Best professor I've had at LBCC so far. I want to do Accounting but now I'm really considering studying history. Her tests are easy if you do her study guides, she has a couple big essay projects that take some time, but besides that it's a pretty chill class.
If you HATE history like me, PLEASE i advice you to TAKE THIS CLASS!! After taking Professor's Peralta class, I'm actually thinking about changing my major to history! She is so passionate about history & her lectures, it's story time every time you go to her class. You never want to skip class! She cares about her students and she's funny! :D
Makes an effort to be clear & concise. A little more attention to the text rather than "personal" input / stories. Easy grader. Doesn't make you work too hard. Since its a required class - at least it was palatable.
easy grader, decent amount of homework but easy, get the foner text online so it is easier to use for inquiztives, group work is kept to an acceptable minimum, make sure you are a good note taker, she's really into women's history (for better or worse..)
She is really sweet, funny and caring to her students. You have to complete 10 document projects for the whole sem and inquizitives. Easy exams if you study and a lot of extra credit.
She's such a great professor to be honest, she's funny and keeps you engaged even if you're not a history fan. You have homework due every week but its completely doable. Easy exams, just take some time to study. She tells you exactly whats expected in the syllabus so as long as you keep up with the work you'll pass. Offers a lot of extra credit.
Her lectures are pretty interesting for someone who doesn't like history, the homework is also very easy there's in total 3 exams and 2 essays plus a little bit of homework due each week which is fair and easy just turn homework in time and you'll be fine.
I forgot to say that you don't really need the book called "give me liberty " because she goes over every lecture through PowerPoint in class , so if you take good notes you'll be good for the exam
She's a very good teacher! You can tell she loves history but you have to take good notes from what she says since her PowerPoint notes only have the main ideas. Exams are fairly easy just study. She does give a lot of homework so don't procrastinate. The inquizzitive quizzes online take a lot of time so don't wait on the last minute to do them.
Textbook is online. Not too much homework. Two essays. The final consists of an exam (not cumulative) and a (cumulative) project (which you don't have to present). Overall, I think Professor CP is a good choice. Take her if she fits in your schedule.
She's a really cool teacher and has a positive vibe. She made class interesting. I'd def take her again.
Best professor ever! Clear on whats expected from you, the syllabus was a constant help for what was up next or due. The class was so interesting and lectures ties in all the readings to be more comprehensive. Dont skip class! Her lectures are filled with tons of info. Stay on top of your hw. Test come with a good study guide. Books needed.
Best professor Ive ever had! Her lectures are incredible, Homework is reasonable, tests are pretty easy. She really goes the extra mile to make what shes talking about interesting and accessible. She clearly knows a lot about history, and it shows. Shes very kind and warm, you can tell she legitimately cares about her students. Shes amazing.
VCP is friendly and gets to the point. She really wants her students to participate and have a dialogue about history. Tests are easy and are multiple choice/ 1 or 2 essay answers. She makes history interesting by lecturing us on the narratives of the people in US hist. Easy A, but you do have to show up every day and put in the effort! 1 essay.
Gives a lot of homework, and you to listen to the 5 broadcast to answer other assignment. She do a lot of group work. At end of the semester you have to read Battle lines and make a 5-6 pages essay + 50% of the exam is an essay or reproduce lectures of the semester in a creative way. Not worth it, and not much time for homeworks.
One of the best teachers I have ever taken. Her lectures are incredible and she is seriously so caring. And funny. She is incredible and I have learned SOOO much in her class. She has inspired me so much. If you're thinking twice about taking Women's History with her, DO IT!
I took her 8 week class and I absolutely ADORE her! She uses a FREE book so you can save $$! All of the work is pretty easy to do and can be finished right before or during class. There were two essays due at the end and homework due every class. The lectures are always interesting so class goes by quickly. 10/10 recommend
She is awesome, for a Saturday class 3hrs goes by fast. She teaches history in a way you can remember and understand . She knows her ish and her assignments are well connected with what she lectures about take good notes , do all the work and your good . she provides book online free
VSP is a good teacher and definitely knows her stuff. Taking good notes is a must! Can't stress that enough. She doesn't like her students using outside sources for information when writing essays or completing projects. I recommend to NOT miss class because she doesn't post in detail on Canvas what she covered in class. Email her!
VCP is one of the best history professors you can find. She's incredibly kind, understanding and she really cares about her students. She makes sure everyone understands the lecture. Some in class assignments, about one assignment each week and it's mostly turned in on Canvas. Highly recommend, you'll learn so much from her.
Professor Vanessa is amazing. I knew little to nothing about history, but she really helped me understand history. All my history High school teachers were useless ever since I realized I knew nothing about history. Professor Vanessa gives amazing lectures and makes sure you understand every lecture. If she fits your schedule, please taker her.
VCP is currently my hist25 teacher, and is also the greatest teacher I have ever had, and Ive had some amazing ones. Interesting and passionate lectures, and very interactive with the class. Never boring! Im definitely going to try to sign up for another one of her classes, even though history was never my favorite subject. Highly recommend!
Vanessa is the best professor I've taken at LBCC thus far!I took her for Hist 25 (History of the American Woman) and her lectures were always entertaining and she really goes into depth on things you might've never learned about in previous American history classes. I have recommended her to friends and they all took her classes and loved her too!
Professor Crispin-Peralta is amazing! I took her for Hist 10, 25, and both her classes were equally great! Her lectures are very informative and entertaining. She wants the class to participate, so participate! It'll make the class more fun. I always recommend her to friends and classmates that are looking for an interesting history class.
Do yourself a favor and take professor Crispin-Peralta! Best professor I have EVER had! She is so smart, interesting, and funny. She teaches history from an empathetic point of view with lot of open discussions, it's not just boring history about dates and events. The work was fun and the books assigned are great reads I couldn't put them down.
AMAZING!! Take good notes and be on top of all the assignments and youll get an A. There is a lot of homework but its pretty simple stuff. She really cares about her students and makes class interesting!! I definitely recommend her!
Vanessa can convert a boring subject into excitement. Her history lectures were interesting and she is friendly and willing to provide help during office hours. She does give homework but it's not a lot and very easy to complete. Show up to class because all her test questions come from the lecture.
Very nice woman. She cracks jokes 24/7 and everyone loves her for it. She cares genuinely about her students and gets to know them personally. Very welcoming and her sense of knowledge about every topic during her lecture is insane. She knows everything about the subject shes presenting and its incredibly inspiring and impressive.
Easy class, we took about 4 quizzes that were extremely easy if you actually show up to class and payed attention, we do a couple of social media papers which are really fun and Vanessa is super sweet and caring, would take her Class again !
Best HIST teacher ever. For notes you have to print out a note packet & fill in the blanks as she lectures, it can be much because she talks fast so you really rely on the people around you. She'll have you listen to podcasts or watch videos & answer questions on it, for hw. There are 2 essays to write. Lots of extra credit & lenient on late work.
Very sweet and nice woman. Her lectures are amazing but you definitely have to work hard.
VCP is such a good professor. She loves to get to know her students with fun table talks at the beginning of class. Her lectures as clear cut and the homework isn't to hard as long as you pay attention to the lecture. VCP also brings a new perspective to history as she teaches about people you don't usually learn about in general history.
VCP was awesome. Before COVID and during COVID, she was with us throughout the whole semester. You can tell that she deeply cares about the students and topics simply due to the effort she shows in the lectures and is open to help you. She is a great professor. You will learn a lot and she guides you to that goal.
The sweetest woman on the planet. Her teaching stems from a passionate place, her lectures are very informative and fun to listen to. There were few quizzes and HW, mostly responses about the lecture information. A fair amount of reading but the content is interesting for a history class. Shes an incredible professor you wont regret this class.
i had to switch professor crispins history class to online unfortunately due to the coronavirus, but she was very understanding and helpful throughout the entire semester, she made the class so interesting and engaging, i never liked history but she made it so relatable, i would definitely take one of her classes again
She is an absolutely amazing professor who takes the time to truly engage with her students. You don't have to participate but with the interesting topics that you cover, you may want to. Make sure to get the notes down, the study guide is true to what you really need to know. Easy exams & NO textbook!
Dr. Peralta is great, and inspirational. Takes the time to understand where you are coming from and guides you. Great sense of humor, and is passionate about teaching others what SCHOOL SHOULD have thought you long ago. She is responsive and I recommend.
She is an amazing Instructor. Not only does she present interesting presentations, she also cares for the success of her students.
This professor is AMAZING. This was my first time taking one of her classes and she said it was her first time teaching online (because of the pandemic) she handled al the work super well and graded fairly quickly. The material is super interesting and easy if youre actually invested into the history of women. 4 exams and all based on your notes.
Amazing Professor, she is the best!!!!! I would highly recommend taking her class. She makes you look at the history but from a different perspective. 10 out of 10!
great professor, she really wants students to learn. Her modules are very organized and she always makes herself available. This is a history class that requires a lot of reading. She provides study guides which will prepare you for exams so be sure to take a lot of notes, they are basically fill in the information. Easy to fall behind due load.
Dr. VCP is hands down the best professor I have had in my entire college career. She is engaged, organized, and truly cares. I fell behind due to some personal stuff, but I let her know about it. She gave me extra time to complete the workload and didn't deduct points b/c it was late. This class is a MUST- You will not regret taking her for Hist25!
Dr. VCP is amazing! Her online class was amazingly organized and her lectures are not boring at all. Her note packets are follow along by videos and her exams are not difficult if you pay attention to the lecture. She is incredibly knowledgable and you won't be confused in her class. Great prof to take HIST from. would recommend!
One of the best profs Ive ever had, her class is so interesting and she constantly strives for intersectionality which is amazing! The online course is super easy to follow and the lectures are always fun. The professor is so sweet and creates such a welcoming environment to learn. My best class this semester!!!
She's one of the best professors I've had, graded by few things but as long as you pay attention you'll be fine. Few assignments and quizzes, and one paper. I highly recommend her she's very understanding, kind, and gives great lectures I loved taking her!
Professor Crispin-Peralta is the best professor out there, she really shows that she cares for her students and will do whatever she can to make sure you will succeed. Her online class was so organized and easy to follow along. Interesting lectures plus she gives note packets with the outline of the lectures. Easy grader, easy A if you do the work
Shes very patient when it comes to missing assignments. She will help you if youre struggling with anything.
Professor Vanessa made history enjoyable and fun to learn. I learned so much about feminism and women's history during this class. Allows for extra time if you need it and very understanding.
Dr. Crispin was so caring and helpful. Absolutely loved her class as I learned so much from it!!
Professor Vanessa rules. Wish I could have her teach all my classes. Her material is very clear. She really engages with everyone in the class via her discussion posts and is a reliable communicator via email. Lectures are subtitled. The workload is moderate, nothing crazy. Some quizzes and assignments due every week but super fast and doable.
I just Finished Taking Dr. Vanessa's HIST 10. Let me just start by saying she doesn't care how long you take to complete assignments as long as you turn them in before finishing the semester really easy class, I would take her class again
She is one of the best LBCC has to offer. She is kind, intelligent, well-informed, and dedicated to the success of her students. She is passionate about Women's History and will explain anything you need her to. The work isn't hard, but the study notes get lengthy. The tests are straight from the lecture and the book is free. Win/Win with her.
She rules. Super helpful and understanding (I was going thru grief during her class and was able to turn in some things late). Her material is clear and easy to understand. Her lectures and note packet are very clear. Load is not too heavy just have to participate and watch all the videos provided and you're golden.
One of my favorite teachers I have ever had. It was an online summer class so we only had video lectures, but she still checked in with emails every week and was very assessable. Her lectures were interesting and well organized, she does an excellent job of making the class fun as well as educational. I actually watch her lectures for fun now.
Turned me into a history nerd! She is such an amazing story teller which I think is incredibly important for a history teacher/professor. I love that she approached this course from multiple perspectives (e.g. the perspective of women, Indigenous people, etc.). Course is well organized, engaging, and relevant to the demographic of her students.
she is very nice, polite, organized, always on time. she encourages students to be successful with their studies. she is a great professor .
If its your first semester in college this is one of the teachers you are going to want to have she is cooperative, understanding as well as understandable, she makes learning fun despite the fact that we are in a college setting, she keeps everything simple and trust me you will ace exams because the questions are plainly based without any traps.
The professor made it easy to follow along with her video lectures that are due at the end of the week. Tests are not hard(open note)& the actual work gets a little tedious at times but never difficult. Really sweet & gives great feedback.I truly recommend taking this class, it's important to learn.
Professor Peralta was a great professor. The class included small lecture videos, note packets, and discussion posts. She gives you a week grace period that allows you to turn your assignments in without any penalty. I recommend this class greatly as she was a caring person, and I was never bored with any of the work.
Prof. Vanessa is a phenomenal professor. Very passionate about her subject matter. I honestly learned so much and would take this class and professor again. She deserves all the love and recognition.
She is Amazing. Her lectures are extremely fun, I enjoyed taking her class I'm even recommending my sister to take her class.
This professor provides in depth analysis of important documents and describes them in easy to understand words. Most homework assignments have a comment that provides feedback on how to improve on writing skills and argumentation skills.
She was an AMAZING teacher. I don't have the amount of time in my hands. Her classes are HEAVY on notes but you can submit either online or physically. She made the course so easy and I enjoyed it. She does talk A LOT. her study guides are easy to read and there is a book you need for the paper due but she will provide and online version.
Dr.Vanessa is an amazing professor! Max 15-min. lecture videos & you fill out 4 note packets in total. There are 3 exams & 1 final project, if you do all the work you don't have to do the final. All of her lessons are easy, tests are open notes, & she lets you turn in work late for full credit, no questions asked. Many discussions but they're fun.
I highly recommend the summer course as it was not challenging and the workload was quite light. Moreover, the instructor is approachable and willing to answer any queries you may have. Additionally, if you submit your assignments late, she is quite generous with giving full credit.
Dr. Crispin was a great professor for Women's history. She is very passionate about the subject. Her discussion boards to start the week are always fun and always something silly or interesting. Assignments were not hard, one discussion board and one assignment a week and a notes packet for the whole semester. Love her def recommend !!!!
Watch the lectures and do all of the assignments. Not for the grade - it's truly an incredible course, and I've never been more thankful. For students that love learning but don't always feel comfortable or have the time for a classroom experience - She's beyond wonderful. Both online and face-to-face, just click "Enroll" and I promise, no regrets.
I took Dr. VCP (and professor Gary) for both HIST 10 and 25 in the fall, both being online. The courses are a lot of fun and can be a lot of busy work, however, it's never boring! The podcast she provides are so fascinating. Btw, no tests! Just some note packets, fun discussions, quick writes, and projects. Bless her for her leniency in late work!
Great class! There are podcasts and class discussions based on those. Professor assigns weekly readings and the lectures are very interesting and engaging. There is also a project at the end of the semester, as well as a written assignment for your "final." Overall I recommend this class and would take another class with Professor Crispin-Peralta.
I loved this class! I took it last year as a sophomore and it was great. The work is not difficult at all and if you have an A and no missing work you do not have to do the final. The lectures are truly interesting. I definitely recommend this class!
Vanessa is an amazing teacher. She gives great feedback on every assignment, which is 4 every week (during summer class at least). It's the second asynchronous class I've taken at LBCC and she made it amazing. I would definitely recommend her, not only for her knowledge but her understanding nature. Super easy!!
One of the best professors I've had, such a caring and genuine educator. It is so refreshing and rare to have a teacher who is genuinely passionate about what they teach. Assignments were easy but very educational. Would take this class 100 times again if I could. 10/10 recommend this course.
Love love love love the prof. She's so sweet and wants to get to know her students. Took an 8 week course and every week it starts with a fun question not related to the class, an example like what's your fav drink n such. Make sure to do the notes the week of, its ez to fall behind n get lazy. Overall really ez class and interesting!
she is the best professor I have taken at Lbcc so easy going and works well and understanding to all students also class participation makes the class so much fun and interesting.
Extremely straightforward class. Work is made up of notetaking on lectures/articles/videos, annotating podcasts, writing assignments, and class discussions. Professor is quick to grade and always leaves feedback. So long as you keep up with the work, you're set.
Professor Vanessa is probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. She made history fun and enjoyable. I learned so much without the use of lots of tests. Just like sitting down with a friend and talking history. I loved her. Take her classes !
One of my favorite professors ever. Caring in and out of class. Would have discussions outside of class because I connected so much with the content and she was always there to talk about it. Incredibly easy to be passionate about material. Would take again in a heartbeat. I took the Pride Scholars Colonial American History class at LBCC
A brilliant professor who knows what she is talking about. She is honest and straightforward with questions about anything and extremely resourceful. Take her for any class you can!
Very sweet! Workload was super straightforward and easy (took HIST25 last summer). I appreciate that she included fun discussion boards each week and consistently checked in/communicated with students
I took Dr. P for the last 8weeks and this course was the BEST and most easy sailing AND Educating I've enjoyed and ever took. She has GREAT topics regarding women of color and the history of women with society. Make sure to do Assignments and you will pass. Give the assignments the interest they deserve and you'll pass for SURE! THANK U DR. P :)
Her class was so engaging and she was so knowledgeable in every topic. She is so caring and genuinely interested in not only the topics she talks about but also in all the students. I really loved her class so much and would definitely take her class again! Definitely one of my favorite professors!
Currently waiting for feedback (7 days later) to clarify the rubric req. in these assignments. No response on any provided mode of communication. Walking into the next assignment not knowing if I'm doing the work correctly. Lectures are great. You'll hate the 'Note Packet' if you're already an avid note taker. Rely on AI?(Ew)You'll love this class.
literally the best professor ever. made the class so interesting and provided such great material. her teaching style is so lenient, yet allowed me to learn so much and digest all of the content well. cannot express enough that you should take this class with her.
She's amazing! It wasn't too much work for a summer class, but it was enough to where I deeply understood the topic and learned a lot. She keeps it interesting while covering all the important topics and then some. She's kind and her grading system is lenient, but that doesn't mean you can slack off. I'd recommend this class to anyone and everyone.
Super sweet person! It is almost impossible to not get an A in her class. Every class she had snacks for students to get. No exams or quizzes. Only one group assignment towards the end of the semester.
