Hands down the best math instructor that I have ever had. He made it easy to understand and allowed us to work in groups. Extremely fair grader and sensitive to individual's needs. On top of all of that he is a great guy; just completely down to earth and funny which makes for an interesting class every single time. I will genuinely miss this class
This guy rocks!!! Seriously, take his class! It is not hard and he makes it easy to understand. The dude is the bomb and super funny too. Highly recommend this class.
Does not answer questions, gets frustrated easily! Doesn't give enough time for understanding before testing. Not good at explaining just does questions on the board. Does not care about the success of his students. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU CAN TEACH YOURSELF FROM THE BOOK.
Great teacher! I'm not a math major, and honestly can't stand the stuff. But school is school and you gotta get it done. I was fortunate enough to luck out with this Professor! He's great all around and if you need help he will always make himself available.
BEST TEACHER EVER! I never write reviews but he's so amazing I just have to. I recommend Vahe to everyone. He's truly the best math teacher ever. He really cares for his students passing. His tests are super straightforward and he's really corky and funny. He makes class fun. He's super amazing. Probably the best math teacher I have ever taken ever
Mr.K really is an awesome teacher. He is very clear on all his work, his teaching is simple. I was dreading on taking math after not taking it for about 6 yrs. he made me feel confident on test days. He makes sures all students are on the same page, if not he clarifies what is not understood. He's funny and makes the mood light. I recommend him!!!
I love him. He is the most amazing teacher ever! Never have I loved math as much as when I took it with Vahe. I minor in Statistics all because of Vahe, that's how amazing he truly is. Really really good at teaching.
In the beginning of the semester, he was really great. About a month into the semester he decided to start giving daily quizzes that are extremely difficult. He also decided that hw will only make 5% of the grade, and the quizzes will make the other 5%. Tests are quite difficult, and he refuses to even look at your paper when you have a question.
Gets easily frustrated when students do not understand the material and assumes some people are joking. Midway of the class he started using the lecture slides from the book, which are confusing. Seems to rush the lecture just to get us out, and some lectures last twenty minutes. Four tests and a cumulative final. Fail the final, fail the class.
He's one of the most down to earth teachers at MC. He's super funny. However he is very specific on what he expects on tests. Homework is assigned every class, expect quizzes (but you can use the homework as a reference), and study the homework. Hard tests, but you are allowed a cheat sheet! Class always gets out early.
This math's not easy but Prof K does his best to make it as easy as he can to learn it. The class structure really worked for me, my grade wasnt just based on exams alone but the entire work we did (HW, exams, quizzes, exams, final). If u mess up theres plenty of work to build a grade cushion. I feared this math coming in but left happy coming out!
Khachadoorian rushes through material. He makes students feel intimidated to ask for help. He makes smirk comments. I'm not here to bad mouth him. I think he's probably a cool person outside of class. However, if math doesn't come natural for you, don't take him. Unless you want to spend hours in the tutoring center.
On two exams, out of a class of 45, the pass rate was 10 or less. He blamed us for this. In the last lectures, he started giving quizzes daily, because, and I quote, "because I can." He was big on getting into group The only good things I have to say about him is that he was good about ACCESS accommodations, and a nice person, but awful teacher.
He has a tendency to rush through the material, so if math doesn't come natural for you, take someone else. Class was pretty straightforward. Tries to answer most questions. Homework isn't mandatory but you will definitely fail if you don't do it.
Math will always be math no matter what teacher you take it w. Mr. K was a great teacher. If you ask questions, he will help you. Sometimes he skips steps but if you ask him how he got there, he'll go back & show you. HW isn't mandatory but you can use on quizzes! Test questions are usually taken from book. No EC so do your best! Would take again!
He's the best math professor. I took Math M03 and he explains clearly and If you don't understand he explains you over and over until you get it.
Prof. K is a good teacher. If math isn't your thing, you will have to put in the time and effort (religiously do the hw, ask questions, go to math tutoring). Expect to study at least 3 hours for every test if you want an A. He gives a quiz every week and most are group quizzes. Really funny too!
Professor Khachadoorian explains thinks fairly clearly. Homework is not mandatory, however if you want to do well you MUST do the homework. He has at least one quiz a week and you can use your homework. Test questions are from the book. If you study and put in time you will do well. He is also pretty funny.
This was my second time taking M07 so i was scared going into the semester, but Prof. K explained everything so clearly. If you didn't understand, he would not hesitate to go back and explain to you. he's also really funny, so it makes learning math more fun. i'm signing up for his calc class as we speak
Good Teacher. He just has his rules. Follow them, listen, and don't get on his bad side. He likes questions
Precal was extremely difficult and Vahe was a great teacher. He goes through the material very fast, he will answer your questions if you have any but i would save them for after class. He also has office hours. Do your homework. Go to tutoring. Go to math lab. Put the work in and you will do well. MATH IS NOT EASY.
Best math teacher I have ever had. He breaks down the math to the most basic and easy to understand level for people and tries to get you through the content fast and easy. Didn't require and homework to be turned in, the grading is solely based on quizzes and tests. Very helpful and will ask if anyone has questions or needs clarification.
He is a good teacher especially if your new or this is your first semester at moorpark. He does give hw but it is not collected or graded. If you study up and pay attention in class you will do well. Also, his quizzes are sometimes group assignments. If the class takes more than 20 min in his quizzes he will make it a group thing.
It's calculus and it's hard. He does give lectures, mostly based off the book, and if you pay attention and ask questions you'll be likely to understand. DO THE HOMEWORK and go to him for help.
I had him for M03 algebra. Class goes by really quick and he's super cool when it comes to grading. We have quizzes every week but sometimes he makes them group quizzes, especially towards the end of the semester. He has the best intentions for his students and tries to get them to pass. Really funny too and will let us out of class early sometimes
Vahe is a good professor! For being a math professor he speaks great English! He is straight to the point and will go out of his way to help you!
He was super nice but he teaches extremely slow, if you took algebra 1 or 2 in high school and got a good grade don't take this class!!!
Had an all around good experience with this professor. He gives you the feeling that he is there to help you and that he wants you to pass. I've had a bad experience with another M03 professor last semester but now i feel confident and ready to take on more math. Thanks professor K.
took for calc and would NOT take again, class started with more than 40 ppl and ended with about 20, the average of all the tests and quizzes were around 50% and he would blame the class and refuse to curve, he graded harshly and barely ever gave partial credit, u could know the material back to back and fail the class with his grading
Extremely helpful, if you show him your hard work and ask him for help, he is there every step of the way. Class content is just difficult because its calculus, review your algebra and trigonometry before you start the class and you'll do better; don't make the mistake I did.
Very hard. Talked too fast and did not give easy tests. Boring lecturer as well
Pay attention. Attend class regularly. And for the love of God, PRINT OUT THE LECTURE NOTES
He is great professor. He MAKES you work for your grade. If you work hard and actually take notes and ask questions you will do well. He does care if your care.
He is great professor. He MAKES you work for your grade. If you work hard and actually take notes and ask questions you will do well. He does care if your care. If you don't come to class,he doesn't care that you will fail.
This class is focused on trig as well as building your calc. Do the homework he gives. It gets confusing at times, but he is helpful in his office hours. I say this class requires about 10 hours a week studying if you want the A. DONT LEAVE EARLY IF HE ENDS LECTURING!! He often gives hints on quizzes/tests and hw help if you stay and ask questions.
A very tough grader. If you struggle with math you probably won't pass. Dull lectures and he goes through material very fast. He offers little to no review and doesn't hand out study guides. He'll mark you down for the slightest of errors. He asks you print out lectures copied straight from the book. Assigns HW, but won't grade. Quizzes are hard.
Homework is not turned, there are quizzes and exams. The final consist of everything you have learned during the semester. Perfect teacher for those who are not great at math. He gives great examples on the board to help you see it and learn it. Awesome teacher!
Great teacher. Nice guy. Willing to discuss different paths to the same answer. He is super invested in making sure you understand what you are doing. His tests are time intensive and hard, but you walk away from the class prepared. Do all the homework. Take all the quizzes--which there are a lot of.
Vahe is a really funny and motivating teacher. He is a tough grader but if you practice the homework that doesn't have to be turned in, you will pass the quizzes and exams. He creates notes for you that are straight forward and useful to help you study. You get quizzes every class but the quizzes eventually turn into group quizzes.
He is a "tough love" kind of professor. Quizzes turn into group quizzes towards the end of the semester. Final is 30% of the class and HARD. I studied hours on end and couldn't pass his tests. He knows the material himself very well, but his tests are brutal. I'd say take another professor unless you want to kill your GPA. This class is a NO GO.
Professor K was awesome! Math M03 is a tough class for many students, and he makes that known at the beginning of the semester so make sure you put in the effort. Do your homework, even though it's not mandatory. He gives quizzes every week based on the homework. Also visit his office hours because he's very helpful outside of class too!
Prof. Khachadoorian, is one of the best teachers I've ever seen. He's very specific, Very helpful and tolerant I asked him if he teaches math M05 because i wanted to take another class with him. but unfortunately he doesn't
After a tough semester with precalc Professor K made me fall back in love with math again. He does outline the notes for you before class so for the love of God print them out so you can actually be involved. Aside form that he does open homework "quizzes" which consist of homework problems almost daily, so if you do the work your are golden.
I dont like that when Someone doesnt understand at the pace he prefers he seems to get annoyed and starts raising his voice . He makes comments that its not that hard and everybody should understand.... he doesnt seem patient.
prof. K is a great teacher. started using mymathlab this year so there will be alot of homework as well as an online quiz every other week, but cmon its math class of course theres gonna be hw. he does a great job at teaching and helping you understand the material. ALWAYS willing to help you/answer any question you may have. overall great guy
I dropped his class halfway through due to switching my major. I also was going to get a F in the class He's a nice guy but he just takes his lecture straight out of the book so there is that. If you fail his tests which you most likely will. You will be screwed as he only has 4-5 tests. A lot of people dropped his class. Take as a last choice
Prof. K is great, he is thorough with his lectures. If you didn't understand something he's more than willing to explain it again. Made himself accessible after class for any additional q's. Doesn't offer extra credit, but he's good with re-opening homework on MyMathLab after due dates. FOR ME this class was pretty fast pace and homework heavy.
He is a very nice person. But is as good as teaching as others. He is mainly all lecture. Even though he says it isn't required to do the hw... you have to. If you miss class you could miss the thing that changes your grade dramatically.
Decently nice guy but a horrible teacher. I probably spent 15 hours a week on this class alone because it's so work heavy. He says to spend extra time on certain things and then doesn't put them on the test. Puts random questions that we didn't cover on them. Zero extra credit and if you miss something small on the test he marks you off completely.
Math can be hard for some of us; it's M03 - complete Math Self-Placement Assessment , go to the Counseling Office to make sure you are ready for it. That being said, Mr K. is the reason why I changed my major to math. He is tough but he's honest and fair. He stays after class, in his office, to help those who want to pass. Math-can't pass w/o work.
Ended up dropping his class because I found it very hard. If you aren't naturally great at math I wouldn't take him. Lectures very fast, and tests were difficult. What really killed me was the hours of homework each night.
Kind of harsh, but genuinely wants you to pass. Might sound frustrated with you sometimes. Well worth it to contact him with questions outside of class if you're struggling. He let us work together on some quizzes, and it was very helpful.
it was difficult, but his notes are very clear. dont skip class! there is an obnoxious amount of homework, but i really think it was the repetition that helped me ace a couple tests. i struggled with some sections but before the final i told him i wanted an A and he had full faith in me. he cares about his students and wants to see them succeed
He's a fun teacher. Takes the subject seriously and knows his stuff. Will help anyone with questions, even if it is something that "you should know" from a previous course. He wants you to understand the topics. I suggest studying more than usual in the class for all tests. Homework isnt graded. Do what you know first on the final
Do all the Homework.
Just finished MO1 and I really enjoyed Mr. K, so chill and understanding. It is a lot of hours on aleks but so worth it, the program goes at your pace and is awesome. Would definitely recommend this professor. As long as you put in your work you'll pass with an A.
Mr. K is everything you want in a professor, particularly math. Really genuine, hilarious, kind, and caring-- he creates a great environment. He REALLY cares about his students understanding concepts, and wants to turn math haters into math majors. His teaching style makes calculus make sense! Make SURE to do the homework though.
He aight
Professor K is a good professor. He really teaches the subject well. But he doesn't grade any HW, gives little to no extra credit, and isn't availible a lot outside of class. I enjoyed him, I just wish he offered more support to students who struggle with math. That being said, he does want you to succeed and will support you if you show the work.
Professor Khachadoorian is an excellent calculus teacher. He may be tough, but you got to be tough too in order to succeed! He cares. Complete all the homework, attend every lecture, ASK QUESTIONS, go to the math center, pretend you will teach the material you just learned to another class the day after lecture. You can do this!
I feel that his tests are more difficult than the quality of teaching he provides. I'm quite studious and still found his tests challenging at times. Can make it work if you put in the effort and study through doing practice probs/hw. Work you put in grade you receive. Overall funny guy but may come across as snarky/rude. Go to tutoring for help.
Doesn't matter who you take the class with. M07 is six units. that shiz is HARD. I have a 4.0 and I have had a 4.0 for the last 5 years. I have two W's. both because of this class. It. is. hard. But Vahe is hilarious and I love him. He genuinely cares for his students.
This Professor is a great math teacher. Math is my hardest subject, he constantly reaches out and genuinely cares about his students.
Nice guy, but unless you're great at memorizing TONS of formulas, don't take him. Absolutely no formulas/notes or graphing calculators on tests. Quizzes are 20%, Tests 50%, and final is 30%. He literally expects you to memorize pages of formulas, and his advice is to get a tutor. I did all my homework, and it still wasn't close to enough
He is funny and loud. If you have a yelling trigger beware, he yells and curses but not usually intending to offend, it's just his personality. I brought a lizard to his class and he was spooked by it but wasn't angry about it. Very fun professor. I didn't attend some classes bc of depression and got a C by missing quizzes. Be there and youll pass.
He's tough. I took calculus 1 and 2 with him. In calc 2, quizzes consisted of 20% of our grade, the final was 30%, and exams were 50%. He doesn't take homework and instead wants you to do the homework to help understand the concept. He offers a 2% extra credit if you attend the math tutor 10 times. He may be tough, but he's a great professor.
changed class structure this semester, which can potentially help your grade;about 10 quizzes (mostly multiple choice);3 videos where you explain how to do the problem; 3 tests; a cumulative final; homework not graded;very funny and approachable dude and easy to vibe with;gives feedback on tests to help;tests are comprehensive (sometimes w/writing)
What I liked most about this professor were his concise and organized lectures. He is hilarious and cares about your success, AS LONG as you put in the effort to seek his help.
He wont let you have time to learn the information you can go through 3 chapters a week and expects you to know half of it by yourself and the other half we helps a little bit but overall dont take he acts like you only have his class and its too much hw and there are no breaks
Nicest prof. Ive ever had! Cares about your gade and wants to be in contact with you. His class is fun. Gives x-credit for tutoring and drops your worst hw grade. He replies to your emails the day of or day after you send them. He loves what he does. Hw is not that bad. All he wants you to do is to do just a little bit each day. Def take his class!
I actually took M11 but this is my third time taking a class by him and EVERY time was amazing! He is a really great professor and 100% cares about you and your grades. he does give extra credit for using the tutoring center and drops the lowest test grade. he often has an in class tutor to help, just do your work and ask questions! you'll pass!!!
Actively seeks ways to deduct credit. "Oh, you didnt properly annotate? Minus half credit for the problem." "Oh, you didn't write down 1^2 before writing down 1? Minus half credit for the problem." "Oh, you decided to read ahead because it's a summer course and you want to be ahead and prepared? ZERO!" Run. Look for another professor,or goto Ventu
run. take an online course at like SNHU or something.
Great class! I appreciate the feedback Prof Khachadoorian gave on exams and the review on pre-Calculus topics. Excellent lectures. Great online class. Prof Khachadoorian is one of the best math professors at MC.
An underrated professor! He has a reputation for being tough and mean, but he is genuinely a nice and caring man! He respects you and works with you to make sure you succeed. I took this class twice and he supported me throughout, both times. His teaching style isnt for the weak hearted, but he makes sure you understand the material completely.
Professor Khachadoorian is caring and is very approachable. You can pace yourself and finish early if you have the time. Highly recommended!
Took over the summer, but his lectures made the material easier to digest and understand. Homework not required, but CRUCIAL for really understanding the concepts. Very exact when it comes to notation and methods on tests. Be careful when using ANY resources on tests or a quiz, he looks for obvious signs of cheating. They are NOT open book/note/web
This is the most fun math classes I've ever taken. Mr K is so funny. Passionate about everything he says. HOWEVER Expect to do everything like he says or else he docs major points. 2/3 of the class dropped and the avg test scores were 50%. I was one of the fortunate 2 or 3 to get an A. Won't be taking him again but I had a great time.
This class is insanely difficult two thirds of the class have dropped. Not a single person in class has an A right now and I promise you there are many smart students in this class. This happens every semester and he blames the students. You will have to fight for a B from the first day since there is no curving, extra credit, or assistance.
A terrible teacher. absolutely screwed my last semester here at Moorpark. Half the class has either dropped or been dropped from the course. Despite being an online course exams are in person, notes are off limits and don't even try asking for a study guide, he'll call you weakminded! barely learned a thing, can't wait for it to be over!
Completely online, no lectures. Just posted videos for us to watch and had to do homework. Mine was an 8 week class, so I was constantly doing work for the class. It felt pretty difficult, but he bumped my grade from a C+ to a B at the end of the semester which I thought was nice.
Was an online class where you basically taught yourself. That wasn't the problem. The problem was no study guides are given. Also, the exams are in person and are only 8-10 questions however since there is no study guide it is extremely hard to narrow down what to study for. By the end of the semester only 8 students remained everyone else dropped.
Professor Vahe is a really funny dude. He really prepares you for Calc, which is why he grades kind of hard. He cares about his students and gives them opportunities to help each other with tests. We had a group test once, and literally, my group carried me. Do your homework, it helps!!
This class was very hard
This class was insanely hard and Calc 2 is already a difficult class but he made it 100x harder. Test questions were nothing like lecture/homework questions. Test averages were always 50-60% most people dropped the class. Wouldn't explain things well and didn't make himself accessible for office hours no matter how much you ask for help.
Mr K is a great math teacher who explains the concepts pretty well. Tests aren't hard if you keep up with the hw. He has prepared lecture notes but usually doesn't go thru every slide, so filling them yourself makes good practice too. He curses like a sailor and some may find it rather brash, but he's pretty funny and it livens the class.
strict grader, exams are hard. explains in the very beginning, you need to practice math everyday, and I'd agree. has office hours on zoom for one on one sessions, highly recommend. easy 100% for hw. group quizzes. show up to class, recommended. i was able to do trig and algebra at the same time. dont be embarrassed to say you're lost, he'll help
Ok so he is a great and difficult professor, BUT I love this professor because he actually push me to do better and if you are taking calculus and it is really important for your major then take him because he will prepare you so well. If you are a person that just wants an easy A and will not put effort in the class, then do not take him.
prof was nice, but a horrible teacher. He doesn't help you at all and if you ask for help with an answer on a test he tells you to look on canvas and not ask him. If he doesn't like an answer you have during group work he just makes a face and walks away, and if you ask for help he just says he doesn't like it. would not recommend for calc
Only tests count for anything. The lectures are from covid times. Just seems like lazy teaching.
equation he wanted me to do and my anxiety kicked in it was obvious I needed help. Instead, he started talking down to me aggressively and impatiently then told me to sit down. I just ran to the bathroom crying for 10 minutes cause of how disrespected and embarrassed he made me feel. He should NOT be a teacher if this is how he treats his students.
Took this class my first semester of moorpark and as an incoming freshman it was very tough, though professor is super kind and funny. This class was hard but math usually is. Met my boyfriend of two years in this class so it was worth it :)
Honestly the worst professor. Very unprofessional. Doesn't teach. When students ask questions, he is very rude. Has power trip. If you have other choice, do not take his class.
Uses recorded classes from COVID with other students in them and assigns homework that isn't graded. There are 4 exams including the final that are your entire grade. If you can't schedule an appointment for an exam, sucks.
Avoid this teacher at all costs. He is the worst teacher i've ever dealt with from lazy old lectures to not caring about his students. If you get sick and have to miss a test! Good luck he won't care and force you to go into take a test even if ur dying. I've never had a professor be so evil and not even say feel better. He shouldn't be a teacher
His review and lecture videos are outdated from 2020 and cut off. Once asked him for an answer key to one of the review sheets and he didn't have it. The homework does not help on the exams, the questions are much harder, so I would recommend using the book as practice instead. Marks points off of little things, so be right on everything.
This class was difficult, but Professor Khachadoorian is a great teacher who genuinely cares about his students. The material is challenging, but he's approachable and brings humor into his teaching. You need to ask questions and put in the effort, but you can do well if you do. Overall, it's a solid class if you're up for the challenge.
Lowest quiz is dropped, lowest test dropped for average of other tests. Homework isn't required but you should do all of it if you want to succeed. If you go to the library for 10 review sessions 30 min each he will give you a +1% boost at end of semester. He can be a bit blunt with his wording at times, but overall is good but challenging.
Prof is definitely a tough Professor and a tough grader. It is a flipped class so class time is reserved for working on problems. Only 2 people in the class got an A, so you do need to work hard to achieve that. He is a good teacher, but because of how his class is set up, your grade is determined on how hard you work.
This professor has a very specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, you can learn a lot. The lectures are helpful, and unstuckstudy can be a great study aid alongside the textbook. Just be prepared to put in the work.
This professor was a horrible teacher. Less than half way through the semester he stoped teaching and told us we had to teach ourselves everything then only ask questions in class. His teaching felt extremely lazy. He was never prepared and extremely rude when it came to asking questions. He also used profanity often when taking to his students.
This professor was so rude. He never taught in class, everything was learned on our own. He expects everyone to memorize every single formula. If a quiz or test is missed there is no makeup day and you get a zero. Very unprofessional.
Prof K is awesome. Idk why anyone says otherwise. Took his Math M05 class last year, he's a real funny guy and somehow made math entertaining. He doesn't enforce homework, but you definitely should do it anyway. His lectures sometimes are a bit fast, but if you pay attention and work with classmates you'll be fine. Most tests are also group tests.
While I lament that this class ended my multi-year straight-A streak, and will say that it's not for everyone, I do think he was a great professor. He had group quizzes and optional homework which helped a lot in the Summer. Nearly half the class dropped due to exams. The class was flipped, so we got to practice in class with real-time feedback.
This is my second time taking this professor. The first time it was in M07 and it was amazing. This course is a lot harder but Mr. K understands that calculus is hard and will do as much as he can to help. My best piece of advice is to do the extra credit tutoring sessions and go during office hours.
Khachadoorian is a good guy, but don't take his class unless you are good at calculus. We used a weird grading system: on a scale of 1-4, if you got a 1, you couldn't get an A. He promised us he would return to grading regularly, but after the drop deadline, he never did. LECTURES were not in class, and we were expected to watch them beforehand.
He was nice, and we got retakes, but the retakes were harder. The class was hard, and I was spending hours a day trying to prepare for tests. I wished for an earthquake to hit when we were taking tests and for the building to collapse so we could get more time. But if you dedicate yourself and already know calculus, you will be okay. mimimi
Professor K was a good professor overall and I would take him again. In terms of calc 2 the class is very difficult. Use any opportunity because most people need it. He was very receptive when answering questions but you had to be very upfront about things because that's how he works. He is picky about notation. He knows the subject well.
