This professor moves at an extremely fast pace. It is almost impossible to ace this class even if it were the only one being taken. I recommend not to take her class on top of even an extra liberal art class. Her exams are ridiculously detailed and long.
she has really high standards. I flunked the midterm and the final, and I never missed a class, I partcipated in class, read, did the homework, and extra credit. It was too difficult to show us slides of artists work and expect us to know it. I was taking 9 (nine) classes to boot.
This teacher is extremely hard. If you study the highest you can probably get is a B-. Tests are hard too there are some slides she includes that you haven't even gone over in class.
She's a crazy woman! She LOVES what she teaches and the passion is catching. She does move fast, but if you pay attention and take massive notes, you'll do well. A good grasp of english is essential. The foreign students in my class told me they had a rough time of it.
I'm an A student, got a C- in her class, her tests were unreasonable and extremely detailed to the point of being irrelevant to the subject being tested on. Would recommend dropping her class and taking it with someone else. When asked for help she was rude. Calls on people in class and if you answer wrong she WILL make you feel like an idiot
Interesting lectures. Though she can be quite a *bleep* at times.
she is a very difficult person. Don't take her class
She was really obnoxious and didn't entertain any ideas that didn't agree with hers. a real college professor art snob....how cliche
No Comments
this art snob can't even make art interesting! there's ZERO tolerance for discussion if you do not agreee with her, long winded lectures hard to retain, annoying voice difficult to listen to and tests IMPOSSIBLE to ace.
thank god for a sure A. ssnnzzzz.....
i'm an international student and the first lecture class i ever took in the US was hers and it killed me. she's not a bad professor, she knows her stuff, but she's wayyyy too tight with her teaching. it was i miracle i got a C-. everything thanks to a girl who literally saved my ass by helping me study. (thanks katty)
the longest 3 hours you'll ever have to sit through
don't ever take her class! it's sucha waiste of 3 hours that you'll never get back! she's so picky and ridiculous with how she wants things. don't waiste your time!
Don't never ever take her class. horrible....

run for your life!
Totally crazy. Knows alot bout art. She expects us to be history of art majors but we are not. She should be teaching at another school. But she is awful. Drop the class if you can.
Had her my first semester and felt like throwing myself out of a window. she made me hate art, now i can't even visit the MET. it reminds me of her. expects us to memorize brush strokes and painting styles as if we're art majors. CRAZY!!!
Prof. Trudy knows her stuff, that much cannot be debated. However, she tends to be NASTY if her lecture is interrupted with questions, comments or discussions. Not very helpful or warm at all. The class can be VERY boring at times - bring coffee. For some reason she feels that if your late you should wait in the hall..& your not paying her for tha
tests really focus on detail you have to be aware of that. good to have the textbook to study for tests but no need in class. good to attend the class always and go to museum for extra credit because it will help you with your grade . and she is not that bad
I had her 16 years ago! All the reviews are true! I am 100% amazed that FIT still has this woman as an art history teacher! Drink a Venti Red Eye from Starbucks b4 class! She is so boring! I went to Florence after the class! It's the only way, you won't hate Art History after taking this class!! Good Luck!
doesn't like to explain questions. she tells you to look in the book or in your notes. if you didn't take notes or were absent that day, face it your out or luck in that class! my advise is to run far away from that teacher and get another. Quickly!!!!!!!!!! out of the whole class only one student got 76points on the 1st test everyone else 20-50???
The worst teacher i have ever had in my life. She doesn't answer your questions. She doesn't teach what is going to be on the test. For the midterm and final you have to go to the MET and the Frick and look and comment on about a hundred different paintings. I don't know how she is still teaching. More than half of my class had to withdraw.
Proff Grace is an walking-talking art encyclopedia. AND she is tough like a rock. Now, make your pick. I worked the most for her class, and got a "graceful" D. ESL students (like me) BE AWARE! her English is top-notch, don't take it if you are not in good command of English, yet. She come's "as is", no warranties !! I Loved her,I hated her.
She is pretty mean, but she REALLY knows her stuff. You can't ask her a question (unless you're prepared to meet the "devils stare") but if you work hard in your class and just study, you can do alright. I am by no means a straight-A student, but I knew exactly what she was testing for, and I studied hard for it.
All of these comments are right. I thought that this class could not possibly be as bad as i heard, but i was wrong. so wrong. get a new professor immediately.
You just have to try to stay awake in that class and you'll be fine. Her leniency with attendance makes her admirable.
She is well versed in the subject. That is ruined by her nature of teaching. I was bored and she was rather mean. Her attention to detail on her tests was ridiculous. Listen very carefully, bc ANYTHING that comes out of her mouth is fare game, relevant to the course material or not.
STOP READING AND SWITCH OUT NOW. Horrid Horrid Horrid. She does know what the hell she's talking about, but she expects you to get up to her level as if we were all into art history. Her tests seemed so ridiculous. I did the extra cred & both of her Museum Projects and spent so many hours in those wretched museums just to get an F.
as im sure you have all read in other posting, DROP THIS CLASS IF YOU HAVE HER! she has no compassion for emergency situations, she is not flexible, she is degrading, passive and rude. get out while your gpa is still high.
she is not as bad as said. if you pay attention, and really pay attention so you dont have to ask her to repeat what she just said, you should be fine. she works you really hard, but if you work hard, it pays off. basically, dont be a slacker. i worked my ass off for her class & it payed off.
I learned nothing about color theory in this class. I even noticed that she gave us the wrong information a few times. I didn't think she was mean or rude, just not very informative.
I am a straight A student, and am failing her class. She is very smart, and I am very interested in the topic, however, she expects you to know everything she knows. I read these reviews and saw it as a challenge- DON'T DO THAT! get out! This class is so hard.
I work hard. I paid attention in this class and took about 6 pages of notes per class. But yet, I am doing terrible! She only has a midterm and a final for grades. Nothing else, and her extra credit points are based on how well you did on the exam. If you do well on the exam you will get more extra credit points, if not, oh well. Drop it.
She is the worst professor I've ever had. Her lectures are disorganized and often wander into pointless trivia. Worse, she's unbelievably rude and actually loses her temper while lecturing. Don't waste your tuition money. Drop the class.
switch out.
As soon as you find out who your professor is for art history and you see the name "trudie grace", without any sort of hesitation, DROP THE CLASS. Period. Don't even think twice. You will fail. No doubt about it. And if you're lucky and somehow do pass, your GPA will suffer greatly. Also, she is one of the rudest, most arrogant people i've ever met
Grace was by far the worse professor I have ever had. A subject that I usually do very well in I failed and had to have her drop me so my GPA wouldnt suffer. She spends alot of time talking about trivia that by the time she gets to her point you missed it, and when it shows up on the test you dont know the answer. If you get her DROP THE CLASS!!!!
all i have to say is WOW!! I really admire those who got an A in her class!! SERIOUSLY, just get out before you can! if its too late for that make a spreadsheet with all artist names, thier styles, patrons, cities where they worked, all the influences she asks for, color code the entire spreadsheet by era.. may God be on your side & STUDY every day
LEAVE THIS CLASS IF YOU HAVE HER...DONT HESITATE LIKE I DID...SHES HORRIBLE VERY HARD AND VERY UNREASONABLE...EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW EVERYTHING SHE KNOWS...GET A NEW TEACHER..I HAVE DR. MICHAELSON WHOSE AMAZING AND I HAVE ALL A'S SO IT SHOWS THAT IT WAS THE TEACHERS LACK OF TEACHING SKILS
lol I was in class with the kid below me last semester that was so freaking funny when she screamed about that but yeah she is horrible!!!! get a new teacher becuase you will fail...i studied all day long for both tests and only got a C in the class, other than that im a straight a student. trudie grace should go to hell
Prof. Grace has a very interesting personality, shes very sweet and nice and loves to talk about the artworks but then on exam day turns into a vicious monster for some reason. Completely out of the blue!!! I had to drop her class because it was so intense towards the end of my semester. On my list of the worse professors at FIT!
Alright so I'm putting this as nicely as possible. Get out while you can. If you heard she's awful, she's worse then that. She is nasty, rude and thinks because she knows a lot about art history that everyone should. She knows her stuff, but is HORRIBLE. I'm a member of the honor society at FIT and I got a C+, and I studied my butt off. Get out
This prof is CHALLENGING but good if ur willing to work. To do well, you MUST know how to take good lecture notes. Doing well in the course depends on learning and understanding notes so you can apply that knowledge to tests/papers.
really, just don't even consider this class! Horrible lady, she is just horrible. Save yourself the time and money, honestly.
Her tests are horribly hard if you did not take good notes. I recommend a laptop for this class, because even if something she says is pointless, trust me, it isn't.
If you TAKE GOOD NOTES, you can easily get 100%. All tests are solely based on her lectures, so if you want to do well, TAKE GOOD NOTES. The professor herself is very nice and extremely accommodating. I really enjoyed this class. If you TAKE GOOD NOTES, this class is beyond easy.
Horrible. She puts random things into the test. She expects you to know as much as she does and when you don't she gets offended. She grades very harshly. Don't be fooled when she says you can write a little for her museum projects, be very detailed! The tests and museum projects are never good enough for her.Having her will deifnitely lower your GPA
This lady is insane. She expects you to memorize everything she says right after she says it. She also expects you to love art history as much as she does. She teaches you as if it's your major even though it's just a liberal arts class everyone is forced to take, whether you like it or not. If you get her, I would reconsider taking the class.
terrible as a teacher and as a person
The first month was nothingness. I don't know how students can sit through her class and take notes! I went to sleep every class; then, I stopped going. Follow everyone's advice and DROP THE CLASS! Totally a waste of your time unless you already KNOW A LOT ABOUT ART!
The worst teacher, drop!!!
Worst proffesor ever !Dont take her class at all. Extremely hard and not good with reviews either.
Worst Teacher EVER!!!! She is a little old lady but extremely terrifying! If you go to every class, take notes and study hard you will do good! Dont bother asking her for help or clarification she will not help you. Drop her class immediately!
drop her class!
So at the beginning of last semester, I read these reviews and was terrified. I decided to take the first test and see how I did before dropping the class. I wrote down every word she said in class and studied thoroughly before each test. If you do this you CAN get an A. Every test is the same, make sure you memorize the artists styles, patrons
as everyone else said. I recorded her notes and i studied. It is imposible in 2 months to learn 20 artists their styles and era and influence and remember it all. The school should do something when they see that all students in her class are graded low. Just dont take her. She is insane
She forget the last question, for extra credit #25 How many cat's do i have? A) 8 B} 6 C} 4 D} None of the above, "No one could ever take the place of Mr Whiskers, may he rest in peace} I have taken a more insane test.
Highly recommend, very structured and direct; She is extremely clear and covers the material thoroughly. She has high standards and expects people to listen and comprehend lecture. Honestly, its knowing how to study and digest the information, she is very clear on what she will test you on, so figure out how to study productively.
worst teacher. save yourself
This woman is AWFUL! Mind you, she is clear when she teaches, but the exams are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Random junk, all random. My class average was 42% in Fall '10. My friend's class average is 38% in Spring '11. AWFUL!! Avoid this woman! Please, please, please!!!
Drop her class NOW! Even if you're the hardest worker in the world, and History is your favorite subject you will still find this class hard, and stressful. Previous classes as well as mine have complained, and she's still here. If you choose to take her class, you have been WARNED! You're heading into the lion's den at your own risk!
I was legitimately looking forward to taking this class- My enthusiasm was annihilated by the 5th week. She was condescending, vitriolic, snide & excessively critical. I found it exceedingly difficult trying to adhere to her method of testing no matter how hard I worked at it. It was a hideously unpleasant experience.
Worst classroom experience of my life. This teacher is very criticizing and just does not realize when students do not understand the material. The exams were pretty much thrown at us which included 40 slides of artwork we hadn't studied at all, and had to identify the artist and timer period (from a pool of 25 artists). DROP IT NOW. Terrible.
HATED THIS CLASS! I seriously think she needs to retire or something. I've never hated someone with such passion
I havent written one of these reviews but after taking this class i thought i should. If you get this professor i highly advise you to drop this course. Her exams are extremely hard, she is mean when she talks,& she doesnt clearly state what she wants. people working at the MET probably couldnt even pass this course. DROP IT!
I am not e type of person that would ever write a review of a teacher but with this lady I just had too. She is terrible. She does not care about her students. She yells at you when you answers questions wrong. She doesn't use a textbook or power points so you have nothing to reference besides notes for her tests. Drop immodestly. Worst teacher!!!
She was very boring and strict.I attended her class the first day and was excited to get out of it.
I've never rated a professor before but she really deserves it. She doesn't use a textbook and refuses to upload noteless power points. She will put you down for attempting to answer a question incorrectly and will lecture the class for not knowing material when not a single student knows the answer to a question. YOU WILL REGRET TAKING HER CLASS.
Professor Grace is the worst Professor I have ever had. She's rude & sarcastic. Her way of teaching is completely ineffective & lacks quality. She shows the class slides of art work (in no order) for 3 hours, and expects use to memorize them. All she does is talk at the class w/o engaging us. Her midterm was unrealistic to pass (class consensus).
I have not taken the midterm yet but am very nervous. Her performance so far is subpar. She is excessively mean. Asks you to contribute and when you tentatively do so she rips you a new one for it. just face it with trudie youre wrong and you fail. must be teachong for a paycheck because she does not do it for the love of it or the students.
If you can take this class with another teacher DO because she is terrible! She is too old to teach and cannot connect with her students. She talks down to you especially when you answer a question wrong or what she thinks is wrong. Try, try, and try again to not have her as your teacher. You WILL regret it!!
You have no time to study and work full time, go to school full time, take another art history? Heres 50 slides you must remember but most of them I will not show you in class plus the rest of an exam.
Terrible professor. If you can even call her that. She expects you to know things in the exam that she's never mentioned before. She has too much attitude. Told me 'whatever' when I asked to email notes after class. Two faced and hypocritical. Tells you to take a guess at an artist in the test, then gets moody when you get it wrong. AVOID HER!!!!!
Very Clear and direct about exactly what the class is going to be like. If you are lazy and don't care you probably shouldn't take this class. None of the professors at FIT are really 'hard' so in FIT standards she is a 'hard' professor. She's fair and gives you the grade you deserve .
I would never blame a poor grade on a professor, but she is too tough for a non-graduate/masters level art history course. I appreciate art history and a challenging class, but she made it almost unbearable. Tests are too difficult for a general education course. Also, she is disrespectful to students and speaks condescendingly to them.
She is one of the hardest professors I have ever had. There was no homework or tests but there was 1 paper. The paper was the only grade and she didn't grade fairly!!! If you want a good grade I would strongly suggest another professor!!!
Extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about the subject. Maybe that is what makes her not suitable for an intro class. I was surprised that she made an intro class so tough. The exam was impossibly hard unless you become as deeply immersed as her in the subject. Very very difficult class. Attempt only if you are obsessed with Art History!!
honestly i was scared to take her because of the reviews.....she isn't nearly as bad as i had expected. she doesn't ever count lateness and you can make up time in another class if your absent. There is no exams, just 2 papers........she gives off a mean vibe, but she actually really sweet and just passionate about art history.
Aweful. No Help. No responsiveness. Will Not Correspond with students. Loses work. Memorize everything. Tests are horrible. You have to memorize every freaking painting of about 30 painters and they will be nothing you have ever seen in class before! plus their patrons where they worked, influences and techniques. Very condecending.
So difficult to work with I was advised by the head of the department to drop her class. Assigning only a paper is new - she dropped the tests because so many student complained. Makes insulting comments to students who are trying to answer questions sincerely. Avoid at all costs.
She is passionate. But look down on her students without respects. Especially you have to write paragraphs analyzing art pieces for exams that she has subjective criteria requiring you to be a professional curator or a critic or something. If you want to learn Art, please reconsider taking her class. She doesn't know how to communicate.
She is by far one of the worst liberal art teachers. She is rude, never helps or answers students and gave impossible tests with questions not covered in class and WILL make fail. I don't understand why she still teachers art history. She expects all her students to be art HA fanatics. Lectures are TERRIBLY tedious and boring. Never take her ever!!
Participation is a must. She didn't assign any tests just a midterm and final art critique paper which she is very particular about the format. Take plenty of notes and you should be fine.
I hated her class. Personal experience: She gave a museum project. I handed it in and she gave it back and said fix one thing and I'd be fine. So I did, handed it back and she said she never got it even though it was printed twice and handed in and emailed twice she said she never got it until the end of the semester. She losses things and lies.
First off, I am not a big fan of history in general. BUT I love modern art, and she killed it for me. TESTS ARE SO FLAPPING DIFFICULT! There are 3 sections of it and it will take up the entire class time. TAKE NOTES OR YOU WILL SUFFER! Half of my class literally failed the midterm. (She is helpful when you beg... better have tough skin.)
I loved Trudie's course. I took the short six session class and plan on signing up for the semester-long one soon.
She is kinda evil. Very condecending. Don't take this course, unless you only study this class
So terrible!
Alot of these reviews are from poor scoring students. The truth is that Grace is very serious about art history. She had me think about art in so many different ways. It was challenging and very rewarding. I hated her till the last day, when she said we were free to go or stay for a chat. She inspired me to pursue a career in Museums, great woman.
NO FINAL, NO MIDTERMS, NO HOMEWORK!!! Just 2 Art projects. The bad reviews are from poor scoring guys! I can say, lazy guys. If you ask her for help for your art project, she will guide you 100%. You just have to listen, take notes, and write about 13 paintings during the semester. She also gives you a lot of opportunities to rise your grade.
She knows the subject she teaches and she teaches thoroughly and effectively. Really enjoyed taking her class! No quizzes or tests! Love how she makes students go to the museum and look at art in person. She doesn't sugar-coat things. If she doesn't like your work she will tell you directly and blatantly.
Your grade is solely based on participation, 2 museum projects, and extra credit if you choose to do it. She doesn't give below a C on the projects so it shouldn't be hard to pass. It's my least favorite class, though. She tends to talk down on students & twist their words. It's an easy A/B but it's so unenjoyable.
Trudie is very passionate about her job. She takes this class seriously, and you have to do the same. Participate and you will win her favor. Ask questions, because she is specific about how she wants things done. I appreciate that she expected the best of us. I took two of her classes, and she wrote me a shining recommendation. She really cares.
She is one of the worst professors I've ever had. She is extremely disrespectful to her students, she tends to talk down to you assuming you're an idiot. Unless you agree with her opinion, you're wrong. Even though art is meant to be subjective. I don't think she understands that this class is a requirement for majors other than Art. Avoid taking.
If I could give her a 0 on the scale, I would. She is by far the WORST professor I have ever met. Exams are 50 slides of paintings you have never seen in class. STAY AWAY !
She is the most rudest teacher I have ever had. She talks down to students. When you answer a question she makes you feel like crap for saying something different than she would. She called the whole class a bunch of losers. Oh and her tests are ridiculous. She will show you slides on art you have NEVER seen before. Do not take her. Save your self.
She is boring, gives heavy test papers and expects you to know everything without teaching well or providing study material
I'll just go straight to the point, do not take. She is very intimidating and kind of rude. When you participate (like she wants), 90% of the time your own thoughts about the painting are wrong, she makes you feel stupid and not want to participate. The slide tests are incredibly hard, especially to study for! Please do yourself a favor, don't take
CAUTION! Listen to me!If you want to get a GOOD GRADE in this course, take my word and DO NOT TAKE this course with Trudie Grace. WILL NOT HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING WILL NOT ACCOMMODATE STUDENTS Tests are 40 unknown paintings that you have to tell who made it and what time period. Other professors give 10 paintings that you've seen in class before RUN
I heard her Renaissance art class is easy-ish but i'm taking her modern art class and she is THE WORST. She expects so much, everyone in the class except two people failed the midterm but she kept it and just offered an insignificant amount of extra credit
I've always been good in Art History, it has always been my favorite class and taking it with this professor made it unpleasant. The class was kind of boring and she is not so bad at lectures but she is rude and makes you feel guilty if wrong. Tests will have info she never gave and they are hard to pass.
Don't take her class. She is rude and makes you fell bad if you don't understand the question sometimes. She speaks so quite and hard to hear. JUST DONT TAKE HER CLASS..
The comments here are very accurate, she makes people feel bad for participating and you seem to be wrong if you don't use the exact words she would use. It's hard to understand what exactly is that she wants but there's no denying you'll learn a lot in her class if you pay attention but it's not worth the hustle.
One of the rudest professors I have ever had. She often pushes students to participate then ridicules them greatly after they respond. Students should feel confindent in class and exicted to learn, however she creates an unpleasent upsetting enviornment. Her assingment directions are unclear and difficult to follow.
Her lectures are extremely boring. Get ready to be confused, she expects you to already know art. Her power points have no information on the slides, just pictures. She expects you to take amazing notes and memorize every piece of artwork she shows. Directions for the projects are unclear. She can be rude to students.
Professor Grace is is great as long as you make an effort. She is very specific so make sure you ask questions. Can come off as rude if you dont answer a question correctly, but as long as you make an effort to understand the material and what she wants, you will be fine.
She berates her students for not participating, but when you try to answer a question, she will shame you for your answer. There is a lack of respect for her students.
there are no tests in this class. very funny but only if you pay attention.
this lady is unknown form of human. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS I'M WARNING YOU
Currently taking this class and I am having the hardest time. Everything is done on power point. She only displays photos, no bullet points just photos. She wants you to DISCRIBE EACH AND EVERY PIECE of the painting for your project, she wants it all in detail, and if you don't analyze the photos to her liking, you will get a HUGE F! Very rude!!!!
Only work is to go to the MET twice a semester. There is a catch though. The work you must do after visiting is not hard, but it is EXTREMELY time consuming and unnecessary. Be prepared to work on the two projects for days and days. Her lectures are also really boring and if you ask a question she acts like you're a total moron. Super condescending
Do not take this Professor!! Shes rude and very sarcastic. She only grades you on 3 projects which she is never clear on and doesnt specify on exactly what she wants. She didnt even give an example and everyone in class was highly confused. I beg you save yourself!!!
TERRIBLE! I had to drop her class due to her horrible teaching style! I don't recommend taking her class!
If you care at all about the subject, pay attention and take notes you're golden. If you want an easy A go elsewhere. You'll have to go to the MET and do 2 small papers and 2 power points. Extra credit is available. Show up, put some effort and not only will you have a great grade she'll go out of her way to help you out.
Extremely condescending. Looks nice but is actually really rude. Does not provide sufficient information for projects. Overall not good.
Worst professor. Lectures are four hours of her talking about artwork with powerpoints with no information on them. No tests or finals, just four projects that make up your grade. If you don't retain all the information and note every single artwork discussed, you can't successfully do the projects. If you ask a question, you'll get attitude.
SIS I don't even have to see her in real life and I do not like her teaching style. To be this condescending and rude about a subject that should be enjoyable and somewhat light hearted is disgusting. Gets mad when you ask questions- which to me is an indicator that you don't actually care about your students learning imo
She knows her stuff but as a professor she is really not caring. She doesn't explain unclear things even if the whole class doesn't understand, to her, EVERYTHING she says is clear and the only truth. If you want to pass you will have to listen to EVERY single thing she says. Don't take her, really, don't, Is not worth it.
DONT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. Extremely rude to students and makes you feel like youre the stupidest person in the world. She encourages you to ask questions but when you do either she answers your question with another question or assumes you havent been paying attention.
she should not be teaching. all i have to say
This prof, and the class can agree, is not good. She is a hard grader, and the projects are very difficult to get a good grade on and not easy to understand. The entire 3 hours of class is a lecture of looking at the paintings. It is boring, there are no tests, and there is extra credit, but is difficult and time consuming. I would not recommend.
Very disrespectful and racist. She has made many people cry and no matter how you answer class questions her response will be condescending
Horrible professor, literally shames you for trying to answer her questions then gets mad if you don't answer her at all. Extremely harsh grader even if you do all the work. Yelled at me for using the word "harsher" instead of "harsh. She also gave my number to her friend without my consent because she's too lazy to grade by herself.
OK, I don't normally get angry with any of the professors I've taken but this is professor had crossed the line with me so many times. Asking questions is like a threat to her but wait, she wants you to ask questions! So which one is it? This professor is lunatic and I warn everyone, DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!! SKIP OR WITHDRAW! That's all I have to say
She's not even human AT ALL! If I could write more things about her, then I would love to because seriously, she's a lunatic! She shouldn't be teaching and don't even bother, wasting your money on taking this class. I don't care, if you take her class, you'll regret it.
Okay I honestly do not know why she has so many bad reviews it makes me so sad. I mean seriously, you come to class and she speaks so clearly about each artwork and you only have 4 projects for the semester with NO HOMEWORK!!!! She prints out everything so clearly with all the information you could ever need, and there are no quizzes/tests. LIKE!!!
This is the worst professor I've ever had. She is extremely rude to students. If you asks a question in this class you just get attacked for not knowing the answer. I would avoid taking this class as much as you can.
Overall, Prof. Grace isn't the worst professor. Though, I don't find her feedback helpful. She gives lengthy descriptions which are cause for further confusion and are unclear overall. She is nice, and offers aid, though like I said it's not that helpful. The projects she requires are oddly specific and tedious, though they aren't horrible.
Her projects are SOOOO CONFUSING ! She gives the worst instructions and expects you to understand. However, she is still a nice person and won't fail you.
Spends the entire three hours just talking instead of making things interesting. hands out about 30 papers every day instead of just going online. When classes switched to online, she didn't even lecture-- i was still paying out of state tuition to not even be taught. Do not recommend!
Worst professor ever. Not great before going remote. Once remote she never taught. Gave projects with very confusing instruction. Required things to done and redone multiple times was hard to figure out what was submitted and not submitted. Do not take this professor!
Worst Professor ever and is rude. Wouldn't take the class to ruin your gpa.
I think deep down Prof Grace is a nice person, but she certainly does not show it. Her class is extremely confusing, and her work is a whole different story. Her assignments are extremely confusing. She laughs at students for asking questions, and then embarrasses you in front of the class. She is extremely condescending, please find another class
DO NOT TAKE a class with Trudie Grace she is an awful professor. Whole semester there was only two projects that our whole grade was comprised of and very little instruction was given. When you follow the instructions given somehow it was never right or good enough. Students in the class were emailing each other trying to complete the projects.
I hate this class so much. She is so unclear about what she expects from you. Her teaching style is HORRIBLE, she simply puts pictures of the art and nothing else on the PowerPoints. No bullet points, no notes, no information at all just pictures and then she talks about them. Don't take her if you care about yourself
She is super unclear about what she wants projectwise, but then grades harshly. Also take a lot of notes because none of what she says is in the slideshows but its like integral to your passing the class. Talk loudly, she will tell you. I would just stay quiet, answer when asked, dont get on her bad side.
Project instructions very unclear and "lectures" were nothing more than a poorly assembled collection of paragraphs in a Word doc (art being described was displayed in a different file). This whole class has felt scattered and "lectures" are full of extraneous info while excluding what's important for work assigned. Worst class I've ever taken.
I went into her class agreeing with all of the other bad reviews, and I can 100% see what they mean, however my opinion has changed after completing the course. Everything seemed so confusing at first, since there were so many documents to go through, but once I got it under control it was so simple. Also, she answers super quick via text.
The whole class was her talking and using a PowerPoint presentation, but it wasn't awful. Our grade was the average of 6 easy projects and that's all we had to do, no tests, quizzes, or busywork. Just the six easy projects. Trudie was really nice and always answered questions.
Incredible feedback. Likes to talk over video call. Very thorough with first drafts. Follow instructions exactly and youll be fine. Very sweet, hard to approach but once you do there is nothing to worry about.
If you plan on taking this class, there's some things you should know. Professor Grace seems like a nice woman but I emphasize to pay attention in her class. She gives long lectures so it's important to take a lot of notes. With projects, it's best to ask her what she wants specifically before completing her assignments since she's a tough grader.
A simple course:2 projects due at midterms, 2 at finals. Provides great information in her slides and documents but project instructions are overcomplicated. She's a tough grader. Examples aren't allowed in projects, leaving few works remaining to use, leading to grade reductions for "poor choices" in works. Points are taken away w/out explanation.
2 big projects is all you are graded on. incredibly degrading when talking about your work, harsh grader, doesn't teach, assignments are confusing.
God, awful professor! Avoid at all costs. She is an extremely harsh grader. She gives many instructions, yet they are so vague that they lead to mistakes, which she will penalize you for. If you have the displeasure of taking her to the only advice is to communicate with her...which is not easy... she will belittle your character and your work 0/5
AVOID AT ALL COST. Literally just don't even consider taking this professor. Just avoid. Take any other professor. If you care about learning and getting a good grade take someone else.
Trudie's class is a bit of a mixed bag. The projects can be tricky, but using Unstuckstudy and staying on top of the requirements helps a lot. Her feedback is thorough, and she's generally responsive if you reach out. Overall, a manageable course if you're willing to put in the work.
Don't make the same mistake as me and pick your art history credit late because you may end up stuck with a prof that is unclear, contradicts herself, speaks quietly, can't hear and doesn't understand technology like this one. She's not a bad person, but this class has been torture to sit through. I'll give her one thing, she is VERY reachable.
Content is presented in an uninteresting way, and the expectations for the projects is very vague despite how much she brings them up. It could've been worse, but I would not take this course again. Pros and Cons: (put this at the end of pastebin) /4g3kuCyJ If you are actually interested in art history, take another class.
She's not as bad as I thought. She is sweet old lady but her lectures are boring since you have to sit through three hours of her presenting different artworks and talking about them. She was nice enough to give us three extra credit assignments, extend the due date for our final, and is easy to reach.
I read the reviews and I didn't think it could be that bad, IT IS. The instructions for her projects are difficult to comprehend. She is accessible, but speaking to her is SO difficult. Don't expect to get a straight answer. She gets very annoyed and is incredibly rude in her responses. She needs to retire and spare us.
Professor Trudie Grace gives unclear project instructions and harsh feedback. I followed her guidelines, but she said my work made “no sense” and told me to withdraw instead of offering help. No support, no clarity, just harsh rude criticism. Avoid if you care about your GPA or your mental health.
Horrible. Never got a straight answer on anything. Communication was rude and made me feel stupid for asking questions. There are better professors out there, don't make the same mistake I did.
Such a horrible prof her instructions are so unclear, gave us a 7 PAGE PAPER of directions on how to do the assignment yet still couldn't understand what she was asking for bc it was so much stuff.. literally had to use ChatGPT to help me understand what the hell she wanted. After all that she said I did the assignment wrong and wanted to fail me.
