He is very laid back and easy going. If you need assistance or do not understand something, ask. He will help you. Do the homework and respect both his, as well as your own time and the class will be a breeze.

This professor did a good job of making boring material bearable. Most professors in this class just assign reading and a ton of homework, but Billy did a good job of involving the class. Would take a him for a class again!

Signed up for Billy's Windows command line course with no experience using DOS or the command prompt. Not only was he helpful, but I enjoyed being in his class and I really learned a lot. This class does require a fair amount of work, as the nature of the material is very trial and error oriented. All said and done was a good class.

He takes dry material that is quite boring and actually relates it to working in IT. I took this once before and the professor just assigned homework and reading. If you do your homework on time, you will have no trouble in this course with this professor.

Affable, understanding, and informed teacher. Yes, there are labs, quizzes, and a decent amount of homework. However, instead of assigning every single exercise in the books, Billy chose the ones that were most relevant for our understanding of the material. I guarantee you will use the information you learned in this class in the real world.

Easy A. Lots of reading. A few multiple choice homework's and 8 exams is your grade. Online teachers tend not to help. This teacher answered emails and I met him in person. Very nice. I'd take a live class with him for sure!

You want to learn take his class! He is in the IT field so he knows his stuff and makes the class fun.

Assigns tasks that can be used in real life. He is always there for you regardless of personal matters, you can always figure out a way to get done what's done. Attending class is a must if you don't you will not succeed, the work load can be overwhelming if you are disorganized and do not procrastinate. he is very helpful and down to earth and truly cares about all of his students. not being a computer person billy made the course interesting I learned more in this class then any other class

Hard class, great teacher makes it easier. Billy is nice helpful & IT smart. Uses industry examples during lecture. Book the school assigns could be better. The computers in the classroom don't execute all the commands so he provided an image for us to work the assignments using our laptop. Labs, Midterm, Final. As he says, no surprises & I agree!

Non mandatory attendance, however gives extracredit for coming. In class he is very specific about what is to be expected, often points out details that will be covered on the upcoming exam. Will give quizzes, however announces them ahead of time in class. Friendly, and is willing to work with you if you are struggling - just make sure to talktohim

Billy was by far my favorite teacher this semester. At first I wasn't really interested in this class, but once we got more into it, I enjoyed it a lot. I learned a lot of useful information that i'll remember outside of class. He helps you when you need it and the work is hands on, but it gets you to understand. I definitely recommend him !!

Billy is extremely nice, laid back and actually cares. As long as you listen to him & respect him he will be nice to you & you'll find his class enjoyable. If you have a basic understanding of Microsoft office you will more than likely pass. He is a great teacher. Teaching style is a lot better than other teachers you will have. He is always willing to help and makes himself available to be reached if you need to ask a question outside of class. Keeping up with homework is also a must.

I personally am very proficient with PC use, and during the course of his class still learned quite a bit. His intro course is specifically molded so that all kinds of students will walk away with valuable knowledge for the future. He requires only the amount of work you need to learn, and goes out of his way to ensure student success.

The course itself (CIS1160) is questionable in its usefulness, but it is a req for the 3+1 so be prepared to take it. Billy sets you up for success in this course though, he sets out reading and has excellent lectures that are more than adequate to help you learn. That is not to say he or the course is easy, you MUST try in order to Succeed.

After taking his 1150 & this class, I changed my major to CIS. 1160 is written by the school & required for 3+1 program & is a lot of hard work. But open book exams, extra credit, easy grading. Gives functioning lab work & expects students to explain why it works. Takes 4 hours if you don't read the book & material! Wish he taught more classes here

I came into this class with prior knowledge of IT. But that did not stop me from learning in and enjoying Mr. Pappademetriou's great lessons! He does more than lecture. He is very hands-on and has plenty of knowledge to share from his many years of experience in the IT field. Take his class! You won't regret it!

I am so glad I took this class over the summer. From day 1 it was clear that Billy really cares about teaching his students useful information which they can apply to the real world. Make sure you attend all classes - they're actually very interesting and go by fast. Finally, ask questions; you will learn so much!

Amazing Professor! I had him for my ITM 301 class for summer at IIT. Knows what he's talking about and extremely helpful. Easy A if you just pay attention and do the work. Both midterm and final were take-home!

Billy is very well respected & admired by a lot of students! He's very clear, straight forward & you'll know from Day 1 what he is expecting. His lectures are straight forward and he tells you everything you need to know. No surprises on Quizzes or Exams. He truly cares about his students and will go above and beyond to help them out in ANY way.

I took Billy for CIS 1150 in the summer. This class was not difficult at all and Billy makes it interesting. He's a fair professor and is really passionate about what he does. It was a 4 hour class two days a week, but we never stayed the full time. Many projects and in class labs and assignments that took time, but weren't hard. He's a great guy!

Who rates a professor bad a few weeks after a class starts? Someone that can't keep up. Great class but not easy. Want to learn, take Billy's class. Attendance required & gives points to be there. Lot of group discussions. Great lectures. He also teaches IT classes at IIT. I asked him for letter of reference and he gave it to me. Work for that A!

Billy is a great professor, he has great experience in the field that he relates to topics have in order for the class to get an overall better understanding of lessons being given. Billy makes computer learning fun and challenging. Yes, there's lots of homework but it's more than manageable. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He allows you to think critically and apply the knowledge you learn to everyday life. Discussion and lectures were always fun. He's an excellent professor.

Billy does a great job of teaching the class, however the book selected by the school for this class was terrible. The class should be written by professors in order to include labs and lectures to actually challenge the student in Windows OS. I also believe this class should include the Microsoft Suite on Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Access.

This being an online class be prepared to read. The class structure is clearly laid out for the student showing what needs to be done each week before being assigned. For my first online class it went great! Billy stays on top of the student to ensure work is being done.

While there are several assignments in this class, Billy allows plenty of time to complete them. If you stay ontop of the homework you'll do perfectly fine. The beginning of class is spent discussing recent tech news, which is fun and interactive. Overall, Billy does a good job explaining things several different ways to help everyone understand.

Where do i start off. Billy is a great guy with a good sense of humor. He can get pretty angry at times (try not to piss him off). He made me develop a passion for IT. Billy knows and cares a lot about IT and it shows throughout this course. He has a great personality and sense of humor, and he strives to make sure each student understands the lectures. He makes the dry textbooks interesting. With eperience in the subject, he ties the material to real scenarios. He's accommodating for students with disabilities. The discussions about current events in technology are thought provoking and fun. The midterm's oral presentation part prepares students for the oral aspects of a career in technology.

An inspirational professor. Lectures are 30 - 45 min. Rules: Points given for mandatory attendance. He's lecturing you don't talk. You sleep in class he will ask you to leave. Clear due dates, no late work accepted. Don't cheat! Respect him, be honest & don't lie. He seems rough but he's the nicest caring person in the world talking to him 1 on 1.

I had to take this class twice. The last teacher was terrible. I am an accounting major and I hate computers. Billy knows how to present it in basic terms so it can be understood. Lot of discussions. Don't participate and don't show up, your grade will suffer. Take it with Billy you won't regret it!

Billy is a great professor to have. He takes information that could be tedious and boring (due to the textbook he's required to use) and turns it into useful and relatable information. He also provides tutorial video links and good sites to learn from. While the content wasn't easy, I felt the class was relatively so do to his lectures and class struct.

He's the one professor who gave me a chance to prove that I had changed my academic habits. I had been dragged down by a history from over 5 years prior and was being forced to take classes that were irrelevant to what I wanted to do. Professor Billy gave me the chance to move forward in my life and is the reason I will be graduating when I do.

Amazing Professor! If you've taken any class at COD and passed with an A, this will be no different except from the fact you don't walk out of the class not knowing anything. You actually learn and walk out with an A. The only way to not get an A is to not show up and do nothing.

Each of his lecture is really very important, it is especially important for computer science students.

Professor Billy is a great mentor while you take intro to programming with him. He has a socratic teaching style in as much as a programming class can be - you will pass if you reach out to other students and work together to solve logic problems. Programming became fun for me! Before this class it was extremely confusing and out of reach!

The class was basic logic of programming and essentially we would learn something new on the program each week. So long as you're social enough to ask classmates for help and put in your best effort you should be in good shape. He was very understanding and fair of other students needs.

I found Prof. Pappademetriou's (He usually goes by Billy) class insightful and useful. I am a nursing student but the fact that we are going to be surrounded by computer technology is no mystery to students today. Do your homework/classwork, 1 midterm, 1 final, turn in on time, attendance not mandatory (but you get points for attending) and you should get an A. Would definitely take him again.

Awesome Prof! If you fail this class it is simply b/c you didn't come to class or do the work. He is super helpful & although the material is difficult he explains it well so you can understand it. Expect to work with others. All the assignments are explained upfront & if you stay on schedule you will do well.

He can explain the fundamentals very well and makes sure you are aware of any resource you might need (or want) to look into to fully grasp any concept. He is willing to discuss non-course related topics as well, including future curriculum and education planning.

Ok im going to be realistic. This professor is tough on rules so don't mess around with serious things. Saying that he doesn't mess around is loose because he loves to teach but also tosses jokes and takes his students seriously. Take his class it will change your life.

Prof. Billy is pretty straight forward about his class and what he expects from you. It was a 7 week course with a discussion post, a homework assignment and two quizzes (open book) every week! Seems like a lot but it was actually very easy to handle. Must buy the book and must show up to class.

This course was all uCertify quizzes and labs iirc, so I can't speak to what (only recent commenters?) said regarding tough grading. I loved the book uCertify used, which wasn't referred to by name but was by Chuck Easttom (I know because he plugs his website in one chapter). It made me more interested in cybersecurity than I thought I could be.

Had Professor Billy live & online classes. Don't like lectures & being in class? Online is turn & burn. Strict due dates but gives 2x on exams, unlimited on others. Want to learn & like participating in a live class? Take his class. A+ lecturer & Industry experience. Cyber expert. You slack sleep & scam? Pass him up. You will lose that battle! LOL

Professor Billy is a Cyber and IT expert that can explain in easy terms. But teaches class as real life everyday scenarios not too technical. He can seem tough and rough but he is a really nice person when you talk to him. He is the reason I entered IT and got my CIS degree @ COD. Class is not blow off, but you will learn if you really want to.

i really enjoyed this class because i got to learn about cybersecurity and how i can apply it in my software development once i graduate. i think that everyone should take this class because cybersecurity is becoming more important in SDLC. professor billy was responsive and answered my questions and actually gave us real life experience
