Worst teacher I have ever had!! She is hard to understand and she goes through the material very fast. When you ask her a question she will say, "I'm not answering that question," and if your lucky and she decides to answer your question she answers very rudely. The only reason why I passed this class is because I taught myself and got a tutor.
One of the worst teachers I have had and you can barely understand her due to her thick accent. Doesn?t teach material, you will have to teach it yourself. Doesn?t teach you how to do math labs, and if you do not do it to her liking you will get a 50. Will not answer questions pertaining to the material. Do not take this teacher!
Horrible, horrible, horrible...you can't understand her thick Russian accent and she is incredibly unhelpful. Messed up on grading multiple times and just a overall bad teacher. AVOID!
Had to drop this class so i would not destroy my GPA. I hated translating almost everything in my head to proper English. Do not follow her directions for lab because she wants SO much more. Her tests are ridiculous. Her grading is ridiculous. How is this lady still able to teach? Many people dropped. She is not approachable at ALL.
Worst professor at TSU. Has a very thick accent and speaks fast, so you don't understand anything said in lecture. She does not tell you clearly what you need to know and gives you a multiple choice quiz with no correct answer. When the class tells her we are struggling, she laughs and says "Et Easa!" Don't take this professor.
yall have no idea what I went through in this class.....absolutely hell! HW,quizzes,labs,test...everything was horribly hard!More than Half of my class failed and ended up dropping! If you want to be stressed and angry everyday then go ahead take her!
Ended up having to drop this class so I didn't fail. She in extremely hard to understand and very unapproachable. Tests, quizzes, and labs are next to impossible to pass. DO NOT TAKE!
This class is terrible. I literally do nothing during class. She goes through the powerpoint slides too quickly to take notes. Her accent is too thick to understand and she believes this math is very easy, so we should think it's easy too. used the book a lot though. i'm barely passing right now. DON'T TAKE THIS MATH CLASS!!!!
I took her elementary statistics class in 2010. I liked her! I sat in the front of the class where I could hear and understand her better. She speaks very quickly but if you are attentive you will have no problems. I thought she was thorough and very clear on what she expected. Do the hw and you will make an A!! :)
worst class ever. she is inconsistent, unapproachable, her answers for the homework are wrong, there is never enough time to take her test, her thick accent is awful and this class in general was just incredibly and unnecessary hard
I would not recommend at all. She is very difficult to understand and speeds through her already complex lectures. Also uses the last 5 minutes of class to lecture on important stuff. Do the homework if you want to pass and definitely get a tutor.
Dr.Ioudina is a great professor. I am definitely not a "math person", but she made the information much easier to understand. The comments about her accent being thick are true, but be attentive and you will understand. She is very willing to help if you make the effort to ask. Do the homework and study you will do fine.I'd recommend her.
She is horrible. She doesn't give you enough time for exams. You'll have 50 minutes to take a very long exam and she absolutely has to lecture the last 30 minutes of class after the exam. It is a lot of work. She makes a very easy class difficult! Also she is disrespectful to students. I DO NOT recomend her.
Heavy Russian accent which makes it very hard to understand! She goes very fast and doesn't explain all the steps of a problem. She insists on learning new things mentally. Like I said, very hard to understand and doesn't give extra credit for reviews etc.
One of the worst teachers on campus. She has a very heavy Russian accent and speaks very fast so you can barely understand. Doesn't give you time to write down notes from power points. yells at you and calls the whole class stupid because they are failing. Overall A really REALLY bad teacher!!! DO NOT GET!!!
I had to drop this class because I couldn't understand what she was saying... Her accent is so bad it's like she is speaking her own made up language and her voice is monotoned.. DONT TAKE HER!
This woman is one of the rudest teachers I have ever met. Any time the quizzes she gives don't have all A's and B's she makes comments on the intellect of her students. She is completely unapproachable, she snaps at you for asking a question and most of the time ignores it and moves on without explaining further. So much more I could say...
same problems everyone else has
She is an excellent professor when you get to know her, but she is extremely blunt and frank. If you aren't doing well, you will know, and asking questions over things you should have known (like where we were getting numbers from when going over the homework from last night) is not encouraged. Read all tests in a Russian accent. It helps!
Dr. Ioudina is a GREAT professor. She is a bit stand-offish and intimidating, but she offers SO much extra credit and provides endless opportunities to learn. Unlike most professors, she responds quickly to emails, 90% of questions on her tests come from her study guides, and it helps to go to all classes. And her accent isn't as bad as people say.
Dr. Ioudina is an excellent professor but she doesn''t appreciate any student coming in without the prior knowledge to the class required. A lot of students who struggle with her seemed to not understand Calculus II which is a prereq to a level high enough to pass this class. She is extremely helpful in office hours and her slides are online.
She has a Russian accent but after the first week or so you start to understand it. If she doesn't like you, she goes out of her way to make sure you know it. If you ask for help she will make you feel bad for it but begrudgingly help you. If you want a complete understanding take another professor. If you arent good at math, take another professor
She has "her ways," she expects you know the material before hand, which sucks because when you ask her a question she makes you feel dumb. The exams are super hard, and only 6-8 questions because each question has multiple parts. Not enough time to finish the exam!! She gives 3 points if you NEVER miss class!
Hmwk is graded and there are 2 quizzesweek, 1 in-class & 1 online--drops 2 lowest from each. There were 4 bonus projects and she gave pop quizzes in class periods preceding a test day that could earn you bonus points. She replaces the lowest mid-term wthe final. Her lecture slides are immaculate and available online. Supplies test reviews.
The class is hard in itself but she has absolutely no ability to teach the subject. She relays heavily on powerpoint slides to teach a math course! In order to do well in statistics you need to know the intuition behind it but she does not teach that and expect you to know it. Also mind you I've passed all 3 Calculus course with ease.
Professor Ioudina is one of the best math professors I've ever had. Yes, she has an accent, but if you pay attention and have the mindset that you want to understand what she is saying, then it's not that bad. She has no problem repeating herself at all. She curves exams and gives a ton of extra credit through the semester. She's also super nice.
Quizzes seem impossible sometimes. Test are hard. I don't remember a single time where more than 10 people were still sitting in class when it was time to turn in the tests. Don't get me wrong, Vera is an amazing professor. She knows what's she talking about though. Great mathematician. She gives a lot of extra credit. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!
If you want a headache for the rest of your life... go ahead take this class. Never was able to understand anything and tried my absolute hardest
She lectured off of a power point slide and ran through material extremely quickly. Workload was heavy, in-class free-response quiz every week AND online multiple-guess quiz on the same day for my section. Final exam felt impossible. On one occasion she even laughed at me during an office hour when I was puzzled by a seemingly easy quiz problem.
Dr. Ioudina is great. I remember panicking the first class or two because she dove right into the material, has a fairly thick accent, and her lectures are very fast-paced, but it was easy to adjust. She gives ample extra credit, distributes helpful hand-outs, and allows formula sheets on exams. It's a tough course, but I learned a lot from her.
As a student who normally excels in math, she is a difficult professor. Her lectures are incredibly fast-paced and she spends little time explaining the purpose of the formulas. She will occasionally laugh at a student if they do not understand something she may think is simple. Work load is heavy and exhausting. Don't skip or you will fail.
Terribly hard to hear (heavy accent), extremely strict and borderline unfair. If you're good at math, miss less than 2 classes, actively take notes, and miss no more than 1-2 hw assignments (averaging no less than a B on HW overall) you will probably get a B. Getting an A is TOUGH unless you're A. a math whiz already or B. miss 0 classes and/or HW
Dr. Vera is extremely smart. She knows her subjects but I honestly think she lacks of teaching ability. The lecture is fast-paced, heavy quizzes online and in-class, and the attendance is important. Heavy loaded of homework and her exams are competitive. I missed all her extra credits but do them if you have time. Good luck!
Not much on partial credit. Thick accent. Fast paced. Weekly homework, weekly quizzes, a few labs, 3 tests, and final. Gives formula sheet on tests, and drops lowest test *if you take all 3.
I am currently taking this professor an was told by everyone that Elementary Stats would be an easy class. SHE does not make this course easy, gives homework and quizzes weekly, is a very tough grader. She also gives lab reports that are difficult to understand. She has a heavy accent and sometimes teaches super fast. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER!!!!
I have never been so upset to have such a horrible professor. She is the absolute worst I have ever had. She won't give you the full class period to finish tests because she wants to spend the second half lecturing, near impossible to understand, gets angry at people for not understanding, and gives more HW and quizzes than all my classes combined.
This professor is an absolute joke. The fact that ELEMENTARY statistics is made so rigorous by her is ridiculous. She gives SO much HW and the majority of her sentences don't even make sense so good luck making sense of what shes trying to teach. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS PROFESSOR. I'll be surprised if Texas State keeps her around.
I wish there was a way to express how much you should not consider taking this professor. She continually gets worse and worse which is pretty amazing considering how awful she was from the start. She gives so much homework that you have to teach yourself how to do, and worst of all her labs have such unclear directions that we settle for zeros.
I can't begin to describe the hatred that my study group of 14 people from class have towards this professor. Anytime I bring her name up on campus there is at least one person to share his/her passionate hatred for her. If you want to learn anything about STATS or get a grade higher than a B, then don't take her. It doesn't matter how hard you try
Worst professor I've had in 6 semesters of college. She doesn't teach, she just writes out the problem and answer as fast as she can to move on to the next. You have hw everyday and quizzes every class, that are very hard. It's rediculous how hard she makes this class but she is the type that has zero mercy for anything. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
I have never even struggled to keep an A in any math class I've taken. I've always excelled in math and especially STATS when I took it in high school. Dr. Ioudina has managed to confuse me so much and has thrown so many HW assignments at me that she has done absolutely nothing to explain that I may end up failing. TERRIBLY AWFUL PROFESSOR. 0/10
I took this professor only because she was the last one available. If i had known that it would actually be this bad then I would have waited until the next semester to take the course with anyone else but her. I highly advise you do the same.
Her accent's not that hard to understand, save a few words that she pronounces wrong. Explains how to solve every type of problem that you will be asked to solve. Take notes. Gives extra credit.
Stats is hard but Dr. Ioudina makes it as easy as possible. She lectures each day, then works through practice problems, and stops constantly to ask if anyone has questions. She NEVER acted like someone was stupid for asking questions. Tons of easy extra credit. Answers all emails. The course if very quick- don't expect to skip class or slack off.
Don't waste your time. One review on here says she's a joke of a teacher, and that about sums it up. Its not that she has an accent that makes her lectures worthless, its that she moves so quick and does a terrible job actually explaining concepts. I might as well have taken an online course, because much of what I learned was on my own.
Don't do it, even if its the only available class don't do it. This class requires more time than any class Ive ever had. She assigns homework due the day of tests and thats just one example of her shenanigans.
She was great! Somewhat difficult class, but she set you up to learn the needed material and applications to real life. Hw and online quizzes every week, but she drops 2 grades of each and the hw DEFINITELY helps you with the tests. Easy B with some effort, can get an A with outside work put in. For someone who sucks at math, she made it bearable!
Not a bad person - she's really quite sweet- but she hasn't any idea of how to teach the class. Her lectures were unclear as to how to solve the problems we were given, and the textbook was absolutely horrid. I'd recommend trying an online class. Non-majors DO NOT CARE about theory. Just give us the equations, please.
She is a sweet teacher but HAS NO IDEA HOW TO TEACH, she goes on and on writing super fast examples and expects everyone to get it like she does, she does have a really strong accent but it's understandable. The class relies heavily on the test so if you fail one chance are you won't pass.
What a horrible professor. She's a very nice lady, but I'm not certain why Texas State still has her on teaching students. She talks at about a thousand words per minute, has a very thick accent, and it's incredibly difficult to keep up and take effective notes. Realistically, expect to read your textbook at teach yourself the content.
She is an amazing professor I don't know why people complain about her, she does have a thick accent but you get used to it really fast. Just do what you're supposed to and if you don't understand something just ask for help, literally you can passed the exam with a formal sheet which she let's you use in any exam.
Dr. Ioudina is really nice but the class is difficult. If you're good at math, it won't be a problem, but if not I recommend taking an easier professor. She doesn't use the textbook, and most information for tests and homework can be found in her lecture slides. Tests are all free response, so you have to know your stuff in order to pass.
Had no other choice but to take her. Her class is the hardest thing ever. She talks super fast and has a super thick Russian accent. Material was never clear to me. She would constantly belittle my class saying how bad we all did in the test. The homework is half online (which you can find the answers to) and half written
Dr. Ioudina is the most amazing professor I've ever had. Her class is not easy, but she provides every tool possible for success. There are no curves, but her tests produce perfect bells. 40% of the students who did not drop her class made an A or B this semester. She is extremely organized and caring. Making an A has never felt better.
(DO NOT TAKE HER AT ALL COST) If you have the chance now drop her IMMEDIATELY!! She is terrible! She doesnt teach the class well and she always blames us for doing the problems wrong when its her who doesnt teach it right. I took her at ACC. She is not nice and not good at teaching. She doesnt give you enough time for the homework and the test
Professor Ioudina is a sweet lady, but not the best professor. Gives LOADS of homework over things that may or mat not have been taught, makes you feel silly for asking for clarification on a concept, her accent is thick, but definitely understandable although she talks VERY fast. The time crunch for exams is unreal making you work very quickly
She is a very nice person, but not the best teacher. I'd say not as bad as others made her out to be. However, as with many other math classes, it is much easier to watch a 5-10 minute video on YouTube that explains better than the lectures do. The homework was relatively hard. Test are ok, just show work and you'll get credit even if you're wrong.
This is the worst professor I had at Texas State.
She gives very limited time to do problems, usually less than 2 min for each question. she expects students to work very fast giving tests only 10min long ranging from 6-10 questions, some questions including compiling mathematical calculations (which wouldn't be a problem if we had more time to work). She is unapologetic, tests are the same way.
She is the WORST professor Ive EVER had. Tests are timed, so be ready to solve math problems in under a minute. Attendance is mandatory. Quizzes every other class. No extra credit. Lots of homework. Never understood a single lecture because of her thick accent. Heavy inconsiderate grader. Avoid her at all costs, shes terrible!!
THE WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD *DO NOT TAKE HER* She gives back to back quizzes and lots of homework. She doesnt give enough time for exams, she is so disorganize with test. Terrible at lecture, if you miss one class you pretty much lost the semester. She pretends us to know what shes teaching. She doesnt care about her students
She expects you to know how to do problem within a minute which makes no sense. Examples are very vague and not helpful. Homework, review, and test questions dont correlate. I would avoid at all cost and exams make no sense at all. Not the best math professor
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! She is very disorganized with lectures, quizzes and tests. Changes format of exams with no warning or preparation. Changes her grading percentages mid semester. Lectures are very hard to follow.
Don't take this professor. She does not care if you get it all. She talks way too fast and looks down on you if you ask her to slow down. All her homework is hard and she doesn't care if you're confused. If a natural disaster happens don't expect her to have any sympathy and will expect you to do a test with no in class review.
Does the bare minimum. Every hw test and quiz is riddled with errors and has vague instructions. Be expected to guess what she means a lot. Also makes constant errors in grading and you have to go to office hours to fix it. If you have questions she will role her eyes and be condescending. She is the reason I wont be doing grad school at T state
There is a lot of material to get through, which makes this class really challenging. Doctor Ioudina is strict but reasonable. Since the class was online, there were a lot of PowerPoint slides. Her exams are long, so there is little time to complete each question. But, if you study and do the homework you will be fine. Overall not a bad teacher
I have never felt strongly enough about a professor to take the time and steps to leave a review other than this one. She talks the entire lecture and never goes over an example more than once. Her accent is hard to understand, especially at the rate she teaches. I have also never dropped a class, but this one made learning stats impossible.
I took this class online for the summer and I dont recommend her at all! She is not clear about what she expects of you for exams, you will be confused/stressed 99% of the time during her class and she will not give extra help! If you have to take an intro to stats I highly recommend going somewhere else to take it!
She gets angry when you ask for help and makes you feel stupid for needing a refresher on how to do a problem. I took this in the summer and during class she would argue with students in the middle of the lecture. She would then complain about how we were behind because she wanted to complain that we asked questions. Worst professor ever.
By far, the worst professor/teacher I have had. I am sure she is a great person outside of the lecture room. However, she was very lecture heavy. No curves, all paper tests. Paper quizzes. No extra credit. If we asked questions, she would tell us to study more and would not answer or use examples. Please do not take this professor
Condescending and not great at explaining herself. She speeds through examples and assumes that everyone else is able to follow along and understand as easily as she is. Confusing and difficult to follow along and provides little to no time to take notes and without listening intently its difficult to understand through her accent.
Super nice person, but sweet baby jesus this class is difficult. Extremely tentative schedule with weekly assignments & quizzes and practically no time to prepare for exams. Tough grader with no curves, if you tank one exam, you won't pass the course. She moves super fast, so if you fall behind, you're screwed. Very condescending and inconsiderate.
Talks very fast, Well be upset if you ask a question. One time she even game me the wrong test and blame it on me for not know it was the wrong test. The first page was normal and the rest was hectic. The Online homework sometimes don't take the right answer.
Rude teacher and does not have a shred of symptomy to give to her students. She makes you use Rgurro and assigns online portions of exams using the software. However she would not teach you what to do and how to get full credit so you ALWAYS lose points on the exam. Pop quizzes over hw that's not even due and gives exams the day after spring break.
Assigns homework to be done before she teaches you the concepts in class so you have to teach yourself how to do the hw and then when she talks about it in the next class she makes it extremely confusing and different from how the online homework site taught you to do it.
Get ready for pop quizzes every week & 2-4 homework assignments due each week. Goes very fast during lecture and doesn't give you time to process the material before asking questions. Accent is also very thick and sometimes hard to understand. The way she explains lessons during lecture and how the textbook explains the lessons are very different.
Rude to students, doesn't tell you what she expects of you, and not great at teaching. Assigns homework that forces you to learn the subject matter yourself and then confuses you with a new method in class the next day. Hard to understand and is condescending when you ask a question. Avoid at all costs unless you absolutely have to take her.
You will have a pop quiz almost every week along with homework and lecture quizzes. She's very bad at teaching and will move very fast through lectures. Does not give you time to process what she's teaching before moving on to the next chapter. Will give you 4-6 homework assignments in one week. All tests and the final are open ended
Summer: Tests weekly. Micromanages HW duedates gives -30% on late webassign - only get 1 lateday. Correct answers & explanations disabled. 2-3 quizs/week, sometimes literal mins after "learning" a subject. Class notes are useless she'll spend 40 mins re-writing proofs you dont need yet skip 75% of the actual examples. No cheatsheets/notes for exams
She seems like a very skilled mathematician, but good god she is a terrible teacher. Unless you already have experience in statistics and probability, or are very skilled in math, I would avoid this professor.
went to her office hours to ask for help with one question and she yelled at me and practically called me stupid so she made me cry. She is a great mathematician but a really bad teacher, she just expects everyone to automatically know what she's talking about. She is also very hard to understand with her accent (not her fault). wouldn't recommend
Dr. Ioudina is extremely knowledgeable and one of the best lecturers I've ever had. She really knows how to explain topics in an engaging way that many other professors at TXST just haven't figured out how to do yet. She gives handouts which cover everything; fairly strict grader; however provides very detailed exam reviews and practice problems.
Don't take her. The lady is rude lol. Teaching isn't the best either. You can't miss a class or you will miss a quiz .
every class is content heavy & goes super fast through examples. she assigns 3-5 things per week with a pop quiz every now & then. she offered 'attendance bonus' for every test. was very particular with test pts and methods to solve & provides reviews for each test. overall boring but hard class. study outside of class and dont procrastinate hw.
If you pay attention and go back to look on the notes before tests you should perform well. She can be tough at times but thats not something thats going to change so you kind of have to deal with it and do what you have to do.
Although she is very knowledgeable on the topics, she is not great at teaching concepts and grading. I got 2/4 questions correct on a quiz and she graded it as a 0. She crossed out one of my explanations on an exam once and took a point off. She regularly is rude to students, and has made me cry more than I'd like to admit. No extra credit. Nope.
worst professor Ive ever seen
Dr. Ioudina was difficult for sure. She goes through things very quickly and doesn't like when students ask for clarification in class. She is a fan of pop quizzes, but as long as you review the notes from the previous class beforehand, you should be fine. Lots of in-class assignments using excel and making graphs. Pay attention in class!
Her English accent is the worst you wont understand a single word. She might be good in maths but she can't explain it that easy. LISTEN TO ME DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR UNLESS YOU WANNA FAIL
shes not as bad as some of these ratings make her. Yes, the quizzes are TERRIBLE! definitely prepare for weekly quizzes you only get a few minutes on. But her lectures are decent and the tests are pretty easy. Biggest tip: skim over the textbook chapter before the class, that helped me a lot! and maybe study russian. her accent is a little rough
She is a very intelligent individual, but a horrible lecturer. She moves too fast, explains nothing in class and during office hours. Her in-class quiz is dreadful and does not prepare anyone for her exams. The under two star rating shows with her teachings. DO NOT TAKE.
I've had a horrible experience with her so far when you ask questions she's rude and doesn't explain anything well. Her lectures are too fast, she goes over her time, and she doesn't properly prepare you for the pop quizzes in class. One tip would be to ensure you understand what variables represent in the equations. Speaking is hard to understand.
This is a tough class, but she is a fantastic professor who knows what she is talking about and wants her students to succeed.
