I hated writing, but Ms. Lanham made it fun. Class was long but she is funny and makes everyone laugh. Time goes by kind of fast.

She always help you if you ask her or you can always stay after class to let her explain you more about your papers or anyting about classwor. she very funny to she know how to teach and I love her. ish I an take her agian but she doesn't teach on fall term :( but you will learn alot if your not good at writing.

She is very helpful with answering questions. She is also wonderful at revising your papers and helping you see what should be changed! School isn't my favorite but I do enjoy her class!

Professor Lanham is the best writing teacher. She makes the class so much fun. She also helps you as much as you need help with anything you need. No matter if you are the last one in class. I would take her again but can not. So for those of you are taking her for the writing class you will not be sorry that you took the class. Blessings.

Professor Lanham is everything a student is looking for in a teacher. She is funny and is always willing to go the extra mile to help students. Don't take her class lightly though, she makes you work for your grade. I would highly recommend her as a teacher. PS: Stay off your cell phone! one of the best teachers i've had by far! i took her for an 8 week course, it was the same amount of work just in crunch time. she made it very understandable and easy. i hardly ever used the norton sampler and never once opened the little brown handbook. she gives pop quizzes though and final is online, didnt have to go for that. highly reccommend

She is one of the best teachers I have ever had when it comes to writing essays. She always answers your questions and teaches in a fun and interactive way. She does grade tough when it comes to essays but, your writing will get better because if her criticisms and lessons.

Great Class! She is very helpful, although you have to be the one to approach her. You pick the topic on essay. Relatively easy class. You would need to discuss during class. It's not a lecture.Interesting stories when everyone is bored. I would have taken her again but didn't see her on the roster for class signups this is Jonathan second row :)

She is honestly a great teacher! All the people out there saying she isn't is crazy! Yes, she grades hard but that's because she wants you to succeed. Be on time to her class and don't miss! Make sure you take your time on the papers. Nice Lady

She is a GREAT instructor! Make sure you do all the essays, and take advantage of printing them out and handing them to her to review. She was very understanding and has a great personality. If you're a slacker, don't take her class.

She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She does grade hard, but she prepares you for it so whether or not she grades hard if you pay attention you will have no problem. I would def recommend her and would take her for every writing class! Tells great stories also may seem like a tangent but relates back to what you're going over.

She is fabulous! If you ask questions she will proofread your work for you. If you struggle with a concept she will spend time helping you. She won't give you a grade you didn't earn but if you put in the effort she will do everything possible to help you be supportive. Just a wonderful person and professor who cares! Refreshing!

She doesn't lecture but more group discussions that are actually very interesting! She makes you work for your grade but if you generally try she will grade good and just tell you what to improve in the future. I love her class and will definitely be taking her for comp 2. Love ya Miss Lanham!

She is a great teacher for a freshmen english class, as she is very helpful and starts from the basics. Strict on phones and computers, but other than that she is a good teacher and I would take her again.

The class was easy. A few online assignments weekly, I took her class this past fall as my first express course and she keeps her guidelines very clear. She says no late work but in the beginning she will be understanding. Attendance is very important in her class and the book (its short- just skim)!

By far the best professor I have ever had. I had her for Comp. 1 and loved her so much that I took her again for Comp. 2. She's so friendly and helpful and not of all understanding. She never hands you answers but she doesn't let you fail. She will sit with you and do whatever it takes to make sure you pass. She's funny and down to earth.

Ms. Lanham is a teacher that truly cares about her students. And she constantly reminds you about upcoming due dates and assignments. Along with that she offers to review your essays if you give them to her prior to the due date which can bring an B paper to an A. She also gives extra credit if you go out of your way to participate in class.

Professor Lanham is an excellent teacher and really takes her time to ensure the course information is clear and well presented. She gives great feedback, is helpful and responds to emails quickly. I would take this course again and wish she taught other subjects.

Ms. Lanham was my favorite teacher I had this semester. The class isn't all about lecture, like most professors. It's a composition course so of course you're going to write. . . well type in her class. The assignments are very easy and short. Tips for when you do papers: don't wait until the weekend it's due. Overall, very easy class.

Took class online during the summer. Quite a bit of workload but it is all easy stuff. She doesn't put everything up at once so hard to work too far ahead. Answers emails very fast and does have a passion for wanting you to pass. Would definitely take her again.

Ms. Lanham is a wonderful professor who is concise, organized, and fair when it comes to teaching. Plenty of weekly writing assignments, but all you have to do is read two short stories - it's really not that bad. Plus she's inspirational, and loves what she does. You'll actually learn in this class. Take her and have fun!

If a prof ever deserved 5 stars, it is her. She encourages you to share ideas and will listen if you think you were graded unfairly. I was taught to examine my world more closely & express myself. 10/10 teacher w/ funny lectures. My only complaint is that sometimes explanations were "over explained," & a little tedious. Otherwise, best prof. ever.

I've taken Ms. Lanham for the past two semesters and I'm honestly gonna miss her when this semester ends. She somehow manages to grab your attention and make class interesting even when you're tired and don't wanna be there. Ms. Lanham was one of the best teachers I have had so far at St. Petersburg College. She really cares about her students. She will keep you laughing but don't take that for granted. You've got to work for your grade. I took her for both ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 and it was the best decision I've made in my life. You won't regret taking her!

Took professor Lanham for my Comp11 summer express class. She was very sweet and very responsive to any questions I had. Short stories to read out of the book then have to write on them. Also have about 3 papers a midterm and final. Extra credit group activity online. As long as you put in the work you will pass! Highly recommend her!!

I'd say she's an easy grader, it didn't take much time for me to do the discussion boards weekly. I took the class online and most weeks we read 2 short stories and submitted a 250 word discussion for each. She gave 100s liberally. Midterm and final were easy, I didn't study for either and got a 94 and an 88. She also gave extra credit. Good teache

Ms. Lanham is a seriously cool professor! She's super sweet and a good majority of the classes are just talking back and forth. She GENUINELY wants you to get a good grade and allows you to submit your papers to her for grading as many times as you would like before the actual due date. EASY A's.. I ended up with a 97 in the course. She's amazing!

This class involved much reading and discussion posts. Her feedback was easy to follow and grading criteria is clear. You will write some papers towards the end that make up most of your grade. Take the time to fully understand what it is you're reading because the topics come back up again. Overall she's a great teacher who cares.

Excellent! I took Valery Lanham's Comp 1 and loved it. I am going to take Comp 2 with her because Dr. Lanham is an excellent teacher. She has a passion for what she teaches, and she genuinely cares about her students and their success. She teaches with a nonchalance and ease; however, she holds you accountable to your work.

Dr. Lanham's class was a pleasure to be part off. ENC1101 was my first class in college and online. She is very easy to communicate with and responds very quickly if you have a question. The workload is not overwhelming. Follow her recommended corrections on your papers and you will be successful.

Professor Lanhman is a great teacher. She grades fair and gives you wonderful feedback. Professor Lanham really does care and will help you whenever you need it and to top it off she is hilarious in class!! Best comp 1 teacher to take!

I have taken professor Lanham for English 1 and 2. In both instances grading is clear and every assignment completed has an example of exactly how she wants the course done. In English 1101 if you follow the exact structures to all of the example essays you will get an A, the same goes for her English 1102. Great professor I highly recommend.

I took Professor Lanhams course online. She is a very easygoing grader and most importantly wants to see that you put forth some effort. You can easily obtain an A if you attempt every assignment. There is quite a bit of writing, but its expected in an English class. She will work with you and encourages you to reach out for help.

I really enjoyed Professor Lanham. Completely fair to all students, make sure you make deadlines because she is strict on that, but gave good extra credit options. Gave really good feedback and her class was set up very organized. I recommend taking her if you want to learn a lot about how to make good essays. TAKE. HER. CLASS.

Dr. Lanham was a great professor. I took an 8-week accelerated course. I had zero confidence in my writing ability before I took this class, so I was very apprehensive about taking it. After taking this class, I have much more confidence in my skills. It was a great experience.

I loved her class so much. She gives feedback on everything and she cares about every one of her students. You do have to try on her homework assignments, she does not tolerate people who half do their work. Her lectures were entertaining and fun. She does not talk at you, she asks for opinions and gets everyone involved with the discussion.

Great professor! 8 short stories we had to do an analysis of. 3 papers, (i forget 1st paper, 2nd paper was about a film you can pick from like 15 movies, 3rd is a reflection paper on what you learned), 2 test,= 1 midterm- was like 40 questions about the short stories. Let's just say I did bad on it, and a final with 25 questions. Nothing proctored

Prof yaps, boring class. Bit funy. 6 short stories 10% discussions. Essays 60% one is short story essay other is pick film/career. Midterm/final 20% midterm is 40 q of short stories & short response. Final: 25 questions about APA/MLA. MLA heavy. Involved in community: student gov & school events. Strict 11:30pm deadline. Letter grade of until Wed

I took Dr. Lanham for both comp 1 and 2, I thought she made the material really easy to understand and all though she is a little bit of a tough grader she gives amazing feedback for future references. However, her lectures are 99% talking which was really hard to sit through so I would recommend doing online.

Amazing professor! Follow her instructions and listen to her feedback and you will pass. She tells you exactly how to succeed and if something is unclear she replies to emails very fast. I'm actually really sad I won't be able to take more classes with her. Her course is very streamlined and easy to understand/navigate. Cherish Dr. Lanham!

Dr. Lanham could be described as a tough-love professor, but don't let this fool you. She is very focused on student success in and outside of her classroom. As long as you complete her assignments on time, put enough effort in, and are respectful with her, you will have passed one of the best classes you could take with one of the best professors!

I completed the 8-week course. The course had 3 essays (not counting the EC essay at the end) and discussion posts. Overall, the course was manageable for an 8-week format, with about 2–3 weekly assignments. This course does not require a textbook. No finals. Dr. Lanham responded to emails promptly and provided excellent feedback.

Dr. Lanham was a good professor. At times, she can be a strict grader, but she is very caring and wants each one of her students to succeed. She helps prepare you for your future and gives good advice. She also responds to emails in an appropriate time range. In her class, she gives feedback to each person individually at times, which is helpful.

i'd take this class again , she's a teacher who genuinely wants to help and will be understanding about due dates if something is going on at home and she will help you with whatever you have a question on with no problem! Nothing is proctored but she does use turn it in for essays

I loved taking Dr. Lanham's ENC 1101. She was always there whenever I had a question. She explained things to me clearly and gave me the confidence to continue even though I lost 20 points for turning in an essay late. I completed the extra credit assignment and earned an A. I highly recommend taking her class.

I took her online, and she provided me all of the help I needed. Use your resources and look through all of the modules. If you're careless in this class, expect to not do well. This class requires you to be vigilant. My only complaint is that she uses an AI checker which, personally isn't reliable, as some of your writing could be detected as AI.

Overall, good professor. Semester is fairly simple first half, there is discussion posts on short stories once a week, 3 essays on a short story, a film/career, and a reflection. She keeps her students up to date on everything going on around campus as well as different scholarships. She grades fairly and if she takes points off, she tells you why.
