Yes his tests arent multiple choice, but the questions are the EXACT notes he gives us in class. if youre good at memorizing information take it, i got a 100 on two of the tests. and he gave everyone a 100 on the first paper cause he admitted to being a hard grader on papers; just go to class and take notes and youll get an A. you dont have 2 read

He's alright. Cool guy in a nerdy way. Test aren't multiple choice, but if you show up to class, he'll remember you and not completely screw over your grade in the end. Not my first choice prof, but not terrible

Pretty cool guy in a corky and nerdy way. I enjoyed his class, hated his tests. He openly admits that constant testing ruins education, so he does not like that part of class. Probably one of the tougher RELI 1001 profs,& it's one of those classes u dont know your final grade until its entered in Athena, but it will be higher than you expect!

The tests are pretty beefy and the test format reflects what he wants you to get out of each section. First test was a bunch of matching because it was just dates, third test was all discussion. He's extremely invested in what he's teaching and has been one of my favorite professors so far. Over all, if you put in some work, you'll do fine.

He's an awesome professor that does his best to make sure his students actually understand the material. Not the easiest class, but he won't kill you with tests either. If you go to class and pay attention you'll do fine. Great lecturer and very interesting. Would definitely recommend and take again

Great professor! He definitely knows his stuff. He's one of the younger professors so he teaches in a way that makes the material easy to understand and follow. Come to class everyday and you'll be fine. Anyone who says this class is difficult most likely just never came to class. Take him!

Class time was always interesting, and I never felt that my time was wasted. He was very passionate, and it was contagious. RELI1001 was my favorite class this semester. He was incredibly understanding. I had a very hectic finals week and accidentally slept through the final. I ended up taking the final with his other class two days later.

Tyler Kelley is perhaps the best professor I have had at the University of Georgia. He is funny but don't be fooled he knows his stuff. Very intelligent guy who I definitely respect! Passionate about the messed up things in this world and wants to inspire a new generation to feel the same way. If you show up to class you will get an A.

Tyler turned out to be super funny and relatable. His lectures were very interesting and kept us enticed. You can tell he is very passionate about what he's studying . Test were straight from the lectures. Didn't have to do the reading, just come to class and take great notes and it's an easy A. Missed a few classes and still got and A! Fun Class!

Pros: He knows what he's talking about, and lectures are interesting because he's very involved. No textbook, exams only cover what he says in class or writes on the board. Attendance is optional just get notes from someone else. Cons: The course was a little disorganized and you didn't really know how you were doing until the end of the course.

You MUST go to class, the tests are all short answer and essay questions straight from lectures. As long as you attend and write down everything he says you can do well. The readings are not necessary at all, and he cushions your grade with 1 page reflections and participation. Overall, a great professor that really cares about what he is teaching.

My favorite professor this semester. Super passionate about his subject and teaching in general. Willing to help. Really funny and easy to talk to. Lots of papers, but they are really easy and short. Encourages class discussions, even when slightly off topic. Would definitely take again. Made me love religion again.

My favorite teacher I have ever had by far. I took religion just for credit and it is definitely my favorite class I have taken all of college. Mr. Kelley is so passionate about religion so its not boring. He gives extra credit and if you go to his office hours you will definitely get points back on your exams. He's also really chill and funny

Tyler Kelley is by far one of the best professors at UGA. He is extremely passionate, caring, and knowledgeable about religion. He has random quizzes throughout the semester (only had 2) in-order to influence attendance. You have reflections and reading to do that are easy and help buffer out your grade. Definitely go to class or you won't pass.

Great teacher. Really understands how to be a good teacher... tests are pretty hard because they are short answer. I came to class everyday and took really good notes but his test questions aren't reflective of that so it was difficult

He is a great professor and I've learned so much in his class. He speaks really quickly and you definitely need to go to most classes/take good notes. The only downfall is that this is really not an easy A but I'd definitely take this over a joke class

I enjoyed Kelley's class. He cusses a lot but he's pretty funny. He actually cares about you as a student. Will scare you with first few tests but he actually puts in a good bit of buffers to give you a good grade. Lots of information to learn, though.

Very cool guy who makes class interesting but talks incredibly fast and can be very vague. He doesnt allow laptops so I missed parts of lecture in my notes but he allowed me to come into office hours to fill in the blanks. He gave two easy extra credit assignments, and an article review, that while tough, helped my grade a lot.

Passionate about religion and really cares more about you learning than the grade you get. Discussion heavy class and not boring by any means. You have to attend every class bc he doesn't post ANYTHING online so the tests come straight from your notes, mostly what he writes on the board. If you want to learn something useful, take him.

I loved Tyler Kelley! If you listen to the lectures you will pass the tests. He assigns readings but you don't have to read them to know what's going on. He's willing to meet with you at office hours to go over EVERYTHING if you want.

I took RELI 1001 and 1008 with Tyler and loved him. He is very lenient with grading and really focuses on getting students to learn rather than memorize stuff for tests. The class was very interesting and Tyler is a funny guy. Also, if you need an easy A this is your professor.

Tyler is a truly amazing professor who is very passionate about the course he teaches. His classes are lecture heavy; however, hes hilarious so class is always fun. The course was challenging to me, but Tyler notices when students put in time and effort to learn the material. I think he takes that into consideration when grading.

I took RELI 1001 and 1008 with Tyler and loved him!! Hes definitely one of my favorite professors so far. You have to go to class because tests are based solely on lectures. Tests are pretty tough, but hes very lenient in the end on final grades. If you show up and put in effort youll get an easy A. Definitely recommend!

Mr. Kelley is an outstanding lecturer with an amazing amount of care and respect for the topics of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. He is very reasonable with grades, and will often stray from the lectures outlined in the syllabus, but every moment I have spent in his class has 100% been worth the time and money I've put towards it. Don't skip!!

Professor Kelley was the best professor I had this semester. He was so funny and always gave great advice for students on any issues that college brings. He is willing to work with you on anything and can lift you up when youre feeling down. He is more like a prophet. Anything he says will stick with you. Take him! You will be glad you did.

Professor Kelley gave great advice. The class grades were mostly based off of attendance and participation. The class was an easy A and Professor Kelley was very encouraging and helpful. He made an effort to make relationships with his students. Overall, it was a great class.

GOAT of a professor. Super interesting lectures where he goes on tangents every other sentence but it keeps class interesting instead of a boring repetitive lecture. He is super knowledgable about what he talks about and loves to hear your questions and opinions

Tyler was my TA for RELI1003 and was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He was mainly there to help us in a semester long project, but ended up giving a few lectures too. He gives great feedback and is willing to help with anything. He knows so much about religion and it really shines through in his lectures. Really great teacher.

Professor Kelley is one of the smartest people I have ever met. Although this class goes more in depth than a regular RELI1001 class, if you are genuinely interested in the subject, take. this. class. I have learned more in this class than 99% of my other classes. Attendance is not required but a MUST! No class material can be found online

Dr. Kelley's lectures are extremely engaging and often pretty funny. You will definitely not get bored in class; he can go from talking about sheep liver one minute to why the American education system is flawed the next. Also, if you show up to class, take good notes, and turn in reflection papers, getting an A isn't too hard to achieve.

Attendance is mandatory! If you go to the lectures and listen/take notes, you will do well in the class. He can sometimes go off on tangents during his lectures, but that is because of his genuine passion for the subject. I would highly recommend this class to anyone; the professor is kind/fair, and the material is informative and important.

He is extremely knowledgeable and obviously cares a lot about teaching, which makes this class very interesting. I learned so much. His tests were difficult and the expectations about how he graded them were not clear. He is a great teacher but the class was a little more difficult than it needed to be.

Dr. Kelley's lectures are very engaging and interesting. However, there's no class content besides the lectures. There are daily readings, but you can get away with not reading them and I didn't find them very helpful. Do not skip and go to office hours. The tests are hard, but if you take good notes and work hard to memorize them, you'll be fine.

BRILLIANT professor and I would recommend this course to all. However, I studied more for this than any class, felt confident on material, but still somehow ended with a B. Take lots of notes and make sure you know it ALL. Disappointed in the structure of this class because of how much I enjoyed and truly understood the content.

Really good lectures, everything he says is interesting and engaging. Would be great if it weren't for the fact you have to remember every miniscule detail he says for the tests. No material posted on ELC to help study, everything on tests straight from the lecture and questions are very specific. Cool guy but class is harder than it should be.

Professor gives semester-long Bible and Quran readings, I have heard that his small group classes are much worse than his big classes, which is what I'm in. Tests are easy for the most part but beware of reading and the reading log that goes along with it.

He's incredibly passionate about the topics and makes the lectures very insightful, but doesn't post online, so attendance is a must. There are daily readings you have to stay on top of, but he goes into great depth with them during class. He's careful and deliberate with his words, and he's extremely kind and thoughtful when answering questions.

Overall great professor! He gives great lectures in his own way but doesn't post his notes so attendance is mandatory. He does quizzes every week and has 3 exams overall. Besides that, he teaches in a 3000 class way, so it makes you better prepared for his exams! But best teacher for Religion 1001!

Amazing professor who is very passionate about teaching and funny. Participation/class attendance is important! The lectures can be tangenty and hard to follow at first but he teaches at a 3000 level and tests at a 1000 level. Weekly quizzes are basically what's on the test. There is some date memorization but it is a history class so that tracks.

As someone who is interested in the origins and development of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, this class taught me those and so much more. Such a funny, considerate guy that is truly passionate about these topics. Takes everything from the texts. Yes, there is a lot of reading, but if you pay attention in class and take notes, you'll be fine.

Dr. Kelly is one of the best profs I've had! He's super funny and his lectures are entertaining. For his larger RELI 1001 the tests are not bad at all. There is a lot of reading but you honestly don't have to read for the tests. ATTEND THE LECTURES! Everything he tests on is taught in the lectures so go to class even though attendance is optional.

Knowledgeable & passionate in subject. SO accepting of questions & will enthusiastically answer & validate ur curiosity. Texts that were required for my class: Bible, Quran, What Everyone Needs to Know About Islam (2nd edition) (Esposito), & Basic Judaism (Steinberg). In-depth notes are needed to succeed on tests (3-4) which are 6.5/10 difficulty.

His lectures are all verbal; no notes are posted on eLc; he will write key terms & names on whiteboard. You do a reading log based on assigned readings guided by quesitions he provides. For this, you write a 5-7 sentence reflection prior to class, but luckily he grades on your effort and is just looking to see your engagement in the readings.

Definitely go to classes, he doesn't post powerpoints online and everything from the tests are based on the lectures he gives. Beware as there are lots of reading that go along with it, while they are not necessarily required to be read for the class, there is a reading log that accounts for 20% of your grade that is based off of these readings.

Dr. Kelley is awesome & genuinely cares about his students. There is no online material, so you have to go to class & take good notes. He teaches at a 3000/4000 level but the tests are basic, easy questions. For daily reading & reading log, you can get away with not actually reading- just write what you heard in class - It's completion.

While this class is definitely challenging, if you do the reading, go into office hours, and work hard, you should be fine. His class goes into a lot of detail and you need to make sure you TAKE NOTES and know all of the info because you don't know what questions he may ask on the test. He is a very understanding guy and very nice. DON'T SKIP!!!!!!

This was by far one of my favorite classes I've ever taken. Dr. Kelley is an excellent speaker and professor, so even though the class is pretty much entirely lecture-based, I found it easy to hold onto the course material. I absolutely recommend this class, and would take more of his if I could!

very nice and passionate professor. the class is very reading based and takes up a lot of time. took this as a world culture class and it was way more time consuming than it needed to be. his lectures are a lot of rambling and a lot of info so it was sometimes hard to follow. you have to read numerous chapters of various religious texts every day

Dr. Kelley was an amazing professor and his lectures were so interesting. Definitely recommend attending class because there are no power points for notes posted, but if you attend class and take good notes ending with an A is very manageable.

Professor Kelley is great!! This class was easy. Short quiz online every week. Take notes based off his lecturing in class. Have to do readings to fill in a reading log. Easy exams. Mandatory group meeting with the teacher to talk about a reading he gives you the option to pick. Great personality and very understanding. Again, an easy A.

This class is very hard and you have to be willing to put in the work but if you do, it is a fantastic class. I have learned the most from this class out of all my classes and Dr. Kelly is amazing and so passionate. To succeed in the class you have to show up to class and take very detailed notes. Hard but amazing class and teacher. Very rewarding.

I really enjoyed this class. You will need to purchase a few books, but you really just need to reference them occasionally. You will have to meet with him once for a discussion, but it is simple. Lectures were really interesting, and the class was pretty simple overall.

Tyler Kelley is SO good at his job. He's the only professor I've had at UGA who is as passionate for the subject. Lectures are unplanned, and tests are made only based on the things he covers. No boring power points, and class is truly informative.

Absolutely amazing professor. He is a fantastic lecturer and actually cares about students. He's hilarious, and it became one of my favorite classes this semester. The reading log is a lot to catch up on if you don't keep up with it, but it is the only homework in class outside of easy, 5 question quizzes every Monday. 2 MCQ Tests and the final.

Favorite professor that I've had so far. Entertaining and passionate for a subject that is pretty boring. Makes it interesting to go to class. He's old school where he uses no slides and just teaches and writes on the board, no-laptop policy. Tests aren't too bad, pay attention in class. I will say though this class isn't for everyone.

He doesn't take attendance but you're screwed if you miss the lectures because he doesn't post notes. The lectures are actually pretty entertaining, just take good notes.

Dr. Kelley is a wonderful professor! The class is very lecture heavy and he doesn't use technology so you have to show up and take notes. However he makes the lectures very entertaining and wants his students to become passionate about what he is teaching. He also does smaller group meeting where he gets to know everybody on a more personal level.

Dr. Kelley rocks! 10/10 would take again highlight of my semester. Definitely a lot of reading required, but he makes the content and lectures so interesting that the reading doesn't feel like too much work, and you can definitely get away with waiting to do the readings until you have time. He grades on the slightly tougher side according to him.

Dr. Kelley was AWESOME. I was so worried about the amount of reading, and it could get overwhelming at times, but class was discussion based, so I picked up most things I didn't catch in the reading. He is incredibly knowledgeable, super passionate, and so so so funny. We literally ended the final with a potluck.

Lots of reading and could get overwhelmed at times but he's so chill that you honestly get no stress at all whatsoever from this class. He's so funny and was the best way to start off my day (first class of the day). He makes religion so interesting and you can tell he's super passionate about his career.

Take this class online in a may-mester. Daily homework was graded for completion, exams we're super chill. Just take it.

Listen, Tyler Kelley is a legit teacher. He is a genius, his lectures are enjoyable, and he makes you THINK. I haven't had a teacher at uga who pushed students to think as much as Tyler. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot of reading and he grades his tests a little hard, and the other 1001 teachers are definitely EASIER, but he is BETTER.

Dr. Kelley may be my favorite professor ever. He is extremely knowledgably and passionate about the subject and opened my mind to the religion. The class focuses on history and requires lots of reading, but his lectures were so interesting they are hard to miss. Not to mention he is extremely funny. 10/10 I would recommend this class to anyone.
