he is one snazzy dresser, love the hats
thought he was a little abrasive at first, after a few weeks its apparent that he cares about his students and what he is teaching about, he's good.
bad. very bad.
He looks like M C Hammer!!!
Cool guy, cares about the students...willing to help
This guy is awesome. He cares about his students, and stands up for what's right.

Umeme is a great Prof. for people who enjoy history. Talks pretty fast so be prepared to write even faster. Other than that, he dresses cool and plays Bob Marley Cd's before class. Make sure you read the communities:)
Very good teacher, excellent communicator, just take his teaching and apply it to what you learned before
Nice guy. Energetic. 2 Legit 2 Quit.
TRULY EXCELLENT PERSON!!!! A GREAT ROLE MODEL. VERY NICE CLASSES. THIS GUY KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING 100% OTHER PROFESSORS: LEARN FROM THIS GUY NOW!!!

best class ever
This guy knows what he's doing and its like he lets everyone else in on the fun. He gets so into what he's teaching you that it makes it easy to follow. If you study the notes he gives you, youll have all the answers to every test/quiz. awesome teacher!
Nice guy, tries to tell you exactly what is on the test so everyone does well. It helps if you can tape his class. Does alot of group study in classroom.
Awesome guy, a sense of humor, gives you chances to up your grade with extra assignments. Take notes and listen will do fine. Do not miss class, likes pop quizzes.
Thought the guy was an airhead... Talked in circles 'til you fell asleep. Also quite rude.
Great professor. Teaches with emotion and passion for what he teaches. Great guy!
Nice guy. Very Friendly and very fair.
very very good prof. very helpful.gives extra credt to grade up. grade you with not only test results. he has a sence of humor. fun class.
Talks too fast and too much. His tests are comprised mostly of things he says will NOT be on the test. He changes his mind too much and if he gets mad enough he will give you a pop quiz/test.
Did not like the teacher because during one 50 minute class period, he had given his students a 70 question short answer test!!!!! Also, I did not learn anything from him because he was very unclear about he was talking about!
This might be the worst prof I have ever had. He is not clear about what you need to know for the tests, which have the most obscure info on them. What color was the shirt that Rosa Parks was wearing on the bus?
this class was so boring. it was hard to keep up with him. he can say so much in a small amount of time that you get lost. the material isnt difficult but he makes it that way. he gives pop quizzes if he thinks the class didnt read, and he picks favorites
Umeme is cool but he is a very unorganized teacher, i took him 3 semesters i a row. i will never take him again he used the same powerpoints in each class and they were 3 very diffrent classes. Not hard at all but just very boring and he talks in circles
seemed liked a cool guy, material was a little sketchy. did have a few favorites, and seemed unorganized. had him once a week, so imagine trying to keep up for 2 hours. somehow did well in his class, maybe felt sorry for me?
I think he's a great guy, very passionatem but he gives a bit too much info sometimes and very unclear as to what materials are going to be covered on the tests. You can pass the class if you just keep up with the reading.
He is a really nice person, willing to give you extra credit if he see's that you are putting forth effort. However, his tests were hard because of how much information and details that we covered within one class period.
He is a nice guy. Willing to help you if you need it. However, I had him once a week and could not keep up witht he note taking for two hours. He talks so fast and my hand hurt so bad from woring when I was done taking notes. His tests are kind of hard because there is so much information to learn.
He is nice, but kind of crazy. His tests a unbelievably hard. But he does try to help you. Take his class if you like to be kept guessing.
Very good class, very helpfull. He'll make you work for it though. If you've got the desire you can get an A.
He is a very nice person, very willing to help you if you need help. But you need to be a very very fast note taker to keep up in his class. He speaks very quickly. Its hard to follow along sometimes. And his test are very hard since they cover so much information. And he always keeps you guessing
very smart prof. always energetic about teaching. makes an effort to get to know everyone. GO TO EVERY CLASS! he's really strict about attendance. participate and take good notes. you'll have to work if you really want an A.
He is a good teacher. Go to class and read the material.
Great Professor. The key to getting a good grade in his class is to simply expect the unexpected.
I think every African Amer. should take this class. Don't worry about the class, go to have fun. Umeme will work with you and DO NOT call him Andre Smith. This one of the best classes at this university. He will work with you if you are not doing well. Take it! I guarntee you will like it!!!!
he is the worst professor i have ever had.
hes very nice, but too hard, too fast, cant keep up with his notes, but he is nice, and smart, but way to fast
I really liked this teacher... I mean at first I thought it was hard but show up to all his classes and see him periodically and participate in discussions and you will pass automatically... great teacher if you want to learn about african american history
He is always so excited about what is going. If i could give you advice state your opinion in his class but dont run your mouth be sure you can back it up with some logic. Dont be afraid to get active in his class, and talk to him he understands life issues. If you work and participate if you want an a he will call on you once a day if you want A
My favorite professor at EUP! All you have to do is participate in discussions and you're in. Make sure that he knows your name...he will give some slack to those who participate! Awesome P-I-M-P suits :)
This man is awesome! He really has a way of getting everyone involved in the class. At no point was I bored with him or with the material we were covering because he made things so interesting.
He is an awesome prof alway excited to teach he moves wuickly but if you keep up with the discussions and talk to him his class will be great. He makes you think and is so excited about everything that he teaches! If you are having trouble with notes say u
Great guy really get's you thinking and open to other idea's.pushes class partisipation
AWESOME PROFESSOR!! very enthiusiastic about his teaching and it shows!! funny, caring, very outgoing, a joy to learn from this guy. best personality ever in a professor. a definite recommendation!!!!
i took his summer class.8:00 in the morning.till like 10.. but his enthusiasim helped.and i got a B! i never could have remembered all that stuff with a diff teach
Sababu is a great professor, very willing to help outside of class and genuinely acts friendly. Speaks quickly but not so fast that you can't keep up. Tests are generally easy providing that you've been in class and read. Sometimes requires papers in class but not in all courses.
Professor Sababu is Awesome!!! Go to class, read the book and participate in class and you will be fine. Ask him for help and he will help you. I cant wait to take him again.
A wonderful Professor, who is really into making sure you learn. I loved this class, and he really reaches out to you as a student. I would defintely recommend this class. If you don't like to read a lot, this will be a problem in this class. Pop quizzes some time, but he kind of gives you a hint that its going to come around.
This was a fun class! His power point presentations were awesome and his enthusiasm was just great! Tests were really hard and I only ended up with a C but all in all I ended up learning a lot. If you like boring professors than don't take Umeme Sababu!
BOO!! That's all I have to say, his teaching style is way too different for me. I need structure and focus when I learn. He doesn't provide that. He's all over the place and have the time, I don't know what to write down for notes. I'm pretty bright but if someone has ADD don't take this man.
Great Professor. I took him for African American History @ Porreco and got an "A". This is by no means a blow-off class. In order to do well you have to READ & PAY ATTENTION. Great class/Professor and if I had to take him again I would.
He is a sweet man. His teaching style is not purely lecture, so if that's where you do best, think twice before taking him. There will be a lot of note; he goes pretty fast, but his classes are multi-media and not boring by any means.
I had him for African American Culture and thought he was pretty hard, mostly because i didn't do any of the reading. If you pay attention, come to class, and read the assignments, he's a GREAT teacher.....Unique style, One in a Billion : )
I'm pretty old school, but Dr. Sababu was fantastic. High energy, very interesting, very interested in your input. I am a history major and would take him again.
Multicultural America. I loved this course! I hate history, but Professor Sababu makes everything interesting. He is an amazing professor. Slightly unorganized, but the material is very interesting. Not too difficult, just show up and you should be okay. Final project worth a lot of poitns, but worth it. I want to take more classes with him!
He is the best professor I have ever had! He's interesting, funny and VERY smart! I took so much away from his class. If you go to class, read your text, pay attention and ask questions, you will do well! You will get out of the class what you put into it, that's really the key!
His personality is great, but that is the only thing good I have to say about him. Althought he says he has been teaching for a while I noticed that he was very unorganized, ie didn't follow his sylabus, created projects and then proceeded to change them, and utilized material in the book that had little to no importance to the historical event.
i miss you Umeme you are awesome thanks so much for everything i can't wait till next year
Very hard class in which he does not explain things well, also provides little additional help or clarity.
Sababu moves ridiculously fast and as a result it's so hard to keep up with notes, it felt like there was a test/quiz every other week...and these tests weren't easy. I mean he's funny, the class is engaging and the videos are interesting, but keep up or you're done.
A lot of people say he is a show boat with no organization and etc. but thats just the slackers talking. I think he does a terrific job of demonstrating history from different points of view with his lessons through lectures, slideshows, youtube video clips, and live class group discussions. If you have an interest in history you'll like this guy.
He's unreliable and unorganized. He speaks incredibly fast and flits between topics with no explanation. His powerpoints are incomprehensible. His tests are so poorly composed and littered with errors that it's both infuriating and insulting. The questions are unexpected and very detailed. He "teaches" by throwing in a video. I've learned nothing.
This class was so insanely difficult. You never know what is going to happen at the next class. He will assign things, and never go over it, or make it due for next time. Tests are INSANE! Take with caution, if you like a Prof that is all show and little else, take him.
He was a nice guy, but his teaching style is unusual. He starts off the semester being very serious & actually teaches. By the end, he shows movies, gives a test every week or two or cuts class short. The tests were very long & involved a lot of writing & to study, I had to look up a bunch of terms & memorize definitions. Not bad - could be better.
I believe professor Sababu has a good basis of knowledge on the subjects at hand but on some occasions not so much. Very nice guy, helpful, and as long as you do your assignments and participate you'll do great in his class
This guy talks fast and is hard to get into contact with. He will help if you stop him after class. He ives a lot of tests, which actually help your grade because of many opportunities to score higher than before. Overall, not bad.
He's really energetic which I like. A trick: he LOVES participation. I got TONS of bonus points for speaking in class. And history isn't an easy subject for me. Take good notes and make index cards for the exams and you'll be fine - a study group is a good idea since he talks so fast and not everyone is gonna have every point written down.
He knows what he is talking about but talks way to fast. Gives a lot of bonus to people to talk in class and know a lot about the subject. If you dont know whats going on you will suffer. He expects you to read a chapter a week in the book and he tests A LOT! Overall I would never take his class again. But he does dress awesome!
Proessor Sababu is awesome. Participate, listen and read your book.
He is entertaining and energetic. If one pays attention, takes notes, and reads the assigned homework, he or she will have no issues passing his class. Participation never hurts.
This is a hard class!! His notes are all over the place and expects way to much outside time of class focusing on material. He updates D2L constantly and if you don't check it every couple hours you could miss out on points!! His test are all over the place just like his teaching style. overall a very confusing class. do not waste your time!!!
He definitely "challenges" a lot of ideas from the book. Tests are so long, sometimes need to stay after class to complete. Willing to help. A ton of extra credit, hard not to get an A. He is all over the place in lectures and assigns long videos but reading the book keeps you on track and able to pass the tests.
He has you read the book and he lectures and says stuff is on the test but when you go to take the test none of it is. Im still not sure where the tests are coming from I studied for hours on his first exam and bombed it. it was 45 multi choice and then he did like 25 vocab words then comprehensive questions bout 25 then bonus the tests were long
Sababu is a great people person. He gets his class involved and is very entertaining, making a 2.5 hour class not too bad. 70% of the grade is the research paper, which isnt too bad (10 pages). he works with you every week on it and explains in detail what he wants in the paper. Research, write (proper tarabian) and receive your A.
I took him for 20th century world; It was once a week, 2 and 12 hours so that could have contributed to why his lectures felt so long. He is a nice guy but puts his opinion in his lectures and you had to pretty much teach yourself out of the book for the tests. I got a B but I hated the class. He does give extra credit but its not easy.
I had him for a 2.5 hour class once a week. every time you do somthing he acts like it will be the biggest grade and will decide if you pass. Every professor is required to have office hours but he thinks he is above this. If yo need to talk to him during hours odds are he will tell you to come back at a specific time and odds are he won't be there
The class was History of American Religion a distribution class for me. He said we needed the book then said he didn't like the book. The end of the class we did a group presentation and he said everyone did fine on it so we would pass but for some reason I got an F. I emailed him he said he'd change it but didn't so now I can't graduate.
Go to class, pay attention and you'll get an A. I am now 75% of the way through the semester and just now rented the book for the class; yet I have gotten A+s on every single test and quiz thus far. He's very knowledgeable and lectures are easy enough. But when he occasionally does online lectures, they are an unorganized disaster.
Great teacher . Tests are based on the revel readings and lectures ! Pay attention in class and take note, so revel quizzes and youll be fine.
Great and knowledgeable professional! Loved this class.
The tests are difficult because there is almost no material from the book used and each question you have to fill in without any multiple choice or t/f. The questions are also very abstract and don't make sense usually. The class would be much easier if we didn't meet at all and the information was a lot more organized.
The typical prof who just rambles on and on about nothing important. He went on a 7 minute tangent about coco puffs the day before our final. tests are based on things he may have spoke about in class, but reason to study, because theres no way to tell
I wish I would have found this page before signing up for his class. Every negative review is accurate. I have never experienced a more stressful gen-ed, treats a 200 like a 400 honors. You need to be responsive & attentive every day as he wipes videos weekly or at worse within 24 hours where you cannot return to them.
Dr. Sababu struggles a lot with tech, which created a lot of issues within the class. He is relatively nice, and his lectures are entertaining. However he does a lot of unorthodox things. I suggest, take really good notes, read the book thoroughly, take advantage of bonus oppurtunities, and address issues with grades as soon as possible.
Do not take his class. Explains what he wants after he grades stuff.
It's been confusing from the start. Outside of the continuous grammatical errors in announcements, and emails, he does not provide enough structure to the assignments. He opens tests and announces their availability within 12 hours of the test being closed. If you want to take this course to enjoy the subject material, don't.
Professor Sababu is a wealth of information, but more times than not he is difficult to understand and his directions are unclear. He sends several emails a day, even on non-class days, changing the rubric for homework's due that week. He has changed the course setup several times in one semester.
Umeme seems like a nice enough guy. But I should have taken the warning when half the class dropped in the first week. His quizzes are horrid and he rambles on about things that don't actually matter. He's very hard to understand when speaking and talks way too fast to take effective notes.
Absolutely confusing professor. You will need to put in a lot of work for yourself and be careful because he will switch up stuff on the syllabus without much warning. If you have to take one of his classes, all I can say is good luck.
It's May and I still have no idea what's going on. Clearly passionate about history, but VERY disorganized. The syllabus was a suggestion, almost always no feedback given, takes off points for not following directions he didn't give. Allowed students to skip a week but still took points off for not doing the assignments?
Professor Sababu's class is a challenge, but using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook can really help. Stay organized as the syllabus tends to change.
