Wonderful professor!!! Very helpful and enthusiastic. She is extremely knowledgable and articulate. Fair marker and very approachable. I will be looking to take more of her classes.
She was a great prof! I would take more classes with her. Exams come directly from lecture notes. Overall I really enjoyed this class!
I really liked Tru. It bothered me slightly how her lecture notes were an exact regurgitation of the textbook, but she did offer some useful examples in class. Very helpful over email, and is extremely knowledgeable in the area of child development. Overall, really good.
I enjoyed the subject Tru was teaching, but her notes came straight out of the textbook and she went through way too many slides in one class. If you're not one of her favourites in class she's not very approchable. Her first exam was suprisingly hard but the next ones were easier.
LOVE Tru. She is the best professor I have had by far. She makes class very interesting and her tests are very fair if you listen in class and study, She also makes interesting projects and is very helpful. I go out of my way to take her classes. I highly recommend her.
Tru is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and ALWAYS willing to help. If you have any issues, she will bend over backward to accommodate concerns or problems. Excellent lecturer, fair grader, easy tests, open to feedback (be constructive, Team).
She's so nice. Ask for help and she'll find time for you. Overall, I love her class.
shes kinda annoying to listen to. she jokes alot and kind of makes it awkward. which is unfortunate because shes super nice one on one. i dont understand psyc.... therefore i do not like the class. quite dull
Good teacher, marks hard but just study her notes lots and read the text!
The only problem I had with her class is she crams way too much info into one lecture. She also has a huge group project that requires a lot of meeting up outside of class with group mates. If you dont have time to read the whole textbook for the class you will barely squeak by with a decenent grad. She is a great person but it is a tough class.
Amazing professor, I loved taking her class and she made everything so easy to understand. I'm definitely going to look hard to find other classes of hers to take
One of the best prof's I've had! Makes content clear with a lot of elaboration and examples of what it means. If you study for the exam and know the material, you should ace it. Super helpful and nice too.
Tru was awesome! So nice! she made the information very interesting so that i paid attention during class and therefore didn't really have to study at all. Very easy tests as long as you pay attention and go to most classes
Tru is one of the best professors I have ever had at Mount Royal. She is a really good lecturer, very funny, and extremely engaging!! She is extremely nice, and always willing to help you if you need it. I ended up taking all three of her classes.
Tru is a really nice lady and she knows her stuff. That said, she reads off the powerpoints during class so you don't really need to go to class - nothing in class that you wouldn't get on your own. She posts her notes which are really great and her tests are easy (matching questions!!). Would recommend overall. Group project though = dumb
Class is just a regurgitation of the textbook. Her powerpoints are insanely long and full paragraphs are from the textbook. Easy marker, easy tests but if you want to learn something take the class from someone else. If you don't mind paying to have someone read the textbook to you then take her class.
This class was very well organized. Lecture notes were mostly just from the text, however she makes sure to include other facts and videos to make sure you grasp the concepts. Tests are very simple and she is a good grader. Tru is hilarious and keeps you focused on what you are learning about. I would definitely take another class with this prof.
I find Tru hilarious. Her lectures are based off the textbook. You don't have to attend class, but you definitely should because she provides you with clear examples. Tests are extremely easy, they were easy A+ for me. The downside to this class was the presentation. Expect yourself to be a presenter! Other than that, RECOMMEND!
I like Tru as a person, but her classes aren't that great. Lectures are literally copy/pasted from the textbook (so don't bother buying it) and are extremely long. Presentations require that you meet up multiple times before presenting, and take a considerable amount of work. Tests are extremely easy.
Tru was a very helpful prof for this class. She was able to make even the most boring things seem interesting, and provided lots of examples to help make things more clear. The hardest part of this course was the project, but Tru was able to give lots of assistance when we needed it. This was my second class with True, and I 100% reccomend her.
Tru's lectures are really entertaining. She can be a bit of a hard marker on tests but you can tell she cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. Would definitely recommend!
The presentation was useless. She could've given us short quizzes instead of the presentation + bibliography (with a summary). The mid terms especially the multiple choice part was pretty hard. The lectures were based on the textbook so skipping was fine if you read the textbook and understand the concepts. p.s. the lectures are very dry.
Tru's tests are so hard. If you do not give the exact definition word for word from her powerpoints she marks it wrong. BEWARE.
I took life span with her and got an A. The midterms are based off of her lecture/textbook, she would prepare a kahoot practise quiz and at least 1 or 2 question from there would come on tests. So advantage of that. And be prepare to study for this course
I never missed one of her classes, she was entertaining, interesting and gets points across clearly. Uses a lot of personal experiences for examples which helps me remember course material. Very friendly and funny, and has a good sense of humour, I HIGHLY recommend taking this class with Tru!
Tru's class was very entertaining. Jot down every example she has and you'll be golden for the course. Her midterms are very difficult if you memorize the definitions opposed to the examples (which was my mistake for the first midterm) and then when I memorized the examples, her final was a walk in the park. I would recommend her for this course.
Tru is honestly one of my favourite professors. She is so caring and really just wants you to succeed. Highly recommend.
Tru is amazing! She is very specific on what she wants especially for exams, but she is reasonable. She gives really good feedback and if you read her instructions carefully and follow them you will do just fine. Her examples in class are extremely helpful and she is so chill and funny. I definitely recommend her!
Tru added an much-enjoyed element to the class that otherwise had a ton of sheer material to know. She brings personality to her lectures and always has a answer for you, even if you've got a lil sass coming back your way. Chances are, if you get that, you've already earned her respect as well.
Tru is great and is straightforward. She shares fun stories that helps with memorizing certain concepts. I haven't approached her for help yet, but she gives off this vibe that she is very approachable. Looking forward to having her again in the future.
She was my favorite prof of the semester! Includes subtle humor and tells stories and gives good examples. She includes powerpoint notes online but they're fill in the blank, so have 'em open or write most of the content before class. But overall I enjoyed her personality much more than most professors, which made the class fun!
Tru is passionate about her job but she is also very particular. The one thing I did not like about this class was there was a test about every 2 weeks she makes you do 4 tests all weighted evenly which sounds great at first but its a bit difficult and a lot of energy to study that often. She also has a paper that she marks difficult on!
Tru is caring & very enthusiastic in PSYC. Just a heads up that this is a 3rd year course workload, there will be 4 exams that worths >70%. Instead of studying super hard, READ precisely and UNDERSTAND the concept thoroughly. PLAN for the paper ahead. My final grade does not reflect my actual understanding, and don't be shy to ask for her help! :)
Tru is an absolutely hilarious prof, with an amazing sense of humour. She does like to get up on her soapbox a lot, which is both hilarious and informative. She does a great job at making the class fun and memorable.
The best supervisor. With her, you can choose your own topic, design your own project & you have oodles of independence. She doesn't hover or helicopter professor. I asked for so much writing feedback, & she was always willing to provide lots of it. Her comments always had a constructive tone & she helped me improve my writing & research skills.
What annoys me about Tru is that she plays the role of being this uppity, charming and caring prof, but she marks so hard. She's smart but dresses and acts like she's 13. 4 tests at 18% and a group project at 10% its ridiculous. She is so rigid, and I will not take a class with her again.
The best proff in the psychology department
Love her
Tru is very approachable and knowledgeable in her field and in her classes. She brings humor and personal stories to make concepts and loads of material more understandable.
I loved Tru! She had the best lectures, to be honest she said to get the textbook, I did but never read it and got an A! Shes funny and is willing to give you redues on assignments if you ask. Extra research credit is offered. She also will answer emails fairly quickly. I would take her class again in a second. Made my 5 courses less stressful.
Tru is one of my absolute favourite profs. Her online lecture powerpoints were SO helpful with her voice overs and super easy to understand. She emails back very fast and is extremely helpful and detailed when you ask her any questions. I cant wait to take another class with her again! Shes super kind n cheers you on the whole semester to succeed!
This is my second time taking Tru's class and that wasn't by mistake. She is one of the best psych profs at MRU. She knows what she is talking about and uses real life examples as a way to understand definitions and uses those for her exams which is super helpful. Her lectures are also super interesting and not dry which keeps you engaged.
Tru is an amazing and caring professor. For intro psych there werent many papers compared to tests which mainly have situational questions. If you take notes off her power point and do the quizlets she provides, I almost guarantee youll get an A. She makes you work for it, but holds your hand as you do.
Tru is a good prof for this class. She makes her tests ALL scenario-based and so make sure you know the definitions of everything. Everythin is based on her lecture slides so honestly you don't need the textbook at all. There are about 3 exams, 6 quizzes and 6 assignments in this course. The research credit is also offered. Was a GPA booster for me
She's really nice and gives great feedback. Her lectures are very descriptive and engaging. There are a lot of small assignments and short quizzes but they aren't difficult and help boost your grade.
Tru is a great professor. Lectures are aimed at what you want and ask for. If you ask her to lecture a chapter she will, or you can ask questions. She provides resources so textbooks were not mandatory but were nice to have. She is very easy to talk to and is very good at teaching the material. Assignments were easy and often enjoyable to complete.
Tru is a really sweet and caring professor but her asynchronous psychology class is not the best. Her PowerPoints are information heavy too much information for a person to take in in just a couple of weeks. Her midterms are application based questions. You will shocked to see your marks after certain assignments as she is a tough marker.
Tru is a professor that is caring and will explain concepts when you need her to. But the powerpoints for lectures are very heavy and when attending class, she only goes over questions anyone has. There were 5 quizzes, 6 assignments, 3 midterms, and the final. The one nice thing was the research experience which boosts your grade.
Tru is really nice and will respond on emails right away when you don't understand something. She is heavy on slides/readings and is more on self-learning, so be ready to learn on your own. The synchronous classes are only there to answer questions. Overall, she really cares and wants the best for students but you have to do most on your own.
Expects you to read entire chapters plus 130 slides worth of narrated power points. This is an intro course and it never felt like one. There was more work for this course than my core courses. Definitely would not take again.
WORST PROF OF MY DEGREE! Expect to teach yourself everything, to be unable to see your tests after receiving grades unless she reads it to you, 4 tests (timed, unable to go back and unable to see all the questions at once), and to get terrible marks. OH and her powerpoints are all about 100 narrated slides PER CHAPTER. Honestly, avoid avoid avoid.
She’s honestly a really good prof, her google slides for class are VERY VERY excessive. There’s so much to read but honestly if you go by the slides you can pass the class, I didn’t really read the textbook because her slides have an overload of material
Very kindhearted & genuinely cares for/tries to help out her students where she can. She is very accommodating and easy to get into contact with. Tries to be engaging but with the online format I found it a little difficult to stay focused during lectures. The assignments are rather quick and easy to complete and the tests are by the book.
I love Tru she was a great prof. You don't have to read the powerpoints she provides just get the text book and take notes on the chapters much easier/ better understanding. Lectures aren't necessary to attend but Tru is super nice. She doesn't give feedback unless you ask. Her quizzes and tests are fairly easy if you know the material.
I like her as a prof, but I don't think her teaching style this semester was for me. She seems caring but her slides were just way too long and right from the textbook (which was okay cause I ended up not using the textbook). However, I really liked her tests as they were straightforward. I would take her class again but not online asynchronous.
Tru is the most amazing prof I have had, she is so caring and she is not a hard marker, her tests are simple, some harder questions but that is to be expected. I loved her class and she is very organized and sends out reminders when things are about to be due. We had assignments, quizzes, and midterms and she graded very fast. Simple assignments.
Tru was sweet, very caring. If I were staying in psych, I would have her as a prof again for sure. I just found psych boring, and bland. Honestly, at MRU psych just feels like its full of people who don't know what they want to do, or want to role play mini doctor.
I am honestly so confused why she has such high ratings. I was really excited to take her class but this has to be one of the most challenging classes I have taken. Her tests are entirely unrelated to the slides you have to teach yourself everything and even then the questions she puts on the exams make 0 sense.
Classe over loaded. Too many dead lines. Say she is flexible, but isn't in reality. Missing of compassion for her students.
As a non psychology major student, I had a hard time understanding what we had to know and understanding the content on slides. Lots of info on slides but hard to follow. Tru is very caring & is very understanding, best profs I've had for compassion but not content. I would sign up to take a class due to Tru's compassion, but not for content
Tru's exams were brutal, and her attitude didn't make it any better. She's quite condescending toward students, but will answer your emails quickly. Tru typically reads off the slides, so class isn't mandatory, but be aware of the wording she uses when describing content as these will appear in the quizzes (word-for-word).
I really struggled in this class and Tru was not much help. Puts on a nice act but in reality she could care less about your success. Her exams were extremely difficult and that was evidently shown in the class averages. Would not recommend taking her if you care about your mental health or gpa.
Overall, I liked this prof but her teaching style wasn't for me. Had a hard time focusing during class so it was nice that her lectures were available online. Tests were easy as long as you studied the slides/lectures. I never used the textbook and didn't need to. Not sure why other reviews say tests were hard, other profs have much harder ones.
Very good prof. I could've easily done better if I put more time into the course. Exams pretty straight forward and based completely on lectures. Very easy going and understanding. No textbook required. Gives great examples for every topic and makes sure you understand before moving on. Has all narrated lectures online :)
Her lectures can move very quickly so if you're taking notes by hand pull up the powerpoint so you can fill in what you miss during her demonstrations. She's very clear in her explinations and has good breaks through out in the form of anecdotes and videos.
So sweet and lectures are as interesting as possible with some material being boring. Easy marker and tests weren't too heavy.
Course is content heavy, be aware this is a course required for nursing students. assumes that everyone taking this class is a nursing student or a psyc student. Not flexible for office hours. Exams are awful. Course is exam/quiz based. Class average low. Affected my mental health. Harder than major courses. Does not care about ur success&health
She reads off of the slides, so lectures aren't necessary to attend as the slides are online. She is very sweet and quirky. Helpful if you ask questions, and even implemented bonus assignments and help sources for those of us who were not doing so well. So much content though. Talks very fast so hard to follow along in lectures.
Tru is my favourite psychology teachers at MRU! She genuinely cares for the wellbeing and success of her students and even offered extra credit assignments for those that were struggling. She's also on the easier-side of psych professors
I LOVE TRU! Her teaching style is very powerpoint-heavy, but can easily be done at home - great examples on foggy topics in class as well! One of the best things about Tru's teaching style is that grades are around 60/40 for exams and other class assignments. I literally had 60s on every single exam but still received an 83% in the class! I
Tru is AMAZING. An absolute gem of a professor. As a first-year student, I struggled a lot in my new university atmosphere when making the rapid switch from high school to college. The examples she gives in class for topics really help in guiding comprehension even for stubborn students like myself. In the end, I got an 85% which is my first ever A
Keeps lectures interesting, I found her examples were consistently sticking in my memory. Evidently cares about students and very friendly. Highly recommend !
Tru was nice overall, I cannot say I loved taking it online, but this was during Covid after all. Overall the class was good, it was informative and I felt I learned a lot because she is a really fair grader. More profs at MRU should learn, that by grading fairly, student feel more motivated to get involved in the work.
Taking class with Dr. Kwong was relatively easy. I did not attend her classes and only attended the exams (3 midterms and 1 final). Definitely read the textbook and study her narrated powerpoints, as she sometimes will let you know what to study for.
She's genuinely a great prof. Her lectures are very clear and easy to follow. She gives many chances to improve grades with bonus assignments (optional) and actually cares about her students. Her feedback is also helpful :)
LEMME TTELL YOUU TRU IS THE MOST AMAZING PROF EVER. She cares about her students, and understands how difficult school is so she doesn't give out too much work. If you attend her lectures you will for sure pass with an A. Her exams are pretty straightforward and are mostly from her slides.
Tru is the most caring prof I have taken so far. She really does care about her students doing well in the course and she provides so much help if needed. Her tests are usually just based on her slides and the examples she mentions during class time. This class is lecture heavy but she does a great job to make her students less stressed.
Tru has set her students up for success. Online pre-recorded lectures for when you're sick, or want to review. She lectures REALLY quickly so if you haven't reviewed the material ahead of time, it's hard to keep up. Fair grader, open to conversations. A quirky and weird person who cares about her students doing well.
idk if i just had a bad experience but i found tru to be very condescending both in person and over email. half of her exam questions are based on really specific material instead of general concepts which can be frustrating as she does not give out study resources for tests. overall, not great!
Tru is a Gem! Respectful of cultures. She cares so much for her students even outside the classroom. Keeps snacks in her office for students who may be hungry. Is very good at explaining concepts. Attendance is not mandatory but extremely valuable for doing well in the course. Exams are a little tough- important to know definitions and specifics.
She's a really chill and funny prof. She uses personal stories to help with explaining terms and such. She does go a bit fast with the slides in my opinion, but it's nothing that affects the marks. The slides have audio with them so if something doesn't make sense, you basically got her there to explain it lol.
Tru is a great prof and person. She makes all the classes engaging and the assignments are pretty simple and graded fairly. There are also no extremely difficult or trick questions on her exams, so if you show up to class and pay attention you will do well. Pumped to take another course with her next year.
Tru is truly an easy grader. However, she was very unclear about what was to be expected on midterms and the final. She also goes through her notes VERY quickly and you often have to ask her to slow down. Tru's lectures were often very confusing.
Tru is an amazing prof! Assignments were super easy, exams were straight forward as long as you attended her lectures. Went a bit fast but slides were posted so it was manageable. She gives great examples of concepts and wants students to succeed!
Taken 3 Psych courses with Tru (1104, 3351, & 4901) and I will admit I didn't like her at first but my God, she knows her stuff. Super caring and flexible as long as you communicate. Sometimes she can be nitty-gritty with her marking so ask her questions leading up to deadlines. Will write Grad School recommendation letters!
Tru was honestly the best psychology prof I have ever had. She cares about her students and wants you to succeed in her classes. Her exams were not difficult, and her classes were very interesting. This was the one class I looked forward to and did not dread doing a test for. 10/10 recommend and would take again!
Tru keeps slides informative and to a minimum. Sends out summary emails every Friday on what was done and what to expect the next week. Pretty fast at replying to emails. Easily approachable. Can't think of anything she needs to do better.
Her approach to presentations can feel harsh, with deductions for reasons that don't always make sense. The exam structure unfair, too few questions. For instance, if you're unfamiliar with one of the two examples covered out of 200 slides, it can lead to a low mark, even if you've studied thoroughly. Never available other than office hours.
Her tests were very reasonable and she seems to care a lot about her students. She is very laid back and calm. Definitely cares about the mental health of students and is passionate about what she teaches.
One of the best psych prof at MRU! very genuine and helpful person. You could easily get an A by studying her slides for her exam! I recommend all the classes she teaches.
Tru is genuinely so amazing. Her lectures are straightforward & I love that she doesn't completely base her lectures off the textbook bc/ she knows money is tight for some. Her tests are well done and she cares so much ab/ her students. I highly recommend her!
Tru was a wonderful prof to have. She was a very easy marker, her online quizzes were very easy. The final project was kinda a pain but it was not difficult. I recommend her to anyone who just wants to get a good grade and barely do anything. no assignments.
tru reads off the slides when she is presenting which demotivates students from showing up to her classes. slides are very throughout and self explanatory so self study is fine. midterms are easy and online, and the group project is the most fair from all the psych professors. quizzes are online as well. okay teacher.
Tru was a great professor. I'm not a psychology major, so I didn't enjoy the class content much, but it was easy to do well. The online quizzes were very easy, and the exams were fair. Her PowerPoints were super detailed, which was really helpful if you couldn't make it to class. Overall, I'd definitely recommend her for this course!
Loved her class! She was so fun and caring. All tests (including the final!) were done on laptops and were easy to do. Many little assignments that you can easily get an A+ on. She is so hilarious in class! The textbook is used a bit, but it is mostly lecture material.
Tru was a good prof. Explains things pretty well. Sometimes her tests are difficult because it seems like there can be multiple answers. However, class wasn't too difficult. There is a group project, and textbook needed.
One of the best professors. Answers questions thoughtfully, easy to approach, puts in effort to know you, and tests are very straightforward. The amount of effort you put into studying really shows in your grades. Lectures are so detailed and she makes note-taking easy.
Great prof. Nice and can give extensions, also has all her lectures narrated and online so if you miss a class you're fine. Her tests are not too long and easy to prepare for. She has quizlets and kahoots to use to study. I didn't end up using my textbook at all. All of the test content could be directly found in her wonderfully prepared slides.
I've had her for two classes now. She's a nice person and also descriptive and teaches well. You don't need a textbook because everything is in the slides. Overall would take again.
Good notes and study material, needs to have more interesting lectures
