Loved her. She was the best. She made the lab so much fun to go to. I actually looked forward to going to class. Serious study time and fun time were well separated. She was always willing to help and was very student oriented. She made me love going to lab.

I love this teacher. She is young, hip, and nice. Her class is casual and gives you mini lesson before each lab. Quizes are fair and practical isn't worth a whole lot of points. You can fail it and possibly pass the class!

Vanessa Hormann is an amazing professor. She is very helpful and fun to talk with. She tells you what to study, if you don't know it then thats your own fault. Vanessa is still a bit new at preparing tests for lecture classes, but she accepts criticism well. She is very knowledgeable on the subject, and I thoroughly enjoyed being in her class, I just dreaded the tests a bit. Her lab is lots of fun, but informative, and she quizzes fairly.

Vanessa was a great teacher! I was lucky to have chose her for lab. She doesn't take herself too seriously, and tries to make it fun for everyone. Considering how much you have to take in during a six week class, I always had a good time.

Vanessa was a joy to work with. She knows the material very well and made class time fun so you enjoyed coming to her class. I did get a B but I also didn't study as well as I could for one of the exams. Make sure you take each exam seriously because in the end, all of those 10 point quizzes sure make a difference. I would highly recommend her.

Vanessa is AMAZING! I am a biology major, and like biology. This is not an EASY class, but the class average was about an 83%. She teaches well, and tests on what she teaches. She is a teacher who likes what she does, and cares about her students. She tries to make it fun for the whole class. She cracks many jokes. One of the best teachers at BC.

She is simply the best! She makes the material fun to learn and really cares for her students. The class is not a cake walk but it is definitely passable. Attendance is not mandatory but alot of what she says during class is on the exams. She's young, hip, and most importantly, she speaks English. Wish I could take her for every science class.

This class is not super easy! The professor is great and will help you with anything you don't understand. Her test though are super hard. She generally cares about her students and will do anything to get you to pass. If you want an easy A this is not the class to take. If your not a lazy student then take her she's great!

Vanessa is one of the best professors I've had at Broward. She makes class interesting, entertaining, especially with her corny jokes & I actually enjoyed class. The class wasn't too hard (the quizes and final project helped) yet I learned a lot and it helped prepare me for the PCAT. I wish I could have had her for some of my other classes.

She's under 30 which I think makes her a more productive teacher vs. some 50-something who could be burned out. So this is good. Class tests mostly come from her PPTs. Class Assignments boost your grade. A couple chances at extra credit. I had to put in a lot of library time but it was worth it-- I'm content with my B, considering the subject.

Show up EVERY TIME because what she considers "Skill Check" points are actually just Attendance Points. Other than that, study the PPTs backwards and forwards for the quizzes and you'll do fine. Then do it again 50 more times before the Practical (80 questions) and you will be set. I got an A in lab which I was actually thrilled about.

Vanessa in one word "AWESOME". She is young and full of knowledge. She has a slight lisps but is very clear. This is pre-requisite to Nursing so you have to study, but she makes it fun and easy to understand. LOVE HER.

You only need the book for Stay home Assessments on Blackboard. For her tests make sure u study or you most likely will not pass. It`s pretty easy, simple if u just look over her powerpoints before tests. It`s basically easy as long as you study. She is nice

Great teacher. I highly recommend her for any science class you can get. Not too hard, very helpful, shows you your Cumulative grade after every test to see how you are doing. Just listen, and study what she tells you to, and you'll do great. I got an A!

This professor was awesome!!! I took biology three times so I was really nervous the third time around. Vanessa, as she likes to be called, was really good at explaining the material and helped you out with any questions you had before, during, after class and even during exams. The material wasn't easy but she really explained it with great detail using examples that would stick. Overall her class was great, her attitude was wonderful and she makes you feel comfortable. Take her!!

Your homework is on connect plus,and that requires sometime I currently have a 85 in her class with 3 test remaining. Print her lecture notes b4 class.

I never understood Biology until I took her class!! She lectures in the best way possible and throws in a few jokes. For the lab, we take more than bearable quizzes each class, which come directly off of the 5-8 page slide show (printable via D2L) I wish she taught all my classes. I never understood biology before this class, and she was able to teach it in a manner that was easy to understand and stuck! Participation is a must in this class and you MUST show up each day. Professor Hormann is a great teacher. I just finished her 8 week blended course. There were 3 in class tests and 1 online. You MUST study! You have homework due on Sunday night each week which is very simple. There are pop quizzes, but she tells you when they are going to be. She made the information interesting and related it to real life things.

Professor Hormann is extremely helpful. Every day we take a simple quiz and do a lab activity. You don't need a textbook or goggles; just a lab coat and lab manual. She is so funny and makes her class understandable for all students. Her class was only a few weeks long and I passed with an "A" while taking 6 other classes. She's phenomenal!

I took her hybrid General Biology, so in 8 weeks. There's a lot of online work, the homework is a little difficult. She gives tests, quizzes and an online final. That final helped my grade immensely. I recommend printing out the powerpoint chapter that she'll lecture in class; too much to write yourself. There are assignments due every weekend.

As long as you show up to class and follow her study guides, easy A. Also, she is very friendly and will help you if you do not understand. I highly recommend!

She is willing to help 24/7 and will try her very best to help you pass. A&P1 Lab is extremely hard but she made the best of it. I wish she taught A&P2L

I was weary of her bio lab mainly because she gives quizzes based off the previous lab each class. But the quizzes are simple, I'd study right before class. The labs are not that bad, if you need help she'll be there for you. Super nice, makes life so simple, is lenient, class doesn't require much effort. Highly recommended.

Would take again in a heart beat. Teacher is knowledgeable of the material. Only required lab manual. Quizzes before each class of material learned prior. Show up, do the labs in the manual and you'll succeed. Don't and if sure you know the rest.

Everything for the exam literally comes from the PowerPoint/lecture. Going to class is not mandatory. However, it helps. It is not hard to get an A at all but STUDY!!!

Dr. Hormann is an exceptional lecturer and she knows her subject. I took her for a 3 hour weekly lecture and she kept us entertained the whole time. Her exams are difficult so make sure you study! Planning on taking her again in the Fall for 2086.

I had her for the lecture and the lab. The lecture was pretty straight forward and she tried to make the lessons understandable. The tests were fairly easy and there are quizzes. The labs can be a little confusing but she's always willing to help. There's a quiz every class but they're easy. She's lenient with how she grades your lab book as well!

I took this course as a Hybrid, Fast-Track during this summer (2017). As a Non-Bio major, I was able to understand the information easily. She is willing to answer any questions we may have, and breaks it down even more if there is still a misunderstanding. I really enjoyed her class. Maybe I will become a science teacher myself.

Overall great professor. Beware of quiz days she tends to lecture about another chapter than give the quiz right before its time to go. Besides that she will help you pass her class if you willing to make the effort.

LOVE HER! TAKE HER! She's super sweet and really helps you understand what's being taught. Took her for both lecture and lab. The lab was really fun. The test in the lecture can be a bit challenging but you can ask as many questions as you want she'll answer all of them.

I loved this Professor because I am terrible at Bio and she made it as simple as she possibly could. If you aren't strong in the subject, she is probably your best bet. Learning the content does require you to pay attention and show up. Feel free to ask her questions. Laid back, understanding. Tests can be difficult if you don't study.

The lecture part for her class there are 0 quizzes. 4 test with final online and homework assignment. Homework is not that easy but you have two tries for it. The study guides are good but some questions were not on test so I would read the powerpoint. Didn't take attendance once the class is pretty hard I don't know why folks would say otherwise.

She is awesome. You will love her. If you study her PowerPoints and record her you will pass the class with an A. If your lazy and study last minute you will fail.

She is very funny and manages to keep the lectures interesting. Pay attention and take lots of notes and you'll do fine on her tests. The hw is probably the hardest part of the class but they are all online. Passed with an A. Definitely recommend her.

The class is not hard to pass but not easy to get a A. there even a case study online saying 14 percent of people get a A the class.I don't know why users would rate the difficulty a 1 on here. Most of her test questions are not super hard, but there are some tricky ones, which is why I never received a high A on any expect the online final.

I love this professor she's super nice and funny. Anatomy is hard but she made it bearable especially for an 8 am class! I took her for BSC2085L too her labs were easy she gave the class 100 on two quizzes. STUDY!! Her tests were worded kinda hard just ask her questions and she'll help you understand. I will forever love herrrr!!! This would be my second attempt in Anatomy, and she makes it so easy. If you go to all her classes, its an automatic 100. Quiz every class, but she makes a powerpoint thats exactly like the quiz. Basically you have the answers. 2 practicals, 60 questions each. Drops lowest quiz grade.

She is an amazing professor!! The class is very hard but she makes it easy. All you really need to do is study the powerpoints and you will be fine. One thing i found challenging was that she says things that are not in her powerpoints so make sure you write down whatever she says. I suggest printing the powerpoints out. GOODLUCK!

BEWARE! Fully online BSC1005 is super difficult! It was last class I needed for AA and it was the hardest one I've ever taken at Broward. There are 5 PROCTORED exams (but 1 gets dropped) - it was stressful! I got an A as my final grade, but I worked SO MUCH! But Prof Hormann is amazing. This crazy course isn't her fault. She is helpful and caring.

I wish I could take her again. Her lectures are amazing and funny. She really makes sure that everyone understands the material and wants everyone to pass. There were 4 assignments online which you get 2 attempts to complete, and the tests are literally what you learn in class. She is easy to contact outside of class and is simply amazing.

Great professor, I took her Biology class online and she really helped me all the time. She will answer your emails within minutes. I enjoyed every single topic and learned so much, especially with the aid of the "Amoeba Sisters" videos that she posts as part of the class. Amazing professor.

Honestly I wish every class could be like this. I took Hormann for a blended e-learning short term A&P II and I would take this over a traditional full semester course hands down. She is exceptionally clear and informative in her lectures. No extra stuff you don't need to know. She actually wants you to pass and doesn't treat this like a weed out.

I took Dr. Hormann for an online 1005 lecture and face to face lab. She is AMAZING! I really liked her energy in lab and wished I had taken my lecture face to face with her. She told me that the online class is taught through a template, so she is just the administrator and has to grade through rubrics that's why it's so rigid. She answers emails!!

Without Dr. H's guidance, I would not have passed 2086 lab. She is patient, kind, and always walks around lab to help us out. I cant tell you how many times Dr. H focused my microscope and gave me tips about histology. I wish I had taken her for 2085 lab and lecture. She is the best!

She is awesome and you can learn a lot from her! The only people complaining here are the ones who are not strong in biology and have a hard time passing science classes. If science is your thing, you will love her classes. Very clear lectures, extremely hands on and helpful in the lab, she taught me a great deal and is always so bubbly and sweet.

Just finished my 1005 online course with Dr. H, and I gotta say it was the best online class I have taken so far at BC. She sends us emails every Monday with reminders of what Is due that week, she answers emails quickly. I also like that she posts exam outlines so you can prep for the 100 point exams.

Its anatomy and physiology, you will have reading, you will memorize material, and you will need to learn how to apply the knowledge. Still, Dr. Hormann keeps the lectures engaging and interactive. The exams are only from the material you cover in class and it is "connect" heavy, but connect truly makes you learn the material to get your grade.

She was one of the best professors I have encountered. She is such a sweetheart and very caring I only took her for biology lab but If I knew she taught the lecture then I would've taken her for both. Choose her immediately cause her class fills up pretty quickly. She was very helpful and knew her stuff very well. I appreciated that very much.

Hands down the nicest, most approachable professor I've ever taken. Lightens up the mood by always telling little jokes, can break down concepts into easy to understand ideas. Wish I took her for the lab also. Online Connect homework, great PPTs, tests were fair, some more complicated questions that you need to read the PPTs carefully for.

Dr. Hormann is so awesome!! I took her remote for BSC1005 as well and now I passed both classes with an A. She is so sweet and compassionate towards her students and she loves what she does. My advice is make sure you attend her virtual hours session every week because she tells the answers on HW, etc. :)

This professor really cared about her students and took the time to explain each lab for us. She was always willingly to answer any questions we had. I am definitely going to take her again. She loves science so much that she wrote the textbook for the class. Super sweet, friendly, and fun professor. Made learning exciting. We had a sub one day that made the class boring, but when she came back it was fun again. She works with you and makes sure you understand the concepts regardless of if you ask in person or online, she makes time.

Professor Hormann goes above and beyond to make sure her students learn the material. Quizzes at the beginning of every class (very easy if you study using the companion website) and two practicals make up your final grade. Participation is important as in every class you receive points, and she gives extra credit for attending the ASC.

Dr. H's class might not be the easiest but let me tell you, it will prepare you for the Hesi exam. Super organized, she sends emails every Monday reminding you of what's due. You can work ahead. She responds to your emails, let's you review quizzes and exams. Honestly, I'm going to miss her class...eventhough it kept me busy.

Prof. H is an amazing professor, her lectures are fun and she is quite funny. Her exams are based on her lectures and powerpoints. She also has a bunch of connect/online assignments. She answers emails really quick. I really enjoyed her class.

This lab is tough but the prof has a clear schedule with weekly emails. The quizzes are based on the practical review lists at the end of the exercises, lots of labeling. Read the syllabus, it explains how everything is setup. I reached out to Dr. H a few times, she got back to me quickly and told me what I got wrong on my quizzes + how to improve.

Great Professor! Very organized and Fair! Explains everything clearly. Only problem is quizzes have no multiple choice or word bank. But she is an excellent instructor otherwise. You must study hard for the Final Practical. Quizzes are not to bad otherwise but STUDY! She is a very fair grader and east to talk to. Wish more Professors were like her!

I took Professor Hormann for Anatomy 1 lab and she was a great professor. We met every monday and we had a quiz almost every class. She gives you everything you need to know to pass the quizzes so STUDY! the midterm and final are difficult but as long as you study you will be fine. The course is a lot of memorization TAKE HER!

Honestly I DREADED taking a Bio Lab class and held it off till the last minute but if you're taking a Bio Lab class, take Professor Hormann! She's literally so sweet and the best! Also be sure to take the pre quizzes and general quizzes, it'll help your grade! The only reason why I got a C is because I kept forgetting to take the quizzes.

Course is well organized, so I never had a reason to email the professor for clarification. The content is the same across all online BSC2086 sections. Discussions and homework assignments are easy and straightforward, but exams are pretty difficult.

She is a very kind professor! Only criticism I have is that I wish we did more review together in class because most of the class we were on our own. However, her PowerPoints and lab review guides are amazing. Just use the lab review guides to study from the PowerPoints and you'll be fine! Also take pictures of the models in class to study from.

Interactive assignments are graded by completion and are simple. The exams are hard and not very reflective of the slides given to study from, but the questions are the same regardless of which professor you take this course with. She gave weekly announcements which helped with staying on track.

Took Dr. H for 2085L. She was very organized. Told us to use practical review sheets to study for quizzes and practicals. Everything is identifying so practice spelling. She made us study packets for the midterm and final, had powerpoints for us to use. People complaining about a word bank need to stop, freaking study the review sheets.

Yes it is a lot of work and you need to take time on your own to fully understand the material but she lectures very well and explains the material to your understanding. Very nice professor, but be prepared to read and spend various amounts of hours doing homework.The test are a large portion of your grade so its important to study. She does allow you to use a note card on the test, if you want to pass stay on top of the schedule she provides and be sure to study for the test. if you do all of this you will pass.

As a non-bio major, this proffesor was so understanding and so nice, although the amount of assignments may seem intimidating they are easy to do, and she does give you second chances to get a higher grade. Do study for the tests but at the end of the semester there is a participation final test you can take if you want to bump your grade.

I am terrible at science and in high school I could barely get a B in my classes but with this professor she made the class easy to understand. The exams were also pretty easy! I also took her for biology lab which was a super easy class. There's a bit of work but all of the assignments are super easy and took me max one hour to do them.

This professor runs a very tough class packed with super heavy reading with no study guides. You must read entire chapters as anything can appear on the test. Quizzes are hard since you only have 15minutes to answer 30+ questions. But she's responsive to emails, handles issues well, and offers some extra credit to help boost your grade.
