Dr. Mutchler has a passion for science and is a very nice guy. Unfortunately, his class is unbelievably hard for an 1101 class. It is more like an upper level biology class. 11 page study guides and tests that were so difficult the majority of the class failed them. Making an A is not impossible, but extremely difficult. Hugely time consuming class

Nice guy, but this class is insanely hard for a freshman level class. First couple of tests were failed by many. It's his first semester teaching, and tests got much better over the semester with recommendations from students.Huge amounts of information for each test. I learned alot but would have preferred someone else. Very time intensive class

The material in this class is very hard and time-consuming to learn, but it is possible. I would definitely come to class, because I think that the material from his lectures are really important for the tests. It's a hard class, but Dr. Mutchler is very patient and helpful and he wants his students to do well. Be prepared to study A LOT!

Mr. Mutchler was a really nice guy and very easy to understand. Unfortunetly, his class was anything but easy. The hardest freshman course I had to take and probably the most difficult SCI1101 teacher. Study guides for tests are always over 6 pages and cover so much material. Tests are almost impossible to get an A on and a B is even hard work!

Okay professor mutchler is a very nice, understanding, and helpful teacher. I do agree with everyone saying that its a lot of material and its TD US. However, if your one of those people that has a good memory then take this class. All the questions on his test come DIRECTLY from what he tells you to study nothing else. His lectures are pretty boring but he is really amusing and gets really excited about science. He shows funny you tube videos in relation to the subjects. He is a fun teacher but if you're not into science it might be a little difficult.

I do not think his class was as boring as my Sci1102 teacher. if you do the study guides thoroughly you will get an A or B in his exams. Plus he posts all his material on vista before class, so you print it out and don't have to take much notes. Do the labs, even though he doesn't grade them b/c tests will have some questions about it-Recomended

Dr. Mutchler is a great professor!! Its true that the class does cover alot of information, but if you attend the SI Sessions and make sure to ask him questions if you're stuck on a subject then you'll have no problem making a good grade in his class :)

Don't miss a beat with this class. The rhetoric is extensive and requires a considerable amount of attention. TIP: Record the lectures and listen to them in the car, at home or even before going to bed. Dr. Mutchler is a wonderful teacher but challenging to say the least. I love it!

He's a great teacher! He has a great personality and he obviously love what he does. People say he's hard, but those are the ones who never attended class or studied. Study the power points/study guides and youll do just fine!!

Well, i wouldn't say this class is easy. But, he post all his power points online and posts a study guide that is shorter than he used to do. Everything on the test is whats on the study guide. I never went to class and still got a B, but i'm good at teaching myself stuff. If your not, then i wouldn't suggest this professor.

He wasn't incredibly difficult but you defiantly have to study! I did really well in the beginning but I did poorly on one test and walked away from the class with like and 89ish grade and he didnt offer any extra credit! I didnt use the book at all

What probably helped me the most was the SI. She is very helpful! She explains things well and cares about you. If you're struggling and wanting to do good on the tests, go to her sessions. (BTW, she's cute too! :-) )

in my opinion i believe the class was very easy and i walked away with an A. IF you have a good memory and just print and study his power points you will do fine. I really dont know what everyone is talking about, i thought the class was very easy, and hes straight forward. Hes very easy on the eyes

i wanted to drop his class after the first day but im glad i didnt. he seems scary at first but then he is really cool, funny, and interesting!!!!! take him!

Prof. keeps class of 200 relatively interesting, which is hard for any professor. He knows his biology and he loves his algae! :) He's really laid back and intelligent. 4 lab quizzes and 4 tests that may be tricky for some but I managed to get high A's on them all. Read the book. Definitely recommend!

Dr. M is kinda nutty, GO TO CLASS, take good notes, or a camera and take pics of the powerpoints, GOT TO GFO TO CLASS, 3 test and final a few extra credit questions. I got a easy A, go to SI. Science isnt easy for some, this class is tough, but I thought it to be fair and Dr.M to be a great teacher.

Hard class. Questions on test are very nit picky but come from class notes. Power point is not posted online. If you study hard I would expect at least a B. Class in general is interesting. Mutchler is very nice. Don't waste money on book.

If you're needing Ecology, look elsewhere. Mutchler is friendly as all get out and really wants to help you but he stabs you in the back with his exams. They're made artificially more difficult with "all of the above" and "none of the above" responses being present. Grades reports harshly and is critical of your answers.

Okay this is the real deal. I am a 4.0 & on the President's list for 3 straight semesters since starting at KSU. This is my 4th semester & as fine as he is & he is fine...his class is very challenging. I may not make the President's list this semester. With 2 test completed I have an 85. I'll keep you posted. Study, read your book and go to class.

So I hate science, but I love the way professor mutchler teaches. Yes, he teaches from powerpoints.. get over it. Most professors do. Go to class, go to class, go to class!! I didn't buy the book, just took notes from his PPT's and I've made A's on all 3 tests so far. I would recommend him, he cares about the environment & it's not a boring class

Many people thought this class was hard, but i found it to be pretty easy, as long as you attend class and take notes. notes are easy to take because they come from powerpoints. tests can be tricky, but just study the notes ALOT!

Just a warning: while class attendance is not mandatory, you will regret not attending as the tests are fairly difficult and in-depth. Study a lot and you should do fine.

Okay I will tell you how it is: best science teacher, keeps class interesting, test are EXTREMELY EASY, if you go to class and take notes you will do just fine on the tests. Overall, he is such a good professor who is straightforward with what he wants, plus there is a study guide before tests!

I am in all upper level classes. This class is such an easy A! I hear the freshmen complaining in class all the time. Just come to class and pay attention, get an A!

I did not miss a single class,and took notes in every single class and his tests were still difficult for me. He gives 3 tests and a comprehensive final. Textbook usage is minimal.

Go to class, take notes, and make sure to DO THE STUDY GUIDE. If you know the study guide, you will do fine. I hardly went to class at all and I just did the study guides before the tests and I got A's and B's. Would recommend. Good professor, knows his stuff.

Disappointed with my grade, but he's a great professor. The class is comprised of 3 exams and one final. The first 3 exams are worth 100 points and the final is worth 130. I made low B's on all 4 of the exams including the final and still made a C in the class because of how much the final is weighed. Kinda lame if you ask me.

Dr. Mutchler is amazing. Absolutely loved him. You MUST GO TO LECTURE. If you don't want to go to class, do not take him. I attended every class, took detailed notes, studied before the tests and made an A. His tests can be tricky as he wants you to actually think, not just regurgitate definitions. Put in the work and you'll be rewarded.

This professor is nice and willing to help. I took him online and the amount to work required is unbelievable. If you take him, do every bit of the reading, videos, and lectures. Exams are difficult. Not an easy A but I would take him online again. Just be ready for TONS of work. Nice guy though and interesting material. Read through everything!

Good professor. There is a lot of material but if you do the work you'll do fine. Took him online and the class is easy to navigate through. Tests are confusing and hard but there are quizzes, and other activities that count towards your grade.I ended up with a B but never made above a 76 on an exam. If youve taken online classes before you do well

Took summer online. Great Professor. I highly recommend not taking this class over the summer - no material is left out, it is all packed into 8 weeks and is time consuming. Easy B, challenge for an A. Exam 2 is killer, a lot of class failed so study hard! Extremely nice, does helpful videos (most of material is from his videos). He loves science!

Most organized professor I have ever had. He truly is a great teacher of environmental science. Uses lectures, books, MES. No trick to his questions, he just doesn't skip anything. Answers emails/questions quickly. Tough 8 week class, but is manageable with light load. Majority of questions come from his lecture notes, use index for book ?

He is no cakewalk but I made a "b" and I forgot to do 3 quizzes and made a 56 on an exam. It clearly states the guidelines for the class in the syllabus- he lets you drop one quiz and one exam score and offers one extra credit opportunity-- what more do you need? If you adhere to the syllabus and follow instructions and deadlines, you'll be fine.

Not as hard as I thought Mutchler would be. He dropped a few quizzes, an exam and I got a grade the high 80s. Lectures were interesting and he explained stuff clearly, but the way he worded his questions made quizzes tricky — still, pay close attention to lectures and you should do fine. He gives lots of material for summer, but very doable.

I took him for an online class. He assigns a lot of work for the tests and the tests are super difficult. All the assignments are clear but you definitely have to work hard and do all the work he assigns.

I liked this online class. If you actually read the chapters, the tests are not hard at all. The people who reviewed him previously obviously did not read the material and do the online labs. I got an A pretty easily and I'm not good at science.

Extremely attractive man with a wonderful crude sense of humor :) Very hands off, explains enough for you to understand but allows you to work independently.

The online class was composed of a quiz every week, 3 tests, a final, and two discussion posts. The first test was extremely easy, but they progressively increased in difficulty in my opinion. The best way to handle this class is to get together with other classmates because all exams are THE EXACT SAME QUESTIONS as your fellow classmates.

Best lab professor I've had. He actually facilitates you teaching yourself rather than shoving information down your throat. Always available during office hours. Must know stats! Not too much outside class work.

Very easy online class. Quiz once a week and then test every 3 weeks. Discussion posts and of course the Mastering Environmental Assignments. I would take him again if he taught 1102.

Good professor. Well structured course. A lot of work and a lot of reading. Provides one extra credit quiz and drops two lowest quizzes and an exam.

I hated this class, but just because the subject was already my least favorite. There was a ton of busywork and I don't feel like I really learned anything. However, Mutchler offered a lot of extra credit and dropped a lot of grades, which made a huge difference-- so if you're just taking science because you have to, I'd recommend him.

I took this class online, and Im not going to lie the tests and quizzes are pretty difficult. You can pass, and even get an A, if you do the homework, and use quizlet. The professor himself is like any other online teacher. Little communication, but accessible if needed.

Dr. Mutchler cares about his students and the quality of materials. The quiz and exam questions were way more in-depth than a general-ed class should be. He basically asked us to apply concepts that were just learned. He realized that this was an issue and made the correction right away. Albeit it is a hard class, I would take it again.

Very easy, low-stress science class if you don't procrastinate. Read and do the mastering activities and you should do well on the quizzes. Use the study guide for the test. He posts powerpoints and online labs (they aren't graded). Lockdown browser, but no camera used. Quizlet and Google helped with mastering, quizzes, and tests!

Professor Mutchler is very good at what he does. Although a lecture hall with over 200 students can get pretty boring he does find ways to keep it interesting. You are graded on 3 tests, and online modules due before every test. DO THE LABS he assigns because you will see questions about them on your tests.

His class is super easy and he cares about his students. All his powerpoints are online and the tests are exactly whats on the powerpoints and the labs. Attendance isnt taken or mandatory. I only showed up on test days, super easy A.

BRO take this guy!! Always lets you out of lab early, super caring, wants you to understand what you're doing, helps you as much as you need but also lets you do your own stuff! All around super cool guy. You'll get an A as long as you show up and pay attention!

He is an interesting person and he really cared about how his students were doing in his class. Like we could all tell he was sad about bad grades. He is always willing to help anyone and very reliable.

Take this class if you enjoy a fun, very chill and casual learning environment. He created an open environment where everyone feels comfortable to be a part of the conversation. Not a lot of homework, 30-45min a week, no reading. Makes learning pretty dry stuff fun and interactive. Tests are scantrons, and pretty easy as long as you study.

He is a really good professor and wants everyone to do good. He's funny and tries to make the lectures as fun as possible. 4 tests and homework online which is really easy and helpful. He explains everything well and gives you everything you need to do good on test.

Professor Mutchler is not a bad professor, he gives a decent amount of easy extra credit opportunities. His exams and quizzes do require lockdown browser. The way he words some of his quiz/test questions can be confusing and unnecessarily difficult. Most of the subject in this class you probably already learned in high school, easy B.

I took this class online in 8 weeks, and got an A. There is a lot of reading but it's doable, i.e. I work full-time, and took another online class, and still managed. Everything is laid out clearly and he is organized. He's got videos to go along with the reading which also helps in remembering the material for quizzes and tests.

Was initially worried because of the past reviews for him, but he's a good choice for ecology. He tests your understanding of the material (not simple memorization), so be sure to really study for this class. Lectures were interesting and plenty of time given for the tests. Got a B because of one bad test grade so don't slack.

Dr. Mutchler is funny and entertaining. He obviously cares a lot about his students and their successes. However, this is not an easy A- he makes you really learn and understand the content in depth, and the tests are pretty hard. His lectures and the textbook are used heavily on quizzes and in reports. Study hard and go to class!

Going to lectures, usage of the textbook, & reviewing slides all help comprehend the material & vocabulary. Before buying see the textbk he uses. There were four projects that showed up on exams. Exam questions cover a lot of ground using applications-based, multiple-choice options that sound similar so study hard. He is approachable for questions.
