Ms. Tran is SO fun and sweet. I reccmmend her for anyone that like to learn more about nutrition and health.

Dr. Tran is very sweet and helpful. class has a lot of info, but she always gives good study tips. Attendance will pay off in the end. Likes to discuss current topics related to nutrition. Makes class interesting and fun. Highly recommended class for anyone who eats (i.e. everyone!)
Ms. Tran is the sweetest, most understanding lady in the world. She doesn't care if you fail the test the first time, she'll do whatever she can to make sure you understand the content and give you credit for it. She makes references to the text but since she knows how expensive it is she doesn't require it. She's always trying to help!!!
Excellent knowledge of topic. Very thorough and makes complicated material understandable. Very fair to all students.
very sweet and helpful. nothing about this course is vague, she is very upfront with what she expects from you. go to class, everything is based on lecture and she even gives you practice questions in class for the exam. class can be harder for people without a background in science, but she is more than willing to help.
She is funny and a cool teacher. Her class is easy and lectures are great! we saw a movie in class and she provided us buckets of popcorns!! soo cool!! very helpful and informative!! she's great!!!
Take her! I love her! Soooo easy. Very helpful. NO surprises! Powerpoint lectures. She makes it easy for you to understand the material. 3 short simple MC quizzes. 2 Exams. Just go to class and you'll pass. Gives reviews. Don't really need the book. Extremely nice.
Dr. Tran gives special extra credit just for being at lecture every week and always tells exactly what will be on tests. She obviously loves food and sometimes brought snacks to the evening section. There are good Nutrition tutors in the LAC for those of us without a lot of science background.
I really recommend u to take her class. Her lectures are very clear. If you go to her class regularly, you can take her exam very well. Her exams are coming directly from her lectures and notes, so u need to go class (attendance is not counted as your grade). You can pass her class without worry.
took her over the summer, loved her! it wasn't dreadful going to class, and i did well in her class without much use of the textbook because most her exams are based on her lectures. what was really cool was that she gives reviews right before the exam taken because she really wants everyone to do well.for final grades, most people passed with A's.
Take her!No homework, she explains all the things! She wants everyone pass the class. extra credit for the exams.Remember all the notes and listen carefully in the class, you will get A!She is very nice and responsible!Don't be afraid that you don't pass the class!I don't read the book for exams, but read her notes and listen careful when she reviews.
Very nice, extremely helpful. She has reviews before every test and goes over everything you need to know even writes out essay's for you. If you've had any experience in science at all this class should be a breeze.
I love her class. She is always willing to help students. She makes sure that her students really understand her subject matter. Take her if you can. No dull moments in class..
she really wants students to succeed, so if you study your material you will. Easier if you ve already had physiology, chem, anatomy, but if not, still she gives you everything she specifically wants to know in class. If you ve had the science before - Do Not Bother buying the overpriced book that can t be sold back. Take Good Notes
SHE IS EXTREMELY GREAT! SHE IS VERY HELPFUL&WANTS U TO LEARN. SHES VERY CLEAR WITH HER LECTURES & SHE ALSO PROVIDES HER LECTURE NOTES ON HER WEBSITE!(BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN U SHOULDNT GO TO CLASS)ALL YOU REALLY NEED TO DO IS STUDY &KNOW THE TERMINOLOGIES &FOR THE MOST PART,THEY'RE ALL COMMON SENSE. SHE GIVES OUT GREAT EXAMPLES&SHES MAKES THE CLASS FU
She always comes to class with a smile. She is very friendly, helpful and funny. Her lectures are put on a powerpoint and all exams are based on her lectures. You don't really need to read the book unless you missed class. She also provides chapter reviews and study guides on her website. You need to do a diet project, which isn't hard.Good teacher
Fantastic class! You learn a lot from Trinh, as she is so knowledgable about the subject she teaches, which makes for an interesting & lively series of well presented lectures.Anyone interested in what they eat, or what anyone eats, should sign up for her classes. You get out what you put in, so study the book -There's lots to learn, & it's worth it!
Dr. Tran has got to be the kindest and sweetest teacher around. She always has time for you. There was never a day where she entered the room not smiling, even though she had a tough semester. She really knows her stuff! 90% of the grade is based on 3 exams which are based on power point lectures. Be prepared to work! Virtually no math.
I skipped a lot, didn't take a lot of notes, and didn't read the book - I got a C. So if you do go to every class, take lots of notes, and read the book - you're bound to get better than a C. Also, its a lot of biology, boring biology.
Professor Tran is hot! Very cool teacher. Take her.
i really think anyone who is interested in nutrition should take this class w/ tran-- she is v. helpful and you can tell she genuinely cares about her students. i learned a lot from her & would take another class w/ her in a heartbeat. she's lighthearted but v. knowledgeable. not hard to get an A if you go to all lectures/take notes! LOVE HER.
Tran is an approachable and friendly teacher. She is clear and well organized. Her exams are fair and her grading system is standard. Over all she is an awesome teacher.
Prof. Tran is an amazing teacher! She truly knows the subject of nutrition science in and out! Her lectures are interesting as well, and she grades fairly. Definitely recommend her!!!
Dr. Tran is hot and smart! She is extremely helpful and wants everyone to succeed. Lectures are all Powerpoint so take good notes. Really helps if you read before hand. Exams are mostly powerpoint and from book. 3 exams, 1 diet project (very easy), and 1 Final. She's a fun teacher and even gives out prizes and sometimes brings snacks.
Where else could you find a good-looking professor with a great passion of teaching nutrition. Prof. Tran's class is easy. Her exams were pretty straightforward and easy to answer. She wants students to succeed. Hence, she gives many extra points. Diet project is super easy, too. Her class is, indeed, a stress-free environment. Highly Recommended!
I HAD A CLASS AT 5PM TO 6:30PM WHERE I'D FIGHT FROM FALLING ASLEEP. THEN TRAN'S CLASS STARTS AT 6:30PM AND SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAY SHE TEACHES IS INTERESTING, SURELY KEPT ME UP. SHE MADE ME WANT TO LEARN ABOUT HOW THE BODY ABSORBS AND UTILIZES NUTRIENTS. I LOVED THIS CLASS. SHE IS A GREAT SPEAKER AND THE DIET PROJECT IS VERY EASY YET HELPED ME ALOT
nothing bad to say about her, shes friendly and will try to keep class light hearted and interesting. she brings snacks to class for students sometimes too. shes there to help students understand the material and pass the class, not to screw them over. no homewore, 1 project due at the end of the semester powerpoint lecture, test every couple chpts
No room for improvement. Intelligent, sophisticated, beautiful. Enthusiastic and engaging lecturer and mentor. Subject matter expert. I never thought nutrition could be so fun. If I was single, I?d marry this woman! BOOYA!! Don?t waste $ buying the book. She makes all essential material available on-line.
She is my favorite teacher. She completely changed the way I look at food now. She is also very smart and funny. Take her class, you won't regret it!
Trinh is an excellent teacher! She brings a lot of energy to the class and makes material both accessible and interesting. Nutrition can be a controversial topic, but she is able to answer student questions in a way that is scientifically based and unbiased.
If you're there to learn, you'll be attracted to her bubbly sarcastic personality and ability to make it seem like nutrition is just a big joke that you're all in on. If not, at least Profesor Tran is a hottie! I learned a lot in this class, and I felt like I didn't really do much work at all. Easy A if you go to class and take good notes.
She speeds through material, talks. Fast , she's funny, but she favors students , never On time, no homework , test only matter , she is accommodating to needs but intimidating and sassy , I don't think she a great teacher but Getting the book is recomendEd because she's fast
I just finished her summer course for Nutrition 12 and it flew by so quickly! Here are some quick notes: 1)Do NOT waste your money on the textbook because that is NOT where her exams come from; 2) DO take notes, ALL of the notes off her lecture & slides because THIS is where her exam questions come from. She is a funny teacher :)
Very thorough on explaining the subject. Dr. Trinh gives numerous examples to help you understand the topics that she covers, and makes sure that you understand them. For her night classes, attendance is not mandatory. There are 3 exams,a diet project, and a few extra credit work loads throughout the semester. Review her notes for exams and final.
Awesome teacher! Enjoy her class alot and she ain't bad looking either for her age... lol
If you've had any bio this class is very easy. Prof is cool. Attend all lectures, study your notes and it's an easy A. Not very interesting or challenging material if you've taken a lot of bio or have a health/physio/athletic training background. Book is not necessary if you're short on cash and take good lecture notes.
Just finished Nutr 12. I took it due to a health scare. I've not had Chem. I worked hard but did well. Get the book if you don't have a science background. Take good notes. She is enthusiastic & makes it interesting. She will do everything she can to help you (including a lead study group before class). One of the best teachers ever!
took her Fall 2012. No need for text book.If your looking for an easy A not the class to go.Class has a lot of science so if this is your down fall do not take it. 3 multiple test, diet project. Pretty fair grader, attendance not important if you get good notes from someone. I would have not taken this class if i got a better input
Great professor - very laud back but clear on her expectations. No need for the textbook - Prof. Tran bases all of the questions on her exams from her lectures. There are 3 exams and a diet project. The 2nd exam was by far the most difficult. Study her lecture notes and you'll do fine. If you miss a class make sure to get a copy not the slides.
Wonderful teacher!! She always allows time to copy down everything off of the slides and all the test questions come directly from those slides, though I think a few questions hadn't been talked about in class. She includes a few extra credit questions at the end of each test. First test is misleadingly easy compared to the second one. Study a lot!
Prof Tran was a PHENOMENAL teacher. You can tell that she really knows her stuff. She's also very funny! Her class was pretty easy as long as you study well for her exams. The tests can be a little tricky, but not too much if you know the material. I got a C on the first test, but aced everything else, which was enough to push me to an A.
This professor is excellent! She is extremely talented at instructing and actually cares about her students. She will help you out whether you are completely lost, or if you are looking for an honors credit. Cannot recommend her enough as a professor!
Trinh Tran is an excellent teacher! She's very understanding, her tests usually base off her slides, but refer from the book, her explanations are clear and simple to understand. Attendance isn't really necessary, but it's a must to copy those notes! If you choose her, you will not regret it, just attend class and study your notes &you'll do fine.
Trinh is a very helpful teacher. She provided help to those who needed it and she also helped the students that were getting good marks by allowing them to tutor. I find tutoring is an excellent way to review.
One of the best instructors I've had a city college. Dr. Tran really inspired me. Her teaching style is one of the best. I have a much better understanding of nutrition and actually walked away from this class retaining information that is pertinent to every day life. I highly recommend her if you need or are interested in the subject.
I had such a wonderful learning experience with Dr. Tran. Her lectures were so informative and interesting. I felt like she explained the subject matter well and she always stopped to make sure everyone understood. Also she is very funny! Although this class is easier for those that have already taken science, but you can still pass it
Awesome teacher! She is nice and funny. Never a boring class but her tests are super hard! You really need to study. Lectures through her sideshows. If you need help make sure to go during her office hours. STUDY STUDY STUDY!
Great teacher, re sparked my interest in biology and nutrition. mainly just lecture and exams. extremely helpful to take notes and show up for test reviews
Dr. Tran really conveyed the material well and presented in a clear, concise manner that was not always dry. It is definitely death by powerpoint, but you get the material you need. Show up for test reviews! This class doesn't inundate you with assignments, but there is definitely work to be done.
She's funny and nice and brings snacks. Tests are multiple choice with most of the answers given to you during the test review. Book isn't necessary since she teaches from old power points which you can rewatch on her CCSF website. Tests only, NO make up tests and no homework.
Her lecture are clear and occasionally humorous. If you have any doubts or questions during her lecture, she will provide you with a clear answer. Tests are multiple choice with most of the answers given to you during test reviews. No book is necessary since she teaches from PowerPoint presentations available online. No homework is provided.
I can't say enough good things about her. She's funny and keeps the class moving. She always let us out early, assigned no homework, and doesn't require a book. Take her! Easiest A at CCSF so far. Plus, you actually learn something.
She wasn't the easiest professor, but was an amazing person to take for Nutrition! She was very smart and made sure to answer any questions from students. She's strict with deadlines, but will help you understand her lectures. You should be able to take down all notes from all the lectures and will provide you reviews for your four exams. Take her!
Professor Tran is very clear on what you need to do to pass this class. Don't need the textbook, just pay attention, take good notes, and review the material on class website. Prof Tran is also pretty funny. Lectures are long but tolerable. Biggest flaw I found is material was very biased and non inclusive of the benefits of a plant based diet
She is a fair teacher, clear lecture and answer questions clearly. She is a little careless, because she gave me "D" at final but it was a wrong grade which i found out myself. It takes forever to change grade in city after teacher put in wrong grade, it delays my graduation of AA degree.:(
Dr. Tran is amazing!!! Her lectures are based on her slides and everything is straight forward. Books are optional. Exams are fairly easy as long as you have some general knowledge of biology and some review before the test and you'll do fine. If you don't understand the materials, she's more than happy to break it down for you. Best teacher @ ccsf
Hands down best professor I've ever had! Prof Tran is full of energy and enthusiasm in her lectures and loves what she teaches. She is very willing to help those who are struggling and always answers any questions students have. She posts lectures and test reviews online that are very helpful. As long as you review her lectures you'll get an A!
Dr. Tran is a very good teacher! She is the kind of teacher that makes the lecture just get into your head. She answers the questions very patiently, she makes some fun joke about the lecture that makes the class really fun. The only thing to beware of is go to the restroom before the class because she gives a good lecture that don't want to miss,
Great teacher She super cute and funny Don't miss class and pay attention
Great teacher-funny and interesting. I barely touched the textbook. Pay attention to lecture and slides and you'll do well.
Her tests are super hard. She gives questions outside of the lectures and reviews. You have to do a lot of work. She also thinks she's funny but I don't really see any humor there. I won't take her again for sure! I'd rather taking Biology or Chemistry Intro better than this class. Terrible experience. Slides are super long also
she is hilarious! come to lecture and pay attention (which isn't hard with her lecture style). final grade is based off 3 exams, a diet project, and a comprehensive final - 3rd exam is the hardest so i suggest doing well on the first two exams as they are significantly easier. honestly is an easy A if you slightly try
Nutrition was not something I was terribly interested in before this course but afterward I feel like I learned a lot of important info. Attending class and paying attention are key. Plus Prof. Tran is hella fine so that helped me pay attention in class.
I personally find Prof. Tran wonderful, not only in how she delivers the knowledge to students but also in how she presents herself as a teacher. Her healthy and energetic figure becomes an convincing example of the importance in having good nutrients. What students need to do in her lectures are taking good notes and ask questions.
So I put the tag makes you work for it but it is kind of the opposite. She literally just assigns you the 4 tests and one project, which I thought would be awesome, no.... I wasnt prepared for any of the tests because there was no homework to keep me up to speed. She goes through topics ridiculously fast, and make sure you know chemistry. :( boo
Dr. Tran is awesome. Fun and caring.
Very funny but in my experience she focused more on seeming "cool" to the students and being liked rather than really focusing on being an engaging teacher. One time a student even brought her a box of wine at the beginning of class, which seemed odd. The class is fun and she nice, but I didn't learn like I'd hoped I would.
He gives you every possible point for partial answers but the material is difficult, do the homework and show up
Awesome lectures you honestly learn a lot! There's barely any homework but you need to take note of the lectures/PowerPoint presentations. She will post it online as well so as long as you study the PowerPoint and practice exam you can easily pass the class. There's one nutrition project where you just track down what you eat and record your data.
Took the class a while back, but her class was great! Barely any assignment outside of class aside from the diet project and gave extra credit throughout the semester. If you're willing to put in the effort and time this class will be a breeze for you.
I took Dr. Tran's summer class that was also taught by Dr. Siekman. Both are solid professors. Dr. Tran is a really cool professor who does not take any crap from students. As long as you show up, pay attention, and ask questions you will pass with a good grade. The first test is tough. Don't bother buying the book. It's a waste of money.
She is a wonderful teacher and she perfectly knows the subject which is teaching. Her assignments are very clear and force you to think. She is very opened to answer your questions and gives you many tips how to do nutrition projects. She gives you many examples from our real life. You will love to cook and will keep your diet in right direction.
Great professor, detailed lecture. Easy to understand and take notes. 4 exams, final and a project. Make sure you look at the exam review guide which helps when studying
Very nice teacher. Her lectures are clear and she makes the material very easy to understand. Overall great teacher, would take again.
Dr. Tran is the sweetest professor I have ever seen in my life. She is very understanding of students and really makes an effort to pass the students. Her lectures are Amazing and she is hilarious with pretty dry sense of humor that I love. This class is full of useful information which we can benefit a lot from in life. A must take!!!!
Dont skip the class because she gives almost all answers for her exams.
Like someone else said, more concerned with seeming cool / funny than making sure you understand the concepts. And if you ask more specific questions, seems to take it as a challenge and blows through an unhelpful answer. The summer class was split between her and Dr. Siekmann. If you're deciding who to take for full semester, go with Siekmann.
I really enjoyed the class, though it could have been more challenging. Professor is very relatable, caring about her students, and funny. There is some repetition in her lectures, but if you show up, you'll do well.
Ms. Trinh taught me how to be more caring to other people!
Professor Tran was a horrible online instructor. Her online class was really unorganized, confusing, and she was nonresponsive to Canvas messages. Yet somehow online class students are held with the same standard with lecture class students. Also, the time limits to the online exams were ridiculously short. Easy A or B if you study the book though
Terrible online instructor, nonresponsive, quizzes and tests are tricky. Only easy A or B for those who has background of science. For me, no background of science, I've struggled with her class even though I study hard.
Pretty easy class in my opinion. Super nice and funny and explains things well.
Dr. Tran's face-to-face lecture is fun and interesting. She would also bring snacks (most are carbohydrates) to share in class sometimes. There's not a lot of homework and it is all on Canvas; exams are multiple choices and a few short essay questions/calculations; a diet project is due before the semester ends.
Prof. Tran was great. She can be disorganized, but she's quirky and caring, and her weekly (non-mandatory) Zoom lectures are very informative. There's occasional forum posts, weekly quizzes, and opportunities for extra credit. I have no science background, and this class was not hard. If you complete all the assignments, you will get an A.
Take her class if you need it for entering the health field. She is amazing with her notes, and you will get an A just by doing weekly quizzes. She's funny, relatable, and as she says during first week "almost everyone gets an A in this course". Just review her slides and you will learn a lot. She makes it interesting to learn and you will ace it.
Professor Tran knows her material well! Her online course was very structured. We had a diet project, weekly quizzes, and 4 exams in total. They were mainly multiple choice and sometimes included a short answer/essay. She offered credit for attendance since it was not mandatory and quizzes were allowed to be taken twice.
Clearly structured online course. Concepts aren't hard and neither is the course assignments. However beware that the four exams are weighted heavily (65%). Remainder of grade is an easy diet project and weekly multiple choice quizzes that you can two tries for (highest score kept). Nice over email. Would definitely recommend taking.
I would advise students either go to her office hours and review sessions (extra credit given). If not, watch the zoom recordings bc she shares a lot of what will be covered on tests which are a huge part of your grade. Weekly quizzes, mostly MCQ. Diet project is given at the beginning and you have 4 months to complete it!
Professor Trinh is a good one in the nutrition course but she was late to give a grade. Weekly quizzes and so many quizzes exams.
This course includes weekly quizzes, 3 exams, a final exam, and a dietary project. Most of the quizzes and exams are multiple choice, and the answers are in the textbook. For the dietary project, you have the entire semester to compile a 3-day food diary and complete a questionnaire. There are also a few opportunities for extra credit.
she is perfect I learned a lot from her. Also, her lecture and questions are incredibly engaging and captivating. 100% recommended.
I took the online version of Nutrition, and it was certainly something. If you want to actually learn about nutrition, do not take the online version because it quite frankly sucks but at least you can very easily get an A. It's unfortunate because it really feels like she put 0 effort into this class, and she takes a long time to grade.
This class is fully online, but we can meet her once a week via City Zoom. She also provides an online book, so don't worry about course material. One quiz per week, and some weeks have discussions, too. She is always there to help you if you need some kind of help. Best and caring teacher for nutrition at CCSF.
Dr. Tran was very knowledgable and passionate about nutrition, which reflects in her lectures. She is able to explain these difficult concepts pretty well and is very caring, taking the time to respond to each question. The class has one diet project and the rest is weekly quizzes/ 4 exams(including the final).Take lots of notes to prepare.
Professor Tran's class is a solid option, with engaging lectures and helpful review sessions. The assignments are manageable, but the exams are weighted heavily. Utilizing resources like the textbook and Unstuck AI can go a long way in preparing for the tests.
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS. She is probably good in person but her online class is a mess. She never replies to emails, not record lectures, doesn't post the modules on time. On top of that, she is a tough grader with things she explains in her in-person class but not to the online class. I would not recommend her if you want to learn something.
Professor Trinh Tran is a professor I would take again because she was kind and easy to communicate with. She used an online textbook with weekly quizzes that allowed three attempts. The course was not overwhelming, and she created a positive learning experience.
