I do not know what these other students are talking about but i found myself having the easiest time. It's true it's sometimes hard to understand her because of her accent but she explains things in speech and on the board very well. Quizzes, Tests, and Excel reports are easy! I opened the door.

I thought she was very helpful and went at the classes pace, not trying to simply finish all chapters.

She is one of the second best instructor's I've had at SF STATE. She taught the lectures very clear and understandable. Overall, she was a very helpful teacher. I recommend her to any student taking a statistics course or any other math course with her. You'll thank the hard work you'll put into her class.

I found this class to be EASY! So much easier than any class I took in high school. If you are any good at math, you will get an A in this class. She explains things clearly and puts the easiest questions on the tests. If you do the homework assts she gets the test questions right out of them. Good teacher.

this class was sooo easy. yea, sometimes her accent can make it hard for you to understand but if you just look down on the book its right there. her test questions are pulled out from the homework and its true that she goes at the class's rate. if you need to fulfill that math part of your g.e. most def sign up for her class. shes a breeze

If you go to class and put in the effort you will do fine in her class. She answers any homework questions and goes at a reasonable pase. There is a language barrier but its not terrible. These neg. comments are ridiculous it wasn't terrible

I like the way she teaches. She gives a lot of homework, but it is all for one own benifit. Her examples are much easier than the homework, but she ask the following day if there were any problems and she goes over it. (Note: do your homework and be prepared for a pop quiz every week)

she's a great teacher. i've failed this class once before, and now i'm understanding it and even got a B on the midterm. go to class though!! the book is impossible to understand, but she makes it all clear.

tran is a good teacher...she makes sense out of the book b/c it makes no sense. she expects work, and doesn't just give good grades. just study the material (she wants you to memorize the formulas!), and go to class otherwise you won't understand anything!

i loved this class. GO TO CLASS THOUGH! she expects you to do the homework and study hard but that is standard. she's really good with office hours and answering and questions- - she'll do some of the homework problems for you! the exams are hard only if you don't study, if you do the hw and study the quizzes theres no way you can fail.

She is really nice about giving you credit on tests for trying the problems even if you don't get the correct answer. She's not great at explaining things in class but she's pretty available for office hours. I would take another class from her.

the best thing about tran is that she gives study guides before the tests that are THE SAME questions as the test. the quizzes are hard, but only because they are pop. she has a pretty thick accent that can be boring or entertaining, depending on the day. you can get a good grade in her class, but she not just going to hand it to you.

If you go to her lectures and do the homework you'll be fine. She does prefer you go to her office hours for questions but she is always super helpful.

Pretty hard class if you don't like math. Attendance is extremely necessary b/c a lot is taught in each class. She is pretty fast paced and expects you to review a lot @ home.

i thought she was a great teacher. i understood all the concepts and her accent really isnt that bad. she offered help on projects and would check if they were correct before they were due. homework due once a week, which is the only bad thing. sometimes she gave extra credit if a lot of people left class early!

I would very much recommend this professor!! She is very helpful and really wants her students to learn the material. Lectures are very informative and help you a lot when studying for tests. The material is never thrown at you, everything is explained. This is a great class to take!

This teacher is surprisingly VERY clear even with a very thick Vietnamese accent. She teaches the class and paces the material perfectly so that it's easy to keep up throughout the semester. Take lots of notes so that you'll understand the material and you'll do fine on the tests and the homework.

well I actually like this teacher. She will tell you exactly what kind of questions we will have in our tests. She was always helpful whenever I went to her office hours. The hardest and worst math course I've ever taken so far. If you are not good at math, DONT TAKE HER! She just gives you a simple guideline of the material that the test will cover and it doesnt help you pass the exam at all. HW questions were hard as well. Do not buy the text book, she never refers to it. She's very clear on what will exactly be on the exams, literally "#1 is on.." Very organized notes and examples. The hw online is difficult because of the wording mostly so students do complain but she says it is a requirement for stats classes to use that site and she does go over hw q's in class.

She was very clear ans consistant, I found it easy to succeed in her class. You have 3 chances for hw so its easy to get good grades and you can use note cards on quizes and test, which is nice. Plus she is willing to help

The professor gives excellent notes, a bit of an accent but not hard to understand at all. As long as you study the notes at least once or twice over you'll be fine. Don't buy the book, you don't need it, only the statsportal key. The hw is fairly easy, though kind of a lot, the online tests arent hard. She lets you use index cards for tests.

I love her! She is the nicest math professor I ever had. When i came into the class I got intimidated by the calculus verb. She makes you feel hella confident about yourself and your work--but you need to do the work. Attend the classes all the time and you will def. get a good grade.

This class was really easy and this is coming from a person who dislikes math a lot. There are 2 midterms and one final, online homework each week, with three attempts to get the score you please. Tran is very organized and very nice. She writes all her notes on binder paper so if you miss a class you can go by her office and check out the notes for the day you missed class. You really need to put an effort of going to class if you really want to pass her class. Her class isnt very hard.

Going into this class, I thought it was gonna be hard but Tran made it wonderful for me and I passed with a B (Never got a B in math). Homework doesn't count that much towards your grade. On a side note, she has an accent but it's not hard to decipher. And she tries really hard to enunciate so her lovely students can understand. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Favorite professor this semester! Her notes are very organized and I think she explains the concepts very well. She gives great summaries of what you should study on upcoming tests, and you get to take an index card with formulas/examples into those tests.

Don't miss class, take notes, get the weekly online h.w and quizzes done, study for the 3 tests and you'll easily pass. Her teaching method is organized, she's an excellent teacher.

Come to class at least once a week to figure out if you need help understanding any new material. You will inevitably teach yourself the material when you do the homework; so do the homework. Just as long as you make it seem you know what you're doing in class, she won't bother you when she does make her rounds. Grades pretty forgivingly

Super easy class, she clarified everything so much that sometimes the pacing of the class felt a bit slow. She also tells you what kind of problems are on the test, so there are no surprises. She doesn't take attendance and I did end up missing some lectures, but I ended up okay and with an A.

Van Tran is honestly one of the best Math teachers I have ever had, she does have an accent but you get passed it quick. She always trying to help her students, offers them to a lot of extra support. This year she made her test Multiple Choice, which are pretty tough. Her notes are really clear, and test problems are exactly how you see it in your notes. Go to her office hours, and the tutoring services that she writes on the board if you are struggling.

Would honestly recommend her to anyone who is already pretty good at math. I did have to work to understand her because of her accent but she is a really good teacher. She almost dumbs down the topics just to make it so easy to do. Really good teacher and willing to help if you don't understand it! 4 tests and drops the lowest score.

She'll have a word document online telling you how many questions are on test and the equations that you'll have to use. Very good at teaching, I took math in high school and statistics specifically as well and have never had it explained so well. Has an accent but is easy to understand. Very nice, but won't explain very well if you have a specific question. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to pass you should really go to class.

ISED 160 was a pretty easy class. Tests were pretty relevant to the notes and going to class is essential to passing since she takes attendance every day and it counts towards your grade. She does have a strong accent but you get used to it and since it's math it doesn't really matter.

If you had taken the class in HS, its review. If this is is your first time taking this class, its pretty easy and straight forward. And you only use textbooks when you really need help on the homework. Don't need to buy the textbook and use online textbook about $25

Took her for Stats Spring 2012. I thought she was a great professor who provided clear and concise notes. Her online HW's weren't too bad at all as long as you attend class and take notes. I missed a day, and she was happy to provide me notes from her notebook. Downside - Exams were a bit difficult to get by, but I knew I could have done better.

The class consisted of 20% online homework, 50% midterm exams (25% each), and a 30% final exam. Every class is either finishing up the previous class lecture notes or starting a new chapter. I never bought the textbook because the lectures and homework was enough to study and practice with. Go to class and you'll be fine!

All her lectures provide all the information you need for the tests, and if not you can ask her at office hours. She can be really sweet and funny, but sometimes her replies to student questions can be sarcastic or rude. Extra practice of material is ESSENTIAL to pass her class and understand concepts.

Professor Tran was pretty good. She never canceled a class, and every class was just basically taking notes. She was always open to going over homework questions, since it was online. No study guide for tests, but she provides a cover sheet telling us what is going to be on the test and formulas that we are given. She goes over how to do each one.

There is a decent amount of homework in this class but its manageable. The homework and lectures really prepare you for the exam so show up and do the assignments and you should be fine. Look over the study guide before the exam and talk to her if you have any questions (really helpful during her office hours and explained difficult concepts well)

She takes notes on paper in class and does not post online however is easily accessible through office hours and after class is over. She is very thorough and makes understanding stats easy. She goes over concepts multiple times to ensure you understand and makes her tests easy with no tricks.

In this class it is very important to actually be in class and pay attention and take good notes! I have not been the best at math but she explained everything in a way that made it easy for me to understand. dont get why she has low ratings. lectures are great, uses many examples, hands out tons of extra credit, bumps hw grade 10%, drops lowest exam our of 4 (1 page exams), a lil heavy on hw but very lenient on due dates. if you do not understand a question she will work through it with you. if you dont try, your grades will surely reflect it.

Professor Tran is great! Her examples are very comprehensible and a few examples can tackle so many parts of the topic. She gives exams and a cumulative final. But she drops the lowest exam and gives so many extra credit opportunities since she understands how some students struggle in Math. She has a heavy accent but is still very understandable!

I liked Ms. Tran, I understood the curriculum and did pretty okay for the most part. There is a lot of homework, so make sure you take a lot of notes during her class! She gives extra credit options before exams too, she makes things easy but you have to do your part in it. You don't have to stress about memorizing formulas, just know how to apply.

As someone who hates math, I'm glad I was able to take Ms. Tran. She is very clear in her lectures on what we have to do for the homework and gives clear examples. Whatever you do, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I am personally very bad at math and I have always hated it. I'm currently in my third year college in the last math class I took was my junior year of high school so math wasn't too fresh in my brain. Since we're in a pandemic, we had classes through Zoom every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 50 minutes.

This professor was super nice. We had quizzes during every class but as long as you read the notes she posts and do the homework, you'll be fine. Not much homework because the deadlines are far apart for each chapter. She responds to emails quick and always willing to help if you have any questions.

Prof. Van was a great math professor for my first year of college math. I didn't do well in high school and started falling behind this semester of her class, but reached out and she was very understanding and able to help me out. She cares a lot about her students and wants people to show up to ask questions.

We had a 5 question quiz at the end of every zoom call, we met MWF for 50 minutes. She was very easy going and understanding of life situations that can affect school. Class was homework heavy and we had a few tests during the semester. If you need statistics take her class for sure.

I enjoyed having this professor for my MATH 199 class. Shes one of those professor who truly wants you to succeed and will help you if you need. Theres a lot of homework but if you know the material it should be easy, theres also videos that can help you. She records zoom lectures and posts them and its nice bc sometimes she talks fast.

She is very sweet and understanding. I struggled with math so I was nervous taking this class but the way she teaches really helped me understand the material. She uses My Open Math for homework, quizzes, and exams which was really easy to use. You can make up work through homework passes. I definitely recommend this class.

Im very bad at math, but this teacher is amazing and I did great in this class! There are only three tests and one final, you do have weekly quizzes and homework but it is super easy if you pay attention to the lectures! Quizzes are like four questions, she also gives you 12 late passes for homework which is great. Would definitely recommend.

This class was the best math class I've taken. Professor assigns daily class work, 1-2 homework assignments per week, and a quiz on Thursdays that's then due on Fridays. Assignments were all online on a website and fairly easy and short. Attendance isn't mandatory as she records every lecture. 3 exams total for this class.

GO TO CLASS. If you care about getting an A or passing - you must go to class. The material is so much easier when you learn it in a lecture versus teaching/reading about it on your own. When you do go to class, it is very difficult not to do well or at least get the grade you want. HW is long but doable just give yourself a few days to do it.

She was awesome I recommend that you show up every day for class. You have a classwork problem very often. She let us use one page of notes for each exam. I also recommend you skim through the textbook and her notes so you understand a concept better. It was the easiest math class I have ever taken.

The best math professor I've ever had. She goes over all of the questions for the classwork assignments with us and shows us how to do them. These same questions are on the homework/quizzes/exams just with different numbers. There is classwork and homework every day and a quiz or two every week, but this is a summer class so it's more rigorous.

Easiest math class I ever took, she actually knows how to teach and is very attentive to her students, she goes over the problems that her students don't understand, even though this class was in the summer and everything was going so fast she made sure all her students don't get left behind with all the work she assigned.

Her homework and exams are on myopenmath. If you have any questions, she'll go over them until you understand the material. She is patient and wants students to learn. She has daily participation questions on myopenmath for attendance points. There is quite a bit of homework, but it is manageable and they aren't too hard.

Professor Tran is amazing. She is great at explaining things and get straight to the point. If you are bad at math, she will help you. There are quizzes and online homework. They are very easy. Just follow the lectures and you will be fine. She lowkey holds your hand through out the semester. Will take again.

I took Professor Tran over the summer of 2023. She has weekly HW and class work. 3 midterms+1 final were similar to the practice questions. Be sure to keep up on the work and attend class and you'll be fine

Class was very doable just put in effort. Don't need to read the textbook she gives unless you want to or miss class. Grades on classwork every class. Tests not hard and are all questions she gives on the classwork. She can be a little scary to talk to with questions because you are expected to study material yourself. Also very flexible just ask.

There are lots of notes to take and a handful of assignments. However, even then she is a great professor. She provides support for her students and allows cheat sheets on all tests.

Super well structured. Easy to follow. She is a very fair grader, let's us have a page of notes for exams. Not too much homework. Loved her.

This has to be the worst class and professor I have taken

She's excellent. This class was super easy for me. She gives extra credit for early submissions so I did all the homework in the first week and just attended to do the in-class quizzes.
