Best sense of humor I've ever seen in a chemistry professor. She's great.
great teacher helped us out on test and in lab. She will work with you to understand the material. Make sure you do the homework its a big part of the grade accents a bit strong but she is understnle
Great teacher.Explains labs and lectures well.Approachable. Definitely recommend
she is the best teacher, friendly and very cooperative.
HELPS YOU ON THE TEST & WITH HOMEWORK. WANTS YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. BEST CHEM PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
best teacher ever
Very helpful and clear.Ask her and she'll break it down for you.
The class is hard, but thats the material, not her. She truly has a passion for her career and helping students. She is so cute and sweet! She will help you, you just need to try. (Form study groups with others in the class, it helps immensly!)
She's the best chem teacher. The material is hard, but she really wants people to understand. Will bend over backwards for you if you ask for help. Plus, she's sooo smart..really knows her subject matter.
She is the best professor I've ever had. I've never had a professor who cares so much about students' success as she does. Show your effort and interest in the material and your academic success and she will be more than happy to help!! Don't be fooled though... the material itself IS HARD!!!
Great prof! Like others have said, the material is hard but she really wants you to understand it.
She knows her stuff! Like everyone says, the material is hard, but she will ALWAYS help you. She cared more about her student's success than some students did! Really clear and helpful, very strongly recomended for a chem professor.
I took CHM 111/112 with her. She know how to make chemistry easy and enjoyable. She always there to help you. She stays after class. She wants all her students to pass with good grades. Her tests are not multiple choice. She gives lots of hints during the test. You can ask so many questions and she always answer all of them.
I didnt like her. In my opinion, she mumbles, which made it hard for me to pay attention. She is also extremely subjective about grading. If you do take her, getting a good grade would require serious legwork and overkilling for the tests.
THE BEST TEACHER EVER. SHE REALLY HELPS AND IS EASY GOING. NO HOMEWORK AND VERY KIND.
Very organized, very thorough teacher. However, I do not recommend taking this class in the summer if you can avoid it; it's way too much to learn in a very short period of time.
Her tests are not simple, but she'll help you ON THE TEST. you have to study and attend her classes.Enjoyed her class very much. I highly recommend her, but she's not an easy A
Favorite prof at NVCC (like everyone else apparently). Great professor, very informative. Shes not a pushover type professor (ie: easy A) but her teaching will give a great shot at an A. In organic chemistry her students had a noticeable advantage due to their much better foundation in inorganic. Hard material but she makes it enjoyable.
I loved chemistry with professor krishnan. Its an easy class if you do your work.
she is a really good professor. Her lab procedures are VERY CLEAR :) If you don't understand anything on her lectures, just meet her in the office and she will help you till you understand it. TRUST ME.. she is good. DO your work and go to her office for help. BE responsible!
Professor Krishnan is a very knowlegable professor. She is very kind and helpful. Her Chm 111 class was easy but Chm 112 is very hard. Make sure you do all the worksheets and practice problems she gives you- know it all and UNDERSTAND it by heart to do well on her tests. You shouldn't get anything less than a B if you do all your work and study.
she is very caring. She wants her students to do well. Chem 112 is a hard class but if you do all worksheets and hw and understand how to do all the problems then you are good to go. Make sure you do all your practice problems and understand it.
she is very caring. She wants her students to do well. Chem 112 is a hard class but if you do all worksheets and hw and understand how to do all the problems then you are good to go. Make sure you do all your practice problems and understand it.
She is wonderful!! She is very thorough and clear. Her Indian accent makes her fun to listen to!
Great teacher. Tries to make things very clear and usually succeeds. If you dont understand something in her class though, keep asking until u get it cause if u come in the next day and she tries to do something new and u dont remember the old stuff... she will ridicule u lol other wise fantastic and higly higly recommended
Dr. Krisnan is a fantastic teacher...probably the best I've had. She's extremely helpful and will answer all your questions (even during exams!) as long as you take the time to ask. The material is tough however she's very clear with it and really wants you to do well. She cares about her students and that's a rarity these days.
Mrs.Krishnan is a very helpful teacher. She can be somewhat rude when she is in a bad mood. Always do the problems in the book. Always do well in your labs. Always be prepared because she will take points. Show your work on the tests at all times.
I took CHM 111 and 112 with Professor Krishnan. She is an AMAZING Teacher. She is just an infinite source of knowledge...I don't think there is a thing in the world this lady doesn't know. She will always answer questions patiently and work with you till you get it right. Do the practice problems over and over till you know it by heart. I love her!
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had! She is more than willing to help you if you don't understand. Take advantage of her office hours too...sometimes it's much easier to understand when she's explaining it to you one on one. Do your homework...that is a must to understanding the class!
Dr. Krishnan is an excellent professor, and perfectly suited for teaching chemistry. Her lectures and board notes are phenomenal. I had a 4 year gap between Chem 1 and Chem 2 (took 1 with Dr. Krishnan and 2 at UVA), and I pulled out my old notes from her class, reviewed them over a weekend, and was up to speed. I highly recommend her.
Best chemistry teacher at NVCC!
THE BEST CHEM TEACHER EVER
She is very helpful ,she cares a lot about her students . She always answers your questions .
Dr. Krishnan is an AWESOME teacher. She cares about her students more than any other professor I've had and she wants you to do well. This is a tough course however she knows her stuff and is there with you every step of the way. Pay attention, don't slack, and do the homework and you'll be fine. Overall one of my favourite teachers. :)
This teacher is really nice and takes extra time to help but if you are not up to par on your math skills/feel comfortable with chem do not take the hybrid class. It is very fast paced and you will be lost! I withdrawed so it did not ruin my 4.0.
She is AMAZING, take her! She is very patient and takes the time for her student to understand the material. Now it's not an easy A but it's not impossible. If you have a hard time understanding the material she is willing to help during her office hours. Her exams are fair not easy but study and you should not get a grade lower than a B.
Do you want to say "I learned at lots from chemistry at the end of the semester"? Do you really want to learn something that would benefit you in the future and be proud of yourself? Are you willing to give up little of your time studying? If you answer yes to all of the questions above then you are ready to learn science. She encourages you to rea
Really good professor! Helps students when material is not understandable. Well sit down with one on one to go over material. Well also help you during test. Highly recommend.
One BEST teacher I ever had. I wish she could teach CHM 102 as well, unfortunately she's not. She is very helpful and encourages you to see her one-on-one if you don't understand anything. Labs are must, help with your grade level. She even helps during exams, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
She's really good professor in chemistry. Very patient to make you understand clearly hard problems, and always helps you in lab (sometimes she does all the things for you, your only work is to record data to write reports). She has a little accent but it's not hard to follow her lecture. But you need to work so hard to get A. Strongly recommamded.
Chem 112 is very difficult but I couldn't have asked for a better professor. She really wants you to do well and offers so much help, even on the tests. Attendance is mandatory only because so much material is covered. If you're a slacker, do not take this class, but if you really want to learn and want someone to help you learn take her class.
I loved her class! She made chemistry so interesting and understandable. Her tests are not very difficult and she gives extra credit too. She has a great personality and I highly recommend her to anyone. I wish I had her for all my chemistry classes.
Great professor, very nice and friendly. Made Chemistry not as intimidating and hard. Tests are reasonable and have extra credit. Love her class!
Tests pretty hard-multiple choice and write in. Online HW required. Some typed lab reports required. DON'T NEED A TXTBOOK! She's somewhat understandable even with her accent, she talks pretty fast and writes a lot and erases right after. Overall okay teacher, not the best.
I was really disappointed with this class. She is very smart and knowledgeable, and I like her as a person. But this is the only Chemistry class I will ever take, so I would have liked it to be useful. Instead, she just gave us Math word problems, Math word problems, and more Math word problems. I won't remember anything that I can use...
AWESOME!she is very helpful. she makes chemistry easy. she answers question during exam. if you are struggling just go to her during office hours and she will help you.the labs were easy and clear. she is the BEST chemistry professor at NOVA! take her and you will be happy.
This class seemed easy until it was time for the tests. She knows the material really well, so she goes pretty fast, tells you it is simple and doesn't review very much. So read the book! It is a LOT of algebra all the time.
She was a great teacher, I recommend her highly. She is very easy to understand even with her accent and really knows the material so can explain it thoroughly. The labs are easy, and the lectures were quick and easy. Her tests were not hard if you know the material, and she offers extra credit.
Very helpful. Its chemistry so its gonna be one of the harder courses but she tries her best to make it understandable and is extremely easy to get in touch with through email or office hours.
Professor Krishnan is the most wonderful lady I've ever had the pleasure to meet. She was a great mentor, and really helped me learn the subject. Be warned that this is not an easy subject, so study do the work and you will succeed.
Best Science prof at Nova hands down! She CARES about your success. ASK QUESTIONS and she WILL answer them! Gives quizzes and study guides to everything!HW was online on Pearson Lab. You can tell she loves chemistry and the fun labs lasted an hour or so - ALWAYS got out early. Gives Extra credit all the time. Passed with a 4.0 in her class :D
LOVE HER!!! She is very nice and cares about her students! Lectures are very clear and easy to understand! She does give out extra credits for exams plus practice problems as well! Highly recommended for anyone who needs to take chemistry!
Just finished taking Chemistry 101 with Mrs. Krishnan. She's a good teacher, and is very helpful to her students. I went in with some knowledge of chemistry already, but she helped to flesh it out. So long as you stay on top of the homework and labs, the class should be easy enough.
Prof, Krishnan is the best for chemistry. She explains very well and you actually get it.She has 5 exams and one final. every chapter has 1 assignment, 1 quiz and extra credit work. there are total 10chapter n final is cumulative. its a lot of work but its worth it. if u really want to learn i highly recommend her. so happy to take CHM112 with her
She knows her material well, but the subject was not my strong suit. I would do well on the tests and homework, but do terribly on the tests. Always make sure you do your work. She is willing to give you extra help and explain things outside of class.
She will help you with no complaints and is a very nice lady. Has an Indian accent, but you can get past it. There are four tests (hard-apx. 50% of grade) lowest is dropped, online work(apx. 25%), and lab(25%). This class is challenging, but this is a science class. You would need to go to another campus to get an easy A.
Dr. Krishnan is just awesome. Very clear lectures, and if you don't understand she will definitely help. She is incredibly helpful, specially during exams! I would recommend her to anyone. She cares about her students and I think that is what makes her a great professor.
She is one the best chemistry professors there is. She is more than willing to help and when she says go to her office hours for extra help go! . Chemistry over all isn't the easiest but it's possible to pass. Just make sure to practice the problem sets she posts up and the tests shouldn't be so hard.
I took Chem 111 3 times with 3 different profrs, & she was the best! She lives and breathes CHEM! She doesn't want people to fail she gives you many chances to make up work or to redo something, but you have to talk to her. You must go to her office hours. I started to at the end and if i would have gone in the beginning I would have got a B+ or A
Gosh this woman is amazing!!!! SHE REALLY CARES ABOUT HER STUDENTS AND WANTS THEM TO DO WELL! I've learned so much from her class and I ask a lot of questions in class and she answers them all respectfully and is willing to help as much as possible. I passed both of her chemistry classes with an A because of how great she is!
She was the best teacher ever. She is willing to help anybody until they understand it. Her class is very easy if you study for her tests and she gives extra credit for each exam. I am taking her CHM 112 class because she is that amazing.
teacher is helpful no denying that she expects u to know the info beforehand tho, teaches one type of problem in class and expect 5 different types on the exam. get ready to teach yourself cuz she only teaches the main idea also giving students a midterm a week before finals is not a midterm the workload giving is insane with 11 hw before final
She is an amazing teacher. whenever I didn't understand something she was always there to help. Here tests are OK but they become more easy if you do the practice problems that she posts. Don't ever feel shy to ask her a question. Also missing a lecture could cause some problems.
I took her class in the spring and she was fantastic. She made me love chemistry. She gives extra credit opportunities and helps you to understand some of the difficult topics. Make good use of her office hours and don't be afraid to ask her questions in class. She is very helpful and interesting. Take her for Chm 111 &112.
If you want to actually learn chemistry and enjoy the process, take her. She explains everything so clearly. Do the practice problems she posts and go to her office hours if you have questions- you'll be prepared for the exams. She's always willing to help if you're willing to make the effort. Love her!
Professor Krishnan is literally a great teacher. She is willing to help you and work with you but you need to meet her half way. I have always disliked chemistry but since it's mandatory, i've been choosing her. It's a lot of studying and work but if you need this class then take her and don't wine. Try your hardest and I promise you will pass.
AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! Dr. Krishnan is literally one of the best professors I've ever had. She has a way of teaching in which everyone will understand. She makes you work for your grade, but she does not stop helping you until you understand. Her ultimate goal is to make sure you understand and pass. I looked forward to her class every week.
Teacher is helpful no denying that but she expects u to know everything before hand. She just teaches the main concept, not how to get there. Also she does not post grades until the end of the semester, therefore you don't know where you stand in the class until the end!
She is a very very nice lady, does everything she can to help her students. She does have a tendency have talking fast so it did make it hard to keep up sometimes. Make sure to review to material ahead of time. I could of gotten an A but slacked off in the beginning. take advantage of her office hours, no emails. great professor but be prepared!
You're graded on tests, homework, and quizzes for the lecture portion. Lectures are pretty easy to follow, if not she always asks if anyone has a question. She gives you an opportunity for extra credit for every single test, including the final, which is comprehensive. The class is kind of easy, just make sure you really listen.
Professor Krishnan is caring and wants you to do well. She makes the material easy and makes sure you understand it. Her homework is all online, the labs she basically does for you, and her tests are based on her powerpoint. She even helps you during exams.
she might be good but she only teaches concept not how to get there. if class doesn't speak about a problem she won't go over it. over all be ready to have a stressful semester
She barely makes you understand the concept
She is the worst professor you can take please do not ruin your GPA take it in other campuses but not Woodbridge especially with Vasanthi Krishnan
save your time and money! she is good in her ways of teaching but doesn't make her students understand the concept. I did every bit of homework and her grading policy is crazy. she says show me steps and earn points but its the opposite, you write down the steps she takes points off. she never really makes a study guides save ur time and money.
she will make your life hard, save your time and don't ruin your GPA. I already regret taking this teacher.
she is the worst professor ever
it was way to hard
Basically the other 5 review below is how she is. Don't be fooled by the other reviews. This was my most stressful semester even though I only have 2 classes. I did everything I could, But the exams are way too hard and it's different from the examples she provided/ we practiced. Just the thought of having 4 exams + a final alone is crazy.
The teacher is very kind. She offers extra credit for every test with simple, in-class questions. Tests closely match the homework and practice problems, and labs can be easily finished in class(+ pre-lab).There's only one formal lab write-up with no graph or statistics. The final exam is multiple-choice allowing us to replace a previous exam score.
Chemistry is a pretty hard subject overall but if you wanna have a good chance of passing you should take this teacher. She cares about making sure everyone does well. She will accept labs if they are a bit late. If you do the homework and do well on the test and study you should be more than fine. She is a great teacher can't recommend enough.
She's a very nice professor. I took her for Fall 2024 and was kind of scared of the rating. But once you get to know her and take her classes, she's actually really good. Also, all her tests were multiple choice for the first part of the test, and the second part was 4 problem-solving problems. Her final was also ALL multiple choice.
I really enjoyed this course! Professor Krishnan is kind and approachable outside of class. She encourages students to attend office hours if they need help. We had quizzes every other week or sometimes back to back, but they were all multiple choice and fairly easy. As long as you take notes and stay on top of your homework, you'll do well!
I took her Chem 111 and 112, both were hard classes but she really wanted everyone to succeed. Do not take this class if you are not going to be serious about it. It is filled with hard concepts especially if you did not take AP Chem or do not like chem. She is extremely helpful and will practice with the class and one on one. Great professor!!!!!!
The bad reviews from 2019 has to be from the same bitter person.. Chemistry IS hard. However, Professor Krishnan is the best professor teaching CHM111&112. Compare to others, she CARES about her students and their success. If the whole class fails a test, she will do review and offer extra credit until it is locked in. Take her you won't regret it!
Teacher is very caring. Has great infectious passion for chemistry. She is very helpful as well. Go to office hours, show that you care, and she will help you.
Lectures are so insanely boring and she kind sucks at giving them. Quiz based on lecture every now and then but your made aware in advance.Exams are hard ngl but doable. If you mess up bad in lab you do get yelled at by her so keep that in mind. lab are whatever. i would take her because you dont have to show up to lecture and shes kinda merciful.
