A great teacher; patient, clear and fair. He is good looking too.
His handwriting is horrible (on the board), touches the topic of discussion but not always clear. HW is a must and is all done online therefore you have to pay $50 for the online access code, just to do his homework...
I'm currently taking Micro-Economics with Dr. Prante. There are 3 Midterms and he drops the lowest grade. Homework is done online and quizzes are given in class. He drops the lowest homework/quiz grade. He seems pretty passionate about Econ. I also think he's really cute lol. :)
Prante is a good professor for Economics 1, and a good professor to take if you want to try Econ. You have 3 exams and a final, and your exam with the worst score is not counted. The tests are easy, as long as you read the chapter. You have to do the homework online, so have access to a computer. Going to lectures would be a good idea.
He is the best Econ. professor at LAVC!!
This professor is pretty good. Class is easy if you read the book and pay attention in class. He is helpful if your not clear on the subject. Test can be a little hard, but over all not bad.
A good Economics teacher to be sure, though his grasp of Economic History is horribly deficient. Offers some homework, is a fair grader, and is helpful outside of class as well. Has a tendency to pause a lot when lecturing, so depending on your tolerance, it can get annoying very fast. And read the book, cause his quizzes are very technical.
The best economics professor at LAVC! TAKE HIS CLASS!
hard class if you dont study. 3 quiz 3 exam + final. his tests are hard ...
I thought Professor Prante was very good, especially in comparison to my Econ1 teacher. Like most classes, if you pay attention, read the book, & study then you should do well. I appreciate that he finds opportunities to relate our lessons to everyday things and invites open discussions. I would definitely take another of his classes.
He is an okay teacher. His lectures are confusing sometimes which makes it hard to study. They are not well-structured and the quizes and tests are based on them.
Overall, a nice teacher. His tests were confusing sometimes, and he had to double check and change the answers. That was annoying, but the class was not that hard.
Amicable
Loved this professor! My econ 1 teacher sucked so I was worried going into econ 2 but he made a really hard subject easy to understand. Tests weren't easy but they weren't difficult either. Hw was online and it was super easy! If you take good notes then you'll pass the class.
He is great. Excellent professor. I took him for Econ 2, the subject was not easy but the professor always ready to help. Even if he is doing something else, he will stop and try to help you understand the material. Very humble but serious.
AWESOME PROFESSOR! Honestly cant wait to take him for Econ 2 again! He explains the subject to you amazingly and is so helpful and flexible with his students. 3 tests 1 final, drops the lowest test score. Easy and helpful hw that is done online, HELPS YOU EARN POINTS! Several quizzes (drops lowest). Go to class, TAKE NOTES, read a bit, YOURE SET!
1st For the student who said his handwriting is bad,TAKE NOTES!DO NOT COPY!YOU are in college for God’s sake!I liked this class a lot,and I’m amazed of how much I learned in the past couple of months. He is very kind, fair and overall the exams are not hard if you read the book carefully b4 class.Ask Qs in class if you are unclear about topic
First and foremost, this teacher is absurdly good looking. How has this not yet been mentioned... Also, the class is pretty easy. I learned the tests are based almost entirely on in-class notes with only a few questions from the book. So attendance is necessary. I actually got better grades near the end when I stopped reading the book all together.
Prante is awesome! Interesting class. Take good notes, lots of test questions come lectures.. He's cute too!
He is very handsome and very nice person. Better to attend his lectures, because a lot of questions come from notes. He discuses Economic topics that appears on news. A lot of work to do-3 midterms,3 quizzes,5 online-homework, Final, but it's doable. He drops lowest for quiz and midterm, chance to earn some bonus points. Overall GREAT PROFESSOR!
Great Professor. Take notes, attend the class,do homework and you'll be ok. Quizzes are very helpful, they are right before midterms and give you idea what to study more for midterm. 3 quizzes, 3 midterms, but he drops lowest ones. He is one of the best. Highly Recommended!!!
He is very helpful and patient. His lectures are very interesting. it does not hurt that he is cute.
He is a really great professor. Not too much hw and all of it is online. He makes everything so clear that its easy to understand. His tests are pretty easy you just need to study. He is also very very handsome so its a good motivator to go to class so you can see that face lol
Amazing instructor. He encourages us to come to him with any questions we may have. After the midterms, he goes over the answers which I found helpful to gather the correct answers. And plus, he's the best looking professor I have ever laid eyes on
Tests are very confusing. I don't recommend him, he doesn't know how to teach.
Great teacher and overall great person. He's not a high school teacher, so his class isn't about effort, its about the true understanding of the nature of economics. He's great at explaining and measuring your level of understanding. Doesn't hurt that he has the face of an angel either 0:)
Suggestions if taking: 1. Read the text! (First class I HAD to read or fall behiend) 2. Study for the practice exams, almost identical to mid terms. 3. Ask questions during lecture (He is a kind teacher and will take steps to explain in a different way) 4. UNDERSTAND THE FORMULAS (MOST IMPORTAINT SUGGESTION)
I highly recommend taking this class with him since he is great at explaining the material and he prepares the class for the midterms. Excellent class.
Most attractive professor at LAVC hands down. That being said, tests are really long and hard.
He really knows what he's talking about, but unfortunately people new to economics have no idea what he's talking about. It's like listening to someone talk about their favorite tv show and you don't know the characters, storyline, etc. Homework is sometimes due before he even explains a chapter where there are formulas to know.
One of the best Professors, I will respect him forever for every thing i learnt in his class.
He's a really good professor. he explains and define everything really clearly; its at the point to where you actually don't need the book, but it helps. Accessibleapproachable. A few test and cumulative final, they are reasonable and based mostly on the notes. The homework SUCKS though; its online and difficult. He does drop your 2 lowest scores.
His notes and teaching style makes it really clear. However, his test sometimes can be very tricky. For example, the final didn't look too much like the notes, so I know I didn't do that great even though I studied hard; it cost me an A. Besides the test, he's cool. Online homework and drops your two lowest scores. Plenty of test.
Your grade is based on 3 midterms which are 100 points each(he drops the lowest), 3 quizzes and 8 homework assignments worth 10 points each (he drops the lowest of either quiz or hw) and one final worth 100 points. It is easy to do well in his class because he lectures you on everything you need to know. NO SURPRISES. Go to class & get your A.
Would get confused by his own explanation that he would push it off.. Not clear, not helpful, did not explain the answer to my questions fully from the test that i got wrong because he could not explain why B vs D was not a correct answer as well. He had to change some answers, give extra points to students as we caught mistakes in his test. Warned
I had a great experience with Prante. One of the best teachers I took at a jc,very passionate about his work, respectable, and clear. Definitely cares about his students and does not have favoritism. He gives each student the respect and takes time to make sure all concerns are addressed. I took him last semester and plan on taking him for Econ2
Superb! The best professor I have ever had.
Such a nice professor!!!
He gives lectures everyday in class. Nothing difficult or confusing just write what he writes on the board. Then for the tests just study the notes and you'll get an A. The HW is online once a week its easy but annoying. Overall easy professor who is willing to explain things over again.
Great guy. Love his lectures and the discussions. Tests are reasonable... however there is a bit of worldplay in the questions. I never really agreed with trickworldplay questions on exams. Sapling HW's are a pain, but overall helpful. Prante is one of the best lecturers and professors at LAVC. Highly recommended. PDF of book is online free too!
Econ is a pretty boring subject but this professor is really nice. He is young and lively not like the older professors who just sit and lecture. The test are hard, even though he doesn't push it, make sure you read the chapters or you will not do well on the test. I highly reccomend him.
First off I think he is really handsome, it was really distracting during the class and test. Besides that he gives you more than enough time to do homework. Also he let's you know what is going to be on the test and quizzes(which are really clear). He throws no curve balls. Also he reads his notes out loud and writes them big enough .
Professor Prante is one of the most amazing prof ive had in LAVC. I had him for econ1 last fall and took him again for econ2 this spring. Hw r online and can be little boring but he gives u two weeks for each ones. Test and quizzes are from his notes. I didnt buy the book, and passed his class with a B. I'd Deff recommend him. Makes economics fun.
Prof. Prante is very good at Economics. He made it easy to understand and would answer any question to the best of his knowledge. I had struggled with understanding Econ 1 but Prof. Prante made Econ 2 much easier to understand.
I have never had such a clear & specific professor like Prof. Prante. I barely understood Econ1 with a former professor, but Prante made Econ2 interesting and understandable to learn. I highly recommend taking his lectures & not just because he is handsome. Tip: Study & Compare textbook and class notes for further comprehension.
Great professor. Writes down everything you need to know for the test on the board. Literally just go home and read your notes before the test and get your A. Easy class and hes not boring to listen too. Only thing the HW is a pain but he didn't make the program and it gives you multiple attempts so you should get an A every time. Drops lowest test
Professor Prante has been one of my favorite professors. He's a very chill professor and his class is not difficult at all. His exams are LITERALLY the same as his notes. Just study your notes! HW is online &isn't difficult either. He's not an annoying professor thats on your back 24/7. If u show up, take notes& study you'll pass. P.S. he's so cute
After taking both Econ 1/2, I can say Valley College is blessed to have Prante. He provides a concise, straightforward, and structured study that focuses on the subject. To add, he blends a perfect dichotomy of lecture and discussion with the discussions rarely go off into a tangent. Class consists of 3-5 quizzes, mid-term, final, and online HW.
Very straightforward lecture, note, exam class. If that's for you, it's one of the easier classes you can take. A lot of online homework though, and it's more difficult than what we go over in class. Professor provides real world examples and economic news. He offers some extra credit, Like +1 e.c. q on each exam. Drops lowest exam and quiz.
Professer Prante is a good teacher, This was my hardest class but he drops your lowest test and homework. there aren't a lot of points possible so the little hw you have make it count. He's clear and helpful not to mention just a chill teacher all around. I think he's one of the best econ teachers at valley and is always there for you.
Prante is a very straightforward, easygoing professor. Come to class, take notes (because a majority of his tests cover what's written on the board during lectures), and you will do fine on his quizzes and tests. Overall, I thought he was really good... He makes econ a lot easier to understand than most professors.
Hes a good professor. I thought I would get a B in the class but I ended up with an A. He is very passionate about economics and is willing to help when you ask. His tests are based off the lectures.
Took him last year. I'm pretty bright and even accounting majors were barely passing. DO NOT TAKE!
Great professor! He knows the subject, and explains difficult concepts in simple terms. You need to take notes, and pay attention to some of the small details.
If you want to understand Econ Dr. Prante is the guy to explain it. His lecture is very clear and he makes complicated concepts very understandable. His tests are hard but VERY fair. You need to show up for class and read the chapters in the book for an A. If you just want to pass you get by on the lecture alone.
Such a wonderful teacher. Econ can be a difficult subject but his teaching method is on point. Homework is online and can be tricky - all multiple choice. I never opened the book. Take clear notes of everything he writes on the board and remember any random facts he gives. The tests are straight forward and come straight from the notes.
Great Professor. Made me like Econ. Easy class overall, fair grader, chill teacher.
Terrible professor. He goes over things in class and then asks you completely different things regarding the chapters. I literally had to read every chapter from first to last page just to understand some things. Tests are VERY trick and hard at that. He has a good review because of all the girls that think he is attractive. Nice guy, but beware!
It was a delight to have had Professor Prante as my instructor. There're three midterms and a final exam. Pretest before every midterm, which are exactly what you'll see on the them ,all multiple choice, 1 credit question @ end of every test, midterm, and final. Lectures are interesting and need to log on website for homework, not much. Take him!
Professor Prante is one of the best Econ professors you will ever take. He is caring, he is nice, he knows his material. He is always willing to work out with his students. This is a professor with a good heart. There will be a lot of assignments, quizzes, and tests; however, if you study; you should have no problem with them. Great professor!
I took him last Fall online and taking him again for Econ 2 this spring in person. It was pretty tough overall. The online hw is very difficult and have limited attempts. His tests r very hard too. He is a nice guy and good professor, but this class is definitely not an easy A. It's not recommended online unless you can teach yourself.
I took Econ 1 and Econ 2 with him and he is a great professor. Take good notes and read the chapter as you are doing the online homework, you will get an A.
He is a GREAT Econ prof. His lectures cover the material PERFECTLY however you MUST go to class and take thorough notes on EVERYTHING he writes on the board. The way he explains Econ with real life examples makes it easy to understand and grasp. He really cares about his students n takes the time to make sure you understand it. bonus hes soo cute
THE QUIZZ WERE VERY HARD
Took this professor in the winter after I dropped econ 002 in the fall. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. Exams are based on lectures and a bit on textbook readings but I never read or bought the book and still passed.
Took him online. He was very nice and helpful., however this was not an easy class. There was a total of 10 tests worth 30 points each, two midterms 75 questions each, and a final with 100 questions. Lots of tests so be prepared to read the book and teach yourself the material. His class was harder than reviews. I guess online it must be different
Best professor at Valley!! His lectures are very clear and informative. Take notes and read the book if you want a good grade. 3 tests plus the final, a few quizzes, and about 5 hw. Hw is much harder than the tests. Drops lowest test and hw score, almost no extra credit. Rented the book for $12
The class is clear-cut. There is nothing hidden. You show up, take some notes, do the homework, and study for the tests and it is an A. I loved how professor Prante set up his class. Would definitely recommend.
Prof Prante is nice. There is a lot of homework and some is hard. i went into his office a few times for help and he was always willing to help out. if you get the homework done, the test are easy. its very similar. never used the book only class notes. 3 test + final. overall easy if you do take notes & do homework.
His online class is pretty much straight to the point. It is organized the same every week-- homework, quizzes, test. The only thing I did not like was the sapling learning program used for homework. The program made homework very difficult and a real dread to complete. Other than that, I am down to take his online class again for ECON 002.
His lecture's and videos wrap everything up nicely, with more than enough detail to clear confusions. I do recommend reading though, as it will help a lot with the homework. Super nice!
Took the 8 wk online sec. due to my schedule. Knew going in that it would require quite an amount of effort since you're essentially teaching yourself. However, Prof. Prante did provide short video lectures, practice probs, and feedback. Few disc. posts. and each chapter there is hw/quiz, 1 midterm and a final. Discipline is key for online class !
Amazing professor and an amazing class, would definitely recommend him to anyone because he truly knows what he's doing! Knows his material and is always willing to help his students!
The quizzes and exams based on the lectures of Professor in class. If you have good notes, do all assignment online, you will easy to pass this class. I took Econ 1 & 2 with Professor Prante and got both A grade, although English is my second language. The knowledge is very useful for you to transfer to university in future.
Best econ professor at LAVC. Just go to class, write down the notes he lectures on, and study those for the exams. There were 3 quizzes(M/C) and 5 homework assignments on Sapling, each worth 10 points. He drops your lowest 10pt assignment. There are 3 midterms(M/C) and he drops your lowest score. One comprehensive final (M/C).
I have taken this professor for both Econ 1 and 2. If I could Id take him for many more classes. He explains very thoroughly. Its not mandatory to come to class but to get an A you need to come. Amazing professor! Take him!!
Prante is very good at explaining the material that will be on quizes &tests, since some of the questions come from the book it helps to read the chapters. He also drops your lowest test score(: you can always ask for help on the hw, there is no extra credit but there is bonus questions at the end of tests, overall I would definately take again.
BEST PROF IN VALLEY! Very caring and makes econ unbelievably understandable. HW is MUCH harder than tests. Before each test, he has a 10pt quiz that has almost the same questions. Amazing professor, amazing lectures! Highly recommend!
This was my first college level Econ class and it was truly a pleasure to take it with Prof Prante. He is very knowledgeable, helpful, and all around a very nice person. I had absolutely no knowledge of economics before this class so it was very interesting to learn about it. Overall it was a great experience, I highly recommend him.
I had Prante for econ 2 and econ 10. Was glad I took econ 10 with him. He is a great professor. Take good notes in class and you probably wont need the book. The econ 10 class is better if you take econ 1 and 2 before. He also shows current events and connects it to lectures. The class was overall enjoyable, show up on time so you dont miss out
Winter course. 5 weeks. The textbook would probably have given me the A, but I pulled off a "B" with minimal effort - based all my studying off lecture notes and what was absorbed through active listening. Solid lectures. Midterms are much harder than the final. The software you do the homework on is a bug sometimes. I don't really care for it.
Prof dont want help students what you got on the test its your final grade homework doesnt matter so much lectures are heavy hard to memorize everything test is hard asf if on the test he is always walking around that makes people nervous he like to look on everything what you doing in his class boring class dont recommend this prof
Good professor. I like that he does answer his emails and helps with the most he can. His class is also very well organized.
Took Econ 1 online for SUMMER. 5 weeks. Homework is doable and and test and midterms reflect a lot on the homework so do the homework and read the book and you will be fine. Got and A but expected a B. Love this professor.
Prante is really good at explaining econ and tries his best to simplify the topics so that anyone could understand. Pay attention, take notes, and ask questions. I was the one that asked even the dumbest questions so that I could understand what was going on and because of this I got an A without even touching the book. Taking again for econ 2.
I took Econ1 with Prante online. His classwork was straight forward not much work and the questions on his tests and quizzes were honestly not that bad. He offers a few lectures on YouTube which were helpful. I only contacted him once with a question, but he responded super fast and explained the answer and material very well. Definitely recommend!
Prof Prante is a great teacher and so patient. In order to understand the material you really have to ask questions and read the book after class to really understand. Understand 100% the law of demand & law of supply because that's a foundation to everything else. LAVC is extremely fortunate to have him.
Took the online class. Everything is nicely organized. You are graded by chapter quizzes, hw, midterms and a final. He posted short videos for each chapter but the quality was not that good. Quizzes were okay, some were harder than others. Ch(egg) will be a necessary resource to utilize.
I really enjoyed Prof. Prante's class. Economics isn't my strong suit, but his lectures & incorporated videos are really helpful. He's helpful outside of the classroom and is very passionate about economics. As long as you complete the homeworks, show up for tests and quizzes, and show your interest in the course, you'll do well. Highly recommend.
One of the most organized professors Ive had. Lectures every session but they always feel like a breeze. He allows for as many questions you have and provides a steady pace for students to be on the same page. Textbook required but not used so save your money. Copy his notes on the board to study for his exams and you will pass. Slow grader though
Prof Prante is a great professor. He makes economics understandable and relatable. He explains the basic concepts and builds on them at a comfortable pace. The textbook he uses is the best one I have had to date. Really well written, clear, and concise. Prof Prante cares about his class and will help you if things get rough.
One of the most organized and best classes I've taken! I read the textbook thoroughly and took good notes and it made the quizzes and exams fairly easy. I found the midterms and final significantly easier than the homework and chapter quizzes. Professor Prante made sure the class understood all of the material and his YouTube videos were helpful!
Lectures were insightful & gave me a new perspective to American history that I didn't know before. I saw how important the Civil War was and understood The Great Depression. So much history that explains why the world is the way it is today. Prof Prante was always patient &gave clear explanations. Not boring at all. The econ was easy to understand
Avoid this class completely online. There are no lectures just short videos. Hard homework and lots of reading. The quizes are not fair in my opinion, you get 35 min to do 30 questions and he also uses proctorio. Exams are 60 questions with 65 min. Very hard when you don't have lectures or notes. This class would be easier with actual lectures.
Avoid his online class. Im not huge on the self paced design of it. I guess I didn't realize what type of course it was when I first enrolled. He only gives a few pre-recorded lectures about the main ideas of the chapters. Tests are difficult and, in my opinion, you're not given enough time to answer the questions.
I had the pleasure of taking Professor Prante for ECON 010 in the second 8 weeks of the Fall 2020 semester. I watched his lectures before reading the week's book chapter, which really helped me with not only understanding the lesson but also passing the quizzes. He wants you to succeed, and grading is fair and balanced. Read to pass the class!
Fall '20- If you're someone who has questions you will wait WEEKS for a response to an email. On your tests make sure to check your answers that were marked wrong...1 in every 2-3 tests had marked multiple questions wrong, even though the answer was correct. I always emailed the Prof., he changed my score but doubtful he checked all other students
Professor Prante is great! I never thought I would enjoy economics and I think so much of that is due to Prof Prante. He engages with the class and makes concepts understandable and relatable. I'm even taking Econ 10 in the Spring because his classes are so much fun!
such a good professor! im planning on taking another one of his classes just for the extra units. his lectures are well organized and easy to follow/look back at when you need to. He really cares about his students. Few assignments and exams. Overall one of my favorite professors.
I took this class with Professor Prante and I couldn't be more happy to finally be done with it. He is very heavily against cheating as expected but more than other professors. He proctors exams and even chapter QUIZZES. He is so against plagiarism yet I found all the answers to his questions in homework assignments, quizzes, and tests in quizlet.
This was my 3rd class with Professor Prante and if he taught more I would take them. He is an excellent professor that makes economic ideas interesting and easy to understand. He is NOT one of those professors that tries to mess with students and ask trick questions etc. Not a ton of HW. Pay attention in class and the tests will be straightforward.
Took him for Econ 1 and 2, and I loved him. 3 midterms and 3 quizzes, lowest grade dropped for each as well as 5 HW assignments and a final. He records and posts his lectures so all you need to do is watch them before a quiz/midterm and you will ace it. He does a great job at explaining during his lectures, everything is very clear. Great prof.
I tool Prof Prante for ECON 1 and 2. He was an amazing professor. His test were mostly based on his lectures. Take good notes and you can pass easily! He is so easy to talk to as well. He made it easy to understand economics. He is also very handsome, so that helps.
He is a GREAT professor. He is fair and tests you mostly on his lectures. I didnt really use the textbook much but it came handy to refer to. Youre guaranteed to learn a lot with him.
Professor Prante was a very nice professor, and would 100% take again. He is super willing to hop on a zoom with you and answer questions, and it very clear in all of his written instructions. There was a fair variety of assignments, but I will say I didn't find any of the homework to be super helpful. He also only gave one EC option all semester.
Awesome professor. Thoroughly enjoyed taking his class. Provides real-world examples so it makes learning the material that much easier. A friend recommended taking his course and I'm glad I did. Will be following up for Econ 002 with him next semester.
He's one of the few professors that is actually engaging in online classes. He has a wealth of knowledge, and is willing to break things down. Often asks if the class has questions, and is very patient.
Professor Prante really knows how to explain everything thoroughly during lectures. It is a heavy note taking class so missing a class can really put you behind ( I recommend having a classmates phone # just in case for missed notes). Overall super interesting and not really homework heavy but grades are heavily based on the tests so study !
Tyler Prante is an amazing professor.. just do the work you will get an A. Although his quizzes were a bit challenging but his homework was easy. He had discussions but they were not done that often. Highly recommend taking his class.
He is always willing to answer questions during class, and provides office hours should you need it. Gives great real-world examples for the subject material. Exams and quizzes are based on the lectures, so don't miss class. Drops lowest exam grade. Great econ professor. Definitely recommend him.
i absolutely loved his class, it was so easy and so simple. I took his class over the winter semester (which is a month) and it was so easy. He did not overwork us, his workload was literally the perfect amount. I loved his class so much that I'm taking econ 002 with him as well. He also was really nice about late work.
Professor Prante perfectly teaches his class. There are no other words to describe it if you have any questions, he is always willing to elucidate the material, and he is overall just an amazing person.
Cool guy. Three tests and he drops the lowest. Three homeworks and three quizzes and drops the lowest one of these six. One final. Did not enjoy his lecures so much. Take good notes because the tests/quizzes/homeworks are all based off notes
I came to this class expecting to be a good course this semester, Professor Prante is nothing short of but a tough grader. lacks communication meaning does not get back to you within time when emailing. When it comes to lectures it is very fast paced. No extra credit offered so don't even bother asking him.
Took Econ001 during the summer. His videos are helpful, but his quizzes are exceedingly complex. You only have forty minutes for thirty problems, and you have to read the questions and answers a couple of times because some of the answers are identical except for one word, so you have to make sure you choose the correct answer. I enjoyed the class.
Even though I am majoring in accounting, this has been my favorite class. Economics is great! Prof Prante really knows what he's talking about and uses great examples! It's not an easy class. If you are committed, read, watch videos, and take good notes to get a good grade. This class took the best out of me! I will take him for Econ 2.
Prante makes this class unnecessarily difficult. He refuses to allow ANY makeups for exams (4 total) & gives no extra credit. His quizzes are basically the same size and difficulty as the exams (40ish questions) but they are each worth ONLY 3% of the final grade. This class was INFURIATING. Take another professor for econ. No feedback for anything.
The textbook was easy to find online. There are 10 chapters. Each chapter is about 12-20 pages long. He provides videos to help you understand the topic or math, if there is any. For every chapter there are about 14-20 textbooks question. Each chapter has a quiz of 30 questions and there were 2 midterms plus the final. He had office hours everyday.
Tough grader follow everything per page on the textbook. Doesn't let people ask questions during lecture just moves on quickly unless your one of his favorite students. I should all the time to class barely pass
ive taken econ1,2 & 010 with Prante. hands down the best teacher i've had! tests & quizzes are based on reading & lectures so GO TO CLASS & stay on top of your reading! he always says what you will be tested on & emphasizes these points during lectures. participation is important if you want to understand, so treat the class like a discussion.
Took ECON101 over a 5 week summer course and there was tons of work. Focus on tests and quizzes, huge part of grade. Not an easy class, if you don't put in much effort you won't pass. Class has final, 2 midterms, and bunch of tests. He has office hours few times a week I believe and is always there to help. Good overall class but hard.
Took Prof Prante's 8 week Econ 002 course. One quiz, discussion, and a set of homework problems assigned each week, all of which are taught in the free textbook and lectures. Homework problems are done on pen and paper and submitted via picture. No papers or essays. Learned a lot in this lass without a crazy workload and Prof Prante is a great guy!
The course was challenging, but Prof. Prante's videos and study resources like unstuck ai made it manageable. Consistent effort and engagement with the material is key to success in this class.
Online course for Econ 001. Super nice professor and great lecture videos provided! The platform we use for homework is not great though. I think I would avoid taking any class again that uses Achieve Macmillan. This class is a little difficult as it is and is my lowest grade out of all the ones I'm taking. Great communication and grades quickly.
Prante is a great professor. His grades are 90% based on tests, but as long as you take good notes and pay attention during lectures, you should be fine.
Dr. Prante is intelligent, friendly and easy to understand. Attend lecture and take notes while there! Drops the lowest exam, but don't slack and make sure to study. Answers student questions during lectures well and teaches Economics and Economic History in an accessible way. Had him for four classes and Valley College is lucky to have him.
