Easy and useful assignments! This professor is easy and nice and gives out tons of extra credit points just for putting forth an effort. I did this whole course without a book! I don't recommend it but it is amazing what you can google nowadays. He is so nice and an easy professor. I would definitely recommend him and would take him again.

Prof. McMillan is a very friendly professor. Plenty of Extra Credit opportunities; I missed about two weeks of assignments and was able to make up for them by EC. Assignments are reading-intensive, but easy to complete from age 16-76, if you put your effort in. Even if you don't "get it" he will reward you for your efforts.

I just finished taking his class online. A semester's course load was crammed into a summer session so I wouldn't describe it as an easy A. But if you put effort into the assignments and do the extra credit, you should do well. I have no doubt the skills I picked up will payoff in the future. He wants you to learn and succeed. Hands down the best comp teacher at Trinity River campus. Stay away from the other guys, Tyson is way better.

As long as you turn in all your assignments regardless of how good you do it will be an EASY A. I forgot to take my final exam and still made a HIGH B.

Though BCIS can be difficult and frustrating at times, McMillan is a great proffesor that will get you through it no problem.

I took his online BCIS class and passed with a final grade of 102. With all of the extra credit he provides it would have been hard to fail. He is VERY clear on each assignment and takes time to answer any questions you may have for him. A very enthusiastic teacher who loves what he does and it shows. HIGHLY recommend.

If you can't make an A in his class college probably isn't for you. Young, smart, easy to talk to/understand, doesn't pile on a bunch of homework, material is easy, and he gives TONS of extra credit. Recommended.

He was soo easy! I took this class online over the summer and it has a few assignments every few days but easy to complete. Some of the assignments take some time but simple. He's great responding back to emails and will help you as much as possible. Offers tons of extra credit. I didn't do a few of my assignments and still made an A! :]

Mr.McMillian is a teacher that loves what he does(along with some green tea). He teaches you a lot and will give you letters of recommendation if you need them. He posts all of the assignments up at the start of the semester, as well as a boatload of extra credit. A great teacher if you want to take any computer class.

I REALLY ENJOYED HIS CLASS, I LEARNED SO MUCH. THE EXTRA CREDIT IS AWESOME. I PASSED HIS CLASS WITH AN A+. IF IT WAS MANDATORY TO TAKE THIS CLASS TWICE, I WOULD TAKE THE CLASS WITH HIM ALL OVER AGAIN. GREAT TEACHER, AND HE RESPONDS TO EMAILS ALMOST INSTANTLY.

He's a pretty jolly guys, kinda weird. Overall is class is pretty much impossible not to make an A in, considering how much extra credit he gives. His assignments are way too time consuming considering how pointless the class actually is but overall pretty good prof.

As a student, I would like to clarify someone else's remarks. WOW factor is explained on the first day of class. I have taken three of Tyson's classes now. WOW factor is going above and beyond what the assignment calls for. Anyone that pays attention in his class will have an easy time, no matter what skill level they are.

Professor McMillan is an Outstanding teacher, he goes out of his way to help every student learn. If you do not get a Good Grade in his class, it is your on fault for not putting in any effort! Professor McMillan is a great teacher. He makes this class as interesting as possible. I am pretty technologically savvy yet I still learned a few things in this class! Attendance is not mandatory but is always rewarded as extra credit. He gives tons of extra credit so it is really hard to not get an A in this class!

Tyson McMillian is the Most Awesome Teacher, he bends over Backwards to teach his students. His 16 weeks on attitude, goes way above and beyond the call of duty. If you do not get a Good grade in his class it is your own fault. I had problems with my pc for the first month. He fixed my pc and then still gave enough extra credit for me to earn an A!

Professor McMillan is an awesome teacher! He gives all of your assignments up front with enough extra credit opportunities for all of those "Life Happens" events. I never could use them for that as didn't want to let him down after he was so helpful anytime I had a question. Great attitude and learned alot!

Professor McMillan is very very passionate about COSC, very concerned about the success of all students. Gives a ton of xcredit thought I was in the Twilight Zone for a moment. He is very helpful...but you do have to work really hard to keep up...I would suggest to take this class by its self .Great Job Professor.

This is one of the best teachers I ever took. Not only dose he teach you what you need to know for the class, he also teaches you the things that will help you to succeed in collage, that go well beyond what he is required to teach. He only has one rule. NO late work. If anything is late do extra credit, and there is plenty. He loves his job.

Dr. McMillan is a dedicated teacher. He will help ANYONE who is willing to put the work into the course regardless of their knowledge. I would warn the Health Information Technology folks to get ready to do some background study or be prepared to ask LOTS of questions. The terminology is foreign to them. Lots of opportunity for extra credit.

Dr. McMillan is one of the best teachers around. His main concern is what is best for the students. You can go to him for answers if you are his student or not, he only wants whats best for any student. Dr. McMillan remembers what it means to be a student and says he just want to make school as easy as possible for the students.

Just attend class and pick up a c++ reference guide to understand everything that is going on. It's a whole lot to learn but overall easy to learn programming.

Dr. McMillan is the professor you want for this class. He is extremely positive and helpful and gives you PLENTY of opportunities for success. He is the most excellent professor for online classes.

Tyson McMillian was AWESOME! I took him in the summer and made a A+. Lots of extra credit very easy. If you fail this class its cause you didn't put any effort. Book used 2x for a small project, i say don't buy the book and do ext credit to make up for assignment. VERY EASY!!!

Dr. M is a cool guy, but he is a little overkill on his website, instructions, and talking about himself. he does offer tons of extra credit, and course is easy. However, the only thing you need for this online class is Office-that is is do not waste your money on the book or codes as they are useless. You don't turn in or so assign. thru SAM

I liked Dr T but I thought his class was really boring. It is a very simple computer class and I felt that the instructions were drug out. I found myself frustrated because I was already 5 steps ahead of him. but overall nice guy and really easy A

Took Dr. T's COSC 1436 class (Intro to Programming). He was great. He chose an expensive but highly useful text book that should be a good long term reference to C++ coding. He's a great teacher that cares about the material and his students. I will take more of his classes ifwhen possible.

Lots of homework, but he works a lot of it in class and you just modify for homework. LOTS of extra credit, there is no reason to not get a 100 in this class. I would definitely take him again.

Dr. T is really a cool guy. He provides A LOT of information in his classes. In many cases he provides almost to much information, and takes a really long time in his lectures. His classes are really informative and easy. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. If you show up and do your work, you have absolutely no reason to fail.

Intelligent, fun, and very knowledgeable. Extra credit available. Responded to most emails within an hour. Will retake for all my COSC classes. Group projects are frustrating; too dependent on random partner to be competentprepared or end up doing all the work yourself in paired prog. exercises. Discussion boards felt tedious and unnecessary.

Dr. Tyson is a true replica of an excellent instructor! I rated easy A because if a student meets due dates, heshe may even skip final exams. A lot of extra credits to make up should you happen to miss assignment. He's so interesting and makes you laugh all the time. He is gentle and kind, and talks to student with respect. TAKE HIM! Dr. T is an extremely well respected professor and is one of the smartest men I have ever met. He makes his class super fun, and he is always full of energy (thanks to green tea). If you miss his class once, good luck catching up on what he did the class you missed. He works quickly but will help out as much as possible. Definitely recommend him!

His class is easy and he is always available when needed

He is a great teacher. Responds quickly to emails and grades very fast! You will have very few tests and will need the book to take them. Great class and he also has a sense of humor!! He makes class great!! Take him you will not regret it!

One exam-the final, and a final project. Partner programming about twice. Gives so much extra credit, all work done in class can be turned in for extra credit and more opportunities. Sometimes directions are unclear if you're easily confused by technical jargon - I was a complete newb, passed thanks to the extra credit. Practice makes perfect.

Dr. (yes, that's very important to him) McMillan is a great professor who offers almost 150 points worth of extra credit that is available to everyone all the time. 30 points of that extra credit are your daily in-class assignments. I feel like I didn't really learn anything in the class, but I enjoyed it and it was easy.

Possibly one of the funniest professors I have ever taken! It's almost as if Eddie Murphy is teaching the class. Overall, he is an amazing professor and is outrageously intelligent. Tons of extra credit is provided so only way to fail is to purposely try to fail... I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who needs to take a computer class.

An amazing professor.

Any COSC class will be challenging due to the fact that it is a tricky subject with a ton a material attached to it. Dr. McMillan is an amazing teacher who has a passion for what he does and he breaks down his teachings so that everyone can understand it. He is always there to help and provides a TON of extra credit.

This class was very challenging by content, Dr.T gives multiple ways to increase your grade by extra credit. He talks a lot about himself which is whatever. He really does know his stuff & replies to emails within 2 hours. This class is work but if you complete the opportunities he gives you its possible to make an A and not sweat. NO BOOK NEEDED!

I took an 8 week BCIS course for Dr. McMillan. He has a great personality and is always willing to help his students. Because this was an 8 week, the coursework was much more rigorous. He is very clear about is requirements for each assignment, so it is pretty simple. Just keep up and you will make an A!

I took an 8 week course for COSC 1436. It was a very aggressive timeline to get everything done in time, especially since I work full time. I can't imagine taking this class with many others. Good teach though C++ is not his strong suit. Plenty of opportunities to get an A, it's yours for the taking if you want it.

Professor McMillan was such a joy to have as my professor for Programming. There is A LOT of work to do in his class, with a TON of extra credit. Easily one of the best professors at TCC. Dr. T is always in a great mood and full of energy. You can tell that this man truly loves what he does, and he really does care about his students. He wants you to succeed, and he offers an absurd amount of extra credit. If you take a BCIS or COSC class with anyone else then you are really missing out.

Dr. T knows his stuff and pushes you in a way that encourages you to go out and learn. He's more than willing to help in spite of his busy schedule. He'll give you an overall goal but also gives out challenges that teach a skill that will be useful later in the class. It's a very intuitive way of learning. There's plenty of Extra Cedit too.

Too many good things to share with this teacher in the space allowed. He teaches you valuable life knowledge through assignments. Responds fast to e-mail. So smart and wants to invest in students. Strict on assignment deadlines but you do not have to take the final if you have an A. Assignments are key to success, so don't procrastinate.

I took a 1 month class, which resulted in dense homework dispersion. However, he walks you through every assignment in awesome lectures, and I actually believe I learned a lot from the class as well. Amazing professor, and wonderful atmosphere to boot! Go Mcmilliannites!

Showing up and doing the in-class assignments will get you extra points. The 'extra credit' points are easy. Can be quite a bit of items to turn in. Show up to class, do the assignments early or on time and you will pass easy.

Dr. T is so kind! I took his 8week 7pm class. So many extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. Complete a discussion post, revel textbook quiz, unit quiz (multipleattempts) and an assignment for unit1-5 but only an assignment for units6-9. U can do it! Final exam: allowed to use notes and get 4attempts. Tell him if u r struggling w time!

Dr. Tyson McMillian is an interesting character. He offers ample amounts of extra credit opportunities. He walks around the classroom and waits until someone calls on him for help. He also walks through with you the assignments for the day. Some of the assignments for the day were extra credit, the very ones he walked you through. McMillianites!

Summer8week T/Th in person- voted to have virtual thursdays and class usually ended early. Grades off point system. Assignments+ extra credit, the work is easy! Towards the end I had 100 without taking the final(hence point system) Amazing teacher, will help if u have ANY questions. Final is a powerpoint you already halfway finished prior in class.

(BCIS-3342) Jun 24 He is a very respected teacher in the Java program, and he has very clear and consistent grading criteria. He has 10 assignments due every other week, 1 major project, and ext credit if needed. He can be very helpful and very understanding when it comes to late assignments. If you need a simple A+, please take Professor McMillan.
