Most fun and easiest class I have had at Georgia Southern. This guy is so laid back and gives you multiple oppurtunities to make up work. Speeches are straight forward and pretty much if you do it you get an A. No book tests or anything like that. Take this guy if you want a pretty much guaranteed A.
EASY EASY EASY! I did my speeches the day BEFORE they were due and still got an A. And I didnt put much effort into them. This guy is laid back and easy going. Most calm and easiest to talk to teacher ive had at GSU. Take him and YOU ARE GUARANTEED AN A unless you just dont go then thats your problem for missing class. Easy guy, I promise!! EASY A!
I loved taking this class and if i could take it again I would. It was an easy class, but it still help and taught me things. All we do are a set nuber of speeches and the final and midtern were matching vocbulary words. As long as you do the work and go to class, tis an easy A!
I loved this class, and I would take it again. It really was a lot of fun, and I actually learned in this class. I didn't think it was totally easy, but I thought if you did the speeches and showed up to class fairly often, then you would get a good grade. I got an A. He is so laid back, it made me want to learn.
This professor is so cool! I mean, he is tough on attendance and preaches.."don't cheat or you will fail" but everyone I know made an A without cheating. You don't have to becuase he is so cool. After taking this class I wanted to make speeches all over campus.
Really cool teacher. Helpful, funny, and easy. Tyson made Public Speaking and easy course even if you aren't good at standing in front of other people.
best teacher to have for public speaking. the class is very easy as long as your participate and attend all classes.
he is a very good professor, i feel u shud take him bt dats if his class is even still empty.very nice guy!
Good guy. Skip out on the book, it's useless. Do each assignment, come to class on time, enjoy the conversations and videos. Great class.
He is a really good professor. I would not get the book, its online and you can find everything you need on the website! Attendence is a key, but its cool cause its an enjoyable class to go to. We watched alot of video clips, and had good discussions. Take him if there's any room left in his class!
LOVE HIM! There is NO way you can fail his class if you go and do the work. He actually doesn't like to lecture and says grades are a reflection of his teaching. Very personable, easy to talk to and get a hold of. He actually had a lot of experience in the field so it was fun to listen to. One of the best teachers I've ever had.
Awesome teacher that really cares about his students. We need more teachers like him at GSU.
Awesome teacher.
If GSU were to loose this guy, then I would say not to go there. He is the best I've had in all 4 years. I'm so glad I saved this class til the end. What an awesome way to end college. If you screw up in the class, then you are an idiot. No one better.
There is no other word that suits this guy better than awesome! He's the coolest guy you'll ever meet. I'm makng this review just to give him a hot tamale bc thats his goal in life! :) 3-4 speeches all very easy, he kicks back while you speak; not the uptight stare you down kind. He wants/grades you to get an A! Kappa Sig alum. BEST PROF EVER!
AWESOME professor. A professor who knows that classes arent supposed to be hard or stressful for students, he wants you to learn. Take him
reading through these reviews one would have to asume the guy wrote most of them himself, he requested our class give him a chili pepper for hotness rating. the class was very easy, that is true, if you even have class. i would take it again, he usually looks hungover and loves to refer to going out. very touchy guy, glad to know he is married.
He is super easy. We had 3 speeches and 3 exams. Our exams only covered a small portion of the chapters. He is a really laid back good guy. The best public speaking teacher.
Good teacher. Good class. Doesn't take that much. He doesn't complicate it. I'd tell anyone to take the class, but tests aren't that easy.
Amazing professor that provides an excellent critique of your work in class. He begins with basics and lets you into the world of video production quickly with three projects due in the semester. Keep ahead of your due dates and the class is a breeze with good subject material.
Really nice, down to earth, reasonable guy. Went to school at GSU so he knows that life exists outside of class. No homework besides studying, but the only tests are the Midterm and Final and those are easy. Class discussions, attendance, and current events quizzes are the other parts of your grade, all easy. Take him!
favorite teacher thus far! class is mainly ran on what we've seen in the news and how we feel on certain topics. Test are the exact same on the study guide, don't really need the book at all. Make sure you talk in class and you'll get an A.
Amazing!!!
Awesome professor. I would be really curious if anyone ever failed this class, and if so, how?
Professor Davis was awesome. He's a very reasonable grader and he really just wants you to enjoy the class. The tests are pretty easy as long as you study what he tells you to. Definitely recommend!
Tyson is really one of the best communication professors. He does a Good job of understanding how hectic college can be. Test are straight from the study guide. Lectures are not mandatory, but you want to go to class because he makes learning enjoyable. Definitely recommend taking his course! He works with you, and wants everyone to be successful.
Took him for intro to journalism and media & society and he's hands down the best teacher for the 2 classes! Super helpful and will not let you fail unless you just show you don't care at all. He's super flexible. No outside homework. Test are TF and multiple choice, about 20 questions. Attendance only matters after the 6th skip, TAKE HIM!!
My biggest mistake when taking this class was not getting the book, YOU NEED IT FOR TESTS! He doesn't really teach from it during class, so it is mainly up to you to learn the book's material outside of class. Lectures are fun and interesting, but not really tested over. I HIGHLY recommend this class and Tyson!
He's an extremely laid back teacher, and his lectures are interesting and invites discussion. Get the book! You'll need it for the tests- the study guides for the tests are extremely clear!
Tyson Davis was great! I had him for Media and Society but got a B. Could have easily received an A if i put more effort and studied a little more. His lectures are interesting and he doesn't really care what you do. You need the book to pass the tests though. He gives you study guides and if you go by it you'll be fine. Highly recommend.
Day to day the class was fairly interesting and easy. Only grades in the class are 4 tests. I read the book and did the study guide, and still made a C on every test and a C in the class. I even went to his office hours and TAs but neither were helpful. Would not take him again.
All you do in media class is watch dumb videos and listen to how others feel about media on society. He barely talks about material in class. Its up to you to read the book and know the material. When there are quizzes though they're online so you can try and google the answers but goodluck!
I have him for Media and Society. All material for that class is self-taught from the textbook. He mostly rants about random topics and shows us videos in class, and very rarely covers any material that shows up on the tests. It's an easy A, but the class offers no challenge whatsoever. He's interesting, but he needs to stay focused on curriculum.
Tyson is a good guy. This class is super easy. He gives a lot of extra credit and curves tests a lot. He has an attendance policy, but it's easy for someone else to sign you in. This class requires little effort. For tests I would just read and do the questions over the chapters on connect (quizzes and sometimes tests on connect). Easy GPA booster.
This professor responds to people who care. If you're passionate he'll help you out. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Mr. Davis is by far the best teacher I had. He's really awesome and cool. He's very laid back and just wants everyone to pass. His attendance isn't mandatory, but honestly the class is worth the 50 minutes. He's very laid back and easy to talk to. You would enjoy his class.
I really respect Tyson Davis as a person, he has done a lot and his stories are interesting, and the talks we have are usually interesting. That said, this class is basically that. He tells stories, other people tell stories, times up, repeat the next class. He is the nicest person I have met, just don't expect to learn much in here.
A great teacher, he provides many examples in class to help teach material. He often brings up real world examples and interesting topics; there are discussions on many topics. The book and the exam & quizzes are online and straightforward. Would take again.
This guy is a trip. He is HILARIOUS and his classes are always fun to go to. Such a fun personality. Easiest A you will ever have.
This man is hilarious! I am taking Media & Society with him right now, and he makes the class enjoyable and an easy A. Attendance: You can get people to sign you in and you're Gucci. You can have 8 absences before you get points off your grade. All of the tests except the final are online, and can be found on Google. Take Tyson if you can!!!
Professor Davis is by far one of my favorite professors. He is so funny and so nice. His lectures are straight from the test, take notes, study, and you will get an easy A. All test and quizes are online, including the textbook. If you miss class you basically miss test questions he literally tells you word for word what you need to know. 20/10
Professor Davis is great! Definitely take him because he is funny, nice, and understanding. When you show up to class you don't even have to do anything just listen plus you can miss 7 classes during the semester. All of the tests are online and you do have to buy the book/access code to take those tests but it's not too expensive. Easy A class.
Tyson Davis is cool and very interesting. I enjoy hearing his take on different issues in society, but very rarely do you actually learn much of anything in this class. I dont know if its because Im a visual learner and he doesnt use a PowerPoint or anything, but I didnt learn too much. Its an easy A though.
Basically you can miss 12 time s, but the lecture hall is so big someone can sign you in every time. Three test and final - easy as can be . All online. Lectures are super fun and enjoyable. This was a pre-req of mine but it is fun if you just need an extra credit course.
Lectures are casual and interesting and he's got a good sense of humor. He gives you all the information you need to get good grades on the exams (your only grades in the class are the exams!) Would definitely take again!
If you have to take an FYE, don't pick something like anime appreciation, take Bulloch County! Professor Davis is seriously the sweetest/funniest professor ever. He brought us food he made for us, he makes sure our homework load is low, and the projects are really fun and easy. You won't regret taking this class.
Dont get me wrong, hes a nice guy. But I didnt learn anything from this class. He talks almost the whole class about current events or random things and spends the last five minutes on test material.
Attendance is mandatory even though majority of people get someone to sign them in; all exams are online and its all on quizlet; midterm and final are in class and are all true/false but has bad wording; he asks you about current events going on everyday; loves conspiracies; he is entertaining; some extra credit; sends you notes before the test
attendance is mandatory but people sign each other in all the time. no homeworks/assignments, only tests and quizzes. You will get a 100 on every quiz because they are all online. The midterm and final are taken in class and were honestly super hard. You take notes for 5 min each week, and watch movies/talk the rest. didn't read textbook once
Tyson is a chill guy. He talks a lot, sure, but it's a bright spot in my day. I've been studying intensely but when I get into Media & Society I can just relax and listen to him and the class talking about current events, watch a video, or just study the material. Tests aren't bad, but you need to read the book to pass.
Great personality and wonderful class. Funny stories and truly engages with the class. Had a nearly 30 minute conversation outside of class one day and was great.
Tyson is a fun guy. He teaches well in a large group setting. Media & Society class was mostly talking about current events until he decided to talk about the chapter. I returned my textbook first week and never looked back. He does take attendance but most people sign others in so they can be absent.
Intro to Media Writing with Tyson was super fun. I enjoy his teaching. A few times he forgot to tell us things we needed to know about script formatting, but it never ended up affecting my grade because I just asked and he emailed everyone with new info. Best writing class to take, period.
He gives amazing lectures that tie current news to what you learn throughout the course. The tests and exams are very fair. Attendance is mandatory, but it is a very relaxed policy.
Tyson doesn't actually teach. He just sits there and talks about conspiracies or his kids. Wasn't very accessible during his office hours either. Will talk the entire class then rush through the notes in the last 5 minutes of class, so they're impossible to get. At least he emails his poorly written notes out before a test.
Tyson is a great professor, and I've been thankful to be able to have a few classes with him. His lectures are great and his personal anecdotes are hilarious. Definitely take him in as many classes as you can.
Prof Davis is a great guy, but this course is really just textbook chapters and powerpoints. He kept me entertained enough to still go to class before it switched online. If you do not read the text you will struggle to pass as the three tests are 90% of the grade and quizes make up 10%. I pulled a B after it rounded up so be extremely careful.
Tyson is a great guy. If you're already familiar with cameras or video editing, you'll do well in his class. If you aren't, he's not going to teach you. You might fail unless you're a good self-learner. I'm pretty good with cameras and editing so I wanted an easy class, and his was it. Tyson is fun in class with people on a non-covid semester.
Tyson is a bright, happy, lighthouse of a professor who always wants people to enjoy their time in class. A wonderful and empathetic professor. I had him twice and both his classes he was great. Take his class if you can!
Very nice and funny professor. He doesn't do much teaching during class, but the assignments are never something to stress over. Just do the weekly assignment and you're good to go.
Easiest college course I have ever taken.
Tyson Davis is the best professor I have ever had. He is more than a professor and has become a friend. This is my 5th class with him and I've made an A+ every time, he is willing to help and respond any way possible and the actual classwork is super easy. Tyson Davis is the only reason I am still in college.
He only docks off for attendance if you miss more than 25% of the class meeting times! This is one of the best professors I have ever had. As someone who struggles with school from ADD, this professor was very understanding of that and was willing to put in the extra work to help. Take this professor if you can!!
I would defenitly say TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!! Its super easy. Just show up and do the weekly quizzez and you'll pass. You cant miss more than 11 classes and he drops your 5 lowest quiz grades. The quizzez are online every friday and your mid term and final are in person.
He is just an amazing person all around. Is so helpful and honestly cares about his students. Would take a class with him again in a heartbeat.
Tyson is an amazing person. He's a super genuine dude that is kind, respectful, and fair. He's a great professor and I strongly recommend taking any of his classes.
Tyson is my favorite professor Ive ever had, to the point that I moved around some classes so I could take another class of his next semester. You need to do the reading/go over the slides because class time is more often used to discuss current events (in a way that relates to the material, not off topic)
Tyson Davis is hands down one of the most entertaining and best professors I have ever had. He makes things interesting and allows his students to run the discussions of topics that they find interesting. His test and quizzes are all straight from the powerpoint as well as the online MACMILLAN resources. Never met someone not a fan of his class.
Davis is an amazing professor, he really hears you and wants involvement in a student run classroom. Davis knows how to Appel to his students and makes the work load so easy.
There were only two in person tests (midterm and final) and both only had questions that were reused from the online quizzes and exams. The online quizzes were easy and came from the text and lectures. If you memorize all the answers to previous assignments, you should do well on the tests.
Tyson is awesome! He is one of the coolest, most laid-back professors I've ever had. There were two in-person tests (midterm and final) and then multiple online quizzes! Class consisted of us discussing everything from TikTok trends to current news and then we would go over a lecture PP! I would definitely take Tyson if you get the chance!!
Davis is not the professor that I wouldve wanted for this class considering Media and Society is something I love to learn about. He drones on for 90% percent of the class talking about conspiracy theories, old shows/cartoons, and some news topics on the internet spending the last 10 minutes of class actually covering content that we need to know.
Mr. Davis is an amazing professor. He responds to emails extremely quickly, and he will gladly spend a few minutes before/after class to speak to students as they please. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Davis. The quizzes are easy, and the only tests are the midterm and the final. Study your quizzes for the exams, and you'll do fine. He drops 2 quizzes.
He is super nice! Honestly, you won't miss much if you aren't there EVERY SINGLE CLASS, but his lectures are interesting, so I would go if you're interested in the content. Tests were difficult if you didn't study and take good notes, but they were all online anyways.
By far the BEST professor I've taken. Please take his classes if the chance arises! He would go over the recent media updates and discuss with students and their opinions. Workload was easy; weekly quizzes. One mid-term and one final, SUPER easy and straight from the quizzes.
His tests over the slides and what he talks about in class are pretty easy, he posts all his slides. Exams are just test questions so if you can memorize those you're good. Lectures get off topic quite often but the discussions can be interesting nonetheless. Definitely a great prof and I recommend him
Had him for Media and Society my first year at GSU, and his class was the only one I was actually hyped to go to every week. It's been his first year doing the course as a hybrid, so all of the assignments were online aside from the final. Overall, it was pretty easy and I enjoyed his lectures a lot. Great guy to have a conversation with.
Tyson is the goat. I had him for a hybrid class so we only met one day a week. His lectures were always interesting and we talked a lot about things that were happening in the real world. All of the exam questions are legit copies of all the quizzes he gives, so just memorize them and you'll pass easily.
Tyson was the GOAT. The class is hybrid so it's only once a week and the lectures can be kind of boring but the weekly quizzes we have are VERY easy as they all come directly from the ebook. The final is just copied questions from the previous quizzes so it was very easy. Tyson as a person is very down to earth and hilarious to listen to.
Very fun and enjoyable to listen to. But can be a bit difficult to follow. He'll start a slideshow and be on the first 4 slides for like 40 minutes and then do the other 15 in 20 minutes.
Best teacher ever! He makes his classes so interesting and always has the best stories to tell. Attendance matters but this was a hybrid for me so you only go once or twice a week, depending on the week. Would 100% recommend him to anyone.
He is such a funny and cool man. Teaching wise he don't go heavy into the lectures but the final was based on the quizzes like copy paste. Talk about things on social media. WORTH THE HASTE to get into the class. No homework just quizzes each week.
The quizzes are weekly but they're open book! Aside from that his class was very easy, just show up and sign the attendance sheet. His final was by far the easiest test I've taken since high school. Very interesting lectures!
