This is the BESTEST teacher I've had so far. She is very clear and understanding, and is very willing to help you out if information not very clear. Teaches mostly from test and requires you to attend class. Book hardly ever used, and test were pretty much easy if you attend class. I would love to take more classes with her, she is very fun. A+

I just took this class becuase i was in fye, but it turned out to be really cool and she was awesome! sometimes she got a little personal but it was alright. Her tests are super easy and you take them on your time, whenever your ready.

Made the topic very enjoyable and I looked forward to her class. She made it personal but I really liked that because it was nice to pull in personal stories. If you have the chance to take her dont pass it up. More than willing to help, lectures are really interesting. Just an amazing professsor. You can tell she really loves what she does! A++++

I smile when I come into her class! She motivates me to read and to participate. She already feels like a helpful friend. In the class, you will read about a chapter a week, and then take a quiz that you have a week to take. NO TESTS! NO FINAL! And yet, WOW, you LEARN. I can't imagine their is a better psy101 class than hers. Great teacher. Attend every class because you need the lecture notes. Pay attention and take good notes. Study them before the quiz each week. I learned a lot in this class.

Great professor! Keeps class attention and has a great personality! She loves to teach and is very smart! Make sure you take notes - her tests are mainly from in class notes. Absences are never excused. I took 2 classes from her and loved them all!

Dr Lavigne is a great instructor and the class is really easy. Take good notes on her power point and study the chapters a little bit and you will do fine in the class! If i have to take another psych class i will definately try to have her as an instructor again!

Dr. Lavigne is an amazing teacher. All of the homework was online and the exams were in person, not too difficult if you paid attention and took notes in class. She is very understanding, but she's not a push over. Make sure you pay attention in class and participate in the class discussions and you'll do fine.

Loved this class. Might not have been as interesting if a teacher with less enthusiasm taught it. She was so helpful (you could text her if you had a question) and clear on what she wanted. Book quizzes were online and exams were in class. The exams were like a lottery ticket - you scratched your answer to see if you were right. It made testing fun

I absolutely love Dr. Lavigne's class! I took Psych 101 with her as well, which was really informative. I'm a psych major, so the quality of my psych professor is really important to me. Dr. Lavigne is great at relaying information in an interesting way. As long as you pay attention and do the assignments, you should get at least a B.

Took her for 101 & 132. She is a very visual teacher which helped me remember info a lot easier. She was always more than willing to help with anything I needed. Quizzes were 1-2/week open book/note at home on the computer, tests were easy if you showed up to class, papers were no problem. Would take another of her classes again in a heartbeat!

Hands down, the coolest teacher at GCC. You won't find a nicer Psych teacher. Tons of experience in the field. She is very approachable and always willing to help. Tests are from class notes, so don't skip. Also had her for 101 and loved both classes. She gave me the confidence to change my major from Nursing to Psychology. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Took PSY101 as 1st class in 25 years. Dr. Lavigne is a fantastic teacher. Her class was 1/2 reading the book & taking quizes online through APLIA & 1/2 lectures & notes & classroom tests. She made the information come alive, be relative to life & easy to understand. Helps to print out the chapter PDF's off APLIA for note taking. GREAT TEACHER!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Dr. Lavigne. She has tons of experience in the field &is easy to talk to & approach.This class is interesting and isn't really hard you just have to do the work. Do the quizzes &study for the multiple choice tests.If you read the book, take your quizzes,& pay attention in class you should be fine.

Canvas quizzes are every week, easy, and you can work ahead. If you can't keep track of your own assignments, you won't do well in any college class. Highly recommended!

She gives plenty of extra credit options, the tests are mostly multiple choice, and she is easy to talk to. I know she teaches another course besides Psychology but if you do take her psych class you might not even need the textbook or online program. I took an aplia two week trial and finished all my quizzes in one day. Still got an A.

Dr. Lavigne is hands down the best teacher on campus even though this is my first semester. I feel she cares about her students and helps those who struggle. One of my favorite classes because of her, she is super nice and Hilarious, don't go a lecture without the class laughing ,definitely would recommend her as a teacher!

Ms. Lavigne was one of the best teachers I have had! I took her for psychology 101, thinking it was going to be hard, but she made everything so clear and do-able. Obviously you have to work for your grade, come to class, take notes, & listen to her lectures. She is helpful, open and makes the class interesting. I always recommend her :)

Excellent teacher. Interacts with class and open to talking. Makes sure to include visuals in lectures. Assignments are quizzes, tests, a small paper, and a final paper. Quizzes are online and she does not remind you of them. No exact test study guides are given so preparing is a little tough but tests aren't horrible. Loved her class and teaching.

You have chapter quizzes due every week they are 15 questions its open book so its easy. There are only two papers that you have to write, theres only 5 test including the final. She is a really good teacher; i would recommend her to anyone.

If you are going to take PSY101 especially on the North campus choose this teacher. I got an easy A. Come to class, pay attention and you will barely need to study. There are quizzes which are online and open book w 2 attempts & online homework but if you do it you get full points. There is no paper to write. She drops lowest the test score.

I would highly recommend this class. She is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. She gives multiple tips and tricks for remembering the information for tests and she gives extra credit.

Very hip yet super knowledgable. She prepares you for success which makes exams cake. Exams are taken on scratcher scantrons, so cool! Overall, very interestingfun class & solid teacher. Would recommend.

I am a psychology major, she is one of my favorite professors. She is very clear with what she expects from you. The test were not long which is nice. At the end of the semester you have to write a three page paper which is easy if you do your research. I would recommend her to anyone

Honestly, Dr. Lavigne is the reason I'm deciding to be a psychology major. She's very down to earth and amazing in group discussions with the class, but still knows how to teach well and be unbiased about many of the controversial things that come up. Point is, I highly recommend her and I loved this class. 10/10 would take another class with her.

Dr. Lavigne is a rockstar! She is one of the most engaging professors I have ever had. She is an advocate for mental health and she creates a safe environment for her class discussions. The material is very interesting! She uses scratchers for her exams, which allow partial credit if you get the correct answer on attempt 2. I highly recommend!

I never liked Psych after taking classes in the past, but after this class with Dr. Lavigne, I love it! She is a great teacher and I always went to class interested and ready to learn. Best professor at GCC! She's seriously so funny, and makes everything relate to real world situations. If you ever have a question about something that doesn't make sense, she will explain it in multiple ways until you do. She wants nothing but the best for her students! Plus, her dropping three of your lowest grades helps too!

She is very well organized and makes the material fun in her lectures. Tests are relevant to the lectures and she makes sure to highlight the areas of importance. I feel as though I gained more than textbook knowledge from this class and felt personal growth along the way. She is a very inspiring person to be around! Would absolutely recommend!

Attendance worth 7% of grade! Free textbook used- Open Stax PSY. We always have fun and laughs at her interactive, interesting lectures. There's no final exam.

She is smart, strong, and she's got your best interest at heart. You will be hard pressed to find a college professor that matches her whether you'll be in school for 2 years or 20. You have every tool you need to succeed. HW is helpful, but lectures are what will prepare you for the tests. Don't skip, but honestly you won't really want to.

Im so glad I decided to enroll with Dr. Lavigne. I will truly miss her and the class. Her teaching style, personality, passion for subject, and class set up is what makes this class awesome. Awesome teacher! She gives extra credit for two tests, Was always very upbeat and never was negative towards the students. Always answered questions in depth and her tests are pretty easy. You basically know what you get on the test right after you take it because the scantron tells you when you get the right answer. Overall and amazing teacher

Her lectures are great - she gives you all the info you need to be successful. Really caring professor, offers up to 30 pts xtra credit, drops your lowest 2 quizzes, plenty of class activities. She is always available. Her PSY 101 class was a major factor in my decision to become a PSY major. Finally, she keeps contact w/her students after GCC.

She is amazing-15 quizzes and 15 mini assignments all on canvas--drops the 3 lowest grades of each by the end of the semester, and the lowest test score (6 tests throughout semester). Super friendly, caring, and gives 2 or 3 extra credit opportunities. Honestly, her lectures are awesome. She teaches simple and easy ways to help remember material.

Dr. Lavigne is the best teacher! Lectures are engaging, conversational, explained clearly, and fun. She cares about her students & feels like friend. I took the honors course, and she makes you work for your grade, but thats nothing unexpected of a college-level course. Very predictable, organized, & the exams reflect everything covered in lecture.

I was disappointed when COVID-19 required us to switch online, because lectures with Dr. Lavigne were always so engaging and fun! She cares about her students well-being & offered psychological support throughout the unpredictable world changes. While switching online, she kept things predictable & even helped me work out my procrastination issues.

She offers to help outside of class. She helped me find a study method that works for me, advised me about insomnia and anxiety, and career advice for being a psychologist. If she has 15 minutes before or after a class, she will give someone 15 minutes for advice and if you need it.

Attendance is mandatory and counts as a participation grade. Final project is a group project - pretty simple, do your research and know what you're talking about.
