He is a great English professor. He goes over all the material really well, and he makes sure that you understand writing techniques. I hope to take him for Eng 1A.

He has got to be the funniest teacher I have had so far during my time at RCC. All his lessons are fun and he never gets boring. He can be strict, but it is the good kind.

Mr. Amidon is a very funny but very strict teacher. And if given the opportunity, he can be very helpful.

He is funny and personable. His main goal is to see you grow as a writer. The best instructer I ever had a RCC.

Mr. Amidon is a great english teacher who really cares about students who want to learn and succeed in his class. He is the best english teacher I have ever had and he has helped me improve my writing skills. His class was fun at times b/c he has a good sense of humor. I recommend this class to those who are interested in learning and improving.

One of the funniest teachers in Rcc! Attendance is mandatory, he grades the papers really strict. But you learn a lot from his lectures, and he is very helpful. So if you are looking to become a better writer, take him!

He isn't any easy teacher but he is very interesting and funny. I took both 1A and 1B with him and I learned so much. I consider myself a much better writer because of his classes. It's hard but if you stay on top of it you'll do fine. And do the journals, they are easy points you dont want to miss.

i like mr. A he's a great teacher, very clear in direction, and always willing to help students. its not an easy class, i admit, but surely it was fun! the class was after lunch n thankfully he made it fun and interesting! highly recommended.

TAKE MR. AMIDON! One of the BEST professors I've had at RCC! He's tough, so if you get an A on your paper, you did really well! I learned a lot, & he's very fun! He's sarcastic & goes off on tangents every now & then, but it's entertaining. I DEFINITELY recommend him! Also, he gives tons of input on your essay & gives it back on time every time! :D

Mr. Amidom is a great and fun teacher, he makes you work hard but in the end it's all worth it. He's a hard grader, and you can't be lazy, but honestly one of the greates teachers I have had. Good class, good teacher

I am an English major and I had yet to have a teacher so involved and helpful that I was amazed by professor Amidon. He challenges you but in the end it is truly worth the work and stress. I feel that my writing has significantly improved thanks to him!

Professor Amidon is an excellent teacher. His class is fairly easy so long as you pay attention in class and read the assigned texts.

One of the best teachers I have had yet! Makes the course and subject interesting. Very funny. Hard grader, but I learned a lot and improved in my writing quite a bit. I probably didn't pull off an A in his class, but I gained a lot of knowledge by attending and participating in it. Great teacher.

Prof. Amidon is a great person. he is so helpful, funny, respectful, and cute :-) umm, if u wanna register in his class, u should b familiar with some words such as "roughly" "going once, goingce twice, gone" "just nod" he uses these alot. he will make u laugh alot. it is not an easy A at all, im super smart and i ended up with a B. good luck

One of the best teachers I've ever had! I hated English until I took this class. He's a tough grader, but only because he expects a lot from his students. He's also very sarcastic, but obviously an intelligent guy. I really enjoyed this call but I wouldn't recommend taking over winter, becasue it's a bit hectic.

By far one of the best professors I've had, which says a lot considering I have no natural talent for eng. Not easy, expects a lot but extremely helpful and gives great advice and insight, and replies to all his emails in detail. Unsure of my present grade, but in anycase, he has done more for my writing skills than any other teacher I've had.

Best English professor at RCC. If you have to take any type of basic Eng or Lit take Prof. Amidon! He's not easy, and you have to work to earn your grade. However, he's a blast to have and he's always willing to help. Love him.

Amidon is a fun, open-minded, unfiltered prof. He is crystal clear of what he expects and does what he teaches and is willing to help with all questions and also provides a plethura of useful links and info when you need it. If ou don't like direct teachers, don't take him, but if you do you won't regret it just be prepared to work hard.

Super Funny! Easy to talk to and treats you like a person, usually knows your name and you can email with any question you may have and he replies fairly quickly. I enjoyed his class - not the easiest class but if you utilize his help and the lab you will do well. Take his class! You won't be disappointed!

I took his class years ago at RCC and I still think I have never encountered a better English professor than Mr. Amidon.I learned a lot in his class. I highly recommend this professor to whoever is ready for a challenge. Before I met Mr. Amidon I hated English classes, but his class prepared me for harder challenges. Thank you Mr. Amidon!!!!!

Like others have said...best English professor in years. I feel like I haven't learned anything in an English class since 7th grade but this one semester has absolutely made me a better writer. Class is not easy, but instructions are clear and workload is not unreasonable. If you want an A, I'd recommend pairing with less intensive classes.

Professor Amidon like others have said, is simply the best. Amidon is that one rare teacher that just makes you want to go to class even if your failing, and if that doesn't prove how amazing of a professor he is, i don't know what will. I had a D+ in his class the last week before finals, i managed to pull a hail marry, and I walked out with a B.

Simply, he is the BEST English professor I have ever had. I had him for spring 11. He really cares about his students and is always willing to help. He will definitely help you improve your writing skills. He even makes the effort to get to know you by name. I am glad I took his class.

Great teacher. I managed an A. You will have to WORK for your grade. He's a hard grader, but gives excellent feedback. Fix your mistakes and watch your grades jump up. He's intelligent and funny. Professor Amidon is one of the best English professors here at RCC. Defiantly recommend this teacher for any student who struggles with English. He actually made writing fun for a change. Missin' out on a great professor if you don't get in his class lol. Seriously!

I really enjoyed taking his class, the only reason i recieved a low grade was because of myself. I recommend him just stay on top of everything!

For the first few weeks, my detaste for this teacher forced me to give hiim a nick name, "Ami-Dou.che" and so on. But after a few more weeks, i relaized that hes really good as an eng professor. in his class, there seems to be little to no shortcuts. If you dont try, you'll prob fail. But if you try and understand what he expects, you do super!

Amidon is incredibly smart and helpful. Offers a lot of insight into the works. Plus, he's funny and kind of hot in a weird way. This class is A LOT of work, though.. seriously. Don't take it if you're not an English major. Overall, I highly recommend him

PHENOMENAL professor. Explains the info more clearly than any other professor. Cares about your education. Although he is crass at times and cusses like a sailor, you will walk away wanting to take his class again. Do your journals and take the time to write your essays. TAKE HIS CLASS and you will love it!

Professor A is by far the best instructor I've had thus far in my college career. The class requires you to put in work but if you write all your papers and ask him for help whenever you need it you will pass with a good grade. I highly recommend this class, it is very apparent that he loves what he does.

I really enjoyed this class. Although,my grade wasn't great because I turned in 2 assignments late I really learned a lot from his class. I will just tell anyone who takes his class do not I repeat do not turn work in late especially the last 3 assignments, because your grade will suffer.

Amidon is an amazing English teacher. I began his class thinking I was a great writer only to realize I had a lot to learn. He challenges and always expects more. He will remember your name and your writing style. He will push you to do better and tell you where you need to improve. If you really want to learn, take this class.

Awesome professor!! He actually cares about his students as he teaches them all the skills they need to become a better writer. The class is extremely difficult but you will actually LEARN from the class. In addition, he has a very good sense of humor which makes the class very enjoyable. :)

He's a great professor and really cares about his work. He encourages individuals to sit up in the front- he likes the attention. The more work you put in the more work he'll put in for you. He could work on clarity though; I feel he is distant at times and vague in what he wants your essay to include. Gotta love that Walter White bald head.

Great teacher, enjoyable class, pushes you to learn but definitely doesn't hold your hand. He has high expectations but is a good communicator. Some big essays and a lot of little work which you can brush off, but they add up! Do the little things, they're not busy work and they're designed to help you succeed (learned a little too late).

Dr. A is yet another gem in the honors program at RCC. Not only is he hilarious, but he's an amazing discussion facilitator. The works were interesting, the assignments relevant, and the feedback was constant & great. If you have the opportunity to take an honors course with him, don't pass it up - you might lose your chance to smell the petunias.

Amidon is the coolest guy ever. He doesn't grade to harshly and gives great feedback on how to improve (and on what he's impressed with). During class he discusses what the text means in-depth and focuses heavily on your concerns or questions. He honestly cares about his students and wants them to pass. And be sure to ask him about Hamlet!

Work hard. If you're taking an honors class, he expects honors performance. He is willing to work with you so keep visiting him during his office hour and you'll do well in class.

He's a good teacher but difficult to please. I worked my butt off to get the grade I wanted. I took his ENG1A class online, but he was really good at responding to emails and even in person, just stop by his office and he'll talk with you. I'd take his class again.

Has to be one of the best English professors. I took him for 1A Honors and he was super funny, but he expects you to push yourself to do better on each essay. There are 4 essays and 2 in class essays. On all the essays try your best to avoid using passive voice!! (Just a heads up he hates that). But I'm happy I got an A in his class!! Take him!

Professor Amidon is an amazing professor. Had the pleasure of taking several of his courses, and every time he pushed me to improve. Listens to his students, helps guide you to better yourself, and makes things lively.

He's the best English professor I've ever had! I waited a year until he taught English 1BH. Yes, he is a tough grader. But it's for prep to a University. He also has a unique fatherly way of teaching which is rare. He cares if you have life issues too. You won't find another like him. I got an A from listening to his feedback. Just try your best.

Hands down my all time favorite professor. Taken him for both ENG1AH & 1BH. He's hilarious, understanding, and makes expectations for his essays very clear and organized. Lectures are always entertaining and although he doesn't offer extra credit, he offers rewrites and extensions for some essays. Do all your work and you can easily achieve a B.

He is hands down the best English Professor I have ever had. Super understanding and caring. He will work with you, but you also need to show progress. He is hilarious and make his classes enjoyable. He is really clear of what he expects of you as a student, gives a great writing foundation, but he also gives you the chance to find your own style.

I came into this class thinking that I was a phenomenal writer and I was proven wrong; Professor Amidon showed me that I had a lot of room for growth and improvement. This class literally shows you your progress in the span of one semester and it's eye-opening for those of you who want to improve and succeed through hard-work and dedication.

I LOVE this guy. I have always felt strong in my writing, but Amidon helped me improve so much! Comparing my first and last essays I was amazed on how much I had changed and improved. He was the best teacher I have ever had! Prof. Amidon has been the absolute best professor I've ever had the privilege to have. I've had him for ENG1AH as well, and he was incredible. Amidon is a very caring, funny, smart teacher and class is always a joy to attend. This semester we switched online due to coronavirus and he handles online classes just as well. 10/10 would reccomend.

Professor Amidon has discussions rather than lectures. He asks for participation in class but understands if you are too shy to speak. His feedback on writing assignments is very helpful and he really wants his students to succeed. He is willing to meet you where you are at and give you resources to do better. He is funny and makes reading fun.

Prof. A is one of my favorite professors at RCC. He is amazing chill, gives helpful feedback, and is down answer questions and give advice outside class. There were a total of 4 essays throughout the semester, each has more points than the last (this is a chance for you to improve and do better in the next paper). One midterm, one final.

Literally the best teacher I've ever had. He is always willing to help with your writing and encourages you to ask him for help. He is very accommodating with due dates, and overall an amazing professor. I always doubted my writing and critical thinking skills, but he motivates his students to do their best. He is one of the most understanding professors I have ever met he adjusted multiple deadlines if we told him we were feeling overwhelmed. He also gives you opportunity to turn some assignment in late and we barely took any quizzes. A lot of reading is done along with essays but he has a good pace that you barely feel overwhelmed.

One of the best Professors I've had in a while. I never felt overwhelmed with the classwork and lectures always were entertaining. Even if you're falling behind, Prof. Amidon will work with you and will try to make sure that you pass his class. There are group projects as well but they're not as bad as you may think and are fairly easy!

You will not regret taking Prof. Amidon. This guy is the easiest going Professor Ive ever had. All his English classes are reading intense so prepare for that and GET READY TO WRITE. He gives great feedback and shows he cares a lot. Classes arent mandatory but I highly recommend attending. Cool guy, but dont expect to make it if u half ass.

I took three classes with Amidon over the course of my time at RCC, and loved all of them! He is an awesome teacher!! I highly recommend him. I'm actually sad that I won't be able to take any more classes with him since I graduated. His lectures are awesome; take detailed notes, throw out your ideas, and you're good to go.

Prof Amidon is one of the best professors I ever had and it's only my first year. Anyways I recommend him 100% he is so helpful in many ways and just caring with not just school but anything in general!

Willing to help students without making them feel stupid. Adapts to the needs of the students. Embraces constructive criticism to better his teaching.

Amazing professor! The class requires heavy reading and expects well-analyzed papers. The professor is tough in grading, but comments are helpful! I was able to visibly see my writing getting better through this class.

There was a lot of reading to do, but overall it was doable. Makes a lot of funny jokes during lectures to keep us engaged and will gladly help with work if you ask for it. We had to do 4 essays throughout the semester, but we can ask for extensions and he will provide good feedback to make you improve. Best English professor I've had.

TAKE HIM RIGHT NOW! Easy essays to write & text book wasn't as needed, I never opened it. He grades a bit tough but you still get a good amount of points to pass the assignments & class. Essay prompts are enjoyable to write & tells you what he expects you to write for each paragraph. He also gives a bit of extra credit in the end of the semester.

Professor was super understanding and caring. 4 essays and 2 quick writes, plus some extra credit. discussion posts to keep up with during the week & 10 dlas . He gave everything you needed to pass.

While there was a lot of work to be done, I found the professor easy to speak with and willing to provide explanations and help when needed. I think he goes above and beyond to help his students succeed. He is very clear with what he expects of each assignment and gives great feedback. I would definitely take his class again.

Took this course for summer and it was tough with reading a poem or story weekly and doing essays weekly. Though this professor does a great job in providing the material to learn, gives great feedback, and responds quickly by email. Do the discussions, quizzes, understand the material given, read the stories, and do good in your essays for an A.

10/10 a goat. He has a Ryan Reynolds sense of humor, has the perfect balance between being strict and understanding, and will help you pass if you communicate with him often. He does timed essays in class if you're taking him in person. Late penalty assignments is up to his discretion. If this darn website let me write more than 350 words I would.

Prof Amidon was one of the best professor's I've had. Never met an educator who cares so much for their students mental health and well being like he does. Clear assignment directions, lectures were never boring, and he was always ready to help. He is a good person overall and I learned so much from him. Def recommend !!

Take him right now! English has always been something that's so hard for me, but he helped me write my ideas in a clear way and was so caring. There's 4 essays all interesting and frustrating. I spent most of my time focusing on this class so don't take it with a math or bio class. There's a chance to revise your essay or get ec.

10/10 Professor! He cares deeply about mental health and lets you know it. His feedback is amazing and I would totally and will take him again for English 1B. He's one of the best professors I've had and I'm lucky that I chose him as one of my first college classes.

Not only is the course load not that heavy, but he gives great advice for transitioning into college. I received a B only because I kept forgetting about the WRC labs. Taken Spring 2024, One of the best if not, the best teacher I've ever taken. He cares a lot about the well being of students and their understanding on prompts. He is a tough grader however, he gives great feedback on essays/work. If you don't understand the assignment, GO TO HIM, every time I did I came out knowing to do. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

The curriculum itself is somewhat heavy- although this professor is very understanding and compassionate. He truly cares about his students and will do everything he can to help you if you communicate with him

Chill professor, but this IS an english class. A lot of reading to do, like a lot! 24 hour grace period for assignments, but a lot of work to do. Chill guy tho

My experience in this class was incredible! Professor Amidon is very flexible and understanding of students. I got a B from a lack of WRC labs, but if you make the time to go in, you can easily get an A! Take good notes during class and make a good essay review group! He'll answer an questions and has a quick email response time.

Professor Amidon was one of the best professors I have ever taken. I took him during Fall of 2024. He's very understanding towards mental health issues. His feedback was always great and heavily impacted the way I did my work. I will 1000% take him again during ENG1B. I recommend him if you want a amazing english course!

I aged 15yrs taking this class during the summer, but it was worth it. It also would have been much easier in person. Overall, he's a caring guy who really wants you to learn. Lots of reading and writing (duh), but each essay and book were very different, so it helped keep us engaged. Didn't love his communication style, but he always replied ASAP.

Honestly wasn't too hard, as long as you make sure to read the instructions, ask questions for clarification if needed, and just do the work you will be fine. There are 4 essays and 2 quick writes (quick writes are super easy and he doesn't grade them hard). He is really nice and cooperative if you need more time or help for anything. Extra credit!

Professor A is truly one of the best professors I've had at RCC. He is very caring and understanding I wouldn't recommend any other professor. Thank you, Professor A, for being truly one of the awesomest professors ever. Go Bears!
