Wonderful professor, 5 exams worth 100 points, 3 quizzes worth 25 points, ACS final worth 200 points and numerous extra credit. At first he wasnt giving enough time on the first two quizzes to thoroughly solve all the math questions but ALL the exams were about 15-16 questions, VERY EASY and timed. Would take again in a heart beat
Dr. Anagnostopoulos is very kind and very efficient at teaching. His powerpoints contain all the information you need to succeed at his tests. You have to make sure you understand the concepts before taking tests, but the tests are extremely fair with what is taught in class. He cares deeply about the students and is always there to help out.
He is such a dad! He cares about his students like they're his kids and cracks jokes during lectures that make him fun. His exams aren't too hard, but aren't a breeze either. Overall he's very fair and enjoyable even if you don't like chemistry but have to take it (like myself)!
Dr. A responds to emails very quickly and actually answers questions in full. He also offers plenty of extra credit, it might not be in the syllabus, but he definitely does. Just take Dr. A, you'll learn and not slave over a textbook. You do earn your grade, though, make no mistake. Also, you need a 95 for an A as of Fall 2018.
Every chapter was accompanied by a test; this helps prepare for final exam, this is a class with a lot of material. Plenty of extra credit. Always accessible after class and eager to help. He will substitute lowest test grade with final. Posts power point, study guides and answers to tests. Do your homework and consult with him and you ll be fine.
Dr. Anagnostopulous is an incredible professor. He explains concepts more clearly and succinctly than any teacher I've ever had. Provides solid reviews for his tests, not super easy but not too difficult. Decent bit of extra credit as well. Lecture isn't mandatory, but would highly recommend going and participating because he runs them so well. 5/5
Great professor who really wants his students to succeed. Not a super diffcult class but you do need to put in work. If you follow his study guides and do the extra credit youll be in a good spot.
I couldn't ask for a better professor. Professor A was so understanding, and you could tell he wanted his students to learn and pass. He even recorded an online lecture while he had Pneumonia! Review study guides. Tests were very fair, quizzes are more difficult along with extra credit assignments. I'd definitely recommend. He's such a sweet guy.
I was nervous about taking Chem2 considering I took chem1 my senior year of high school three years ago, but this class was actually amazing. He is an amazing lecturer and cares about his students, lots of extra credit. The book is needed because a lot of exam questions come from the chapter examples. The ACS final is hard but he helps prepare you
This teacher is great! He truly cares about his students success I would definitley take him again. Make sure you read your textbook, he sometimes pulls directly from the text. Ended with a B in the class but if I would have applied myself in the begininning I would have gotten an A, so just make sure you apply yourself and read your textbook!!
Highly recommend him!!! He grades off of just quizzes and tests, but is very clear on what is going to be on them. Just do the reviews he gives during the class before the test and you'll be fine! Also gives extra credit on some of the harder chapters. I hate chem but was finally able to understand it because of him.
This was by far one of the best classes of chemistry I have taken. Having taken AP Chemistry in high school, the chem 2 aspect of it was made out to be very difficult but with this professor, everything was made clear and he is very caring about his students. Take good notes and score well on quizzes and exams. He will help you along the way.
He's like a wholesome dad and I love him. He responds quickly to emails and actually prepares you for the ACS. He made what could have turned out to be a relatively difficult course very straightforward and intuitive. Dr. Anagnostopoulos is also friendly and made Chem 2 as enjoyable as possible. Do his study guides and you'll be prepared for tests.
Dr. Agnanostopoulos is a very thorough lecturer and is good at breaking down difficult topics to make them seem simple. He did a great job of preparing us for the ACS exam. Grades were based almost entirely on quizzes and tests, but there were enough that it wasn't too much pressure. Highly recommend for Chem 2!
Dr. A is a great guy! He is definitely one of the best chemistry lectures at UCF from what I have experienced and heard from others, in that he actually knows how to teach! Skilled educator, tests are not very hard, no homework, and a relaxed caring attitude :) Took him for honors chem 2.
I don't say this lightly but if there ever was a perfect professor, his name would be Vasileios Anagnostopoulos. He's probably the most caring guy out there, he's funny, and he's really good at teaching. Lectures are very clear and he truly goes above and beyond to help his students. The class really isn't too bad and he's always available to help.
Taking Dr. Anagnostpoulos' honors chem 2 course was a great decision. He really cares about his class and makes his lectures as engaging as possible. The tests are very fair, and a decent percentage of the overall grade comes from the lab. I recommend reading the textbook chapters beforehand so the lectures are easier to understand.
Dr. Anagnostopoulos is a great and funny professor that cares about his students and provides detailed lectures. His coursework consists of 4 tests and a quiz after each chapter(10 CH) No Homework. As for his tests, they are pretty simple but punishing, they comprise of 2 to 3 chapters worth of content with only 12-15 questions in 3035 minutes.
There was a lot of miscommunication when it came to what was going to be on tests and what exactly to study. Grading is unclear at times.
This professor is really good: engaging lectures, solves problems in class and provides study guides. He will make you work for your grade: quiz for each chapter and an exam every two, but drops the lowest exam & lab grade and gives extra credit assignment. He also emphasizes in class what to focus on tests and posts the answers to all exams etc.
Vasileios is a good choice. His lectures are easy to understand, and there's some HW and quizzes. There's little review material, so to study you can go over the powerpoint slides he posts, and classes are recorded too. Unfortunately, his lectures can be a bit dull, so following along for more than an hour can be challenging at times. He's good tho
Prof. Anagnostopoulos was simply not prepared to teach chemistry 1. Exams were too short(8 questions on 150 slides), criteria was incredibly unclear, and he would say one thing and do something completely different. A great guy at heart, and his lectures were entertaining, which is why I feel bad for this rating, but he should stick to chemistry 2.
I took this class based on the reviews, I'm a pretty good student so I wasn't worried at all, I worked and studied for this class and it just didn't work out. He would say that certain things would be on the exam and they weren't meanwhile things he didn't say would be on the exam were. The class average for the final was a 59.
None of the exams had an average score that was passing. He did not curve any except the final. The final exam average was a 58% (with curve). He will tell you to study previous quizzes and youll be okay but DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM. He is a nice guy, but this class is extremely difficult for no reason. Its chem 1, it shouldnt be so hard to pass.
Prof. Vasileios Anagnostopoulos is quite literally the worst teacher you can have. You can study all you want but tests are given with little to no time and he expects every student to be as smart as a prof when taking his class. His class averages were horrendous and the average grade on most exams was an F. I scored C's which was good but no cur
Made Chem I harder than it needed to be. Lectures were good, would go over some problems, but tests and quizzes did not line up with the material and problems we were learning. Only grades tests and quizzes. His tests were about 8-15 questions and had a time limit of 20-35 minutes. His test average were D's and F's and final test was a 59.9%.
I don't know why everyone is complaining about him, his tests was pretty simple and fair. I didn't go to lecture at all since i didn't want to be in person and his zoom lectures are heard to hear so i learned everything myself through his power points which had all the info and was able to pass the class with a High A. Taking him for chem 2.
Tests were never clearly defined by the professor and never like previous quizzes, assignments, etc. that we had to study. Average for all tests were Ds and Fs. Very unorganized course.
He posts his lectures, goes over problems, gives extra credit, drops one exam, posts answer to exams, tries to keep the interest high at 5pm in the evening and will answer in detail in emails and during office hours. I don't understand why people complain. Yes, you will have to put effort, it is not a free ride. Taking him for Chem 2.
pros: caring, does his best to simplify difficult topics, engaging, clear instructions (do NOT pay attention to previous reviews, frankly they are embarassing), he will help if you put the effort cons: challenging class, he has high expectations and standards. But he goes over the topics and problems and makes you repeat & practice. Recommended.
Course very similar to AP Chem. Has online quizzes and in person tests. Not a bad teacher, but dont study past quizzes when preparing for an exam. He rarely test on material twice (look in his PowerPoints to study what he hasnt tested on). exams are only about 12 questions so if u miss more than 3 ur in trouble. Only gives exams+ quizzes +2 HW
You can succeed in this class, but you have to try! Plenty of quizzes & exams, lab grade helps, drops 1 exam, curves final. I had high Cs half way through the semester & I started going to his office hours & discussion sections and finished with an A! Very helpful, showed me how to study properly etc. I am the prior,.u can do it, if you want & try
Dr.A is a really sweet guy, but I didnt think he taught chem2045 the best. He did not give us any dates of quizzes or tests in the syllabus (besides the final). I will say, he hyped up the final a lot but it was pretty easy. out of all the other chem teachers, he is probably your best bet. Basically recites the slides though.
Very accessible after class and during office hours. I feel he gives you all the tools to do well, but you have to apply yourself and not make the mistake to let things slip through the cracks. There is a lot of information and you can feel lost sometimes, but he cares about his students, and replies fast and posts everything.
He's got some bad reviews, all from chem 1 since in the past he usually teaches higher level chem. I was in his chem 1 class and did alright, he is a no nonsense guy. Tests and a quiz or homework assignment per chapter, no busy work. He has a link to a free text book in his syllabus which supplemented my studying a lot. Overall good professor
Professor gave good lectures but exams and tests would be few in questions and sometimes not over what he did in class.
Not suitable for chem 1 teaching. Is extremely hard and your grade is based off exams. Highest average in my class was maybe a 63 on exams. He might be okay for graduate classes but not undergrad
I don't have a clue what other are complaining: plenty of tests, assignments, exams and labs to make this class comfortable and stress free in the sense that one exam/test will not rule your entire grade. He helps a lot by curving, dropping an exam etc. and he is very helpful at office hours. i guess people just dont want to work..i recommend him
Yes you have to study slides and solve many problems (he gives study guide). Yes chem is difficult. But what others wrote makes 0 sense: all questions were from the material he taught. That why 15% of the class ended with A & 30% with B. He provides office hours and tutoring sessions. There is no excuse to not do at least ok
Power point+study guide, every CH has a quiz-assignment, 4 exams and final and lab. Drops lowest exam and lowest lab grade, curves final, and extra credit assignment. Chem is tough and has a lot of material. PUT the effort and he will help you along the way. I wish I had gone earlier to office hours, I would have ended up with at least a B.
This class was very interesting, something completely different to what we are used in chemistry so far. He placed every new concept in a real world situation, he showed applications and practical examples. Gotta put the effort, but an A is very attainable. I was inspired to do research in his lab after this class. 4 tests, 1 final & presentation
Professor A is an amazing professor. He is clear with what he requires you to do from the beginning of the semester and does not derail from that. The class is made up of 4 major exams (and a final) and then quizzes after each chapter we cover. If you do well on the quizzes then you should do well on the exams. He was a fantastic professor.
idk if it was the TA's or him, but he posted docs of answers to quizzes so we could use them to study, and for like 5 of the quizzes/exams, the answers he posted were wrong. His tests are <16 Q's and 30 min. He does drop one. Final is like 20-25% of your grade. reads off ppts and 90% of info is not tested. Attendance not required. Got A in AP CHM
Dr. A is a great prof: posts all materials and grades all tests and assignments fast. Studying is easy: power point, study guide based on textbook, learning outcomes and answers to quizzes. A lot of material though, you work for your grade. Helpful during office hours and after class. Drops one exam and curves the final. Extra credit too.
I read previous reviews and I could not disagree more: this professor is efficient, and tough but fair. He goes over the material and highlights the most important things: he clearly says: this is gonna be on the test. But people did not show up in class. You put the effort, he will help you. Many quizzes and tests and assignments., Drops lowest
Great professor: funny lectures, slides, study guide, plenty of quizzes, assignments and lab grade. 4 exams, drops lowest. A bit of extra credit. Final was easy and curved also. Very clear instructions, announcements and reminders almost to everything. Take him and you will learn a thing or two.
He always says the tests will be just like the quizzes and they never are. You can have a 100% lab grade and a 90+ in quizzes and still be at risk of failing because of the exams. All exams are challenging. He is super nice and cares a lot but I felt lost after every lecture. Will not let you make up exams if sick which is wrong due to covid
nice guy so I feel bad for this rating but honestly the class was horrible. exam class averages were all D's and F's and the final exam average was a 59% after a 12 point curve which is unacceptable. took this class bc of previous ratings, unfortunately the bad ratings are the true ones. you can do all the work and still Easily fail. don't take
Straight forward lectures, study guide and practice problems from textbook. He is a no nonsense guy and he would say in class "this will be on the test or not" . 4 exams, drops lowest and lab grade. 10 quizzes and assignments. Final was ACS style, challenging but he prepares yo for it and alo curves according to performance. A B is fairly easy
There were plenty of tests and exams, so it didn't feel like much pressure, but you have to be on top of the assignments and the deadlines. I wish I had paid more attention earlier I could have ended up with a B. Nice professor, straight forward, nothing out of the ordinary for a chem class. Chem is tough.
I was in this class and I was frustrated with the unreasonable complaint of some people. Pay attention to details, study, and follow his clear instructions and you 'll be in a good spot. He covered both theory & problems in class. solve as many problems as possible and practice. Reach out if needed, he will help; turned my B to an A.
I am a computer major and I got B. It is a challenging class and he has high standards. 10 quizzes-assignments, 4 exams (drops 1) and final. Go to class, if you don't want to be lost, it's a lot of material. Solid lectures, important things are laid out, as well as "don't spend time on this" Clear instructions through announcements. Overall enjoyed
1quiz-HW/chapter, 4 exams (drops 1), final with curve. Quizzes (online) were easier, tests were challenging but fair; go to class and you can earn a good grade. Replies to emails fast and in detail. There were people from other sections attending his class cause they didn't understand their instructor! Overall, good professor, you will learn
Very good professor. I was lost half way through the semester, and his office hours saved me; he was supportive and helpful. He gave entailed feedback. Good lectures, clear expectations, tough class. Attend the lectures and ask questions and go to him often! Taking him for Gen Chem 2, I am inspired to do better.
took chem 1 and the majority of your grab us exams which are maybe 10questipns each. Had an average of 57 almost each exam
4 tests, 4 quizzes, drops one exam and curved final. A bit of extra credit too. Tests we challenging, but fair, quizzes were on the easier side. Thorough lectures, clear expectations.; imagine people from others sections would attend his lectures! I'm in Chem2 now, the hall was full today and there is a waiting list. You will studyarn too
I would not listen to all the bad reviews these are probably people who thought that it was going to be a free ride or something.. if you are ready to work and want to learn take this professor. You will work for your grade but you can get a good grade. Follow instructions and go to class and office hours. Try your best to score well in the exams
So far I have a B in his class; challenging class with a lot of material. But also well structured: he lectures and then does a review for every chapter. Quizzes and exams are based on the reviews. He actually says in class "I will ask this". Go to class and take good notes. Also attend office hours. He goes beyond to help and explain.
I took him for 2045 and it was much better because the grade was padded by our lab grade but for 2046 all of our grade consists of is 4 quizzes and 4 tests which are not curved. Take that as you will. If you're not a strong test taker or prefer to have homework as part of your grade then I would take someone else.
straight forward class: lecture, review at the end of each chapter and then a quiz and/or exam. Exams are very similar to the review sheets. Homework for extra credit is given in more difficult chapters. Go to class, it helps; he is clear in what he will ask & he clearly states what's important and what not. Very helpful during office hours
I don’t recommend studying by the book with him, BUT the video links in the book are useful for math.He rarely replies to emails, but does answer questions after class. The SI (Carolina) for this course is good too,I recommend her reviews.Only cons is lack of study material, he sometimes gives trick questions, and he talks quickly.
I like how the lectures are structured: going over the material, review and then exam. Tests very similar to review sheets (keep that in mind from early on). He posts answers with explanations and then sort of repeats the questions. Just make sure you understand the material not memorize it. Very helpful after class and office hours.
Class with a lot of material but you can do well. 1.Go to class from the beginning,he is clear on what is important and he does reviews after every chapter, 2.Quizzes and exams are very similar to the review sheets, 3.make sure you understand how to apply and not memorize, 4.if you can't, talk to him/office hours,he will help you even how to study
Professor offers in class and online zoom lectures. I did in person for the first half of the course and online the second half. Workload is decent, some extra credit opportunities.Tests can be difficult (especially first one) but once u get used to his style, exams get easier. So, 4 exams, 4 quizzes, 3 extra credit, final replaces lowest grade.
Very straight forward lectures and very straight forward exams, quizzes and finals. 4 exams, 4 quizes, final, some extra credit. Review after every chapter; this is very important, do not miss those because al tests and quizzes are based on those. Go to the class, skip zoom; he states clearly what's important. He posts everything (slides, answers)
He is a great professor! You pretty much know what will be on the tests because of the practice problems/study guides. It's difficult subject so it isn't a walk in the park but he gives extra credit. Final is cumulative and 50 questions, the percentage replaces your lowest exam grade but nothing gets dropped technically. I would recommend!
His classes are a bit difficult relative to other chemistry professors, but he is an excellent and knowledgeable professor. Final grade is based on 5 exams and 4 quizzes, so be ready to study. He offers minimal extra credit, but the class is manageable without it. If you aren't getting blasted by other classes/work, a B or even an A is doable.
This professor explains everything in a way that is very easy to understand. He provides homework assignments and practice problems. STUDY THESE. if you are able to understand the practice problems and their concepts you will do well on exams. There is a cumulative ACS final, but he goes over everything and prepares you enough to do well on it.
Took this professor for Chem I, he's A LOT better for Chem II since he gave us tons of practice problems. PAY ATTENTION ON THE THINGS HE EMPHASIZES IN LECTURE + DONT MISS ANY EC!!! Print & work on the ALL the worksheets multiple times, he writes similar problems/concepts on the exams. I finished w an A, its definitely possible
Very lecture and example heavy. Few assignments, 4 test, 4 quizzes, extra credit, and a cumulative final. If you go to lecture and use his review sheets, you will be able to pass the class. Some test questions are tricky but he posts all the answers with explanations. Make sure everything works with Honorlock and start tests with time.
Great professor but this class is very challenging. I dedicated all my time to this class & still only got a C. Grading is very test heavy & tests are in person, no curves on tests. Graded by very little & provides extra credit hw but it doesnt do much for ur grade. Wish there was more assignments & less test heavy. U have to work very hard to pass
He is an amazing professor, grade is based on tests, quizzes, and some extra credit assignments that can REALLY help your grade. Attendance is not mandatory, but I recommend attending them all. He is very caring and posts explanations for every test/quiz/homework problem! PLEASE take him, you won't regret it
If you do not have a strong chemistry background, be ready to study a lot! 4 quizzes+4 exams+cumulative final. I studied a lot but still did not do well on the exams. Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities! He gives out a lot of extra credit quizzes. Also whatever you get on the final replaces the lowest test grade if it's higher.
Very good professor:he does reviews after every chapter & exams are based on those; he is clear about what's going to be in the exam. Posts all reviews & tests with explanations and study guides. You need to put the effort, material is challenging, but he is very helpful.Gotta work for your Xtra credit, but there is plenty, almost in every chapter
Class is organized very neatly. Professor provided extra credit worth over 10% of the grade. Does practice problems every class and is very clear as to what we should expect on each exam. Half of the exam questions were identical to the study guide ones. Fantastic professor!
he's an amazing professor, super knowledgeable in chem. Make sure to study his reviews and his homework and you'll pass every exam, he gives you a lot of formulas for exams, he wants you to know the concepts, not memorize everything. I recommend going to lectures and office hours if you do not understand, he's very caring and wants you to pass!
Attend his lectures and you should have no problem, he's very clear about what he wants you to know. There were many extra credit opportunities and he provided practice problems in-class/in the textbook. Replaces your lowest exam grade with you final exam grade if it is higher, but the final is cumulative. Do his practice problems to study!
Best professor in all of the chemistry department. He's a very good lecturer/explains difficult topics in a way it's easy to understand. Chem 2 is not an easy class but Dr.Anagnostopoulos formatted the class in a way that it is easy to pass. He does offer extra credit and uses the textbook. Highly recommend this professor to anyone taking chem 2.
Easily the best Professor I've had at UCF hands down. Gives so much extra credit that even after doing terrible on the first two exams I still have a B. I swear I would give anything for him to teach orgo 1. Attend the lectures and do his reviews and you are bound to succeed with an A or B. Take him if you have the opportunity.
He was an amazing professor! He made chem so fun with his humor his genuine care for the success of his students. Final is cumulative but he gives you the exact problems that will be on there. Same with tests and quizzes! If you don't want to learn and want an easy A then this class isn't for you. Put in the work and you'll do very well!
hands down one of the best professors I've had. chem itself is difficult but Dr.A has a gift for teaching such a hard subject. attendance is not mandatory but his lectures will 100% make the class easier. he offers lots of extra credit too! you still got to put in the effort though, but he has all the resources available for you to succeed
Amazing and caring prof. The class is tough and focused almost entirely on tests/quizzes with few extra credit so be ready to put the effort into studying. He gives you all the resources to succeed and formats the class beautifully so it's easy to understand. Get the textbook and do the reviews/study Q's for each exam and you will pass no problem.
He was a great professor who genuinely cared about his students and their success. He gives plenty of tips on what to review before exams and a fair amount of extra credit. The class is pretty test heavy but I was able to do well with the resources I was given. Would take from him again
So far the best chemistry professor in UCF's chem department! The tests are similar to the practice sheets he gives, so as long as you study the power points and the practice questions you will for sure pass.
Dr. Anagnostopoulos is a really nice and caring professor. He goes in depth in lectures and will answer any of your questions. He has a cool Greek accent and I have yet to meet someone who couldnt understand him. He does practice problems for every chapter and they are identical to the problems on the exam. He also provides some extra credit things
The absolute best chemistry professor ever. Obviously, the class can be difficult, but as long as you review his study guides+ do practice problems from the textbook, you'll be okay. Love him!! Wish he taught orgo. Class is structured well, great lecturer, you can tell he cares for his students, and does many examples in class.
Radiochemistry is one of the most fun electives I have taken. The concepts are niche, but the class is very interesting covers the fundamentals as well as applications and features presentations from grad students on real world topics. Tests and assignments are easy and the class is interactive, more like a conversation between instructor and class
very interesting class, different from mainstream chem. Prof. A made it as enjoyable as possible, it was late and everyone is tired. funny and engaging lectures, gave application examples from real life. 3 exams, 4 HW assignment and a semester assignment with presentation on a topic of your choice. Accessible after class, gives good feedback.
Seminar is an easy class, but still important for professional development. Although this class had a lot of assignments and they were very well structured, all available from the beginning of the semester, so I could them in my own pace. Communication was very clear with a lot of reminders and a clear timeline.
