He is the most unprofessional dance teacher I've had yet He is unclear and inconsistant He humilates students in front of the class He sits almost the entire class time while one of our peers leads us in warm-ups,etc He often says noting at all to us I don't know how he got to be a teacher here!

He doesn't like students who can't dance well, but he doesn't realize that he's taching a beggining class. He makes fun of the people who can't dance "right" and humiliates them in front of the whole class. I recommend you not to take his class if you don't dance well.

Highly recommend not to take him...he always makes fun of students and say "I don't think you guys will dance" He's really JERK! His movement is more like a girl. I think he's happy while students feel bad.

He is NOT honest teacher. His grading is very unclear. Many students can't understand. However he just explains like "don't compalin about my grading". It's dance class!! My friends got bad grade even he looked awesome! He just doesn't like the style, then he doesn't give you A.

I am a dance major and I refuse to take any dance classes from him because he is sooo terrible. I'll go somewhere else or take it from Mr. Lucas I don't know why they have him teaching so many classes.

If you don't have dance experience, then do not take this class. he moves really qucikly and doens't leave you any time to learn. He let's the experienced people set the pace of the class.

He cannot dance at all. I took his class just to learn hiphop but apparently this guy sucks at it. He likes to play favorites and his attitude toward his students is really bad. He'll shout out things you mess up on infront of the class. He doesn't even know what he's doing. He makes up his choreography on the spot making it look horrible. Not easy

My interest in hip-hop dance diminished because of this teacher. He can't teach, he makes up moves on the spot (which looks horrible) and he is very impatient for a basic hip-hop class teacher. He also plays favorites often. If you can't dance, you will fail this class. If you can dance, don't waste your time with this class.

He didn't teach the class, he just showed us the basic and a few turns and let the students teach the class. He gave me an A- even though I did everything he asked for and more. He had us turn in a 2 page paper about a show, 2 days after we saw it. He once shouted at his students, and threatened to expel them because they didn't agree with him. ...

... He had us take a midterm based on things in the book, which most PE classes don't actually use. There were multiple choice questions, but also free-response questions like "How many calories are in an average chocolate milkshake?" I would discourage anyone from taking his class, he is the worst teacher I have ever taken, in any subject.

I took hip/hop and he picked on me every day. He only likes guys and I would lie if I said he didn't play favorites. He never helped any of the students. The first time he ever taught a choreo was the last and the ONLY time he taught, it was super fast that a lot of the people were lost. Most of the time, its a student teacher. BADDDDD teacher!!!!

I had this teacher every friday, he immediately started teaching us a routine, which he never would clarify the dance steps. he tuaght one or two classes, then his students would come in and take over, they were so much more helpful then him. alot of ppl take this class to lose weight :(

He's a choreographer not a dance instructor. This class is for people that know the steps not for beginners. Very Discouraging. Didn't feel like I learned a thing

He always late. Never respected the students. He didn't teach at all. He won't tell you score until the quarter ends, and then you find you get a pretty low grade. Don't take his class unless you want you GPA drop.

This is not a beginner class. You have to know how to dance and have lots of experience working with other dancers in groups. If you don't know anything about hip hop this is not the class for you. Mandatory performance at the end of the quarter as well. If you are trying to find a beginner's hip hop class, look elsewhere.

He is one of the rude teachers I have ever met in De Anza.. You should know the technique to dance or he will be against you throughout the class. He will make fun of you in front of the whole class, if you couldn't dance the way he wants. Highly unrecommended for beginner dancers.

If he thinks you're not good enough, that's it. you don't exist in his class. he wouldn't care. He pays attention only to the "niche". WARNING: DO NOT take his dance class even if he beg you to (twice for me already) ! He will kill your love of salsa as well as screwing up your basic step !!! His SALSA dancing is at BEGINNING LEVEL so he can't teach nor salsa at all. Have students (seemed to be better than him) teaching . Very confusing most of the time and over all bad teacher !

He's the worst. He doesn't teach how to dance in a dance class. He let his former students teach the class, and he's sitting there watching and yelling. He send Emails to ask people "save a dance class", and as a "saver", you don't need to attend the class often and still get A. I've seen students doing that. He's not qualified as an instructor.

Why De anza still keeps this person teaching here? He lacks of manners to students. He even can't accept other dance techniques other than his.

Prof Gallegos is the rudest professors I've ever encountered at De Anza. I took a dance class with him for fun and I have taken some amazing dance and PE classes at De Anza, but this was not one of them. He will mock and purposefully embarrass students during class. His class doesn't feel like a fun and safe environment for students to learn.

If you want a friendly, relax and fun environment to learn how to dance , DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS PLZZZZZ !!!

Registered to learn basic Salsa techniques. But without much basics instructions, turned into complicated choreography being taught by his upper level students and not even by the instructor. Witnessed at times that Vernon criticizing some girl students to the point of crying. Emphasis was only on sexy moves so I decided to drop it.

Horrible teacher.

Warms class up, then sits everyone down for 20 minutes while he invents the day's lesson. Then makes everyone go full out when they're all cold again. Lots of student injuries.

Not a very good teacher. He looks down upon a lot of students and doesnt want to help you thrive if you have an arts major. He has a showcase at the end of the semester and its ran very unprofessionally by him. The course itself isnt too hard, but hes also very narrow minded for someone who teaches a class about creativity. Avoid if you can.

Took him for theatre 20C expecting a lot from the class, ended up having to drop it because he wouldn't accommodate my health issues and just over-all was really rude. He people read other people's monologues and then made fun of whoever's monologue it was, saying this other person is doing so much better. Also doesn't respect preferred pronouns.

If you're interested in learning about Theater, look for a different professor. He assigns crash course videos from YouTube to "teach" his students the different forms of theater. Doesn't lecture or give you any helpful information. He grades your assignments based on how well you can write- basically treating the course as an English class.

The class is online since it's covid and wow he never communicates with his students. He holds no zoom lectures and has no prerecorded lectures on canvas. The homework is always a 2-3 page paper on a horribly vague question and gives no resources on top of the no lectures. Horrible professor...

If you actually want to learn about dance DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I've learned absoloutely NOTHING this quarter and our only form of "learning" would be from 5 minute youtube videos. He treats this course as an English class and its ridiculous. Never am I ever taking a class from him

If you fail his class, that's probably a you thing. All you have to do is watch 1-2 videos a week and write 12 sentences in MLA format. There's usually a midterm quiz too. That's it. There are no lectures and the only feedback you get is a "Good job". Don't expect to learn much, although if you're looking for bare minimum this class is for you.

Incredibly easy class, yet taught by a wildly incompetent, lazy, massively unqualified, and rude professor. Prof Gallegos chooses a "laid back" teaching style when it comes to assignments (nothing is of his own work or time) Yet, is strict on due dates and is stubborn. One of the laziest professor in De Anza. Assignments are ridiculously simple but he cares more about your format than the content that's written (read previous ratings). You won't be learning much and he might or might not tank your gpa (peers) due to his unchartered grading scheme during his final where he gives absolutely no feedback. Have fun!

Im convinced this professor is AI. He responds to emails in extremely weird and bot-like ways. Insane about format. Sent out a mass email to use word instead of google docs because he claims google docs adds and extra space but didnt even specify where the extra space was added. Emails have so many grammar errors. Its insane hes allowed to teach.

Thought I was taking an appreciation of dance class, not an MLA formatting class. Actual feedback: "Good content, but you failed to double space after a paragraph," I got a 2/5 for that assignment. This teacher seems more interested in MLA format than actually teaching about dance.

He's a stickler for MLA papers. I was disappointed because I thought it would be a dance class, but instead it was more like an English class. He doesn't explain things very well and he's a tough grader. If your interested in a dance history course this may be a great class for you. If you want to actually dance, this isn't the right class for you.

Weekly work is 2 pages about short youtube clips w 0 actual instruction on what to focus on or research. Assignments are due Fri 5:30 pm, late work is not accepted at all. He's a stickler about formatting and would deduct points for “extra spaces” that weren't there? Emailed and received no response + no grade change. Learned nothing. Easy though.
