this proffessor is very intellegent and she knows her stuff. but if u ask a question she will say something that has nothing to do with the question. her quizes are very hard but only worth 5%. The tests qre a little easier and u have to read a lot to pass.

She is a very dedicated professor.You must pay close attention in class and study! In the end you will actually learn something.This class is for those that are actually interested and she will prepare you for the real world in medical sciences.
She says she wakes up at 3 in the morning to prepare for her class but all she does in every class is talk talk talk and doesn't answer and of your questions
teaches a a very fast pace and sort of hard to understand but makes herself very accessible and willing to explain to a point of understanding.
First of all, she is not organized and in order to understand what she is saying in class you must read the textbook several times to absorb the material. Otherwise, the notes that she gives out are helpful if you can read them. Overall quality B.

AH! a real nice teacher and knows her stuff. BUT for nothing in the world can she teach.Sorry but knowing biology and teaching it is two different things. If you have her just dont go to the classes just teach yourself! because going to her classes is useless.

She was a very strange professor. Always seemed frazzled. Would become dizzy in class alot. Very intelligent, no doubt. Not always so clear in explaining what she means - if you don't understand ask her again. Always willing to meet with you and explain again.

She was my professor for A&P1 and Microbiology. I like her teaching style: explains very well, encourages students to think and ask questions, respects students, gives reasonable quizzes regularly making preparations for exams much easier. She is very intelligent, dedicated to her profession, and will go an extra mile for students to learn.
Professor Narayan always has her door open to students. If you need extra help, or are shy asking questions in class take professor Narayan. If you want to learn, just come to her class,follow her intructions and do your homework.She trully care about her students, take her class and you will be amazed.
She was fun and pleasant. Really cared about her students. Answered all questions. We asked her to slow down & she went over all the information slowly and clearly. After she teaches a topic, she'll review it and make sure you understand before moving on. Don't slack off and review her powerpoints. Very fair and highly intelligent!

Very caring and dedicated professor. Sometimes confusing and frazzled, but other than that she's pretty good. You need to study everyday and keep up w/ info. study powerpoints, take good notes, pay attention, and read the book you should get an A. :)

Stay Far away from her, she's a wonderful person and means well but she is the most confusing and unorganized prof I had ever had. You can hardly understand her sometimes and her material is very random and if there is no syllabus to follow. I will get a good grade from this class but I had to work extra hard to get it and I didn't learn that much
What can I say, I looove her! Yes she is frazzled and a bit unorginized, but she knows her stuff! The people that can't understand her and didn't get good grades obviously didn't study! I had soo many morons in my class that would complain that they didn't pass a quiz but when you ask them if they studied, they would say no. It's not her, Its you!
This prof. is ok a bit hard to understand. Test are from her power points but you have to study for quizzes and test. Yes she is unorganized but gives extra credit which helps and there is no way of arguing a point she gets affended very easily. Over all ok. Lab is alittle CRAZY FIND A GOOD PARTNER ESPECIALLY FOR UNKOWN BACTERIA. GOOD LUCK.
Fair teacher, gives extra credit, would love to take another class with her. She knows her subjects, lectures well,and uses good visuals and demonstrations and wont move on until everyone gets what shes teaching.
She's a good professor
Four lecture exam each count for 12% of the final grade. There are tons of lab and lecture quizes which are very specific and hard. There is a lab practical that is 20% and this is also very hard-most of the class got in the 60's. The tests aren't hard if you study a lot. The tests are mostly from her powerpoints.Nice lady but wouldn't take again
A nice person really and smart but bad as a professor-- very very very disorganized, unclear, takes things way too personally, and often times, you feel that she is the cause of having bad grades because of her disorganization. Yes, I understand the redundancy of my statement but she is that disorganized.
She is disorganized and may take awhile for her to respond to e-mails, BUT she makes the subject much easier to understand than the book. As long as you pay attention, take good notes, and study powerpoints, you don't need to read the book. Lots of extra credits. 1/3 people received A's and most received high B's.
Dr. Narayanan is the nicest professor i've ever had at MCC. She wants to do nothing but help the students. You must read the book to do well in this class. The power points do not cover everything.
Dr. Narayanan is absolutely amazing! She is a wonderful lecturer, highly educated, and she puts her students first. She cares about the success of her students and guides them throughout the semester. I looked forward to lecture every Tuesday and Thursday. She has a lot of knowledge to present to her students. She is one of my favorite professors.
Dr. Narayanan is the best bio teacher at mcc, yes she can be hard to understand sometimes but she goes over everything over and over until you understand it. Makes you dance in class and uses corny but awesome tricks to understand the material. always there to help you after or before class and makes soo much time for her students. TAKE HER!!!
This prof is GREAT!!!!!! I became scared of science after taking ap1 and 2. This Prof makes her exams crystal clear and she loves to help her students. I took a summer class and ended up getting an A. I studied like crazy but I wouldn't have done it without prof Narayan. TAKE HER SHE'S THE BEST!!!!!!!!
In my opinion.... she is the greatest professor i had out of all biology classes... she is super smart and knows her material...... can't regret taking her even though her class it not easy at all... due to her i wil major in molecular biology!! she is just the best
Very disorganized, always goes off-tangents. Takes WEEKS off at a time and then gives surprise exams. Very frusterating especially during SUMMER. If she doesn't like you, will INTENTIONALLY change your grades on quizzes to WAY lower than you deserve. Does NOT like to hear the truth about herself, and the only reason she's there is tenure. Awful.
I absolutely adore Professor Narayanan. She is so kind and funny. She makes all of her material crystal clear for her students. Many opportunities for extra credit are given, and she will answer any questions you have any time. Her power points are key to success! I have never been more upset to end a summer class. I will truly miss Uma!
Unorganized, pop up assignments, heavy accent. she has been written up many, many times but has tenure. This professor is sneaky and vindictive if she doesn't like you or you point out an error watch out Investigate, ask around before taking her She's also been know to mess with grades.
I took her fall of 2014. Narayanan is very helpful with questions. Provides much extra credit and is very nice. She has a heavy Indian accent which is kind of hard to get by from time to time but other than that she is very specific and clear. Provides extra credit for all tests and attendance is put mandatory but helpful. I will miss her.
Her meditation and dedication are the reasons why her brain works at such a high frequency. She is awesome! It's not always easy to follow along but she will spend the time necessary to clarify the material. Cell Biology was tough, but i'd take it all over again.

Lectures are really dry and long, you have read from the textbook. Can't explain things in simplicity.
She's not bad at all. Most people got A's or B's in her class. My suggestion is that she switches up the syllabus alot and is all over the place... So pay attention and you need to help yourself. Exam questions are from lecture and online hw. Ppt is provided on Campuscruiser. Study smart and go to lecture you'll get an A.

Lectures are long, lectures can be confusing, doesn't explain well, mixes words around, is STUBBORN, I caught a couple mistakes on a test, and showed proof, and even then she was stubborn, DOES NOT LISTEN, bad w/tech, overall not helpful! had 2 study on my own; hard class.
Took for the summer section 2 of 2016. Very kind and nice woman, who cares about the success of her students. Lectures are long, but if you study the connect/campus cruiser assignments you will easily pass the tests. She's there to help and explain things as best as she can. Lots of extra credits also. Got an A. Happy to have taken her!
Took micro over the summer with this professor. She takes the time to explain things, it's just a lot of material in a short period of time. If you study the lecture notes and quizzes you will pass no problem. She also gives extra credit which adds up towards the end.
Prof starts the semester intimidating but she want you to know you must put in effort to earn an A. She does jump around when lecturing but knowing her slides and doing/studying the hw is key. She gives more than enough extra credit and she wants you to learn. Pay attention in class and study properly for a science class and you will do well.

Took her for Summer Session II. Study everyday for this class or else you'll fall behind. Not good at explaining the material. Tends to jump around way too much, overcomplicates simple concepts, & isn't clear about what she's looking for. Do all extra credit, journals questions, glance over textbook, powerpoints & canvas quizzes to do well in class
Took Summer session II & she's sweet but all over the place with lectures. Not specific with what to study for on tests, jumps around in lectures, easily distracted and can sometimes get rude and snappy which is awkward. Study EVERYTHING in her PPTs and journal questions. She made class harder than it had to be, wouldn't recommend.
Took Micro with her, she's sweet but super unorganized. Power points and lectures are messy, she goes off topic 80% of the time. Unless you want to teach yourself, wouldn't recommend.
Can be awkward at some times, but makes the tests based on her Canvas and the powerpoints (also do Connect because it will help you a LOT). She is sweet at times, but can be a bit rude unconsciously. Her accent is a bit heavy, so at least try to lean an ear. She does help you though, just put the work.
She was nice but not a good professor. She made class way harder than it has to be and was not good at explaining the topics. I always left class very confused. Be prepared to study all the science rocket mix quizzes, the journal questions, lecture quizzes and read the PowerPoints and book. Unfortunately she is the only professor for this course

She has a heavy accent and at times can get a bit aggressive. she starts going off on tangents in class about random stuff. She treats people in her class that are doing well better than the ones not doing well.
Take this course in the summer! Microbio is a tough subject but this professor provided enough resources for students to get in an A if they really tried. Lab and lecture quizzes online give you a chance to study to take when ready & connect assignments are xtr cred on quizzes. Study the quizzes and connect hw to do well on tests. A lil effort A
Lecture was always all over the place, you basically have to teach yourself the whole book throughout the semester. Not very organized, left 3 lecture exams at the last 3ish weeks of the semester. She also never responds emails. A lot of her powerpoints did not have anything to do w the exams as well. Good luck
worst professor ever - condescending and insults her students, gives us wrong information, does not know what she is talking about, students have to correct her on tests because her answer key is wrong AVOID AT ALL COSTS and better to take any other humna being alive

This class was quite challenging because there was so much to cover within just 7 weeks and a test or quiz almost every day. But Narayanan is very patient, willing to review material, and is readily assessable. She has a bit of an accent, but you'll get used to it in a couple of class periods. Make sure to do all the work and participate!
Professor Narayanan is a really dedicated professor. She is a bit tough but its only because she wants you to grasp the material and actually learn something. She taught me a lot and I actually developed better studying habits due to her class. Take her if you want to learn. She is a crunchy cookie hard on the outside but soft on the inside.
Professor Narayana definitely enjoys teaching, however, she is not the best at it. She always gets confused about what she is teaching, gives out a ton of assignments that do not help your grade, and is not understanding with different situations her students might be in. She can also be very aggressive. NOT recommended!!!!
The worst professor I ever experienced in my years of college . She does not know how to teach , gets confused with whats shes teaching and is very aggressive with students . she should not be a professor if her goal is to fail students and not understand the pandemic situation. The worst professor that I have ever encountered. She is very unreasonable, assigns a crazy amount of work and gives very little notice for exams. I taught myself all of the material. Don't bother to message her with questions she will respond in the nastiest way possible even during a global pandemic she had no compassion for her students.
If your planning on taking this class to become a nurse prepare to fail if you take it with this professor. Its her mission
Im not the type to speak bad on people but this is not the professor you want to take especially for this class. Shes literally all over the place and youll literally be teaching yourself... shes very aggressive and gets defensive when asking questions. Taking this virtual course with her was so difficult.
Tough subject, just study her slides. The textbook can help to understand some things. She is nice but the class was harder than it should have been. Lectures are hard to follow. The labs are online and done in a way that you actually need to teach yourself wasting more time. Very slow grader with many things graded last minute close to the final.
Professor Narayanan is great. Her teaching style is very easy to follow. Her quizzes and exams were very easy. Some of the questions on exams were directly from the quizzes. Her labs were easy as well. Overall great teacher.
Great Professor for BIO 211! She loves the subject matter so that made me appreciate and get more into the coursework. It was a bit tough at times taking it over the summer because theres a lot of material. However, she gives you many chances to boost your grade. I would definitely take another course with Professor Narayanan.
The professor is very unorganized throughout the entire semester. She is never wrong. She had her good moments but still - Lectures are all over the place but is provided most of the information to help pass, assignments best used to help study throughout. She proctors every exam. If I knew this from the beginning I would have dropped. Good Luck!
This professor was extremely understanding and caring. She truly wanted to see her students succeed. If you study the information provided and put in work you will receive a good grade, and she will help you in any way possible. Could be a bit confusing at times and seem tough, but is willing to always help you out. Exams are proctored, so study!
She is one of the best professors I've ever had. It's a Microbiology class so naturally it can be challenging at times; she'll help you! We asked questions all the time and she never judged us for it and clearly enjoyed teaching us. Pay attention to her lectures because she'll frequently give "hints" on what will be on the exams. Do post-journals!
Super knowledgeable and caring. She will explain things you don't understand, so ask questions! College level lab course, so the material is tough, but she gives all the tools you need to succeed in her course. Very understanding and caring of all situations. Clearly states and teaches what's needed for exams. One of the best professors I ever had!
She was very caring and if you have any questions you can always ask. She uses stories to help you understand the material better. You do get a quiz for each chapter but they are super helpful when studying for exams. She gives you everything you need to prepare.

I took this class during the summer so the session was cramped up within 2months.She made the class lecture and labs as easy as possible and if you participated in class she add points to your quizzes which really helped Her exams was not difficult but if you studied the power points and what she tells you what you should know, you will be good
Uma possesses the quality of what I deem to be the most important quality for a professor - passion. Not only does she love what she teaches, but she loves her students equally. I took Cell Bio this past Spring and the course was very difficult, but Uma makes learning fun and always has time to help. 100% recommend Warning: study and do your best
Professor Narayan is a very wonderful & knowledgeable teacher. She is very nice but she does give out a lot of assignments like connect & many quizzes/test back to back which is too much sometimes. She teaches fast & kind of expects people to keep up w/ her but ask questions or see her after class & go to office hours! She does drop lowest grades!
Like any other science class, it definitely requires lots of studying and at times the course felt overwhelming with the assignments that were given. The professor does care about her students and is very accessible through email and office hours. She also offers extra credit on lab quizzes and drops on exam for the semester.
I took this class during the fall semester, i would recommend taking Professor Uma in principles of microbiology. Narayana is great professor and you'd understand everything she talks during lectures. I took other sciences in middlesex college i enjoyed way professor uma teaches us all the lectures. I would recommend Professor Uma
Very knowledgeable but bad at teaching. No respect for student time, most classes go overtime and often there are at-home quizzes (and tests!) on the weekends. Lectures often go off topic and are hard to follow, reading the textbook is better. She would do well as a bio advisor since she cares about her "kiddos" and helps with the transfer process.
Horrible. Doesn't know how to use a computer (online class) 45 mins was her figuring out how to use Zoom/comp. No notes/PowerPoints prepared- wrote PowerPoints AS she lectured. nothing followed syllabus (gave syllabus from the previous year &expected us to follow it) scheduled final exam on Monday though class was Tue/Thur. Doesn't answer e-mails
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! This professor is sometimes sweet and funny during class and to her students however if your planning on trying to learn Micro don't take this class. Lectures are long and her powerpoints are horrible. She gives out a lot of misinformation and always blames the student when she is wrong.
Nitpicky with grading and doesnt give clear guideline for assignments. A bit disorganized and forgets to update grade changes. 1 test can tank your grade and Class can feel overwhelming if youve got other things going on. She's passionate abt helping students and tries her best. Labs go overtime 90% of the time. Great person but an okay-ish prof
Attendance not mandatory but needed to understand anything. Quizzes are given every week that replace the final. The lab was one of the most disorganized things I've ever seen. Something always seemed to go wrong. She's very nice and cares a lot about her 'kiddos' but her class takes A LOT of time. Don't take unless you have to or need the credit.
