Dr. Kjos is concise, clear, and willing to help those in need. This is a tough class for some people, so no one will be rated as easy. Dr. K is funny, and down to earth. The pace is fast, but that is due to the course design, not the instructor(s). I highly recommend Dr. K if you like A/P.

He's a great Teacher! very helpful and clear with what he wants you to know and learn. Clumsy funny and resembles Owen Wilson from "Shanghai Noon." I enjoyed his class, and would highly recommend him.

WOW! This is one of the best teachers I had. Bio 431 is not an easy subject but he will make sure that everyone understands the material. Make sure you study from the study guide since everything that is on the study guide is on the exam. He gives handouts in color and the material discussed in class is the same exact order as his study guide.

It seems that if you want to take AP at SCC, you HAVE to take Troy. It's not too much studying time, he explains clearly, and you really have to be a total idiot not to get at least a B. No textbook use, tests come directly from notes. He's so knowledgable that everything just stays with you. Such a sweet guy, take him if you can!

Once again, this guy amazed me. Very clear, organized, helpful, and just so nice. Memorization is key, everything you need is in your notes. Minimal studying, no book needed, but you retain all the info, he's just that good. Really funny too, he's like everyone's best friend. I got A's in both 430 and 431 from him! Easy class but lots of memorizing. I barely studied but still passed with a B. Study off notes only and you'll do good. Plus, Troy is soooo sweet. Which makes him kinda attractive to a lot of girls in my class.

this class is just as rigor as the ones at sac state. engage w/the material because its really an interesting class. i always did relaxed study for 2 days prior the exams. worked great for me, im getting an A. people drop out cuz they are unwilling to study. notecards pay off big time* don't settle for a grade lower than an A cuz its not worth it.

IF you really want to learn A&P Take the class with Troy K. He is by far one of the best instructors I had. He really explains things in a way that its easy to remember and it will help you for future classes. His class helped me learn the concepts really well. Take his class you will thank me for the rest of your life.

Took his class for 430 and currently taking him for 431. Study guides and lecture notes are what you need to succeed for the lecture exams. Lab exams are set up as rotating 2min stations. Everything you go over in class will be covered in the exams so there are never surprises. you must study, no slackers, no whiners!!

Super nice teacher, great teaching style! Makes it easy to understand. The course is difficult enough, but with his explanations the information is processed through my mind much easier. Hes nice when it comes to grading too. Overall, enjoyed his class very much!

Troy is the sweetest man I've ever met, however, that does not make him a great professor. This class was harder than it had to be. The tests are etremely hard & no test reviews. Lab tests are worse, given an overload of memorization with no help narrowing in on what is most important to learn & be tested on. Needs better study guide for lab materl

I took 430 at ARC and 431 at SCC, Troy is the "best"prof in Bio, u learn A&P wich will help u later, he review the Lab befor the exam, wich it helps alot, i had only A's at lab, and i had A in class, you can do it if u put an effort, he is sweet and very helpfull. He's the best bio teacher ever, very clear, you won't have a problem in this class unless you are too lazy to study, cause you do need to study its a hard class. Every thing is written and lay out on the board. The only way "anyone" have issue with this class is because they didn't bothered to study or just expecting an easy A, come on grow up!

I saw several 3's & some 1's from people rating his easy level & my jaw dropped open!!! I'll say this. I have a severe learning disability & earned an A in Troy's class because of how clear & awesome this guy is. If you memorize your lecture notes, you'll ace the tests. I'm not sure if I even needed the book! & labs? Go in & study & you'll pass!

Professor Kjos is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He uses several different formats to teach concepts; slides, videos, physical demos and gives detailed handouts which if you learn as he suggests, have everything on there to get a good grade. He is also one of the nicest teachers you will meet always ready to help. Everybody liked him.

One of the best teachers and classes I have taken. Mr. Kjos is a very enthusiastic teacher and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Take him before you take BIO430! This class will build a strong foundation--trust me Bio430 was tuff and professor kjos was VERY approachable. I even had a family emergency and he met up with me to take my final. Not an easy A but very clear on what exams will be like. Studied with lots of flash cards from his outline and got an A:)

Really cares about his students. If asked a question he will answer it to the best of his ability in order to help all students regarding lectures, homework, or exams. Is also very understandable if a student needs to miss class (sickness or emergency). Would want to have him as my advanced BIO professor if he taught the classes.

Professor Kjos is great! The tests were strictly based off lecture, he provided the lecture notes online and made the lecture easy to understand. He is very caring and wants students to succeed. Studying and memorizing is a must for the tests but you will know exactly what to study.

While the material is tough, Prof Kjos is very understanding how tough it is. He balances homework with exams really well and gives you time to discuss the material after class. He even allows you to ask questions about the exam during the exam. Be prepared to work for this class, but he will help you!

If I could take him for 430 I would. He brings a lot of visual aids to class to explain some concepts. He gives you lecture notes for every lecture and then lectures with animated slides. So you dont even have to take notes as long as you pay attention. All the credit towards your grade is the few homeworks he gives and 4 exams and final.

You will definitely work for your grade. However, he is extremely thorough and accessible with the information. There are no surprises. COVID online class review! First, it is test heavy, but they are not difficult exams. there is an exam every 2 weeks. there is 1 homework assignment due each week and 1 discussion board with a reply every 2 weeks. Uses proctorio. He did such a good job. gives all notes. need a printer. lectures can be repetitive but he makes me laugh

His BIOL100 course is not easy nor is it difficult, your success is dependent on the amount the time and effort you put into the course. It's a great way to prepare for the more advanced BIOL430 & 431. Study, Read, USE the materials he gives you and the exams will be a breeze.

for Bio100 - super clear with class material/(gives feedback!!) - very available to students -interactive lecture videos (as someone w/ short attention span, they were helpful) -and best of all literally gives you a study guide for what will be on the exams!!! class is proctored but I found that this forces me to actually retain the material

His in person lectures were easily digestible and would frequently include experiments to reengage the class when the material became more dense. His tests were difficult due to the subject matter, but very fair. There are few professors who compare!

I dropped out of A&P last semester b/c if I stayed, I was def going to fail. But I took a chance on Prof Kjos this semester & WOW. Best decision ever. He was so good at lecturing that I was truly able to apprehend the content. Love his enthusiasm! I passed with an A, which is a huge accomplishment in such a hard course. No surprises on the exam!

Professor Kjos is a great professor and super sweet, there's a lot of material to cover but he literally gives you everything you need to succeed, and is always available to answer any questions. Coming from someone who hasn't taken a science class in a couple of years. Troy is the man! Even though I got a C, that was completely my fault. He is very clear with his lectures and assignments and cares about his students. There are discussions every two weeks and exams for each unit. One of the best teachers I've ever had! He literally makes notes and study guides for you to print out and use!! If you use the notes and the study guide the unit exams are so easy. His lectures were really memorable and engaging, making the difficult and time consuming material of Biology fun and easier. I will take him for every bio class I can.

Probably the best teacher I've had so far. His lectures can be lengthy only because he spends time making sure he covers every detail of the material. He teaches really well throughout the lectures and doesn't try to trick you on the exam, which is always multiple choice and all questions have definitely been covered throughout the lectures notes.

Professor Kjos is an excellent teacher - his lectures are engaging and he genuinely cares about student success. The class is manageable with consistent effort, and tools like unstuck AI can be super helpful for study prep.

What an amazing professor for such a difficult subject. He makes this subject feel like a breeze. Be prepared to put in effort into studying as the exams were proctored so you can't refer back to your notes. But if you did your studying, you'll pass every exam no matter what! Dr. Kjos is good for this class. Grade is based on exams, homework, and discussions. To pass well, especially with an A, you really have to put in the work and effort of studying for the class. The best online class I've ever taken. His class was super easy to understand. His lectures were very thorough and really makes you understand the material. You do 2 homework assignments and an exam every 2 weeks. He's a great grader and curves grading when everyone does not do good on the exam. Just keep up with homework and study and you'll pass!

I thought that his RMP was overinflated, but he really is the best professor ever. His lectures are probably the most digestible thing ever and teaches using good analogies. Homework and Tests are based off lectures, and the textbook is not really required but very helpful. Also very understanding, and made accommodations when I really needed them.

His primary teaching method was lecture videos (around 4-6 hours per unit split into 30-60 minutes videos) and an exam every two weeks for each unit. He provides notes for you to follow along with the lecture videos and sometimes there is a fill-in-the-blank area. He's very accessible outside of class, and extremely kind.
