Dr. Ghazarian is a great teacher. Chemistry is a really intimidating subject but he makes it so the students can understand. The teacher is very nice and will help anyway he can. I wouldn't say this class is easy and of course you have to put in effort as well, but since he curves according to the average of the class, it's not hard not to pass! Hi
I took Dr. V at another community college and I have to say he's an amazing professor. He's very knowledgeable and every professor should be like him <3
This class was challenging. Lots of reading, and its pretty fast paced even through out the 16 weeks. Takes a lot of time, but if you work hard you can definitely get the A!
Teacher was cool but he would lead you to believe what was going to be on exam and once you got exam it was totally different. I passed but some people and i mean most were lost on the test. He picks favorites and thats why they passed. Class was challenging but lectures and notes mis led you to what was really going to be on test.

good professor. he's very helpful in both lecture and lab. the way he teaches makes chemistry look a bit easy BUT when it comes to the tests you really need to study and learn the material. the material is not that hard but you really need to put effort into studying or you will be lost when the tests come around. use his advice and you will do ok
Professor Ghazarian is a great professor i highly reccomend him, he makes his lectures so clear and easy to understand. Also he makes sure he installs what he will ask on his tests into your head, any person who does not pass his class is for lack of a better word lazy. He lectures with passion which is what makes his class fun and interesting.
Dr. Ghazarian was super cool and he answers all your questions he's very encouraging and he really cares about you and your sucess. He goes fast in lecture but will explain twice if needed. I loved his class but IT WAS HARD and to keep up you will need the book and will need to do homework..... but it pays off.
Love Dr Ghazarian he is the best chem professor. Helpful, study and read and ask questions he will help. Fun guy :) He prepares you for all midterms and final a chapter a day for 16 weeks yes i know it flies fast. I strongly recommend to take him you won't regret it....
He was amazing. I had never taken a chem class other than a crash course in nursing school. He was so very helpful and actually cared about helping those in need. He hates it when youre late... trust me ;D Tutoring is a must and so is the Plato but it's all worth it in the end. Greatest Science prof I ever had.+ he's super cute too

He is super hot and doesn't even know how huge of a distraction that is. Overall he is an excellent professor. Dr. G. is very passionate about his job which make him more attractive! Chem is not an easy subject but he makes it very approachable. I look forward to all his lectures. I don't think he has any idea that he is that good of a professor.

I LOVE Dr. Ghazarian! He is not very attractive but onced you have sat through his lecture you would be a fan. Anywho, great professor, he truly cares about his students and is very passionate about what he is teaching. If you put in the time and study you will pass the class. He does give you study guides before the test, if you ask.
Take him ONLY if you're a post-bach or retaking the class. Skimped on lectures, tricky tests, and showed little interest in his students. Would come to class unprepared and filled lecture time with pep talks. Some people LOVE him because he is easy, but if you plan on furthering your education, SKIP! If not, you WILL pay the price in the future.
He's very helpful and is willing to help you with any questions you have. He will take the time to explain things so you get a full understanding of the topic & He's not bad on the eyes.
At the begging he seemed easy but on test day he would throw in something he didnt teach in class. Some times I felt that he was talking down to us as a class. If your serious in learning i dont recommend him unless you like him cause he young and cool.
He has good and interesting lectures but his tests cover way further than what we've learned in the lectures. If u wanna pass the class w/ high grade, read the book, always read the book + listen 2 his lectures
I actually liked the way he ran the class. He wasn't big on lectures but his problem sets were sufficient enough. His exams were on the easy side. Yes, there were a couple of tricky questions but they were worth only five points, so no big deal. Generous grader and many of his lectures were actually interesting/enjoyable.
He's so easy.But for ones that have no idea about chem, learn ur own by reading book. No homework. Easy A class. Took another pro if u like challeges

A good professor, explains the concepts really well, BUT HE DOESN'T DO MUCH PRACTICE. His exams are really hard, BUT HE CURVES. One of the exams the A was from 60%. Very EASY LABS, and he gives 2% EXTRA CREDIT for the whole class without doing anything.
Spends 3/4 of the class time talking about his teaching methods rather than actually teaching chemistry. Most of your learning will be on your own time, don't rely on his lectures for understanding.
"You can lead a horse to a stream, but you can't make it drink the water" So don't be a horse, take Dr. Ghazharian if you have the opportunity. He won't reiterate what the books will teach you, rather he spends most of the time to make sure you UNDERSTAND the material, which is better. There are a few Professors at ELAC that are at his caliber.
This teacher does not care about teaching. He was late every day to class. You will learn everything on your own. If you want to further your education in chemistry do not take him. If you just want a good grade which is not guarantee, if you have problem learning on your own. Stay away. He curve grade but its not guarantee A
with this professor you will be learning chem 65 on your own. he explains things once, DOES NOT DO ANY EXAMPLES to help you practice. and moves on very quickly. i went to his office to get extra help, he sent me to the math labs and told me to watch youtube videos on it. and i quote "this is college,if you cant keep up, then you cant keep up"
Had him for Lab and got an A for it. He's lenient on labs, as long as you show up to every lab and do the work you will get full credit. On another note, I'd avoid him for lecture. He teaches very fast pace and is very confusing and unclear. He reviews many times in lab but I still do not understand his method of teaching.
i strongly recommend to take it with Dr.Ghazarian his a very good teacher he curves grades test are not hard if you study i do strongly recommend you read your book because he goes off topic at times and will confuse but just focus and you will be good and pass i took it on the summer and passed Good Luck!
His lectures are clear and he shoots through chapters quick, so study hard and take good notes. He doesn't use any power points so youtube everything(it helps a lot)and his test questions are mainly based on his lectures,you only use the book to do practice problems.
if u are good at chemistry , take him. If u only need one chemistry class , take him. if u want to learn chemistry and need to continue to take other chemistry classes, don't take him because u will not prepare to the next level . nice guy easy lab , generous grader. the opportunity cost is you won't learn anything .

Dr. Ghazarian is honestly one of the best Chemistry teachers I've ever had in my life. Everything made sense to me and his love of Chem transcends the classroom as he would always give us the practical applications of the Chem we were learning. Oh and he looks like 2008 General Zod or Evil Edward Norton.
The worst professor I ever had. He always absent & comes late every class. Although you got full credit (70 out of 70) on your test and lab, the final exam (30% of your grade) will drop your grade coz about 60% questions on final are not from your book. If you never learn chemistry or don't have any concept about chemistry before, DON'T TAKE HIM.
Dr Ghazarian challenges students to think outside the box instead of simply regurgitating information, "like a parrot". The class is taught in a university format. Do not expect to simply come to lecture and expect to get an A, you will need to read the book and do practice problems on your own time. Knowledgeable and highly recommended prof!
Worst teacher I've ever had! Avoid taking him at all costs if you want to continue to the next course, he will not teach you anything. In lab he sits in the corner and kicks is feet up on the table. You wont learn anything and will be in 102 learning how to write your labs. As far as lecture, he just rambles. Avoid this ego centric teacher.
Dr. Ghazarian is an awesome professor! If you are a chemistry major or simply want to learn chemistry past the basics, take him! It's evident he is passionate about chemistry and scientific inquiry and loves to impart this knowledge onto those willing to listen. You'll be walking out of class knowing something new! He talks about a lot of different things in class that is not related to topics in the book or about questions on test. He grades on a "sliding" curve. sometimes there will be weird questions on the tests. But if you attend class, take the tests and do the labs you will have a very good chance passing the class.
If you care about learning chemistry, take him. If you care about getting a good grade, take him. He's the whole package!
Dr. Ghazarian is one of the most amazing professors I have ever met throughout my whole education journey highly recommended he cares so much for his students all he wants is success for everyone his knowledge is no where else to be found he knows so much. He wants everyone to succeed he believes everyone is capable. hes my motivation!
Dr. Ghazarian is an amazing professor, but I wouldn't have been able to pass this class without the assistance of his TA Gabriel Cruz. The supplemental instruction sessions provided by Mr. Cruz helped me understand the concepts more thoroughly. I highly recommend these Chemists, you will get far taking them.
Really liked his class. His lecture will inspire you not only your study but your life. Speak of the test, you gotta work really hard if you are not good at math cause approx. 70% of the test is gonna be the calculation.
Dr. Ghazarian is one of the best Chemistry professors. Chemistry is a tough subject but he explains it in such an excellent manner. Prior to taking his class I was lost, I even failed a couple of classes with some professors that only care about a paycheck. But Dr. G makes me love and understan chemistry, I might even change my major! Thanks Dr. G!
Dr. Ghazarian, best professor ever! So full of energy! As soon as he walks into the classroom, he's already teaching! Take notes of everything he writes up on the board cuz it'll be on the test. He won't throw in tricky questions. He totally changed my perspective of chem n life. Truly inspirational. His good looks however made it hard to focus.
Taking him for summer. He's AMAZING!! He goes into the basics,&makes you LEARN by going out yourself & taking the time to understand throughly(Into your LONG TERM MEMORY). He accomplished to captivate me with the knowledge he has. Being young and knowing everything he knows is inspiring + he's hot. Vicky's SI's are amazing!She's such a GREAT HELP.
Taken during Summer 2015. Three exams all graded on class average. First exam on sig figsconversionsnomenclature. Second exam on balancing chemical equationslimited reagent. Final exam on biochemorgo. I found the SI sessions very helpful. Combination of lectures, SI sessions, and YouTube will guarantee a passing grade. Highly recommend!

I took him because he the most popular professor at ELAC. He is helpful but the usual. Chemistry is a hard subject and to learn everything in the short term was harder. The lab was just not fun for me I enjoy the lectures more.
His test are mostly math calculations, measurements,significant numbers, convertions , mole, etc. hardly no definitions and not multiple choice. So make sure you have math knowledge and a good calculator and make sure to show work

I took him for the spring 2016 semester unfortunately I had to drop his course with a W. This class was just too difficult for me and there was no way of me passing it. I really struggle at this and the conversions really confuse me and he teaches at a fast paced.
Ghazarian has a beautiful soul! He is a bright man who really posses a passion for encouraging others to learn. For those who say he's tough are honestly just being lazy his lectures are clear and helpful they make you understand chem rather than just remember equations, stay on your game & you'll pass ask questions if you're lost he wants to help!
His teaching method is all over the place. Majority of the time he is late. He hides in his office majority of the time, and leaves the student to work on the assignments.
Professor is the greatest professor I have taken at ELAC. I went into his class afraid of failing since chemistry was not my thing. I finished the class with an A. He made me LOVE chemistry. His lectures are so detailed and fast paced so i do recommend a recorder. He touches the basics of chemistry so detailed and clear it ENGRAVES in ur brain!
Awesome professor! Really smart guy! He is a busy a person but he loves to teach chemistry. Straight forward with his lectures but at a really fast pace. He tries to help you get the grade you deserve. Don't be lazy! I did not buy the book, take a lot of notes and study with your classmates.

Gazarian is not helpful at all. He doesn't dedicate himself to his students. During his class he goes and hides in his office. Where is the dean of the Chemistry department? Students do whatever they want to during the class session. Who hired this person to College. It is shame. I hesitate to call him professor.
Took him for winter, one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Was late every single meeting, and disappears through out lecture. Good lectures but isn't really helpful. Didn't buy book, YouTube is your best friend. Gives practice test.

Ghazarian was late to nearly every class, including test days and the final day. He was absent at least once every week as well. He can be rude and pretentious. Since he was absent and late so often, I found that we had to self-teach. Youtube videos were my savior. I don't recommend you take him if you are unable to self-study. No HW just tests/lab
One of the toughest subject I have taken by far. He is constantly late to every class, doesn't explain or teach thoroughly to help prepare you for the exams that he personally creates for each semester. If math is your weakness, you are guaranteed to fail his class. Exams are NOT multiple choice. All answers must be from your memorization.

The professor was good. He can sometimes be a bit, tough on us. He was absent never knew why, none our buisness. Yes, most of the things we had to learn ourselves but, he did gave us what to expect on tests. He can be a little intimidating by his strong personality but, he tries to reach out to his students. Dont expect him, to baby you. Just try.
I took his class Chem 65 & 102. He is the greatest professor I have ever met. If you follow his lecture very carefully you dont even need to read the test book. He might take the whole lecture time for just one calculation problem, for students to understand the concept of calculation. Final is difficult. But He always gives you what you deserve.
Deplorable instructor to say the least, does not uphold to the same standards he expects from students, stands in front of class waves around his marker and presumes he taught the class. And should you have any questions you can see him after class which you guessed it, never there. Save yourself and your GPA, embarrassment to the department.

By taking his class be prepare to be discriminated because he feel that he is the only person that knows chemistry. He used to boast about his Ph.D. Run while you can!

I took professor for Chemistry 51 Lab portion only. The professor did miss a lot and was often late. Also, he would leave classroom and expected us to complete the lab on our own. He did answer our questions and was helpful when he was in class. I ended up dropping the course because I had a difficult time with two professors (lecture and lab).
Took for him Chem101 and I got an A. However, for Chem102, I got a B, due to the ACS exam. He is a pretty nice professor and wants students aim high by transferring and graduating. He does understand peoples situations. His tests were pretty difficult, but he does give out worksheets that nobody really does, so do IT!
Late to every class. Extra practice problems you'll need to find on your own. Lectures are concise. Provides plenty of handouts and previous semesters exams. Gives extra credit quizzes. Answers questions as long as you ask and gives partial credit as long as you show work. Great teacher, but expect to put in work to keep up as he goes fast.
Worst professor ever! The class was online due to COVID and instead of posting lectures he would sporadically send out pages and pages of notes of difficult material for the students to teach to themselves. He was incredibly rude when anyone asked questions. And his tests were horrible - they comprise mostly of material not covered in the notes.
Professor is a joke.. Uses COVID19 as an excuse to be lazy and absent from his duties.. Did not teach for a second, not even a single zoom session. Uploaded old PDF's and vanished until after the exam. Seems to enjoy making condescending comments towards students when questions are asked. AVOID unless versed in Chem already.
Only 3 exams in total and one lab assignment. Exams are straightforward but not all the questions are based on his lecture notes. No HW, no zoom meeting. You just need to study the lecture notes by yourself. His lecture notes are very detailed and easy to understand.
No meetings, just notes that are posted on Canvas. Only 3 exams, 15-20 questions max. 1 extremely easy project. Final exam was only 14 questions and they were pretty straightforward.
Pro: straightforward lectures and worksheets, no money on textbook/programs. Cons: definition of an absent professor. He posts his files, and google teaches you the rest. Graded on only 4 things so you better not mess up anywhere. The most annoying thing is that tests are easy but locked after taking them, so you don't know what you did wrong.
An ok professor, he's not really there but u can email him. lectures are packets/then he provides a worksheet packet with it/gives 3 exams(100 pts each) and a take home lab (100 pts) (thats actually fun and cool). He doesn't allow you to see what u missed on exams. straight forward guy but u have to do extra work to understand class material. GL!!!
Cancelled class half of the semester. Lecture does not fully cover topics on test. Uses ACS exam for final which required heavy self-studying and can make or break your grade. Always emphasizes asking "specific questions" rather than asking him to solve a problem out. On the brighter side, lectures are easy to understand. Sadly not enough lectures.
Other reviews are accurate, but it wasn't much of an issue for me. Is absent often due to being chair of the department; labs and lectures are cut quite a bit. There are the occasional labs, 3 midterms, and a final. The final is the ACS Exam, which includes some stuff he might not cover. Doesn't use Canvas, but he provides copies of chapter notes.

Took him for Chem 101 and 102. Yes, he cancels class a lot BUT he truly is a great prof and made me really love chem. His lectures are similar to the exams and he bell curves everything. Plus he gives us really in-depth outlines for each chapter w/ examples. HW is optional but it helps study for exams. He's also hilarious. 10/10 would recommend

Professor Ghazarian has a specific teaching style, but engaging with it pays off. His lectures are worth attending, and the free textbook is aligned. Use Unstuckstudy, ChatGPT, and worksheets to prepare for the challenging but fair exams.
Only grades lab and 3 exams. He also doesn't teach when he actually decides to show up. No respect for students' time as he is always late. He usually gets sidetracked while talking and will go over 2-3 qs the entire lecture, not offer any resources, and expect you to learn entire concepts without teaching them. And he is on the board of directors!
