Cares about students and wants them to pass. He likes to hammer students with tough chemistry problems but it's for students' benefit though. Good professor overall. He likes talking about alcohol though.
A hard driller but is a funny teacher. Will talk frequently about how you should drink alcohol AFTER exams. Study for this class on your own time, he can't teach everything and go into detail with the amount of time given.
Vahid is a nice guy but is he the best teacher? Probably not. There were two quizzes, one midterm, and final, all of which were passable. Vahid may not be the best teacher, but this class is easy enough to understand on your own and it's also pass/no pass so it doesn't matter too much.
He's harder than the other workload chem teachers! But I think he's a great instructor. He goes by the book and lectures very fast, so read ahead before you come to class so you're not totally lost. Assigns tons of online homework and gives hard problems to solve, but also holds review sessions for the midterm and final. Hard class, but worth it.
He's a good teacher and he really cares about his students. The work and tests he gives are a little difficult. I did not like the homework online because whenever you get one problem wrong you have to start all over. He takes his very own time to hold review sessions for his students. I'm sad that the final didn't cover chapter 16 and 19.
He is suchhhh a good teacher, extremely nice and understanding. he really just wants you to succeed. He has a very organized teaching style and his methods really helped me understand difficult material well. He also has a personality. Reasonable guy. Best chem teacher I've had, I really enjoyed having him as a teacher.
He is a great professor. He knows his stuff, and he also has a great personality. He is funny and just wants you to pass the class. He wants you to do well and succeed. He assigns tons of homework, but in the end its beneficial.
he is not an easy teacher but he helps you learn the material in a fun and practical way. he is a hilarious guy! there is a lot of online homework but there is for all the workload chem classes and it really does help you learn. best chem teacher i've ever had
He is AWESOME! I used to think chem was impossible but he makes it understandable through clear breakdown of the material. His lectures are mandatory and worth going to because it makes sense and is even better than a book! Only thing is there is LOTS of homework- but it greatly helps in the end! :)
Vahid is an AMAZING teacher! (he has us call him by his first name). His lectures are very engaging and he does not move on to the next topic until he knows we have all grasped the concept. He's also very funny :) I hardly have to study for tests or quizzes because being in lecture and doing the homework is equivalent to studying.
He is an engaging teacher who is passionate about what he teaches. The style of teaching which is providing the basics then going more in depth with practice problems helped me understand the material much better. His tests are coherent to the material taught, but may be a little difficult. A lot of online hw, but is useful at the end
Oh, God, this professor is SOOO FUNNY! I've never liked chemistry, but I actually enjoyed his class. I don't think I've ever understood Chemistry so well. And he pronounces my name right =) Oh, btw his BMW is freaking gorgeous lol
First day, you might think that he is very mean. But that's not true. Vahid is very nice & VERY FUNNY! I've never liked chemistry, but I actually enjoyed his class. I don't think I've ever understood Chemistry so well. He is very enthusiastic and loves teaching the subject. And he pronounces my name right =) Oh, btw his BMW is freaking gorgeous lol
He is really funny but scary at first. You kind of get used to his humor and jokes. Laughing every class but he is very serious about class and making sure that you are ready and learning. If you don't understand he is busy so get help from friends. Do all the stupid owl homework even if you feel like it doesnt help at all. Never used text book :(
Vahid is an engaging chemistry teacher who can seem a bit frightening at first but in the end is very helpful and likes to joke around. Lots of online homework, but if you do it you'll be fine. Make friends in the class because he doesn't have much time to help outside of class. Good class.
At first the accent was a little difficult to get used to, but after a week I was used to it. He really enjoys Chemistry which makes the class more enjoyable. If you want to get a good grade make sure to study for the tests!
He is a really good professor, coming into his class i really didnt think i was going to do good in his class since in high school i didnt understand chem at all and i thought it was very hard. I learned a lot in his class. He teches you everything step by step... is very comprehendible ! Best Professor i had this quarter by far!
The calls was a lot of fun. Vahid can be intimidating at first, but he is actually a lot of fun. He makes sure that his students understand what he is teaching. I really enjoyed the class.
Mr. Eskandari is pleasant to have as my first science teacher in UC Davis. He clearly explains each topic fully. It is very obvious and understood by students that he truly cares for students to grow in his class. He is patient, the only time he gets annoyed is when students do not give him respect by texting or talking out of turn. Mr. Eskandar
Really good professor. At first scary but they you learn to know his humor. I like his teaching style and organized lecturing. He almost does whole lectures by memory and it boggled my mind. I hardly needed my text book like at all. Owl is the worst thing in the world but I learned it helped me study.
Great teacher, and pretty funny. It is unfortunate due to the time constraint in classes that we never had time to really practice.
goot teacher... funny, easy to work with. Explains things clearly and effectively. Owl however is the stupid invention ive come across yet
I loved his class. He made chemistry bearable: It used to be my worst nightmare. At first, he can seem very intimidating; but his sense of humor makes the class entertaining. And lecture is mandatory, and well worth it. There is a lot of online homework, but all the classes have it. You can tell he cares for his students. HIGHLY recommended.
He made Chemistry a lot easier to understand this time around, and taught us different ways of thinking that really helped me grasp the material. His class can be a little more difficult than the other ones, and he expected more out of us than other professors might have been expecting out of their students. Overall, however, it was worth it!
Good teach. Enthusiastic to be there and happy to teach. make sure you do your work or his wrath will come upon everyone, then again all teachers to that.happy to be in class i learned a lot. and make sure when he tells you to do something JUST DO it. If he says you should memorize then MEMORIZE. He knows what you need to learn for chem 2a so listen
He's a pretty cool teacher, altough there were times when he didn't seem too happy to be in class. He was also a little intimidating at first, but his jokes broke the ice every once in a while. There is a lot of HW so GET STARTED RIGHT AWAY, DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE DAY OF OR NIGHT BEFORE!! Read the chapters if you don't want to fail. Good luck :-)
Professor Eskandari is awesome--you are extremely lucky if you have him as your professor. He is very helpful and so is the material he goes over in lecture; it's to your advantage to go to lecture. He knows his stuff and is entertaining at 7AM! You can tell that he wants his student to do well. Too bad we don't have him for the Chem series...

He is a very good teacher for those that need help remembering chemistry from high school. He is a very funny guy who have the best interest for all his students.

The homework was hard, frustrating, and not very helpful.
Great teacher, he knows his stuff and is a really good at teaching it. He cares about how the students are doing and really tries to get the point across. He is really funny and I enjoyed going to his classes although sometimes thought they were hard.
Good Teacher. really tries to make chem clear. He knows his stuff. He puts the information in the simplest way possible which makes it easier to understand and learn.HW is alot but helpful. Good chem teacher!
I really enjoyed this workload chemistry class because it was very helpful. The teacher, Mr. Eskandari, was very good and new what he was teaching. He might be hard but he prepares you to be fully ready for chem 2A.
The professor made the subject of chemistry sem as easy as tying your shoe laces. The lectures were very clear as to what was trying to be taught. The class was very beneficial to serve as a staple for future chemistry courses. The professor himself made the class fun to attend. UC Davis ought to have more professors like Vahid.
Vahid was one of my favorite professors. Strict but fair. And he had a subtle sense of humor that added to the class atmosphere!
he is very helpful when you ask questions. he covers a lot of material very quickly. he can be funny sometimes in class. there is a lot of homework online. you definitely need to buy the book for this course. he is friendly and extremely knowledgeable, but more short quizzes would have been helpful for me.
Vahid is a good teacher. While he may be strict in appearance, he actually loosens up a bit by the end of the quarter. His signature line is "Are you happy now?", but his humor fits well in the university. You really dont need the book for the class, except to read the chapter review sheets within it before tests, besides that always take good notes
He's pretty nice, just very strict. The homework is ridiculous, I didn't find it helpful most of the time and there was a lot. His tests are a little harder than most, but not too bad.

Vahid is an awesome teacher! The homework is not hard it's time consuming. I did find it useful though because you get a lot of practice! He is very helpful and clear. He is strict but it is for your own good.I really liked his class and I learned a lot! Very encouraging too!
Vahid may be intimidating, but he's a VERY nice professor and he's eager to help. There's a lot of online homework, so don't procrastinate. If you find some of his explanations hard to follow, the textbook does a good job of clearing things up.
he will go through a lot of material, but very quickly. there is a lot of online homework that was not helpful for me. having small quizzes more often would have been more beneficial. prof seems unfriendly at first, but he actually has a warm smile, so don't be intimidated. you need to buy the textbook. he clearly explains what you need to know.
Great o-chem professor! Makes it less scary. He doesn't assign homework so you have to do it on your own but he gives really good notes which helps you out. Very helpful if you are having difficulty understanding material. Need to stay on top of everything because the class moves fast. Tests can be hard but do-able.
Vahid is a very good O chem teacher, he made this scary subject so easy for me. He works hard so everyone understands the material and treats you like adults so you study on your own and no homeworks are assigned. His tests are mostly out of the lecture notes and he emphasizes on some text that you can almost certainly expect on the test. Great Te!
Vahid was a great Ochem teacher. His classes run fast as we cover a lot of material. Sometimes I had trouble discerning what he said but he was extremely helpful. He didn't assign homework but rather left the responsibility of studying up to you. His tests are hard but if you study (including doing problems) you'll be fine! Great class!
I enjoyed his classes very much, pretty helpful and lively as well
Great teacher! Explain everything very well and does plenty of practice problems throughout class making the quizzes and tests very simple. Very friendly and approachable.
Sometimes difficult to understand him through his accent, but writes definitions up for you. Lots of practice problems in class help you get the concept better and faster. Tests are hard, but if you study well you should have no problem. Funny professor, lightens the mood when covering difficult course material. He is always octet!
The professor looks mean and awkward at first but if you stick around you'll find that he is helpful and funny at the same time. He does have a small accent but its bearable.
Great Teacher. Lectures are important and understandable. Teacher is clear.
Awesome Professor!! Really knows his stuff and goes out of his way to make sure you understand it. He does not move on until you are able to comprehend the subject. The tests and quizzes are hard and do require you to study, but the class is great and the professor is one of the best.
This fellow's really nice. He gave lots of pep talks and extra points; you know that you're being taken into consideration with him.
Awesome! Very helpful, extremely funny, nice to everyone, sometimes you feel rushed in his class but the material is easy to understand. Enjoyed going to class. Kind of cooky.
best chem teacher ive ever had, and ive had 2
Really helpful teacher. He is very approachable. He does have a little bit of an accent, so sometimes it might be hard to understand him, but he does spell it out on the board if you do not understand what he said. He knows what he is doing and makes sure that you do too. He gives lots of pep talks and really cares for his students.
Great guy. Will take his CHE 2A lecture next quarter. Take him if you can.
Slow at teaching...but a nice funny guy
Funny; Nice guy; cares whether you succeed or not
seems genuinly interested in success of his students
Good Professor really cares for your education... Funny!!! "Are you happy now" funny funny funny!!! He makes chemistry easy to understand...
He's a good teacher and teaches you what you need to know for the quizzes and exams. Cares about how everyone is feeling. Take him!
He is a great teacher and honestly cares about his students succeeding. Very sweet and has an adorable sense of humor. Definitely recommend taking him!
He's a great teacher. He really cares about his students. Gives good pep talks as well :) He is very clear and good at explaining. He uses easy examples to start and gradually builds up. I used to hate chemistry, but with him it's not all that bad anymore.
Loved him! He gives the best pep talks and seems to truly care about all of his students. Very good at explaining the complex concepts in a clear and interesting way. He's also pretty fun. Highly recommend him!
Great Professor who explains things by using TONS of practice problems. He's funny and cares that everyone understands the materials instead of just getting people to pass the exams. His exams are fair if you study hard you should do great. T.A's however were next to useless when it came to helping learn anything.
Great professor. Very very clear on the material. Everything was covered in class. Midterms didn't have any surprise information on them. Highly recommended.
Wonderful and amusing professor. You are constantly shown that he cares for your understanding and that he sincerely wants you to do well. If there is confusion during the lecture, he will write up an explanation in an email and send it out to the class on the same day. Tests are a big challenging but are curved reasonably. Highly recommended.
AMAZING AMAZING PROFESSOR. He made everything super clear. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His midterms are very fair and simple, not as tricky like other professors. He made me love chemistry, I highly recommend taking him.
Great professor! He is very straightforward and he makes concepts easy to understand. Tests were pretty easy too. Highly recommend this class.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! He is SUPER helpful!! He really cares that his students understand the concept. He is willing to reexaplin something to the ENTIRE class if need be!! He's test cover the EXACT same thing as his lectures so there aren't any surprises. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Professor. He's worth it!! You're able to understand the concept!
His tests are a bit intense but he did give out a very generous curve for the second midterm. Good teacher who is very entertaining and teaches chem alright. He does have an accent so be prepared for that.
Great Professor. Super clear on explaining the concepts. Very helpful during office hours. You can tell he really cares for his students. Great sense of humor. If you go to every lecture and understand the concepts then the exams won't be a problem.
Eskandari is honestly the best teacher I've ever had! He is very entertaining, which really motivated students to go to class. Lectures were insightful, well planned out, thoughtful, and easy to follow along. He is very helpful at office hours-especially before a test! I know Enderle is awesome, but Eskandari is seriously JUST as amazing!!
Eskandari is an awesome professor! He explains material very well and deeply cares about all of this students comprehending the material. I understand Chemistry now, it is not longer a foreign language to me. I highly recommend him.
Eskandari is, so far, the best professor i have had. He will go over stuff very quickly, and although it may not make sense at first, it will all come around later. If you're new to chem, lectures are a must. They're not boring in the slightest. My main problem with this class was that overall, the TA's were terrible. However, easy B for anyone.
One of the best teachers I've had. Explains new and scary topics in a way that is understandable. Very enthusiastic and cares about the success of his students. Encourages his students to become successful by working hard. Lectures had a lot of stuff but he writes it out on paper as he lectures and it sticks in your brain as you take notes. AWESOME
Eskandari is an awesome lecturer, explains concepts in an easy to understand way. However, read your textbook and do practice problems to fully grasp concepts!! This will help you on the tests, as the curve tends to be high, so it's not going to help you if you don't study. Great teacher overall! His accent is cool too :)
I swear that every single in lecture feels like this guy is their dad, he really cares that much. He's great, even though sometimes its hard to understand what he's trying to explain that's just the nature of chemistry. You have to do practice problems on you own. Funny guy and really wants you to do well.
He is by far my favorite teacher. His accent is cool, his teaching style is ideal, and he is very caring.
He's a great guy, very funny and keeps the lecture lively. His office hours and review sessions are very helpful. And as far as the final grades go, he is very considerate and does care about his students.
I hate chemistry, but Professor Eskandari made the subject a less worse. We really rushed through this class considering we had alot of chapters to go through in such a little time...and I hated doing OWL. But the professor is really good at explaining and is always there to help you. The quizzes are ok, and the midterm was harder than expected.
Prof. Eskandari is a good professor and explains concepts in a way which is easy to understand. His curve was absolutely terrible, I got an 83 percent in the class and ended up with a B+. In any other chem teachers class that would be an A.
Eskandari's grading is extremely fair. He may be confusing at times during lectures due to the fact that he must cover so much material in 50 min. However, go to his office hours!! He really tries to help you, answers any and all questions you have, and tries to learn your name. Afterwards, I guarantee you will not be confused
Eskandari is a knowledgeable professor who will answer your questions if you ask them. He's chill. The midterms are insane, though; they're unnecessarily lengthy and pretty difficult. The curve will save you. Go to professor and TA office hours. Go to tutoring. Watch Enderle's YouTube videos. PS- I love the way Eskandari says "chloride"
Had 8am lecture and he did a good job keeping us awake. The tests were too lengthy for the given time but the curve was generous. Homework on masteringchem for the entire quarter took a total of maybe an hour and was a free 6% of your grade.
actually like chem now cause of his class. He's clear and funny so you dont fall asleep. He writes everything out so it's not too fast. His tests are long but if you know your stuff you'll finish. IF you go to class and do the hw, its enough to get an A for the class.
Chemistry was hard for me but I managed to get a B. His tests are fair. Recommend doing the practice exams. He's really nice and pretty funny. He does have a spelling problem so be sure to check him on his spelling. Especially in nomenclature. He's not a morning person though. I'd recommend him.
Eskandari is an extremely funny professor who tries to engange his students and make them interested in chemistry. His grading is fair though tests are difficult. Really recomend going to office hours! He does his best to remember student's names and give extra practice examples to understand concepts more.
Effective lecturer. SHOULD attend lectures to see what's covered: lectures are clear and concise(except during synthesis weeks towards the end when mechanisms and reactions are thrown at you in a pile). Curve was pretty standard for intro o-chem class. Cool and funny. Eager to teach. My advice: attend his office hours and do the problems assigned
Highly recommended! Professor Eskandari is very thorough. Repeats concepts over and over. ATTEND LECTURES AND “PRACTICE!” Do practice tests and assigned homework, and you can def get an A! Tests are extremely fair. His curve is real nice, BUT won’t need it if you put in quality effort! ALSO VERY FUNNY!
Professor Eskandari is very thorough! Repeats concepts over and over. ATTEND LECTURE and “PRACTICE!” If you do all the assigned problems and practice tests, you can def get an A! Tests are extremely fair. Curve is real nice, but trust you won’t need it if you put in quality effort! Very funny! Cares about his students. He makes o-chem very fun!
"Are you happy now?" Funniest professor I've had, super nice and has a good curve. Discussion is mandatory. Really invested in his class. Definitely happy with this class, and worth it to have this professor, even if I had to wake up for 8AM classes 4/5 days of the week.
He is a very difficult professor. His exams are very difficult and lengthy. His curve sucks compared to other ochem professors. He's funny but i would not recommend taking him.
He genuinely takes interest in our learning and shows how well he wants his class to do. If you attend lecture, go to office hours, and attend workshops then you should be able to do pretty well in the class. The exams are hard, but if you do a lot of practice like he says, you should be able to do well on them.
Professor Eskandari is very encouraging. The subject is very hard itself but he repeatedly told the class dont worry so much about the grade and to understand the concepts. Hard to fall asleep in this class because he is funny. Favorite quotes: " Do not give up, prove it to yourself that you can do it" "Its hammer time"
Eskandari was a great teacher! He really cared for us, and encouraged us to do our best. The class is hard itself, but he did a great job. He really was the best chem teacher I had so far!
As a transfer student, this is one of the first classes I took in UCD. I feel like this class is easier than the gen chem class I took back in my community college. If you ask why, I'd give credit to Eskandari's clear lectures and his encouragements to the class. FYI, I had a B and a C in gen chem(2 semesters). I got an A- in here CHE118A.
He is a great professor, lectures are not only helpful and clear but he keeps them interesting and fun as well. Sometimes he has the students teach a problem which is different but good. The class is hard but he is very fair. Office hours are extremely helpful and it is possible to get an A if you work very hard. I hope to have him again!!
This class is very manageable as long as you don't fall behind with the material. Eskandari really cares about his students and wants them to succeed, but don't wait until the end of the class to go to office hours. He's pretty funny too so lectures are not boring. One of my favorite professors. He'll expect you to work for your grade. Hammer time!
BEST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD AT UCD! He genuinely cares about his students. Extremely clear, helpful lectures (do not miss). HIGHLY recommend going to every one of his OH's (runs OH's like a mini-workshop). Makes lecture bearable with his jokes. Difficult material, but fair tests. Keep up with the material and "Practice Practice!" ESKANDARI IS THE BEST!
Prof. Eskandari is a great professor. He has a great sense of humor and makes a 3-hour evening lecture bearable. If you pay attention and take notes in lecture, read the chapters in the textbook and do lots of practice and studying, you can pass the class. Tests are pretty much on spot as far as what he has covered.Hes pretty easy on the eyes too:)
His teaching is pretty straightforward until you go into detail. He can be kind of mean when you ask difficult questions. Towards the end of the quarter he got very confusing and I think he wasn''t even sure about much of the content he was teaching. Office hours are pretty importanthelpful but it is dependent on his mood.
"Work hard, play hard, die hard" "Don't Facebook, just do OChem!" Dr. Eskandari is amazing and I would highly recommend him! His lectures are clear-cut, and everything on the exams are in his lectures. Like any OChem class, it's a tough subject, but he makes it clear he wants you to succeed. Plus, he is hilarious, which keeps you awake in lecture.
prof Eskandari's class was super tough. He doesn't post notes or anything online so you must attend class and handwrite everything - he didn't allow any computers or phones to be out and would stop lecturing if he saw one. his handwriting and accent were hard to understand at times but if you read the book and join a study group you should be fine
Dr. Eskandari was a really great lecturer and although the subject matter is difficult, he tries his best to make it as clear as possible. He is a bit strict about talking using phones during lectures but only because he wants us to focus. He is hilarious and is always punctuating the dry subject matter with jokes. I would definitely recommend!
Before this, I never rate any prof . Dr. Eskandari is just too awesome that I have to rate him here. Let me just give you an idea, although his class is at 8 am in the winter, I never miss one lecture and never fall asleep. His lecture is really clear, and his sense of humor really keep students interested. Also, do go to his office hour.
Vahid Eskandari is an amazing professor who keeps it real. Sometimes I dream that I am him and he is me and that my life is amazing because I am him and he is me. If I had to make a list of people that are mindblasting, Vahid Eskandari would be on the list. MVP!!!!!!!! MVP!!!!!!!!
He went too fast, particularly on stepwise reactions. Thinks 8 series is basically 118 series, including difficulty level. He expects students to already know the material. Must memorize a long list of spectrum values that correspond to different functional groups and the table is not given on midterms.
He doesn't teach the Chem 2 series normally and he came to lecture unprepared most of the time (would forget his computer, pens, iclicker device). What was really frustrating was he had students come to the board to complete problems. Normally this would be fine, but the class is in rock hall with 400 other students waiting to do practice problems.
Eskandari is a great professor! I had him for Chem 2B . He's teaches clearly and makes sure you understand the material. His test are relatively fair. He genuinely cares about his students, you don't find professors like him very often. I would definitely recommend taking him. He's also really funny in lecture. TAKE HIM! trust me.
Great teacher and is hilarious as well. Quick tip to get a high grade in his class: attend Office Hours. It is not your traditional OH, it's like a mini bootcamp. Yes it takes time but he preps you very well, and you will succeed if you put in the work. Fair tests, etc. Would recommend.
Eskandari is an incredibly hilarious and clear teacher. His chem lectured were the first ones I ever actually enjoyed going to. I learned A TON in his class. Be sure to attend lecture and participate--it will make it so much more rewarding! His tests are tough, so study up and PRACTICE! Gives many examples in class and is great overall.
I'm really not a chemistry person but he actually motivated me to study hard and got me more interested in the subject! I think Dr. Eskandari is my favorite professor on campus so far, he was really helpful during office hours and provided lots of problems to practice with (saved my grade). He's very funny so it's hard to get bored during lecture.
He's a great, kind, and funny professor. His lectures are amazing, he's there for his students; go to office hours he helps a lot. I just went to lectures and office hours, I studied and practiced for the tests and I did great! If you study and put effort , you will get the grade you want !:) I would love to take him again!
Would love to take him again. Fantastic lecturer, helpful office hours, and fair examination.
He's a fantastic professor who puts in a lot of effort to make sure his students succeed. Would highly recommend him. I wish he was teaching 118B.
Very clear lecturer, posts all notes online. Lectures are often funny and never boring. Extremely helpful and open to questions in office hours. Tests are fair and not unpredictable. Fair grader and responsive to emails. I'd definitely take him again. He made OChem so much more manageable.
Eskandari and enderle have the same teaching style, so if you like the way enderle lectures, and writes his notes clearly for you, you'll love Eskandari! He is by far one of the best professors I've ever had, and gives very fair tests. He is not trying to trick you, really! Just go to class, study, you'll do fine!
He's the best chem professor I've had so far. He writes out his lectures live-time so as long as you go to class, you'll have the basics to be able to pass the class. But if you miss class it's still ok because he uploads his lectures. His tests are also very fair, and the curve wasn't too bad. :) Also a pretty funny guy so you won't fall asleep!
He was fair and straightforward for the most part. However, he never released standardized materials for distinctive IR bond shapes and appearances in overlapping regions despite expecting you to know it on the test. Only way you would know how to answer is if TA assumed this would be on exam and by chancecovered it. This cost me an A in the class
This professor will remind you what it is like to have a professor who cares. Do not be fooled he expects you to give him 100. As long as you do he teaches and tells you what he expects. Also don't speak he is giving a lecture, he will let you know how disrespectful you are being.
He was a pretty good professor, definitely the best chem professor I've had at Davis thus far. He has a great sense of humor, and his lectures cover everything you need for the exams. He's a bit tough on partial credit. Two midterms, one final, six quizzes, and three homework assignments. I would take any class he taught.
Vahid is awesome! Super duper funny guy who really really cares about his students. Makes lectures actually fun to go to. Teaches well too. Very highly recommended.
He's one of the best professors I've had; super nice and cares a lot about his students' success. I was actually motivated to go to class at 8am b/c he's funny and really good at explaining ochem. His exams are fair; practice and go to OH and you will be fine. I wish I could take him again!
Eskandari is easily the best ochem professor I've had. He obviously cares about his students and does his best to make sure you are actually learning ochem and not mindlessly memorizing everything. There is definitely still some stuff to memorize. I believe the class avg was 63%, I got an A with mid 80s (never saw my total though)
Not only does he love what he does, but he's hilarious at the same time! Tests are difficult, but passable. Students love him, but he does give homework. However, homework and practice problems are extremely helpful for tests. He won't test you on anything he hasn't gone over except NMRs.
Take CHE118 with Eskandari if you can!! He is the BEST ochem professor at UC Davis. He breaks down the material very well and you genuinely learn in his class. He is absolutely hilarious in lecture too which helps. I've had him for 118 A and C, and Nasiri for 118B. Nasiri in comparison was a nightmare. Your grade will thank you if u take eskandari.
I've never reviewed a professor before but decided to make an exception this time because of how awesome Eskandari is! He is easily one of my favorite professors of all time (and I had Enderle for CHE 2A). He explains things extremely well and is super funny! I highly recommend going to office hours, as well! Please take him if you can!
Eskandari is the best Ochem professor on campus. If he is teaching a class you are considering taking, and you are reading this right now, I am telling you.. take him! Honestly, he is so funny and he makes it so that lecture is not a drag whatsoever.
I love this professor. He is so kind and genuinely wants everyone to do well. He try to get you engaged in the material and will take time with you outside of class. Hes extremely fair. Ochem is hard, but having a great teacher really helps.
He says GRIG-NARD instead of Grignard. Like "Greg" with an I. Very annoying. but good teacher.
Solid professor. Had him back in 2013 for CHE 118A. Dude is fairly decent at teaching. He also says lots of random funny things like "Hammer time" and tells funny stories, my favorite being the time he told our class that one time he got extremely high from drinking cough syrup.
Terrible at teaching and relies on you to be teaching yourself in your own free time.
