He is funny and very helpful! He is a little disorganized but i took him his first year teaching a lab. Very helpful during labs and goes over the lab as a class. Has quizzes on every lab put pay attention and you'll do good! Highly recommended!
He's an awesome professor. Very helpful when you ask and he's also a really funny person with a great personality. You can tell his passion towards Biology and teaching :) study and read/do the lab manual and notes prior to the next class and you will do great in his class while having a fun time.
he is very good professor but his test is way too hard. even though you study hard enough he gives question with more analysis.... :( lots of work and as other A students saying... read lecture note, do your best you will get A haha
He lectures materials extremely fast, and is a little disorganized. Don't really need to show up for class because you have a better chance to pass his exams through the internet and textbook than to rely on his lectures
This class can be challenging, but it is not impossible to ace his class. His tests are fair (most r directly from his lectures), and he always makes himself available to students. He also curves his exams and drop the lowest grade. Overall a great and patient professor, would recommend him to friends
Not easy class. You must study or get a C or below. Even if you study , it is not easy to get an A. Take this class if you are interested in biology
Good teacher. He is not lying when he says that this is a college Bio course. It requires reviewing your material after each class and knowing the vocab words. Really fun teacher who really knows his stuff but dont expect a cake walk. The easy points are in lab and the challenging points are on the tests.
He's an awesome teacher and makes bio fun. Just make sure to show up to class because you need your lab work.
Very passionate about biology and it shows in the way he teaches. Awesome, knowledgeable guy, and for a new professor (especially for a course like bio2) he handled it really well. He's very fair in grading and more than willing to discuss any issue you may have with the material. As he keeps teaching I only suspect he'll keep getting better.
He's a good teacher. Going to lectures and labs are absolutely essential for you to do well. He's very clear about what he expects from you. The subject matter isn't difficult, but the class is very time-consuming. It takes persistence and stamina. If you want an A, you can get an A. Put a lot of effort into it and don't give up so early or easily.
The professor is great, the class itself is just very time consuming. A LOT of memorization, but the material itself is fairly easy, there's just so much. Overall, great professor, he is available and happy to help. His powerpoints and study guides are gold in preparing for the test. If you're willing to put the time in, you'll get the A
Coolest teacher ever gave so many extra credit opportunities strives for his students to get As
real ezpz A, showed up in and class filled out notes and slept a little
Honestly a super passionate teacher. He does what he can to teach the material and make it interesting. He gets the class involved and wants to help his students get As. Great guy and great class overall and I didn't really care for bio before this. I would definitely recommend.
Really awesome teacher , helps you whenever you need help and will meet with you outside of his office hours if needed, tests are pretty straight forward he gives out a study guide a week before the test which helps a lot
As my first semester in college, I am so grateful to have had Tyler as an awesome professor. He is a very funny and down to earth guy. He is so passionate about the subject and knowledgable. He makes it very clear that as long as you pay attention and study the entire semester, you will have no problem passing his class.
BEST professor I have ever had. Extremely devoted to teaching and really inspired everyone. Long lectures but if you pay attention and study hard, its an easy A. Its all about effort. Definitely would recommend!!!
Super cool and down to earth; but he does mean business! Attendance is mandatory for WEEKLY quizzes in both lecture and lab. Very approachable and willing to help you understand. Great lectures, lots of extra credit opps. Gotta crack down on studying if you wanna pass those exams tho.. but that's to be expected. It's college. Would def take again!
Tyler has challenged me to become a better student! He gives you everything you need for every exam, but his exams are extremely tricky if you don't study or decide to cram the night before. Take advantage of the extra credit he offers because it WILL help you! I highly recommend him if you're not looking for an easy A type of class.
He is just amazing take him, he cares so much about his students and making sure that his students succeed if you ask for help you will get it, study hard for those exams, study guide is your best friend, go to office hours as well! Don't miss class either trust it's a lot of material!
He is honestly the best professor that I have ever had. Although bio 2 is a tough course he made it enjoyable and really fun :)! TAKE HIM! you won't regret it. There are 5 practicums and 5 lecture exams including the lecture final. He gives printouts of the notes and basically as long as you study those, thats what is going to be on the exams!
His lecture is easy to understand. If you study and remember most of material on the study guide, it will be really easy to get an A in the exams. He offers many extra credit, on quizess, exams, assignment and another 20points by writing something base on some videos. He drops 3 lowest quizess and replaces lowest exam grade by higher final grade:)
Professor F is awesome! But don't take his class thinking it's going to be a piece of cake. In fact, I'd recommend taking it during a Spring or Fall semester. I got an "A" in his course, but he really makes you work for it. Lot's of info. to learn! He makes you have a greater appreciation for nature and is great for a laugh. *red hot chili pepper*
Tyler is an amazing professor that really motivated me to do well in his class. Bio 2 is a hard class due to the large amount of course material but tyler made it really enjoyable. Would recommend him to everyone!
Tyler is great! He gives study guides that tells you everything thats gonna be on the test, and its all from your lecture notes. He also gives quizzes on average once a week but he drops half of them and keeps your best scores. The final replaces your lowest exam grade as well. The only way to fail is if you dont show up.
Pros: study guides for all the exams. Just follow the study guide, you will get an easy A. He always let students know what will be tested. and the exam is pretty straight forward.... Just put in some work, and A will be yours.. there is nothing like getting an A without studying or working for it... Cons: his language, sometimes... >.-
Wish he taught higher division bio courses. He is an amazing professor and individual. I will miss his lectures and labs dearly. I will never forget him nor the things learned in his class.
This is my third year at Mt. Sac and using rate my professor and I have never given a review. For Professor. Flisik it was almost a must. He is chill if you get to know him. Bio was not as difficult as people say it is. He gives all the material he goes over just have to pay attention. Take him if his classes aren't full. And study alot, sacrifice
Tyler is a really chill, funny and awesome professor. He enjoys teaching Bio and puts a lot of effort into making sure we understand what is being taught. I would take his course anytime, hands down. Easy A but studying is required otherwise you won't pass and will waste your time, just like any other science class.
Tyler is a chill dude. He actually loves to teach and loves his students. Dude is the man. Never had a teacher that was compassionate about his students. I would have a beer with this man and listen to him about life. Do the study guides. Do the study guides!!! I will drink a beer for him. Thanks Tyler.
Great teacher, made learning fun. I took him in a short semester, so we had to cram a lot of information in a short period of time. He was understanding, passionate and overall just a great guy. Take him for bio!!!!!
I took this class during an intercession & as crazy as it seems, it's doable. Professor Flisik is one of the greatest teachers & I highly recommend you take this class with him! It's crucial to DO THE STUDY GUIDE, attend class with your ears ready to listen & turn in the work on time! Going to the stem center is also beneficial (ask for Perla)!!
This professor is very passionate about bio! He gives out a lecture outline so all you have to do is listen and fill it out. Do not miss the lecture there is just way too much info to retain. If you want a C or higher be sure to study at least 3 weeks before the exam. Do the study guide and study it! Gives little homework & quizzes every lecture!
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had in college. Genuinely caring and kind-hearted professor, you will have to work for it but he is extremely knowledgeable and loves to teach. Show up to class, do the assignments, study his lectures and you will be guaranteed an Easy A. Thankful for taking such an amazing professor.
What an awesome teacher. Gives Extra credit but not going to be easy but he makes it so much fun. Down to earth and really loves Bio. Use office hours and coaching. Quizzes every week, 4 exams, midterm and final. It's a lot of work but he makes you love the class.
If you plan to take BIO 2, take Flisik! Study guides are pretty accurate. Study all the guides, youll do well on the lecture exams. Study and memorize lab packets, youll do well on the practicum. Pro tip: go to coaching! Do all extra credit!
Professor Tyler is one of the nicest people I ever met and I really learned a TON from his class. I struggled in the beginning, but he gives you many chances to get an A. He has 4 exams and 1 final. He drops one of your lowest exam scores and replaces it with your final exam score. He gives extra credit and outside tutoring resources :) love him!!!
Class Taken: Spring 2018 WARNING! IT'S HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU TAKE COACHING FOR THIS CLASS! THERE IS A LOT OF CONTENT FOR THIS CLASS!!! TAKE THIS CLASS VERY SERIOUSLY & SPEND TIME STUDYING!!! He hands out study guides and lectures & good at teaching the class. FOCUS ON YOUR STUDY GUIDE & LECTURE PACKETS FOR EXAMS!!!
Professor Flisik is amazing at what he does, his lectures require you to be engaged and so do the weekly quizzes but his lab sessions are to die for. I truly loved the class and though I struggled with my first exam I passed with flying colors. As long as you put in effort, this class will be as enjoyable for you as it was for me.
His exams are kinda easy. The first exam i didnt study much but i got a high C every exam after that was a 90 and above cuz his study guides contain all the concepts that are on the exam. One thing though you will have 5 point quizes almost every week but again real easy. Hes made me want to study Bio. Also really funny guy with great anecdotes.
My favorite teacher of all time... Mr. Flisik is a chill, laid back guy who loves biology and enjoys teaching his class. He is funny and kind and makes his class very entertaining. You will need to pay attention to his lectures but he gives you everything you need to succeed. His study guides are concise which helps a lot with tests. RECOMMENDED!!
Tyler is an amazing professor! Never a dull moment in his class. I wouldn't say this class is an easy A but so long as you pay close attention to the lectures and put the time in to utilize the study guides (which are very specific in stating what you need to know for the exams), you will succeed in his class. I could not recommend Tyler enough.
This guy is a legend and I am so thankful that I took his class. I actually learned a lot from his class and it is awesome to see a professor actually show his passion towards his field. I used to really hate science back then but he really did change my perspective on it.
Tyler is a chill guy, but has some traditional archaic teaching methods. If you want to sit in an hour plus lecture then take him. There are better Bio 1 instructors who are more engaging and interactive during lectures.
I took Tyler for bio 1 in fall 2018. He has great lectures that are easy to understand. All his lectures, study guides, extra credit, and grades are on his website ready on the first day of class. If you study and put the work in then you'll pass easily. DO THE STUDY GUIDES A WEEK BEFORE EXAMS!! Expect weekly quizzes they help prepare for exams!
Tyler is a chill, funny, inspirational person who has a passion for biology. He tells funny stories that relate to the lecture to help us better understand what he's teaching. He is great motivational speaker who gives you confidence in biology. Trust me, after one day with him you'll never want to miss his class.
This guys great. Very caring and fun guy to be around, definitely would have a beer with him. His class is not easy though, you might study more than youve ever had to. Ace the lab, which is easy and fun, and study hard in lecture and youll be good. In the end made me a better student and person.
Hes very caring towards his students and UNDERSTANDING, especially when it comes to the final. The study guide is literally the test and his quizzes are sometimes hard but not really. Offers an abundant amount of extra credit. Coaching is amazing and helps you understand his material. Overall a good teacher.
His exams are based on his lectures. He even gives out a detailed study guide telling us what will be on his exams. The lab was also fairly easy and fun! He really cares about his students and wishes the best for them.
Tyler is one of a kind man, this guy wants the best for his students and wants every single one to succeed. He makes lecture and lab interesting with his humor and gives great examples of the content in his lectures. He will challenge you, but he just wants you to be a better student. DO THE STUDY GUIDES THEY WILL HELP! #brothernature
Bio 2 is a hard class with any professor. Study a lot and you will pass. However, this professor makes himself available outside during office hours to answer any questions. He also provides a study guide for the exams. Give this man all the jobs!
I enjoyed his Biology course. He provides lecture handouts and there is a short quiz every week. Lectures are easy to follow and he provides help whenever you need it, attend his office hours for additional one on one help. Labs were fun and there is lab quiz's as well, they were laid back. I do suggest taking him for biology, you'll have fun.
If youre looking a bio class for GE, this class and prof is a good one. Lots of field trip(6 or more) and he is very passionate about it. Not easy A on exam but worth the experience. gives very clear study guide. He also chill and have a great sense of humor.
Honestly probably one of the best professors at Mt. Sac overall. He is super clear about what he expects from you in order to pass the class. Definitely makes the lectures interactive to keep students paying attention throughout. Just make sure to do the study guide fully and start studying in advance and the rest will just line up. Overall solid!!
He is definitely an amazing professor! Just beware that there are about 4-5 field trips and it is recommended that you go to all of them to get full points for the reports! Also STUDY STUDY STUDY. He literally tells you what is going to be on the practicums so dont be surprised.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken but also one of my favorite. If you are not a BIO major you will hate this class. So much studying it literally took up all of my time and sleep. Do not take other heavy classes with this class or have a job or a life. the professor is the absolute best bio teacher he will make you appreciate life
if you're not a Bio major this class will be pretty tough, but he's very enjoyable and hilarious! He will literally tell you what will be on the exams too. DO THE STUDY GUIDE. DO THE STUDY GUIDE. DO THE STUDY GUIDE. DO THE STUDY GUIDE.
Tyler is the BEST professor you could take. Not an easy course at all but he literally GIVES you what you need to study! He LOVES LIFE and cares about his students. He can talk really fast but he has to, SO much information! STUDY STUDY STUDY! Attend the coaching (Perla is pretty awesome!) and go to his office hours. Absolutely LOVE TYLER!
He made bio 2 extremely easy, it's not as hard as people make it out to be. He gives out the most extra credit out of all the bio 2 professors. He has 10-15 quizzes BUT he only keeps 6 of the highest scores from those quizzes. His practicums are straightforward as long as you study (they're like his lab manuals!!). Honestly one of the best profs.
I took Tyler's class during the winter intersession. He gave handouts and powerpoints so there was no need for textbook. A lot of memorization, quizzes almost every day, if you struggle in the class, I wound recommend you to watch YouTube videos that relate to the subject. The final exam is optional, it can replace your lowest exam score.
I took Professor Flisik over the Winter session of 2020. He is always so energetic and is very passionate about what he does. He is always willing to help you because he wants his students to pass. Do the assignments and do the study guides! If you do that you will understand the material and you will pass! Do yourself a favor and take his class!
The amount of work that goes into this class is overwhelming, in addition Prof. Tyler also seemed uninterested towards the end of the semester. Lectures are very long and the course work is solely on lecture materials. Was hoping to enjoy biology, but he killed it for me. Should acknowledge the variety of different learning styles we have.
Tyler is a great guy/great teacher, who does everything in his power to help his students succeed. However, his class is an extremely heavy on, so be prepared to work and only take his class when youre NOT going to school full time.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! Yes, his class is difficult, but only for those who expect the easy A and choose not to put in the work. He gives study guides that have EVERYTHING you need for the test on them. DO THEM! BESIDES that there is an average amount of hw and labs are kinda fun. Take him, he's pretty cool.
Prof. Flisik was pretty cool, funny and motivating. He responds quick to emails and lays out how the course is going to go on day 1. Bio 1 is a lot especially over a 6-week course but do study guides, assignments and STUDY and you'll be good. He has extra credit questions here & there & 1 extra credit assignment that can help. Definitely recommend!
Tyler is such a great professor! I used to dislike science before taking his course, but he made it really enjoyable. The lectures were all videos and the labs were really fun even though we did them over zoom. The material can be a lot but do THE STUDY GUIDES. They are the key to getting an A in the class.
Awesome professor, learned more in this BIO class than I did in Micro-Bio and laid the foundation to really understanding biology in general. Would 100% recommend to other pre-health majors! Straight forward material. No book required, all included in attending class and power points.
One of the best professors I have taken honestly, he really cares about his students and wants them to learn. Exams are kind of heavy and technical but if you download his study guide it has all answers on it. Do your work and read the study guide and you should have no problem passing. 10/10 would take again.
It is not an easy A for those exams. But there are other assignments you can catch up on. I study a lot every week since I never took bio classes before and everything is new to me. But as long as you study hard, you will be okay! Professor Tyler cares about students so much. He always answers your questions and explains very well.
I highly encourage you all to take Professor Flisik's class! He is an exceptional professor. He is extremely passionate about biology, which makes his lectures more engaging. Tyler provides you with everything you need to succeed in the class, so you just need to do your part to study and participate. I wish I took his class in person!
Tyler is an awesome professor. He's super chill, nice, and helpful. There's an average amount of homework, labwork, and small quizzes. Although there is a textbook, you don't need it. I didn't use it at all. For the exams, DO THE STUDY GUIDE. It's long and it's a lot, but it's what you need to ace the exams. Do your work and have fun!
I was scared to take Bio for my GE, but Tyler totally made it doable! Though this class was online, there was a lot of work (but it was doable!). He gives study guides ( be aware they are long) which have basically everything you need to know. He is extremely caring and always willing to help. Go to office hours! Amazing prof.
Prof Flisik is the clearest grader and is very lenient. He only keeps some quiz scores and he drops one exam score. He gives super long study guides before exams but the exam is word-for-word the study guide. He is also humorous and makes the lab and lectures fun! Very accessible out of class and is always willing to talk and help !
His natural biology class was by far the hardest class I've taken at Mt SAC. However, it is also the most fun and amazing class I've taken. I would 100% take his class again if given another opportunity to choose classes.
not boring :))
He makes biology very fun, and he makes sure that we understand the topics. He will straight out tell you how to prepare for exams and he gives out study guides (which is very rare) and he does drop a few low grades through out the semester which is so nice, not to mention that he is very funny.
Tyler is an amazing professor! He makes his students understand biological concepts rather than just memorizing. You should be able to pass as long as you put in time and effort outside class. He offers two extra credits and drops the lowest exam grade. Textbook is not mandatory.
Tyler is the best bio professor ever however the class itself is heavy he cares about his student so much he is a fair grader . I would definitely take any class he is teaching i 100% recommend him
Great professor, just beware you need to study a lot if you're not good at biology. Don't take him if you're taking other difficult classes.
He's a good professor just needs to work on time management. Always behind on subjects and lectures
Make sure to do all the assignments and study the lecture notes to pass the assessments. Flashcards were useful. Field trips are required but they provided a great environment for learning. Lectures were great as well. Study guides are provided, extra credit can be earned. Overall, it was a generous class. Just send him emails if you have any q's.
This class was fun and insightful. The field trips are mandatory (you will go camping). The test are easy as long as you study the material on study guide. Make flashcards! You have to keep a field notebook which will be graded so take notes on field trips. Overall would recommend!
Great professor very respectful and understanding! I recommend taking this class because he made me love Biology even more.
Professor Flisik has been by far one of the greatest professors I have had. He provides great assignments like lecture videos, articles, and study guides. Seeing how knowledgeable and passionate he is about biology makes me want to take more courses in biology. He helps his students grow their understanding and become successful in this course.
Tyler is not only an amazing professor but overall a great dude. You can tell he loves biology and is very passionate. I struggled a bit in the beginning but just make sure you study the study guide and ask questions! No class session was ever boring, very funny guy. Are you considering taking his class? Yes or no? *answer is yes!!!*
Professor Flisik is truly a amazing professor and I highly recommend to take him. Although beware that this is not a easy course and he will treat you like the college student you are. This class does require lots of studying. He is very passionate about his job and he makes his lectures/labs so much fun!His grading when it comes to tests is fair!
Amazing course, consistently engaging. Labs were very fun, despite my taking this just for the science/lab credit instead of my major- the labs, field trips, and even lectures were amazing, and it is really easy to ask questions for clarity. The use of discord was very helpful, especially in studying for exams. I would love to take this class again
Lots of field trips that were fun, purposeful, and ultimately contributed to hands-on learning of the subject. Attendance and participation are important, but not too difficult because the content of the class is both fun and challenging. Assignments are given regularly but useful, nothing assigned is pointless "busy work". Take this class!
I rate it a solid 3 because it's mostly quizzes every week for lectures and lab but it's pretty cool that you're very funny and you are a respected person to know here and there.
Such a great teacher! Made learning super fun, BIO was never really my favorite but now it is. You learn so many useful things in this class which puts a lot into perspective about life. You go on field trips during class time and an overnight camping trip which are all so much fun. As long as you do the work and study for exams you can get an A!!!
Tyler was the best professor I've taken at Mt Sac so far. He's very clear about what is gonna be on the exams, DO THE STUDY GUIDE!! Write it out and type it out just to be sure. I learned so much from this class and would recommend everyone to take bio 1 with this professor.
He's one of the best teachers I have had. He presents the lectures and material funnily and intriguingly. He makes jokes quite often with students and overall seems very passionate about Bio. For most of the term, I did not take it seriously and near the end, I was able to get my grade up to a B. If you study and participate, you'll surely get an A
Incredibly amazing, honestly made me rediscover my passion for science. He makes labs and lectures fun with his jokes. Has guided notes and 4 exams total, provides videos for help, and will assign some articles related and helpful to the course. He genuinely wants his students to pass and will do his best to motivate you to it. Would take again. :)
If you're considering this class, JUST DO IT! Very caring & passionate with engaging lectures. Very reasonable tests based entirely off of a study guide that he'll give you. If you struggle with his weekly quizzes, I seriously urge you to go to office hours. Prof. Flisik is one of the best I've had and I'd take him again just for fun!
