Venessa Faz. Runs class like a junior high teacher. Avoid this prof if you prefer to attend a college class.
I really enjoyed this class, yes sometimes it can be a bit childish but the class is always involved. the review is always exactly like the test and she gives easy extra credit for every exam! If you put in a little effort and time, easy A.
I enjoyed her class... it was easy with a little time and effort.
I had this Prof. as a sub for over a month and she seems to be a great teacher if she was teaching her material. She is a very colorful person, great character and ALWAYS will to look up info. if she doesn't know the answer. Laid back prof.
I like her alot, she is very help full will tell you when she's wrong and is very nice. She gives lots of extra credit and the class is always invovled, yes can get out of hand but never boring. I took her 5.5week class and I have no complaints. It's lots of work so make sure you have time to dedicate to it.
this is the only class you can fail every test and still get a B. there are tons of outside assignments but they are easy. Strict but fair in every aspect
Easy class but bad teacher.she will tell you one thing and do another so make sure you get everything in writing from her or through e-mail. I liked her as a person but during class she would talk about personal issues then randomly put things on the tests. WOULD NOT TAKE HER!
she thinks that her class is the only class that a student is taking.
If you are signing for one class, it's perfect to take her class. Because she's gonna load you up with a lot of outside assignments, research papers, group presentation, current events presentation, and the mandatory textbook. Good luck!
Vanessa Faz is a great professor that keeps her students awake and participating in class. Attending her class is a must if you want to be able to get receive extra credit. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and outside assignment. Two Thumbs Up!
She was a great professor. Government is a boring subject, but she made her lecture very clear, fun and you get very involve in it. She gives out a lot of extra credits, You can't Fail her class. She is very fun and passionate as well. I really want to take her again but i can't. I recommend taking her.
I took her class a while back and she was horrible. She's rude and grades unfairly. Avoid this class at all costs.
Class is easy to pass but she is extremely unreasonable. Her instructions are very confusing and unclearly. She is no help when asking for it. She not consistent and is very rude. If you misinterpret something she doesn't work with you she just screws you over. Avoid taking her class if possible. If you do get everything in writing.
I took Ms. Faz's Texas Government class in class at ACC. Her class is very interactive and conversation in classroom was great. Ms. Faz is very clear on what she wants in her class and with the work due. Some of the work she has students do is a beat down, not because it is difficult to learn but the way it is presented is insanely time consuming.
I loved professor Faz! She was so fun & had many fun relatable stories to add to the topic of discussion. I am terrible in all things politics history government but she made things SO interesting & got an A. A few open book & take home tests, also A LOT of extra credit opportunities. Dont understand why she has bad ratings on here?
She act like her class the only one class you're taking. Would not recommend for freshmen
Faz is a great teacher for those who have different learning styles. Tests are tough but there is LOTS of extra credit so you can always get an A. I got C's on her overwhelming tests, but did all the extra credit so that my grade was over 100%. As far as acting like her class is the only class you take, she's no worse than any other prof.
She gives out a lot of extra credit and her tests are long. She is really great at not giving back your grade in a manly matter, so expect to get your test results maybe 2 weeks after. She confuses a lot of students in her directions and is unclear of what she wants. Would not recommend unless you are looking for a lot of extra credit.
Loved having Prof. Faz. Her lectures were very interesting, and had great class participation.
She offered a lot of extra credit. I never once studied for the tests and got an A. The lectures are entertaining, and her teaching is funny. She's a conspiracy theorist. If you don't agree with her theories, pay it no mind and just laugh it off. This class was a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend her if you want good grades.
Ms. Faz is a very understanding, caring and overall great teacher. She has taught many ECS classes. Her class is very manageable and you get lots of extra credit opportunities. Attendance is very important, however, if you have a solid reason for being a little late sometimes, she is very understanding. Do what's on the syllabus and get an A!
She offers extra credit, but her grading system is strict. Can get a zero for completely finishing an assignment due to one little part missing. She starts debates in her class in order to provoke discussion which causes us to get behind, and then she keeps the missed content on the test. Offers study guides, but doesn't finish content until day b4
Did not count credit for an assignment I turned in an hour after class due to technical problems with my computer. Also, I turned in the final extra credit she offered and said would boost my grade to a B yet lied and didn't include it in my final grade which resulted me a C. She also cut off reading our emails until a week after final grade given
Tough on grading, like, insanly tough. Simple mistakes on papers will get you zeros. Often times you will recive grades and have no explanation as to why you got the grade. She's rude and often long to respond to emails. She is very vauge on how things should be and if they aren't exact you'll get a zero.
I failed every test but did every extra credit assignment (along with the other easy assignments like current events/discussion boards) and got an A. Super easy class & good discussions. Don't bother getting a textbook. She doesn't like it if you show up late. If you show up everyday then you get extra credit for it
Prof Faz's government was the toughest class I've taken, and it didn't help that it was during the election. If you don't agree with her, don't bother taking her class. I would find myself being disrespected or screwed over just because of my different opinions. Also, she grades way too tough for how unclear she is on assignments.
I took her class over the election and I found her to be supportive of everyones opinions. Of course she is human and has her own but she brings an argument for hers. She will make you work to get that A but she gives extra credit too. She has a big heart and gives lectures that pull you in. This is a class that you can take a lot out of!
she is a great person and professor. very nice and loving. she will help you if you need it. she gives ALOT of extra credit. she offered 3 movies (10 points each) and 30 points on the final. she also gives 2 percent if you attend class every day. my grade went from a 78 (before extra credit and 2 points added for perfect attendance) to a 95. Easy A
Faz was one of the best professors I've ever had. If you showed up, participated in class (which is fun and easy), and REMEMBERED YOUR DUE DATES ON PAPERS, then the class was a breeze. The whole class is political debates with classmates and some tests, but a BUNCH of extra credit. If I hadn't done extra credit, I would have gotten a C or D.
Awesome. Really dun class. Make sure to do all of the extra credit!
She is one of the best professors ever! Her lectures are very aging and intresting and you really learn a bunch! Shes gives out extra credit and she is very nice and understanding and will help you out if you need it. Trust me you dont need your textbook at all for this class. 10/10 Best professor you will ever have!!!!
Prof. Faz is very sweet and she truly cares about the success of her students, but it was often hard to take her seriously. On our first day she claimed the textbook was too hard to understand, so our class would be based on her chapter summaries and lectures alone. She also occasionally taught us conspiracy theories (no joke). Didn't learn much.
Professor Faz is a wonderful teacher! I highly recommend taking her class!! She actually cares about her students and gives out TONS of extra credit and adds 2 points to your overall grade for perfect attendance. The only way you won't pass this class is if you don't try. Make sure to complete your work and turn things in on time.
Was very rude to students and was not consistent with given syllabus. Do not waste your time taking her class, it was a headache.
Worst professor I have ever had. Has a bad attitude with students, does not reply to emails, and cannot follow her own syllabus.
Professor Faz is great! Took her class online (covid) and she was v understanding and helpful. She didn't follow the syllabus exactly but it was fine because we didn't have to read the textbook, just come to lectures or watch recordings and take notes for the tests. She explains the material well and gives LOTS of extra credit, so its an easy A.
Funny and cares about her students. Plenty of extra credit work. Grades of percentages.
I really enjoyed her class. her lectures were good and assignments weren't too much. I would definitely take this class again :)
Gives A LOT of extra credit. few assignments and EASY to pass.
Very passionate about her job. Great at what she does. Highly recommend.
Mrs. Faz is my favorite teacher I've ever had and she gave sooo much extra credit and made sure everyone got an A if you did the work. also she's supper nice and has a daughter in high school so she understands our big work load. Mrs. Faz does not except late work though, just make sure you get your few ASSIGNMENTS DONE ON TIME.
Professor Faz was an amazing teacher this past semester. She gave us a lot of extra credit opportunities, so much that it was very hard to fail if you took advantage of it. All of her lectures were easy to understand with her vast knowledge and she made class very enjoyable and interesting!
I LOVE PROFESSOR FAZ! She makes government so interesting and I'm engaged in every lecture. She's such a caring individual that wants you to learn, and it's almost impossible to fail her class since she gives amazing extra credit. She is also extremely convenient with emails so contacting her is easy. 100% would take again.
If I could take this class all over again I would, Professor Faz is one of the best Professors I've had at ACC so far. Her classes are always so welcoming for conversation (and that's coming from an introvert). She gives out extra credit making it almost impossible to not pass her class.
Honestly one of the best professors I've had. The lectures were super engaging and always welcomed opinions and questions. Very good at being accomodating as well as allowing you to kind of thing for yourself with little push on political opinion and more stress on understanding the basis of decision. Up to date as well! 10/10 would take the again.
EASY A! amazing and informative prof, attendance is mandatory or you cant do ex-credit, easy tests, up to 30 pt extra credit can be earned for each test. 3 tests and 2 important assignments that are easy if you attend class!
3 tests, 3-4 short research papers, lots of extra credit but cannot be received unless you attend class, strict about the syllabus. Lecture heavy but she posts the videos so just go to class get attendance and leave after a while. Tests are 6.5/10 hard.
You have to do absolutely nothing to fail that class, she gives so much extra credit which shows she actually cares for her students to pass. She is very understanding and applies concepts to the real world. I have never enjoyed coming to a class to learn until I took her class. She does care about attendance though so go to class!!
You can easily get a 100 in this class. Tons of extra credit is assigned so even if you bomb the tests you will be okay. All you gotta do is put in the time. The assigments are not difficult to do it just takes time. Not that much time but you get what I mean. She is a very kind funny spireted person. Class usually runs short which is nice. easy A!
Ms. Faz is amazing!! I was scared at first, but I'm not sure why because I soon found she was AWESOME. She gives so much extra credit, with a lot of points, is hilarious, knowledgeable, and overall makes her class something to look forward to. 9/10 (one point off only because she didn't show us pictures of her beloved bunny!!)
TAKE HER CLASSES!! She is by far the most caring, easy-going professor out there and she'll literally pass you if you do the simple things she asks for like showing up to every class and listening to her lectures. Her classes always end early, and she gives out ample extra credit opportunities throughout each of the tests to make sure you succeed.
shes so good u should take her like shes actually super good impossible to fail the class best professor ever
Professor Faz is a great professor that makes a not so fun class alot of fun. I really enjoyed her teaching style and dedication towards helping students achieve the grade they want. For instance if you want an A you will get an A if you put in alot of effort and finish the extra credit assignments. She has to be the best professor in USGOVT.
You have a few assignments, but you get a lot of chances for extra credit. She hands out note guides and you fill them in during the class lecture, everything you learn is from class. Nice person to have as a teacher, but absolutely no phones, and if you miss a lecture has you ask classmates to show what you missed. Tests were open note online.
You have to take Prof. Faz's class! Failure is impossible, and the lectures are interesting, along with abundant extra credit opportunities.
The biggest problem I had with Prof. Faz was that there was no way to know what to study for on the tests. There were no posted learning objectives, and she always posted the lecture notes late. I think her main focus must have been on her in-person classes because I felt she didn't put much effort into this online course.
There was tons of extra credit so it was very hard to get anything but an A unless you did not do your work. Fun lectures and was a very engaging teacher!
Honestly, POLS is one of the most difficult classes at A&M. Im glad I took it at Blinn because she is literally the best professor I have ever had. there are 3 online exams, (no proctored) she gives ALOT of extra credit for those exams, upwards of 40 additional points and its not even hard. Literally no homework except online exams.
Such a fun professor! Homework is easy and tests are all online and unproctored. Lectures are fun, teacher is funny, and assignments are easy. She doesn't explain things the best, but the assignments are so simple that it makes up for it. Guaranteed A if you do the work and tons of extra credit available. Impossible to fail. No class on test days.
I love Professor Faz her tests were lecture heavy but if you participate and listen you'll get an A. It is impossible to fail her class because she gives much extra credit. Plus, her notes are guided notes you won't have to write down many things.
She is not willing to work with students. She belittles non-tradional students with this being their first experience in higher education and using tools such as blackboard to complete their work. She does not encourage first time college students feel as though they can continue and complete a higher education.
The only hard part about her class was researching for the discussion boards(takes like 30min), there is so much extra credit it still baffles me (i went from a 87-182 on one of the tests). I dont see how its possible to NOT get a A in her class.
She is the reason I love government, best professor ever!
Amazing class. Nuff said.
Professor Faz is an amazing/caring professor that gives great lectures and is very helpful on assignments when you ask her for help. There was many opportunities for extra credit, which you should take full advantage even if you're doing well in the class, as it can only help you. Make sure to take notes and write down examples and ask questions.
Prof Faz was not clear on assignment objectives and gave nearly half our class 0s over an assignment with an unclear rubric, multiple people in this class dropped their entire school semester because of her when emailed she will ignore if she doesnt like it. Cancels class A LOT. Wanted to like this class :/
No clear instructions for assignments plus surprise assignments towards the end.
I took Professor Faz online, so the experience could be different for others who take in-person, but I felt like I didn't learn anything. The lectures felt unstructured and muddled. Felt like I was listening to "top 10 facts". There's better out there. The coursework itself was easy, with lots of opportunities for extra credit.
This professor is extremely biased and everything is based on her opinion only. Being someone with opposite political views it was very challenging. I also didn't learn any government at all. Don't take this class if you don't want to listen to a biased professor. She is also very strict on citing which can be annoying.
She's an awesome teacher. However, there's only 6 things she grades you on so DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. If it wasn't for the extra credit I would've passed the class with a C instead of A. Other than that, I did the online 16-week course and it was very well paced.
You'll discuss what bothers her personally. She tries to influence students' minds instead of fostering critical thinking. She doesn't explain grade deductions, which doesn't align with the rubric—maybe punishes students for views that don't match hers. Be prepared for poor communication, with an overly authoritative tone, and strict MLA rules
Overall easy class with lots of extra credit. 13 quizzes from online textbook you have to buy to do them (~$120), 4 discussion boards that's around 3-4 questions with a source in MLA (it's pretty left topics), 1 legislative letter to state HOR & senator, 3 exams no lock down but can only complete on Sunday (it's simple 100 mcq or true false)
The only thing that saved me was the extra credit. Test were hard, long, and not supported by the BIASED textbook you have to purchase. The instructions/rubrics were usually not clear and grades took forever. When it came to discussions, everything went well. Do the extra credit and be aware of small rubric comments.
Super easy A. All quizzes and exams unproctored, exams are 100 questions but they're easy. People talk about bias on different viewpoints... but I could easily see from discussion boards who was getting points off due to MLA. She's super clear that she takes off points for incorrect MLA usage and has a detailed MLA guide available. Tons of EC.
She cares about her students, just do the work and youll be fine.
The three test exams were scheduled on Sundays, each lasting three hours. All got messed up, with no access to tech support because... it was Sunday. We never received feedback on the 100 questions—no breakdown of what was correct or incorrect. She doesn't grade until the last week, so you never know how much extra credit you need.
Discussion board assignments lacked balance and were presented from one side only. Extremely BIASED articles from clearly partisan newspapers were used repeatedly. Grades were not aligned with the rubric. The textbook costs $120 on Cengage, yet its related test contributes only 10% to the final grade. Grading was late, and communication was poor.
This was my worst class experience at ACC. The professor put in minimal effort but graded harshly. She had repeated tech issues in the new BB, yet dismissed my tech challenges related to outdated government databases required for the assignment. Not sure which students she cares about—probably the ones who share her personal views.
Thinks this is an English class - will dismiss and give you a bad grade on small citation errors and ignore any research you've done.
The grading is extremely harsh, and expectations aren't always clear. Even when I try to follow the rubric, feedback is minimal. The class isn't difficult content-wise, but the lack of transparency and support makes it frustrating. Would not recommend if you value clear instructions and fair feedback.
I would not reccomend. Formatting stickler, will give you a bad grade if you can't follow her formatting directions to a T regardless of whether or not you wrote a good paper. You're not actually learning, you're just walking her absurd line. Pointless.
Ms. Faz explicitly posts expectations for the assignments. MLA is extremely important, so be prepared to learn if inexperienced with this format. She seems harsh in her messages, but I feel that she just has explicit and strict expectations that are disclosed upfront, so any exceptions will not be entertained. There's plenty of extra credit!
This teacher has very strict grading rules, particularly on formatting. It doesn't matter if you write a good paper or include everything she has asked; if you don't follow her unclear formatting rules, it's a 0. I wouldn't suggest taking this class; the material is easy, but grading is harsh and unforgiving.
You do more papers than learn actual material. Papers are 20% of your grade and get graded super hard. She gives zeros for small format errors which I feel like she should have better sample papers. She doesn't really let you redo or makeup anything, its just advised to all the extra credit. I felt more hurt than helped. She emails back fast.
The hardest part of the class was the current event topics since she graded with very strict MLA formatting. Gave feedback on probably the first 2 or 3 for what you got wrong but after that there was no telling where you missed points at. The tests are easy if you've read the book, 100 questions and not proctored. The extra credit is so worth it!
Don't let the reviews fool you. IS Strict on guidelines, 1-2 mistakes on hw can get you a failing grade. Attendance only first 3days w/Qwickly. 100 question Exams. But Mrs.Faz knows she grade tough bc she give GRADE CHANGING extra credit! I went from a 77% to a 103.6% w/Extracredit. Ppl who get below an A don't put in effort to improve their grade.
All assignments had clear rules with lots of examples which helped me. If I had any questions, she was able to email back promptly. There is not a ton of work for the class but the work given are bigger assignments. I felt like I learned a lot in the class including how to cite MLA without using NoodleTools. Overall great class and would recommend!
Harsh grader with unclear instructions, does not allow redo's on assignments, especially on the paper. If you don't follow her formatting, it's an auto 0 despite hitting all the requirements. I wouldn't suggest taking this professor for govt; she is very unforgiving and dismissive in emails.
Very easy class. Tons of extra credit. For the second test, I got 80 points of extra credit, giving me a 178 on the test. My final grade was a 111. 2 main assignments for the whole year. She grades very tough on the rubric, so follow closely. I got a 94 and a 100 on them. Multiple people got 50s for following the rubric incorrectly.
She is very rude in her emails and always wants you to email her a certain way. This was supposed to be a zero cost textbook class, but she made us pay for an online textbook. Also lots of homework due every week. As if this is your only class.
She assigned heavy homework, graded harshly with little feedback, and often canceled class. We got no credit for the class movie after waiting 20 minutes for her absence. She falsely claimed leaked tests, forcing in-person exams, which was later forgotten. The course was easy, but her class structure was disorganized and frustrating.
Prof Faz is inconsistent at best, she is clear in how she wants to teach the class, but is harshly strict on formatting, and is very biased from a liberal viewpoint. Which is perfectly fine, especially if you share her views. But its hard to understand. I was in her class for 16 weeks and cannot say what the new jersey plan was.
Tough grader on formatting, but posts a clear criteria and as long as you follow that and communicate if you have a question, it's not a big deal. LOTS of extra credit, 100 question unproctored exams, not that many assignments (one every 1-2 weeks), 2 major assignments, need to buy online textbook. Easy to pass, not a fan of the way she lectures tho
Worst part was that the 3 exams were 100 questions -- just completely unnecessary and overkill. Kind of picky on discussion format, but easy to manage. Wish she'd have less partisan discussion prompts, even though I align with all of them; otherwise it's not really a discussion. Gives so much extra credit opportunities, it's hard to not pass.
Have you ever wanted to meet Helen Keller? If so, take this class and meet her for yourself. You will not be heard, seen, nor will she communicate with you. Doesn't not answer questions well, and when she does it's with sass and annoyance. Tough grader overall
