boring and a little hard to understand, but gives you a list of problems that will make up the test!
Dropped out. Cannot understand because he went to fast and his accent was to thick. I did come to him with my problems he "tried" to help but really did no good for me.
Hard teacher but give you the test questions before the test, a week to figure them out, and a review day to ask questions on ones you don't know. Work hard the week before the test and you can ace it. Does take attendance!
he gave his classes a test the friday of the AU vs UA game when it was here. since my class was at 3:00 in the afternoon, that really was not cool. he went out of town. hopefully you had a good cal teacher in high school.
He gives you thirty problems to study and puts ten of those thirty on the test. If you learn those thrty the test is a joke.
Easy teacher. He gives study problems before each test. Study these and you'll get an easy A. Strict attendance policy. He's very helpful and is hilarious.
I had him for Business Cal 2. Cal is not easy anyway but he gives you practice problems a week before each test and he picks directly from those sample problems. I got a B.
Easy because he gives sample questions that are the test questions
He is soooo easy, there is no possible way to make below an A if you just put forth about 2 hours of work a day or 2 before each test. He gives you the EXACT problems he puts on the test a week ahead. Just memorize the answers if you aren't good at calc.
Hard to understand, but gives you practice problems to study for the test and picks directly from them for the test questions. He's easy if you give up a few hours before the test to learn everything. Not to good at teaching, I got a tutor and got an A.
Very easy test. You get the test questions before the test. Memorize them and you will get an A.
he gives you 30 study questions and tells you that he is going to take 10 of the exact problems and put them on the test but he just uses some of the same kinds of problems. in class he is the biggest ****. very mean.
Very easy if you just memorize the example problems he hands out. He took attendence and I made an A. I heard that he wasn't going to give out any more practice problems after the spring semester though...

hard to understand but very entertaining. wouldnt reccommend taking this calss if you have never had a precal or cal course before
can not speak english, the worst teacher i have ever had incredibly hard to understand , do not take this class,if you are in it change
He cannot speak clear English and doesn't really teach. Don't take this class if you don't already know the material, because all he does is work out problems on the board for the entire class period. Strict attendance policy, and has a rude attitude.
Horrible teacher. Speaks very poor english. No longer gives out study problems as he did in past semesters. Hates the football team. Hard tests and does not care about the students. Very rude. Do not take this class under him.
Makes the easy things seems so hard. He is hard to understand.
Not terribly hard to understand, fun to watch. He will you out, but he's a little short tempered. I suggest regular visits to the GTA's office. Not the best choice for a weak math student. Stay out of classes exceeding 200 students.
Do not take this class. More than half of my class dropped out of this class because of the teacher. Horrible teacher, and just tries to fail people. He does not care how well you are doing in the class. Mean-spirited and very rude.
Holy Crap~ This prof is impossible... I took calculus last year and got an A. But i cant even do the simple algebra of this nazi loving man because he doenst even know it. He does everything the hard way... Get Out!
Horrible teacher. Cant understand him and he is a smart ass. I dropped his class mid semester due to failing. Avoid this professor at all costs.
This guy is terrible. Avoid this class if at all possible. He's not good at teaching and difficult to understand. He is no help when you talk to him. He ran off more than one hundred kids from our class and once he did that, he made the class very easy for the 40 or so students left.
Very hard class, test are impossible to pass. Cannot understand a word he says.
I thought he was a lot of fun. We called him The Extensionator.
He can't explain himself very well, but after the second test he gives a study guid out that has the exact question on the test. His class puts me asleep everyday!
very unclear, not helpful.
He tries to make things simple, but even with his sincere efforts they still come out to be hard. Lectures sound and feel like trying to learn a foreign language. This would be the class you take only if there was no other choice.
If you are not good in math - stay away! Hard class. Take Paul Kornman for pre cal if he is available. It is worth the late class time!
Horrible teacher! he cannot teach at all. If i didnt remember everything from high school i would have failed his class. He does not help at all, and tests are very hard. Avoid having him if possible
Flat out impossible. Find another teacher! Save yourself the hassle!
At the beginning of this course, I was lost. Over half of the class dropped, and then the class got extremely easy. He gave out study guides with the exact problems that are on the test, even for the final. I ended up with an A. He does have an extremely strict attendance policy.
you have to go to class, but you dont have to pay attention, he gives you about 30 review problems, and then picks 10 EXACTLY from those to put on the test, so even if you dont know what you are doing, memorize the solutions maual..I got an A and studied the night b4 every test!hes a jerk though
horrible teacher, goes to fast, and can barely understand him
AHHHHH!!!! GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN.... SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR GRADE.... GET PAUL KORNMAN!!!!
Just work your ass off for the begging and then it gets easier because he gives you everything you need after that. I got a C for the first part but ended up with an A.
You can't understand what he's saying. He just writes the problems on the board, solves them, and moves on. he doesn't interact with the class.
very unclear. not a good techer
A little hard to understand but he was an excellent teacher. He really knew what he was teaching and he would always help you if you needed it. All the questions on his exams are on the study guides that he gives us.(including final exam) very good teacher, I would take him again if I could.
He's very tough to begin with, but after the first two tests, he's pretty much "weeded out" the lazy people, and then he gives you "practice problems" for the tests. The key to making an A: stick it out the first two tests, and then do the practice problems for second two cause these are the test.
easy if you try, get a tutor and its a breeze
one of the worst professors ive ever had. doesn't care about teaching or his students. don't ever ask a question unless you like to be embarassed and like to feel stupid. he's just plain mean.
he really isn't that bad. Be careful about asking ques. b/c he will make you feel stupid. Make it through the 1st test and it is downhill from there. Memorize the study guide questions they are EXACTLY what will be on the test. And don't expect to miss class- tough attendence policy!
he isn't bad. hilarious accent. just figure out the practice problems and you'll do good on the test. it's great when he punks out stupid people.
He makes you come everyday, but he give you the exact questions that will be on the test. It's not bad at all! Learn the questions he gives you and you can make 100's on all tests!!!
He is difficult to understand. The tests are EXACTLY like the practice but the Final isnt. That threw me off. Just go to class and act like you are paying attention. get the answer manual and its easier. Although i took this in high school, it was still hard bc he doesnt explain things.
rambles on and on about irrelevant material. required attendence, and huge cumulative final. very unclear and refuses to admit his mistakes.
WOW! HUGE ASS FINAL WORTH 42% sucks. He doesnt curve and is pretty strict on the "partial credit" he gives out for problems. It is a hard class, and he isnt easy. There are other teachers out there with easier finals...but otherwise he is alright.
He is a jerk, but the class wasn't impossibly hard. The 4 tests and the final were pretty much exactly like the review problems. He doesn't scale bc "you get what you earn". And he is really strict on attendance, although you don't get any credit for coming. And don't ask questions in class!
His attendance policy is tough, but I missed way more than 3 classes and nothing happened. Memorize the practice problems or put them in your calculator. He is impossible to understand and if you ask a question he will just write the answer and not really describe how to do it.
Dont listen to them. He might be a little hard to understand at first but its not impossible. Go to class most of the time and study his review sheets and you'll be just fine.
He considers you an idiot when you walk through the door.
Dr. Albrecht is probably the rudest teacher at Auburn but if you study the review questions you can do well.
Do not take him runn...........................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I actually liked him as a math professor-even though i had a small class.
save yourself...GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!
By far the worst teacher i have ever came across. If you have the chance get outta here ASAP. He hates evveryone who comes thru the door.
The absolute worst teacher I can possibly imagine. Refuses to help anyone, Blatantly rude, miserable man. Someone asked a question and his response was: "You know, that would help you but I really just don't feel like going over that so I'm sorry." No curves, no extra credit. If at all possible, take someone else!
he's really tough. he doesn't give review sheets and no calculators. he's a rude/disturbed man. no extra credit or anything. and you'll never know what he's talking about in class. get out while you can.
yes make sure u know the review sheets and u'll do ok on the tests but he'll make ur life miserable between tests and u'll stress til ur crazy!!!
this class is pretty easy for me. i dont know why everyone is complaining. as long as you know how to do the homework and review problems youll ace the tests. i got a tutor to help me understand but math really isnt my thing. i still wouldnt run like everyone is telling you to though. i even went for help one day and he explained it for me.
this class is terrible! ive not a math person by any means but ive never flat out failed a math class, or any class, until now. the tests are hard and he sucks at teaching. even when most everyone in the class failed pretty badly on the first test he still refused to curve or give extra credit. DONT take class from this man!
I hate this man. I had to drop his class because I couldn't keep up. I also love math and he made me hate it. Do not take him seriously. Doesn't care about students by any means, no calcs, no study guides, no extra credit, has an attendence policy, can't speak english. STAY AWAY.
He is horrible, he cannot speak english, he goes over a new section each day which is entirely to fast, he does not allow the use of calculators on ANY of his tests, and his tests only have 10 questions on them on subject matter that is over atleast 2 chapters. Get out while you can!
he is the worst teacher ive ever had...does not know how to explain what he is doing. Tests only have 10 questions and no study guide or extra credit. Counts attendance and is rude to students who ask questions!!! NEVER BEEN MORE SERIOUS STAY AWAY FROM THIS JERK!
wow, yall are a bunch of babies. this class is so easy if you study the homework and practice problems in the book and at the end of the chapter. and as for the attendance policies, this is college, your parents arent paying for you to sleep all day and party all night. youre supposed to go to class so you can learn something.
I agree with the last statement that if you do your work you'll be fine. Dont wait until the day before the test to study the material. He is kind of rude, but once it get's past the time where you can drop a class, he gets nicer. PLUS, if you go to him after a test and go over the test with him he will usally always give you some added points!
the university should fire him b/c there are many other people that would love to have his job and are just as qualified. besides he is so rude and it is obvious he hates his students and teaching. the person that says we are babies and this class is easy is just a dork that has nothing else better to do than study. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
i dropped this class. he is a real prik!!!!!!
easy. just know how to do the hwk & rev problems and youll ace the tests. the gtas suck and are no help but if you go to him he'll answer your questions.
Worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Do NOT get him. He's smart but just isn't the teaching type.
The WORST teacher I've had my entire college career. His tests are horrible, and he isn't very clear when he teaches the lessons. Also, the GTAs were unhelpful.
This was an aweful class i will admit...but his policy on giving you the higher grade if you do good on the exam is awesome! i failed the first two tests then i made an A on my final and he gave me an A for the semester! it ended up not being that bad of a class! i would not reccomend him as a teacher though...hes rather hard to understand.
i was prewarned by a good friend that this class was awful and to get out asap...but i didn't. At first I would have agreed with the comments of all of you guys, but in the end yall are wrong. The GTA's were EXTREMELY helpful, but i had to make the effort and go to them. My average going into the final was a low B or a C, but i ended up with an A..
he is a little hard in the begining but he definetly got a lot easier after the drop date. i got a 64 and a 69 on his two tests before the drop date and then he started to become a lot nicer and easier so my final grade rose to an A for the semester. i suggest you stick with him.
He is the worst teacher i have ever had in my life. unhelpful, makes you feel stupid, and unwilling to work with you. Also, doesn't teach the lessons well at all, even though he is a great mathematician. He will not come down to your level. i advise anyone who has a hard time understanding math to get out asap.
Flies airplanes around the class room.
Linear Algebra. Offers no help, no extra office hours, and will not recover any material. He drew a sinking ship on the blackboard after one of our quizzes representing our class, and he did nothing to help.
GET OUT NOW!! I am making the second highest grade in Bus Cal 1, and I made a bad grade in his class. The attendance counts for NOTHING on your grade, and if you need just HALF A POINT to help your entire score go up a letter grade, he'll laugh at your face. He enjoys it.
He was helpful once he realized that half of the class did not gain much or what we needed from Advanced Mathrmatics. He gave us study guides which reflected what was on the test.
Prof. Albrecht is a honest man. (Nicht wahr?) He teaches the math as it should be : Hard but fair. Brilliant his explanations about comutative rings and groups. Great stuff! Learned, understood and (gelle? ) cool stuff! (Gruesse aus (Alten-)Essen, alter Schwede! Mach' sie nieder, die Ignoranten!) Very sincerely an old companion
Kind of unclear in the beginning, but it all came together. Dont be intimidated, the study guides are very helpful, and go to class & take notes
had him for Linear Alg. Awful teacher. Very smart, but not good at teaching it. Moves way too fast and will not go over any old material. Expects you to know everything about the class before taking it. If you show him you know it on the final though, he will give you a grade. Still, he's a jerk and bad teacher, don't take him unless u have t
Very difficult class. I hated it!! It is a weed out class though. He seems to get easier as the semester goes on. However, most everyone I know failed or made a D. Don't take him unless you have to! He is such a jerk!
You will hate him in the beginning. He seems like a horrible teacher that doesn't ever explain. However, he gets better. DO THE STUDY GUIDES, THEY ARE THE TEST. If you go to class, you get lots of bonus points. Especially if only the same few people go every time. I've earned 50 by just attending class. He will explain if you just ask.
He may seem like a jerk, but for crying out loud he gives 30 problems a week before the exam and ten of those are on the tests. With a little bit of effort, you can easily handle his crazyness and get a B in the class. The material can be very hard, but get a tutor to help you work out the problems and you should be able to get an A

He is AWFUL. This is a science course for non-science majors, so we're just there because we have to be but he makes it so difficult on you. HW questions that he doesn't provide answers for, not sitting on slides long enough for you to take notes, mandatory attendance, VERY involved labs, I had to do more for this class than my physics course.
this guy is hands down the worst teacher i have had in my entire life. i have always had A's in math and i cant even pass one of the idiots test. he is a jerk and the school needs to do itself and its students a favor and fire the prick. do yourself a favor and take anyone else
this guy is hands down the worst teacher i have had in my entire life. i have always had A's in math and i cant even pass one of the idiots test. he is a jerk and the school needs to do itself and its students a favor and fire the prick. do yourself a favor and take anyone else
Classes are very fast-paced! He's not very helpful when you have a problem
He basically tells us that we are stupid for having to take such a low math & we never should have graduated high school without having seen this stuff before. He sucks and he doesn't care if you fail which is why I don't understand why attendance is mandatory?...Whatever- my point: HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! Don't take him...
This man was ridiculous! He was absolutely no help at all to my education! Don't ask him any question or he will make you feel like an idiot! I strongly recommend never taking a class taught by Ulrich! He will ruin your life!!!
awful professor! this class is supposed to be a somewhat easy class, however the professor makes it way more difficult than it is supposed to be. He is a math teacher teaching concepts of science. He posts the slide shows online but does random clicker questions in lecture. Tests are ridiculous and his accident is terrible. Good luck if you take hi
He was ok at best. As long as you go to class, take notes, and do the homework every night you should be fine. You might have to ask for help on some stuff cuz he does thing your an idiot if you ask a question, but just try to ingore it. And he will ramble for half the class period, one day he talked for 15 minutes about the history of math.
He is so boring! And his accent is absolutely impossible to understand. He just did slideshows and most people didn't pay attention but went in case there was a clicker question. And his tests are impossible.. you need to study for a month! The only reason I got a B was because of lab. DON'T TAKE HIM!
Honors Cal II. Easiest class ever. Show up the first couple days so he knows you didn't drop the class and after that just wait on the study guides that he emails you. Spend a couple days learning (or memorizing) how to do the problems and regurgitate it on the test. 5 tests and he drops the lowest. A's on the 1st 4, no class for over a month.
He's pretty difficult to understand but there is no reason not to get an A in the class. He gives a review sheet the day before the test, and the test are exactly the same as the review sheet. He doesn't change the numbers or anything. Take him if you want an easy A but don't really care about learning.
He is not a bad teacher. He will teach according to what Auburn University asks him to. You can easily make an A in the class he gives a study guide before the test exactly like the exam. Take him if you can.
Had him for Linear Algebra and all the previous reviewers are right. He gives you the study guide and the tests are an exact copy. If you need to learn the material, he does teach the class effectively and has no problem explaining anything to ensure his students know what's going on.
Dr. Albrecht was awesome. His tests are an exact copy of the problems he gives you for the study guide. He drops your lowest test, so there is no reason for anyone to not get an A.
Good teacher. His study guides are the exact same as the test, but the problems are pretty hard and hard to memorize the solutions, so you will end up learning anyway. 5 tests and he drops the lowest one. Very fair.
Had him for concepts, he was awful. couldnt understand him. the lab teacher was amazing but he is not a good teacher at all. Made the question on test very tricky! had to take a W for the semester.
Do. Not. Take. Him. WORST TEACHER EVER. I'm in class right now slowing dying.
Very boring class but an easy class with this cat. He gives you a study sheet before the test and as long as you understand how to work it there is no excuse you don't make an A in the class. Easy peasy lemony squeezy!
His tests are a lot harder than they should be and it is pointless to attend class because he doesnt teach you anything. If you take his class be prepared to be miserable.
The final grade consists of 3 tests and the lab. Do not take concepts unless you are willing to read. A lot. Each test has barely coherent themes that require a knowledge of far more than is reasonable. Lectures are worthless. GTAs are no help. The lab is the only easy A. Test wording is atrocious. Don't take this class unless you're masochistic.
He is really hard. Like I feel bad for him because you can tell he's nice in person but his tests are so hard and I just did worse the longer I studied. To prepare us for the 7 chapter exam, he says: read the book a lot. That's 300 pages. Don't take this class. I would rather be in Biology or even Chemistry
Your final grade in this class is the sum of three exam grades and your lab grade. Attendance is not mandatory, but I would strongly suggest that you go to class. The tests are difficult; do your reading and focus on the topics that are highlighted in the power-points. The lab will help you. Go to class, it will benefit you eventually.
Take a different professor. The tests are difficult, and reading the textbook is not all that helpful. Lab helps your grade out the most. He does not respond to emails. He wants you to figure things out for yourself without much guidance. Always go to class, if you have to take this course. The lab quizzes are tedious, but straightforward.
Dr. Albrecht is a terribly difficult teacher. Only science majors have a shot at making an A in the class. You will read the book a lot and the tests are ridiculously difficult.
Worst teacher ever. Do not waste your time!!
Definitely a hard class. The lab was helpful in bringing grades up. Class isn't really mandatory because the test questions don't come from his lectures. To pass the test, you have to study the textbook REALLY WELL.
Accent is thick, classes are useless. Do not plan on learning anything in class. Read the book and study the book and you'll do fine. Assuming of course you aren't a stereotypical liberal arts student, then you're probably screwed--study hard.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR! Stay as far away as possible. His lectures are worthless. Strong accent. Tests are extremely difficult. If you want to pass, make sure you know the book word for word.
His accent doesn't seem to bad to me. It's pretty thick but very understandable. He's pretty laid back, but writes REALLY fast. Notes aren't important though.Just wait for the study guides he gives you and regurgitate it on the test. The problems are the exact same. You'll make an A if you spend a few hours on this class (total). Drops lowest test
Albrecht is one of the least helpful and most disrespectful teachers I've ever had. He'll ask the class a question and gets frustrated when nobody answers, but it's because if you're wrong he'll berate you and begin ranting about the laziness/idiocy of the class. He has study guides etc. but is a very strict grader, so it doesn't help much.
Has a thick accent but not hard to understand. Test are often tricky and confusing but he drops the lowest one. Gives extra credit for class attendance.
This is by far my worst professor. He has a very thick accent, but is still understandable for the most part. There are no study guides for the class and he doesn't have a review class session before any tests. The powerpoints he puts up during the class do not help you at all for the tests. To pass his class, you MUST read the textbook.
He is impossible. Please avoid his class. It is hard to understand him, and he does not offer any help.
Both hard to understand and miserable, Albrecht is last professor you want to take. He makes a potentially easy class extremely difficult, then announces to the class (with delight) that his class average on the last test was a 60. My first C ever. I say, RUN FOR IT!
He is difficult to understand and its impossible to sufficiently prepare for his tests. The only professor I've had that no matter how hard I studied I made no improvement.
He has a thick German accent that makes understanding anything he says near to impossible. He refuses to review what will be on tests and simply tells you to read the book. The ONLY way to survive this class is to read the textbook chapters over and over! If it all possible go for another professor!
Super hard to understand, get ready to spend all your time studying to even get a possible B
Super
So far this class has been everything the people who have commented before me have said sadly they did not tell us who the teacher was going to be if possible avoid this class
I'm German and even I don't understand him!
Dr. Albrecht is a great teacher. I am mystified as to why anyone would not be able to understand him...he has a thick German accent, but he enunciates perfectly. He generally cares about his students (if they care about the class and aren't worthless), and is more than willing to give bonus if he feels a student's abilities weren't shown in a test.
He can be difficult to understand. READ EACH CHAPTER IN THE BOOK AT LEAST TWICE!!! He says this on the syllabus and it's very true. He provides all powerpoints from class, so take notes on those as he goes over them and read and you'll easily make a B in the class.
This class involves a lot of work- reading the text is necessary for an A. But usually at least 80% of the material comes from his lectures/powerpoints. He really is a nice guy, so if you have to take his class don't fret! It's definitely doable.
Overall, this class isn't bad. Reading all these comments before taking the class scared me to death, and I thought it was going to be my hardest class. As long as you really read the book, you'll do fine! Also, print off the power points he provides and read over those to study. If you need help, go to his office hours-he's very nice!
The class is not all that bad as I thought. He can be hard to understand at times due to his German accent and is not the best help. Just make sure to read the book or get some additional help and you will be fine.
He is a really great and funny guy!! This class is not as bad as the reviews say. Talk to someone who has taken the class before and they will show you how to pass. :)
The lectures are pointless, because all of the test material is from the book, but even when you read the book three times its very difficult to still get an A. This is true because the questions are so specific and don't follow the lecture. Lab boosts your grade a good amount. I HIGHLY recommend DO NOT take this class, not an easy A.
I really don't understand why people complain so much about this class. Read the book and you'll make an A. The lectures follow along with the book as well.
go to class everyday, make sure do the webassign. It's easy :D
Probably the most pointlesseasy class I have ever taken. Literally learned nothing. Normally went for 15 minutes, signed in, then left. For his tests- find the tests (EVERYONE has them) and you will get an A+. Tests usually take about 10 minutes for all 34 questions- it's a joke, I know, but he doesn't realize it. Lab is easy also.
Amazing teacher! Go to class, do the homework, and go to his office hours and you should be fine in this class. He's very helpful, and is happy to answer any and all questions.
Attendance is mandatory. Fantastic teacher, just do your homework and the tests aren't hard at all. He pretty much just tests you to see if you know what you're doing. I would definitely take him again. But he's German so it'll take a couple of days to start understanding him.
People say that he's hard to understand, but I never had any problem understanding him. If anything, his accent and eccentricity are kind of funny. Aside from that, the lectures were boring and dull. You better read the book because most of the test questions come from there. I didn't cheat like half the class did, but I also didnt try very hard.
Super easy, all the test questions are multiple choice, some true and false. The test questions come from the end of the chapter tests which you can find online so as long as you study the multiple choice questions from those you're golden.
YOU NEED THE STUDY GUIDES they are verbatim the exams!!!! IF you have them, then the class is easy and you don't even need to go to class I made a 70 on the first exam, then once I had the study guides I never made below a 95! Find them! athletes will get them first, then people well connected to friends, make friends in the class and ask around!
This class is much harder than Calc 1 but from I can tell Albrecht is the best professor to have. His tests are straightforward and sometimes the problems come directly from the book. He also wrote the final.
He gives a lot of homework, but it's on WebAssign so it's usually easy. The tests are really good measures of what you've learned (and expect early concepts to keep coming up on future tests). If you skip class, you have to write one essay per lecture missed.
I don't understand why people complain about him, as the class is extremely easy as long as you get the old tests (which are so easy to come by). He drops your lowest test score and there isn't a comprehensive final, so there's really nothing to complain about other than attendance is mandatory, but I just did other homework while he talked.
Excused OR unexcused absences are both unexcused.. unless you want to write a long paper on what you missed. Yep. Write a paper on calculus II material that you weren't even there to hear anything about. Miss three and he fails you instantly. Even if you submit the paper, there's a change he'll deny the paper and gives you a strike anyway.
I wouldn't take him again in a large lecture class. Attendance was mandatory, & if you had one unexcused absence you either had to write a paper or have your final grade dropped a letter grade. Very thick accent. Works very fast & is hard to follow. You will have to do A LOT of independent studying. It was the only reason I ended with a good grade.
Took him for honors concepts. The only difference between honors and regular is that attendance isn't mandatory and the tests are all short answer and not multiple choice, which actually helped me. The final is not cumulative, and I didn't even have to take it because he drops the lowest test. As long as you read the book, the tests are easy.
Great professor. He cares about how capable you are before you leave his class. He does work fast and it is difficult to keep up if taking notes(and you should be taking notes). If you don't take notes or at least participate to show that you are following along he will not like you. Take notes + get to where you can do the hw without help A+.
Well, I only got an A because I had the tests and i went to lab. Get them or you'll probably get a B or C. Also, attendance is mandatory.
He was very hard to understand bc of his accent. The power points were straight from the book. His tests were hard. The lectures were long and boring.
His lectures are boring, but they come straight from the book. If you read it and study the book well, you should be fine. He gives bonus points on every test.
He's a pretty straightforward guy. Has a slight accent and is a little strict when it comes to class attendance, technology, etc. but nothing absolutely unbearable. Test are extremely straightforward, typically 1 or 2 questions from each section, but they hold a lot of weight for the class.
I really loved Dr. Albrecht's lectures, which are straight from the book so you can follow along. He has an accent but is still easy to understand and makes some pretty funny nerdy jokes that were dope. He does take attendance and will call you out for sleeping or using your cell phone. All multiple choice tests that are straight from the book.
He might as well teach in German because he zooms through lectures. However, the recitation help immensly.
Dr. Albrecht is very strict. He did end up grading the webassign at the end of the semester in a way that gave the majority of our class a 133 for a test grade. You learn most of the material in recitation and through webassign. Overall, not a terrible class
I feel upset to this class. My final exam grade is enough to get A or B but he still gives me C for total level(even I attend classes and finish homework) No extra credit and lots of homework, I do not want to take his class again.
If you have the "study guides" from the previous years, you can easily make an A with little studying. Requires attendance but easy to get around. Lectures are useless because you can't understand him and he just reiterates the book. He gives no homework. Not the nicest teacher but an easy A.
Dr. Albrecht's lectures are hard to follow and boring. If you don't read the chapters, you won't do well in the course. Luckily, there's a test bank he pulls questions from for his regular and honors classes. If you take honors, he will pull 12 short answer questions for the test. Find a test bank and you will be fine.
He is a good professor but really really boring. The lectures are long and they come straight from the book. If you have the book and read it well in advance before the test, you'll do great. Find the test bank because that is all he pulls his tests from. Don't really understand how he grades the honors tests but regular class is multiple choice.
He is German and very hard to understand. The tests have absolutely no ties to the lecture which is frustrating because attendance is mandatory.
Welcome to High School Science 101! Unfortunately, while this should be the easiest thing you do in college, every prof that teaches this class insist on making it miserable. Enjoy!
The only tools useful for this class are the testbanks that are constantly circulating around. Most of the questions are pulled directly from the test banks.
I am not a science person, and this was the course recommended. It was difficult for me. If you are in honors, the test consists of 12 short answer questions. You never know what he is going to ask. READ THE BOOK several times if you want to do well on his tests.
Requires attendance but class is useless. Sit in the back and do other work because listening to him is a waste of time. Just get a test bank (everyone has them) and memorize all of those as studying because the test comes verbatim from those.
this is the worst class i have ever taken. he tells you on the first day you have to read the book 3x &the ppts 2x to do well. i did that & got a 64. he makes the tests about things you haven't even heard of & then gets mad at everyone for doing bad. this is not an easy A. do not take this class. the tests are on quizlet though if you search.
I love Dr. Albrecht! He's really sassy and strict but he teaches really well. Definitely recommend for a class like cal II. His lectures are the perfect balance of proofs and example problems.
I would not have passed MATH 1610 without him. He was so good I enrolled in his MATH 1620 course and do not regret it at all! I would recommend to anyone taking CAL II. No matter what you level of understanding is on the material, he will help and clarify things to ensure you know it well.
He's not that great but he's not bad. He has an accent but you'll get used to it. He doesn't give extra credit and the powerpoints are definitely not enough for an A. The textbook is boring but easy. This is basically all the sciences from high school mixed together. It's not hard, mostly just brushing up on past knowledge.
Albrecht was alright. I made a 100 on the first test, 97 on the second test, and (after his teaching style changed and his lectures became whiteboards filled with paragraphs and proofs rather than examples) a 62 on the third test. Friends of mine had similar experiences. Homework is via WebAssign which is easy to complete and comes with a little EC
Overall, I liked him. He makes a lot of jokes about frats and football. He doesn't teach much during lecture - very scatter brained. I learned the most in recitation. Go to lecture, if you don't you'll have to write a paper. Tests aren't tricky, but you have to do the homework and organize your notes so you can understand them.
He's been tough and mean to students
Really bad and hated everyone
His lectures are super boring and his tests are over stuff he doesn't cover. His accent is fairly strong and I had a difficult time understanding a lot of what he said. Honestly his lectures are useless, but buy the textbook and READ IT. That is the only way you can pass his tests.
He's German and will does not care much about his students. I went into this class without taking AP Calc and have struggled more than I ever have in any other class. He teaches as if you already know the subject and flies through the material. I would try to not take his class, and if I could go back I would have definitely did a lot more percal.
If you haven't taken calculus before, don't even bother taking Albrecht. This class isn't for the faint hearted. He basically reviews calculus. Mandatory attendance or drops a letter grade. You'll get used to the accent. Very bad handwriting. Doesn't really care. Grades hard. GTA taught me more than he ever did. He'll rip engineering majors apart..
Attendance isn't required but gives extra credit once or twice throughout the semester for showing up. Lectures are straight from the book and boring. Just read the book and review his slideshow and you'll be fine. Be sure to get the test bank - most of the questions on the test come straight from that.
Very harsh and strict during class, he will call you out if you are on your phone. I got A's on the first two exams only because of the rarely given scales but failed the others. Make sure to read your notes and definitely go to class. A second absence will result in a letter grade deduction. Good luck you will need it.
Overall not a terrible class - the material isn't difficult, but the tests are. Be aware that the only way to succeed is to read the textbook! His lectures are essentially just synopses of the textbook. No attendance, but he takes a few random checks each for 10 additional points on the final exam, so it's well worth your while to go to class.
Only reason I passed this class is because of a test bank. His lectures are pointless because he basically just reads you the book. Hard to understand. Doesn't take attendance, but occasionally gives 10 bonus points if you show up. Suggests you just read the book for the final exam.
Most everything he teaches is not actually on the tests- his test are always extremely random and are very hard to study for. The lab for this class also is not beneficial and is very hard to pass or to understand the material. The lab is not very organized and has nothing to do with the lecture so it is basically just another science class.
He was a good teacher and explained things clearly despite his strong German accent. He was funny, yet very strict with attendance. I took calc 1 in high school so I was able to understand the lectures, but most people who were taking calc for the first time really struggled.
Do not take this class if you have never taken calculus before, nearly everyone who hadn't dropped this class! He prepares you well for future maths but if you did not get an A in high school calc, I recommend taking another professor & just studying with ppl taking Albrecht to save your GPA. He is a nice person, doesnt seem like it at first though
His lectures do get a bit boring (he does lecture a bit out of the textbook), but he does give some supplemental information during his lectures to help understand the material. In the honors section, our tests were short answer, so the chance to earn partial credit was helpful. If you read the chapters that the tests are covering, you'll get an A.
Our class average on our first test was in the 50's, and no curve was given. Also, attendance is mandatory. I don't recommend taking this class unless you've already taken calculus II before.
Dr. Albrecht was a difficult prof but his class is not impossible. Out of the 4 unit tests that we had, 2 of those tests had 10 point curves. This is definitely not a guarantee for other classes but he is a nice man even if he doesn't seem that way. Read the textbook, and do the practice problems (they're harder than the tests!) and you'll do fine.
I would never recommend this class with him as the teacher to anyone. I feel like he is a really nice guy outside of class, but you can tell he just hates teaching this class and makes it miserable for his students. Miserable experience and the lab is completely pointless. DO NOT take him.
No phones/laptops allowed in class. Attendance mandatory - only one unexcused absence allowed. Teaches very quickly, and for the duration of the class. Only 3 exams, homework, and the final, so if you screw one up, you're, well, screwed. Good sense of humor though, and he knows his stuff.
Dr. Albrecht is without a doubt, a very talented mathematician, but in large lectures, he seems more focused on going over the material for himself than making sure his students understand. The only benefit from his lecture was from blindly copying down as much as possible and then breaking it down in the twice weekly recitation classes with my TA.
Albrecht is very strict about certain things. After one unexcused absence, your grade drops a letter grade for each subsequent absence. Hell call people out in the middle of lecture for cell phones. Also, he makes it clear from the first day of class that he will not curve, give extra credit, or drop grades. Hes tough but fair.
Lectures are long and boring but attendance isnt required. I took the Honors section and tests were short answer questions. Read the text and hope for access to a test bank!!!
Very hard. HOWEVER, he makes the final. Says he wouldn't curve but did curve the final exam. I did very poor and needed a C to get a B but somehow still got a B. Homework is required so is attendance. You can do it, just try other teachers if you can.
Rambles a lot about things that dont relate to the exams whatsoever. Exam questions come mostly out of the textbook. Hard to understand with thick accent. Very difficult considering the class level. Would not reccomend.
First off he is super rude. He never actually teaches anything just reads the power points. If you need help dont expect him to help. He just says read the book. Also expects you to spend 7-9 hours a week on his class. Safe to say the worst teacher Ive ever had at Auburn.
Dr. Albrecht is probably a nice guy but youd never know it from his lectures. The man clearly doesnt care at all about his students and just teaches cause it gives him something to do. The lectures are confusing, and he never lets you stop writing. Its all tests and a little homework. He also doesnt curve at all... even if the avg is a 50.
Don't let all of these awful ratings scare you from taking this class. I had Dr. Albrecht last year and he curved 2/4 of our tests, and his final that he made was the same exact questions, in the same order as his practice final with the numbers changed. You should probably have taken calc before taking him but you can get through it by reading!
Great teacher, very difficult to understand because of his accent. His tests are difficult. it helps to read the chapter before his class.
HE is ridiculous. Absolutely not helpful, rude when you go to office hours, and does not care anything about your well being. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I repeat, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
A majority of your grade comes from 3 test including the final. The test are really difficult and he doesnt seem worried about low averages. He curved our last 2 test tho. I would recommend reading over the PowerPoints before class and staying ahead of textbook readings. Lab is random and unhelpful. Really nice guy but avoid him if possible
I honestly hated the class, but the prof didn't seem like a bad guy. Basically everyone failed the first test (I got a 48) but then he curved the next two. He uploaded the past tests and answers to Canvas before the final. His final consisted of 100 questions chosen from the past tests and I was able to make a Quizlet and get a 101 on the final.
If you make a B or below in this class, it's your fault. He curved the last two tests by 25 points, and let the final grade replace the first one. Super easy. The professor is a good guy.
His class his hard but he's been teaching at Auburn long enough to the final exam inside and out. You have to study hard for this class and the test are hard, but you will be more prepared for the final. If you take his MATH 1620 class be prepared to wright down everything and study hard.
Ok, here is the scoop. This professor is bad. He shows up to class, slams the textbook on the table, and starts writing. He just shows off and does not really teach. He does not respect his students - often calls people out. Do the recitation - only way I succeeded in this class. His tests are super hard but he prepares you for the final.
Dr. Albrecht teaches a lot of theory and concepts behind certain parts of the class and doesn't work out a whole lot of problems most of the time. However, you will get practice with your WebAssign homework. Pretty good teacher overall, he's goes a bit fast through topics but that's mostly due to the requirements he has to meet.
