Do NOT take her. I repeat do NOT take her! She is probably the WORST professor I have ever had.
Take another prof. You've been warned
She's all over the place, and makes mistakes on problems. For exams, she claimed it would be 40 MC questions on 4 chapters. Test day, it was 100 questions and 7 chapters! She's irritated when we ask questions, calls students at random to come up to the board, and is very unclear. I had to teach myself from the book just to pass.
Don't take her class, she is clueless, you're gpa will drop, deffinetly the worst professor I have ever had
WORST professor ever. Not even tutoring helps. DO NOT TAKE HER !
I've never felt more confused in class, she is not clear. Also doesn't properly get across points- at all.
She's very confusing during her lectures, when asking questions she not very clear about her answers. Feels like the lecture been rush through quickly, you definitely need the textbook to learn (self-teach yourself). Exams are quite confusing, even the lab is much easier then the lecture class.
This professor is probably the worst professor on campus. She doesn't follow the syllabus. is extremely unclear and students must teach themselves in this class. she gave a quiz that was an hour long and didn't even grade it . . . STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!
She is not helpful at all. She is not clear on what she wants done and gets nasty with students for asking questions. Not caring at all. She gives pop quizzes and EXTREMELY long and difficult papers. Tests are very hard. If you don't show up to class there's no way you can pass. Doesn't explain thing at all. AVOID.
Worst professor I've ever had. Doesn't explain anything, and tests are ridiculous. She told us a test would be 40 questions and that it would cover 4 chapters. On the day of the test, it was 100 questions and 7 chapters! She gave us a chance to make it up, but only during her own convenient time and she showed up an hour late because she forgot. No
Horrible teacher. Tough grader, does not help or know how to teach. DO NOT TAKE!
She is a very hard grader. She is extremely difficult to understand and does not know how to teach. Do not take a class with her.
VERY IRRESPONSIBLE, UNORGANZIED, DOES NOT GIVE ENOUGH TIME FOR EXAM. DOES NOT GIVE US A HEADS UP ABOUT CLASS OR EXAMS. EX: FIRST EXAM SHE SURPRISED WITH A 100 MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAM TO TAKE IN LESS THAN 70 MINTUES... SAY WHAT! TAKES FOREVER TO POST GRADES. DO NOT TAKE HER
honestly, the worst teacher at QC. she really doesn't know how to teach. she demands way too much from you, and she doesn't follow what she says in class, THIS WOMEN STARTED LECTURING ON NEW MATERIAL FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE HANDING OUT A TEST!! WHO LECTURES BEFORE A TEST?! everyone did so bad on the first test, it was curved 20+ points.. enough said.
Just an overall really bad professor. Avoid taking her. You haven't seen bad until you've seen her.
not only is she very unorganized and can't teach anything, she's really nasty and so rude and disrespectful.
She is the worst professor. Once again, she is the worst professor ever. Don't ever, ever take her for anything. Hard grader doesn't explain anything. How did she get hired? Why is she still working here? She has no common sense, no courtesy, and doesn't know anything. Really bad.
worst professor in QC. Out of 22 students in the class there was 1 A+ and 1 A-. that's it. terrible professor. The papers, there are 4 of them, are required to be 12 pages long. They are actual journal articles. This is literally a grad level course; the tutors at QC couldn't even help out. Avoid at all costr.
STAY AWAY FROM HER. WORSE TEACHER I EVER HAD.
On the first test she gave 95 questions in a matter of 70 min to complete. The average of the class was a 50.... She blamed us for doing so bad. She said another college she gave the same amount of questions and the students did well. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Dr. Barahmand is a good professor, but just like any math or science class you need to put time in on your own to do well. Not sure why she has so many dislikes as she explained concepts very well and was there to help if you needed it. Read up on the material the day before and you'll gain a lot out of her lecture. The A is very achievable.
WORSE PROFESSOR I EVER HAD. DO NOT TAKE HER. SHE WILL RUIN YOUR GPA. STAY AWAY. TAKE ANY OTHER PROFESSORS BESIDE HER!!!!!
Very hard, very nasty. Don't take.
Horrible professor, do not take her. For one thing, she doesn't speak English. She has a very bad attitude and can't teach at all. Extremely hard grader. Just avoid her.
A wonderful and hardworking person. She has full command on the subject. If you are there to learn she is there for you. But if yu re there only for grades, you can't succeed.
The material taught was more for graduate students and too difficult for undergrads.
she is very agreeable and is trying hard to adjust to the new system here. she seems very knowledgeable and is always willing t help. But she gives hard exams and only those who really study hard can get good grades. but then she is fair too and curves grades.
She tells you what you need to know. You just have to do your work and read the textbook for yourself sometimes and her slides help too!
Prof Baramand is very helpful and goes out of her way to help students learn and earn good grades. I have already learned a lot.
She is very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. I learned a lot about writing a research paper from this course
Good teacher for her knowledge in the subject, new to system so her method of teaching is a bit slow but always clear.
Her lectures are very detailed, but also very dry. Don't expect any excitement from her class, just constant dictation of facts and information. I enjoyed what I read in the textbook rather than what I learned from going to class. There were 3 exams, with extra credit. Exams are quite difficult and felt like it was grad. level.
Prof. Barahmand is an amazing professor. Her lectures can be quite long and the materials can be exhausting but the course itself is supposed to be that way. 6 quizzes, 4 papers, 2 exams and extra credit. An A is definitely reachable with hard work!
Lectures can be dry but she always presents material in a clear manner. She also seems very sweet and I do not doubt that she would be willing to help any student that asked for it. She even gave students that missed the final an opportunity to retake it! Very reasonable, understanding, and fair.
I took her for psychopathology and she gave no chances to do better, she was not clear with lectures and the extra credit was given on sundays and i work and most people do but she would not change the day. She has an attitude and her test are so hard. DONT TAKE HER !!
She is very good at teaching, in fact I think she is the best. I learned a lot from her
One of the nicest professors in the department. Always ready to help her students
Tough exams but she gives extra credit. She wants to see her students do well. Obviously if you don't come to class then you won't pass. I was iffy about taking her because of the reviews but she isn't bad at all. Sit close to the front and pay attention. Use the textbook because it helps a lot.
she is good
She was actually very kind and understanding throughout the semester. Not a lot of people did well on the first exam so she decided to drop the lowest grade for everyone. Also offers extra credit to those who show that they care. Show up to class, take notes, ask questions, and read the textbook.
Dr Barahmand is one of the nicest professors that you will ever meet. She offered multiple occasions for students to do well and she will make time to talk with her students if you need to. Attendance isn't mandatory but I highly suggest showing up to every class because if you miss a little bit, you will miss a lot.
Professor Barahmand is amazing! I don't care what anyone says. One of the few professors who really wants to see her students succeed. If I could take her again, I would. If you are a serious psych student then I highly recommend taking her. You can definitely learn a lot from her. Took her for Personality and she was amazing.
she is a great teacher just listen to her and study for your tests.
This class had so much information, it was hard to fit it all into the class time... so i don't blame Professor Barahmand at all for any difficulty in the class. Its hard to be extremely helpful during a large lecture class, but she was always open to questions /discussion afterwards. Her tests came from the notes mostly, so definitely dont skip.
Very knowledgeable and is interested in students' learning. The course is heavy, but she is very understanding and gives you opportunity to make up for lost grades. Gives a lot of extra credit but makes you work for it so it's fair. One of the best professors QC can ever have.
Expects a lot from students. Not a good professor
she is such a sweet lady !! always understanding and caring and ALWAYS willing to help the student out in any way possible
To be honest, she isn't knowledgeable in the subject she teaches. She just does not get the criteria of American education. Don't take her! Her lectures are forever long and boring.
Way too challenging. She is not helpful and she forgets to grade things and loses quizzes and makes you retake them. Disorganized
Really disappointing class. I would probably have an easier time in a graduate classroom. Never had a professor expect so much from students without HELPING and actually teaching us to meet her crazy standards. Avoid at all costs please
Dr. Barahmand is a nice professor but the lecture is very boring. However she gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and gives sample questions/study guide for the exams. For the textbook, I recommend reading the section summary before class so you have an idea what the lecture will be about.
Hey guys, you may find the class a bit difficult at first but by the time the semester ends you realize you have learned so much. Prof Baramand goes out of her way to help students. She spends a lot of time with you. If you want to learn this is a good class. She gives extra credit opportunities so you can raise your grades.
A very caring professor. I found the course a bit hard in the beginning. But immediately the professor made an appointment with each of us to see where we were having trouble and that appointment really worked. Prof. Baramand is very knowledgeable and really teaches you important an useful stuff. I learned a lot from her class.
Overall, like every other W course this one is pretty intense. But professor Barahmand is very helpful. She is very knowledgeable and goes out of her way to help students learn. She understands your problems and gives you lots of tips to remember stuff.
Prof Usha is super knowledgeable and very sweet. However shes a tough grader and makes you work for everything. If you want an easy A do not take her. If you want to actually learn then take her. Overall I had a good experience but she definitely drained my soul haha.
Professor Barahmand is very serious about teaching. She doesn't spend a second doing anything else but teach. We learned a lot from her classes this semester. I really wish all other professors did the same. If you are looking for an easy class prof Baramand is not for you. Take her if you want to learn some good stuff for your career.
Kind of extremely useless. Her assignments are really useless, and they really make no sense whatsoever. She doesn't teach and she stumbles over what she is trying to say, and she doesn't know how to ask questions, which just confuses everyone and makes it that much more difficult. Please don't take her if you genuinely want to do well and learn.
Professor Barahmand's lectures are long - if you don't pay attention, it gets easy to get confused. But she's always willing to help you out if you're confused - after class and in office hours. She's one of the nicest professors I've taken at Queens College and her tests are straight forward if you pay attention in class.
The low rating is so inaccurate. This isn't High school; no professor is going to hold your hand through class. With that said, Professor Barahmand is the sweetest professor and if you ask for help she will help you. She walks you through papers, gives excellent feedback, and gives credit to those who work hard in class. I recommend her 100%
She is the sweetest! Really makes you work for the grade and is very challenging, but if you give it your all and ask for help, she is ALWAYS available to help!!! Really shows that she cares for each of her students. She is a very caring professor.
Oh gosh Professor Barahmand. She is an amazing professor. Of course you work hard for your grade, that's what college is about. If you get a low grade, that's because you didn't put a effort into your work. For the main papers, if you send in your draft or even if you ask her questions, she kinda gives you some point for that. What an AMAZING woman
Worst professor i have ever had. She is not clear with what she wants, she expects a lot from her students. She deserves to work at a Masters level, she barley helps when you ask her for it she will just confuse.
By far the worst professor Ive ever had This professor does not speak a word of English and is very nasty to students. More than half the class dropped out because she was so difficult. We had to write between 10 and 15 page papers a week
Shes the best , may seen difficult at first but shes not
This was a writing intensive psychology class. Anyone who complains clearly does not know the work load for "W" classes. The professor is AMAZING though! She will help anyone if they need, she provides templates and documents and basically holds your hand for these papers! She pushed deadlines further if asked and provided extra credit!
Worse professor, stay away for your own good!
I'm satisfied with 100% of her , and professor lectures well I suggest taking her off
If you're willing to put in the work and time, you will do well in this class. The material itself is hard, and Professor Barahamad does her absolute best to go through it with you. She gives you templates for essays and does parts of the paper with you in class. If you ask her questions she is always available to help. Tests & quizzes are fair too
Yes she gives a lot of work because its a W class. But she takes the time during lectures to explain any issue or problem you are having. She is very caring for her students and is willing to assist on papers, in class assignments. She does not hover over you and allows you to converse with other students for answer. The sweetest professor I've met
These ratings are wrong. Professor Barahmand is actually so genuine and dedicates all her time in explaining information to you. Her class is 20% writing assignments (hw & classwork), 25% exams (2) & 40% papers (1 short paper, 2 long papers). Her grading rationale couldn't be better. I was afraid due to review to take her but she is the sweetest.
DONT TAKE HER! She's one of the worst professor's I've ever come across at QC. Instead of telling our class, what she wants us to do for each assignment, She tells each group a different thing and expects us all to know exactly what she wants. Her midterm was extremely hard. She gives out way too much work and is extremely disorganized.
Professor Barahmand is one of a kind. Let me preface this by saying 213 is A LOT of work, but she tries to make it as easy to digest as possible. She is so caring and goes above and beyond for her students. She even pushes back deadlines if she finds her students are struggling. She is the SWEETEST!! I would 100% take her again. Truly a gem.
I loved her. she explained everything well and we got to pick our grading. she gave group quizzes and regular quizzes and 3 exams. if u read the textbook and go to class she is an easy a. but she doesn't stick to the syllabus too well.
She is tough. She is really really tough. Its not difficult work, but its a lot of work. You have to keep up with the class. She is very critical of papers and assignments. The pros are: she is very accessible. You will learn how to write in APA format and be head and shoulders above the other 213 classes.
Very sweet professor and she really cares about her students like they're her children. This class was my most challenging class in the semester but she is very willing to work with students and clears up any confusion you have if you ask her. I suggest creating a class group chat for extra help because it can get confusing at times.
Do not follow the comments from the other reviews left for her. This woman SUCKS. She does not answer emails and when she does she responds with less than three words that does not answer your questions. The review questions she gives for her exams do not correspond well with her power points from lecture. She is confusing and simply cannot teach.
i actually really liked this professor. she was really sweet and always took the time to read my essays after class and make corrections for me. the tests weren't hard if you study before. things weren't always so clear but if you ask for clarification, she would tell you. definitely not an easy class but I enjoyed it
This class was cut by the COVID-19 Lockdown. This professor is amazing, she knows the material without reading the board. She give a lot of quiz and group class (Irats&Trats)you NEED to read, read slides and vocabulary. She is tough but understands(talk to there if any issue). She gave us lecture recorded, and live class for questions and review.
She gives out a lot of quizzes and tests. She is very hard to understand and very boring. Her quizzes are group effort but she will assign you to a group hopefully you are not put in a work where none of your group members show up.
Her lectures are very boring, when class was in person I would hear people snore. She's disorganized with her assignments. Every chapter there are two quizzes (IRAT & TRAT) one is done individually and one as a group. Answers are online. She does response to emails pretty fast but overall would not recommend
Awful. For Advancement Experimental Clinical Psychology online, she was garbage. I must say, VERY intelligent, she knows her stuff, phenomenal, explains the subject well. But, as a professor? Contradicts what she says, very vague about what she wants, rarely answers e-mails, and gives five word responses. Can't even correctly upload her stuff. Bad
Professor Usha is an intelligent woman. She might be intimidating at first, but she really pushes students to learn. There's a lot of work, definitely have to work for the grade. She is nice and approachable. She is much willing to help outside of class time. Very recommended, but don't take her if you just want to pass by doing minimum work.
Her classes are designed to fail students. She isn't clear about what she exactly wants us to do. Gives so much of work like we don't have other courses or a life outside the class. Also gives -ive scores for not submitting assignments like we're in kindergarten. Would NEVER take her or suggest anyone to take her class. TRUST ME, DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
Awful. If you want to struggle and cry at home take her. My classmates and I have thought about dropping out of college because of her. I don't think professors should overwhelm their students with so much work like how this Professor does. Big mistake.
If you want to have the most difficult Professor ever, take her. She is too hard on her students and makes us students go crazy with the amount of work and tests/quizzes. I do not recommend her. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! easy F.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!! you will regret it. This professor will overwhelm you with the amount of work she gives. She is not clear with her wants and is a tough grader.
I went into this class knowing it was going to be hard since its an experimental class but to my surprise, it is unmanageable with professor. She is incredibly unorganized, changes due dates out of nowhere and barely cuts you any slack. I knew she was horrible when she wanted to have a midterm, quiz and class on the same day. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!
This Professor will make your life impossible. She doesn't reply to her emails or care about her students. She will stress you so much with assignments you will question your ability to pass at least once throughout the course. Honestly the biggest mistake you can do is take this Professor. DON'T DO IT.
Well, to start off, I have never experienced such a weird grader. The in-class quizzes were very tough, they're disguised as worksheets(10 in total). 3 group papers, 2 oral presentations, and a final worksheet. Did I mention 10 quizzes disguised as worksheets? Oh, don't take this class if you enjoy your gpa above a 3.0. She's one tough cookie.
Dont take the class if youre sensitive or wont work for it. The class isnt hard but it can be REAL intense. A lot of people right her off as rude shes not. Her directions are the clearest, her questions and critiques are 100% to guide you for later assignments. Just pay attention and youll do fine. Lectures can feel really long.
The workload can be hectic and time-consuming, due to this I would steer away from taking this professor if you need to focus a lot of your time on other courses/personal life as well. However, she is very good at explaining the material and is willing to offer extra help if needed. This is one of those courses that you get the grade you work for.
You REALLY have to put in the work and the effort. Its a LOT of work and a LOT of material. But if you put in the work and meet with her often you will learn and excel. If youre not willing to put in the work dont bother taking her. Shes honestly a great professor and really cares ab her students. Dont be afraid to voice your concerns
Man, this is the first time I've ever rated a professor. She is BYFAR the WORST professor I've ever had. She literally will make your life a living hell. I never had any issues with my professor but this time it's unbearable .. Please do yourself a favor and DON'T take her. You'll understand why. In fact, I'm dropping this class immediately!
this class wasnt too bad just make sure you ask her questions during class she doesnt respond to emails and she gives long tests. she does give a study guide before class but doesnt leave lecture notes. i would take her again.
DO NOT TAKE. Instant F. Ive never in my life failed a class and had such a hard time with a professor this bad before. The work load is way too much, not enough time to take quizzes/tests, exam questions not from the book/lectures etc. I can go on. DO NOT TAKE.
I wanted to see if I would actually be abled to take a winter course, but with taking this lady's class I never wanna touch one again. Use the textbook? You barely pass OR dont. Use the lectures? you dont pass. Use them both? Hell its up to God at that point. Do yourself a favor, and dont even consider taking this course. PSYCH 221WIN
She's awful, inflexible, discriminating, and doesn't seem to care to be a professor.
I would avoid taking her if you have a heavy workload in your other classes. She is very disorganized and doesn't follow the syllabus. She doesn't upload the lectures on time. There is little she grades you on and no opportunity for extra credit. No textbooks, but lecture-heavy. Take good notes.
Don't. An extremally disorganized lecturer, Blackboard is very disorganized, randomly assigns things, doesn't properly explain instructions for anything ever. She says that most people who don't take her class don't get an A and she seems to be ok with that. Stay far away from her. She will make you hate psychology. Don't think about taking her
Overall, she was good. She gave weekly quizzes. I was a point away from an A-, she gave me a B+. No curve, on her syllabus it says if you ask her about curves, she'll round down. Lectures are heavy & study! The exams were hard because they required not only definitions, but applying them to real life situations. Grade is exams/quizzes mostly (90%).
Very disorganized and unable to teach in a clear manner.
Wish I never took the class her teaching caused lots of unnecessary stress
The class material is definitely a continuation of 213w, but man she is intimidating. She's very hard to come to with questions because she'll respond with an attitude. Because of this, i wasn't comfortable asking her for help. Also be prepared for a heavy work load, she gives wayyy too much work in such a short period. Pretty disorganized too.
She had a constant issue with coordinating her tests or weekly quizzes, either they would not show up on blackboard or there would be questions that just aren't supposed to be there. She has this attitude also that kind of makes you hesitate to participate in her classes, and she took attendance every class. Overall, she's a whole no.
Just horrible from the inability to load things correctly to the inability to explain what she wanted.
Dr. Barahmand is a very unorganized and un-compassionate professor. Her statements were very unclear and when asked for clarification, she would respond with a very bothered tone and would ask to look back at the videos. Overall, I would NOT RECOMMEND the professor to anyone especially, if she is teaching online. NOT TECH SAVY AT ALL.
Overall, awful professor. Very disorganized and has no care for questions or concern. When students would ask a question, she would respond very rudely and would tell us to look back at the video. So don't count on clarification from her. She encouraged students to hand in work early but would return the work hours before the paper is due.
Ok. Don't get me wrong, she is a sweetheart and always helped when I needed it. But I would not put myself through that torture again and neither should you. 12 quizzes, 2 exams, 1 paper project. The textbook is THE BIBLE, because her lectures are incoherent and have nothing to do with the exam questions. She even messes them up too. a headache.
The professor has the tendency to post things on Blackboard randomly and not announce it. Her lectures are boring. I would avoid this professor if possible.
Professor grades students on participation but won't turn on her own camera during the zoom class. Her tone of voice is either condescending or completely monotone. DO NOT RECOMMEND for a 3 hour online class- all she does is read directly from her power point slide which is more or less copy and pasted information from the textbook.
Not sure why this professor rating was so low i was worried taking her because of it but she was absolutely reasonable and an A is deff attainable if you do the work...its not too much! I would deff take her again online..perhaps in persons isn't as easy tho i would assume. All in all this is a great professor very knowledgeable
This Prof is vastly underrated! She is a very kind and understanding person and wants her students to do well; being present during class goes a long way and an A+ is very attainable. I will and already am signed up for two more of her classes!
This teacher was horrible, If you like to teach yourself then taker. NO SLIDESSS JUST TALKING!!!! You have to view video lectures that were taking years ago and answer questions. During class she will choose you to answer the questions she posted. The class in almost 3 hours and you still have loads of work to do outside of class to keep up
Student-led classes where students are expected to present articles about a topic each week and the professor criticizes the presenter/the class for not knowing the material on a technical level. Her expectations are unclear and informally changed throughout the semester.
TAKE ANYONE BUT HER. She pigeonholes and demeans students every week to the point of tears w/o any remorse. She's unorganized, unprofessional, and inappropriate. This is by far the least professional and qualified professor I have encountered in my 17 years of education and I believe her teaching methods are harmful to her students. STAY AWAY. \
This course had potential, but unclear expectations, vague guidelines, and public shaming created an atmosphere inhospitable to even a water bear. This "flipped classroom experiment" requires empathetic, supportive instruction - not suitable with this professor. Take this course if you want to revisit high school pettiness.
This professor is great - really kind and wants students to succeed. Attending class is key, and getting an A+ is doable with effort. I found unstuck study helpful for my study prep.
I'll be passing the class, but as a warning to others…the textbook is a great read, but unfortunately won't help too much. Her quizzes don't match w/the textbook info. The quiz questions have missing info & lots of misspellings. Doesn't reply to emails. If you need this class to graduate just take someone else. It's truly not worth the headache.
This is my first time ever having to drop the class, and I'm a junior majoring in bio. Dr. Barahmand seldom responds to emails, regardless of what day of the week it is. Her quizzes were filled with errors, whether that was spelling mistakes, not having a correct answer choice, or flat out marking answers wrong when they were correct.
A professor should be easily accessible outside especially for an asynchronous course. She doesn't respond to emails and when she does it is often with an attitude. She doesn't take accountability for her own mistakes and will find a way to blame you. Quizzes had incorrect information and wrong answer choices. If able to take someone else do so.
Prof. Usha was very nice. Her teaching style might not be what all students prefer—we had to read a lot and participate in every lecture. But that's expected if you actually want to understand the material and not just pass. I believe that's why she has a low rating. Overall, she was kind, a lenient grader, and allowed extensions.
took this as a winter class. teacher is responsive enough but really boring. all in all a easy class to take for a credit.
This professor doesn't really use lectures, she has modules for each day, and there are the worksheets (she doesnt grade them, its more for practice) she talks more and expects you to pay attention, she gives alot of work, on top of a group research paper. Now, if you have friends, take this class with them, it will make it easier for you.
