very good class
was sometimes unclear about expectations unless you asked to clarify, but overall was very helpful and exams were fair
Hands down, worst class I've ever taken - and after 5 years of post secondary education, that says a lot. Huge ego, very sure of herself. Lectures are dull, reads from slides, and exams are not reflective of class. Does not include guest speakers on exams. Consults 10 year old textbook for everything, does not think for herself. No notes online.
I really liked her, she is clear, pp slides are detailed and she use different methods f teaching. Tests were fair and I loved theories she used in class. One of the best profs so far.
A direct prodcut of budget cuts and faculty diversity programs. Cheap to hire for the University but undermines the quality of education. Reflects badly on Carleton University and reduces prospects of future employment. She is incomprehensible, not knowledgeable and cannot teach without her powerpoint slides. Waste of time and money!
Garbage!
Stay away from this prof if you can! One of the worst profs ever. She can't teach!!!!!
Helpful class, I've learned how to do qualitative research, she is helpful, friendly and fun.
I have finally learned how to do qualitative research. She is helpful, friendly and approachable. Thanks Vajmeh
BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER YOU COULD EVER TAKE AT OTTAWAU, SHES SLOW AND DAMN STUUUUUUPID. SHE HAS SOME FUNNY STORIES ABOUT HER USELESS LIFE BUT MAJORITY OF THEM ARE USELESS. SHE WILL PUT UP A SLIDE AND STAND THERE FOR 5MINS TO LET THE CLASS COPY IT DOWN, THEN READ HER NOTES SO SHE KNOWS WHAT TO SAY THEN SHE BURSTS OUT THE SLIDES.
Actually I quiet liked her teaching method, and I think she did her best to make dry topics (Criminal Law) interesting. She is funny at times. If you read the text and attend her lecture, you'd do well.
She did a great job teaching Criminal Law (dry subject). Very helpful during office hrs.
VERY USELESS PROF. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. You'll regret it I promise!!! Knows nothing... uses her textbook during the lecture... TOTALLY USELESS, more useless than the worst highschool teacher you've ever had.. not kidding!
Good prof. Made criminal law interesting. Funny at times and very helpful if you seek her help. Mid-term and final exam were a bit hard...Overall it was a good class.
I was glad to see a class that discussed Criminal Law, since many CRM classes focus on social issues...The Prof. was very effective in teaching CRM law and her exams were fair...she is approachable, helpful and flexible. I enjoyed her classes.
Midterm was marked quite unfairly.. it is mostly textbook learning. She is very flexible changing dates or weights of projects. Not too bad of a class just very unclear in her expectations
Very good prof, she is approachable and very nice. She is very disorganized though but will often make up for it by either giving bonus questions or even re-correcting everything. Harder class then I thought though but very interesting!
Most disorganized Prof i've ever had. Regret taking her class. Unclear of expectations.
Extremely disorganized. Cannot teach, reads off slides, which are made from notes in the textbook. I feel even more stupid every time i come out of this class.
She is very hard to understand, however, she is nice and will accommodate your schedule. Can someone tell me if she mainly uses the textbook or notes for the exams? Thanks
Vajmeh is a really friendly and helpful professor. She is very knowledgable in the subject of criminology specifically looking at the anti-terrorism act. She gets very nervous in front of large classes causing the relaying of information to be blurred. Read her slides before exams and you will pass with an A. Do readings for further clarity.
Lovely human being. In class she is nervous and hard to understand, but go to her office for clarification - one on one she is very good at explaining. Bonus marks for attendance at random. 2013 was her first time teaching Policy so take ppl's criticism with a fist full of salt.
Helpful, funny at times and teaches from the text which I liked and enjoyed. Made a policy course interesting.
Very Funny/ nice prof. I had her two years ago when she was fairly new to teaching, and again this year. She has gotten a lot better, less nervous and easier to understand. Explains things very well and is accommodating with the dates of midterms/distribution of marks.
She is a good prof but she is fairly new as well so I think she's still getting herself settled with teaching. Attend the class, and make sure you do the readings. She makes class a fun and knowledgeable experience! She uses lectures, videos and guest speakers. And she is very fair with her grades!! :)
Really funny and nice prof. Definitely good at teaching the material, and as long as you go to the classes you'll do good in the class. Overall very good prof!
Extremely disorganized professor with unclear expectations. For a case analysis assignment, I asked for help and instead of helping me, she told me to start over. She showed up to class on time maybe 3-4 times in the semester, every other time she was late. She constantly hesitates when she speaks and doesn't know case details. Very disappointed.
Restorative Justice seemed like an interesting course but this teacher made it extremely boring and unclear. Vajmeh is one of the most disorganized professors I know and she is very unprofessional. Class average on midterm was very low due to her confusing teaching and lack of teaching. Exams are hard and take way too long. Avoid if you can.
Course midterm/final was tough, but showing up to class didn't feel like a chore. Wasn't interested in taking class but it's mandatory for my program; was very pleased that I did as she made it interesting. It shows that she's new but I see her becoming a great prof.
OMG I was so confused all semester and got a horrible final mark (even though I did great on the midterm). However, I have used the textbooks as references for other classes.
I was hesitated about this course in the beginning but as the semester went by the discussions and materials covered made sense and I found the course interesting, challenging and captivating! She is very helpful, nice, and overall I enjoyed this course!
Was skeptical to take a course with this prof after seeing bad reviews but I could not be happier that I did. Amazing prof, very engaging and keeps the information interesting. Doesn't put up slides but if you go to class all the information you need is on her slides. Highly recommend taking a course with her!
Vajmeh is hilarious, had her for CRM2300 & CRM2301 and while it was mandatory attendance (as in, she doesn't post anything online, so show up and take notes or pray to God someone will send them to you), her lectures were great. She cares about her students and is always willing to answer questions, but can sometimes be really vague or confusing.
Hilarious prof! Tabibi swears in like every sentence, but it makes everyone laugh and pay more attention. Clear lectures and interesting readings. Go to class listen and study hard and you will do fine! She is helpful during office hours and entertaining in class :)
Most of her lectures were just follow-ups and clarification on the readings, which was absolutely necessary to make all the students comfortable with the material for this class. Gave lot's of examples and answered question as best as she could. She tells you exactly what she's looking for when grading. Swears like a sailor and is actually awesome.
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH TABIBI! You won't learn anything, she's so confusing and doesn't know her own lectures. If you ask any questions in class, she won't give you a legitimate answer. She's very disorganized and doesn't know what she's talking about more than 50% of the time. She will make your CGPA lower.
really hard marker. you take the exams thinking you did well and get a C. She is funny though and hotter than 99% of the girls in your class.
Some people aren't a fan but I think she is great, I've had her for 2 classes and gotten B+-A in them. If you attend class and take thorough notes you will do well. She has a great sense of humour, and she really appreciates it when students contribute to discussions. Assignments can be unclear but just ask questions and she will specify
Had her last semester and it was hell so I tried to avoid her this semester but she was the only option for this mandatory course. Again, absolute hell. She has no idea what she is doing or what she is saying when she "lectures"; very unorganized prof. Constantly swearing, which is unprofessional and distracting and ridiculous expectations. AVOID!
She is one of my favorite profs. She is super funny and I was always looking forward to going to her class. She likes you to use terms that she mentioned in class so when you study for your midtermfinal make sure you mention those in your answers. I had her twice and got an A+ in one course and an A in another. Would defiantly take her again.
I highly recommend you avoid Tabibi, she doesn't support her students very much and just wants you out of her office hours so she isn't forced to answer a question because she's not confident in her own answers. I don't know how the school considers her qualified to teach, she doesn't deliver lectures very well, very incoherent, very unhelpful
I really enjoy going to Tabibi's lectures, she makes class very interesting and engaging, she's funny and describes material pretty well. I recommend taking her class.
I loved having Vajmeh as a prof, I found her to be very relatable and approachable. Definitely go to class and take notes. Her tests are very difficult and long. Her marking is impossible and expects every single detail. She was a very good prof in that she is clear, uploads partial slides, includes the class, and makes it interesting.
I almost let these reviews scare me away from Tabibi, but I'm glad I didn't. She's funny and down to earth and is available for help. Theories isn't a really exciting class, but I think she still did a good job of teaching it. If you're not clear on something, do the reading and it should be clear, but if not, she's there for extra help!
hard meh
She's absolutely hilarious and the class is so incredibly interesting. I would take this class again without a doubt. One of the best profs you could ask for!
Polarizing professor. Either you love her or hate her. Midterms and finals are usually a regurgitation of what is on her PPT slides + whatever article she makes you read for the final. Sometimes if the class average is too high she will make the next assessment harder to lower it. Office hours are okay - hard to get a straight answer from her.
Vajmeh's expectations for the class are way too high. Her tests are very hard and the class average is always extremely low and a lot of people fail. She does not do a good job of explaining all the material in her lectures and always gets cases mixed up or doesn't remember them, also gets frustrated when nobody participates. Avoid her if possible.
She was a nice teacher overall, but she expects you to know everything for her exams. You better study for weeks for her exams because even if you think you did well, when you get your grade back, you will be very disappointed. She confuses the class by not knowing what she is saying, she is funny and gives personal anecdotes.
She's definitely not a boring prof (swears like mad and talks about her million speeding tickets, very fun), but not always the clearest when explaining concepts or cases. Enjoyed the class, but her marking schemes for the midterm and term paper are RIDICULOUSLY specific, so you really need to study A LOT. The textbook is your absolute best friend.
My main issue I had with her was that she would make things super unclear. She didn't seem to really know her content and would make a lot of mistakes correcting, so if you have her GO LOOK AT YOUR PAPERS AND EXAMS to make sure you didn't get screwed out of points. I'd avoid if I could. It's no fun stressing if your prof is gonna make a mistake.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Not only is she hilarious and makes the material interesting, but she genuinely wants her students to succeed. This class completely changed criminology for me, she's that amazing. Go to her office hours for assignments, she breaks it down completely so you are practically guaranteed an A.
She should not be teaching fourth year mandatory courses that are based on theory. She is very immature and all over the place. She just talked for the entire class, barely used any videos, guest speakers, etc. Very unclear and inconsistent with expectations for take-homes. She deducted a lot of points even when you did exactly what she asked.
Second time having this prof now and I'm starting to see a pattern. She is very unclear in her lectures and mixes things up. Her exam questions are very specific and they don't really mark your understanding of the class content. She puts in trick questions so you loose marks. She swears excessively and shows up late to class and exams as well.
You shouldn't base yourself on what people say, you should definitely make an opinion of your own. To me, she's great and her classes are interesting. She's trying to be as clear as possible, and makes sure everyone understands - she stays after class to answer questions.
This professor seems very unorganized when she teaches lectures. All her slideshows have grammar and spelling mistakes, seems like she made them right before coming to class. I found her tests to be pretty hard and she expects very specific answers from you. Taking an elective with her isn't too bad, I would just avoid any mandatory classes.
I would avoid at all cost. She is very unclear, has norealistic expectations, her tests are hard. She uses essay questions and you need to have her vocabulary to have the points. Very unclear about what is going to be on the final. If you send her an email, do not expect to have an answer until at least 10 days later. Very unprofessionnal.
This prof is alright... but she is constantly confusing the class by contradicting everything she says. I was really excited for this class, but she made it harder than it should've been. 1 midterm, 1 paper, 1 final exam. Questions are super specific so memorize from the lectures.
She has a very selective way of grading so when she gives you a midterm WRITE EVERYTHING. Her lectures are very clear, and I love how conversant her class is. Go to class ESPECIALLY her reviews!!! I would take her again 100%
Unclear, contradictory, and tough exams. Her expectations on the final paper were however clear. She never seemed to convey the material properly and often made mistakes (CRM2300), applying the wrong legal concepts to certain cases. Tough grader, midterm especially, write down all information!
The material in class is interesting, but I find she often repeats herself too often. Many readings, however, the majority of them are easy enough to understand. Exams are difficult, make sure to use the specific terminology to actually get the grade. It's not enough to explain it well, you have to use the right wording or you'll regret it.
I was looking forward to taking this class as the material seemed interesting, however I was disappointed. She likes to state her opinions (She said she was a socialist on the first day and frequently said prisons shouldn't exist). She grades fairly harshly as well. She's not unpleasant just not really a prof I'd like to have again.
She can be confusing/contradictory and definitely outspoken as others have said but never gives a boring lecture. She doesn't make her classes easy and you have to show up + make yourself known if you want to do well. Helpful, kind, and always has a funny/relevant anecdote.
Avoid at all costs. She constantly contradicts herself and does not convey anything clearly. When people suggest that maybe her exam questions weren't clear or the grading was unfair she is immediately defensive and closed off to criticism. She would benefit from reflecting on it because she's an awful professor. Her rating on here says it all.
Vajmeh is hilarious and definitely keeps class interesting (I also had her in 2nd year), she is clearly very passionate about the subject. Her marking and expectations are unclear and unfair. Her statistics are often actually incorrect. Knowing the actual facts and subject matter is not as important for doing well in this class as speaking like her
Vajmeh is definitely a hard lecturer and she makes students work hard during exams. However, she is also incredibly understanding and helpful outside of class. She has explained many concepts to me during office hours and has gone the extra mile to ensure that I do well in her class.
I was afraid to take this class due the the comments on here. I found Prof. Tabibi to be excellent. She explains the concepts very well, she is always availble to talk and she came up with a fantastic essay assignment. Approach her if you need help.
Tough grader with somewhat unclear grading expectations, as the class was graded on a strict rubric with very little leeway. That being said, I really did learn a ton from this class and Vajmeh was a great prof who is truly passionate about the content!
A great professor that makes several laws much easier to understand. Her straightforward approach is easy to follow but her exams are the hardest I've EVER completed. The grading material is unclear and is very unforgiving, while I did enjoy the lectures, never in my life have I had so much anxiety going into the exam.
She's alright i guess. Her criminal law class is interesting but i think shes too strict when it comes to grading considering most students havent worked with the law before. She also sometimes contradicts herself and the textbook, so make sure on tests you look over your grades to see you got all the points you deserve. Good and funny lectures.
People say her exams are difficult but I just got out of a midterm and it was a piece of cake. She tells you exactly what she wants to see in your exams and she gives great and interesting lectures. Good feedback as well. Doesn't post slides but if you do your readings and listen attentively you'll do just fine. Overall, great prof and she's funny.
i love tabibi as a professor. she's a super fun lecturer and always makes funny anecdotes during class about everything. i had her for 2300 and 2303 and 2300 was a lot easier - she is very clear about what she expects and the midterms are fair. 2303 is super boring but she tries to make it fun. the midterm is a bit harder but the assignment is cool
Interesting lectures, but good luck getting ahold of her. I emailed her countless times and would get a reply a week later if I even got a reply. I had to reach out to the TA for everything. she's a tough grader, you have to make sure you can remember every single detail. which is hard when she doesn't answer emails so you can get clarification
Vajmeh is a lovely prof. CRM2300 is a hard course and requires a lot of work (memorization, understanding, application). I thought Vajmeh conveyed the material effectively and with enthusiasm. I had CRM2300 as a 7-10pm... it was long, but I didn't find myself checking the clock like I do in other 3 hour lectures. Not a bird course for sure!
Compared to 2300, 2303 is much easier. The concepts are more straight forward and if you show up to class and take notes to study you'll do fine on the exams. Her lectures are pretty entertaining despite the content of the course. Only criticism I have is sometimes she's a little disorganized (errors in PPT, emails etc.).
Vajmeh is a tough grader, but a lovely prof! She is very empathetic and accommodating, always open to office hour appointments. Her lectures contain a lot of material. I have had her for a few classes and her format is: concept/ definition, explanation, example. If you put in the effort you will get an easy A. She does not post notes lectures.
Vajmeh is passionate about abolitionism. She is hilarious & makes lectures interesting. The paper is extremely difficult as she asking for easily 15 pages of information in 8-10 pages. That's impossible while also properly analyzing the information. She isnt that effective in explaining the material but it could also the material is confusing
Her exams are god-awful, her lectures and actions are mismanaged, poor, and unprofessional. Her class gives me anxiety and Im a normally calm person. She's making me reconsider my major.
The average on our midterm was 59%, and she said that was the highest its been in a few years. If you want to lose your mind trying to wrap your head around her very poorly formatted exams and useless lectures, take this class. If not, avoid with a 20 foot pole
Vajmeh makes no sense at all. Her lectures are disorganized, she is unprofessional, and confusing. The class average is extremely low and it's because of her. She might be decent in second year in-person classes, but fourth year abolitionism online with her was painful and it didn't have to be that way if she was more accommodating and organized.
She's a sweet lady, but do not take this class with her if it's important to you. Lectures are unclear, contradicts herself constantly, and goes off on tangents that aren't pertinent and waste time (like case details that don't matter). She also is not lenient when it comes to posting material and her marking schemes can sometimes be arbitrary.
Memorize by the textbook she assigns. She tends to contradict herself a lot in class so the textbook will be your best friend. Still attend class though because she covers cases that aren't in the textbook that are helpful for exam questions. Definitely not an easy A but it's possible if you really put in the work for it.
Extremely vague when she teaches. She constantly contradicts herself and in practically every sentence she stumbles on her words when she's explaining something, making it extremely difficult to follow. It's as if she's having 3 conversations with herself at the same time. The feedback given after a midterm is atrociously unhelpful.
takes weeks to respond to emails so keep that in mind when you have questions regarding assignments/office hours. She is also a prof that will tell you to "read the textbook, attend lectures and overall submit the correct answers" yet has pride in giving her students low grades. her feedback is confusing & is a very hard marker. avoid if u can
lmao ive had her twice now & AWFUL will not take again. she doesnt give a lot of feedback & literally says she just wants the right answer & enough detail for exams but marks stupid hard & doesnt really explain what she wants. literally just the right answer. also goes off topic in class a lot & her & ta would only go over 2 qs for the midterm
Very confusing and contradictory lectures, gives very vague lectures but expects extremely detailed midterms and exams. Tells class that a 58% average is fine and will not give any more clear grading criteria. Terrible lectures and even worse exams, Avoid this prof!!!
Had her once and she was terrible, this is my second class with her as my prof because she was the only prof for this course. Gives extremely unclear grading criteria and marks extremely tough on exams, only benefit of the class is the bond between students for shared frustration with the prof. Horrible prof , stay way.
She's honestly a terrible prof. very disorganized lectures, goes on tangents and makes it confusing
She is the worst prof ever. So unclear and extremely tough for no reason. Gives terrible instructions and expects way too much. The only good thing is that everyone hates her so we can bond over that. Never take a class with her.
I have had Vajmeh for 2 classes and she has been very confusing in both. She constantly contradicts herself, making it hard to follow along and take decent notes. Her midterms are unnecessarily hard as expectations are not clear. She seems like a nice and caring person, but not a very great prof with the constant disorganization, but she tries.
i've had her two times already in 2020-2021. she's is very disorganized when it comes to lecturing. her material is not clear she's not clear. her exams don't make sense and are hard to understand. she's also very unreasonable. surprised the department isn't doing anything about her since everyone is complaining. Avoid her class at all costs.
CRM2300 was a very interesting class focusing on criminal law. Vajmeh did an amazing job teaching this class. I barely passed her class but I learned so much and really enjoyed the content. With her, work very hard and you will succeed. By very hard I do mean very hard. (this review applies to crm2300 only).
Professor Tabibi is one of the worst professors I've had in my four years at uOttawa. She rants as though she has no idea what she's talking about and her sentence structure when she speaks is so confusing it is impossible to follow along accurately. She give unclear instructions on her assignments and midterms and expects us to just figure it out
Lectures were pre-recorded but only available for a few days. Her lectures are all over the place and she bounces back and forth - definitely not clear. She's an extremely difficult grader. Midterm was all long answer and she is very critical, if your response is not the exact answer she wants than you will get no marks.
Beware. Really hard marker and very specific with what she wants. Even when you think you did amazing on an exam, you won't get the mark you were expecting - it's a very humbling experience lol. Review your midterm exam over with the T.A so you can try to improve for the final.
This is my second time with this prof, I thought this time if I put in more work and focus on the lectures I could possibly achieve a better grade. the reality is this prof is just horrible. She gives opened ended questions with multiple correct answers yet expects you to answer in a very specific way. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
no words can explain how awful of a professor she is. you can be a straight A student and nearly fail her course for how strict, unreasonable, and unclear she is
so unorganized, unclear, and contradicting in lectures. you will never receive good marks on exams because you must answer with SPECIFIC words she wants, even though questions are open-ended and can have multiple different answers. trying to get proper feedback or instructions for assignments is ridiculously hard. don't torture yourself
i'm a fourth year student, and this is my 3rd time taking her i had no choice. Each time I thought she would improve i'm wrong. She does not know how to teach properly. I lived off of reading my textbooks and looking at quizlet flashcards from past students. I took her class Crm 2300 two times, each time is the same. She's very confusing. avoid her
AVOID THIS CLASS, take the course with another prof if you can, you will ruin your GPA. I thought the previous reviews were exaggerated, but they are all correct. She only keeps her job due to the professor union. Professor Tabibi when you're reading this (I know you read these reviews, you said so on the first day of class) get it together please
Vajmeh's class is always very interesting. She has a great attitude and clearly enjoys her job! You MUST attend class and take good notes to do well. She and the T.A. are incredibly difficult markers - you will most likely not come out of her class with a good mark. Recommend her class if you are looking to learn a lot, however your GPA may suffer.
Her tests, papers and exam are not challenging. However, her grading is. I was never accommodated extra time for my midterm. She was a strict marker in our one-piece for the class, especially with citations for APA. If you also go over the page limit when it comes to assignments. You will automatically lose a lot of marks.
this is by far the worst professor I've had in my university career. She submitted our grades from a midterm we wrote over a month ago 2 DAYS BEFORE OUR FINAL EXAM. She does not provide feedback at all so get ready to be confused. When you try to contact her she'll just deflect and tell you to contact the TA. Cannot believe she is allowed to teach
Her accent can sometimes be difficult to understand but she's very accommodating. Assignments take long to grade however.
I personally really liked her lectures and it helped understand many concepts, but just read the textbook if you don't understand - it's the same content as the lecture. Hard marker for sure and there was never enough time to finish writing the exams and midterms. Heard that she does not respond well outside of lectures, so be careful of that.
Tends to say something and will backtrack on it, making it extremely hard to understand what should be noted. She is very unclear with what she wants to see in answers. I wish she would provide feedback or the correct answers for her exams so students could improve work rather than guessing and hoping for the best
You can study as much as you like for this class but as other reviews say, you are not leaving with a good grade. Vajmeh is a hard grader and her rubrics for papers and projects are heavily flawed and vague. It seems as though she prides herself on being a difficult grader. This class will hit your GPA so be prepared for that. Avoid at all costs!
If you go to class, do the readings and go see her for help then you do well in her class. I learned a lot in her criminal law class and would recommend it if you want to learn and are serious about school.
Ignore all the good ratings, she was awful. Unfortunately, I think she's the only prof that teaches this course so all us CRM students go through her. She will be the worst experience in your undergraduate studies. Sacrificed my sanity for a B which was one of the better grades in the entire class. Read and take notes of everything. U got this
She is a tough marker- BUT- if you pay attention to the readings, go to class, and go see her regarding help or any concerns, she will help you and make herself available to you. She simply prefers to be there for students who she sees care about learning and about the material- I would 100% recommend her and take the course again.
You MUST attend lectures and take notes in order to do well, as the lecture material is unaccessible outside of class since it's not posted or recorded. Assessments are exclusively based on class material and she's direct with her expectations. Strict marker. If you attend and take notes during lectures you'll do fine. Overall she's alright.
Frankly, she was ok. I think the 1 star ratings were too harsh, but I would not go anything over a 3/5. While attendance wasn't mandatory, it basically was since lectures weren't accessible on brightspace, so keep that in mind. She is picky when it comes to marks, so make sure you're on point as possible. Other than that, she's ok.
She is so unclear about what she wants, and she is a tough grader. She also does not tell you where you got things wrong, and when you ask her a question, you'll never get the answer that you want/expected
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Her teaching style is very confusing and unclear. You will be given a random jumble of information and have to literally decode whatever she is saying. Her classes and teaching style are insufferable and complicated. I retaught myself everything using the textbook. She also messed up on a few of the cases / criminal codes.
CRM students - this will be your worst experience, but - you can do it. There's no surprise that this is the class that most CRM students fail in their undergrad. Secretly recording the lectures and using it to study was the only way I got a C in this course. It's unfortunate that such an interesting course has such a difficult prof. U got this!!!
This class has a LOT of content, she teaches in a very particular way, mostly using cases to teach the material. The textbook will be your bff, she also often uses the scenario questions at the end of the chapters for her midterms and for the final. After the first midterm it's all application q's. So practice practice the textbook q's and ur good!
Ok so ya'll are overreacting like CRAZY. She's tough, she's hard, she's demanding, but she's also sweet, funny, and understanding. Maybe it's different for her large classes but for her smaller ones she's great as a prof. Just cite multiple readings for each assignment. Biggest flaw: her grading criteria for assignments is unclear.
I've taken two classes with Vajmeh and will now actively avoid her like the plague. Vajmeh is great at lectures, entertaining, and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, she is a very harsh grader, so if you care about a high gpa, take the class with a different prof if possible. If your first grade comes back lower than expected, don't be shocked.
Prepare for a challenge, but stay focused and utilize Unstuckstudy and the textbook, and you can succeed in this demanding course. The professor's unique teaching style requires engagement, but is worthwhile.
ive had her multiple times throughout my criminology degree and shes great. she is def a tough grader but i genuinely believe ive learned the most in her lectures. the things ive learned in her class has helped me in so many aspects of my life. shes funny and will explain concepts more in depth if you need. make sure to read and take notes.
It's hard to give her a rating because she's really nice and funny in class, but she's SO. INCREDIBLY. DIFFICULT. I've had tough profs before, but this is on another level. I didn't get a single thing wrong on my midterm and still only got a 50%. I really like her personality, but as a professor, unfortunately I can't give her over a 3/5 rating.
I have nothing to say but avid her at all cost
She's funny, cool and knowledgable but damn her exams are a nightmare as she is a tough grader. I think she's better off making the exams open book atp so students can find the write words to please her.
I've unfortunately had her 3 times now for compulsory courses. She's a very hard grader, rambles in class on unrelated subjects often, and doesn't give any feedback or return midterms. The worst part is that you can't avoid her without taking classes in French, you need to do all the readings multiple times.
I understand why people may give her bad review but truly she is a good professor! Her exams are easy if you go to class, pay attention and take notes. Basically all you have to do is spew back everything she taught word by word and you will ace it! There is little to no opportunity to bs your way through her course. Very smart and caring woman!
nice prof but her lectures get very repetitive and she says the same thing in different ways over and over. she's a super hard marker and for the midterms even if you understand the material, you likely wont pass if you dont repeat it exactly how she says it in class
pay attention to every single word she says. she'll want exact answers that way on assignments. closed book assessments for everything. she's probably a sweet person but as a prof she def doesn't want you to succeed lol
In her lectures she seems like such a great and fun prof. As soon as you get your first midterm back, you will realize where all the bad ratings come from. If you do not write down exactly what she says and exactly how she says it, you will not pass. 2 midterms and 1 final. You can't avoid her unless you take your class in french. Lock. in.
Lecs are not recorded and slides are not posted. if you miss a lecture, too bad. there's no way to access any of the material she's teaching unless you attend lecs and take notes. the course's brightspace page has nothing on it but the syllabus.
Your GPA will drop. Harshly graded. Unorganized. Lectures all over the place. Everything is last minute and poor communication. No accommodation. You will learn things (not graded on) but if you want to do well, pass, succeed and get feedback, forget it. Dont waste your time and save your GPA. Contradicts the meaning of professor. Not prof material
You will not succeed in this class. You are on your own and you will fail even if you memorize the whole textbook and her slides she will fail you because it is plagiarism for her.
Unbelievably strict, difficult, and incompetent. Can't be bothered to update syllabus when things change (Syllabus claimed midterm would be held at 10:00, instead occurring at 9:00. Syllabus claimed midterm to be essay-style questions, was actually a mix of multiple choice and short answer). Avoid at all costs.
I'm usually a good student, I was given the first D+ in this class that I thought I should've gotten an A. I usually don't get grades lower than a B. I attended every class, wrote good notes, did ALL the required reading and studied for all her tests (~6-8 hours)
I saw the rates & still took her class bc I thought ppl were dramatic… wrong. She prays on her students' downfall & doesn't want you to succeed. Her exams require a lot of detail & if u think u did well and studied hard, not enough. Time allocated for exams isn't enough for how much info she wants. No prof teaching an ELECTIVE should be this tough.
Not worth taking this class - the professor is lecture heavy and does not post anything to the brightspace past the course outline. The exams require extensive level of detail, and they do not give you enough time to complete them. The professor often swears in class, comes unprepared & is unsure of the content. Not worth it for an elective.
just avoid this course at all cost, listen to all the reviews. You will simply struggle to even get a B in this course, the worst courses I've taken have been with this professor.
Very passionate about teaching, very effective teaching style, and exams didn't have any trick questions. I passed with a b+ with minimal effort. I'm not sure why everyone thinks she was a harsh grader, for 2nd-year classes, I thought this one was a blessing.
