Prof Vahid is the most caring professor I have ever met. He is always accessible and helpful in teaching even the hardest topics. You can tell that he is teaching with passion, and he wants you to succeed throughout the semester. Overall, I highly recommend him for any class, he is very knowledgeable and eager to learn with you.

Incredibly accessible outside of class (more than he was obligated to). As a non-cs major, the course was tough, and required a lot of work outside the class, but Vahid was excellent at explaining concepts and helping out with the different problem sets.

Extremely quick to respond to emails. Deftly juggled his own PhD defense with teaching us over the summer, which is a feat most people would not be able to pull off. English is not his first language, so there were a occasional words misspoken/definitions that had to be repeated for understanding, but it's CS so that got cleared up quickly.

CS111 has two goals: learn programming in Python and learn fundamental CS concepts. It was not an easy task to take a CS course over summer, but Professor Ranjbar was so helpful that himself alone eased a lot of pain in learning CS for many students (me included). His lectures were clear, his slides were well-organized, and he makes CS fun to do!

Taught me more about programming in a six week summer course than my high school class I took for two years. Im still surprised with the amount of content he was able to teach to the class. I would recommend Mr. Azadeh-Ranjbar and his course to anyone who has any sort of interest in computer science, regardless of their experience.

There is a lot of work, but it's really easy to manage. He will go above and beyond to help you reach your goals, and he made me really interested in CS. Fair warning, his grading criteria is really specific, but if you follow the instructions carefully, the class isn't very difficult.

I learned WAY more than I couldve imagined about web development (mainly HTML, CSS, and a little JS). Vahid made the class engaging and enjoyable. The course is great for an introductory class but the material builds on top of itself at a steady pace. He provides opportunities for extra credit with group work on lab assignments and projects. The exams are rather challenging with memorization required for course and lecture concepts.

I took a summer class with a semester's worth of material so it was intense, but he explains everything well and uses simpler vocabulary so things are easy to understand. He is always patient and willing to answer questions thoroughly in-class & out. If you're real picky, he talks a bit slow but I think it helped me process difficult concepts.

CS 111 is one of the hardest classes I've taken at BU(if youre looking to take it just for hub credit, don't) The problem sets take hours, and the exams are really tough. COVID year, I was only online. This class was super well designed. Plenty of support given for the assignments. Lots of homework, but there are helpful explanations in the lectures. For me, this professor did not play a huge role in helping me understand the material and I didn't see him a lot, but I was able to do well bc of the course structure.

Had this professor for CS131 and CS111. Very concise and lectures are easy to follow. CS131 is tough, but he knows what topics / problems students find more difficult and spends more time on them. Willing to give 1 extra day on difficult problem sets if enough students email him or he thinks that its a particularly challenging one.

Just a heads up that CS103 focuses more on programming rather than designing so I would recommend to non-CS major who want to get into programming ! CS131 can definitely be difficult, but Professor Vahid is always there to help. There are plently of office hours available and any other questions can also be asked through Campuswire. PS can be difficult, but are definately good practice for exams. Professor Vahid is also very reasonable about giving extra time if people are having trouble on PS.

Great Professor, hard class. Do good at the start cause the class will get harder towards the end of the semesters. Homeworks are crazy hard but if you go to office hours, you will be okay. Vahid cares and is very lenient so make sure you do your best.

Dude I never come to his class. The recordings are good enough. All the problems you will face are already written in the course pack. You just need to be patience about the problem sets. Spend more time and check what is wrong with your code. The labs are unnecessary as well.

Vahid is one of the best professors I have had at BU. He genuinely wants his students to succeed, and provides them with the tools necessary to do so. 131 was incredibly hard for me but Vahid was still able to make it enjoyable. Please take him!

One of the best professors at BU for sure. The course is very very tough but he makes the concepts easier to understand. Very accessible outside of class via Campuswire and office hours. Problem sets are very hard but very doable if done with a group. Exams are also very difficult. Do well on the psets and the curve will save you.

Prof. Ranjbar is an excellent teacher and is somehow really enthusiastic, even though he's teaching an intro course. The homeworks are not too time consuming if you pay attention in class and there are a ton of office hours. Taken Fall 2019.

Professor Vahid is the best professor that I have ever had. His lectures are very engaging and you will not have a hard time paying attention. CS131 is a very hard course, especially the problem sets. But if you go to lecture and lab, form a study group, and go to office hours, you will do amazing!

Dr. Azadeh Ranjbar is a great professor. TopHat is required during lectures, since the style of the class is interactive. There is lots of help available, and the homework and project assignments you get will help you with your performance in the class: there is no "busy work." Azadeh Ranjbar cares about his students and will help you succeed!

Was not the best coder but I honestly did love Vahid. Super tough class if you don't understand how coding works. I failed every exam but still ended up with a C+ so I guess that's a win?

It's a difficult class regardless of the teacher, but Vahid was a nice guy.

VAHID teaches with comfort and love. He always finds something that excites you. Every class that I attended was full of energy.

Practical in-class questions, avoiding long lectures, making class discussions, creating fun time for students during class, super useful office hours, and being available all the time are qualities of his teaching. He is the GOAT!

Prof. Ranjbar is a really great professor in terms of teaching and being understanding of his students. He is energetic and shows interest in his lectures which motivates students. Definitely would recommend!

One of the best professors ever. He gives extremely engaging lectures and he's always around to help and give assistance when he needs it. He uses all of class time and if not even more to make sure we completely understand the content and even though the problem sets are very difficult!
