This professor may come off mean at first, but she really isnt... actually she has a good sense of humor. She DOES give you topics for papers but gives you the chance to create your own topic if none of hers interest you. She walks you through the research paper so it is not so overwhelming. just do your papers and you will be fine.

I was first unsure about signing up for her class in the beginning but she is a great teacher. Very clear on what she expects and walks you through everything. Not much work (besides papers) involved, just a lot of class discussions. For anyone who is worried about english 2, I strongly suggest her...I ended with an A.

Very good teacher! Analyzes a poem or story and makes you think so deeply of them you are amazed. Research paper is main project at end of semester kind of hard but she is an amazing teacher. If you ask for help sometimes she makes you feel stupid but i think it's her own humor i dont think its intentional. English 2 awsome class!!! Shes great!

Nice teacher she some times come off as being mean but she doesn't give a lot of work like most English 1 prof. i liked her!! oh and she takes late paper even though she might look at you mean while she takes it.

She is a great teacher. She can be tough. show up to class be prepared and do your work and you will pass. This teacher actually expects you to work. Which is a good thing. A++++ in my book.

Ms. Russell is very nice but can be strict. If your not paying attention, it will be hard to pass. She does give you everything you need to pass and its a pretty smooth class. Make sure you pay attention to the Syllabus.

I love her. She can seem strict but if you are willing to try she is willing to help. I love her personality and she is easy to get along with. I am taking her next semester for English II. I highly recommend her!

shes cool really nice woman, but you jus have to show that you care about the class, once you do that she will have a pretty high level of respect for you. She is also a great teacher always willin to help, a little strict but likes to have fun

She's straight forward and to the point, I like this. She has a dry sense of humor that I get and would loved to have taken her again for ENC 1102. The one's complaining about her being harsh are the one's that show up to her class once a week and might turn in a paper.

Mrs. Russell may lack good jokes, and she may not come out to help or give out extra credit yet she is a good teacher. She will help you when asked, but will not walk you through the whole process, that is what the tutors are for. If you care about class and work for your grade she respects you. What more could you ask for?

Mrs. Russell may come across as rude but she is a great teacher who set expectations & expects her students to know better. We are adults now. Do the work & do it right. The stories she picks are not boring at all. If u have no prob following directions, u will have no problem with her class. She does not baby u,so come self motivated.

Prof. Russell is a great professor! She ACTUALLY EXPLAINED how to do everything! Her tests are NOT hard (if you show up for class), and she makes sure you know how to do everything, and does not assign a huge amount of work. She has a great sense of humor and is VERY sarcastic! I am taking her for English 2 next semester! Go to class& you'll pass!

Mrs. Russell is a great teacher and i have enjoyed having her class and will take her or enc1102 bc i learned a lot in her class and if you go to class and do your work you can get a good grade. Her class is not an easy A if u don't like to do work. She is Highly Recommended

She is definitely not an easy A. Very sacastic, but I found her very funny. If you want to be lazy, she is not the teacher for you. Come to class everyday, and come prepared and you will pass.

This is not a goof off class. This professor is quick witted and easy going IF YOU DO YOUR WORK. Like I said this is not a class you take to good off. She is a good professor and a nice woman. You should be ashamed of yourself for bashing her because you didn't put forth the effort to do a good job. Shame on you. I got an A in this class.

I received a good grade in her class. I found her really funny at times and she was pretty helpful with the assignments. I liked her overall as a teacher and I'm definitely going to take her again for English two.

Pretty good teacher. She always lets class out like 45 minutes early everyday, probably only spent the whole time in class twice. She is sarcastic and grades on what you really deserve. Id take her again.

Great professor. Teaches well and always lets out class early. She gives five essays, but they aren't difficult. I'm taking her for english two.

Mrs. Russell seems to a very nice lady, but DO YOUR WORK. She is a hard grader she's a bit picky when it comes to your writing assignments she will take off points for minor mistakes. I took her class online DO YOUR WORK ATTEND MEETINGS OR YOU WILL FAIL HER CLASS SHE DOES NOT JOKE TAKE HER CLASS VERY SERIOUS.

I took her online English class over the summer. She does assign a lot of work, but they're pretty fun assignments. She doesn't accept any excuses and she can be pretty sarcastic, but I thought her class was pretty great! Just make sure you stay on top of your work!

She's a great teacher. Make sure you read the stories and do the papers. She's very helpful and certainly makes a boring topic a lot more interesting and easier to understand. I definitely recommend taking her!

Ms. Russell is very strict. She can be rude sometimes but she helps you to do better. I recommend her class.

Mrs Russell is very organized. Her lectures are interesting and she adds some jokes and laughs to them. Do not wait the night before to start an assignment- there is a small chance you'll receive a good grade. She's a nice person and if you do what she asks you to do (studying and assignment wise) you'll receive an A or a B, i promise!

If you are not good at english do not take this class. You get to leave class early a lot but it is not worth it. I did not enjoy this class at all. I ended with a B but I would not recommend her or take her for another class.

This is a very easy class if you listen and do the work. She is very strict but tells you every detail you need to pass, but does not hand out A's. Most days she will say one thing, returns a paper and lets you leave. Most work is down outside class and the first part of the semester is learning to pass the MLA exam (which was a joke).

I took MRS. Russell for 1102 and 1101 english. She is very strict. This is not a easy A. Just as long as you do your work and listen. There is no way you should Fail this class. Alot of students don't like her. Mrs. Russell is ok with me. She is a good teacher. She will give you everything you need to pass. She doesnt mind answering any questions

Mrs Russell is definitely NOT an easy going teacher she is rude and talks down to her students as if they are in pre-K. Requires you to do everything on Sakai, won't even tell you what you missed in class if you were absent. Will not take her again.

She is a great reality check that you're in college. Demands respect and academic pride. Best English teacher ever due to the amount of knowledge that you come out with. No grade is an easy grade in her class, but that makes every A feel amazing.

English 1 was a breeze with Russell. Very simple assignments that are easy to keep up with and hardly any stress.

Professor Russell is not the easiest teacher to take. If you don't try she won't put up with you. She gives second chances as long as you don't push your luck. I am grateful I took her. She is great at what she does and I learned a sense of responsibility from her. If she didn't stay on my case I wouldn't have taken the class as seriously as I did.

Mrs. Russell starts every class with a reminder of how sarcastic she really is. I personally find it quite hilarious. But, I would rather not get picked on for using the word LIKE in a sentence. She's a great teacher, you can complain all you want; but in the end you know you're graded for what you deserve. No extra credit, just do your work!!!

I didn't like her. She isn't very nice either. She was pretty mean, no side conversations, cellphones, nothing. She wanted you to pay attention and be silent and take notes.

She's a very tough grader and sarcastic person. If you speak to her, most likely she will talk down to you and treat you lowly. I don't find her very respectful to me, even though I give her the upmost respect. Although, if you can deal with that, assignments and tests are not bad and she is clear with due dates. But I wouldn't take her again!

Dr. Russell was a great teacher. Her grading criteria was very clear and she always reminded you of upcoming due dates. She had multiple pop quizzes but as long as you pay attention in class you should be fine. She allows you to pick what you want your research paper to be on, which was nice. Overall I loved her- she is sarcastic but she's not rude

Very sassy, but also a great teacher. She goes straight to the point in her lectures and tells you exactly what she wants. She is very accessible outside of class and knows what she is talking about. She is a tough grader but if you're really trying you will get a good grade. She does not want her students to fail and provides help if you need it.

The textbooks were required but I found them extremely helpful in writing my essays. 2 Essays, 2 in class essays and 1 research paper, with tons of other in class assignments (that you cannot make up). She gave 2 extra credits, one of them she gave me 10 points. Pretty laid back class for me, do everything on time and you'll be good.

This professor is tough but if you pay attention to her lectures you will learn how to do a proper college research paper. Forget what you may have been taught in high school and move up to college expectations. I am happy I took this class with this professor.

Russell is honestly the best professor I have had. She greets us all with a good morning and truly cares about the success of her students. If you skip youll miss easy grades so make sure you come. Be a good student and there shouldnt be any problems. Bottom line: take her class.

So, Professor Russell is someone who seems intimidating at first, but has a really huge heart. You need to show up to every class and do the proper readings. I feel like I really learned a lot from this course, and despite it not being easy, it really helped to improve my writing overall. I took two classes with her, both great experiences.

Pretty easy class and she is not a bad teacher. Based on the reviews I thought I would hate her class but I didn't. Yes she can be sarcastic sometimes but it isn't that bad. I think she genuinely cares about her students and wants you to learn. 10 discussion posts, a lab grade, some in class work and a few essays. Good class and I'd recommend it :)

I took Professor Russell for ENC1101 and ENC1102, she is not the nicest professor but she was an amazing teacher. Without her I would not be as skilled in English as I am today. She really puts you on the path to success. She gives tough love but will lead you to success!! I am very appreciative for everything she taught me as I still use it today!

Russell is pretty heavy on essays and is more no-nonsense, but I still think she's a good teacher and explained things well. During the first few weeks of the class I felt like she wasn't very clear about what assignments we were supposed to be working on. Y'all giving her too much crap in these other reviews like dang.
