Attendance is not mandadory but he does such a good job explaing everything you would be silly to miss and teach yourself. 4 tests, Quizes he tells you when, 3-4 group projects(not hard). He is a goofy guy, very helpful, and a great prof. If you have to take FIN might as well be someone entertaining and good. You do have to study for an A.

This guy is awesome, he takes finance and puts it to a level that anyone and everyone can understand. He is hilarious and classes with him were awesome. Attendance isn't mandatory but he really does a great job explaining everything that you'd only hurt yourself by not going. I would take classes from him again!

Will Test you hard, but if you truly want to learn the material you would be hard pressed to find a better teacher

Awesome prof. Very nice guy. Recognizes that Finance isn't the most interesting/easy topic to most & does his best to make it at least bearable. Allows you to use a note card on each exam. Quizzes for attendance but he'll warn you ahead of time. 4 group projects. You'd be hard pressed to find a better Finance professor. Def take him.

Great prof! Only lectures over what will be on tests and always gives a review and relevant h.w. questions/quizzes with solution sheets to review. Availible during office hours for questions. Very positive, patient, and interactive.

So far he is the best prof I have had at TX State. Goofy guy, pokes fun at the material a lot. If you want a good grade you need to go to class. He does not do power points. It's all whiteboard scribbles and lecture. Take notes! For fun drop by his office and BS with him about something non finance related. BTW he is a Sooner . . .

By far the best professor Ive had at Texas State. Very helpful and a pretty cool guy. His tests arent difficult if you go to class and get the material.

Best prof ever! He is fun and funny! he actually teaches he doesn't just stand in front of the class and lecture. He involves students and because his class is fun you want to be involved!

Nice guy. Also funny when he makes little comments about the material. Subject isnt easy but he explains it pretty well. No powerpoints, so you need to go to class in order to get notes. There is some online HW but its basically a completion grade. Tests arent wasy but arent super hard either. If you study the quizzes he gives then youll be fine.

he was probably one of the best teachers i have ever had! his lectures were always interesting and even though the material is a little difficult he made is easy to understand. you do have to come to class in order to get the notes and he gives lot of in-class quizzes. you also get a not card on the test.

I hate math, accounting, stats, etc. he made class as enjoyable as a fin class could be for me! great professor! explained the subject matter very well! has easy hw, 10 quizzes, 3 test, and a final. if you are not a fin. major and or hate this stuff take this professor! if you cant get in his class, wait until next sem to get him! worth it!

He's a really good teacher and very helpful. Funny, relaxed. He does a lot of quizzes but he always tells you about them the class before and only takes the top 5 grades. His tests are not easy but he curves them. Group projects also help your grade

By far my favorite prof. Keeps class moving and interesting, gives you all you need to succeed, as long as you go to class and do the work you should be fine. He's always open to answering questions, even if not about his class. I hope to take another class w/ him!

AWESOME! He's kinda qwerky and makes up weird stories, but somehow it helps you remember things. He's crazy smart but simplifies lessons so it's easy to understand if you don't know much about the business world. Highly recommend!

The TI BAII+ calculator will make this class a breeze. Attend class to learn how to work the problems and you'll be scoring A's on the exams. He's very helpful and willing to go the extra step if you need more instruction. I didn't open the textbook once - don't buy it.

He's one of the best proffesor I've ever had. He explains materials well, give good example. Work on the HW, study what he wrote on the board, you'll get an A.

Favorite professor at Texas State. He made the class fun and interesting. Class is fairly easy if you show up to class. You get to use a 3x5 notecard for tests so that makes it pretty easy.

Pretty cool guy. 4 exams(including final), 3 simple projects spread across the semester, 10 quizzes (he will aware you before each one), & connect assignments. He's really helpful, explains well, and understands that finance is not the easiest for everyone. Study quizzes and notes for exams. He's thorough so you could probably do without the book!

Fantastic professor who really sparks an interest in the world of finance. Explains things in a straightforward way and is very easy follow. Would recommend!

He's pretty funny and friendly, and explained the material well. Get a financial calculator! Does quizzes (top 5), 3 test total w/ notecard (for summer), 3 easy projects, and completion online HW. I enjoyed his class and learning about finance (ACC mjr). Explains stuff straightforward & thoroughly; I didn't use the book. Definitely recommend him!

Nice guy. Genuinely wants you to pass, but doesnt waste your time. Lectures are clear. Tests are short so know you're stuff, because each question is worth a lot of points. but he lets you use a formula sheet which is very helpful. a couple ' group projects' that are so easy and actually helpful.

His voice sounds a lot like Jerry Seinfeld! He really goes through all the steps of the problems, posts practice problems and solutions online, and gives easy participation homework . Semester long group project but not difficult. Tests are just like practice problems and quizzes. I highly recommend him!

Lesseig is the man. I took this class in the summer so you really can't miss class or you will miss a lot of info but he helps a lot. He knows it's summer so lets you out early everyday. He is laid back and jokes around a lot. He will help you in anyway he can. Just go to class and listen and you'll make an easy B.

I loved him! I hear all the other finance professors are tough and give a lot of work. For his class you have 3 group "projects". And I put projects in quotations because each project took less than 30 minutes to complete. You also have 3 tests and a cumulative final. For each test you get to use a 3x5 notecard and for the final a 4x6. Easy A

Vance Lesseig is honestly the best professor I've ever had. I was told he is teaching bigger classes next semester which makes me happy for students, and him as well. He took time to get to know me, and adjust to the way I learn. He is funny as hell. Taking a class with/knowing Lesseig is a blessing to anyone.

I cant say enough good things about this professor. If you pay attention in class youll never have to open up the book, everything that he goes over in lecture is on the tests and quizzes. Also, the energy he brings to class always makes it fun and engaging.

Awesome professor!! I took him in summer and finance is a hard course but he teaches it very well and brings a lot of energy and humor to the class. Lesseig is probably one of the best and funniest professors I've had so far. He explains things very well, and makes class enjoyable. His online quizzes are easy, and the tests aren't bad at all if you understand the classwork. Overall great teacher. Take him.

This class was surprisingly enjoyable. The class is broken down into connect homework, online quizzes, and 5 tests excluding the final. Its helpful that there are so may tests because each one only covers one or two topics, he takes the top 5 out of 10 quizzes. You get multiple tries on the hw so its an easy A if you do it. Super helpful prof.

This ended up being my easiest class! All you have to do is show up & listen. He gives homework & quizzes, which are not hard. You get a note card on every exam which I have only needed like twice, he gives 5 exams + final comprehensive but the exams cover one subject each instead of a load of info on one test. do the work&its an easy A!!!

Finance is a tough class. That being said, this guy does EVERYTHING he can to help you understand the material and get a decent grade. I wish more professors were like him.

This class is not simple, but Lesseig made it understandable while also keeping the level of work challenging so you actually absorb knowledge along the way. Do the online quizzes and save them for extra practice for tests. Ask him if you have any questions, as he is welcoming to students and does not make you feel ignorant in the process.

Dr. Lesseig is awesome and was easily my fav prof this semester. He explains everything in depth and the class is an easy A if you take advantage of the resources he provides. There is connect HW, a weekly quiz, 5 exams and a final. He lets you use a note card on each exam and the exams are just like the quizzes.

One of the best professors at Texas State. He made Finance easy, and fun. Very easy, Attendance isn't mandatory, all resources is on tracs. Each test you're able to have a note card with you, which made the test very easy. if you're able to do the homework and quizzes without any problems, you'll pass his exams. Easy A for sure

If you do the homework, you'll be ready for the quizzes. And if you do well on the quizzes, you'll do just fine on the exam. Especially since he lets you use a note-card for each exam (you get a bigger note-card for the comprehensive final).He is very funny and teaches the material effectively.

Lessing is a great professor, approachable, helpful and makes finance relatively interesting. The tests were hard for me, you really need to understand the material, which shouldn't be a problm for most. Go to class, listen, go to office hours*, ask for help if needed*, do a bunch of practice problems and you should be fine.

Finance is tough but he does an excellent job of breaking it down into easy bits. Often let class out early. Goes around the classroom teaching people how to use their financial calculators. I had to miss class for a full week and he went above and beyond to accommodate me & kept me caught up. Search his name on YouTube, he posts video lectures.

He is amazing. I went to class like 3 times and simply watched the video lectures he posted before exams and online quizzes. He is very funny and if my class wasn't so early I'd probably go to more lectures. He made me want to switch my major to finance. He explains the concepts so well and you'll always know what to expect on exams/quizzes/HW.

GREAT PROFESSOR, PLEASE TAKE HIM, i struggled at first, i got a 64 on the first test and worked my way up to a 100 on the last test. He cares about his students and wants you to do well, pay attention and go to class even though its not mandatory!

If your good at finance and math you should be fine. I hated this class because it was extremely hard for me. But he's a super nice sweet dude. Will always help. Teachers pretty scattered and fast.

He really knows what he is doing. He cares about students and wants you to pass. Grading is clear, and you should easily be able to make an A or B, you get a note card on every exam which is extreamly helpful. Will respond to any question without judgement. Pretty funny. Makes information easy to understand. Would take again if I could.

Difficult to make an A (but not impossible by an means). Easy B. Probably the fairest class Ive ever been a part of. The tests are exactly like the practice problems. Basically As and Bs are separated by how you do in the concept questions. But if you study the slides youll do good!

LOVE! Teaches it like a hybrid course. You can watch videos online or go to class. Unlim attempts to do the HW, takes the top 7 and the top 5/10 quizzes. Can use a note card on the exams. Exam material is identical to the quizzes & practice problems he gives, do those!! Doesn't curve, would've made an A if I didn't have to take test 1 early.

IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT FINANCE THIS IS WHO YOU WILL WANT TO TAKE!!!!!! I have gotten a D in all math related courses but Lessieg was so helpful and such a good professor I easily made a B... no extra credit, unlimited attempts at homework, 10 quizzes he takes top 5 and they are all online as well as all his lectures, examples, notes, videos!

Would absolutely take him again. He has videos on tracs going over every lecture. Didn't go to the lectures much but he is very funny although his voice cracks sometimes.

Very test heavy. HW is easy. Lots of quizzes. you get a Notecard for exams. He is really easy to talk to if youre having a difficult time. I do not recommend taking this course online. If you can attend the classes it is much more beneficial, I did 1st half the course online and did poorly, I started attending lecture and my grade went up alot.

Hybrid course, but I would go to class instead of watching the videos. His quizzes can be tricky if you aren't following the notes but exams are pretty straightforward. I took this as a hybrid class - personally only showed up for exams. Watch all of the lectures, do the hw and quizzes. Quizzes are very similar to test questions, but the word questions can be confusing. He is a quirky guy, but tries to be realistic about finance since all majors have to take it. Solid professor. Easy B, work a little harder for A.

I got onto my laptop early in the morning just to rate this professor. He is just amazing so does his lectures. You won't regret!!

Professor Lesseig was AMAZING. I took his hybrid course and class was concise and informative. He gives a few extra credit opportunities. He was funny and chill. Attendance isn't mandatory and you don't have to read, but you have Connect homework.

Prof. Lesseig is quite possibly the best professor I've taken at Texas State. This is my fifth year so that says a lot. He gives great lectures with very good examples and runs through every single one in detail. He also has some very helpful YouTube videos. I took the hybrid course and I strongly advise to take that as well! He's also hilarious!

I wouldn't have wanted to take this class with anyone else! You have to put in the work to get a good grade because the class is pretty difficult but he gives a ton of resources to do well. If you take FIN3312 hybrid, I highly advise that you attend class. He uploads video lectures but they are much easier to understand in class.

Not much hmwk assigned, but he does put up worksheets. You work at your own pace, hmwk must be finished before exams. He gives out a few points EC if you do reviews, you have a connect assignment due each week, and a quiz every sunday except on exam weeks. Very clear teaching, I took a hybrid class and learned online through videos.

He has said himself he will try to trick you with the answers. SO MANY TESTS. It is a very difficult class. I am a straight A student and also struggled,as another reviewer stated. I put in so much work into this class probably more than my other classes this semester combined. Not kidding. He is a very nice professor though. Go to class!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to pay attention or else you won't understand the material! On each exam he lets you have a notecard. The material is difficult, but he is a great professor and he will answer any questions that you have. He tries to make everything as understandable as possible. He's funny and nice. I got an A, but I had to study a good amount.

Loved him and this class. He gives students the opportunity to just watch videos instead of going to class, drops numerous assignments, and lets students use notecards on the exam. Only thing I didn't like about the class is that there are 5 exams, and a final. Super test heavy. However, you 100% should take him if you have the chance.

I only went to class on test review and test days and just watched his lecture videos! You get a notecard on all the tests. This class is extremely easy if you have a good notecard for the tests (5 tests and final) and the TA provides theirs as well for reference. The tests and final are 83% of our grade so have a good notecard. Easy easy A!

The final is worth a little over 30% of your grade and is 75 questions in 2 1/2 hours. Beware of the HW's he doesn't tell you when they are due so be sure to check McGraw hill. He takes the highest 7 hws and highest 5 quizzes. Lecture was either online (zoom), in person, or recorded so which ever worked best. Tests were in person except the last 2

One of the best professors here at TXST! go to his in-person class(it's a hybrid class) he goes into detail way more and gives information about what will be on the exams that are not in the videos. He will always answer any questions and is just so nice. lets you have a notecard for every test with whatever you want on it like formals or examples.

Professor Lesseig is an awesome professor that I would recommend to anyone. He is caring, helpful, and overall very informational. Any finance major should take his course. You can watch his videos for flexibility, but he gives extra help and helpful specific insights in in-person lectures.

Great class! Professor Lesseig is a great instructor and takes his time during lecture to answer questions and work practice problems to make sure you understand the material. He's very knowledgeable and helpful, and if you pay attention and do the homework & quizzes you'll be fine. I recommend doing the practice & review problems before the exams!

He is by far the best professor I've had at Texas State. This class is so easy with him. You get a notecard on every test PLUS easy extra credit for 2 points for every test. It is very test heavy (6) but they are all easy if you just do everything required. My class was hybrid and honestly it's not necessary to show up but I like to learn in person

He stays after every class to answer a line of student's questions in detail, has a classroom environment that enrages students to discuss topics and ask questions, and has very clear exam reviews that relate to the exam. The large workload ensures a passing grade in the course, and you can watch lecture videos at home or choose to attend class.

You could either show up for face to face classes or watch the video lectures and only show up for tests. His videos are "unique", but eventually you can understand it pretty well. Not much homework, lots of practice problems to prepare you for the tests. Good teacher all around.

The best! 5 exams but easier for studying & in case you fail one you can make it up.10 pts extra credit. Can take a notecard if you still don't understand something on the exams & final. Completed 7 out of 10 HW get graded. Top 5 quizzes out of 10 get graded.. Do the practice problems similar to exams. I wish all my professors were like this!

Absolutely incredible professor that is really good at teaching a difficult math intensive class. Lets you use a notecard for formulas on each test which is a life saver!

If you have the option to take this professor do it! The course is made up to where you can succeed even by failing one test with extra credit available and him taking highest grades for homework and quizzes. Truly need more professors like him, super underrated

Professor Lesseig is probably my favorite professor at TXST. He is extremely caring and respectful to his students. His lectures are very informative, and he has good humor and a great personality, which helps keep students engaged. You definitely will not regret taking this professor.

Hybrid class so I only attended a few classes. He has been my favorite professor at TXST so far and I would 100% take him if you are a finance major and need a B for this class. He is extremely helpful when it comes to office hours and the hybrid videos are somewhat helpful. Do the homework and you'll be fine.

Was technically a hybrid class, but he gave a lecture for all of the classes. Lots of practice work in Smartbook, but the lectures were very helpful and he went through how to handle a lot of the problems in class, so we had a good grasp on the subjects as we went through. Takes the time to show how to use various calculators. Great professor.

He posts a lot of study material online for you to look over which is super helpful for the tests. If you watch the videos, do the homework and quizzes, and work through the practice problems, you will do fine

One of the best teachers I've had in recent years. Makes everything incredibly easy to understand, and even with more difficult topics, there is so much practice material and extra credit that if you fail the course, then it's on you. Finance calculator required. Quizzes and 2 homework assignments weekly(easy). Quizzes accurately reflect tests.

Vance Lesseig is a great professor! He is very knowledgeable and up to date on all things finance. This class requires A LOT of studying and material to cover. It is not an easy A, or even B, but if you are going to class, accessing tutoring, and watching his videos, it is possible! It's just a hard class, like Accounting, but he makes it better.

Prof. Lesseig does an amazing job at making a difficult course manageable for everyone! Lectures are VERY helpful in understanding the material, however he also posts them online so attendance is optional. 5 tests and a final, but there is so much homework (easy) that it reinforces material so tests aren't bad. Lets you use a flash card for tests.

He was a really good teacher. The class work is kinda hard and the tests are too but he does a good job in preparing students for tests. Recommend going to class but he also posts everything online.

I would take this professor again because he's a funny guy and that's refreshing. About class, one quiz and homework every week. He drops a lot of homework and quizzes. took as hybrid, canvas modules are well laid out and helped me learn material which can seem complicated at first but if you put time into the class you will do fine. lesseig is funny and very knowledgeable about finance, def recommend him if you are finance major. 5 tests & a final but you get a 3x5 index card for each. he wants you to pass

This is a hard class. However, his teaching style, recorded lectures, & dropping your lowest quizzes were very helpful. Get 1 notecard during the exams & a 4x6 for final. I didn't attend class, just watched lectures & took detailed notes. You have to practice using his practice problems. Downsides: cumulative final & McGraw HW isn't like exams.

Prof. Lesseig is a good professor but this class was difficult for me. There is a lot of homework, reading and lectures. He lets you use a notecard with formulas and notes for the exams. I struggled with the material but really liked him as a professor. I would take him again.

Very good lecturer, one of the better ones I've had at Texas State. Very engaging and answered questions well. Had a lot of material online to help if you need more practice or missed a class. Tests were somewhat difficult but he allowed for a notecard and extra credit which was helpful.

Great professor. Watch all the videos posted and make sure to complete all the reviews. We were given the opportunity to use note cards for tests. Make sure to put examples for the exams and KEEP THE NOTECARDS for the FINAL!! Overall an amazing teacher, very funny and he is there to help you.

prof Lesseig is amazing! I took this class asynchronously and got a 98%. This class is hard if you struggle with math but he has resources on canvas. Class averages for exams were low (50%-70%), so study. He gives you 1 notecard to write whatever you want for every exam. Keep in mind that if you are a finance major, you will need a B to pass.

Vance is a little too goofy at times, but he makes the material digestible and cares. I'd recommend him. 5 exams + final. You can use a notecard for each exam!! Do the practice problems and ppt problems, they help and are similar to exam problems. I'd recommend the HP finance calculator.

hard class; first unit is the hardest by far. His videos made it nice bc i never had to go to class, but i found more value in the practice problems. Hes great at answering questions and is overall so caring of his students. 5 tests and a final was a crazy amount but it made tests easier. Extra credit and 5 quiz drops help your grade significantly

Fantastic class! You can attend lectures or go fully online with exam-only attendance. I highly recommend attending the lectures; he's funny, engaging, and makes the class more enjoyable. Exam heavy, but staying on top of homework, practice problems, and quizzes should help you succeed. You get one 3x5 notecard per exam and one 4x6 for the final.

Very test heavy with 5 exams plus the final. Class isn't mandatory (besides exams) because the lectures are available on Canvas, but I recommend going to class. I scored higher on exams in which I attended every class for the unit. There's connect homework and quizzes too.

Had him last semester fall of 2023 in person/hybrid. Attendance was not mandatory - GO TO CLASS (I did & passed!) there is more benefits coming to class. GO TO OFFICE HOURS, he is willing to help with HW problems, quizzes and exams. Also allows you to take note card ALL EXAMS & the FINAL. TAKE HIM for FIN 3312, he is a GREAT!

Hybrid w/ lecture vids, notecard for tests, and he's a funny and wholesome person. This class was SO difficult but he tries his best to make it as easy as he can. Lots of tests, but it's nice because you can bomb a few and survive. I reccommend going to class because he will literally pass you if you show that you are actually trying. Great prof!

Good teacher overall. His slides are a bit messy and vague, leaving me mostly relying on his videos and practice problems for review. Practice problems are great review do them at least twice before tests and quizzes and you stand a pretty fair chance of getting an A on the test. Offers 10 points out of 380 for extra credit. Overall solid teacher

You need to study to do good in this class but he gives a lot of resources like current and old quizzes and a review before every exam. They're very similar to the review and his slides. Definitely recommend attending class because he gives tips that are not on the recorded lectures. He's a great professor and is always willing to help.

Challenging but rewarding class. Vance's lectures and videos are really helpful, and the practice problems are a great way to prep for the many exams. Unstuck AI also proved useful for studying. Overall, a solid professor who cares about student success.

TAKE HIM!! You definitely need to study to do well in this class! I recommend going through all the practice problems and quizzes twice before every test and you have a good shot at getting an A on every test! I didn't do well on the first test but every test after I was able to get an A on after reviewing all the material for each unit!!

Vance is the finance GOAT. Lectures are entertaining especially at 8am. Tests are pretty hard for a 50 minute class but just study his practice problems and you'll do great. He drops like 5 quizzes and 4 homework's so that's nice. Just make sure to study hard and you'll do great. Would definitely take again.

Lesseig was a great teacher. If you do his practice problems you are guaranteed to do well on the tests. He does like 10 points of extra credit total and it was just smartbook assignments for test review that were two points each for every test. I got a 45 on the first test and then all A's on the other 3 and a 100 on the final. Got an A.

Great professor! Study his practice problems/quizzes because it'll really help on the exams (don't rely on hw). I'd also suggest copying the problems on your notecard to help. 2 hw assignments and 1 extra credit smartbook for each unit. First 2 exams are the hardest, but after that everything else is fine. He is really nice and willing to help you!

Study and you will pass. First test is the most challenging but don't let that discourage you.

i love him, have made a good relationship with him bc hes a chill and nice person. first exam is rough, second exam is ok, third and fourth exam are guarenteed A's. do the practice problems and quizzes, i am not sure how people get A's if they don't show up!

He's super nice and funny, he also understands that not everyone is a finance major and tries to make it better. You have to put effort into this class, I thought I could just show up and do good... I was wrong lol.

Come to class, due all quizzes and practice problems until they become easy. You will not do well if you don't do your part since its a lot of math, mainly algebra and stats. He is a good prof but he moves quick, don't be afraid to ask him to slow down. First test is the hardest, final is cumulative, and FIN majors need a B or higher. I recommend!

I am a recent transfer from ACC, and I really enjoyed Vance's course, I took an 8-8:50 AM class and class was not mandatory at all but I showed up to 90% of them and learned a lot. Lots of exams but he gives plenty of practice for them.
