smart and funny guy. class is a little tough but you learn alot.
Worst professor I ever had!! He has no people skills!!!
Professor Tatoian was somewhat difficult to understand, and his lectures were boring. I thought I was going to do really bad in the class, but ended up with a B. I guess that meant that everyone found it difficult to adapt to his teachign style.
He is the best professor I had ever have. He is Kind, smart, and likes smart student. His test is nothing but a little twist from his notes so taking good notes and understanding his lecture can knock out at least 80% of his tests.
Vahe is a excellent teacher. He is the best physics teacher i have ever met. He teach clearly with white chalk and he is funny.
I rated his class as pretty tough, but he explan the material very good and clearly.
I was busied writing notes in every lecture. so i ddidn't feel boring at all...i got an A, hohoho~~~~
His exam questions are not easy....stay calm while taking his exams (you cannot do well if you are panic). However, you better to understand all the things in your note. I think he is the smartest teacher in MSAC.
Great teacher. Really knows his stuff so he's able to teach it to you. He uses examples and jokes to lighten up the mood. I recommend him strongly. The only catch is that there are only 5 or 6 questions to his tests. So study well.
Reminds me of my hs math teacher who came from the same system. He's really smart, and a really good proffessor, not the easiest, but if you study hard, you will do fine.
I think if one has physics in high school, it will be very easy. He's not hard at all for 2AG!
He is very kind, intellegent, and caring. With that said, his class is hard. If you are not a physics person, you will have trouble. He does not really explain things clearly. The whole class I did not understand much but I still got a B.
VAHE IS AN ****. I GAURENTEE THAT YOU WILL FEEL THE SAME UNLESS HE LIKES YOU (i.e you are an asain girl) I HATE HIM WITH THE FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS. HE IS CONDESCENDING, UNHELPFUL, AND JUST A GENIUNE ****
Vahe is condescending, unhelpful, and is very unclear. Unless you are on his good side, he doesn't feel the need to help you in anyway in his office or elsewhere. All my freinds an I agree
Tatoian is crazy hard, mostly because he is very unclear and unhelpful. He speeds through everything extremely fast, not making sure the lessons are being learned. Everyone I talked to and I also think that he makes his homework problems a lot harder than any other physics teacher. Overall: BAD!!
he is a good teacher. His test is not hard.(not harder than the example on the book, I mean.)But,his lecture is a little bit behind the schedule. So, kinda hard at the end..
The smartest teacher at Mt. SAC, period. This guy has forgotten more than what most of the teachers know. Be sure you're able to keep up with his math, and you'll be alright.
he is very funny! "let's put some spice into this!" ; "get the smoooothie", "brute force"
Before you read all those other comments, read this one. DO NOT TAKE TATOIAN FOR 4A! YOU WILL FAIL!!!
Tatoian's exams do not test your understanding of the material - it challenges it. Be prepared for a rough road ahead if your thinking of taking him for either Mathematics or Physics... it won't be a easy ride unless your a natural at these kind of things.
he has 4 exams and 1 final, one of the worst grade of exam can be replaced by final.homework is for 10%.he is very nice and kind, and he can speak a little chinese,so cute.exam is so so, but you have to read and study for it.his grading is reasonable, overrall you can get a grade better than you imagine.exam's answer will be put on the web site.
Easy teacher, just pay attention, deal with the accent, and you'll be fine. Teaches from his head, (basically meaning that he doesn't use notes), very smart prof. very patient. Oh one more thing, he's really math based, he'll teach shortcuts which you should use on his problems. If you've had teachers from europe before, you'll know what to expect.
Easy class
he is a great teacher and has a good sense of humor. he likes to test u on different problems dealing with math, and he DOES care ur final results of calculatioin. very funny and helpful person. i strongly recommend him.
He is the best math professor I have ever had. I always struggles in highschool and with him I got an A!! He makes the class very fun! "Let's spice it up a bit." "BRUTE FORCE!!"
Smart Teacher. Hard Tests. The good thing is he gives curve. Suggestions: go thru the lecture notes before tests. He might give similar problems.
Do not take the summer session unless you have nothing else to do BUT Algebra. Six weeks is too short and rushed a pace and he becomes too impatient. Summer session can take an A student down to a C. Other wise, take his class in 18 week format.
He kinda does things his own way but is pretty good at explaining. He only collects hw problems that he makes up, about 1 every other week. Tests are sometimes hard. If you've never taken physics it will be easy at first then get way harder. Don't miss class or you'll miss a whole topic. You have to work for a good grade, but not insanely hard.
Didn't get it, boring.....
I had him for math 71 he is annoying and his jokes are stupid. He keeps bragging about his hometown of Russia. He is not patient and he expects you to know everything. I hated his class eventhough I passed with a B.
Mr. Tatoian is an excellent teacher. He knows like 50 languages including Arabic which is really cool. His class is fun and interesting. I dont know what that person below is saying his jokes were funny. I really liked his class. Thank You Mr. Tatoian
very hard to understand teacher, exams are not that difficult, if you are able to learn on your own, otherwise, he wont prepare you. EC given only during class disucssions, when he feels like it.
all i got to say is that he is a retard. learn english, no one understands you.
To previous comment. I think you're the one who needs to learn english; you can't even spell physics.
good teacher explains everything and friendly
his lectures were alright, but what i really disliked about his class was that he hardly ever reviewed for exams or the final.
His class was so hard, trust me,do not take his math class.his exam never seems like homwwork and example.so,you1 konw what i am talking about.
Are those guys f%&*in joking? Don't take this guy's classes if you are trying to transfer. He will ruin your life. If you aren't from China, he will ridicule you. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS IF YOU ARE TAKING PHYSICS 4A AND ABOVE.
Brilliant prof, so at times hard to understand. Teaches in great depth and very challenging exam questions. Some in-lecture examples beyond the scope of the class but he doesn't test on them. At times uses in-chapter sample problems for exams. Textbook, Resnik, is like him - deep in theory. Probably greatly prepares us for UC, even Berkeley.
I can understand why people would have difficulty with this teacher. I thought all the tests were easier than they should be for 4B, and homework was not part of the grade. His English shouldn't be much of a problem for native speakers of the language.

A brilliant professor with strong passion of teaching. The lecture is always fun, and the lab is extremely easy. The only problem is that his test is really hard.Recommended only for those who have great interest in physics (and smart).By the way, you REALLY NEED TO STUDY HARD in his class to get a decent grade.
GREAT! SWEET! JUST PERFECT!

Very smart man, teaches with extreme clarity. Gives numerous examples. He does his part, you just got to do yours.
His lecture is clear. His cl**** is not boring. Whenever I asked him, he always helped me. yeah.. on top of all, his cl**** is never boring. and his tests are.. not hard.. but not easy. Just you need to study hard. If you master what you learn and take tests, the tests would be easy. Anyway.. it's your job to study hard. :)
Like any other physics class, Tatoian's class is SUPER hard but that's not the problem. He IS condescending and a REAL jerk that will straight out embarass you if you're not one of his favorite students.
Took him for 2A and got an A. U need to participate in class (by answering questions etc) to succeed. Im taking 4A with him right now, eventhough he said that he's hard for 4A. He's very helpful. 95% of his 4C class last semester got accepted to UCLA/Berkeley. Recommended to ppl who are interested in physics. He was a student n a prof in Caltech.
I highly recommend this professor for people really interested in physics and engineering, he teaches you a lot of tricks that will put you ahead of the game over other students, they might be confusing at times, but he clarifies any doubs, if any. he is simply the smartest math/physics teacher i've had, i wanna be as good as him some day :D
Mr Tatoian is a good professor. His speech is very clear and helpful. One important thing to get a good grade is to take a good notes. Most test questions are very similiar with notes questions. At the beginning, the test is easy. But at the end the test is very hard, especially for the final.Make sure you get above 95 for first two tests to get an "A".
Tatoian is an awesome teacher! I had a lot of fun in his class. He is great as a person and also as a teacher. He is very friendly and helpful. His tests are easy if u understand the materials well. However, physics is not an easy subject, so dont get lazy!Just do your part, then u will enjoy the course with a fair grade, A. :]
he is hard and doesn't teach weel the new material a lot of self-studying
Did not explain things well. Was totally confusing and then was frustrated when no one knew what was going on.
He's an awesome prof!!! i highly recommend him!! You just have to take good notes and pay attention in class to get good an A!!! I got A on every single test he gave us! study the notes cuz the test problems are all similar to them!!
Don't come into this class expecting it to be a breeze. It's not easy but I enjoyed it. Study all his notes and you will be fine. I never read a single page from the book and passed with an A. Make sure you study on your own because he rarely assigns homework. Studying in groups is recommended. Go to SI sessions. Tatoian is BOMB. Math oriented clas
Hard teacher. He makes you afraid to ask questions and skips steps. Will be easy teacher for people who are good at math, but will be extremely hard for those with little math experience.
Tatioan is kind of a mixed bag. He's a little intimidating, so not many people ask questions. Hard class. Honestly, he's not the best lecturer and is not very clear. On the other hand, he's very interesting and funny. And if you can get him talking theoretical physics and dark matter, it's pretty interesting.
OMG where to start! makes math reaally hard! entertain questions but degrade the student for asking. Skips steps.. alot because he always say "You should know this from your math 50-51" No study guide.. Test are out of nowhere... Im not a math person but I can do math.. but his math is just plain hard! DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Very disorganized. Never returned any labs back, so it would be impossible to know how well you were doing. Tests are ok and stuff, but the class and the professor are drags.
Tatoian is legit. To be honest, he's probably the most intelligent professor on campus. He knows his physics and he knows his math. He even knows MORE math than those in the Math department. His lectures are not as engaging as Anderson's but is clear and thorough. You should consider yourself lucky have such a high caliber professor on campus.
Horrible teacher, only teaches OK at the beginnning, but gets lazier toward the end of the semester. Makes fun of you when you ask questions, not helpful at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He is not a teacher, he just stands up there and recites stuff that he already knows. DO NOT TAKE HIM! The worst math teacher I have ever had, by far and I have had a lot of math teachers. Please, do not take him unless you have to, take my advice.
Prof. Tatoian is a nice guy who cares about his students. He gives lot of reading handouts and 3 exams, which is really helpful! Student really need to work hard to get a better grade, and he will give u an A if he thinks you deserve it!
Tatoian, I will admit, is a very brilliant man. But is very difficult to understand, isnt very aproachable and he does not have very much respect for students. I would NOT recomend him for the lower level physics classes. Physics is hard, but he makes it harder.
Tatoian is a great teacher. If you have interest in physics, listen carefully to what he says, take notes. Most likely, you will not have to open your book once. All you need is notes and an effort to understand stuff he explains in class. Homework is important,si sessions are big help. Labs are easy. Tests are not that easy though.
A smart professor yes, but he makes physics more difficult than it needs to be. Is not clear in answering any problems you may have, and gets agitated if you don't understand his attempts to.
Very good instructor. He explains his stuff really well. If you listen carefully and take good notes you'll be fine. Not an easy A class. Actually, class requires UNDERSTANDING physics, and a lot of work. If you don't understand physics, you will not even have a D in this class. Be prepared for this class, have very good math skills.
4B take him if you are smart, like hockie or know how to play piano he likes students that have things in common with him. But study hard this is a hard class with any teacher. He really likes smart students
I think Tatoian is one of the best in physics that MT SAC has to offer;eventhough the department has challenging instructors. Fun class, a lot of lab reports, helpful teacher. He writes the proofs for the formulas and explains thoroughly. You can even practice your foreignlanguage skills with him. Taking his class was very rewarding.Just do ur part
Not easy to take at all. But it's an interesting class to take, you may learn more about how to think!
Quite possibly the smartest professor on campus. Prof Tatoian knows his stuff. The class wasn't easy but I took it over 6 weeks so I was expecting to struggle. I worked hard and got the grade I deserved. I recommend for the 6 week session if you have the time to put in
His lectures are really clear, and if you're still unclear you can get help during office hours. The homework assignments are really reflective of the exams. If you can do the homework on your own, you should be able to do well on the exams. There are a lot of experiments, make sure you have good teammates to help with the reports.
He we a great professor. Be prepared to learn something. You really have to work for knowledge!
Worse professor ever. He is discouraging and unorganized. He will make you change your major. Dont even bother asking him questions, cuz he "doesn't understand your question".
Ouch. Vahe is a nice guy and REALLY knows his stuff but tends to skip the important steps. Skipping steps is fine...skipping NEW steps is not. He does offer 5% XC for attending the TMARC. To get a solid grade you MUST read the book because his teaching bounces around a bit. Willing to help but even then is difficult to fully understand. READ AHEAD!
Tests are very difficult, but that's to be expected. He gives 5% extra credit for attending SI sessions. This class is very tough, but its not like engineering is going to get any easier, so we mind as well. I learned a lot from this class and I definitely feel smarter now than before.
Class finished with less than 15. Began over 40. Tests are hard. Homework is obscene (9 hours a week; assigned so you can't solve 30% of questions, at least). Whenever I had a question during office hours all I got was "I won't do your homework for you." No, of course not. But could you at least TRY to teach me the material you're grading me on?!
Took him for math 51 and 71. He is the best math teacher i ever had. no one likes doing math so math period is difficult. hes clear and goes through it clearly. tests and quizzes are not long. you just have to know the material. Hes nice and funny. If you stay on the subject you can get a grade you thought u never would have.
This is a very difficult class. Expect to study A LOT. If you're not the type to study you will not pass PERIOD. The material is explained but a lot is left out b/c he wants you to learn to figure out how to do it yourself. Expect to spend a lot of time figuring things out. And yes the homework is a bit demoralizing b/c it's really hard.
Horrible professor. Very unclear. Talks to you like you're dumb. Tests are ridiculous. Class went from 40 students to 9 students by the end of the semester. No one has gotten an A on the tests. AVOID.
Worst teacher. Makes students feel dumb when questions were asked. Also, hated how he repeated over and over what a terrible and sad education system this county had...students here don't know anything. Will always avoid him.
Mt. SAC is blessed to have this professor! A very interesting and humble human being if you try to get to know him. He does not throw curve balls at his students! Do your HW, understand the concepts and you will do great. Tatoian does an amazing job at capturing students' attention. I used to hate physics, but not anymore... Thanks to Tatoian :)
vahe is as close to the real deal as u can get at SAC. he knows his stuff & more, & he won't baby u around with simple problems. he wants u to UNDERSTAND physics, & he won't help w/ hw until you've taken a stab at it (meaning after it's due). work hard, don't lag behind, & u might even appreciate how much of a decent
WOW! What an amazing professor. He is incredibly smart and wise. I used to hate physics but he explained everything so well that now I like it. He is not easy, be prepared to work very very hard, but if you do your part there is no way you can't get an A. If you can do the homework on your own, you will likely do well on the exams. TAKE HIM!
Tough professor but not as hard as people are saying. It's physics you have to study or at least put effort and time into it. Professor explained everything nicely, and I don't remember ever getting bored. Not many complaints about him.
Good professor imho. He teaches everything nicely, and is willing to help you when you ask for it. Some people seemed offended by his bluntness, maybe that's why I see so many negative reviews? Either way, I liked him. It's physics so be prepared for a lot of work and learning - no matter who you take.
love his classes!!! super helpful!!!
Leturing with a lot of details. You must be active to ask,and he is willing to help whenever conditions.
Great professor. Very helpful. Uses MARC as easy extra credit. Highly recommended.
Great professor!!!! I love him!!! He doesn't like taking picture haha :)
Whoa!!! professor Tatoian is one of the best math teachers I have ever had, if not the best. He was extremely clear on the topic and very helpful and generous as well! He is a very passionate individual who sparks interest in math in those who at first hated it. Easy A.
honestly i am not a math person and was looking forward alot of help from this guy. and got the total opposite, you basically have to teach yourself. if you get something wrong he doesnt hesitate to talk down to you, he skips steps expecting everybody should know his way of doing things. overall just a bad teacher
This professor is my best professor ever. Even he requires a lot and gives me a lot of pressure but i fall in love with physics because of Prof. Vahe. Highly recommend this professor if you really wanna study Physics. He is so nice and helpful. Anyway, I love him and enjoy his class.
Great professor. I love him. You are expected to study, it is physics class. Keep that in mind and you will be fine in his class.
If you can teach yourself this five unit class, than do it. But he will make you look dumb if you ask him any question. Math is not his passion and is not interested in helping his students pass. Out of the whole class only 5 people passed. please do yourself a favor and take another professor. His exams are extremely difficult!!!
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR MATH AT ALL!!!! He is passionate about physics but not math. I have friends that took him for physics and say he is wonderful because that is his passion. But for Math, he is horrible. You will have to teach your self the whole book. His exams are nothing from the book. If he is your last option please avoid!!!
Good professor. He makes calculus so clear. If you are not very good at algebra, you might find his class little hard. But, you cannot do calculus without algebra whatsoever. Math and physics are fun and challenging for most people. So study!
Vahe Tatoian is perhaps one of the greatest persons who ever lived. He is also partially responsible for the collapse of the soviet union. Class is passable if you dont whine about it so much
The class is easy but this professor is ridiculous. The lectures were boring. Labs were barely returned back. Has no people skills and makes you afraid to ask questions. The text he wrote is full of mistakes.
I've never had a professor that was a nightmare until this year. Math is dreadful as it is & he made it worse.
If you talk to him in his office hour, he will break down everything to you. I got an A because of that. He's the best!
Extremely Smart and knows very well what physics is. he is very knowledgeable. rarely you can find a professor as good as him.one of the best.
He does not treat students with respect and makes students afraid to ask questions. Very harsh grader. Requires you to buy a book that is not available at the student bookstore. Just turn the other way and run. This class should be 6 units, not 4.
This professor is horrible. He barely explains any of the concepts and expects you to learn at home rather than learn in the classroom. Way too much homework and way too much time waisted explaining his algebra rather than the actual physics. Don't take him.
Very good Professor, Very math based. He does a lot of problems together with you in class. If you ask him for help, he will help you. Not the easiest class to get an A. Tests are Hard!!
Tatoian is very passionate about physics and gets students excited too. Really a great opportunity to take his class and learn an awesome subject!
You just have to respect this man. He's probably the most influential and interesting professors I've met. I found the class difficult... but read, review lecture notes, do homework, and finally visit him with any questions! He will help and eventually respect you. He's an awesome person. I recommend him if you have further physics courses to take.
Amazing professor and great to talk to. Physics is not a simple subject, so be sure to remember that. Read the text, do all of the practice problems/homework/assigned work and you'll be fine on the exams. Always nice when he turns on the jams, too ;)
Definitely would not recommend for math! Does not separate sections, writes random notes so its hard to know exactly what section he is on or what he's even trying to teach. I got so lost not even the MARC could help me. Had to drop and take with a different teacher.
He is surely the best prof I have taken so far. He has great influence on students. I have a respect for him. He is the best in Physics department for sure. I LOVE LOVE LOVE every class meeting cause I have learn so much in each class. His exams are based on his examples in class and homework. If you attend class and do his hw, you're gonna be fine
Tatoian is a brilliant man with a wide range of knowledge in both physics and other subjects. His lectures are key and if you can understand the concepts in class, you'll have no trouble with the quizzes and exams. He can be vague at times, but he makes up for it by being extremely helpful. Great life lessons and an amazing physics lecturer!
His humor may come off offensive at first, but he is actually very funny and kind. He is brilliant so he WILL SKIP STEPS in math calculations. Course is math-heavy. Don't take summer unless you are ok with little sleep & no social life. Lots of homework & lab reports but they help. Professor genuinely cares for students. Tests are free response.
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. Vahe Tatoian actually turned me away from what I loved..Phys. I tried to seek help at office hours but he simply didn't know how to explain things well. I have been in many classes (finished 2ag, 4a, 4b,4c), Vahe Tatoian is the WORST professor -ever!!
Does not really help his students that well. We had an assignment that we were suppose to go over but he skipped it because 2 students understood it. Not the rest of the 20 people in class.
Unorganised. He has his own textbook so you don't really need to rent another one.
Being in his class makes me feel that is how education should be. He is the best professor I have ever met.
I've been at Mt. SAC for three years now and this is the worst professor I've had so far. Very unorganized, he encourages you to ask questions then gets mad if you don't understand the first time he explains something. He does not have the patience for teaching. I definitely wouldn't recommend this class to anyone!
He's the best professor at Mt Sac. Take him if your dedicated and willing to work. He will inspire you .If you have an interest in physics or math then, he will solidify this love even more. Go over HW problems and you can succeed.
Your average ordinary boring math professor. Poor teaching method due to his zig zag writing flow on the board. Test is nothing like the Quizz ( like heaven and hell comparison). You have been warned.
This is not an easy class and the course material can be confusing. Going to SI sessions and office hours helped a lot. The only textbook you need is the labhomework book. Tatoian is very inspirational and helpful! Definitely a good professor!
Tests are easy, Here is your chance to take an easy professor. Although he says attendance is mandatory, It's really not. If you find an error he will give extra points, if he denies that he does he just wants you to push him a bit.
This class is crazy hard. His teaching is very confusing, he will make the easy thing be very hard to understand, so you have to do the search by yourself because the concept of 4C is not so difficult. Anyway, it is true that he will teach you something that is not in the book, so his class is not bad if you are really interested in physics.
I respect Prof. Tatoian. Phys 2A is not an easy class but he always helped me answer the questions i didn't know how to do at his office hours. Even though he is busy sometimes, he still spent his time answering the questions step-by-step individually. That is the reason why i respect this professor so much. The Inspirational teacher ever.
Going into this class I expected many bad things from this man, truth is he was probably the best math professor I've ever had. Humbled to have passed, worked my tail off, and he always extends his hand out to come to office hours. Would take him again for sure. Great guy!
Quiz and Test questions were different from what was taught in class. Very difficult class. I rather die than take this class again.
he teaches well but the exams are hard
He is a wonderful math professor I ve ever had. To get a better grade, you must stick in the class and do your homework. I really like his teaching style. Anyway, his final exam s quite tough.
Prof. Tatoian is a phenomenal and inspirational professor. He has made me fall in love w/Physics, the subject that I used to dread the most. He is very humorous and caring towards his students. The quizzes/exams can be difficult, but the concepts are all expected. If you follow along w/ the notes and do your H/W thoroughly, your work will pay off.
There is no structure to his teaching. You will be more confused of the writing than the teaching. He is science major professor. He has no passion for teaching math as he does with his science classes. Lot of homework. Exams are difficult and occasionally makes errors so either ask so you can get full credit or else he won't fix it.
Hands down one of the best math professors ever!! Even though I had Professor Tatoian over the summer, the pacing of the course was excellent. He is always clear with what he expects from his students, and exams and quizzes are straightforward. Final exam is a little tough, but not impossible. Tatoian is also hilarious - never had a boring class.
He seems nice but when you realy get to know him and he doesn't like you, you are in the worst. The class material is not too hard but he makes it look confusing. He knows science but just doesn't know how to teach Physics. Take professor Mahmoud if you want to get ready for your PHYS2BG.
Not a fair grader. The lectures are confusing: no structure to his teaching at all.
I am great at math but bad at physics and I didn't like this professor. His weekly homework assignments take about 6 hours to do because notes taken in class don't help with all the questions. He does not go over any HW questions either or prepare you for the tests. Most people in my class failed his tests ,but there is hope with the quizzes+ labs
This guy is the worst physics professor I've ever had. Yes, physics is tough, but his teaching style really is not helpful at all. Things may seem ok during lecture, but homework is impossible. Apparently he gets the problems from foreign textbooks, which is why you can't find any of them online for help, and his class notes do not help at all.
Professor T is the best physics professor at Mt. SAC. His understanding of physics is beyond what I was expecting. He is a math based professors and the labs aren't as important, mostly circuits labs. No mastering physics, his office hours are at 6:45am. He will work through problems with you. Start a study group and read the material before class.
If you're an engineering or physics major I would highly recommend him. He is not an easy professor, but really prepares you for 4A. His class is what a college class should be. Work hard and make the sacrifice to go to his office hours which are early morning if you don't understand a concept. If you want an easy A look somewhere else.
-If you have any interest in becoming a better student then this is the professor to take. -Homework is assigned regularly and although it is not always collected, I highly recommend you complete each one. -Cross out x questions on the exam. -Try to read the book, even if you don't get it. Tatoian is always willing to help, in person or by email.
Straight up, if you know you're bad at algebra you need to show up to every class and do the homework. If you can do the homework without looking at notes/answers you'll do well. If not, work hard to get the grade you want. The homework is similar to quizzes and tests. Do the 5% extra credit, it will help you.
Yes, he is a hard professor, and yes, his tests/hw can be confusing at times. However, he is very knowledgeable about the material, and he teaches you physics in a critical-thinking way that prepares you well for 4A, well worth the effort. If you want an easy A for physics 2A credit and don't need/want to learn that in depth, don't take him.
Not accessible outside class & hard to communicate with. All you cam do is study yourself. I have nothing against professors using their own textbooks, but the one Tatoian wrote is awful trash. Dont count on it. Btw Tatoian is not a fair grader. Worst professor I have ever had.
Take him for the memes even though you are not going to learn anything. Stay in class, do not drop, and he will pass you eventually
I have never had a worse teacher. He didn't explain the work well enough to understand and has no patience to thoroughly explain something if a student doesn't understand. Tons of homework and there are lots of typo on his "homemade" textbook. The exams are from nowhere. Try to avoid him if you can.
He is a very nice guy but doesn't have the patience to explain each step completely. He expects you to already know your algebra from pervious courses. It's a difficult class but just do the homework, extra credit, don't miss class. On the exams he does put similar problems from the lecture. He does not provide a study guide, so study everything!
Quite possibly the most difficult (and most rewarding class) I took at Mt. SAC. Generally, if you're looking to get an easy A, take another prof, but if you're looking to learn, Tatoian is the man. Form study groups early, and go to office hours. He's the kind of professor you'll come back to in 5 years to say thanks and grab lunch with.
I can't thank him enough! He is the best. He is so good that he made me change my major to physics!
A very intelligent and caring educator. I took him for both Math140 and Phys2AG. He will always make sure your questions are answered and he really loves the subjects he teaches. The lectures can get a bit confusing in physics but he definitely puts in the work to help students. Also he loves talking about rock music, very cool!
If you want to succeed in this class, read the covered chapters in textbook before every lecture or watch films with many ways. Professor assume you know basic knowledge, and he teach with hard way. you might be lost if you dont review chapter unless you have solid physics sense or quick learning. hard class. prepare to study hard to learn.
Very good professor, if you actaully want to learn physics and need more than one level of physics I highly reccomend taking Tatoian. He is able to clearly explain concepts and prepares you very well for 4A. Physics in general is not easy but if youre willing to study and put in the work you can succeed in his class. Go over the notes and do HWK !
I felt we ended up speeding through a lot of the material after the first exam. He mainly uses math to explain the material, which might give some a hard time (some students, like me, learn best when given a live demo as well). Be sure to ask questions in and out of class as 4B is extremely DIFFICULT! He is hard, however, his class is doable.
Terrible. If your taking him for math, do yourself a huge favor and don't. He expects you to already know everything and has no patience or leniency when it comes to the end of the semester. Hardly anyone passed the class and his exams were a joke. Doesn't teach out of the book. Hard to understand, sounds like he has respiratory depression.
expects you to know everything and loses patients when you ask questions
You'd better do well on algebra before take his class.
Very moody man. Pays extra attention to girls in the class. If you ask him a question, expect him to give attitude and not really help with answering the question. Only knows how to teach something one way. Says he encourages questions, but will talk down to you/belittle/get upset if he has to answer a question. Often feel unprepared for his hw.
Took in Winter. Expects you to know your algebra, trig, and calc. Would often skip steps so it is hard to follow when you look at your notes later on for hw. Lectures & hw will prepare you for exams. However, it was hard to do the hw & study because he made us buy a book he made, which has answers but A LOT of those answers were wrong. Take SI!!!!
Best physics 2A professor hands down. Took him during winter and class was super hard, but doable. If you are planning on taking more physics classes take 2A with him. He made 4A very easy to understand. His class is a lot of work. Go to his office hours at 7 am and he will help with any questions. Do the hw. Tests are way easier than the hw.
Absolutely the worst math professor I have EVER taken. Condescending when you ask questions; took him when we had to switch to online bc of the pandemic. Couldn't see what he was doing on the board, wouldn't slow down, his explaining is choppy and useless. Nothing he teaches makes sense. My god take anyone but this man.
Be very wary of the negative reviews. There is some validity to what they say but most of the problem lies within the student and students for one reason or another can't accept it and place full blame on the professor. If you struggle with college algebra, of course you are going to struggle in Math 140 and Physics. It's common sense.
Worst physics professor ever. During this pandemic period, he is not understandable at all. He was very impatient with his students. He teaches with a whiteboard and writes very small you really can see it. I will never take his class again. Class is okay not that hard, but the prof is not good. I reather will take another prof in 4A.
i took Tatoian in spring 2020 and past his class with an A. his class is tough but thats because it is the foundation for phys 4A & 4B.. i know have completed both 4A & 4B with an A because of how well tatoian prepared me. i knew that he was hard before taking him but you cant run away forever. do the extra credit!!!
