I took the Strategic Learning Strategies class and Valerie was a great teacher! The class taught me how to write notes, comprehend, make my own tests, ect. I recommend this class for everybody who wants to do better in school! I am now taking Memory Strategies and I am really excited about it!

This class i think is very important for study habits and memorization. i would not have understood or been able to apply the incredible concepts if valerie had not been the incredible professor she is...thanks valerie!!

I have been out of school for years and needed to brush up on my study skills. After taking this class I realized I never really had any study skills. I am now extremely organized and I feel in control of all my classes because this course has taught me how to take notes and study. By far, this is the best money I have spent in college.

Very fun and active. She knows what it's like to be overwhelmed with responsibilities so she understands what a busy college mom is going through. She makes the subject very interesting and her classes use books from your other classes so you don't even have to purchase books for her class! Grades fair and prepares you to get you but in the seat!

Definitely recommend this class for anybody especially to those going to college for the first time. Valerie teaches you how to read your textbook, how to take notes from your book and in class lectures. Attendence counts toward your grade but the course is only six weeks long so it's not that hard to do.

I would most definitely recommend her to anyone!I really liked the class and believe i learned a lot from it. No,she is not always focused on exactly what is in the syllabus,but i believe anything she ever uses class time for is worth knowing. Also she works in the writing center, if you ever need help with writing a paper!

Mrs. Mann is a beautiful person inside and out. Absolutely beyond amazing. I learned more from her than I have from all of my professors combined. The only thing was, the assignments were sometimes not clear. Other than that she is amazing and goes out of her way to help you succeed. I would recommend her to anyone!

We had a guy in our class who was beyond annoying and would ask something right after she said it and she would always repeat herself just for him. Shes so helpful, makes learning fun, and wonderful wonderful person.

The class is designed to teach you skills that you immediately put into practice. The assignments where you apply the skills to another class, seem time consuming but is like two birds with one stone. While there are no tests, there is a final project in which you use all the skills you learned in the class which takes about 4 hours to do.

An extremely nice woman who will sometimes go off-topic, but she really likes all of her students and is always smiling. Some of the assignments can be time-consuming, especially the final, but you learn a lot to help you with whatever you're struggling with.

Valerie is awesome. Take her. I learned so much from her about learning strategies, and self discipline from just seeing the effort she puts into everything in her own life (getting up early to grade our assignments and get them to us timely, taking care of her family and self...) Her kindness and integrity inspired me.

I took Professor Mann for College 135. It was an online winter class so everything went SUPER fast! That's really the only reason why she has so many assignments. I took this class over winter break so it was very fast paced. I feel like I learned a lot about myself and have a better idea of what I'm wanting to do with myself. I think that this class would be very beneficial for a freshman or anyone wanting to figure out what they want to do as a career.

I took this class online. Valerie was very nice and always very quick to reply back if I had any questions. There was a bit of work to do but it was enjoyable. I learned a lot.

She is very helpful and will sometimes reply to her emails within less than an hour. The knowledge I obtained in this class will be put to good use in anything else I will take in college. I love how she teaches critical thinking and doesn't only discuss one way to do things. The class even goes over how to resolve conflicts with others.

Prof Mann is very thorough in her teaching styles. In person, she ensures that everyone understands the topics and gives great insight into college strategies. She sometimes can overdo it by going unnecessarily in depth, but at the same time, she probably is helping someone in some way so that's why she does it. Show up and you will pass.

Dr. Mann loves what she does. She is truly passionate about teaching and seeing others succeed. Her grading criteria was clear and as long as you turn in your assignments, you will pass. With that said, there would times while in her class that would be repetitive and favor the students who did not show up to class.

Professor Mann was an eager professor that wants to help everyone. She doesn't require many videos to watch and the assignments are pretty self-explanatory. You have to want to do well in the class for good grades because there are about 5 assignments due every week. They're pretty easy and I have waited until the last hour to do them and get A's.

Great teacher who geniunely cares. I had over 100% in the class the whole year just because I paid attention to assignments and did them on time. She also accepts work for full credit for weeks after. She was great at team building and giving us tools to succeed. . I didn't open the text book once lol, but show up for class.

This class is not hard but it is time-consuming if you don't stay on top of your work. Most are easy to complete if you have prior knowledge of basic job resumes, cover letters, interviewing and etc. Show your enthusiasm and she will do the same because she truly does care!

Valerie Mann was one of my favorite teachers/professors I have ever had. It may have been an online class but it felt personal with this class always. She asks you to do some difficult things but they are only difficult because of the self-searching it takes. I think this course was incredible and I am so thankful that I took this class.

She is inspirational and shares about herself which makes the class better. It may feel like there is lots of homework, but it's simple and not hard to manage.

She provides lessons that open your eyes in various ways. She prompts assignments in ways that evoke deep self-reflection and give you real-world scenarios. I feel her grading is based on participation. As long as you give some thought to the discussions and other assignments, you are good to go.

Great professor!

We had 8 assignments each week, 4 due Sunday night 4 due Wednesday night. These were not difficult. A lot of work is optional. Some of the assignments were much too open ended for me but some people like that.

While this class didn't involve any really hard material, there was a lot of work required for it. Dr. Mann gave amazing feedback on most assignments and it's easy to do well because she lays out her expectations clearly. Her canvas layout was very user friendly and when I reached out with a question she was very understanding.

The online course of College Success 200 was a great course. Professor Mann very easy to reach and would respond with all worries or questions quickly. She was very understanding of all circumstances and her curriculum is well written to help students.

Great teacher, awesome tools and great sources to figure yourself out. Would recommend this class to anyone unsure about their journey.

A great class/professor that I would encourage folks to take over a regular semester so you can really soak/try all the different strategies that are presented to you. I took it over summer and fell behind due to life/work but I know Professor Mann cut me some slack when it came to turning some stuff late when I communicated to her my struggles.

Course material wasn't particularly difficult but it can take some time if you really dig deep into it. You get what you put into this course and it's meant to help you do a bunch of self reflection/goal/system setting to help your navigate your life. Doctor Mann is a great professor who cares about her students. She has an amazing Canvas page, and it's super easy to follow. For me, it was only half of the semester, and I still got 3 credits. There are usually 3 assignments due every Thursday and Sunday. The assignments are easy to do and are very insightful. Also, there are no tests or quizzes.

You get what you put in to this class! There are 3-4 assignments due every Sun and Thur, and the time you spend on them is really determined by whether or not you are taking the class for free credits or a real learning opportunity! I enjoyed this class and Prof. Mann always gives good feedback or comments on assignments.

She really nice and willing to help if you miss assignments. She still gives full credit even if you turn it in late.

Dr. Valerie Mann is absolutely amazing! The class was very applicable, organized, and useful---total game changer. Every student should take this class early on in their college career or while in high school.

I'll say she is unforgiving when students forget minor details. I received an F once, when I forgot a single design element! Use your creativity and ask lots of questions to succeed!
