Dr. Lergo is from Nigeria, and his speech is extremely hard to understand. He's a very funny guy, though, with a good sense of humour. His tests are extremely easy and he has no problem with trying to help you understand concepts.

Dr.Lergo is from another country so his english is a little hard to understand sometimes, but as the semester goes on it gets easier to understand him. His tests are very easy and he is very helpful.

Don't take his online class. It is ridiculous, with 250 question tests that are supposed to take 3-4 hours to complete.

I really liked his class, you have to study for the tests of course, but not too hard. He prepeares you for all tests. If you are not a total opposite of intellect, you will like the discussions, and learn a great deal about the subject.

If you participate and do the work it is an easy class. He is a great teacher. It takes a bit to understand his dialect. Other than that he is a great teacher. He knows a lot about the subject.

EASY CLASS. All the questions on the test are on the pre-exam. He grades the Gordon Rule paper easily and never gives homework except the pre-exam. Although, I took it during Summer A and didn't feel rushed at all.

Firstly, he has a thick African accent because he is from Nigeria so it can be difficult understanding him sometimes. If you want an A study the preexams as much as you can because the regular exams are identical. Reading the chapters can help but I didn't bother and I made A.

Very interesting guy, but hard to understand. The class is an easy 'A' as long as you read the book. You won't get anything out of his lectures, because you can't make out what he's saying. Easy as long as you put forth effort and time.

DR. Lergo was not given anything. He EARNED his PhD in the states after growing up in a 3rd world country. He is intelligent & funny. Should he not expect as much from, if not more, from people who grew up here and have EVERY opportunity? If you want an A in his class do the work. How many native born Americans really speak understandable English?

BORING BORING BORING, but its an easy A. He gives you a take home pre-exam with 100 questions, and then picks 50 of those to be on his test. The only thing... is hes MAD BORING and says the same crap over and over. The accent is a little thick..but you get used to it.

He is a great teacher. He uses fascinating illustrations, and lets the student voice their opinions. Tests are extremely easy if you take notes. His accent is easy to understand and no issue after a couple of classes. Easy A.

VERY BORING!!!! He's very easy but soooo boring. If you can sit there and listen, then take him. But he is very unclear b/c of his accent...and EXTREMELY boring. He also deducts points for attendance even after missing one class. I don't recommend.

I really learned a great deal from this teacher... and I don't agree that he is boring. In fact, I hardly had to study AT ALL in my next Sociology class because he covered the theories and mechanics of sociology so well. I really liked his stories about Africa -- they weren't just stories you know, they were analogies.

Lergo is a great professor. His accent is not very difficult to understand. He tells analogies(not stories) that are relative to the material and they are often funny. Not hard to pay attention at all unless you are lazy anyway. Easy A.

This man is just plain ignorant. I cant understand his thick accent.. He laughs at the class and refuses to answer questions about the material. I and several other students contacted the head of the soc. dpt., he promised that he would make a change, but it didnt happen. thats why they have now refunded several students even after the Ad/drop date

This class is an easy A. However, it can get very boring! He offers many opportunities for extra credit! for the exams, you take home a pre-exam of 100 questions, and the in class exam will have 50 of those questions on it (they are word for word.) As long as you show up form class and make somewhat of an effort, you'll definately pass!

This guy is a joke!!! If I was'nt getting a B, I would have contacted the sociology dept. a long time ago. He is extremely unprepaired and ALWAYS late. I got a headache trying to read his writing or understand his accent. Quizzes are taken home but the questions are extremely subjective and there is often multiple correct answers. I hate this class

The class was super easy, he gives you pre-tests which have all the questions you will see on your test and they are multiple choice. Majority of the questions come from notes you take in his class so as long as you show up you should pass. There were no papers and no reading assignments. Can't get any easier than this.

He is very nice, and super humble. All of the tests are on lectures, so write down EVERYTHING he puts on the board. Always come to class and NEVER fall asleep, you will get an A.

This class is pretty boring. The test are based from 100 set of questions he gives a week before the test and then he picks 50 to be on the test. so really u should know your grade. it is a hastle to come to this class.the videos are pretty interesting.but expect to be a clockwatcher

His class is pretty boring, which sucks because you have to keep up with what he writes on the board and get all notes since that's where all the answers are for the test. You get a 100 question take home test and then the real test is 50 questions which is word for word from the 100 question "pre-test." Class is super easy if you're not lazy.

Difficult to understand, unorganized to the point where you don't know what chapter you're reviewing. He runs out of time at the end of the semester because he doesn't plan well, leaving you to look up the info on your own. The only grades we had were three exams and an extra credit paper worth 50 pts. You're better off choosing another instructor

This teacher is impossible to understand. He doesn't even speak English. It should have been an easy A however I got a B. You can't even take notes from his when you can't understand him. If you ask him a ? he is basically useless, I got a B. However I would say it is definitely possible to get an A. But you would have to pay attention every second

I really enjoyed this class and the discussion topics provided by Dr. Lergo. He will respond to your questions and the tests are straight forward, for the most part. It is not a hard class. Just respond to the discussion with your own ideas, take the tests on time, and you will get a good grade. If you allow it, perhaps it will expand your thought

This professor is horrible. He flubbs up his tests, and evades students who question his answers. He will not answer straight forward questions and the head of the department is no better. I had to go to the third tier above him, and STILL had issues. Wrote a letter to the Dean about it in the end. Take anyone else BUT him. (Jimison is great...FYI)

If you are interested in Sociology and want to learn something, DON'T take his class. Notes are incomprehensible and useless. Jumps around with subject matter and is very disorganized. Tests are uncommonly difficult, since his notes are of no help. If you have to take him, get the textbook and take your own notes.

Hard of hearing, if you respond to his questions you end up repeating yourself at least twice after original response. HE IS 5 MINUTES LATE EVERY CLASS PERIOD! I have been in his class since the beginning of the spring semester and we haven't even taken an exam, spring break is a week away! He is very biased in his world view.

I took class online. Not a hard course, but no interaction from Dr. Lergo. Posted Discussions, you input, no response. Study guide for tests with 125 questions. There were 100 on the test for 2 hr time limit. Dr. Lergo told someone in my class that not all answers were in book, y use those questions. Online-NO notes. NO teacher interaction.

Prof Lergo has a unique and appealing accent. Nice to listen to a non American accent for a change. He has a photogenic memory: teaches without notes and knows most students by name. Be prepared to use your brain in this course because he makes you think, which most students, especially those looking to be fed, may not like. Very knowledgeable.

Lergo is incomprehensible and he does not use the textbook when teaching the class. His ideas are completely farfetched and he doesn't listen to what you say...especially if you are going against his ideas. I would recommend taking someone else.

This is coming from a straight A student who studied hard and still got a high B. While Mr. Lergo is a nice man, he seems disorganized and does not plan well. We had a whole section to cover (4 chapters) in one class before the test, and he still tested us on unlectured material.

Do not take this class unless you're willing to put forth the effort to take very intricate notes. Dr.Lergo is very knowlegable, and gives all of his lectures without notes. He gives all of his exam information in class lectures. So...if you take great notes you'll do just fine. Don't take this course unless you're ready to use your brain!

He is an okay teacher but has some weird tactics. asks questions on tests that are not in the book or related to the chapters assigned,makes the class 100 points so u can only miss 10 points the entire semester to get an A.if he plays a movie in class,make sure u are there cuz half the test will be on it..especially if no ones there for the movie.

He saved me from getting an F to a C. I took a class in social problems in fall 09. Three months into the semester, the instructor who was teaching left. Professor Lergo took over. I learned more from him than the previous three months. He makes things simple, wants students to develop understanding/critical thinking.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! He is by far the WORST teacher I have ever taken at SFC! He marks questions wrong on your tests when the correct answers are WORD for WORD in the text. I emailed him reguarding them and he failed to fix them! I would NEVER reccomend ANYONE to take this guy. I deserve an A but got a B due to his lack of being a good teacher

Lergo doesnt speak english clear so it is hard to uderstand him. I tried using the book but it wasnt very helpful at all. Also he writes notes all over the board in sloppy handwriting that doesn't make since. It makes the class very hard to do well in. If he had a power point set up with notes it would be much easier. I took Mr. Lergo class in the spring term of 2010 and I would say that he is a great professor. He's helpful if you want it. I got a "B" in the class. COME TO CLASS EVERYDAY, TAKE NOTES, AND STUDY and you'll do great. I took him on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He's excellent:)

I failed Introduction to sociology in summer when I took it with a different instructor. Professor Lergo saved me when I took his class in Fall2010. It is down to earth sociology, but you must be ready to use your brain. Don't sleep in his class.

Very Knowledgable man. Notes can be incomprehensible only if your not listening. Its best to take notes on what he is explaining. His exact words appear on tests. textbook use is LOW. The movies he show are Mandatory to watch, they cover the tests. Doesnt do well with chalk, he always rubs it in his eyes. LOL! I learned alot. BE PREPARED TO LEARN!

Very easy class. Took this class online in spring. discussions but you dont have to reply to any other student. 4 exams. He gives you a make-up day for exams if you want to retake it. Make sure you do the discussions correctly cause he uses one of them as a bonus grade.

Tunga was a good professor, he knows the material and cares about what is he teaching. Write down everything he says because the test questions come directly from the notes. There are pre-exam's that are 100 questions and from them 50's are the actual exam. If you take good notes and actually do the pre-exam and study it you'll get an A like me.

HARDEST online class I have EVER taken. The textbook was not helpful for the Exams AT ALL. The workload itself was do-able..but the EXAMS were Horrible...had to Google answers for the test review sheet (how many states have Hate laws?) Either take this On-CAMPUS or you are pretty much toast. Not referring friends to this class. Period.

Discussion topics very informing. Class well orgganized and simply:calendar, exams( system problem, sometimes, but easy, if you have the notes, 7text) discussion forums, notes, all easy to find and follow. Class is so easy to follow that you don't have to contact/call the Prof.

Principles of sociology. Great intellect. He knows his subject and a lot about U.S.You will I benefited from his multicultural experiences in the class examples he gave. It is a class that an average student can do well, but don't be lazy.

This is an easy class, tests are straight forward, if you listen to what he says. However, he does give false information about his subject. He does not really use the text book, and his tests are based on his lectures. I had to use the internet for his pre-test, but sometimes it was not helpful because he says info that is false.

Pretty easy. If you go to class he'll give you lots of extra cred opportunities. He gives you a 100 question "pre-exam", and 50 of them will be the real exam. However, some of them are IMPOSSIBLE to find, not in the book nor on the internet, it's dumb. I would recommend him though, the only grades are the exams, pre-exams, and extra cred.

This class is easy but extremely boring. You do watch some cool movies, and only need a book for the extra credit and exams. He gives you 100 questions a week before each exam to study so you know where your exam questions are coming from. He gives extra credit as an incentive to come to class but you don't need too. He gives lectures every class.

Had him for social problems online.Class was okay...He never really told you what was going on and each exam had 100 questions (thankfully they weren't proctored because the questions were VERY tricky). But he gives you a study guide with the same questions that will be asked. Indifferent about the class..(though required minimal effort for an A)

This class was incredibly hard for me. The only work you submit is 3 pre-exams and 3 exams. The class would be easy if he would go over the preexams which the test comes from, but HE DOESN'T. Do not take this class. He is a terrible teacher with a terrible accent.

First off, there is BIG language barrier. he knows what he is talking about, but his accent makes it harder to understand. many words are lost in sentences, and you are left with what was written on the board. He Is very nice and wants to see all students pass. There are 3 Pre exams (100 Q's) and 3 exams (50 Q's all chosen out of Pre exam 100)

He's not a good professor. I wouldn't take him. He makes the online classes confusing and he switches due dates on you to where you will miss the assignments and then doesn't let you make it up, when it was clearly HIS mistake. There are other professors more qualified to teach this/easier classes for you. Don't waste your time.

Taking this class right now and he's terrible. His lectures are exhausting, hard to follow, and will put you to sleep. He may have a degree but that doesn't change the fact that his views on his own subject are extremely problematic and he's extremely traditional for a class that should be progressive. You definitely need a book for the exams.

Dr. Lergo is a great instructor who is genuinely helpful, and available, semester was smooth sailing, clear, and relatively easy until. . . Now maybe this was an exception for him but the course work for the final week was too much for a student preparing for FINALS in other classes. Expect to drop anywhere from half to a full grade as a result.

class not hard at all. just show up and take good notes. if you dont show up to class you will miss out on notes and everything in notes will be on the exams and pre-exams. only thing is he has an accent and sometimes you cant understand what he's saying and he writes ugly.

He is a tough grader, but if you have a higher than average IQ, you will be fine. He is always available to meet with his students (that saved my grade). His tests are a mix of notes and the book. The book should be your bible for his class. Read and you will succeed.

Hard to understand and lectures are long and all over the place. I was bored out of my mind with this class even though I love sociology. I would not take him again and would not recommend his class. He gives review packets before the test, but does not go over them with you so you will not know if you have the correct answers or not.

I'm into sociology so I took the class without looking up my professor first.... big mistake. Nice guy, he's just very hard to understand and his lectures are near impossible to sit through. He only gives three big tests a semester including the final so that's good and also he gives bonus work but that's about it.

DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! Hes a nice guy but hes lectures and disoraganized and unclear his notes are not enough when you have to take his pre exam. Then he doesn't go over the answers for the take home test before you take the actual test in class. If you try to ask him questions about the pre exam he tells you to take better notes.

Nice person, classes seem long and boring. He gave us a graded pretest but wouldn't tell us the answers to the pretest after it was graded so we couldn't know if our answers were wrong or right so it made studying for a test a little harder since you didn't know if what you think is right is right.

Took this class online for spring term. This class all you do is discussion posts and 5 exams. Exams are 100 questions, multiple choice but they're very elaborate critical thinking questions. Tests are very hard & he never gives any lecture notes for any of the material. None of the material for exams he uses are not in the book. Wouldn't recommend

Yes its difficult to understand him and his hand writing but if you ask " what did you say" or "what did you write " he is gladly to repeat it. He gives 3 exams and 3 pre exams, even though the pre exams are 100 questions the test is the same as the pre exam so memorize the pre exams. And gives extra credit. Go to class and you'll be fine

This professor is very unorganized, and provided make up tests for those who had missed the exams, but didn't allow those who had taken it on time to have a redo, leaving those who missed it with more study time. Also, for the discussions that were opinion heavy, you better have the same opinion they do, or you'll get marked off. Do not take.

Worst online class I have ever taken. Prof. asks for your opinion in discussions and then tells you are wrong and takes off points for not agreeing with his own opinion. Tests are unfair because material on the test cannot be found in the textbook or notes. You basically have to teach yourself the material. Prof didn't put in much effort to teach.

This professor didn't have a very structured online class. Discussion posts were due at random days, exams were on random days. Not organized at all! The professor doesn't explain how his discussion posts are going to be graded, so it is hard to get a good grade. It is also an opinion based question, but that opinion must match that of the prof.

Some questions on pre-exams and exams are from things found online (word for word), not found in the book, in his notes, or in his lectures. Not fair since he says that every thing in the tests are from the book, his lectures and notes. Unorganized with certain things. Overall nice guy, but I wouldn't take him again.

Grades do not coincide with harsh comments on discussions. Instructor not very personable or caring. Forget asking for help or negotiating a higher grade. Easy class if you read the chapters, as all the exams are open book and he provides a study guide with almost all of the questions included.

You cannot understand a darn word he says, he has a very strong accent. All he does is talk the whole class and then we have about 3 tests which is our whole grade. If you don't do well on those tests, you won't pass because thats the only assignments we do.

Tunga is a very nice teacher, but he is EXTREMELY BORING. I hesitated to go to class because I knew I was going to get bored. I don't know about you guys, but if a class is hard but with a good teacher that actually makes you want to learn, it's a good class. Henceforth, Tunga is a very boring, slow-paced and non-involuctraing teacher. 3 Tests grade.

The class was based on (5) discussions and (5) exams. The study guides were very helpful, they were word for word on the actual exams and most questions can be found online. The only time I really used my book was for discussions. He also uploads the book chapters online for you.

Good professor, would take again. There are only about 6 major assignments throughout the entire semester. There are three exams and three pre exams which are essentially study guides with questions straight from the exam. The attendance is graded on bonus work which is given in class, if youre not there you cannot get the bonus work or make it up.

There are 5 discussion posts, 5 tests that are grades. The way he writes his discussion post questions is confusing. He introduces the topic and asks a question at the end. If you don't include the entire topic, even if not mentioned in the question, you get major points lost. Also, if you do not have the same opinnion as him more points off.

Is very hard to understand and often makes comments about things that arent relevant to the class. Constantly makes references to how things are in Africa compared to the US. Only has three pretests and three exams and they are weighted heavy because thats the only assignments for the class. Definitely would take someone else for this class

I took this class online. I would definitely not take her again. The class consists of 5 discussions and 5 tests. Her test are 2 hours and 20 minutes long. Prof. Lergo is a heavy grader on discussions. She is not flexible with the responses even though they are discussions based on opinion. Also, she takes a long time to grade assignments.

3 Preexams 40%; 3 exams 60%,8 bonus works to encourage attendance, 5%. Got 89. Try not to miss class to get all bonuses. They're critical and bumped my grade to 94. Write everything he says down. Use quizlet. Syllabus says 7th edition. He says 6th edition ok too to save money. I'm poor so I used 5th edition from library. All same thing. Nice prof.

3 Pre-Exams and 3 exams. Simple. 50 questions on the exam are pulled from the 100 questions on the pre-exam. You have a week to do the pre-exam & the answers are almost all in order in the book. A little hard to understand so sit up front and you'll do great. I skipped like 7 classes and missed a whole exam and still got a B. Lots of bonus work.

During his lectures he is hard to understand. Once asked a question, he does not answer your full question and instead tries to change topics. He is very one minded and has a hard time listening to other peoples opinions or statements.

I took this class online and it was the easiest thing ever. All discussions answers come from textbook and can find answers through the context. And test are super easy because she gives study guides with usually the same questions. Recommend especially the online class !!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! He is by far the worst teacher I've had my entire college career. Tunga does lectures but doesn't use any tools to help you (projector, canvas, notes). He basically teaches word for word from the textbook which is very expensive. He is very offensive and unorganized. Highly recommend not taking this class.

One of the worst professors Ive had at Santa Fe. Very very little feedback on what is wrong with your work, but continues to grade incredibly harsh. Literally on my one assignment All that was written was inadequate and a bad grade. Test questions make little sense and theyre all 100 questions.

Worst professor I've ever had. Says off topic completely inappropriate things during class, embarrassing students with no cause. Doesn't read what you send him through email/canvas. NEVER references the textbook, making it impossible to self-teach WHICH YOU WILL NEED TO DO TO PASS. He will disrupt class for 10 minutes if someone checks their phone.

I don't know why Dr. Lergo has bad ratings. If you show up to class, take notes, do the bonus work and try, you will pass. There are 3 pre-exams, 3 exams, and bonus work to encourage attendance. No papers which is an added plus. He doesn't tolerate phone usage in class. I got an A. I am taking him again next semester.

I had Dr. Lergo two semesters in a row. Both times, I received an A. If you follow the syllabus, do the bonus work, and study the outlines in his lectures you will pass. He does know early on who attends class on a regular basis and who does not.

There were no assignments in the class to help learn and understand the material, only 4 tests and 4 discussions. He was extremely hard to get ahold of through email. I received a 90 on two discussions that he changed to 70's and when I emailed him he said he would fix it, but he never did. Would not recommend this class, but it's doable.

I really wish I'd had the forethought to look for ratings before I took this class. Seems like he might be bearable for in-person lessons, but don't bother if you're doing his class online. He's completely incomprehensible; exam two had a question about what two states have legalized gay marriage, which was legalized nationally June 15, 2015.

Learned nothing in this class. He did not give due dates because they made him feel "rushed". Only assignments are 4 tests and 4 pretests. If you do poorly on just 1, you aren't passing. He gives no feedback or clear instruction. Luckily all pretests are on quizlet so if you copy that and study for test, you can manage. Regret taking this class.

Easy A. Taken two of his classes now because I know I'm going to get an A+. Three pre-tests, three exams, and one homework + many extra credits all super easy you won't fail unless you don't try. You have to buy your own scantrons which some people forgot to do. I never bought the texts books and was just fine.

If you value the student-teacher relationship and think you will be asking questions, this is not the class for you. I don't recommend taking this class in general because the material is a waste of time, but if you do, take a different professor. He grades incredibly slow and harsh. He gives feedback for the discussions, but they aren't helpful and he will mark off points for not including things that he didn't even put in the rubric. I almost got all A's :(

This is probably the worst professor I have ever had. He either will not answer emails. He does give you time to complete the work, BUT you are completely on your own to learn the material. There are no study guides for the exams. Take this class with this professor if you just need the credit for graduation, not if you actually want a good grade.
