Troy is quite easy, half of the course is online and the assignments were straight forward. Gives out extra marks on every test. For a better grade all you need to do is study his lecture notes, which he will post on the psych protal after each class.
Troy's class was super easy, made the lecture's relatively interesting and was super clear on what to study for the test. The tests are short and all multiple choice and if you study the slides, you'll do just fine. Overall thoroughly enjoyed his class :) Worth taking!
Troy is very likeable and helpful. He couldn't make his tests easier: gives lots of material to prep with, publishes the lecture slides, gives the essay questions to be done in advance of the exam. He does occasionally rush through lecture material, but he answers questions after class and by e-mail very promptly.
Troy's class was really great. He's easy-going, a witty talker ,but most importantly, he makes the material clear and easy to understand. He posts all his lectures and questions on the psychportal on time, and for every exam, he posts an objectives list which I found was incredibly useful. All in all,I would definitely recommend taking his course.
Great teacher
So many opportunities to do well in this course.
Very interesting proff and super helpful. Large parts of the course are online (quizzes) which seriously boost your mark and really help with learning the material. Fair marker and puts a lot of effort into his work.
Troy is great. The course is well structured, and exams are easy. Try not to buy the text, it's not good. All the material posted online, you just need the portal access.
I took this course online and loved it! Troy is very organized, posts to-do lists for us each week to keep you on track, and his lectures are in-depth but very clear. Exams are not tricky at all. Assignments are interesting and easy. If you put in a little effort and stay on top of things, you can easily do well in this course.
Troy is one of the best teachers ever. He wants you to listen during his lectures and will post the notes after class. His exams are super easy. He gives you a outline and if you answer all those question your guaranteed an A
Troy is great! Took his online Social Psych class and it was really easy. Assignments and online activities were really easy, just make sure you keep up with the work. Don't buy the textbook, everything is based on the notes he gives you. Exams are simple and fair. He genuinely cares and is quick to respond. Definitely recommend!
Great Professor! Highly recommend taking him for social psychology.
Troy is phenomenal. Such an engaging lecturer and makes his material relatable. He basically holds your hand and guides you through the course. As long as you pay attention and read his lecture slides and do the To Do lists you are sure to ace any of his courses. His exams are always MC and easy. Awesome teacher, I would take any of his classes.
Troy is lovely and his lectures are worth the 8:30am start. Is very clear with his material, and posts what you need to know on D2L. Save yourself some money and don't buy the textbook, instead the online portion (which is mandatory for the course), supplies you with access to the e-text.
I loved Troy! He would always include videos and pictures in lecture slides to keep class interesting. Some of his comments are so witty (and mean, lol)! Had 3 tests based on multiple chapters and online weekly launchpad activities that were essential to grasping and understanding concepts. Also weekly paragraph questions he'd mark for clarity.
Great teacher and very organized. The lectures are fairly interesting, and he uses short videos to keep you awake. iClickers are fun to use in this class. The online portion isn't too much of a hassle either. If classes are missed, notes are always posted. I would definitely recommend Troy to anyone. Two thumbs up!
Troy is an amazing prof. If you show up and pay attention, you'll do well! All notes are on powerpoint and are posted online, so if you miss a class, it won't be a problem. Tests are fairly easy if you read the textbook and do the online homework. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS TO ANYONE
Great prof, funny, intelligent and interesting. He has a lot of passion for the field he's in and transitions this into relevant, interesting lectures and online material. Exams are based on the lectures from class. If you can dodge a wrench then you can dodge a ball. If you take troys class then you can pass.... or get an A, because he's great!
I've had a couple of Psych instructors before and I can definitely say that he's the best teacher I've ever had. He's clear on his expectations. I thought Research Methods would be really challenging but Troy makes it easy for us and he went beyond in helping us all succeed. So much respect for this teacher.
Troy is the best professor out there! Three hour lectures are usually torture but he makes time fly. If you focus, you'll get it; explains everything clearly. Easy marks for weekly quizzesquestions. So long as you study the text and slides, its easy. The only professor that I would take a class just to have him again, miss him! So much love!
He is a really cute prof! His lectures are so interesting. His tests are easy! EASY A!
Troy is a chill professor, despite the 3 hour lectures, he can make time pass. Good easy to understand powerpoint slides and isn't boring.
His Social Psych class is the only class that's worth waking up early for. He's a phenomenal teacher and I actually LEARN a lot from his class. His two-hour lecture doesn't feel like a drag. Even if you just sit there and listen, you'll understand the material.
Nice prof. Tests are all multiple choice and are based on his lecture notes and textbook. Online assignments are pretty easy too. He will make you write paragraphessay for every midterm, and they are case studies from what you learned, not hard but not easy. iClicker is participation marks
He's a cute, funny guy and has awkward humour which makes him even more funny! His tests are difficult but they are all multiple choice. Online Assignments are a pain and they are not tested. He gives you a way to boost marks, he'a s true GPA booster for you.
I sincerely love Troy, he is the best teacher you can hope for because he provides you with all the tools to succeed. He makes life so easy, I've never had to consult google for anything or tear my hair out (as I do for many other unclear, unorganized professors). The class is not an easy A, you do need to put in work (WHICH IS STRAIGHTFORWARD).
Awesome Prof! Is passionate about what he teaches, has a good sense of humor, his tests are not tricky and are easy as long as you study lots and are based on his lecture material. Love it!
Study hard, take notes on lecture and you'll pass. Tests are all mc.
Is an awesome prof! he makes time fly when giving lectures, they are interesting and he's funny so you wouldn't want to skip a class! tests are all mc, and take notes of his lectures and study hard!
TROY IS AMAZING!! he's so funny and the work he give's out isn't something anyone can't handle. This was his first time teaching this course (as he told us in the beginning of class) and he taught it like he's done it before! I am truly going to miss Troy as my prof!! He's so worth having as a professor :)!
I took Troy for PSYC 1115 and loved him so much that i took him again for the second half. He's a really great prof and I love his style of an exam every month, each one only being 40 multiple choice (including the final!) Defiently take his class if you have the chance
half online / half lecture Great consistent work flow. No huge paper. Short exams that are actually challenging but manageable if you've been keeping on top of the work. Informative slides. Adorable!! Will definitely take again.
Launchpad use is mandatory, easy marks. 1-2page essay every around 2 weeks (easy marks). Midterms and final consist of only 2 chapters, 50 mcq, reading his ppt slides is enough to get 80%+. He also gives 3% bonus if you participate in a really quick survey conducted by upper-courses students. Overall easy A, take him!
Troy was an amazing teacher. His notes are clear and very informative and that's all you need to study for his exams. Straightforward tells you what he expects. He's a really chill prof. I would say he is a fair marker when it comes to the papers we have to write. He gives a lot of examples to guide you which is pretty good.
Troy is an awesome teacher! His exams are based off his notes and are 40 MC (4 exams in total). He also has written assignments and are really interesting to answer. He is one of my favourite professors. Take him if you can because he's really lit
Hes a nice enough guy, and its an interesting class, but he often seemed like he was trying to preempt conflict in a cultural psych class without necessarily examining where that conflict might come from. I enjoyed the course content but would have enjoyed it more if hed tried to really get people to dig into their assumptions.
Troy is an awesome profesor! His lecture notes are super detailed and all you really need to study from. His mark consists of 4 tests all mc, written assignments and online work. The test are fairly simple so long as you carefully read his lecture slides and the written assignments are fun to do and interesting to answer, take psyc with him!
Great Prof! register his class asap because he is super popular. Easy course to take, definitely a GPA booster. 4 exams in total, covering two chapters and it is all MC(50)MC questions. Take him, or else you'll regret it.
Troy's a really sweet guy, but his lectures are super boring. Thankfully, his exams are all 50 MC and directly from his notes. There's weekly assignments, which involve answering questions (1-2 pages long) but the answers are right from his notes. I barely went to class or studied for this course. Just read over his slides thoroughly.
Awesome teacher! Take him if you have the chance because his class is hard to get in. Troys exams are simple as well, 50 MC two chapters only. But, his papers are hard which covers 20% of your overall grade, but he often tells you what to write so theres stress at all.
Troy is a caring and geeky prof, you can tell he is super interested about what he is teaching and it makes you want to learn it too. The class is super spaced out in that it is 16% online homework, 4 MC tests (16%/each based entirely on his notes) and writing assignments worth 20% all-in-all. Fave class at Langara, take it with Troy!
He is so awesome! I really tried so hard however am not great at multiple choice so only got a B. I enjoyed his lectures, they were very informative and he really presents interesting research. He slides in really funny comments occasionally just to see if you are truly paying attention. I really like the research he has done, anyways he is great!
Troy is amazing, this is my second class with him. Make sure to include his notes into your papers, and read and triple read his lecture slides; his tests will be easy if you do this. All test are multiple choice (20% x 3) and papers are 10% and you have to do 3 of them and a term paper.
Troy is a nice and chill guy but lectures can get boring. He shows a lot of short films that won't be on the test. He makes you do 3 papers every exam and only marks 2 of them. If you like writing papers then take him but otherwise don't.
Troy is a great prof, makes great notes and lectures are interesting. There are A LOT of papers, around three prompts to write on (1 per chapter) due on exam days, so be sure to stay on top of things otherwise you'll be writing 5000 words the night before. He is a fair marker on these papers as long as you include his notes into your papers. Great!
Troy is such an approachable, nice Prof. His cultural psych class is awesome and I highly recommend taking it. I bought the textbook and I regret doing so- his slides are super in-depth and there's really no need for it. Test are 50 MC's with 3 reflection papers for each test (they are not hard and work as review for tests), 1 term paper worth 10%
Troy is the best professor I have had in post secondary. He tells students exactly what he expects and is a very compassionate individual. His notes are very easy to follow and you genuinely want to learn and subsequently learn a lot.
Troy is great, he makes amazing notes (do not buy the textbook) and the lectures are very interesting. Do your papers in advance as they can pile up, make sure to include as much info as possible and do no half ass them. All tests are multiple choice and are very fair so long as you review his notes. Amazing!
I cannot stress enough how amazing Troy is at teaching his field of interest. His notes are very detailed and he lectures with all the care and enthusiasm in the world. You may have a lot of paper though they are fair and his tests are straight forward and never have any questions you would not expect. Take a class with him, you will not regret it.
I may be biased--as I've now taken three classes with him--but he is the best instructor a college student could have. The way in which he conducts his lecture and his class, resonate and stick and inspire you to learn more. Though there may be a lot of writing, it is honestly there to better your critical thinking and your written expression.
Troy's a very patient and understanding instructor, he always listened to every student's answers or comments. He also provides feedback on your assignments or papers if you have any questions and takes the time to ensure you do well in his class. I took Cultural Psy just as an elective for my business program and it complemented my INTB course.
Troy is so kind and an extremely fair prof. His lectures are interesting and the tests were all multiple choice which is a huge stress reliever. I'd definitely recommend reading the textbook before the exams if you want a perfect mark, but definitely still passable if you only go off the lectures. Would love to take another class with him.
Troy has very clear expectations and wants students to succeed. Tests are directly from his slides, which he posts online before class. Don't skip the videos (easy test marks). This class requires writing a weekly paper, but if you do these assignments, studying for exams will be easy. Lectures are interesting if you like psychology. Great prof.
too difficult
His notes were a lot for me personally but very detailed and helpful. There are assignments you need to write every week along with launchpad assignments and discussion posts. I had a TA in my class and they marked the assignments but didn't leave any feedback only a number mark. Other than that I'd still take his class, he's super nice.
Very nice professor
Troy provides you with very detailed and interesting slides covering each chapter, you will rarely need the textbook. The class is heavy with homework (Launchpad and written assignments), and assignment grades will mostly be based on your TA's marking. Otherwise, a kind and understanding prof.
Lectures were overwhelming at times but overall very straightforward. Weekly papers.
Never met him but he seems like a nice guy, but he just doesn't teach. He uploads 100+ slides weekly and expects you to teach yourself. Although the textbook is through launchpad his tests are only based on his slides, he combines 2-3 chapters for each quiz so that is 300+ slides to memorize for each quiz. BTW the quizzes are quite difficult.
Troys exams are based solely off his notes (not the textbook). His exams are easy if you study, however, it is hard to study because of the extremely abnormal amount of notes he provides for each chapter. Avoid him unless you are able to tolerate his excessive (and mostly nonessential) notes. 1 assignment per chapter and he gives extra credit :)
He was one of my best professors I ever had, He is so nice and answer your emails in a sec really I'm not joking he is the quickest in responding emails and always so nice to answer your questions, Honestly if you love psych and enjoy reading about it his notes gonna be so interesting for you!!! I wish I could have him for further psych courses too
His lectures are fun though the downside would be his lecture notes being long. Lots of tests and assignments but they are based on his notes so you'd be ok if you study. He had a guest speaker and it was also fun. Learning Psychology is fun because of this class, very interesting. He also responds to emails fast and is very understanding
So many papers , Too much heavy lecture slides ..
The professor is decent but be ready for a lot of extra work. The exame are solely based on his notes (lots of notes). I didn't dislike it or like it. Cons weekly paper overlycomplicate and material from the book and an avarage of 200 slides per lecture. Pros Troy is very smart and knowledgeable.
The best human being at first place and the best professor. He is very kind and easy going.he explains everything very clear and you actually learn alot in the class.
Troy is an amazing professor. He gives great lectures which inspire you to learn the material and engage with it at a deep level.
Unfortunately not a fan. TC opted to re-write (the already well-written and organized) textbook in a clunky array of slides which are annoying for many reasons - not least of which is you can't keyword search them to hone in on a concept. I find he rushes through lectures and does little to make the subject inspiring or interesting. Big meh.
If you like 200-300 slide powerpoints of copy-pasted textbook material then TC's class will be a perfect fit for you! Lectures are almost never completed and Freud is idolized often, which is a bit disconcerting as in my opinion students shouldn't have to be persuaded into respecting coked-up misogynists who wanted to bang their moms. Strange lol
To be straightforward, slides are good but too much, and don't get through all Slides. Have to use our own time to go over slides ourselves and self teach. It would be better if he can make the classes more engaging like group discussions, kahoot, etc. Or a group project or something else to assess on. He's funny, but need more than just tests.
200-300 pages PowerPoint. Hard to study for test!!!!!!!! It's impossible to study 200-300 pages of PowerPoint before the exam.
It was not the greatest. Just reading off hundreds of slides. Not engaging. Videos were not too bad. Test was hard. Marks was only reliant on tests. Very disappointing that there were no opportunities to be also graded with projects or something else. Just only Test, which doesn't show extensive side of our learning to some, like myself. No thanks

He is just awesome. You should surely take his class as he is just littt
Just best
his notes are concise and clear and all test questions are from the notes. It's very easy to score good grades if you just listen in class and go over his slides. He is very knowledgeable and caring.
I liked Troy, he has a gentle/funny style. I took his mixed mode 1215 class and as such the lectures were quite rushed. I didn't open the textbook once as he taught EXCLUSIVELY from his slides that are very thorough. If you can follow his slides and don't mind most of your grade being based off of 4 exams this is a straightforward class!
The class is hard due to too much material. The professor provides a mind map but it isnt helpful, its overwhelming and has more content than might be assessed. It would help if there were clearer guidance on what to prioritize. Additionally, his lectures are insanely long, about 90% of his lectures have 150-200+ slides and filled with text.
Dedicated the time to study and do homework (~2-5 hrs a week) then this class is EASILY a free A. Concepts are extremely easy to understand, and his lectures entertaining. make Q cards and you WILL do well. Go to his lectures and pay close attention as he will hint at things, half of my class stopped showing up and this reflected in their grades.
Strictly follow the mind map and study only from the slides, so long as you do that you'll get a good grade. Prepare well for the "Potential Test Questions" he grades them harshly. He's a really cool guy :p
he's terrible. 200+ slides for every chapter. good luck!
each chapter was 100-300 slides and almost each slide was filled up. grades are very dependent on assessments. He doesn't go through every slide because of time so i dont know why do all slides need to be that long. If there were less slides then it would be more productive. He is a nice person overall. just not my preferred teaching style.
I'll admit. ALOT of reading. I'm talking 400 slides per test. However, they aren't hard to memorize, at all. They're fun to read through. You will not do well if you don't practice well. The tests themselves aren't very hard though. 50 MCQs per test, one written question. Not the hardest, but not the easiest either.
The exams felt disconnected from what we actually covered. Some questions were tricky and didn't reflect lectures or readings well. It felt like a guessing game more than a test of knowledge.
Prof Chenier talks so slowly I found myself zoning out constantly, then he would suddenly speed up when something important comes up. There's definitely no structure or any real guidance. I stopped attending lectures after a few weeks because they felt pointless. The exams were brutal.
He always seems to give the impression that we should already know everything. When we didn't, he would act annoyed. But isn't the point of a class to teach? This felt like punishment for being new to the subject.
The lectures were literally boring and very unclear. He has a terrible habit of reading off slides with no energy or explanation. I stopped attending because I wasn't getting anything out of it. It felt like a waste of time.
Troy overcomplicates everything. A simple concept takes him ten minutes of rambling, and I still didn't get it. I ended up relying on outside sources just to understand basic terms. I shouldn't have to do that in an intro class.
The textbook didn't match the lectures, and neither matched the tests. I had to teach myself everything. What's the point of lectures if I still have to go home and reteach the whole chapter??
He seemed irritated whenever someone asked for help. It created a really uncomfortable environment. We're here to learn. Students shouldn't feel bad for asking questions. It made me feel small and stupid.
Mr.Chenier lectured like we already knew everything. No breakdowns, no clarification, just nonstop info. If you're not already familiar with the material, you're cooked. It wasn't just difficult, it was inaccessible. His teaching style just doesn't work for most students.
It honestly felt like he was trying to confuse us. Every lecture had unrelated tangents, and the key points were buried. I had to reteach everything myself after class. I've never worked so hard to get so little out of a course.
No practice exams, no quiz prep, nothing to help us study. Just endless slides and textbook pages. I tried to keep up, but the lack of support made it impossible. You're completely on your own in this class.
Mr.Troy talks either way too slow or way too fast, and he often gets off track with personal stories. I seriously couldn't stay focused in class because the delivery was so inconsistent. It's hard to stay engaged when the pacing keeps changing. I started skipping because I wasn't learning anything. His teaching style doesn't work for me at all.
Nothing in this course was explained clearly let alone thoroughly. I kept waiting for things to “click” but they never did. His lectures didn't line up with the textbook or exams. I felt like I was constantly guessing what to study. There was no direction the entire semester.
His exams were a nightmare. They focused on the tiniest details, and skipped over the main concepts. It felt like he was always trying to trip us up, and not really assess what we understood.
Lectures were all over the place. There was no clear takeaway, and she never summarized or highlighted what was important. I left every class with pages of notes and no idea what mattered.
Chenier assigns so much work for an intro class. Textbook readings, long lectures, extra videos, all with little connection to the actual exams. I was drowning in sooo much work. It took up so much of my time compared to my other classes.
Deadlines would appear suddenly, assignments made no sense, and no help was provided.
I wanted to like Mr.Chenier, he clearly loves the subject. But passion alone doesn't make someone a good teacher. His lectures didn't make sense, his tests were brutal, and worst of all, he never offered support.
he was never available to help. i emailed with genuine questions multiple times and got no response. there were no reminders for deadlines either. i felt completely on my own in a class that already felt scattered. It's not what I expected from a college level course.
The workload was unmanageable for an intro class. We were expected to read, watch lectures, then be tested on completely different info. Nothing aligned, it was way too overwhelming for me and i'm sure alot of his other students too. It felt like I was studying 3 courses worth of material for just this one. Don't take this course unless you need it
he'd usually spend half the lecture talking about his boring personal life stories, then he'd rush through actual course content that we all paid with our hard earned money like we were supposed to already know it all. It was exhausting..
Nothing in the lectures lined up with the textbook or the exam. I was always guessing what to study. I did every reading, watched every lecture, and still felt unprepared for every test. Exams were brutal as hell.
I don't mind a challenge, but this class didn't feel fair AT ALL. The expectations were high, but the support was nonexistent. No replies to emails, no help with the material, and nothing made sense. Bad prof!
His teaching lacked structure, his tone lacked care, and his assessments lacked logic. I can handle challenges. But I can't respect unfair, disorganized, and emotionally checked out professors like him.
He doesn't teach, he yaps. Fast, slow, off topic. Then he would often disappear when we need help. Exams felt random. Feedback was basically nonexistent.
This intro psych left a bad impression. Lectures are slow, hard to follow, and notes are unhelpful. I skipped class and still had to learn everything on my own later.
The workload is ridiculous, especially with other classes. Extra videos just repeat textbook info, and slides don't match lectures.
If you're thinking about taking this course, be prepared to work twice as hard for half the support. Chenier's teaching style is confusing and unstructured, and there's a serious lack of study materials to help you prepare. Although he seems passionate about the subject but doesn't translate that passion into helpful teaching.
Mr.Chenier's lectures are long, slow, and hard to follow, and he never post helpful notes or recordings. I found myself skipping class because it felt like a total waste of my time, only to realize I still had to learn everything on my own later.
I really wanted to like this course because psychology is fascinating to me, but Chenier's teaching made it almost unbearable. His lectures are too confusing and often miss key information, forcing me to rely entirely on the textbook. The workload is overwhelming for a first year class, especially without any real study guides or practice exams
I spent hours watching extra videos that just repeated the textbook. I never got a sense of what was important, so I wasted time on irrelevant details.
I had to go and read on Reddit and watch YouTube videos just to understand the lectures. And when I asked questions, the responses were minimal or unhelpful.
I came to class expecting to learn but ended up listening to personal stories or unrelated topics. It made focusing difficult, and I wasted time on material that wasn't relevant for exams.
Discussion posts and activities felt forced and lacked genuine interaction. There was no facilitation to deepen understanding or exchange ideas, making these parts of the course feel like a chore rather than an opportunity.
Instead of breaking down complex ideas or providing examples, the professor just reads the slides word for word. This made lectures dry and inengaging, and I found I learned more by studying on my own than sitting through class.
Even when I had valid reasons supported by documentation, I was denied extensions or alternative arrangements. The professor seemed unwilling to consider personal circumstances, which only added to the stress of an already demanding course.
The amount of reading, videos, and assignments is way too much, especially for a course designed for beginners. There's no real guidance on how to manage it all, which makes balancing this course with others nearly impossible. It felt like a full time job except you are the one paying.
We were tested on material that was never mentioned in class or the textbook. I felt blindsided. I'm all for challenging content, but this felt unfair more than anything.
I had a valid reason for missing one assignment, but he penalized it with a zero anyway. His approach is strict and inflexible, even in a psychology class.
Relied heavily on the textbook, but we had to buy the extra access code to even get quizzes done. Felt like a cash grab more than a course.
There's nothing horribly wrong with the course. But there's also nothing that stands out. It felt like a box to tick, not an experience to grow from. One of those courses you immediately forget after finals.
This class was basically the textbook on a projector. If I'd known that ahead of time, I'd have just borrowed the book and self studied. Not worth the stress for what little I actually retained.
he sometimes goes off-topic, which wasted class time and left important material rushed or skipped altogether.
I genuinely don't understand why we had lectures. Every single slide was just paraphrased from the textbook. If you read the chapters ahead, there was nothing new to gain from class. Zero interaction, zero added value. Felt like I was paying for access to PowerPoint slides.
Mr.Chenier never learned my name. I showed up every class, participated, emailed him twice, went to office hours… nothing. Not even a “hi.” For someone teaching psychology, a field based on human relationships… it was pretty ironic. I felt invisible. Just another number in the system.
Mr.T speaks clearly, which helped me understand, but he talks fast and doesn't slow down when asked. I wish he would explain more terms or gave examples. Sometimes I felt embarrassed to ask because he seemed impatient. If English isn't your first language, the pace might be hard.
It was okay, but I wish he offered recorded lectures or more examples outside the textbook. Not everyone learns best from static slides. I had to use YouTube and other resources to make sense of key concepts. Mr.Chenier wasn't rude or anything, just not accessible for beginners.
He is not beginner friendly. He will not accommodate to your preferred learning style. He makes you feel dumb for being new to the subject and he always seemed irritated whenever we ask him questions. Whenever i try to email him, i have to wait 4-5 days till i get an email back which was usually a unhelpful generic response
He's a nice guy, but that doesn't make him a good prof. His lectures just paraphrase the textbook. The main issue is nothing aligns lectures, assignments, and exams all cover different things. you might learn one thing in the lecture, work on something else in the assignment, and then get tested on something completely unrelated in the exam.
Group assignments can be frustrating since some members don't pull their weight. There's little structure to ensure everyone contributes equally, which sometimes leaves the workload unevenly distributed.
I didn't like him as much as i would expected, he gave out way too much homework for an introductory psych class. He's very strict in terms of APA style citations so you have to be very meticulous. I noticed that i rarely ever got any help from him even after politely emailing him, i often get generic responses or no reply at all.
There seems to be someone here who may not have studied and did poorly in Troy's class. Thats a skill issue imo. See how they've spammed multiple negative reviews. Troy is a great, caring prof who is passionate about psychology. His slides are detailed and all you need to study from. Take his class, you will learn a lot!
He's a good prof, he's better than other psychology professors
Barely explains anything in class. His lectures are just him reading from the slides without adding any examples or stories to help us understand. When exams come, most questions are about stuff we never learned in class. When students ask for help, he'd say things like ‘You should've read the textbook more carefully' instead of explaining.
He's actually been really helpful to me. I've always been able to get extra help after class, and he gives useful feedback that helps me improve. His lectures aren't boring. they're actually pretty tolerable.
He is a great professor, he was very helpful
I would definitely take him again, he is awesome. He made me grow my love for psychology even more. Take him before spots run out!!
PARTICIPATION HEAVY. TESTS HEAVY. LECTURES HEAVY. He uses the old methods of students needs to memorize everything he teaches, instead of using open notes exams. I would not take this professor again. His lectures are long, with so much informations in it - that no one will use outside of his class - that needs to be memorized for exams. Not good!
There are 4 exams and each is worth 21%. The exam content is based entirely on the lecture slides (each chapter with around 160-200 slides, except for two). The lectures weren't engaging and the complicated concepts aren't explained well (which even he admits) and he doesn't cover everything, so be prepared learn a lot of the material on your own.
He does what he's supposed to do as a professor nothing more nothing less. Pretty chill guy with the only big downside being that he talks really fast.
