Very amusing and interesting teacher. He tells personal stories, which I enjoy. The quizes and tests are pretty easy. If you pay attention in class you will get an A on the tests. They require little studying. Overall, I didn't mind going to this class every MWF.

Pretty cool and kind of funny. He told the same jokes all semester though. He can get kind of boring, but about 75% of the time he is fun. Pretty easy tests/quizzes. Make sure to read the assignments, and study a little bit for the tests and you'll do fine. Oh- he gets really angry when if he sees you not paying attention, so don't let him see you!

i really loved him! hes fun and the class is way easy. he has a cool accent. if you study a little for the tests youll get 100s. plus, you can skip a few classes and it wont hurt you.

Matthews is great! Print out the notes and fill them in you will do good on all the tests. You know when your gonna have a quiz and they are easy ( he even helps on the "hard" questions) I had him for a 7:50 class and i actually stayed awake for the classes!

I actually retained the information he presented, mainly because it's practical... this professor rocks!!

By far the coolest GNED prof out there! Easy fill in the blank notes were a breeze to study and his test came straight from the notes. Amazing class that I loved! I didn't even skip GNED all that much because it was so much fun and interesting!

Dr. Matthews is a straight forward in his teaching methods and stays on track. Reading the online articles are a most for passing the class. Tests are usually what he tells you to review and not too hard. Also, I recommand this man to anyone.

He is the best Gned teacher. He doesn't always give quizes on the days he says and then never gives them. but he does give some pop quizes. overall he is just a great, funny, amusing teacher and i'm glad i had him

He's an easy A if you show up for class and do the quizzes. I love his energy, he actually makes GNED interesting. His stories are hilarious, and you are guaranteed at least once a week to laugh so hard your sides hurt.

Very easy teacher. It's not a difficult class at all. Show up to class, do the readings and you'll be fine. I'm sure that all of the GNED professors are easy, but Mr. Matthews keeps things interesting with his stories. I took him for 101 and will take him for 102 next semester. It's an easy A with a good professor if you take Matthews.

He's definitely a funny guy. You'll spend at least once a class laughing, which always kept me going. He's really easy, but sometimes he'll bring about quizzes on what you learned in the last class period. ALWAYS go to class because he'll randomly have you sign a notecard to receive like 50 bonus points. true story.

Troy Matthews is the man. He is a great guy and loves what he does. He is very real, frank, and down to earth. He is the best GNED professor to take by far. Very practical in the things that he teaches. He is easy-going and very flexible. Only downside is that he is a Cowboys fan.

Matthews is the man! By far one of my favorite professors here at Liberty. TAKE HIM!! lol he's austrailian so that just makes it even better.

Awesome teacher!!! He is able to make learning fun, and to bring humor to the forum of knowledge. I would recommend him to anyone. There are lots of quizzes to take, but this is no problem if you read your assignments. If you are willing ot learn, then this is the teacher to learn from. I actually retained most of everything he taught.

Awesome teacher and all round person! Attendance isn't mandatory all the time, only when there are reading assignment and pop attendances (which he'll tell you about ahead of time). Read the assignments b/c you'll have quizzes on it. Tests are easy - he tells you everything you need to know. Take him he is the BEST!

Took him for both 101 and 102. i enjoyed him more for 102 but he was GREAT both years! Definitely the best Prof to take. Just make sure you read all the assignments (which aren't long) and go to class the day the reading is due (there will probably be a quiz)

Matthews is best teacher you could ask for in the Contemporary Issues classes GNED for short. He is funny, and tells great stories. He really cares about what he teaches, and makes it easy. Gives extra credit, which is so easy. Loves to get know people, and he takes prayer requests too. Real easy A or B class, if you do not show up to class it will

I really really despised the GNED classes, but I had Dr. Matthews for both of them, and he made them worth sitting through...maybe.

Matthews is a great professor. He's funny and if you listen there shouldn't be anything about the class you don't understand. Has regular quizzes, they're easy, the point is your attendance. So unless you're looking for a class that you can skip all the time, there's no reason not to take Matthews for GNED 101 and 102.

GNED is boring, but Matthews is a good teacher who really tries to keep it relevant and interesting. Occasional quizzes on reading from online articles (about one a week) and cumulative tests are easy if you simply read it and look over the notes.

I took GNED 101 with him. He simply rocks. He is an American but speaks like an Aussie, because he spent many years of his life down under. I took GNED 101 with him. I wanted to check if other LU professors had the same sense of humor. I am taking Van Engen now; he is also supercool. But, I am missing Troy Matthews......TROY MATTHEWS ROCKS.

His class is extremely easy- gives study guides for every test and adds 4 points to each test to make up for bad questions. Great stories that correlate with the material- and a great personality. Always willing to talk to you in his office or after class.

I'm not taking Matthews again for 102 only because class was at 7:40. If you think you are a morning person, you are wrong. Register for a later class. He was so fun and enthusiastic. If you go against my advice and take him at 7:40, understand that you will want to skip. Every time you miss a pop quiz, it takes about 4pts off the final grade.

He acknowledges that other people actually have valid opinions and I enjoyed taking GNED with him. He's very understanding and willing to help you out. Professor Matthews is a great man that loves the Lord. He has great stories, but GNED is a very boring class. I do not recommend taking this class in the morning or you will struggle staying awake, even with a funny and interesting professor like Matthews.

Dr. Matthew's makes class fun and relaxed. He enjoys sharing funny stories that are relatable to the material required. If you listen to his stories and remember what he has related them to, studying is not needed. His class is straight forward and applicable.

Dr. Matthews was a great teacher, very funny, kept you interested for the first half of the semester. However, when you got to the second half and realized you only needed to pay attention when the slideshow changed, there was zoning out happening. Most of the notes you take are fill-in-the-blank out of the textbook.

Mathews is a nice guy! He ends his lectures with "be safe. be holy." He truly cares about his students. He has readings online that you have to read and there are weekly quizzes on them (once or twice a week). He doesn't tell you when he's going to give them. He expects you to look at the syllabus because he wrote the dates in there.

Professor Troy Matthews is the best Professor I had my first semester at Liberty University. He is very helpful and easy to understand. He will help you in anyway for you to understand the topic or lettuces. Always do the reading cause next class you have a quiz. Professor Matthews Is my super hero in class!

He's a very kindhearted man, but as a teacher... he's quite juvenile, rambles a lot, and over explains. Pretty typical for an intro class, but I took him as a transfer student junior year. He teaches very much like high school teachers, so I can see why he's a professor for freshman.

Doctor Matthews is a great teacher who truly cares for his students. I would definitely take him again, but he mainly teaches at 8:15. If you have to have him at 8:15 he gives some of the most exciting lectures with his awesome Aussie accent!

Dr. Matthews is loud, but very funny. His Australian accent makes the class very enjoyable, and his enthusiasm makes the class a little more fun. The material is pretty boring, but he does a great job at making the class more interesting. I would definitely recommend him.

I learned so much from his lectures and was really challenged in my faith. If you pay attention during lectures you'll do good in this class. He's very intelligent and super funny. He actually cares about the students. I'd highly recommend taking BWVW 101 and 102 with him.

Troy Matthews is a very rare Professor in a good way. He manages to make the class quite interesting and memorable while at the same time allowing for participation and feedback from students quite often. I always enjoyed his lectures and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I have Dr. Matthews for Biblical worldview 101 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:15. It's hard getting up at 8:15 but knowing he's so energetic and happy makes me want to get up and hear his lecture. He is a very kind and emotional man, he really gets into his lectures and his a very "holy"( )!you will understand that when u get into his class!

Dr. Matthews makes BWVW very enjoyable, which is important since it is so easy. His lectures are fun and engaging so there is never a truly dull moment. You never know what he is going to do so classes are very different from day to day. I would recommend him for at least one BWVW class.

I wish I could choose more tags. He is also extremely caring, hilarious, respected, and gives extra credit. He is such a good teacher I wrote him in for president in the 2016 election.

Dr. Matthews is so funny and easy to listen to- even at 8:15am! His lectures were never boring. I'm definitely taking his BWVW 102 class next semester! The class is already set up to be easy, but Dr. Matthews went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great chance to get an "A".

Dr. Matthews is insane! He is all over the place but it is hilarious. I enjoyed the class a lot. His stories are hilarious. He always makes his class laugh. And with his Australian/ Texan accent, how could he not?! The class itself is very eye opening and looking at life with a Biblical Worldview. Would recommend him to anyone taking that class.

Dr. Matthews was a great professor. He makes class interesting and applicable by telling stories. There were only two tests, about 10 online quizzes, and lots of extra credit oppurtunity - easy A. Only downside is his classs is only at 8:15 and he talks pretty loud which is not a fun combo in the morning lol. Overall though, he's awesome!

Hilarious, caring, and inspiring! Tells amazing stories to effectively illustrate material (which helps me understand and remember the material). TopHat software causes a lot of issues in classroom, such as distractions from many students who were using devices to surf web in class. Although this environment was frustrating, professor was amazing!

Dr. Matthews was the perfect teacher to have at 8:15 in the morning. I took him during his first semester condensing his class down to 2 credits, but everything ran smoothly and efficiently. The assignments were clear and easy to accomplish, and his lectures were entertaining and educational. Please take him if possible for religion!!

Dr. Matthews is a lively professor who is passionate about the subject he teaches. He keeps lectures engaging and makes certain to cover his topics in good detail. I have never felt unprepared for a test in his class. If you're looking for a place to sleep in class, he will wake you up. It's funny for the rest of us.

Prof. Matthews is a great professor and very interesting. He has such a high level of energy that is a little too much for an 8 am class, but otherwise, he is a fairly interesting teacher who is very passionate about where he is from. The class is doable in 8 weeks so I would take the opportunity to get it out of the way.

Dr. Matthews has been one of my favorite professors here at Liberty! He is a ball of energy and made my early morning lectures (I also had him for THEO201) better. He is very wise and is passionate about what he teaches. It is very easy to do well in this class and he offers extra credit.

Great professor! Extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and convicting in the best way. Papers are straightforward, he doesn't grade them harshly. Just do it you'll get a good grade. Quizzes are easy too. Attendance is required only because it's a 100 level class, but his lectures are amazing you won't want to miss class! 10/10 would recommend.

Dr. Matthews is an incredible person. You can tell that he loves what he does. It is hard to pay attention for the whole class/can be boring. Long lectures. I would NOT take the class in 8 weeks because we had to cram in multiple chapters every week and it made the work load pretty heavy. For the most part, quizlet/socratic is your best friend.

Positives: Dr. Matthews is a good professor who grades pretty easily. He starts out class with a devotion before diving into materials. Negatives: I took the class in 8 weeks so it was very work heavy. He's very strict about class participation and will call you out if you don't look like you're focusing.

Professor Mathews made classes incredibly interesting and gave us a fresh perspective on what could be difficult topics. The class has weekly quizzes on a given reading (separate PDFs in Canvas of 5-9 pages). One paper that is short (not in an essay format). If you are okay with the close notes quizzes and do them early you'll be fine.

Dr. Troy Matthews is kind and wants his students to grow in their knowledge of theology and God. The class is composed of quizzes, tests, and two essays. All tests and quizzes are on Canvas and he gives comprehensive study guides for the tests. Lectures are sometimes a little boring or off topic, but overall, I would recommend him for theology.

Dr. Troy Matthews was a great professor. I personally enjoyed his lectures. I took this as an 8:15 class, and you would be surprised at how much energy he brings to the class. The textbook was a work text in tophat; I highly recommend you get it as that's how we took notes, and they were super helpful for the exams. Overall, the workload was good.

I loved taking this class with Professor Matthews. I wasn't sure what to think going into the class but it ended up being one of my favorite classes. You will read a decent chunk of text and take a quiz on it but I didn't find it to be that hard.

Dr. Matthews is one of the funniest professors I've had at Liberty! He talks very fast, but is fun and has an Aussie accent, which makes it so much better. His grading is very easy to follow. If you do the work and follow the rubric you should be good to go! Highly suggest Dr. Matthews!

Professor Matthews is a hilarious professor and is super caring towards all of his students. He puts God above all of his lectures and keeps the classroom lively with his teachings. Highly recommend because he is super enjoyable.

The professor is enthusiastic and engaging, though sometimes goes on tangents. The workload is manageable, with weekly assignments and one paper. Unstuckstudy AI was helpful for preparing for the quizzes.

Dr Matthews was probably one of my favorite professors during my freshman year at Liberty. He really cares a lot about his students and wants to make sure every student is engaged in his lectures. Highly recommend taking a course with him if you're able to.

I took the eight-week class, which meant there were two quizzes per week, in addition to any extra assignments. However, the quizzes were fairly easy, and his lectures were amazing! He is genuinely hilarious, and this class has changed my perspective on many topics. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to take Professor Matthew's class.

Dr. Matthews is an outstanding person and professor! The one reason that my rating dropped to a 4/5 was because the volume was loud for speaking into a microphone. Overall, for the formative and summative grades the notes were encouraged but optional! The quizzes are also really easy as long as you read the passage and was very consistent overall!

Dr. Mattews is passionate about what he teaches. He loves his students. Sometimes he can get carried away with stories and the class can get behind, but other than that, it is an amazing class with him.

A very easy course, definitely the best rlgn105 prof. You do not need to buy the workbook though it helps if you don't like taking notes. If you do the assignments you get good grades and most of the quizzes and tests are rather straightforward. I respected Dr. Matthews as a professor and would definitely suggest him as it is a required course.
