She is simply just ok. I think an easier grader who does want her students to well but she just doesn't seem as knowledgeable as I hoped, and can be confusing at times. If there is a mistake on your grades, you definitely have to set a time to meet with her because she wont remember to fix it otherwise. That being said she will fix it and is nice.

Professor Lykourinou is amazing! She went above and beyond meeting with everyone in class, giving feedback when needed and extra credit in one of the hard exams. She went out if her way everyday to make sure we had a chance to learn! Highly recommend, I wish she was teaching other chemistry classes!

class is fine, but only because the course moves so slowly - i never actually have any idea what's actually going on, but I'm getting A's. The lab for the class moves at a completely different pace than what she teaches, which means you have to learn all kinds of stuff on your own, skipping ahead by a week or two in the lesson plan. dont recommend

I really liked Vaso. She really wants you to learn and takes the time to exponent things. Her accent can be hard to understand at times, but if you pay attention you will do fine. She really cares about the students. Would recommend her!

Her lectures are pretty long and boring (and sometimes confusing) and there are participation quizzes but if you ask for help she'll definitely give it and in the end everyone got an A or high B.

While it is clear that she really cares about students and wants them to do well the lectures are confusing and hard to pay attention to. Getting an A doesn't take a lot of work but actually learning the material requires a lot of commitment to the class and commitment to putting in work outside of class time.

The class was good and introduced many real world examples which is nice. Professor was easy to talk to and cared for the students. As long as you go to class regularly and seek the professors help you will get a good grade. Only down side was the students who came unprepared and asked simple questions. Loved it!

Gen. Chem was an easy class, all you really have to do is study the textbook and powerpoints. Prof. Lykourinou is not an outstanding instructor, but she is nice, open to feedback, and willing to help. She gives a lot of pop questions in class that count for credit, and weekly quizzes are given at recitations. Tests are very easy.

Solid professor. Sometimes confusing in class, but is awesome at explaining things face-to-face. She will bend over backwards to help anyone who reaches out. Attendance not mandatory, but gives in-classes quizzes for attendance.

Extremely kind prof-takes the effort to learn and remember your name. Can be confusing during lectures and sometimes does stupid math errors on the board but if you know what's going on, you'll be fine. posts helpful ppts but reading from the book is helpful as well. her tests cover everything. gives pop questions every lecture for participation

She was very confusing to understand. No one ever understood what she was talking about and no one ever went to class because when you did she confused you more. Very approachable. If you are having trouble go see her from the start because she is very kind and wants you to succeed.

Vaso is a great person, VERY helpful when you email/ask her, but lectures are definitely confusing. Very hard to follow what she is saying and writing at the same time, she explains in more words than necessary. Tests can be tough with a decent amount of easy questions, but not too hard to get at least a B with at least some effort.

Vaso is a very nice and helpful professor! She truly wants her students to be successful and likes to personally know you and help you. Very open to people asking her questions. Her lectures can be a little unclear but make sure you ask for help. She gives extra credit and tries to make notes and wksts as clear as possible. very difficult class!!

This prof. is sooooo CONFUSING. she made easy concepts way more complicated. I was not able follow her in the lecture. I ended up teaching myself. Stay away if you have a chance.

I honestly think she's a wonderful person, but she cannot teach. Whenever a question was asked during class, it ended up taking the entire class. She's well intentioned but lacks the necessary skills to effectively communicate information. Get ready to teach yourself, not worth going to lectures get your sleep and learn from the textbook.

Vaso is a pretty awful teacher-- her lectures are confusing and I can hardly understand what she is saying. She also has not stuck with the timeline at ALL and keeps falling behind. However, her tests are extremely easy-- you only needed to get 18 out of 23 questions correct to get 100% on both of the midterms. However, she's quite nice.

Vaso, being not only a terrible lecturer, poor teacher, and disorganized clown, is also completely disrespectful to students. You come out of lecture more confused than when you went in and get major attitude when you dare ask a question. I was really disappointed by my experience in this class, and probably owe my A+ to my awesome tutor.

Vaso is honestly not the best teacher at all. Her teaching style is terrible and her lectures are disorganized. We were always behind schedule. However, she curves all the exams and even the finals grades. I should have gotten a B or even lower, but I ended up with an A. She is a great person though and she really does care, just a bad teacher.

Vasiliki tries her best to make sure her students understand the material. Her power points are very helpful, which can be studied own your own, but it's important to go to class so that you don't miss her clicker questions and explanations to practice problems.

Easily the worst professor I've had. Lectures are pointless, disorganized, long, and no one can hear anything she says or writes. She also never replies to emails, and that's a pretty big problem towards the end of the semester.

If you're comfortable teaching yourself the material I'd suggest skipping the lectures altogether for the extra hour of free time, but keep an eye on the online assignments she posts occasionally during class for attendance.

Everyone hates on Vaso but to be honest she's not the worst professor you could have. She's funny, kind and cares for her student's success. If you actually pay attention in class and read the textbook this class is a breeze. If you don't understand something go to her office hours; she's always there to help and shes also very big on extra credit.

You will never encounter another professor who genuinely cares about her students as much as she does. If you don't understand her lectures, be sure to read the textbook and go to tutoring! Go into office hours if you're still struggling; she's super understanding and will go out of her way to help you out.

Vaso really cares about her students. Although her lectures weren't necessarily the best, you can tell she tries her absolute hardest and she goes above and beyond getting feedback from students and how she can improve. I don't think I paid attention past the first week of lecture and I still managed to get a B+. Her tests are easy. Tutoring helps

While some people had a hard time understanding Vaso, she was always available for extra help and always took time to answer people's questions in class. Online homework is due every week and are pretty easy. You can get by with not going to class and just reading the textbook but, Vaso often gives examples of problems in her slides.

Anyone who did not receive an A in this class did not communicate with Vaso. By going to her office hours, I was able to review and better understand things. She bumped my grade in the end after my consistent effort and attempts to better understand the material. I learned a lot but only because I made the effort. It is not that hard if you care.

Learned to that I hate chemistry during this class! I had her for Gen Chem 1 and 2. She's a fine professor, but I think she would be better suited to a smaller class. She had a hard time controlling the 100+ person lecture, and she wasn't always great at explaining things. It was good to come to class already having read through the lecture.

She is also big on extra credit and very fair in providing additional opportunities for success. She is very caring about students, but her lecture won't help you a lot. She uses her laptop with a touch screen and writes a memo with her pen. But her handwriting is too "artistic" and barely can read. If you want to get high points on exams, I highly recommend watching youtube videos and read a textbook rather than listening to her lecture.

Vaso was the worst at explaining things. It's even worse when this is a class you need to just get over with. It is extremely difficult to follow along, she moves at lightning speed, and makes zero sense. She seems like a perfectly great and caring person, but her class was awful. I did not listen for like a month.

Vaso is not that great. Her lectures are difficult to understand and follow, they are disorganized and technologically inaccessible. She's unclear with test expectations. She doesn't teach, she just talks to (now with covid) an empty room of students. She is nice and responds quickly to emails but not worth it.

Everyone is being rather harsh about her teaching during COVID. I believe that although it is true that her online lectures are a struggle as she isn't technologically sound, she offers the class time to work together and truly cares about the class. Always willing to move homework, and is relatively light with homework

Vaso's lectures can get very confusing at times. If you are having trouble understanding, I suggest referring to the textbook or going to peer tutoring. I found that doing as many practice problems as possible was also helpful. There is TONS of extra credit, so do take advantage of that.

She cares a lot, but knowing your final grade is difficult because she does not put in Pollev, smart work, recitation, or any extra credit until the end of class. Odds are your grade at least a half letter grader higher. You literally shouldnt fail this class if you put in a good amount of effort.

A lot of content is packed into such a small course. I took IB Chem SL (2 years of chem) and I still had moments where I was stuck and needed help. Lectures were hard to follow at points, but they're good at clarifying in office hours. A lot of content is covered in lectures, so missing isn't an option. Overall pretty average professor.

Prof. Lykourinou obviously knows what she's talking about, but her lectures are somewhat disorganized and roundabout. Her handwriting is also kind of hard to read, especially when online. I was able to learn the material better from friends and reading the textbook than going to class. However, doing well on the homework boosts your grade a lot.

Prof really knows what she is talking about and genuinely cares that you succeed. There are lots of extra credit and tiny grade boosters. The class is pretty easy to do well in but there is an opportunity to get a good grade in the class and not learn the material too well. If that doesnt bother you, highly recommend.

Prof. Lykourinou is a solid choice for a professor. Her lectures may be boring, but attending lecture, doing homework, and going to office hours will get you the grade you want. In addition, she is a truly kind person who really cares about her students.

I think that she has changed her teaching style drastically since the previous ratings. Her lectures were organized and she truly cares about her students learning the material. There was a lot of extra credit and office hours on weekends if you needed more help. Easy A if you go to lectures and recitation.

Although well-intentioned, Lykourinou has a Greek accent that makes her already poorly structured lectures difficult to follow, which is compounded by her tendency to complicate otherwise simple concepts. Numerous opportunities are available throughout the semester for extra credit though, so be sure to take advantage of that.

Vaso definitely cares about her students and wants them to do well. However, she is terrible at teaching, very disorganized, and has a very heavy accent and bad handwriting. If put in the effort and study a lot on your own, you should be able to get an A. However, if you're not a self studier, would suggest a different professor.

Took Gen Chem 2. I didn't go to class or study very much, I felt like it didn't help going to lecture. Professor is so nice and caring but can't understand a thing she says and can't read her writing, she seems super disorganized. Make sure to make friends in class to work on things together. She has a lot of things to boost your grade to get an A.

I love Vaso as a person (so sweet), but as a professor, she can be quite disorganized, change/add a lot of assignments. For many of the test questions, she'd put the answer in wrong so the students would have to correct her to change the grade. Can be passive aggressive sometimes. Overall though, she makes tests only 60% of your final grade.

DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. She's so rude to her students, doesn't answer questions and blames us for things that SHE DOES. Listening to her lectures makes me even more confused about chemistry so it's basically worthless. oh and her tests have nothing to do with the material she gives/ you learn in class.

Teaching and lectures were incredibly disorganized, and she spent an entire week describing one stoichometry problem. Be prepared to teach yourself outside of class. Practice exams and study guides do not at all match what is on the actual exam, and she's incredibly unhelpful if you ask her a question. Don't even bother showing up to class.

Genuinely the worst professor I have ever had. This woman can't teach. I try so hard every day to pay attention but it's honestly impossible. Her tests are difficult, and often don't have anything to do with what she teaches in class. Avoid if possible.

Such a bad professor do not even bother going to class it will confuse you more. Get ready to spend hours teaching yourself all the content out of class and doing all the practice she gives and still not knowing what to do on the exams. Only a few multiple choice problems so a few wrong means you will fail the test.

I have very mixed feelings. She is genuinely very kind and flexible. She will always give you an extension if you ask and really makes an effort to make herself available and give students extra support. Her teaching though is awful she overcomplicates everything and doesn't organize the material in a straight forward way. Very tough grader too.

She seems like she cares, but the class is structured very poorly. Be ready to teach yourself all of the material and don't even bother going to class, it will only confuse you more. One of the most disorganized instructors I have ever had. She is very smart, but is terrible at communicating to students. Going to lectures, taking notes, doing the homework, much of the class still fails her exams. She is very confusing and while intelligent, a terrible instructor. If you can, take ANY other professor for this class.

Worst professor I've ever had. The only professor I think could be worse is one that never shows up. She cannot teach and does not know how to use class time effectively. For the final, I had to learn 40% of the material on my own because she was so far behind for no reason. Do not take her unless you already have a strong chemistry background.

DO NOT TAKE VASO. This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken in my entire life. She can not teach for the life of her and is even worse at explaining. I went to one of her office hours, needing help to understand a homework question, and I walked out more confused. It's honestly more useful to skip class and self learn.

This is one of the WORST professors I have ever had, not only is she obscenely unorganized but gives unbelievably unhelpful assignments, cannot physically teach to save her life and gives obscenely hard tests that get average class scores of 50%. Her canvas is unorganized her slide sets are messy, and her hand writing is god-awful. Save yourself.

This class was so hard. High quantities of long assignments. Confusing lectures, and horrible tests that have errors and content we didn't learn. The tests are short, so you can only miss 1-2 questions to score well. There are "test corrections" but they are for a daily grade, so it takes about 2 hours for no added points to your test. Do not take.

If I could give Vaso a 0/5 I would. She can not teach for the life of her and spends majority of her class time ranting about how to navigate her canvas modules. YOU WILL NOT LEARN. Her practice exams are significantly easier than her actual exams (which are impossible to pass unless you fry each one of your individual braincells). DO NOT TAKE HER.

AVOID THIS GREEK GOD. She hyperventilates within the last five minutes of class when she comes to the epiphany that she's gone over 20% of the slideshow. I have levitated in this class class out of pure boredom. You will not have the bandwidth to deal with this class. Save yourself and your future headaches from banging your head against the wall

She spends way too long talking about topics that don't appear/appear very little on tests and then rushes through the important material towards the end of the unit (2 chapters in one day). Yeah don't take her.

Lectures are not helpful at all. She tries to be generous by giving a few extra credit assignments, but they are to no avail because the final tanked everybody's grades. It was nothing like any midterms/practice exams given. I stopped attending class completely because I always left class more confused than when I came in. Avoid her if possible.

She cannot teach during the allotted lecture time but makes it your problem. She promised that the things she taught for two seconds would not be that many questions on the test. IT WAS LIKE A THIRD OF THE FINAL. She takes forever going over slides, getting us so far behind it's not even funny. I've never met someone so disorganized.

Do not take her horribly disorganized! Her lectures don't cover content needed for actual exams and SW assignments don't help and the final was everything she didn't have time to cover but promised would not be on it and everyone failed. Don't take her you will regret it and if you think you're doing well just wait for the final to ruin your grade!

The class itself was not overly difficult, but she is very disorganized and does not use class time effectively, so we were constantly behind. Her lectures were really wordy but never really solidified any points or explained concepts well. A good recitation TA is a lifesaver. Prof is also passive aggressive and can be borderline rude.

Lectures are hard to understand. Doesn't realize most of us haven't taken chem. Tries to cram everything in the last 5min. Offered a 10min break at the beginning, which somehow got down to 2min by the end. Final included content she didn't get to in class. Work due AFTER the final, bc she keeps giving extensions noone asked for. Overall, avoid.

Professor V. is kind and willing to help, but she is very disorganized. She spends so much time over-explaining one idea and goes through 20 slides in the last 10 minutes of class. There is extra credit, but it doesn't help when the midterms and finals are nothing like practice problems. There were topics that she did not teach on the final.

She is a nice person, but one of the worst professors I have ever had. Very unorganized and makes me confused. The tests are harder than what she gives us to practice with, containing a small amount of questions so it is very easy to get a low grade if you make two mistakes. Final was made of the content we only had a week and a half to spend on.

Horribly disorganized, you are better off just learning the material by yourself. My class was three weeks behind, and she only started teaching the three new chapters in the last week. And a lot of the questions on the exam were those new chapters. Unless you're great at teaching yourself, avoid AT ALL COSTS.

AVOID TAKING A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. She is incredibly disorganized and went over 4 chapters in 2 classes, saying it will be less than 20% of the final, but it was almost half of the exam. She put things on the final she never went over. She can be passive aggressive when people ask her questions and she can be rude in emails.

I don't think she's as bad as people are saying. She is very nice & wants you to do well & has a lot of availability outside of class. But. She is not very good at teaching. You will have to rely pretty heavily on teaching yourself as she can be very confusing and disorganized. If you have to take her, don't be scared by the reviews you'll be ok.

She is so sweet and really knows what she is talking about, the course and subject is naturally hard but she gives really good study guides for test and a recitation booklet that is basically a roadmap for the exam. There are extra credit/ easy free point opportunities weekly and you can make up for lost points from exams on the final.

Vaso is overall a nice person, but if you decide to take her class be prepared to have to teach yourself everything and attend office hours consistently. AVOID IF POSSIBLE. She is quite literally THE WORST professor I have ever had. The only reason I even passed was because I taught myself most, and my tutor who was a second year teaching me lessons in ten mins in which Vaso couldn't convey in one hour. Vaso's work is completely disorganized and then tries to cover six chapters in two days.

Not perfect, but people tend to be dramatic about Prof L. 1. Accent is entirely understandable imo. 2. so much extra credit, grade boosting points, and very willing to extend due dates. Now, lectures are def disorganized but if you truly put in the hours, it'll be okay. That being said, taking AP chem is very helpful, if not, you NEED to prep well

She's very kind and tries to make herself very accessible to helping all of her students whenever she can. She hosts zoom meetings before the finals to help kids study and provides a plethora of resources to reference to, but she herself is not the best at explaining things. She knows her stuff, she just doesn't know how to teach it comprehensively

I feel like I needed to study so much more than I should've to do well on her tests. I should've learned a lot in class, but she's not the best at conveying concepts. BUT the final grade is not dependent on only tests and there's lots of extra cred, so the grade averages out really well in the end. I got a C on the final and ended with an A.

She is blinded by the amount of cheating that goes on during her exams. Everyone during the fall semester basically cheated and passed with an A. It was frustrating for those who wanted to learn, and this should definitely be looked into.

Feel really bad doing this bc she's a nice person, but as a prof, plz just avoid the pain & don't take her. Hw was tedious & took several hours to complete, lectures were boring & all over the place, & the pacing was so off that we only spent 1 class (towards the end of the sem) going over equilibrium (which made up close to 50% of the final).

This class was difficult bc of her teaching style, not bc of the content. It was really hard to know what was going to be on the exam bc the “study guide” is just a list of all the topics. It was hard to understand and pay attention in class so I ended up teaching myself everything. She does polleves in class for attendance. Don't recommend.

She goes very slow in the lectures, which might put you to sleep, but otherwise does a pretty good job of explaining the content and provides a lot of resources to catch up on stuff you didn't understand. There's always opportunities to boost your grade. Just try to figure out what parts of her lectures are important and which parts are rambling.

If you can, avoid her. I have never once been able to follow along to what she was talking about in lecture, getting good grade on homework is easy, but the tests are pretty random and she is pretty strict with rescheduling.Very nice, but shes technologically challenged and often times just rambles and its better to teach yourself.

This seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I loved Professor Vaso. If you show up to class and pay attention, you will do well. Her exams are straightforward with questions from lectures. She offers exam corrections for extra credit. Has frequent office hours & is responsive to emails. If you put in effort, she will like you and ensure you succeed.

Dr. Vaso knows what she's talking about. She offers extra credit and corrections, and homework is light. Lectures are disorganized. Takes an entire class to explain one problem, and a lot of what she tries to explain doesn't make much sense. If you have taken chem classes before/ fine w self studying, you should do pretty well. Lecture heavy, but the chance of seeing a question from the lectures on exams is high. Offers a ton of extra credit, which can really boost your grade. She is also super nice, and will answer any question you have. Will probably see more questions from recitation on the exams than from the homework. Highly recommend doing ramp up.
