Awesome prof, really relates to the class and make it fun. Definatly my favorite class all year. Would highly recommend.
He was a GREAT prof. Very helpful and encouraging and incorporates real world material into the class. He's not one of those old school profs, he values our opinions and he has the current information. He has a wonderful sense of humour and because of the quality of his teaching, I went to every single class!

You won't regret taking his class.
He is great. Very enthusiastic and passionate about teaching.Makes everthing interesting. Helpful and pretty darn good looking.
An amazing professor! Very energetic, enthusiastic, and likes to involve students in the class. Extremely helpful and shows how course content can easily be applied to your future career.
Professor Case restored my faith in teachers and in the UofS commerce program. He is knowledgeable, helpful, engaging, and really cares about what he's teaching and about the students. Places an emphasis on important subjects not covered enough in business, such as environment and ethics. He is by FAR the best prof I've had at the UofS.
He is the greatest teacher even, my all time favorite, he definately makes it his job to learn your names and to make you feel part of the class, he uses great stuff to get everything across, although the exams are some what hard, you definately will not regret taking this class.
BEST PROF EVER!!! if your a farm kid, take his class...
Tyler Case was a wonderul prof. Used very current powerpoint slides that highlighted the texts as well as current events and how the two relate. Exams were kind of tricky, but all MC. Assigments were done in class in groups and include extremely reasonable amount of work. He's not too hard to look at either.
He was a great prof. I do not regret taking this class.
He seems like a laid back guy, but his exams are absolutely stupid hard. Pointlessly hard.
I think he's such a nice guy, and he's not overly passionate about what he's teaching, but more or less passionate about making sure his students learn and have a good time. I highly recommend him as a prof.
Good guy, makes class fun, but is extremely hard. He is passionate about teaching, but you definately have to make his class one of your top priorities to do well.
Great entertaining teacher, i looked forward going to class. Helpful and keeps things current and up to date. Exams are hard especially his multiple choice.
The best prof by far that I've had in my two years of university. VERY inspirational and VERY passionate about life. He challenges his students to really think about their lives and where they're going. He completely changed my way of looking at university. Definitely take his class if you have the opportunity!
He is very passionate about what he is teaching, and really challenges you and makes you think about why you are there, and appreciate the subject. Tests are pretty hard. He makes the class interesting, and the discussions really intrigue the students and make them want to attend.
Fun teacher, takes the time to get to know his class by name. He keeps things interesting with current events. Tests are only difficult if you don't pay attention to what he focuses on in class. Don't be afraid to speak up in class and ask questions
His class is just interesting. You can learn al lot from his lectures not only for the course materials as well as things relate to your life. His tests are definitely hard, but students can learn and think a lot, that's really something。I'm gonna take his 306 class again soon. Looking forward that!
Such a great prof! Uses lots of videos to lecture and loves class discussions, especially current debatable topics. He makes an effort to remember you, even after a couple of years. He is a passionate farmer in the fall, and loves talking about it too.
Great prof. Challenges his students but in a fair and reasonable way. Makes lectures interesting and easy to follow.
Tests are hard. Very engaging during lecture.
Case was an excellent prof! Always good to listen to, even though the course itself is fairly uninteresting. Case if a powerpoint whiz, prepare for your mind to be blown with his animations and pictures.
Good guy, terrible prof. One of the worst prof's I've had during my undergrad. I sympathize because this is a terrible course that is currently under review, but this pros is exceptionally awful. Spends the first 10mins of class complaining about his personal life. took 5 weeks to hand back our interim report which was needed for the next report
Great Prof! Was very engaging in lectures and as a result you "wanted" to attend to class, opposed to "having" to attend. The final and midterm were fair as long as you read the textbook and paid attention in class!
A fun speaker and elaborates on notes but is not afraid to call you out in class for texting or talking. Tests are very hard! Encourages student to participate. Very blunt about things and talks a lot about his own life.
Passionate about communication materials and excellent slides. Compassionate about student problems. In class however can be very irritable and takes too many things personally. Can be quite harsh with his teasing. Worried he will burn out of the profession.
Tyler Case is very passionate about his work, and overall a nice guy. However, his midterm/final exam was pretty challenging and COMPREHENSIVE covering about 17+ chapters. Overall I'd say he's an average prof, but really nice guy. I would only recommend this class if you are able to put A LOT of time into it!
He is a great guy and an okay professor, tests are challenging but you can do alright if you go to class. He makes the same bad jokes over and over again. His powerpoint slides are very poor so you must rely on the textbook. Overall he is an average professor and i would recommend him over some others.
Tyler Case is a great prof. He is hilarious and keeps you engaged throughout the class. The group project was marked very hard and his tests were very difficult. He is very inspiring as a person though, and I would take another class with him in a heartbeat.
Good guy, tough prof. He said more than once for our midterm that he would "not try to trick or fool" us, yet every fourth question was on something he might have spent 5 seconds on once upon a time. I came to every class, read every chapter, and still had trouble getting more than a 75 on his tests.
His lectures hold your attention and he is a very interesting prof; however, the content you are tested on is far more in depth than what is discussed or seemingly expected in class. This makes for a lower grade than desired.
Tyler was an amazing lecturer. His lectures were very valuable to attend. His midterm was rather simple. He marked a little bit on the harder side for the group project. Final was easy to score well on as long as you attended lectures and took decent notes
Great Prof, he's funny, passionate, and probably the best professor I've had in my short university career
He's the best prof I've ever had! Loves to teach and inspire! You don't have to attend class, but I really enjoyed going. He's easy to talk to after class.
Good Prof in terms of teaching. But his tests are pointlessly hard. Why deleberatly try to fail poor engineering students like us?
Class is pretty boring and the test really don't have to do with a lot that you have learned. Tyler Case though is a stud, he's pretty funny and kinda saves the class.
Case is a great guy and very inspirational. Course materials normally get thrown to the wayside for his life lesson teachings though. Exams are not overly difficult if you wanna score a 70-80, but he likes to toss a fair amount of material from outside the course onto the exams making it difficult to score A+. Grades projects slightly hard.
If you are anything other than a Business student, watch out. He seems very biased especially against engineering students. Never show up late to class either because he will call you out and make a HUGE deal about it. Boring lectures filled with useless information about his fantasy basketball. If you can avoid him, I highly recommend it.
This is the reason why I hate group projects.. I did very well on my midterm and even got awarded in class, but the group project was weighted so heavily that it brought my average down below 80. I don't like that your grades rely on your other classmates.. if you take this class don't just memorize, understand the material or you will not pass..
Tyler has been one of my best professors by far! To some, business might not be something they want to learn about but I found lectures to be so interesting that it made exams fairly straight forward. I hope to have Tyler as a professor later on in my student career.
Make sure to show up. He speeds through concepts, so don't expect to get all the notes if you're writing by hand. Tests are always more in depth than lectures. Current oil price and unemployment rate were on his exams so be prepared. Understand concepts, butter up his fantasy basketball team or his love for station wagons and you'll be fine.
Tyler is by far the best professor I had in University thus far. I admit, his tests are content heavy, but 80+ is manageable if you put in the effort. He conducts his lectures effectively and in an interesting way. Case is such a great guy, and always willing to help out if needed. Highly recommend him. He is easy going, and modernizes the class!
Tyler is a good guy, you can do super well on the group project if you work hard! his midterm hurts your mark a bit just because of the current events and situations he gives. Final exam was fair if you studied. He talks about fantasy basketball alot?
He's very inspirational, and every lecture almost feels like a performance or a speech. He knows how to capture the attention of his audience (class) using humor, tone and personal stories. He marks slightly hard for the group project. However, he will call you out if you leave in the middle of class.
Tyler has been my favorite Professor so far. Gave amazing, funny lectures with personal stories that relate to the class. Midterm sucks because of the current events on it, but the final is relatively easy, but very long. Marked the group project fairly, so put lots of time into it!
Comm 447 is the worst class business students at U of S have to take, so he's up against it. He does however make it way worse by marking way too hard and having 0 chill. He's super bias towards marketing, and also marks super subjectively based on his preferences.
Tyler's lectures are poor. He repeats himself, goes back and forth on his answers and never really gives you a solid answer. 447 is a bad class and I think he knows it. He takes a long time getting drafts back and his feedback is unclear and vague. He could be a good prof but has no chill and expects you to work harder than he does.
very good prof. gave fair midterm and final. the group project was tough with the large group sizes but was marked fair. He can be cranky sometimes but other than that i was engaged in every lecture and left feeling i learned something new
Simple, Precise and to the point
We only had a few assignments but they were all in groups and its the same group for the entire semester. Doing group assignments were especially hard with the remote learning. Final exam is a whole strategic report. My group didnt do so well so I got a C. Not even the finals could bring it up.
I'd rate him lower than a 1 if I could. Beware for his exams he will use completely irrelevant information. Don't bother even listening to any of his lectures, since he likes to only make exam questions based on random articles and textbook work. His lectures are very vague and don't help you in any way. By far my least favourite class.
30% of your grade will be based on a group project with 6 members which is nearly impossible to coordinate online. Too many midterm questions were based on useless facts from random news articles instead of course concepts. Watered down version of 200 level intro courses - useless, dull, and a money grab from the uni. Get rid of this course.
I took this in fall 2020 and I am happy to say that it wasn't as bad as I anticipated based on reviews. There was a big group project but I felt the grading was very fair and my group did very well. The course did rely on the textbook and was a little dry. I found the test did have extra material but in all fairness it was included in the material
Expectations at times were unclear, but overall good. Class was just a more in depth Comm101. Tyler made boring classes/material better. Feedback was very valuable for the draft. Would take any of Tyler's classes again.
Professor Case does a pretty good job delivering his material. I would prefer fewer group projects (I literally did all the work for our group!). His online exams are also extremely difficult! Extremely stressful. And make sure you view all the included web links (even those that seem completely irrelevant to the course material). Good luck!
Great guy, you will get good marks but you have to put in the time. If your failing its because your not giving it your all.
Attending class goes along way. Sent him an email because I had a question and his response had a lack of professionalism and kindness.
good guy but hard class
His group projects are marked extremely hard and his tests cover absolutely everything even if he specifically says it won't be on the test. Exact stats from videos and "common saskatchewan knowledge" is tested. He is also incredibly grumpy and rude in his lectures. Don't get up to go to the washroom or say a single word, he might yell at you.
It does not matter what you study, it will not be the right thing. I just finished a final that asked about details of the south Saskatchewan river. How does knowing if it gives the most water deposits in Canada pertain to an introduction to business course? Time to go cry.
Final exam was unfair and upmost pointless/irrevalant to the course content. NO studying or a lot of studying would have done nothing. Waste of time and a salary.
Worst professor I have ever had. The course is useless and needs to be removed so I can't put all the blame on him but there is just way too much content. Mid-term exam was the hardest test I have ever wrote with ~20 out of 80 questions being random questions from videos/articles. The final had only 2 article/video questions but was still tricky.
If you are not good at self directed learning, I do not recommend taking this online. Modules definitely need to be updated as the textbook is more current. Group project was challenging to coordinate with 7 people but is a reflection of the real working world. Midterm and exam are crazy. Make sure you do all your readings!
He was honestly rude during the class and lost it on a lot of students.
Very rude guy, if you have a question and email him to ask about it he provides you with no help and speaks to you terribly. Group assignment questions are very vague and make it very difficult to answer them, and thus, get a bad mark.
Online exams, he's usually a nice guy and is fairly reasonable. Has random outbursts in class which are more distracting than what he's angry about. Avoid answering questions unless you're certain because he may demean you. Don't make jokes or be late. Pay attention in class; he moves quick. Sit down, shut up, listen, finish your work and leave.
Tyler is a very tough grader but you can learn a lot from him. He shows he cares about the student's progress and he tried to make his lectures fun. Tough grader with not only the project but the in-class participation.
The online course's exams were VERY difficult. All multiple choice, sometimes regarding information that isn't deemed as useful. Ensure you do the readings and understand the concepts.
Prof Case was very rude and demeaning to students when asking questions. He would get mad at people in class for not paying attention which was very disruptive to lectures. The group project questions were vague and very hard to get a high mark on. Midterm and Final were online and he provided little to no practice questions to prepare for them.
Struggled to follow lectures.
Not good
this dude an og
awful
ignore the bad reviews. people don't try very hard and think they can get good grades.
Ignore the good reviews, there all lies
Tyler is a solid professor, he brings relevant news and examples into lectures which is nice. He has no time for people who show up late and are disruptive or distracting. Pretty test-heavy with a major group project. Overall, he is a guy you really enjoy or loathe.
Tyler picks favourites; if you want to be one, be prepared to be a brown-noser. Refrain from challenging Tyler or asking difficult questions to receive a good grade. Get in line and toot his horn!
Tyler is the most biased professor I have encountered during my undergraduate studies. He does not want to hear different opinions; if you don't agree with everything he says, you're in his bad books. It is hard to want to learn from somebody who is as stubborn and close-minded as Tyler.
The worst professor I have ever had in my life. He gives a big group project and gives 60s on every worksheet, no matter what, with feedback that makes no sense. His midterm is all on obscure information from videos or websites he posts. You learn nothing useful in this class. Avoid Prof Case, I don't know how anybody has given him a good rating.
Tyle Case should legitimately not be a professor. He instructs and grades with bias and does not take criticism well. Work is marked subjectively with unhelpful feedback. Do not take classes with this professor.
Tyler was a great prof! Very respectful, passionate, and knowledgeable when it comes to entrepreneurship. If you apply yourself and show genuine interest in his class, you'll do well. By far one of the best professors I've had during the course of my degree.
Prof Case is respectable. But his TA Anna grades poorly on group work, many times making unhelpful, borderline rude comments; usually not even directly related to the class content itself. Feedback is meant to help improve our work over the term! Not the case here. Turned a good class into one that lots of students didn't look forward to anymore.
