She's a very smart teacher, but she really doesn't explain what she wants from fer students. When you get a paper back, then she tells you what she wanted from us. A lot of writing and reading. Not an easy teacher.
She gives a lot of work for what should be an easy class. she can be unclear at times, but overall she's not too bad. on a scale from 1-10 i would give her a 5. she's smart, so you might like her.

Prof. Domine knows her subject and really provides a forum for educators to better themselves. If you are interested in changing curriculum and implementing technology to a high level in your classroom, take her. I adore her and her ideas. If you are not technologically savvy (blogs, e-mailing of resources, etc.), this is not the course for you.
i have to say i found her to be the MOST helpful of any prof. I have encountered @ the university. The only reason to fail this class is a lack of sincere interest in teaching or attendance. She 100% prepares you and gives great insight for those who are interested in a teaching future!

Professor Domine is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had at MSU! I can't even believe a few people would put neutral or negative feedback for her! You must be on drugs...anyway she is so helpful, so passionate about her profession and makes sure you succeed you no matter what! 3 exams all open book + 3 weekly blogs. what more can you ask for?
Absolutely wonderful class and great professor! She is always available and answers emails so quickly. There is 30 hrs of work in an urban school. One paper and blog entries throughout the semester. I'd take her again!! Awesome!!
seems like a tough cookie but she is nice overall. community service hours tend to be ridiculous but its def. not her fault. enjoyed this class but it was boring at times because we really never talked about anything that most of us didnt know already.. she is a great teacher that knows her stuff and will debate you on anything!
The work required for this class is extremely informative and a lot of fun too. There is one 10-15 page paper due at the end of the semester. The blogs were the worst part of the class but they were only to make sure everyone is actually doing work. She's always available and willing to help. Not to mention she's hot.
Took her for CURR210. GREAT TEACHER! There is some weekly blogs, 1 paper at the end, GREAT teacher though! She's hard, but fair.
Great professor! Course involves field work but everything is layed out in such a way where this class becomes a rather easy one. Fieldnotes, a weekly blog, and a final paper compose the course. I reccomend Dr. Domine 100%

if you have to take this class, take it with domine. she's perfectly clear on everything the course requires from the first day of class. she makes it as simple as possible, and is beyond fair. again, take her.
Dr. Domine really has an awful lot of work for a one-credit course. She's nice in person, but boy was she strict and a bit unclear for this online class. While a few of the activities were fun and worthwhile, most of them were redundant and time-consuming. All-in-all, try to take someone else for this class . . .
This professor was amazing! She KNOWS her stuff! She is nice and fair. We had readings due every class and a short 3 question quiz each class, but you CANNOT miss her class! Definitely an easy grade and you LEARN something! Totally recommend her!
So unhelpful for her online class. I don't know why she bothered teaching it if she would reply to our emails telling us to basically go bother her student assistant instead.

She is a very hard, unfair grader. Technology in the classroom is supposed to be a one credit course, but she made it a 3 credit burden. I would try to take it with someone else, definitely.
DO NOT TAKE HER. I'm not sure if its because she can't teach an online class but she is extremely unclear and full of herself. She takes points off for things you've done (so double check all assignments). Also she refuses to talk to you but makes you talk to the t.a instead. She is everything contrary to what a GOOD teacher should be.
If I wanted to do Google searches and make pointless spreadsheets, I could do it in my own time.
Lot of work, but she prepares you for whats coming in the teach program. helps you to stay organized and prepared. quiz every class was annoying on the readings. one timed 2 hour final at the end of the semester which was stressful. lot more work off campus than on campus. Probably easier teachers out there but still a good teacher to take.
I was a straight A student, yet got a B in her 1 credit class. That was after I received a string of inexplicable C's and before I asked for an explanation. Then, I miraculously began getting A's, but it was too late. Pretty sure only her TA did any work. Worst professor I ever had.
Shes a great teacher for public speaking. Ive changed so much on a personal level because of her class. Shes the best, so smart, so nice, funny, TAKE HER.
Dr. Domine was okay. She is a TOUGH grader so you better have a good speech and outline (especially OUTLINE). She didn't really "teach" per say, she told us what to do, maybe elaborate a little, then expect you to have a perfect speech by the due date. 5 speeches, a Speech Critique paper, and a small final. In my opinion, go for a different teacher
She is kind of full of herself. She is a tough grader for a gen Ed speech class. She expects way more than she should for the speeches and has a lot of guidelines to follow. Makes you nervous to get in front of a class.
For a gen ed requirement, I really had to work hard to get a good grade! She is very specific on what she wants and if it is not done her way it will reflect on your grade! If you can I would skip on her and try getting an easier professor. She gives too much work and asks for the longest outlines for such an easy class!
Honestly one of the rudest professors I have ever had. She not only was unclear about most of the assignments but when you contact her for help she is so rude and belittling, while still offering no help. For a GenEd this class was more work than it should have been. Do not recommend, you can definitely find a better class to take,
She made a girl cry in class. She is very full of herself, and even has a whole website dedicated to her. She is very condescending. She expects graduate level sumbitted work, and is a tough grader. Quizzes every class. She is not understanding, but you can pass her class if you put in the work and get past her bad traits.
Worst professor I have ever taken. VERY full of herself. If you can avoid taking her, do it. Very unclear on assignments, reading quizzes every week- beyond excessive. If you miss class she doesn't care why she will fail you. RUDE feedback on assignments. Nothing is good enough for her. Worked 40 hours on final paper and she still tore it apart.
Domine is the worst professor I have ever taken. She is extremely rude and will not help you if you miss anything. She is the toughest grader too. If you dont hand in your assignment a certain way it's an automatic zero. Attendance is mandatory and if you miss class 3 times (no matter the reason) you fail the class.
Professor Domine is a tough, but fair teacher. I had her for Intro to Communication and Media Arts and Language of Television. Her weekly quizzes may make you second guess yourself, but she is very knowledgeable within those subjects. Make sure you READ THE SYLLABUS CLEARLY so you know the expectations within the class.
She really is not that bad. She does give weekly quizzes but do the reading and maybe take some notes to remember important terms. The class is lecture heavy, but again taking notes can be helpful (she also posts them on her blog). The lectures are interesting. There is a 10 page final paper but it wasn't bad. You have to work for your grade.
Basically, as long as you study, show up, and do your work she's fine. Quizzes for every chapter, but you expect them. READ THE SYLLABUS. She designs it to basically answer any question you have. She uses canvas for tests and quizzes and you get grades pretty much immediately. She doesn't tolerate laziness or excuses so seriously just do the work.
Professor Domine is a very intelligent and sophisticated professor. Quizzes every class; reading is mandatory!! Quizzes boost your grade so care about them and study for them. Attendance is mandatory! She is really smart and caring so ask her questions and learn from her!! She is such a great resource for Montclair students.

If you have this woman as an advisor do whatever you can to switch. SHE IS AWFUL! You can't get a word in, she is no help and is extremely stuck up. Made an appointment with her over email, told me to come at 10am, I showed up and she told me she had no meeting with me very rudely. Had to show her the email to prove it. Ugh save yourself the stress
Do not take Professor Domine. Will fail you for missing class, no matter the reason, and is not willing to discuss anything. Very rude when confronted, and not at all interested in the concerns of students. Very one-track minded, and overall not a professor worth the trouble.
I don't get where these good and awesome comments are coming from. She is extremely rude and not helpful. She probably wrote those comments herself, students beware! Only because you want to make sure you get the best experience at MSU and have teachers who you feel you can turn to if you need help.
She is one of those professors I heard such scary things about before taking one of her courses. Truth is, she really isn't bad. She is a pretty tough grader and is pretty picky on what she wants from you, but she is honestly a fair professor and I would consider taking her again. 1-2 weekly quizzes, one final project and some viewer responses.
Domine comes off as intimidating and it feels like she is talking down to her students. However, if you pay attention and make an effort to improve at public speaking and aren't disrespectful, you'll learn a lot about public speaking and will do fine. Also, make sure you rehearse 6 times before a speech, it goes a long way and she always can tell.
One of the best profs I've ever had the chance to take. Took her for Investigative Research Methods. She is intimidating at first, but she is a GREAT teacher. Gives great feedback and is always willing to help. The things I have learned in her class are so important and have helped me immensely. If you actually want to learn something, take her.
She is a nice professor. She says everything clearly and how it is. You get a quiz every class that is 6 questions long, which is easy for the most part (if you read the corresponding chapter though). One hw assignment every week, other than that barely any work.

Don't get me wrong, I love Dr. Greenwood as a person but as a professor she does not have time for nonsense. As long as you pay attention to the main points in class and try your best to participate she'll give you a good grade, but she doesn't want excuses. If you think you can cruise by in her lecture hall you'd be sorely mistaken.

She says on the first day that she treats her syllabus like a contract and she means it. She wants you to be clear and concise so if you want something from her, don't beat around the bush; just ask. She's cool with you as long as you participate in class, work hard, and show her respect.
Shes rude, drags the class with unnecessary chat that will not help with tests. She said she didnt care if someone died, if you miss more than 3 classes you fail and she doesnt care about an excuse. By far the WORST professor I've ever had. She's rude and could care less about her students. She teaches you NOTHING and expects you to learn it all on your own, but gives you a quiz every class. I had to literally drop her class and will be taking it with a better professor this summer. She is awful, save yourself the trouble and dont take her.

When I ask for help and clarification, she is RUDE and makes me feel stupid. She has unattainably high expectations, so no matter how much effort you put in, it is never good enough. This class causes me so much stress and anxiety, I have cried numerous times because I am unable to do well...I am a straight A student with a 3.8 GPA. Good luck.
Don't take her class, it was too much work and effort. She made me reconsider majoring in the Communications field and now I'm a Psychology major instead lol.

Dr. Greenwood sticks to her syllabus. She is very clear about what she expects, and guides you to success. Everything she wants you to do she lays out for you. She is very concise and clear, and I am looking forward to having her again, because of how much she cares. If you do the work, you will learn so much. Definitely recommend.
Professor Greenwood is an impressive and accomplished professor and I admire her directness. I found her lectures to be informative and easy to follow. She sticks to her syllabus and has high, but reasonable expectations. She was also always kind to me through emails. The quiz and exam material is right out of the book- not challenging if studied.
Although she is a harsh professor and she may seem to mean, she is a well-respected woman who knows what she's doing. There's a lot of reading but if you do the readings and pay attention to lectures you'll be fine.

Makes a point every class to state that shes divorce and single and male students at MSU are beautiful. Creepy and a horrible teacher.
Took her for Investigative Research Methods because she was the only person that teaches the class and I hated it. The class is confusing and she is rude. Take quizzes where you have to read the book. If you dont have the book you might as well drop the class. The quizzes are out of 5pts so the lowest score you can get is 4/5. Stay away if you can
Professor Greenwood is a great teacher, she conveys her message clearly and gives honest feedback; whether itd be pertaining to your assignments or your responses in classes. She receives backlash from students because she isnt an easy grader but if youd like to actually learn and apply that knowledge, shes your gal.

Professor Greenwood is the WORST professor this campus has. Shes condescending, mean, lacks empathy and even human decency. High expectations but provides LITTLE instruction. Lazy teaching method; relies heavy on group work. Ive learned nothing in this course. Avoid her at ALL COSTS.
This is the WORST and RUDEST professor I have ever met in my life. She doesnt care about her students. If you ask for help she basically says that you need to figure it out your self. Shes not kind and if you have to skip class for an emergency no matter how bad it is she doesnt care and will fail you in a heart beat.

AWFUL. Prof Greenwood is incredibly rude and will do anything to belittle you. She has made me cry multiple times. For a 200 level course, she expects graduate-level work so get ready to read, take tons of quizzes and get awful grades for your hard work. MSU needs to get a new professor to teach this course.
Dr. Greenwood has little regard for her students and will work them to death if humanly possible. I took her 110 class last year and it was the same deal. Test every day, boring lectures, tens of pages of reading every night Her courseload is impossible to complete and only cares about the grade, never the effort. AVOID HER CLASSES AT ALL COSTS!!!
SO i never had her as a professor, but she is the most pathetic academic advisor the world has ever seen. Her pure incompetence is baffling. I have had 5 administrations meetings with her, and every single time I had to go back because there was a problem with registration I was assured wouldn't happen. OK professor, boring class. Doesn't work WITH students and doesn't seem to answer email. The little things are actually annoying like 10 minutes on quizzes (we don't all work at the same pace), or for the final we weren't allowed to go back to previous answers, as to not "second guess ourselves". Not cool. Wouldn't take her again by choice.
I took her for CMDA110 my freshman year and loved her, great professor for a class as long as you are interested in the subject. Took her again my junior year and almost cried after every class. She treats CMDA280 as if you're graduate/doctorate students and and is rude when students ask for help. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS! YOUR GPA WILL THANK YOU!
I took her TV Criticism class as an aspiring TV critic and learned absolutely nothing that could help me in my career. Instead of allowing us to write TV reviews she only gave us assignments that canvas could grade for her. Then she cut the time for the final in half without warning us and tested us on a unrelated book she wrote about Disney World.
A great professor who's passionate about the subject. She said that she feels like she has the prettiest syllabus we'll see in college, and she was right. She makes her expectations for the class clear. We had quizzes on the readings, but she would curve quizzes if questions were unfair. Prepares you well for final. Read the text, and you'll be ok.

If you're just looking to fill a gen-ed, this probably isn't the class to take. She is very passionate, I found her lectures really engaging. Shows a ton of videos in class, 1-2 quizzes every class and you NEED TO DO THE READING!! I learned a ton, but it's definitely not for the faint of heart. Also very little leeway with attendance.
The lectures are pretty boring and there is a quiz to start every class on a lockdown browser. There is little leeway for absences. If you miss class, you get an automatic 0 on that week's quiz. She drops the lowest quiz score at the end of the semester which is cool, but if you miss a second class, you're screwed. The quizzes are not cake walk.
A difficult class. Though tough I learned a lot about how to view and critique media and art. If you are planning on becoming a producer of art/media take this class. Meaningful instruction that will have you understand how art/media is understood and evaluated. Tricky quiz questions. Feedback is concise and will prepare you for the final.
I cant even begin to explain how confusing she is. nothing in her class is clear, she spends all class reviewing the answers to the quiz, literally talking about nonsense. never going over what will actually be graded in the future. Literally, she hurts my brain
Vanessa Greenwood's class summed up in 3 words. Dense, useless, and uninspiring. She acts as if she's better than everyone else in the class just because she has a Ph.D. A Ph.D. doesn't entitle you to be rude to other students and not offer help. Useless.

She pretty blunt I will say. Her quizzes are very hard. She does not explain things enough and there IS SO MUCH reading. Oh and god help you if you have a question. "ITS IN THE SYLLABUS". Like im going to read that whole thing. I had her during COVID and the lockdown browser was extremely invasive as she could watch you through the camera.
This class was pretty tough to get through. Prof Greenwood is a really hard grader, and the feedback she gives for the group projects can be confusing. There are weekly quizzes for the chapters in the text book, and the questions are super specific. If you try your best you wont fail the course, but it is frustrating.
I took Dr. Greenwood twice, and both times I found her class to be challenging. Not that this is a bad thing -- not every class is going to be a cakewalk. She is a strict grader but lays everything out pretty clearly. As long as you remain aware of deadlines and meet the requirements for each assignment, you're set.
Despite her HORRIBLE reviews, Dr.Greenwood is a great professor. She's very wise and knows what she's talking about. The way she speaks is very articulative so it may be hard to understand but once you understand the way she wants things done it'll be easier to get great grades on her assignment. Love hearing about her life she hilarious
It is so hard to perform well. She gives quizzes and blog posts every week based on a very expensive book. She only dropped 3 low quiz grades at the end bc we asked. I was getting 70s until I did the assignment instructions very clearly and according to the book. Constant homework, definitely not an easy A. She's cool but very hard. Good luck lol
445/Online 4-week: Theory class with 15 shorts quizzes (during class, 5 lowest were dropped) and 5 exercise assignments that are pretty brief. The final you write from the perspective of 5 media ecologists. Readings are long but you can skim for key ideas. A lot of participation options. I thought it was well worth it for only lasting a month.
Do not take her classes. She barely gives anyone a 100 on anything. weekly quizzes, sometimes twice a week on readings that don't have to do with anything she's teaching. She gives terrible advice and won't answer any questions unless you show up to her office hours.
Media Permaculture Design - Walk into this class with an open mind. She's an amazing professor and she's so smart, if you're lucky enough to take a class as niche as this I'd highly recommend. It can definitely be challenging, but you'll develop a really unique and unconventional way of thinking about media. Don't be scared and ask questions!
She wasn't bad at all! The weekly assignments included a quiz and a discussion post! Take her if you can.
