Very knowledgable about psychology. Has many life experiences to describe things he talks about in class. Test have essay questions that require about 1-2 pages to completely answer to his liking. Put the time in and you can have an A.

He is courteous, understanding, and makes every effort to ensure that the material he teaches is clear and understood, and makes it interesting while he does it. Quizzes and tests are a breeze if you study for them. If you're interested in psychology, I highly recommend this class!

great guy, great professor, great attitude. This is what I expect from a psychologist. If you are expecting to go to class without reading and simply use the notes he gives you, this isnt the class for you. He doesnt write much on the board, you have to read and take your own notes. Be prepared but relax, he knows his stuff.

Very nice guy. Understands life for a college student so he doesnt pack on any work. Lectures about the chapter as if he was the book, but doing your own reading should be helpful also. Easy if your interested and my favorite college prof. I ever had!!! Styling Beard also.

Vahan is a good teacher, in that he's nice, simple, and easy. All his notes are from the book, so much in fact that you don't have to read them. All his tests are in the same order as your notes, sometimes his questions answer each other they're so simple! If you miss a class, just read the book and you'll have it all. Paper was the worst thing

Vahan is pretty awesome and he's totally open to theories and the opinions of others. In his night class we had quizes every class, but he lectures on the material prior to taking the quiz. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and there is pretty much zero homework. Awesome teacher with some wonderfully entertaining stories!!!!

Mr. H made class fun, he engaged all the students and loves what he teaches. I really enjoyed the class. There was lots of homework but if you read the book then you should be good to go. I would love to take more classes with him. He is down to earth, understanding and fun. I totally recommend taking a class by him.

One of the best teachers at butte that I've had! He really makes it easy to understand. He curves the tests most of the time. He's very friendly and funny, and very knowledgable. If you like having mini quizzes then this class is good for you. These quizzes really helps prepare you for the exam. I have found that they're harder than the real test!

Great class! If you show up take notes and listen you do not need to read the textbook. He gives little quizzes for each chapter but if you listen in class you don't need to study. Very easy class and really great teacher (he even recognizes you outside of class). I highly recommend it!

Mr. H is an amazing proffesor! I had him from 6:30-9:20pm on Wed nights and he made it extremely enjoyable. He is funny, helpful, and wants all of his students to succeed! He is the best teacher I have had a Butte College :)

He's just wonderful. You really do not need the textbook, he even lends one of his books to the library for students to check it out. Class is pretty easy. Hovsepian is really laid back, if 1/2 class fails an answer than he removes it off exams. Class is mainly based on exams, weekly quizzes, 1 research paper, 1 mandatory LRC workshop & extra credit.

Mr. H is an awesome teacher! Everyone will seriously love this class! It is so interesting and he always makes sure that everyone is well prepared for his tests and is very thorough with the material that will be on the tests. I had his class once a week, so it was 3 hours but it was seriously so enthralling that I actually looked forward to going!

Absolutely loved this class! As long as you attend every class and take good notes, there's no reason to fail any of the chapter quizzes. I don't think I ever cracked open the book except to do the essay questions for the final exam which we were allowed to do at home. I highly recommend this class.

By far the best teacher! Make sure you read the chapter and take notes. There will be a test and or quiz every week to make sure you are reading the chapter. Pace yourself and the reading should come easy to you. I love this topic and teacher very much! I would recommend this teacher to you!

Definitely read. new edition is not necessary, and he often references the old one. He expects you to read and WILL test you on it, so he prepared. His class notes are very clear/concise and he incorporates a lot of great examples from his life/past careers. Quizzes often, but they're easy. Don't text in his class, he will actually make you leave.

Vahan is a very good teacher. He has a sense of humor, which is always a huge plus with teachers! Read all those E answers and listen to him in class and you'll enjoy being in class. He has real experience as a psychologist and really knows what he's talking about, he wants you to read the text book but it's not a requirement. Definitely take him.

This teacher is amazing,he knows what he is talking about and it very nice. Homework is rare. One paper on a topic of your choice. All quizzes are multiple choice and all "end of section test" have a two page essay you have to write in class, no notes. Thats probably the hardest part of the whole class. Amazing class though, i highly recommend it.

My major is psychology, so this was my first introduction and I loved his class. He has worked in this field so he has relateable examples for each chapter and what were discussing. Quizzes mainly from book, exams from lectures & book. Great humor. Would take another of his classes in a minute. Study & work hard and you can get an A. I did.

His voice is very soft, which I found it hard to learn. I don't like the way he teaches though. He is an alright professor. Nice and simple. I wish he was more energetic like Alee Kreamer.

I took the class because it worked with my schedule and it fulfilled a requirement for the degree. I ended up enjoying the class and his teaching style.

Very funny! Very clear in lectures. Lots of funny stories from his professional life that pertain and clarify the subject matter. Fair and clear about grading. Assignments, quizes, and tests are scheduled from day 1. When a sizable % of students miss the same test/quiz question, he throws it out. Perfect attendance is good for extra credit.

Absolutely awesome teacher! His experiences throughout his career in Psychology and stories keep you entertained every day. With this being said he loves to talk and have discussions that are incredibly involving. His lectures are basically the whole class and the last 15 minutes is a quiz every week on EXACTLY what he talked about.

Professor H made his lectures very interesting. He keeps you engaged in discussions and is quite funny at times. He is however, a tough grader, I've never had so much homework, reading, quizzes, essays, etc since starting back to school. He challenges your mind and makes you think. If you like a challenge, I recommend this class.

I really enjoyed having Mr. Hovsepian as a teacher because he made the material easy to understand through in class examples. I think it was easier for me because I was interested in PSY to begin with so it was fast for information to stick. He teaches almost if not all of what is on the test every day so take good notes and don't miss class!

The class I took was nearly three hours long on a Monday afternoon and I loved going to class every time. Quiz for every class but we review the chapter before the quiz.

Pretty good teacher, clearly enjoys what he teaches. His grading policy is clear. Barely any homework, tons of extra credit. His exams are not designed for failure, basically if you showed up to class you should have no problem with the exam if you study for 30 minutes the night before. He lets you use an outline for the essay portion, so use it.

He is very easy to listen to, and explains things in great detail. If you don't understand, he will make sure you do! His essays are sort of hard to grasp, but he will explain them after class if you need him too. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES

There are quizzes mostly everyday but he goes over it with a lecture, so it's very hard to fail. With this in mind, don't skip his class or you miss a lecture and a quiz.

Amazing guy who inspired me to want to be a psychologist

He's an amazing lecturer with tons of real life examples that make it easy to understand. Usually there is a 10-20 question quiz once a week, but as long as you listen/take notes on the lecture and/or read, they are really easy to pass. He is also easily accessible in person and is very open to questions because he wants to be sure you understand.

Mr. H is such an amazing teacher! There are quizzes weekly but are easy if you read the chapter and listened during his lecture. He is hilarious and always brings his personal experiences into the classroom. He always has a joke to add in and is able to keep the class lively and engaged. Recommend 100%

I've been going to Butte for almost 4 years and I can honestly say, he's one of my favorite professors I've had. Took him for both Psy-1 and Abnormal Psychology. He makes it interesting and brings in real life stories. Reading is expected and I had to write a reseaarch paper for both classes. Would HIGHLY recommend.

It was a pleasure having Prof. H as my instructor. I took AP psych in high school so this class was almost entirely review for me. However, through his thorough and engaging lectures I managed to learn more than I could ever find in a single textbook. He is funny and provides lots of anecdotes. Be prepared to read the textbook for regular quizzes.

I've heard great things about in-person classes but mine was online. No contact with the professor just do work assigned. Read about psychology and take quizzes, exams and write discussions. Seems approachable with questions so don't be shy! Best of luck

I took his class a few semesters back and I absolutely loved his class. He is very understanding and pretty patient. If you aren't slacking off in his class, he will work with you no things. He is also very helpful and gives good feedback, as long as you ask for it. I would definitely recommend his class.

Vahan is a very nice professor. He creates a study guide for each chapter each week which is very helpful. He seems to be very passionate about abnormal psychology. There's no late assignments allowed whatsoever, but he only assigns like two assignments a week. I do highly recommend taking psy6 with him!

You should definitely take a course with Mr. H! He's really aware of his content and delivers it well. It was very easy to understand and then be able to relate it while taking quizzes. Very consistent with quizzes and lectures. The content was enjoyable and not too tough to grasp. 12/10 recommend, he's a great professor!

Good bit of reading for the class but makes summaries and slides which really helped me. Really only quizzes after every chapter and tests after every 4 no other homework, and I only wrote one paper in his class but it was for CAS workshop, best and easiest class I had only put 4 cause hes not too tech savvy so somethings got messed up but was fine

I loved this class! it was fairly easy, quizzes every week but if you read the summary/study guide provided you will do well. there is also lots of extra credit. exams are similar to the quizzes and there is no cumulative exam for the final. if you put in the work you will succeed.

I just finished my class. I learned a lot and truly enjoyed my time when studying the material provided. This was an online class. It was easy enough to keep track of all the assignments and due dates. He was very communicative, and accessible when I had questions. I would take more classes from him in the future.
