Professor Haugen was great, he made an 8:00 am class worth getting up for. Subject matter was clear and understandable. Great Professor.

Professor Haugen is an excellent teacher. You do not even need to buy the book because he explains everything that needs to be taught. I had him for the 7am class and he makes it worth while to wake up early and learn. He's not boring at all. In fact, he's one of the more entertaining teachers and will keep you laughing. Tyler is really nice and a really good professor. I was dreading taking this class because of its huge research paper and because the material is pretty dry. Even though its all about research, he makes it interesting. I reccomend him for anyone who has to take soci 102 because of their major.

Very good Professor, taught me a lot about the sociology field that will definitely help me in the course of my educational and professional career.

Tyler is a great professor. I was dreading this class because of the huge research paper thats required for this class. However, he made the class interesting and I ended up getting an A. I was sure this is a class i would get a C in. Attendance is not mandatory but you should go almost every class in case he gives an activity. Very nice & helpful!

Hands down best teacher at COC! Attendance is mandatory but it's worth it. He keeps you focussed and interested. Constantly has gradebook updated to let us know what we have in the class. OVERALL A+ teacher! he's cute too! P.S. Don't waste your money on the book. He explains better than any book will!

Cool Dude, knows his stuff. Understands you may be there because you have to and makes it enjoyable. Key to pass his class is due all assignments.

Good prof., knows his stuff, but he is very hot and cold-- sometimes it seems like he is really nice and other times it seems like he is a huge jerk. he is extremely intelligent and whatnot, but just needs to work on providing a better forum of discussion of the material in class-- in other words, he has a knack for making people feel like jackasse

Tyler is by far the best teacher you can get for Soc. There are three mini quizes (easy), a mid term, final, and a paper (you have the entire semester to work on it). He makes the class interesting and fun. If you're gonna take the class, take it with him! =D

Class is mandatory because his lectures are his test. Take good notes, pay attention on the review day and you will do very well. He walks you thru the project.

Excellent teacher!! Confused on how to write a research paper? Take Tyler. A very intelligent professor who deals with no B.S. and very upfront with he wants out of his students and the course.

For sociology students who are looking for a fun way to get through statistics this is your guy. Young and fresh teaching style. Can tell he knows his stuff and cares if you do to. I sincerely appreciate Mr. Haugen enthusiasm and presentation of this class. Professor Haugen's level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Sociology has made this class very interesting. Mr. Haugen came in and literally saved my sociology class from ruin; our professor was either fired or quit halfway through the semester. He was friendly and as helpful as he could be in salvaging the class. Good guy

EASY I took the Pace course and his study guides were exactly what was going to be on the test. His GROUP final was open note/book. Also very helpful and replies to emails right away! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. MAKES YOU LOVE SOC.

Tyler is an exceptionally generous professor. He has a passion for educating students in sociology. Take his course if you want to learn. It's not an easy A ... but he is hands down the best professor. If you want to learn, he's the professor to take!

I took the short term online class and thought that it was pretty easy. He is very clear with what he is looking for and responds quick to emails. I learned a lot and felt like I didn't have to work too hard. I'll probably take him again for Soc 200 and I recomend him for anyone who needs a Soc course!

I took Sociology 101 online during the fall semester of 2008. You should read the material and you'll be fine. He helped whenever there was problem and answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend him :D

I've taken Tyler for both 101 and 200. He's very clear about his expectations. If you miss a deadline, there is no grace period. Adhere to the syllabus, turn in work on time and you will do fine. YOU have to do the work. I took his 8 week late-start 200 course. It's fast-paced. Don't take it if you can't put in the time to do the work.

AMAZING! took him online for a short-term class and it was amazing take him! he is great! responds to emails fast and is super organized. need to read the book but he is very helpful

AWESOME class! He makes his expectations of you completely clear from the very beginning. He is extremely organized and a very fast grader. READ the book and you will do fantastic! One more thing, do all assignments on time, there are no make-ups.

It was the 100% online expedited version. It was great, he was very helpful, everything required for the class was clearly written in the syllabus. I would highly recommend Prof. Haugen to everyone. If you put in the effort he will reward you accordingly. He's just cool professor who knows and understand his students.

Before I started this class, I was worried that it was going to be dull and purposeless. Now I truly miss it! This class was very enjoyable and interesting, and I am so glad I took it. I took the online, 5 week class and the work was doable. Professor Haugen made this class very engaging and was very helpful. Would highly recommend this class!

Great teacher. Took his online class. He made it easy by giving long periods to take quizzes and frequently sent out bulletins to ensure everyone was aware of upcoming assignments, etc. Would definitely take another class with him.

I took his sociology 100 (fall of 08) and sociology 200 (spring of 09). I absolutely love this teacher. Everything is so clear (even though I took his online classes). He is very helpful and you get to really love the subject of sociology. Definitely recommended!!!

Short term online class. Lots of material to cover in very little time but Professor Haugen made everything run as smooth as possible. You HAVE to read the text to do well in this class and pay attention to the syllabus. He was quick to reply to any questions asked through e-mail. Awesome professor!

Professor Haugen was awesome! I took this as an online class, and he was more available to his students than some in-class professors I've had. He truly has a passion for the subject, and he is very encouraging to students. I recommend his class to anyone!

Professor Haugen is pretty laid back..he is very helpful. You have to work for your grade. The tests are easy if you read. His class was good.

just took his semester long online class and i must say it was great. Tests every week or so but its all on the chapters. At the end offered extra credits on tests so i was able to get my grade up. Take it online!

He's very available to his students and incredibly helpful. You must keep up w/the reading in order to do well, but text was interesting/not difficult to read...

just took his 101 class online and passed with a c, passed every quiz, did some discussion boards and there is one essay and 2 articles to read and answer. easy class to take online and i recommend it for people with busy busy lives!

Prof. Haugen is a great and fair professor. I will admit that I did not do my best like I usually do due to certain circumstances and still managed to get a B in the class. His final exam was difficult and intimidating because he really wants to know that a student is coming of his class learning the material. took online wish i did in class.

Took his online class. You have to read the chapters, quizes are multiple choice and timed. Gives extra credit on a few of them. Very good at responding to emails will even let you know when he is unavailable. Take this class...easy A!

Professor Haugen is an awesome instructor. He is extremely helpful and is quick to deliver detailed feedback in order to help you improve upon future assignments. He loves Sociology and has a huge desire to help students really grasp all concepts/ideas discussed.

Great online class. Very straight forward. All you have to do is follow the syllabus. Do that and it's an easy road to an A+! Make sure you read and participate. It's that simple.

AWESOME Teacher! I took 2 of his classes and loved them both. He is the best teacher I've had at COC. He is very clear about his expectations in class and if you follow his guidelines you will get an A. I took 101 online and 220 at CC campus.

This is the second semester I've had Professor Haugen. His classes are amazing, and he loves the subject he teaches. He is strict on deadlines, but it's awesome because it keeps you on track! I highly recommend this professor for all sociology needs!!!

Interesting class and great teacher. Strict on deadlines but quizzes were easy if you read the chapters. No final which was great. Had to write papers which I dreaded but they were not too bad. Would absolutely recommend.

I took the 5-week online GO class for Sociology 101.The professors expectations of you are very clearly outlined in the syllabus, and answers emails quickly. There was an open book quiz every couple of days. There are a few papers required. Also, you have to actively participate on the discussion board, which is actually fun. Highly recommended.

Fall 2012 Online GO Class; straight forward. Professor Haugen is very helpful; he has a clear outline. The course requires commitment; Lots of Reading, 2 Reading Analyses, 1 Reflection Paper, 10 Discussion Posts, and 10 Quizzes. He keeps you motivated. I would take another class with him.

very straight forward. what he says on the syllabus is what he means. supplies a calendar and sticks to it. deadlines are not adjusted so do the work and turn it in early. i would definitely take a class with this professor. he is awesome.

Professor Haugen is an exceptional guy, there was a mix up with my add code and he was more than great about everything. Only thing he asks is that you try, do your work and turn it in on time (<-very important). Overall, very fair and well deserving of all the great reviews here on RMP, highly recommended. I took the 5-week online 101 class. Highly recommended. The syllabus and instructions are very clearly outlined, answers emails quickly. The content of the class was also interesting. As long as you actually do your work and study for quizzes, you should get an A.

Had a great experience with this 5-week online class. Definitely learned a lot in such short little time. I highly recommend that you read the chapters before taking the quizzes. Read, stay active in the discussion board, take the quizzes, and write the final paper (fun, seriously).

I took the class online over the course of 10 weeks and it was a great experience. There was one fieldwork assignment, and a research paper. Both weren't very difficult. Besides that you just need to read the book and take the online quizzes. He is strict about deadlines so do not slack off. He also drops the lowest quiz score.

I just completed taking his short-term online course for Soci-200. Professor Haugen is very helpful and frequently keeps in contact with his students via COC's student emails. If you want to take a fast pace, but overall easy and interesting course, I highly suggest it. Be mindful of the due dates and plan your time wisely, you will earn an A.

This was an awesome class, took it online. I got kicked out of a quiz, emailed Haugen and he took that quiz off my grade the next morning, he's super helpful. You read 4 chapters a week, seemed like a lot but it really wasn't as bad as I initially thought. He is very clear on what needs to be done weekly, he posts every monday so you don't forget.

took his online short term class over the summer, it was only 5 weeks so it was lots of reading and there was a quiz for almost every chapter, but very easy. Also one research paper which was actually not bad. The professor is very helpful and responds to emails fast. I recommend this class, I got an A, just do all the work and put some thought.

Took this class online over summer- short term. 1-2 chapt a week reading and 1test per chapter. 10 discussion boards. Tests are 10Q 15Min but open book. There was 1 research paper and one field work assign, ALL very easy. Professor is clear and very positive, Helpful and so sweet. Do all the work and you will get an A.

Took his class online during spring semester! Clear on what he wants and when it is due, don't miss deadlines! He responds in a timely manners to emails and his assignments are reasonable but you must put in the work to get an A! I would defintely take him again.

Great class and relevant to what is going on in the world! He allows you to have discussion that relate to whats going on with the world today and that helped me understand sociology a lot easier. Take for online an online class! Weekly quizzes and some assignments. Study and do the assignment and you got an "A"!

Must read every chapter and take notes for tests. 10 question timed quiz at the end of every chapter. 1 essay style paper, easy but related to what you read. Grades are clear cut based on your quiz. drops worst grade on quiz. Answers emails quick and gives good input! If you don't want to read don't take the class online. Otherwise easy A!

Professor Haugen was tough, but fair. It's not an "easy" class, but it can be rewarding.

Took this as a winter course, 5 weeks, online, fast paced. All that being said, Professor Haugen could not have made it any easier on us- was quick to respond to emails, addressed our concerns/questions, provided a comfortable environment. Mandatory discussion posts/week, read, and follow up quizzes. One term paper, and that's about it. Very Fair.

Do your Work and you will pass... There is One paper due and he gives you a chance to turn in a rough draft. Really easy going proffessor. One of the best.

I took him for sociology 101 a 5 week intrense course. As long as you read the chapters you are good. It was very easy but need to make sure you manage your time well and not miss any quizez or assignments. He's a really great teacher I would totally take him again in the future if I need too.

It was a very enjoyable experience. When you choose this class, you have to be willing to work here. But you get a lot of new knowledge that you will see from a new angle.

Literally the only way not to pass this class is if you don't do your work. Just be sure to check your to-do list on Canvas daily. You can access a week in ahead so it's really how you manage I took an accelerated class with him and the amount of work every week is still spaced out pretty well. This is one of the best online courses I've ever had.

Taking Socio101 online with Professor Haugen was very easy. I took over the Spring for a 5 week class. 16 discussion posts and 16 quizzes. 1 for every chapter. Quizzes were quick and super easy and discussion posts are not time consuming at all. Overall this class was a breeze and I would recommend anyone to take this wonderful Professor.

Very clear about what you need to do to succeed. Do your work by the deadlines and try to do the rough draft for the final paper. It's an interesting subject and the professor does weekly videos to get you engaged! Would definitely take again
