Abu is a very good teacher. She is probably the most under-rated Math teacher at the Langara College. Her notes are very clear. Anyone who attend all her classes and do all her homeworks should get an easy A .
Kinda good and fun teacher, happy personality, clear teaching and helpful if you need a hand after class. Her quizzes are very hard but it's better to be well prepared for the next courses, right!!!??

The worst math teacher EVER. Expects people to know things they don't. Gets upset when you don't understand (most the time the whole class was confused, and she got pissed off). Tests don't have anything to do with notes or things disscused.
Not bad teacher! Just study enough will get a C at least but study harder will get a A. On the quiz, she expects you to do within 15 min or so then she will come & take away your paper...no sorry for that, very....very strick with timing!
Everytime i ask her something, she just tells me to keep thinking, without helping me at all!

Not a good teacher. While she explains things well, her methods of testing leave something to be desired. Her mid terms aren't related with the homework/lectures which is how I feel a math test should be structured.

AVOID HER!!! She is a nice person but a horrible teacher... I got a B- in this class... and that was a fluke; I'm a B+, A- person. She doesn't use a clear text, and her notes are all over the place and hard to follow.
We call her Darth Veda for a reason. She is not very helpful and gives very difficult exams, making this course extremely unpleasant. Avoid the dark side if you can.

her teaching is just like talking to herself......wth.....never even try to ask if the students understand what she said and instead just keep on going and going....non stop!!

She goes WAY to fast, she doesn't care if you understand what she just taught she continues with in a fast pace. You lose silly marks because of one missing word. She does NOT tell you about the midterm when it comes around and she is evil darth veda!
Crazy Handwriting
If you take Stat 1181, beware of her 5 Quizs which are worth 7%, Homework which are worth 6%. If you plan to get easy marks from either of her quizes of hwk, think again because they are HARD. She is not helpful even at her Office hours.VERY HARD MARKER!
Good Teacher but she teaches hard topics. Day one you'll be warned that homework and quizzes count, this is a course you have to work on everyday. She expects students to be serious about learning. [My first college A] Because I had to work so hard!

She is a crasy woman at langara, she never care if you understand what she talks about, seems she always teaches herself but students. The speed of her teaching is sooooooo fast, and she will give homework as much as you can't believe to you! Please do not choose she as your professor in Langara!!!

The quizzes are the key to her class because the midterm questions are exactly like the ones on her quizzes. I failed all her quizzes but got A's on both of the midterms. Not much emphasis put on the text, most of the stuff on the exams comes from the notes and quizzes. Exams are always scaled.
Very easy teacher. HW can be done in 2~3 hrs and don't have to study for exams until a day before. If u have any question to ask, please do. She will help u out until u understand the material.
Also had her MATH 1174. i think she's one of the best teachers at langara. Her teaching is very clear so it's easy to understand. also she's very helpful and friendly so just ask her whenever u got a question. i got A on both!!!^^

She mistook the students!! Before the second mid-term, she said that she won't test us about some points. However, in the exam, she renegued. That problem is worth 1/3 of maks of the exam!!!
Veda is an absolute sweetheart. Old school, but tons of experience, resulting in a highly polished lecture and curriculum. Laughs easily, likes her subject and her students. I was terrified by these RMP comments, but they're totally unfair. Must have been written by young business students that don't think school involves work.
She's really nice with very clare notes.Although the midterms seem difficult,once u work hard and really understand about the basic concepts,it is not so hard to get great grades.
I dropeed her class the second week i took it. She cannot teach, hard quizes and tests and lots of homework with no hlep given on them. Dont take her!

I was so weary about taking her cause people've been saying how terrible she is. But I was surprised to learn that she's awesome!! She may not teach very clearly, but her notes more than make up for it. She's a fair marker, and gives out lots of excs and hws. Her midterms are also fair. But most of all, she's an amazingly sweet lady.
She is a very fair teacher! All of these bad ratings reflect the fact that math 1174 is difficult-- but Ms. Abu-Bakare does a great job of providing relevant homework and quizes. She is also very helpful if you take the time to see her in her office hours. If you do the homework and study for the quizzes and midterms, you will do fine on the exam.
Out of 5 different math teachers I have had, she is the best. I got an A- in the course. If you goto class, take notes, and listen, you won't need to study much for the exams
A mediocre instructor; she gives good notes however doesn't cover the complex questions when teaching. Her quizzes are reasonable and are given every two weeks along with homework due every two weeks. Her midterms show contain the harder material that was barely explained. Teachers the course quickly and doesn't provide any review classes.
She is a very good prof.Her notes are clear and exercises are given frequently during the class.Her exams are not so hard and most of the mts are covered in class.If you work hard,you can get a very good mark.ALSO SHE IS A EASY MARKER!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE teacher! Goes way too fast of a teaching rate where I can't even catch up when I'm copying down notes. She does not provide much help either and I ended up dropping her course in the middle of the semester.

She's a really nice prof. Her notes are really REALLY useful. midterms are very similar to the stuff she teachers in class so you must attend class.
Her class is very clear, and very-well organized. Besides, her quizes and assignments are very helpful, and you may find this course easy.

She teaches clearly, helpful. she wants her students to succeed, she gave us many hints of midterms and exams. But math is all about practise, if you are lazy, don't think that u can get a good grade.She is an easy marker too, she is very willing to add marks for you if you appeal and see her after class...Anyway, she is a good professor.

Not an easy course, but overall I thought she did a fine job teaching it, very good notes- extremely helpful for exams. Fair marking, gives a lot of a marks for at least attempting to answer.
You want to go to university? Do you actually want to learn math? Do you actually want to develop a love for math? Well, if you take this teacher, NONE of those things will happen. DON'T TAKE HER. She's confusing, and expects you to know everything on the first day of class. Drop this class if you get in. She's super hard. LISTEN TO ME.
SHE is the worst teacher ever. She has a good knowlege of math but she cant convey it . Not helpful in or outside class for help. Reading text book is much better than going to her useless classes. Nice woman, seems to enjoy teaching! Too bad she's bloody terrible at it. Tests are very hard and questions do not at all reflect ones gone over during class. Reads the textbook to you in class so if you're litterate then there really is no point going to lecture... Would steer clear if u would like your B- or higher grade to get to calculus.
Well, lets just say I learned more math on youtube than i did with this teacher. She is a tough nut, her test are really hard! mostly word problem, which i think most of us have an issue with. But she is the sweetest teacher ever, great personality. If you aiming to get a high mark then i recommend you to find another prof.
Nice lady but horrible teacher. Cannot teach at all. I wanted to use this as a review of Pre-calculus 12 from high school but it was a bad idea. I would not recommend her to anyone who struggles with math as her explanations do not make sense at all. If you can teach yourself this should be a easy class but if not, good luck!
Really nice teacher, eager to help, cares about the students. But her teaching is all over the place, sometimes it's easier to just read the book instead of going to class. She's confusing and goes too fast, even when she's teaching something new.
We had this class in a lecture hall and boy did she write small! The first midterm was really easy (bar charts, interpreting data) but her second midterm was a challenge (residual analysis, correlation, probability). Course work was hard. Veda was average. Nice lady, though.
I got an A in this class, but a lot of people I talked to failed. The class got very confusing at times but what I thought helped most was the textbook. Veda is an all right teacher, but she doesn't slow down the curriculum when the class doesn't get what's going on. Instead she makes you fend for yourself.
No awareness of who her audience is or how to get people engaged with the material. Out of a class of 30 we maybe had 6 people in class by the end of it, and it was a beleaguered lot at best. If you must take her course, the old learn out of the textbook and show up for the exams might be your best option. You won't gain much in class.
Unclear teaching. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Over half of the class dropped. The rest of them either got a D or failed the class. Exams are nothing like what she teaches. Assignments every week take longer than the week. HARD HARD HARD.
Veda is probably one of the worst teachers I have ever had in my life. She is very good at math, but has no idea on how to actually TEACH the material to students. She expects you to be a statician from the first day of class, and her texts don't reflect what she is teaching. Very unhelpful. Over 60% of the class failed, this is not normal.
Do not take her class! Her notes and lessons are very confusing and disorganized most the time. She is not very helpful... even when she can tell that majority of the class is not understanding a lesson. She'll continue to keep racing through the material anyways. Definitely would NOT recommend taking statistics with Veda
I took MATH 1241 with Veda through TRU Open Learning. Her marking was extremely stringent leading to very low grades and she offered no feedback on assignmentstests. Veda is the worst marker I have ever had. I would not recommend taking her unless you are a genius at mathematics. Trust me on this one and stay away from her courses.

Veda is a good teacher who provides feedback when you send her emails. Marking was quite quick and efficient.
She is very knowledgeable but generally has only one way of teaching a topic so if you don't get it then you need to read about it or talk to someone else. I truly enjoyed having her as an instructor but found the pace slow at the start and rushed to fit everything in at the end. She scales tests so you may have an inflated mathematical confidence.

Awesomefully booring with 25 years of experience that ruin your time. She know math well because she is a Phd in mathematics. Good in giving handouts. She use statgraphics in stat 1123 own her own and sometimes bother to explain. Dislike office visits by students even at office times. might cares about students. But good ;)
This prof isn't that bad. You should be able to do well in this course as long as you know your stuff from stats 1181 and read the text.
Do not take her class. I went into with a 90 in pre-cal and recieved a C+ in her first year cal course. She is a brutal marker and does not give partial marks. I barely passed the final exam - despite the questions being relatively easy AND having gone in after acing the textbook questions and the practice exam.
i did an online course from her at Thompson River University. She was a very nice and humble instructor and she was always there to help me when I needed her assistance. I would love to take IN-Persol class with her. She is the best.

The feedback on assignments was absolutely useless which made it so that I didn't improve assignment to assignment, and I couldn't review my errors before the exam. It's not that it was feedback I didn't like, it was just literally symbols that didn't have any meaning in math, like a rectangle with a question mark in it, was the answer right, idk.

Prof Veda Roodal-Persad answered many questions and requests with care. For calc2, I practiced the textbook questions and went over the sample exams, and the final exam was fine.
