Chem is a difficult subject. She didn't make it any easier. Whenever I needed help or had a question, she would either explain it poorly or not at all. Her exams are okay, just make sure you study the book! Sometimes she'll skip half a chapter but expect you to know it for the test. Seems like she PMSed 24/7. Sad face for suuuure.
Not only does she have a heavy accent, but her teaching stragedy ultimately sucks. She is so unprofessional, as in, she chews gum during her lectures. She's full of it sometimes...her class policies change according to her daily mood. You learn better off the book than attending her class. She seriously has PMS issues or something.
this class is easy to pass if you do the assigned book work and study lecture notes. she is always willing to help and is actually better at explaining the material one to one. take her if you really want to understand chemistry!
I recomment her strongly. She explains clearly and is very helpful. Take har if you actually want to learn chemistry.

She is good, very good
DOESN'T HELP STUDENTS
She thinks she is gods gift to quem students. She does favor guys and is reluctant to help girls. Dont take her if you want a good grade, her scoring is up to her conveniance. Bad aditude all the time.
Great teacher. If you study you will be fine. No she does not favor people the only reason why it seems like that is because only few actually seek her for help. Anyone who rates her bad def. fail her class cuz they were dumb and though she would pass them if they showed up for help at the last minute. Easy class not a hard grader.
Do not take her.Cares more about socializing than teaching. Will learn more about Chem by studying the book yourself. Disorganized.Favors students. Sit in her class one day & see for yourself. She said on 1st day of class "I don't care if president is dead, you still have to show up to class".
I dont know what other teachers or experience with college the good raters had "CUZ" her class is horrible. She is not helpful and has a bad attitude. Can't understand her with the accent. Take chem with someone else.
valverde is fun professor once you become friends with her. her lectures are not too clear, a lot of mistakes, so be prepared to help her correct them. despite the errors, her lectures are good and hard to fall asleep in. tests are decently difficult and graded. accent is noticeable but can be easily lived through even by an american born. recommen
She must be one of the best science professors I've had, she takes an active role at keeping students in her class, makes it extremely easy to learn, very clear and palatable. She is def passionate about the subject and about teaching. I'd recommend her for sure. Her exams are reasonable, her quizes chill.
Mrs Valverde is an exceptional teacher she is very helpful especially when you seek her help. Her accent is not an issue because in this campus we have a diversity of languages. She was one of the best teachers I had and I got an A. To take her class you need to have the willingness to learn. If you want to learn and prepare yourself for university
Makes too much mistake with theory and exercises. Lazy to make calculations and wont pay attention to your questions if she gets a text message. If you take her you must get help outside class. Don't expect and do not believe anything that she promises like make up quizes or extra credit. Anything thats extra work for her she will try to avoid it.
She is a good teacher. I can't deny her that. She has some good quizes and tests as well. The only thing that dissapointed me was her final.I looked like if it wasn't hers. Overall, she is fair instructor.
I didnt like the teacher at all!!! all she did was spend her lectures texting or eating and checking her phone. when someone would ask her a question she would put you on the spot and during lab she would ignore you and your questions becuase she was either too busy socializing or on her phone. i would not recomend this teacher.
TAKE ANOTHER TEACHER!! she is way too intimidating 2get extra help from and gives u dirty looks when u r late to class. she always flirts with the guys in class and takes off points on her labs for sig figs. beware!
Her tests are easy,,,just read the book the night before and you will bet an A. shes really cool..just dont be a dork and she will respect you
Seriously, does she write her own reviews here? She has a bad attitude. If she does not want to answer your question, she will turn away and mumble.
I took Valverde during the winter session, so class moved by quick. During this time, students are likely to need the most help understanding the material. However, she did not really help students who asked questions. Instead she put them on the spot, assumes you're already wrong or ignores you. I got an A, but I wouldn't recommend her.
she is a little sloppy and talks really fast. sometimes it's hard to understand. you definately need to study.
When asking valverde a question about chemistry she act like if you're suppose to know the material and say's you didnt GET IT! in her labs she will leave when she feels like it! She cuts through the chapters and expects you to get the material at her pace! talks to fast teaches to fast!!! has no patients!! basically do not take her class!!!!!
Fast passed class. Poor teaching skills. Take other class if you can.
She is rude and very unprofessional. She embarrasses you in front of the class. Hard to understand. She is continuously checking her phone and brings her kids to class. Take another instructor. Her lab manual sticks.
I would not recommend this instructor as she does not respect her students, is markedly inconsistent in her approach to teaching the material, gives exams that appear to be cut-and-paste "hack jobs" made up the night before or immediately prior to class (and she doesn't even bother to proofread them for obvious typos and ambiguous answer choices).
Find another professor to take this class with as you will find yourself wishing that you had. A very rude, unprofessional and unprepared professor who appears to cut-and-paste her exams together the night before or the day of the exam and doesn't even bother to proofread them for glaring typos, incomplete answer choices, and ambiguous questions.
I think professor Valverde is a good teacher. She gives you attitude if the questions you ask are seriously stupid i was even annoyed by them. You can tell she has an accent but its not bad. Her tests were easy and explains things well. Just read the book the night before and you should be good. Her lectures are fun and not easy to fall asleep in.
I went back to school to finish my pre reqs to apply for physician assistant program, having said that i already have A B.S degree and this "teacher" is by far the worst teacher in comparison to my professors at UCR.
Good professor, but I think can be too lenient sometimes. She is very knowledgeable in her field but lectures seem disorganized and many students had difficultly understanding them. Tests were good because it required students to know material well, but got progressively easier as more and more students began to fail...
Good professor! u learn a LOT!! she makes her lectures easy to understand! don't be scared to approach! if shez rude laugh it off, u must've asked a stupid question. She's very funny..trust me you won't be bored! take her! (=
i think this professor is totally unfair in adding students.
She can be intimidating but greatteacher. she is extremely knowledgable in her field she gives example one could relate to. she is very dedicated and helpful. she is a great teacher
The best I had in my college life. I do love chemistry because of her.
She is so helpful she could be intimidating. She makes her lectures fun she is really helpfull. You will learn guaranteed
This professor is such an egomaniac. Avoid her at all cost! Rude, tough and not helpful. Never challenge her contradict her or you will face the consequences.
AWFUL! My worst experience ever. Doesn't go by book, confusing and inc. lectures, no matter how much you study test questions are out of left field, is absent a lot, tells bff students what's on test but not to others, plays on her iphone in lab!! You'll be lucky to pass.
DON'T BELIEVE THE POSITIVE REVIEWS BELOW!! She writes them herself. Lazy, unprofessional, self-righteous, arrogant, inconsiderate. Take at your own risk.
I KNOW she favors people who are similar in her identity; except for the same gender as her. If you do not fit this profile, DO NOT expect to have a pleasant time in her presence or class. She will give you the grade she wants to give you. Very self-centered, she wants to make herself feel good @ the end by asking what you learned; I refused lolol.
she?s the worst professor at elac. don?t take her
I guess shes not a bed teacher, she has her werid ways of doing things, but sometimes it helps, passing that class with a C is not diffcult but trying to score higher is a little challenging the only thing i thought that was very unprofessional is leaving class for 30 mins then coming back and constantly texting and talking on her phone
Took for summer with no Chemistry background so subject was a challenge but Valverde made it easy to understand as long as I stood engaged in lecture. Though she is not perfect as no professor is, I do believe she is an advocate for the students. I would recommend committed students to take her for Chem 65.
She is very knowledgeable in her subject however she is not very good at teaching it to others. She is always late and always texting on her phone. She ends class early & did not have office hours for the summer. She only helps students who she likes & puts people on the spot. I suggest that you dnt take her especially in summer she goes very fast
She doesn't use a book and makes her own notes for lecture. I wouldn't mind that but she's super disorganized and goes off tangents. Rudely uses her cell phone in class a lot, favors guys more htan girls, and will be condescending if you try to correct her mistakes. Bottom line: she cannot teach!
She is a good teacher a good teacher! yea she use her phone and pick on people but she a good teacher!
Easily one of the worst professors I've ever had. Tests are irrelevant to what she lectures. Snappy, intimidating, and definitely unapproachable. She knows her stuff, but is extremely lazy. Avoid.
She's far from being my favorite person in the world but she's a pretty good chemistry professor and she's really funny. Her lectures are clear, organized and thorough. How she runs her lab, on the other hand, is a whole other thing. :( I like her overall and she teaches really well.
its hard to rate her, shes not a good teacher, leaving many unanswered questions but at the same time she really goes out her way to try to help her students. she held review sessions on the weekends to help her students out. but she cannot really teach that well and is harsh on grading. i would not recommend her but its not the end of the world
I got straight A. Class is easy if you have read the textbook. Never mandatory attendance.Does not cover many important points.
Ms. valverde is a great teacher,,she can be intimidating at firt but once you get to know her she is really cool. She helps and cares about her students alot. She goes way out of her way to help students pass class. Even on her days off she holds sessions to help out her students
Great professor that cares about her students.
Great teacher. She definitely goes past her limit to help the students understand. Just pay attention, take efficient notes, and study. Go to her extra study sessions if you can. She's got quite the humor so attending class isn't a bore. :)
this professor I can tell has a good heart, but she is a bad teacher or she doesn't care anymore. she may have been good at one point. always seems to have something else going on. whatever it is, she no longer cares about her students.
Valverde seems intimidating at first but she is very helpful. She holds study sessions on her days off and makes sure that every student understands the subject. She also gives many opportunities to catch up for anyone that falls behind.
currently taking this professor. she is very knowledgeable in her field but she does not know how to teach. There's a difference in lecturing and teaching. She lectures and expects you to understand because she "did a good job in teaching." i dont think so when more than half of the class are failing her tests.
Do not take this professor. Her grading scale is really bad. In the exams or quizes, she expects you to answer the questions excatly as she tells you; other wise, she will not give you any points for that questions. Bad teaching. More than HALF of the students in her class fail her exams. always picky about the lab reports. Taking her= INSTA FAIL
She is a good professor, however, too many students think that good professor should be easy, which is wrong. Her education is very helpful for the science students because she provides a lot of extra skills for their futures.
I agree with most of the posts. She is very knowledgeable in this field but she does NOT know how to teach. She explains it once, and if you do not understand it, she accuses you of not paying attention to her lecture. She has no patience for questions, whether its in class or during her office hours.
Mrs. Valverde is an not a very good chemistry professor. I recommend reading the book and outlining each chapter. You won't get much out of her lectures; they are disorganized. She is easily inspired so be ready for anything! However, if you study on your own and master the practice problems you'll be fine.
Worst Chem professor at ELAC. She clearly doesn't care about anything other than getting her check. She's rude, and her exams have close to nothing on the little she teaches. I wouldn't be surprised if she wrote the only good comments left here because they are not in any bit true. She's just awful, and I'm not sorry to say it.
The professor was very harsh and sets up a very difficult class environment. She tends to be unfair to those who struggles in class and her lectures weren't clear enough. Her tests have very little to do with her lectures. She is very strict in almost every level but under the difficult environment comes understanding of the subject.
First day of class she is late already Wah wah.
Yes she is very hard grader, but explains from the beggining what she expects from students. She is hard but she wants to prepare you for chem 101. You need to work hard to get a good grade if u dont, dont expect a good grade period. Study and you will be fine. Her lectures were clear.
She needs to go along with whomever hired her because they clearly have no idea what they're doing! What kind of professor talks to her students the way she does? No one has been more cynical, and more tyrannical than her. She is nothing better than the worst professor in the history of EVER! DO NOT BY ANY MEANS TAKE HER CLASS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Extremely difficult
She is a very helpful professor if you are a good student. Don't expect her to babysit you. She explains her expectations from day one. If you know your math she will help you, otherwise she will be frustrated with you and won't help. She is strict but does whatever she can to help her students. Her test a bit hard and tricky go with your instinct.
I personally did not like this teacher and I decided to take chemistry during my last semester at ELAC not only did I not pass the class, nor got IGETC certified , or was able to get my AA degree in social science this teacher ruin my academic plan. She was rude and not helpful
Most people thing Professor Valverde should be avoided due to the rigor of the course. However I think after taking her class, that she is willing to help the student in any way to help them succeed in the course. Most people are scared off because of her personality and being strict. If you meet her expectations you can get any grade you want.
I could see why she has bad reviews but regardless of that she is really helpful and does cares for her students. She is willing to stay after class and help you, she offers study groups, and tutoring. She has a fair grading scale. When you are struggling don't be afraid to ask for help because that's just going to hurt you later on.
I survived Chem 101 with her lol. I she is scary to approach at first but she is helpful and willing to help you. Her class is fun and she's funny herself. If you plan on taking her study! She gives you a study guide for the test and study from that and memorize/ learn the conversion and formulas.
Yes she is not easy she makes you work for your grade, Show all your work she gives partial credit even though your final answer was not correct ( but make sure to use the right formulas/ conversions. Go to her office hours if you can be there everyday I guarantee you would pass her class.
She does cares about her students and is willing to help you. One good thing is that she's willing to answer questions and replies to email really fast.
Attendance is mandatory, you will not pass if you don't show up. Lectures are long, but not relative to tests. Tests are not in relation to content covered in her lectures. Would not be surprised if she got her tests off the internet. Study guides are useless, don't cover what will be on the test.
Professor Valverde is the best chemistry professor there is out of the whole chemistry department because she is the only professor that wants you to actually learn and pass the class. She is the only teacher that actually teaches the lecture and makes sure that you are crystal clear with the material. i recommend her if you like to learn a lot.
I'm not good at math or chemistry so this was hard. I personally did not like her class when she would write in the board she would erase it really fast. She tends to put you in the spot. A lot of memorization and math
Not approachable, rude, give students an attitude for no reason, very condescending, thinks she's always right, has mood swings, spends time on social media when she should be answering student's questions, lectures off the book but won't spend time on too much detail (you have to self teach), tests don't reflect lecture, will put you on the spot.
I have taken her for 2 classes and loved both. She is a tough grader who might come off a little intimidating but she is willing to help students. All she really asks for is for students to TRY but many do not like this. I struggle in Chemistry but she helped me so much!she's a lot friendly than many think. would have taken her for 102 if I could!
Valverde is really a great professor her teaching style is unique and hardcore old school. Although, I did not pass her class I actually learned a lot. She is extremely hard but will give you opportunities to pass. She is funny!
She is the type of professor you could either really love or really hate. She's a tough one, she can seem very disorganized and blunt but she's actually very logical objective, and straightforward. Just don't take anything she says personally, do your work well, be prepared. She has a very unique but effective way of lecturing.
Mandatory office hours. :(
WILL PUT YOU ON THE SPOT. NO OFFICE HOURS IN SUMMER.
Valverde is one of the best professors in this department. Don't believe many of the negative things people have said about her. True, she's tough BUT she is passionate about Chemistry. She wants the students to truly understand and learn the subject which is why she will add you until you understand. Ask questions and participate! She is awesome!!
Best chemistry prof at Elac. She actually cares and goes out of her way to make sure you learn. I learned so much . It is nice to know someone does care for the students . Will take her again and again .
I am scared of her personality. she is mean and rude.
she is a tough. Mandatory office hour is always needed. NOT RECOMMEND!
Professor Valverde is amazing. She cares about her students and if you just give her a chance and actually ask for help during office hours, she will go above and beyond to help you and advice you. She is very inspirational. Do your part and she will do hers. She is only intimidating because she is very honest and calls on you so you will learn.
This professor is totally awesome! She is very helpful and is very caring toward her students! As long as you go over your notes and do the practice she assigns you will be fine! She calls on you to make sure you are learning! If you do not understand something she will go over it until you do! She is just wonderful!!
does like one example from each topic she teaches which is NOT enough bc her tests are so long and hard! she doesnt let you take notes in class bc she wants you to pay attention. she threw a lab report, 10 min oral presentation, an exam, and final all on us in 2 weeks all bc she fell behind and was so disorganized. if youre not a chem maj dont take
It's true that professor Valverde is tough on her students, however, she is passionate about chemistry and will go out of her way to make sure her students are learning. She puts a lot of focus on students who are struggling but by the end of the semester they ace their exams. If you are going to take her class, be prepared to work!
She cares about her students and wants them to do good in class but she calls on people and will put them on the spot. Even when they don't know she'll keep them on the spot. She has favoritism so if you talk to her a lot she will most likely give you a better grade. I think she grades based on what she things you deserve instead of actual grades
Not approachable, rude, give students an attitude for no reason, very condescending, thinks she's always right, has mood swings, spends time on social media when she should be answering student's questions, lectures off the book but won't spend time on too much detail (you have to self teach), tests don't reflect lecture, will put you on the spot
show too much attitude, have you to solve problems in her way, which is rigid for science classes. arranges all the tables in a circle, not necessary for college students. too proud of her limited knowledge on chemistry. you will pass her class depend on whether you like her personality, otherwise, you will suffer.
im not even a student in her class but the experiences my classmates have had with her is disappointing. you would think a latina woman in the sciences would be an idol to the raza and be an example of si se pudo!! but her ego is that of anyother hispanic family member who thinks they are the ish. she comments in spanish of her speaking ish .
Everyone saying that Professor V was a bad teacher is a student who expects to get an A just for showing up. You REALLY have to work for this class and she will help you as much as she possibly can. She's very passionate about chemistry/very helpful. Loved her class and wish I could take her again. It's rare to find teachers that actually care.
Be weary, you will end up with a lot more questions than answers.
I am currently taking her for her Intro to Chem class for a summer term. Despite popular belief, she is very clear & patient in explaining very abstract concepts. I have had taken a chemistry class before at a 4 year & she is very clear and fair. Students who can't handle this level of slow & clear teaching are in for a rude awakening upon transfer
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible professor. I rather drag my body across shards of glass than taking her again. Everyone in my zoom meeting thinks she's the worst professor we've ever taken. She's rude, disrespectful, condescending, does not know how to teach. Has very limited chemistry knowledge is always making mistakes. She humiliates you. Horrrible
Currently taking this course with Professor Valverde and hating Chemistry because of it. She has a "my way or the high way" type of teaching, so if you're like me and not understanding what the hell she is saying, youtube is your best friend. She also does not proofread her work before submitting. Attitude when challenged, just a heads up.
Everyone's RIGHT! She IS tough! Depends how confident/comfortable u r w/Chem. If u r more-novice, like me, it WILL BE challenging. She HAS high expectations, goes more in-depth than the avg. & grades TOUGH. BUT, she's helpful/accessible & CARING (+sassy). This forces u to REALLY get the material. YOU WILL LEARN--100%. Only, lower odds getting an A.
Chemistry on its own is a challenging subject, so it's important to show up and pay attention to grasp the concepts. Professor Valverde is an awesome professor because she thoroughly explains all of the coursework in layman's terms. If you are struggling, go to her office hours. She is always willing to help and breakdown the material.
Honestly just don't do it. Grades really heavily. Miss any assignments? Pretty much going to rub it in your face and just know you will not pass or end up with a C. She will give you the biggest attitude. She will never admit to wrong. Please just don't.
Her way of teaching makes students fall asleep. Forces students to open their webcam at all times. She expects students to answer right away in milliseconds and gets angry easily when the answers are wrong. Claims that she never makes mistakes when she always makes multiple mistakes when creating exams. Loves to waste 5 hours of your time.
More issues than these but not enough characters allowed to detail everything: No textbook assigned nor lecture slides provided Everything (yes, everything) she publishes has errors, including chemistry errors Will say point blank during virtual lab that she will NOT answer any questions Doesnt make grades available in Canvas
Professor Valverde is by far the worst "teacher" at ELAC. Super disorganized in class, and never replies to any emails. Every homework assignment she makes has countless errors, so you're constantly getting points off for no reason. Ridicules students for asking questions in lectures. Please save yourself the mental strain and take someone else.
Will not work around anyone's schedule and is often rude to students that ask for help. I don't recommend this Professor to anyone with a busy schedule, as any interference with her designated times will have their grades suffer.
Overall, I would describe her as very unorganized, acts on emotion, and makes countless mistakes on her test/assignments. She encourages questions, however, she makes the student feel ridiculed in front of the entire class for asking. Unfortunately, you are not able to view your grades because she locks the assignments and makes everything a quiz.
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT take any classes with Professor Valverde. While at first, she will encourage you to come to office hours for help, she actually doesn't help at all. She disrespects students in front of their peers during lectures at times. She doesn't care about how her words and actions affect her students.
She means well, but is very , very unorganized as a professor. She didnt have syllabus ready on first day, and when she did it was wrong. She gives quizzes that she dont allow u to see where you may have got some wrong and its difficult because she doesnt know the correct answer as well. She decides things from emotions. Just go the other way!
Took a summer chemistry 101 course. There is a-lot of work but if you watch the lecture videos you should do well, especially because you can rewatch them. She has a few grammar errors at times that sometimes affect your grade because of canvas but if you email her, she will adjust it. There is a-lot of self-teaching. Power through it.
Awful, disrespectful, unprofessional professor. I dont know who she earned the title professor. Worst human being I have ever met in my entire life. She is incredibly condescending and ridicules her students. Has errors on every assignment and is incredibly disorganized. She will make you hate chemistry. Do not take her. Do not. Do urself a favor.
Very mean Professor, she really dont care about you, she will have many mistakes in the questions but youll get 0 even tough it wasnt your fault. I have had very hard Professors but she only doesnt want you to pass.
I took this course during the winter so it was pretty fast-paced. A lot of her lecture material didn't make sense, so it is a VERY self-taught class. Just be on top of things and you will pass this class.
I would take her again and again . She will motivate me and my friends. She will answer to all you emails immediately. You can tell she cares and she goes out of her way . She will help you until the end . I will recommend her to all my friends . I never understood chemistry until I took her, now I actually love chem
I took her class spring 2022 . Best class I have ever taken . If she was teaching the next chem class I will take it at Elac. Learned a lot . When class ended I was actually sad .
I don't take this professor with Miss V because she teaches everything for her lecture and lab so fast that you miss something for your lecture videos and lab of a lot of paragraph with the lab papers in-person, but her lab won't make up again for her class of chemistry 101.
Best chemistry professor ever . I hate missing class. She is amazing and supper caring
Amazing lecture videos . She made me love chemistry. Best professor at ELAC
Expects students to a standard that she does not meet herself. Will tell you one thing and will do another. Lots and I mean LOTS of mistakes on tests and quizzes that the student will somehow still pay for. You will be graded for absolutely everything because it is all a quiz.every single class meeting will consist of some form of quiz.
Best Chemistry Professor ever . I actually love chemistry. She truly cares. Love her . If you want to learn and enjoy the process take Professor V.
The recent positive reviews on this site were most likely left by Professor Valverde herself. Please be cautious when taking her, she is condescending and rude to students that want/need help. I have had many wonderful chemistry professors at ELAC but she is by far one of the most difficult teachers to deal with, emotionally and academically.
First things first about Professor Valverde's and Chem 101. I think she is actually a good teacher and I am basing this off of lecture and lab hours. Be prepared to second guess your homework answers because has many of what I feel are "trick questions". The only problem I have with it, is that the homeworks are worth a lot.
Professor Valverde is HILARIOUS and very supportive of her students! Take her and you will be confident in all fundamental chemistry concepts. Do not miss class because a large percent of your grade is class work. Be prepared to work! Be prepared to have fun! Highly recommend!
Awful! Rude and would yell at you if you ask her dump questions or 1 minute late in class. So many errors in tests and training sessions! Don't use ipad to take notes. She expects you to be as old schooled as she is. Don't risk yourself, folks!
Nice professor! Everything is organized. Class is relatively easy. Taking good notes for each video lecture is VERY IMPORTANT. Otherwise, you will fail this class. Also, be careful about the significant figures.
She teaches concepts really good but her training sessions can be difficult. She tries her best to help everyone. Study hard and take very good notes on her videos.I recommend her if you have the energy and are not drained or worn out. It takes a lot of work to pass this class with a good grade.
Professor Valverde is an excellent teacher. I was never good with science but she helped me understand the basics and taught the class as if no one had ever learned from their prerequisites. She sets the class time so you can practice and will work with you if you need help. I definitely would've gotten a higher grade if I studied more.
Just terrible. Incredibly condescending and borderline manipulative. Everything in class was some sort of graded exam. Inconveniently puts her class in a circle and gets angry if other students consult with each other. Heavily relies on her online lectures on canvas and gets frustrated teaching in person. Take at your own risk
TERRIBLE. do not take this class. tends to favor the guys over the girls. will pick on the girls very often. very unorganized. will do things on how she is feeling. does not even follow her own policy. just DO NOT take her unless you're willing to suck it up for a few months. I don't normally write a reviews on anyone but I had too with her.
Wouldn't recommend unless it's your last option. The homework is actually her lecture videos from a couple of years ago and when the actual lecture time comes around, she expects you to be a pro at the topics that she went over in the videos. If you ask for help in class, she will out you and make a scene. She tends to favor guys as well.
People are lazy and don't want to take the time to do the work. However, prof's lectures are lengthy and inconsistent but generally do a good job of explaining the concepts. She can be moody and it's scary but just ignore her and do what you need to do to get out of class and get it over with. Good thing is you won't need a textbook.
Prof can be moody, but lectures cover concepts well. No textbook needed - just watch the videos and practice. Unstuck study AI helped me prepare for tests.
I wish i would have read her reviews before taking her class. She gives you multiple lecture videos per week and each lecture comes with a quiz. ALL quizzes are misspelled. She doesn't proof read her own work. It throws your grade off by a lot and She doesn't answer any emails. Even for clarification.
You have to use her approximations to get the EXACT sigfig you need—otherwise it will be marked wrong. Lots of errors/typos. Content was fine, says you should take good notes but you don't need to write down everything she says. Just know how to do calculations and exceptions. Had to email her constantly to fix her mistakes. Many were hand graded.
TERRIBLE. i'm still taking her hybrid class rn and she is so difficult. Sometimes she doesn't even abide by her own policies. There's multiple assignments a week but it's do able. I wouldn't recommend taking another science class if u take her. But if u do, only take 1 other science class.
I have never rated professors but this one was so atrocious that I had to put in a review. She is condescending and humiliates you in front of other students even if you have a genuine question on a topic. There are constant errors in the assignments that she does not fix, so students have to take the grade that is received.
Most of the time, the quizzes and tests do not reflect the lecture videos. Self-studying through different sources such as YouTube and Khan Academy were much more useful and made me learn a lot more in comparison to her. Do not take this class even if you need it for credit....take it at a different community college instead.
Take absolutely anyone other than this professor. Constant errors in the lecture videos AND EXAMS, constant typos in the material. Accent is sometimes difficult to understand and has a philosophy of "you either get it or you don't". The workload is very heavy, with multiple assignments with quizzes attached. I can't stress enough, don't do it!
She is so good and she is always available to help you . I am takiing her again.
I learned a lot while having fun . Best online prof
If you want to learn take her. Ive taken Chemistry at Elac before and did not learn anything by my cousin took her and recommended her to me and now my brother is taken her . She is always there to help you, she even meets you on zoom during the weekends if you need her. I wish she was teaching chem 102 during the summer , i will take her again.
Avoid her class if you can! She's very picky and grades tough when it comes to labs. If you try asking her or your classmates for help, she gets upset and tells you to figure it out on your own. The only good thing about her is that she will take Zoom calls during the weekend before an exam.
