Think Kramer from Russia ... no one paid attention, yet everyone passed.
very nice, helpful and understanding, fair got a B in his class
READ THE TEXTBOOK, EASY OPEN NOTES TETS
super nice guy, hard accent to understand, no need to understand...it's too easy
Cant understand, open book tests
Straight off the boat, easy A, open book test
very good teacher hard to undersatnd but overall real good
open note and open book exams and even pushes them back
Very nice guy, thick accent, easy B or A, open book/note tests
Hard to understand but easy to get a good grade
NEVER paid attention. learned the material on the day of the test (open book)
Just show up for the tests with your book, and you can pass
Very nice guy, easy to get good grade
TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU!!

Easy A, Easy class and open book exam. Overall just so eassssssssssssssssy
Had for stats. Very nice very EASY. Use book or notes on every test. No collected homework, hard to understand thru accent but very nice and easy guy
His english is Terrible! BUT the class is Sooo EASY! All exam's are either open note, or allow cheat sheets.
Easy class, easy A, open book or open notes exam. Don't understand one word he say. Overall just very very very easy.

great teacher
Hard accent to understand. Goes over the same problems inclass atleast twice. Doesnt take attendance. Lecture straight from the textbook. Allowed open book and note tests when I took him, however I heard his policies have changed.
can't understand one word he says, open note tests, no attendance policy, material is gets harder towards the end, TAKE HIM
okay teacher. cant understand but really nice.
nice guy but his english is unclear. I think he will pass in any of his classes.
It isn't easy anymore, no open note or open book tests. The class gets much harder as the semester goes on. You basically have to either know everything he is going over or be prepared to teach yourself. BUY THE BOOK
He is not American. So his English is unclear. He is very partial to some students.
russian with sexy accent. class isnt hard if you have friends who know stats are are willing to help you
very easy class, but it is very hard to understand him, very strong accent! easy going..always let out of class early..take him
Come to class with a translator, and a hearing aid. He speaks in a funny accent and very softly, you can barely hear him. NOT the best teacher in the world. Dont take this class of you want to learn something.
Nice guy, but hard accent to understand. Sometimes easier just to learn it on your own out of the book. overall pretty fair teacher.
unless you know russian dont take him.. impossibe to understand, he rambles about things, and yea no more open book test.. i would aviod him if i were you
He is impossible to understand and you basically have to teach yourself. All you have to do is read the book, and get the study guide...it was very helpful to me. as long as you understand what you are reading you should get a good grade.
If you are a girl with a russian last name you will do fine. He is extremely hard to understand and doesnt explain things well. Read the book. Test are curved!
He is a good teacher and a nice person, but it's true he is hard to understand, however, he wants everyone to pass and he is very friendly and fun
NO MORE OPEN BOOK TESTS...Gives you the formulas though..Accent makes it difficult to understand, however he does try to make everyone pass..even if it means curving tests a LOT
Definately wants people to pass, I got really bad grades on every test and managed to pull a B- in the class. Probably wants to keep his job here in America. I don't blame him. Take him if you want to pass stats and not have to actually learn any of it
he is a very nice guy, but it is very hard to undertsnd him. Wants everyone to pass
It's very true that it is hard to understand him. Very thick accent. Grades his tests very easily and they aren't that hard to begin with.
is this guy for real. he grades really easy. but doesnt have a god damn clue. hard to understand but hes really nice. try another professor b4 taking him
He's not that hard to understand if you actually pay attention. I have no idea how I passed, but I got a B. He wants eveyone to succeed and is very flexable. The HW doesn't really count, so don't worry about it.
Ze teacher for ze class has a veddy deep russian accent. Goodz ze luck.
Someone should film this guy teaching and send it to americas funniest home videos, nice guy though... failed everything and still got a C. Dont take if going on to Stats 2
Really a nice guy, tests arent that bad but he is hard to follow, thick accent substruct=subtract, but grades easily. Recommend for easy B. Hw doesnt count, but if you're going to stat 2, maybe not the best choice. Teaches like 11 classes at 3 different schools. So you wont get tests back for3wks
Awesome class...Tells stories....tough accent but you get through it...easy tests and grades easy...best stats teacher at towson...highly recommended
very very easy but a little hard to understand him. He is very good and helpful and easy grader.
If you want to learn. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Horrible! Comes into class late everyday and doesn't even know what he is going to teach the class and then teaches same lesson over and over in his stupid Russian voice. Please save yourself from this professor!
Enrolled in class after reading the ratings and enjoyed it. HE is so Hilarious and will actually make sure that you pass the class. A little hard to understand but if you contact mhim with issues is more than willing to help you. DO TAKE HIM
tells stories all through out class. Has a thick accent but for 2 weeks we learned about the mean, median and mode. Take him
talks like zis. deep accent, will go out of his way to help though, goes over stuff FOREVER. dont take if you need to take upper level stats classes. but if not GO FOR IT
Great teacher. He is hard to understand at first but he makes stats easy. i havent studied or done any of the homework and have a b+. What more can you want
hes young, but hes a mess. doesnt care if class pays attention or not. likes to teach, and he talks a lot. he tries to befriend the students which is funny. take him for an easy A/B he curves EVERYTHING
Didnt learn anything in this class, the tests were impossible but he let us use book and notes which still didn't help, But he curves a lot. He teaches very fast so half the time your lost in the class. I only took him for an easy A otherwise I didnt learn anything to prepare me for econ 306
this class is easy. tests are straight forward and it's open book. unfortunately, this spring semester the class was full of idiots.
You have 60's on all your test and the chap tells you that you can still get an A. LOL..His tests are stupid, he says study one thing and you see something totally different but the secret to getting nice grades is to write anything in, he gives you points for making an attempt regardless of whether you get it right or not.
very thick accent. tests are openbook or you can use an equation sheet. 4 exams. basically you have to teach yourself everything.
Didn't understand a word he was saying. Basically, I learned nothing from this guy. Have to teach yourself. On test just fill in something because he gives you credit for anything. Take class if you don't want to learn anything and want an easy grade.
Very nice guy...has strong Russian accent. Helps you out with your grade, butr you have to do a lot of reading to be able to understand whats going on.
Nicest guy, gets off track though and you will wish he comes with sub-titles, thick Russian accent. Always willing to help. Gonna need to read the book alot and teach yourself cause you can't understand him. Nice guy.
Great teacher but difficult to understand. Material is hard but leaves out a bulk of the hard stuff and tests on the easier material, but still need to read and do work to do well.
shilov is awsome! i asked him for an A so he gave me one although i didn't do very well on my tests
Fair warning: LISTEN, with all your might. Russian accent is very thick, guessed at what he said, laughed at his jokes. Had to work hard - tests were not too bad, though sometimes he would say one thing would be on test, then there was something else. He does a great job of simplifying a difficult subject, he goes easy on the complicated stuff.
Shilov is a great professor! I listened carefully to everything he said, took detailed notes, used TI-83 whenever possible, did Homework, and had no problems on the Tests.
He's a good professor. Teaches you how to do all the stuff on your calculator. Definately have a TI-83 for the class, it makes things and tests way easier. He has a rough accent, but is overall a good teacher. Easy A.
the easiest state professor at towson. i never went to class, only studied for a few hours before each test, and got 99 on all. his accent is hard to understand, but you get used to it. just study the book a little and you'll be fine. he gives four tests, 25% each.
hard to understand and not that thurough with the information needed to do weel in the class but he is very giving when it comes to grading.
Really hard to understand, that russian accent is brutal. The class is relatively easy, the MiniTab is garbage though. Didn't learn anything from labs but they are mandatory. Expect a lot of self teaching but the tests aren't that hard and his grading is lenient. Expect A/B
His accent makes him hard to understand. He's very unfocused and doesn't really know what he's doing. Once you figure out what he is trying to teach, go home and teach it to yourself. He's pretty understanding if you need help but not the best at explaining things.
Great guy, reasonable class. Not much homework at all and the material is pretty easy to understand. The tests were not bad at all, and he does a good job of reviewing the classes prior to exams. His only negative is his accent. Sometimes just non-comprehendable. He'll attach words together and not make sense. Nice guy though, I'd take him again.
Pretty easy class if u pay attention. The hardest part is understanding his Russian accent. He gives partial credit on exams,so as long as u attempt 2 do the problem, u'll get some points 4 it. He assigns homework, but rarely checks it b/c the answers r n the book. He's always willing 2 help an lets u bring formula notes in 4 the test. Got a B+
Had him at CCBC horrible teacher nice guy. Cannot understand him, does not prepare you properly for test, hw not required to turn in. I always felt lost. I think he knows he is bad cause grades easy I ended up with an A. Do not recommend
easy class, but i had a lot of trouble understanding his russian accent. he's always at least 5 min late but ull get used to it. lol
Get ready to use Minitab, which is totally pointless. Very thick russian accent... "Hookeeey" (OK) very hard to follow and understand, but he goes over the material over and over again. Tests are not too bad, just try to take good notes if possible. Lets you use a TI-83 for all tests.
Haha that's so funny he definately does say "Hookeeey (OK) Guys" all the time its funny that someone pointed it out haha! Very nice guy! a world traveler! Had him for summer class and it was rediculously easy. Showed us how to do all the problems on our calc. Very thick Russian accent is his only downfall, took me a while to understand him.
He overall is an ok teacher. He trys to help as much as possible. He is always late for class. His accent can get in the way sometimes, but if u listen carefully you should be fine. He gives partial credit on tests which helped me get a B in his class.
Subject matter of class is hard, but he does his best to explain it. He is NOT looking to fail anyone and gives credit whenever he can. VERY nice guy, if I had to take class again, I would take this course with him.
I HATED math until I met Prof. Shilov! He really tried to halp me and he went out of his way to help! I know his accent is an obsticle but once he gets rid of his "cold face" the language of math just seems to flow. I don't car ewhat anyone says Prof. Shilov is the best!!!! "Ho-Kaaay" :)
The course material is very confusing but he makes it easy. If you get an entire question wrong on an exam he will still give you more than half credit for at least trying. Its easier to do well in the class than to fail. I highly recommend taking his class.
Mr. Shilov is the nicest professor I've ever had :] Math is my worst subject, and I somehow came out of there with a B. His accent is hard to understand, but he's always willing to help! I'd take him again if I had to.
Come to class and you will Pass. Come every day and you will get an A. Really nice guy, has great sense of humor and if you ask him anything after class he takes the time to explain it. 3 tests, which he lets you use your notes on, he gives you credit for guessing. there are lab assignmens thoughout the semester for 6% of your grade.
If you go to class at least once every week then you will pass. His accent is a little tough sometimes but he is a very funny guy and very easy going. 3 tests and a final, he lets you use a formula sheet for them. I enjoyed his class.
Very nice professor- can teach fast at times- willing to help you with questions. Attend class, and you will learn. He is a funny guy and means well... just prove to him that you are trying and attend class, and he will notice.
Very nice professor. He's willing to work with you outside of class to make sure you understand the material. He curves alot on exams.
He is a great guy but his accent can be a bit confusing. Statistics is a very hard class on its own but if you have to take this class take it with him. Only take this class if you have to! You have to work in this class do not expect an easy grade. If you work you will pass it though.
He's a nice man and helpful. But his accent is very thick! He is willing to help you and he doesn't grade to harshly. Test are similar to exercises in the book for each chapter. Mini-tab is hard on its own so read the section before lab. He's nice but hard to understand sometimes and he moves fast in class. I would take him again.
Nice, kindhearted man but not the best professor. I have no idea how I passed to be honest, I was more confused in this course than anything. Alot of outside tutoring helped.
Professor Shilov is the sweetest man ever!! This class is not hard if you pay attention in class and he curves all of his exams. Not a tough grader at all! He really cares about his students - take him!!
I took his class during the summer and he is SO nice. His accent makes lectures a little hard to follow but if you spend some time outside of class to understand the material it's not hard. We didn't have any assignments, just 4 easy tests. We did labs in class but none of them were actually graded. He also handed us points "as a gift"
Honestly the nicest guy ever! The class was so easy and relaxed compared to other statsmath classes I've had in the past. He really wants you to succeed. Everyone should take him for this class if you can. For summer at least you don't even need the textbook and there is no homework.
Overall pretty confusing teacher who is very laid back and has a good sense of humor. May be intimidating at first but don't worry it's not a hard class at all. Just tests and some labs (that were graded for completion). I pretty much taught myself the material before the tests and I was fine. If you put forth an effort it should be an easy-ish A.
Professor Shilov is such a sweetheart. He wants all his students to pass but he has a DEEP russian accent but besides that, he is a good teacher. If you miss a class, it's not a big deal. Plus he gives you time to re do the work. 4 exams that make up the majority of the grade (including the final). and the labs are 6% which he gives us as a gift.
His accent was very thick which made it hard to concentrate, and would get distracted on my phone and computer. Attendance does not matter, but would highly recommend showing up. I found myself doing poorly on the exams, but that is my fault for not studying hard enough or paying attention. Very sweet man, and cares about your grade.
Professor Shilov has the best intentions for his students but his russian accent is SOOO deep. You can barely understand him half the time but he's a sweetheart. Only 4 tests, doesn't collect "suggested hw." Half the class is labs but he's going over them with you. Gives 6% as a gift.
Professor Shilov truly means well. He's a sweet man with the thicket russian accent you will ever hear in your life. Occasionally I'd be convinced he's speaking russian to the class. He's passionate and knows what he's talking about but it extremely hard to follow. Too often I got distracted by my laptop because he doesn't care what you do.
he's the kindest. He let me for extra time to take a test. His Russian accent is really so it took me a while to get used to it. Plz study after class that will help. he is willing to help u before n after class. His jokes r funny. he's really chill. he is tolerant on tests. Only 3 tests n 1 final n u can use a formula sheet except for the 1st:)
Prof Shilov has an amazing heart. He is passionate about the subject and his smile is contagious. Unfortunately his accent is very heavy and hard to follow. Listen hard and you might be able to catch a few words. Due to this I typically spent the class period playing games on my phone. An A is possible if you pay the utmost attention.
He is a really sweet man but he has such a heavy accent and is all over the place when he is teaching. I literally lost the entire class and didn't even know what we were learning.
Buy the textbook or attend class. Thick accent. You can tell he wants his students to do well, but his lectures are so dry I find it hard to pay attention. 4 tests in total and you can use a formula sheet. No homework is collected.
Great teacher. He has a thick russian accent but has no trouble explaining the concepts. If you try your best in the class you wont fail regardless, he is all about giving you a chance. No homework is collected and grade is based off 4 tests and a few labs. Great dude and teacher. I did well despite feeling like I failed every test lol.
Where does one begin? First, his accent is so thick it's near impossible to understand what he's saying. But the largest problem is how insanely boring this class is. Mr. Shilov does almost nothing to make class engaging and quite frankly it feels like a waste of time to show up. Most times, students just do the homeworks while he's teaching.
He is the sweetest and nicest professor. He actually cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Is he hard to understand? Yes. Is it hard to pass? Yes and no. Take the time to go to the peer led sessions and ask questions and you can pass. It is a difficult class? Heck yea but out of all the math 231 professors he is the best.
Very nice man. Statistics was very difficult for me in general but his teaching style made it harder. I struggled to grasp a lot of the basic concepts that most people got with other math professors that taught the same course. Stay away if possible. I'm not sure why universities don't value the math department or take care of their students.
