If you want to learn Tx. Govt. AVOID HER. She leaves class early because her new born baby does not let her sleep at night but she will penalize you if you are ONE minute late (literally). She teaches her agenda. She is hard to get ahold of. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I said something she did not agree with and she told me to "Shut Up" and refused to call on me the rest of class. In a mandatory essay for class one of the questions was "Which candidate would you support and why?" None of her business. Took off points on reqired discussion boards because no citations were given when no outside sources were used.
I am taking a Distance Learning class with Professor Reyna. She never responds to emails, which is necessary for DL. Her test study guides are full of mistakes. She has an extremely leftist view and uses that in her grades. There was a very bare minimum of actual government being taught, all she focused on was minorites in TX. DO NOT TAKE HER.
AKA V. Rodriguez. LOTSA work. Pedantic, disorganized. Attend or fail. Hated group debate assgmt but I admit: its the only way to make kids fresh outta HS to think analytically. Some exam Qs are bunk:'how to qualify for makeup exam?' Prepare to clock study hrs! If u cant write an essay, get help SOON. I got an A. Extra credit only for exam grades
This professor is RUDE and cusses in class. If you argue with her then you are forever on her bad side. One time I went to her office to discuss my exam grade and she blew up on me. She is not reliable and often missed class. However, she still expected us to know the material. Overall, she is rude and mean. STAY AWAY!!!!!!
Very rude teacher and unclear on what she is teaching because all she does is read off the powerpoint slides. Misses a lot of classes yet we are penalized if we are late or absent. This class has been my worse nightmare. Threatens you with plagarizing! Takes points off for stupid things on your exam. For ex: if she can't read it you get a 0!
I heard a lot of people complain about all the work and her in general, don't know what their problem was. Yeah there was a lot expected of us but you are here to learn something. I enjoyed the class, we as a class discussed things not just listening to a dull lecture. Overall a great class would take her again if needed.
Not really sure why everyone complaining. Yes, her classes are difficult, but she takes the material very seriously and is very passionate about it. Attendance is key to success in this class. Took her for 2 semesters and still consider her one of the best professors I've had at ACC.
Prof. Reyna is great. She is passionate about what she teaches and it shows in her letures. She leads great class discussions and respects everyone's comments. I really enjoyed her class and her personality.
Very critical of all work, offers very little praise, holds students to a standard she does not herself follow, discussion boards for other classes are usually fun and interesting but her rigid over-emphasis on formatting de-values the content and demotivates students from participating. She has 2 moods~ nice or SCREAMING! Hypocrite.
Why so negative? She's great Prof! Yeah she missed some classes SHE WAS PREGNANT! WOW, heartless! She did tell us about plagiarism & gave info on blackboard & in class cheating is cheating.I had her for two semesters & she was GREAT!Passionate, caring, & really fun, she knows government!Don't listen to the whiners, they probably failed.
I took her american government distance learning class. Her class is pretty hard that is why you must be disaplined to keep up with studing. I really enjoyed that class and she is really nice. People who complain that shes too hard need to just go back to high school or just suck it up its college what do you expect?
Prof Reyna was an absoluty wonderful instructor. She was very clear on what she was going to cover on the test and gave study guides for every chapter. Don't listen to the flack, those are the people that can't tie their own shoes. Put a little effort in and you'll get a WEALTH of knowledge in return!!
I love Mrs. Reyna's class and am registered to take her TX Government class next semester. She really knows her stuff and loves for the class to get involved. She tries not to be biased and plays "devil's advocate" to really make us think. If you pay attention, take notes and listen to her test review podcast, you should have no problem.
This teacher is awesome, in the beginning, i thought its a hard class coz we took it with mypoliscilab "online site" u have to write 2 papers the whole semester, 5 exams and u are fine. I have 2 girls and took it online while staying with them. it is not hard, take it. she grade easily. got b+ "government 2301" fall 2011.
It can be a lot of work but overall a good class. If you have questions just ask, and prof Reyna is clear on exactly everything she wants, so no confusion on assignments. Would definitely take her again.
Prof Reyna is great. I took her online class and there was a bit of work. Overall, she makes it very interactive considering you don't attend class. I'm planning on taking her lecture in the fall. If you work hard, your grade will reflect it. If you have a chance don't miss out on her classes!!
I had no interest in TX govt but actually enjoyed this class. She gives interesting lectures and her class discussions help keep your attention. Podcasts for test reviews were excellent for studying! The podcast tells you exactly what is going to be on the test. The effort you put in reflects on your grade!
What a fantastic professor! This was an online course, but Prof. Reyna was very personable. She was clear on instruction, interactive with social media and welcomed questions and offered assistance always. I wish she taught more courses on my program ~ I'd take her for all of them! You will learn, you will be challenged. Highly Recommended!
Professor Reyna was very helpful and patient. Very wonderful Professor
Professor Reyna was fantastic! I learned a lot from her class and I love how passionate she is about her subject. She does ask you to do some work but she also was one of the most understanding teachers I have had. I really enjoyed her class.
Great teacher. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Gives great reviews for tests and as long as you listen to her podcast you will do fine. Also she is not one sided, politically. She is fair and balanced.
Have taken her online for both my govt classes. She is a great teacher and easy to talk to. Very clear and helpful when it comes to work. Only downside is that she sometimes takes a long time to post grades, and does not like it if you email her about your grades. Other than that an overall great teacher.
Prof. Reyna is very disorganized, misses lots of classes due to personal reasons, then expects the class to cram and learn everything quickly and take the necessary tests in a short period of time. Good luck with getting an A if you decide to take her. You need to follow her closely to ensure that she puts your correct grades online.
Overall good professor. Review the book, but most test information is given in a podcast. DO THE RESEARCH PAPER. 30% of your grade. Uses facebook and texts due dates and such. Great interaction.
Prof. Reyna is a good professor. She gives a lot of resources in Blackboard, and basically reads the test to you in the Podcast. She doesn't give the answers away, but she gives you a very clear idea of what you need to study. You'd have to be pretty dumb to get anything less than an A in this class! She gives you every opportunity to make an A!
Prof. Reyna is very helpful. She is very clear in the information she gives you, very open in communication with the class. The assignments and blogs were all interesting and easy to get done. Read the chapters, do the blogs, LISTEN TO THE PODCASTS, and show up to class, and you will get an easy A. I would recommend her to anyone.
Before every test there is a podcast that is extremely helpful and similar to questions on test. She will go beyond to help her students succeed. And class discussions and trials make class extremely interesting!
Great Professor! If you participate and pay attention you will be fine! She involves the class every lecture. Enjoyed the class and how much I actually learned!
Professor Reyna is AMAZING! Best professor I have ever had by far. Clearly loves teaching and is enthusiastic about it. Provides many opportunities for extra credit, and has podcasts to listen to before tests. Workload is high, but totally worth it. People who gave her negative reviews on her clearly don't appreciate a class that isn't a blow-off.
InCredible dedication to her students, very passionate about subject. Loved this class!
Disorganized and for some reason waits until the last minute to release tests to testing centers, making students rush to complete. Big reason people take ONL courses is for the flexible schedule and she makes it difficult. Listen to her podcasts and complete blogs and DBs on time and you'll get an A.
Takes forever to post grades so you have no idea how you're doing. Takes a long time to release tests to centers so you're often finding yourself with a lot of wasted time. Course was very easy though, just listen to pod casts and write your entries. I don't think she checks citations or even reads everything so you can make them up.
Not good at posting grades, but is extremely passionate. She talks a lot about current topics and likes our input. Listen to the podcasts and you will do well on the tests. A friend of mine recommended her after I had a bad experience with another teacher, and I'm so glad I listened!
Prof. Reyna was wonderful. She is well knowledgeable about the subject and loves to teach it. If you take this class with her, you can guarantee a well engaged discussion and a semester of learning. I DEFINITELY recommend you take her class. You will NOT regret it. As long as you do your part, all will be great!
She's a tough professor, but not unkind. Take all of her suggestions on assignments. The podcasts are super important-99% of the podcast questions will be on your tests. If you don't read the majority of all of the tested chapters, you'll fail. If you work hard, you'll be fine. This definitely isn't a blow off class though.
I wish i could have her for every class! very clear on whats on the test. you only take 4 test all semester. she gives you everything you need to pass so its up to you if you don't study. the test are hard but definitely passable. She makes government fun and interesting. She communicates very well with students. I loved having her.
You won't find a better professor for TX government. She's kind and fair to everyone, and she's passionate about her field. She has podcasts that are perfect test reviews. You have to complete 4 research blogs and 4 tests. Study the powerpoints, go to class, take notes, and you'll come out with an A. I got an A without buying the book. Love her!
Professor Reyna cancels class A LOT. The excuses are always as bad as what I used to make up when skipping class in middle school. "I was sick" "My relative was in the hospital" etc. Still expects you to be on track, even though so many classes were cancelled. Swearing and yelling a lot does not make you a cool prof. Being responsible and fair does
Professor Reyna is awesome, her class was so much fun. Very few professors can take a subject like government and make it exciting. Lecture is not just boring power points or reading from the textbook. She makes herself available via Facebook, text and email. She is tough but fair, do your work and participate and you will be just fine.
She is a tough grader, on blogs and on short answeressay questions. She does give good feedback and that helped me improve my grade. Bottom line- if you are looking for a blow off class this isn't it. If you want to learn about government then Reyna is a great instructor-even with all the cancelled classes.
Never thought Texas government can be so interesting for a foreign student. She is so great! Very down to earth. Participation important, if she sees that you care she will care too. 4 tests, not very hard if you came to class and paid attention. Attendance matters because there are always questions on the test from videos from class. Recommend.
You have to do the work on time, but her assignments have clear instructions so it's not difficult to pass with an A. Her tests were easy, just listen to the podcasts if you are an ONL student and find every answer in the book, no surprises on the test. When grading, she gives good feedback which helped in other classes. Prior edition textbook OK
She's been pregnant, so I'm sure we can understand that she might have some difficulty with the work on her classes, but canceling so many classes and rushing to finish lectures early seems the wrong way to instruct a relatively challenging class. Tests are overtly specific, lectures are hurried, and the class is overall disorganized.
worse reviews for test than any teacher I have encountered. No compassion for issues faced by students but ready to throw her issues at us and expect it. I would not take her class again, very little communication and copies assignments from previous classes.
This class has come to an end I'm still waiting for her to post grades from weeks ago. She is a stickler and allows "NO EXCEPTIONS / NO SYMPATHY" but she's over here slacking on posting grades and keeps emailing us excuse after excuse. Practice what you preach, lady. We all have families, jobs, and personal lives.. You aren't special.
I took the course online and it was an easy A. However, if you have difficulty with writing, then you shouldn't take this class. Listen to the podcast, find the answers in the book, and don't bother reading the chapters. Just use your common sense and you'll be fine.
This professor gives students the chance to be upfront with her, she is understanding of personal issues going on. She isn't an easy professor- you WILL come out learning A LOT. You have to study and work hard to get a good grade. Keep up communication with her and you will do great!
Professor Reyna's class is fun! The work is outlined well - do the readings, study... and there's no surprises on the tests. The online class is great and the timelines given work great for those with full time jobs and/or crazy life schedules. You will learn a TON and she always finds ways to work current events into what's being taught. Loved it!
I don't know why Prof. Reyna has so many recent bad review but she is AMAZING. I recommend her to anyone that needs to take Tx. Government. Listen to her podcasts & prepare for the test properly & you'll do great. I usually hate group projects, but her's was actually fun.
Great teacher. Cares about her students. She went out of her way to help me during a tough family crisis. I had fun in her class! She's hard, but fair. She gives lots of chances to help your grade if your not doing well. I wish there were more profs like her.
I loved professor Reyna. I had her for distance learning and without her patience and understanding I wouldn't have passed. She's so sweet.
Partners you with other students for class each day. Fast paced but fairly easy class. Very effective teacher
Great professor!!! Loved her accessibility. She's available to her students when needed. Answered emails very quickly. She can be tough but quite reasonable. Fun class, lots of social media. Would highly recommend.
She is very vocal and honest about our government system. A few students struggled, but honestly, she sets you up for success. Take good notes, study, and you'll do fine. The class discussions were extremely interesting. The only thing is it would take forever to get assignment grades back.
Great Prof! Easy going. She's down to earth. Funny. Highly recommend.
Super sweet and funny! Go to class and take good notes and you'll be solid, but use the textbook for clarification! Very opinionated and allows for interesting debate/discussion in class. Always available. Sometimes cancels class though. Also, theres essays but they're fairly easy and always gives extra credit on the exams!
Great teacher! Cares about her students. Worked with me to finish out a hard semester, I don't think other Profs would have done this. She missed 3 classes but told us each time. Easy going, but need to study. It's an easy grade if you go to class, take notes, study. Love this prof!
Fun class!! Reyna has been best Prof I've had!! She doesn't just read out the book, she goes into issues. She has great podcasts to help you study - if you USE them. She's funny!! I hope to take her US class this summer online also.
Great teacher! Really really engaging and so many extra credit opportunities. She misses class but still makes sure that all of the material is covered. Very easy to get an A if you go to class and do extra credit.
Lovely teacher, one of the most caring professors I've ever had. Her lectures are always so engaging and she never bores you. She's hilarious and makes class so easy going. Tests are just what she covers in class, tons of extra credit ops. Definitely recommend her, she is amazing, funny, caring and loves her profession. Reyna is a solid choice.
She's a very caring professor! She goes over all the material you need to know during lecture time, attendance does matter in the long run. She gives you the opportunity to get extra credit, so take advantage of it! I only used the textbook if there was a section I didn't necessarily understand or just scanned through it. Would def recommend her!
Amazing professor! Her test is everything thing she discusses in class, she offers extra credit! she provides podcast over her lectures to prepare you for her test, and they truly help!
Fun class with great use of the different technology from text messages & podcasts. I respected the presentation of the course. She was so was to speak with & I felt she cared about me as a student. Highly recommend!
Tests were tough but podcasts help a lot. If you need help - ASK HER, she helped me. The work is not hard, but it is interesting. Read directions, read the book, use her podcasts, & youll do well. Great class, interactive & interesting.
Never liked government until I took this class. I really enjoyed the issues we covered in classes and the discussions we had. Prof did a good job to keep material well rounded. Plan on taking her TX class in Fall. It's really all about reading and working with the podcasts she gives. She's great!
Would DEF recommend her! She cares about her students and gives them an opportunity to voice their opinions. She also gives out some extra credit. Her podcasts are very helpful, I would only use the book if there was something I did not understand. Most of the material on tests are discussed in class.
Great class, not too difficult to understand if you work hard. Her test reviews are in the format of a podcast which I wasn't too much of a fan of because she basically just says to study certain pages, terms, or chapters. Overall a good online course.
I took her class online and I really enjoyed it. She provided helpful study guides for the tests and had assignments to make you participate and actually be involved with what is going on in our world. Check emails and apps she recommends and keep up with deadlines and you will do fine. Highly recommended.
Reading the textbook (That she helped make) helps a lot. Although she has powerpoints that you can just take notes on. Before each test she post a podcast of questions for the test. It's basically a review sheet of what to expect on the test, do it.
Prof. Reyna is the best government professor at ACC. I highly recommend her. I learned so much in this class. Thank you, Prof. Reyna! Listen to her podcasts, read her powerpoints, do the assignments, meet all deadlines, and you will succeed in this class. She is strict about deadlines but she gives a very generous 20 or more days to complete.
Best prof Ive had. Shes fair. I loved her lectures and her fun sense of humor to make class fun. Her podcasts are amazingly helpful. Read the book, go to class, do your work by the deadline and youll do great!
Tests are very easy. Gives you all test questions days prior to the test in a 15 min podcast. You have to answer them yourself. Attendance is MANDATORY. LOTS of EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY. Tests are 40+ Questions. Very Easy if you studied. She is very funny. Had a lot of lates and absences let me slide. I am a conservative she taught both sides. A+++
Professor Reyna cares about her students. She gives great assistance to students when needed. My roommate and I took her course, she helped us both. Her class was fun. She uses social media and fun apps in the class. Use her podcast, it helps a lot. Communication is key - when you need help, tell her ASAP. Great prof!
Found Prof Reyna to be a fun loving professor. She did a great job of getting us excited about material that was otherwise dry. I enjoyed the podcasts, they really provided a lot of help. Great class.
Very easy online class. Not simply due to the material, but out of all my online professors she gives the clearest instructions. The assignments are also very straightforward, but interesting.
Reyna was easy to talk with. It took some time for feedback on grades, but she gave extra credit opportunities to help with tests. Loved her podcasts, that was a favorite of mine. Also loved the current event assignments. I learned a lot for a subject I normally hate.
Great professor. She was a co-author for the textbook so you know she takes her job seriously. I'f you're looking for a class that you can do the bear minimum i and still get an A, keep looking. Any student worth their salt shouldn't have a problem whatsoever, though.
Clear grading criteria. Discussion boards and current events were uninteresting and unnecessarily difficult imo. Podcast study guides proved to be effective preparations for the tests. Reading the text is a must, as it is for any online course. Very slow grader this semester (maybe not the case for all semesters?). Slow to give feedback.
By far my favorite professor ever. She is such a great professor. Answers all questions and gives great feedback. It was such a joy to be in her class. Extra credit is given. There are fun assignments too! Take this class if you need credit.
WOW WOW WOW! Professor Reyna is one of the most outstanding instructors Ive known. Not only did she author sections of the book she teaches from, but she also engages her students in the material. She is not a typical professor as she is very qualified. Professors like her are hard to come by and I appreciated her class. Lectures are important !
Great Professor! Her podcast are super helpful when it comes to prepping for test. Discussion Board topics and current event assignments require research and time, but overall are fun to do. Don't think this will be an easy A, you will have to work for your grade. Overall great professor!
I took Prof Reyna's online TX Govt. class she is very specific on what she expects, READ directions carefully. If you do that and put effort into the assignments you will get a good grade! Great class, listen to the podcast for test guide and read directions and you will do well! She is very nice and cares about her students.
I had Reyna for Texas and Local government, there are only 4 assignments but she expects them to be done right, my grades on them werent amazing but they were mid-high Bs mostly. She gives great test reviews and the tests are multiple choice. She also has helpful PowerPoints up for each chapter you have to read. I would certainly take her again.
Prof. Reyna's online TX Govt class was absolutely amazing. Her tests (taken at ACC) are closely based on her podcasts and reading the chapters (although you won't really need to). Clear grading criteria and expectations, book is easy to follow, and only 4 homework assignments with lots of time to work on them. I HIGHLY recommend her class!
Professor Reyna is specific in the way she wants things done but if you can read directions, you'll do fine! Her 6 week Tx government class was interesting and I learned quite a few things in a short amount of time. 2 Discussion boards and 2 current events assignments (all assignments requires research+Citations) 4 tests! Podcasts are study guides.
Prof. Reyna obviously cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I took a summer online class and its not that it was difficult, my lowish rating is based off her disorganization and scattering of project/assignment instructions across multiple documents, announcements, & messages. If you are an extremely patient person, take her class.
She is great! I would highly suggest listening to the podcasts she creates to study for the test. It was an easy A but I still took a lot away from it which I appreciated. Thanks Mrs Reyna.
Real Good Class!! Professor Reyna class was real informative, and includes some of the issues that we have today...
Profe Reyna does make students work for their grade, but I must say I learned a lot. Reyna was inspiring as she was dedicated to helping students. use the podcasts to help with tests. the current event assignment was my favorite. definitely the best professor at ACC. I didn't care for government before, but now I do. Thanks Reyna!
Loved her class! There are teachers that don't care, but she does. This class made me think of issues I didn't think of before. I normally can't stand government, but she made it fun! She's funny, down to earth, and easy to speak to. I appreciate the passion she shares with her students.
Professor Reyna was overall a great Professor. Her online class wasn't the hardest course I've taken but one of the harder ones. She made the deadlines clear for all assignments BUT never put in grades until the end of the semester so it was hard to know your grade until the end. I wouldn't personally take her again but would recommend her.
REYNA IS A GREAT TEACHER. SHE DOES A GREAT JOB OF COMMUNICATING WITH STUDENTS. I LEARNED A LOT ABOUT A SUBJECT I NORMALLY DON'T LIKE. WHEN I HAD QUESTIONS WE USED FACETIME TO ANSWER THEM. SHE GIVES ONE ON ONE ATTENTION TO STUDENTS, WHICH IS A MUST FOR ONLINE COURSES. PODCASTS ARE THE BEST!!!! bEST pROF aT aCC
Shes such a sweetheart. This was my first time back to school and being OLDER than a lot of kids in college I was really nervous. For her online I had to end up doing a YouTube video and a podcast. Coming from this old dinasour I took me hours upon hours to figure out. I do believe shes a very busy woman and usually responds in a timely manner
Only 4 assignments and 4 tests and you have lots of time to work on them. I took online, but she is very responsive and nice. She gives extra credit and make sure you listen to the podcasts for the test!!!
As long as you work in advance to the deadlines you should be fine. Lot's of reading for the tests. She also has podcasts. Two long discussions. I noticed that everyone struggled with the current even assignment the most. However, if you are creative then it should be pretty fun to do.
I took the online class and honestly you dont need to spend $100 on the textbook. Her podcasts are enough to do more than well enough on the tests. The class was interesting and I learned a lot.
Professor Reyna is so amazing! I personally am not a fan about learning government but the way she structures the semester makes you get into it! Very organized. Textbook and reading are NECESSARY to pass. Take advantage of the ample amount of time given for DB and CE because they are very in depth and require a lot of detail. Good communication.
She is an amazing person and I actually enjoyed going to class, she made the class fun. She is a heavy grader and you NEED to go to class and take tons of notes. She gives tons of extra credit which I liked. Get ready to work. He class is kinda intensive.
By far she is the best government teacher I have had. There is no class work. She gives her students plenty plenty plenty of extra credit opportunities. Her lectures are wonderful and well-thought-out. Her test are Fair & she will give you the most amount of points that she can. However, attendance is extremely important. She goes above and beyond!
Honestly, don't take her if you like directions to be clear and straightforward. Information is given in like 10 different platforms. Really annoying. If you can't get past an annoying try-hard professor, then it's an easy A. The podcasts are study guides and literally the only thing you need to study for the test. Textbook was a waste of money
I read the last review, liked that there was information in different places. Reyna was easy to speak with as well as compassionate when a family member passed away and I needed help getting through the semester. I found the syllabus straight forward and info straight forward.
Refreshing. Caring and has a lot of passion in her teaching. I enjoyed my semester Im taking her for US government in fall.
I took the course online and it was great. One downside is having to go to campus to take the exam. The homework you have to put in a good amount of work for a good grade. Studying for the exams is super easy as long as you listen to her podcasts and answer the questions. Look for quizlets and she gives tons of opportunities for extra credit.
Gives "study guides" in the form of podcasts which makes online classes feel more lecture type. Very clear on how and what will be graded. Gives a one time grace period if you need a little more time before an exam. I'm terrible with government, politics, etc but learned so much from this class. There was also plenty of extra credit opportunities.
One of the best online professors I've had she is really understanding and communicates very well. She offers podcasts as study guides and makes the class digestible even with all the information given to you at the start of the semester. All it takes to get a good grade is to follow the rules of each assignment. 4 Tests and 4 other paper/project
Prof. Reyna overall as a person is amazing, but I personally would not take her class again. She says the textbook is needed for her class but I did not use it at all. Waste of $. Her lectures & podcasts she provides are enough. I did not like how both DBs & current event assignments were 20% of your grade. Provides good EC opportunities.
Mrs Reyna is great instructor. I enjoyed government which usually I dont. I loved the Currenr Evtn assign that allowed social media! Her assignments and tests were reasonable: if I had questions I asked her. Great class and enjoyed instructor
BEST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD!! For real, just take her! If you show up every day its an Easy A. She had me in tears laughing some classes. Genuinely wants every one of her students to succeed and cares for each one as a person. She will not let you fail if you show even just a little bit of effort and care for her class. Its WORK but worth it <3
Prof Reyna cares about inciting passion in students about local government which can be viewed as boring by most. 4 tests which you can mostly rely on podcasts for and find answers in textbook (online version easily finds answers) and her assignments are hard work but interesting if you do them right. Directions are confusing but doable.
Use her podcasts to prepare for your tests - they are amazing! This was my first online class and she really took the time to give really easy directions to follow to complete assignments. I learned a lot and would definitely recommend her.
Reyna is very sweet. I honestly love her, best professor ever. Listen to her reviews and you will do just fine. I read for test 1, got a 100. I did not read for Test 2 and 3 and still got an A in both. I just wanted to put out there I am no history dork, but this class is easy and learned a bunch.
The class was so easy and fun but I learned so much! Assignments were super fun. It was my first online class but she makes it so easy to learn and understand what is being asked!! She gives you a study guide that has literally the questions, word by word, from the test. So as long as you do the assignments and the study guide, easy A
Literally best prof Ive ever had! Just a generally nice person, & treated everyone with a ton of respect! She has amazing lectures, and is very interactive about the material, which made everything so much easier for me! Be prepared for lots of note-taking! She does a podcast thats basically the entire test, you just find answers in your notes!
Pretty good class. If you listen to the podcast that she provides you should be able to do well on the test. You can tell she really cares about the subject which is nice. The assignments aren't bad just take time to do the research. Her syllabus is painfully formatted and often repeats itself, but that is a small issue. I'd recommend.
Professor Reyna looks out for her students and is extremely kind. Her assignments are easy to follow and keep us up to date on current events, which I appreciate. I highly recommend taking her class!
I loved Reynas class. I learned a lot and enjoyed her lectures. She enjoys the subject which made me enjoy it. Passionate professor. My girlfriend took her online class a year ago and loved it too. She had recommended I take Reyna, Im glad I did. I highly recommend her.
I went into this class with very low expectations, including not doing very well in this class. Professor Reyna is very knowledgeable and passionate about Texas Government and it shows! Her online classes do require some reading, the book she assigns is one she helped write, but she also makes her assignments fun. Highly recommended!
Prof Reyna was amazing, I took her Online Summer Course for Texas Government and I enjoyed it very much. The grading criteria is clear and specific. Everything you need besides the textbook is on blackboard and gives you plenty of time to complete assignments. The Current Event assignments are very fun and let you be creative.
Online class. She seems caring, but I have two complaints: her syllabus has way too much going on, which makes it difficult to navigate. Also, she seems a bit scattered at times, but it isn't so bad. She definitely cares about her students succeeding, and she gives great podcast reviews for her exams, which really help. I'd probably take her again.
Online class-- She has a few projects throughout the semester, but she gives several weeks to complete. She provides podcasts with study guide info for tests which is most helpful. She seems to grade fairly and gives opportunity for extra credit. Overall, not a tough class AND the textbook is provided!
Taking her for Texas Government. Her syllabus is awful with information all over the place, and she gives out 4 assignments /projects, which is way too much workload for this type of class, especially when she does not grade them in a timely manner. It should not take almost 2 months to grade an assignment that counts 10% of your total grade.
4 tests, 2 discussion boards, and 2 "current events" assignments. The podcasts are really helpful. Insists she doesn't accept late work even if you're sick but gives excuses for taking forever to grade things. Some questions on the exams were wrong/used info from the older edition of the textbook even though she insists on using the newest edition
I loved Prof. Reyna! If you do all the readings and listen to the podcasts she provides as study guides, you will pass the tests. You have to do two discussion boards and two current events, which are easy if you just follow her guidelines. Only "bad" thing is she does grade pretty slow and her syllabus is a little messy, but I would recommend her!
Taken online. If you do the work you'll pass. The work isn't difficult and there are several opportunities for extra credit. She even allowed one test extension. Things to be prepared for: She's disorganized and takes a long time to grade things. Look out for instructions like "have a minimum of more than". Tests seemed to be based on old info.
Prof Reyna is so nice, easy to talk to, and hilarious, easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Do your best not to miss class, her lectures are thorough, clear, and easy to comprehend. She also provides podcasts as a "study guide" for tests which is MASSIVELY helpful. Be present and put in the effort, you'll pass and enjoy the class. :)
She is really nice, and her podcast reviews are pretty much the exact test. My only complaint is that she makes you do this creative project where you have to act. Some people are not very creative or outgoing. It's just not something I would expect from a mandatory gov course. Beware if you are not an actor lol, otherwise it wasn't bad.
Prof Reyna's DIL class is easy and you can get a good grade in it. But she's the worst professor I've had at ACC. Her syllabus is messy, her communication is bloated/inefficient (seriously sends messages every day but never seems to actually communicate anything), and constantly has excuses as to why she didn't stick to her own deadlines.
love her
Had Mrs. Reyna before for US government and I loved her! I was a lecture student before Coronavirus hit. I loved her lecture style she was funny and class was fun! but now, I've loved online lectures and podcasts. I appreciated how involved she's been! Thanks Mrs. Reyna. "Don't drink and drive, tip your waiter" (Reyna quote)
Firstly, Professor Reyna is nice and easily approachable, and I never had any problems with her on a personal level. That said, I found she has a tendency to drag on and over communicate in both writing and in lectures which it made it really challenging for me to focus. Most people like her and her class isn't very difficult, however.
FUN! I really learned a lot from Mrs. Reyna. If anyone rates her low it's cause they didn't do their part. Turn in work and you'll be fine. Loved her communication style, esp w/everything going on.
Her class is non traditional in the projects she assigns. She asks for students to act while preforming a podcast and separate video. This combined with multiple tests, 4 lengthy discussion board entries, and a messy syllabus makes for an undesirable class. I personally had zero desire to "act" and preform for my govt. class.
Reyna has the right intensions but isnt the best. takes points off for dumbest things. criteria as if shes an english professor, expects too much discussion boards, current events are as if were less focused on events and more focused on the quality of youtube videos or acting skills. Assignments take longer than they should.
Really enjoyed this class. Now i like GOVT, Prof. Reyna made it interesting. The CE assignments I did on immigration and coronavirus. I read the other person's complaint, but Prof. Reyna asked for us to do a roleplay which was really easy. It made it fun to make!! She gave us chapter by chapter lectures and a podcast studyguide. She cares a lot!
loved the teacher and enjoyed GOVT. Im a DJ so I loved the current event assignment where I created a podcast. Ms. Reyna had a lot of resources to help us prepare for the test. She taught me a lot.
Professor Reyna is amazing! She made me love learning government and the assignments were very fair. The projects werent too hard but made you learn a lot.
As one of my first classes at ACC, one of the best professors in a government class I've experienced.
I could not say enough good about Prof. Reyna. She is EASILY the best professor I have had in my college career. She cares so much about all of her students and works above and beyond for us all. If you can take her class DO IT! I wish she could teach all my classes. Turned a class I didn't really want to take into one I loved going to. 10/10!!!!
Professor Reyna made TX GOVT interesting! Her grading criteria and assignments are clear and specific. Stay on top of the work and you will do well. She provides lectures, powerpoints, and studyguides to help you learn. There are a few different assignments along with exams. Plenty of chances for extra credit. I would definitely take her again!
Prof Reyna was an amazing professor who cares a lot about her students. If something doesnt work for you she will do everything she can to help you and work it out. Graded on 4 tests and a few other research assignments which I really enjoyed doing and involve some creativity.
10/10 one of my favorite Professors ever if i could take the class again i would. I would urge you to engage her in the lectures with questions shes not afraid to go of on an interesting rant about whatevers on your mind loved loved loved her class
I took this class during the first summer session as my first college class and it was a very enjoyable experience. Professor Reyna is very kind and helpful. She cares about each and every one of her students. Shes very easy to communicate with and is very specific on what you need to do. Over all a great professor and I definitely recommend her.
I took Professor Reyna's 5 week Texas government over the summer. The grading criteria for each and every aspect of the class is very clear, which is something that I really love when taking a class. Professor Reyna is very knowledgeable and easy to access. Would recommend 100x over.
She's the epitome of "doing too much." She makes every assignment a convoluted mess and nothing is ever simple. She occasionally TYPES LIKE THIS to make some random point and every second line of instruction she threatens to take away points. You need the book, her lectures, her PPs, and her podcast study guide to pass her test. Also bad at DL.
One of the best professors at ACC. She is very committed to her students she made it easy to communicate by finding several ways to be reachable, she went way above and beyond to make work easier for her student doing lectures and recording them, podcasts which really helps to study for exams, she makes assignments fun. Miss Reyna you rock!!
prolly shouldve been an ENGL teacher Does not answer emails in timely fashion. says to txt for quick important questions- still doesnt respond in a timely manor. Grades by formatting more than the information. Requires dumb projects making a youtube vid or podcast. rlly should not teach gov. one of my fav subjects and she does not teach it well.
Since Covid has made ACC online for summer and fall semesters, instead of presenting projects in class like you would normally have done for this class, you instead use social media like making a youtube video, making a podcast, or writing a blog . If you aren't comfortable using social media then I wouldn't take this class.
will tell you syllabus is most up to date, then turn around and say bb is most up to date. will tell you to read syllabus before doing any assignments but somehow, the syllabus doesnt have all info. EXTREMELY CONTRADICTING. tells us not to text too late but will email at 12:30 AM. dont even bother with this class.
This was a great class. Not gonna lie reading is needed. She provided a podcast that was really the test. I didn't like the current event assignm but it was a cool project in the end. Hate DL but learned a lot from the class.
Never liked govt but I did enjoy Professor Reyna. we did an online discussion for extra points - it was fun to discuss all current issues. I had fun listening to other students. As a nontraditional student, whose a mom, I appreciated the class structure. I'm hope to take her for AM GOV.
Reyna is one of the best teachers at ACC. I had her for US. Glad I took her again.
Professor Reyna was a great teacher even with a short summer. Lots was going on in my private life & she worked with me. I was not looking forward to TX but it was a lot of fun! I enjoyed the prof & the current event assignment!
Take HER! This class was great - I learned a lot from Prof. Reyna. I loved the podcasts! I thought the current event assignment was gonna be hard, it turned out to be so much fun! I highly encourage ppl to TAKE HER class. Thanks Reyna for a great class.
Not a fan of govt. But I learned a lot from Ms. Reyna. She has 4 tests, no midterm or final. Podcasts were great, they totally prep you for the tests. The 4 assignments aren't hard. GOod class, fun & informative.
I would take this class again if I could! She is super understanding and will work with you on whatever you are having trouble with. She is super fun to have as a professor as well. I have never liked history but her way of teaching made gain a new appreciation for it. As long as you listen to her and take notes, you will ace every test!!
Great class! She literally wrote the textbook. She has podcasts to help study for tests, her tests are open book, open note. I enjoyed meeting with other students when we had current event online discussions. Learned a lot. TAKE PROF. REYNA!!
She's awesome - don't miss out on taking her - I've had the best time in her class. BEST PROFESSOR AT ACC!
I really loved her class, she was very real and straightforward not to mention hilarious. She tries to get you to think outside the box and gives very abnormal but fun assignments.
Loved professor Reynas class, syllabus was very thorough, and the content was fun to learn. Only issue I had was communication- she was slow to respond & help. LISTEN TO LECTURES AND PODCASTS most questions are in the podcast which you answer in textbook but final answers & the questions with higher points are often in lectures.
The BEST government teacher I've EVER had. I've taken this class in the past and failed, this time I was actually able to understand and have the information stick! She's so awesome and her lectures are super interesting! She is passionate about what she teaches and it shows. She provides lots of ways to contact her and responds very promptly!
Great teacher! As long as you take notes on her lectures, and use her test podcasts you'll pass the class!
She cares. I went to Ms. Reyna for help. I thought for sure she wouldn't be able to help. But she worked with me and gave me the opportunity to improve. There are few teachers out there willing to do what she does. Plus her lectures are hella fun! It shows that she loves what she does and it's infectious.
Not the most difficult course, but she wrote the text book so make sure you read it. Only 2 discussion boards and 2 current event assignments including making podcast or YouTube video, and 4 exams. as long as you read the PowerPoints, watch her lectures and podcast then you'll pass. She does not answer emails right away so be patient.
love love love prof. reyna. I'm not a fan of politics, but this class was really cool. she had open book, open note tests. she also uses a podcast that prepped me for the tests. favorite part too is she sends text messages to remind students when assignments are due. great job prof!
Class is very easy to get an A in. There are 4 test which are open notes. She will not accept answers that dont come from her lecture or slides. Has opportunities to get extra credit which is added to test . With discussion board she has very specific requirements but nothing that cant be done. For current events, try to give yourself enough time
Im honestly not a big fan of politics, but Professor Reyna has changed my view. Her lectures are so interesting and she explains things very well. 4 tests which are open note/book and 2 discussion board and 2 current event assignments. She also gives lots of extra credit. Very knowledgeable and cares a lot about your success! Take her!!
good class, I recommend reyna
Prof Veronica is not too bad . She helps you if you have questions regarding the class, but her tests are tough and timed and more than 47 questions for each test . She has big 4 tests I took in the summer with her . The time is not enough 48 questions and you get confused and get lost because of running out time and you miss a lot .
Just finished class. the podcasts helped a lot to prep for the tests. the tests are open book and open note,. my advice is to use podcast notes to take the test. My sister took the class too we both liked the class. if you don't study before taking the tests yeah it'll be hard. i enjoyed this class.
Her class is pretty straightforward. tests are open notes, open book. use her lectures and podcasts. without her lectures you wont pass. some answers need to be exactly from her lectures. I made notes in her power points it helped me during tests. also two discussion boards and two current events. you have to do research on them. I recommend her
Prof Reyna is amazing!! She gives oportunities for both live and asynchronous lectures, and provides extra credit. We have four tests, two discussion posts, and two projects. I don't ever feel stressed and she provides great study material.
Reyna is a great prof! If you take her online class make sure to attend her lectures, they are really helpful and interesting. You will get more info out of them than the reading.
This class was not difficult at all. The only issue I has was how unorganized she is.
She is a little bit unorganized but in the end, she will help you out if you need help. The lectures are pretty decent and she has interesting anecdotes from her earlier political jobs working for congresspeople. Grades were not very harsh so that is good as well.
Professor Reyna is the most disorganized professor I have ever taken a class from. Her class is very easy, but taking it is very frustrating. She completely lacks professionalism, takes forever to grade, and struggles to do things that are simply her job. The only plus is the tests were open book so you didn't need to actually do the readings.
GOOD CLASS. IT'S AN ONLINE ASYNCHRONOUS BUT I LIKE THAT SHE HAD LECTURES ANYWAY. I WENT TO HER LECTURES HELPED A LOT WITH TESTS. ALSO LIKED TESTS CAUSE THEY WERE OPEN BOOK AND OPEN NOTES. I'D TAKE PROFESSOR REYNA AGAIN.
Prof Reyna was literally a gem of a professor! She was always there for us, open book/note exams, SO MUCH extra credit, accessible outside of class, a lot of reading but she had lectures which were honestly fun to watch. Her "current event assignments" were fun and gave us the ability to be creative. Would definitely love to take again.
TAKE her asynchronous class for Texas Government (GOVT-2306). She's a great professor!
TAKE HER!!! she is one of the best professors out there!! I wish I would have taken her for U.S. GOV. She gives plenty, BUT PLENTY of time to complete assignments, there is no excuse not to get them done. Follow the syllabus, attend class, turn in everything on time, and you will pass. Easy A if you put in the work for it.
Instructions were obviously not clear since an announcement had to be made that the entire class was doing the first project wrong. I did not get over half of my grades back until the day that they had to be due to the college. I made it out with a B but would have dropped if I knew that because it should have been an easy A.
Awful
Prof was fun. i found her lectures fun. i also really enjoyed the current event more than i thought i would. She provides a clear path to success. i appreciated her helping me when i needed it. good class.
This course is not as hard as it seems. Took 5-week online course, lectures highlight info for tests. She provides podcasts for exams, do these and you will be set. All answers in lectures/book. Current event & discussion boards were not hard...and I am not creative. Got 100 on all of them. Earned an A+ overall. To think I almost dropped the course
The class is very easy to get an A in. Prof provides a test review podcast that gives you most of the questions on all of the tests ahead of time. All tests are open note. Discussion board posts and current event projects are mostly completion/length based. Try to pace yourself, but it's fine if you procrastinate until the day of the deadline.
Just an average course. Her lectures are pretty rough as it seems at times she has no idea what she's talking about. She honestly seems like a great person, but teaching is just meh for her. I'll give her that she is easy to contact and can work with you if things go wrong.
A compassionate, knowledgeable, and engaging teacher. Unlike in other classes, Professor Reyna made me feel seen and heard. Candid class discussions always encouraged and plenty of extra credit. The class was made up of 2 research projects, 2 discussion boards (about 1000 words each), and 4 take-home tests with pre-recorded podcasts as reviews.
Found Ms. Reyna delightful. Her lectures and podcasts made it so easy to study. I listened to her podcasts while I was driving to work. She's easy-going and her passion for govt really comes out. I was worried about the current event assignment, but it was not hard at all and she helped walk me through it. Hope to take her again!
Grade based on 4 tests, 2 CE, and 2 DB. Tests are 60% but they're open notes and she gives test podcasts to prep, which is very helpful. CE and DB are mostly completion/length based so as long as you meet the requirements you should get 100. She gives many extra credits and replies very fast through the Remind apps. Highly recommend.
No complaints. I finished the course two months early. All tests were open book which made my difficult semester way easier. She was also very quick with email responses. Great experience.
Prof. Reyna is a great person who values her students & in-class participation. However, she is super political in her class & makes her political beliefs known. She made me & others feel like we couldn't participate in discussions due to our beliefs. The first half of the semester is basically a history lesson w/ little to no TX govt. Good luck.
Overall very easy class, but the professor is politically biased at times and the structure of the class could've been better. She also takes a long time to grade, however she is caring and will work with you if you have any issues.
Loved this class. Fun discussions were open so felt like we could disuss anything. highly recommend. a++
Professor Reyna really does care for her students and their well being and was always there for me when I attended her class
Attendance was not mandatory for this class because it was an online class but watching her recorded lectures and making sure you use the guidelines for the CE and writing assignments is important. She makes the class stress-free & enjoyable just meet the deadlines. The tests are open notes too which is nice.
I loved Professor Reyna's government class. She is very passionate when it comes to government and real-life issues we are facing today. I highly recommend taking her class because of how much time you have to turn in assignments and take tests. It is tough to get a lousy grade, trust me.
Reyna was a great professor! I found her to be refreshing. I love talking about politics and this class made me want to learn more. I hope to take her class again. She also really cares about students, like others have said. It was nice to have a professor who was passionate about the subject and her students too.
I'm not sure why others have not mentioned how all over the place her syllabus is - it was a bit much and for as long as it was, I don't think a lot of it was very clear. This was an online course and there's no working ahead which I found strange. This class was necessary for my major so I probably won't have to worry about taking her again.
has anyone mentioned Ms. Reyna's lectures? I took her online class and loved her recorded videos. they helped me study. I also found the class to have clear expectations. Ms. Reyna communicated with me quickly and was very helpful outside of class. I would recommend her to others, even though I am not fond of govt.
I wish one thing Professor Reyna did was simplify her syllabus. Her syllabus was so hard to understand. She also takes forever to grade things. Her assignments are relatively easy, I would recommend taking notes while watching lectures. Due to her lectures containing the answer to her test.
I was excited to take this course because of the good reviews & she seemed enthusiastic about the topic, but I ended up hating this class. She would say it was your responsibility to reach out (which is fair) but was terrible about responding to emails! She lacked any kind of flexibility & it took her forever to grade assignments.
The professor has videos of her lectures we can watch, which help with studying. She also gave us podcasts to study - use those and you're aces. I liked this learning method. I spoke with her a few times and I liked her, she was easy to talk to. I wish she taught US class, I'd definitely take her class again.
Very strict on using her textbook/lecture as a source for open response questions on exams but deducts points if it sounds too different or too close. Confusing. Attendance is mandatory. Announcements were sporadic and unorganized. Grades extremely slowly and responds slowly to messages. The only positive is that she extends deadlines.
Love love love this class. It was fun and engaging. I hope to take Reyna in the future. I'm surprised by some of the other reviews. If you use the podcasts for the tests and turn in your work it's not a hard class! Tests are open book. I liked that too.
I'm not good at this subject but this class was not hard. You do need to listen to her recorded lectures and take notes to use on the tests. They're about an hour long and usually 2 lectures each test, but you need to make time for them! There are 4 DB, 4 tests, and 2 CE projects. The projects were easier than I thought. The syllabus was also clear
If you want to take a class that challenges you but also is fun, take her. If you go to class, listen to her lectures , and do the work - A! This is a college class so I expected to have some boring papers to write. I loved the Current Events project, it was fun to do something different! I'm now into podcasts!
I strongly recommend taking her class. She worked with her students is needed. Gave her lectures with PP's. Class work consisted of DB's x 4, CE's x2, 4 Tests that were open book. I would take another class with her. Again she worked with you if needed. You can't go wrong with her. She knows her stuff. She help write the book she lectures from.
Professor Reyna was a great teacher that truly cares about both Texas Government and her students. The grading criteria was clear and she was a forgiving grader with opportunities to miss an assignment without docked points. Reading the textbook and reviewing the powerpoints are vital to passing on tests. Would take a class of hers again.
Prof. Reyna had a great class! I learned a lot about Tex. government and the class discussions made it interesting. Textbook was an ebook that was included in the tuition I paid, which was good, made it one less thing to worry about. I wish Prof. Reyna taught more classes, I would take her again. A+ class.
Prof. Reyna is a great professor! She explained everything so well, went into detail, and gave examples. I learned a lot about Tex. government. The textbook was an ebook that was included in the tuition I paid, which was good, and made it one less thing to worry about. I wish Prof. Reyna taught more classes, I would take her again. A+ class.
Took the online 5 week course and it was so straight-forward! 4 tests which all came from the lecture videos and podcasts, 2 discussion board assignments and 1 current event assignment. Non-test assignments seemed practically completion based, and all expectation were made clear in the syllabus.
I took her Texas class in the spring. I loved it. She was easygoing and made me want to attend classes. Attendance is required, but she was understanding when I had a family situation, so she will work with students. We had fun discussions in class for extra credit. I really learned a lot about government. Great prof!
Takes a while grading assignments which gets very anxiety inducing. Tough discussion grader, her feedback comes off a little harsh. Test short answers are very tough, was never able to give her a good answer.
The class was a great class. I enjoyed the assignments. I learned a great deal from Professor Reyna's lectures. She had video lectures that I used to study for the tests. I also enjoyed the podcast she gave us to study for the tests. It helped outline what areas I needed to review. I liked that she sent text messages to remind us of due dates.
I had Reyna's Spring hybrid tx class. I'm a working mom, so this class was setup perfectly for me. We met once a week and the rest of the time we worked at home or online. Reyna is a thoughtful instructor. The lectures, podcast study guides, tests, and assignments were well balanced. I managed them without problems on top of a job and kids.
As long as you watch the lectures and take good notes, absolute walk in the park. Takes some time to listen to lectures so I suggest turning on 2x speed and closed captions. When she says something like "take note", make sure to write it down for a short answer question. Needs to respond to emails better but aside from that good course and prof.
Difficult class, with 500 word minimum discussion boards and two projects related to current events as well as the tests. As long as you take notes on her lectures and pay attention to what she''s teaching, you'll be fine. She's very understanding but also knows what she's doing. Needs to respond to emails better, though.
Had a good summer class. I am not a fan of discussion boards because I don't like writing, but hers were not hard. I had a lot of questions and the professor answered them quickly. I liked having communication options of email and texting. I found the book easy to follow along with lectures and power-points.
Reyna's class this past year was one of my fave classes at ACC. I was surprised at some of the comments here, overall I found prof reyna to be easy to speak to and I thoroughly enjoyed the class dynamic. Our class met once a week in person which made the time in class even better in some ways. I liked making my podcast and thankful for Reyna's help
Summer online class: lectures on black board helped me prep notes for tests. I wish there a few more extra credits. Pace of the class in terms of assignments & readings was good. She is tough, but I found her to be fair.
Enjoyed Professor Reyna, she was great at lectures that made me want to learn more about government. We had some great discussions. There was open book tests. Her podcasts were great for studying. Overall, I would highly recommend this professor.
Taking this class as a hybrid course - meet once a week in person & half online. I enjoy it. I love the setup of the class and enjoy Prof Reyna's lectures. I'm going to take more hybrid courses as long as they teach like Prof Reyna. She is great
Professor Reyna was by far the best professor at ACC. I took her at HLC. We had several small group assignments for extra credit. I loved the discussions we had!
Mrs Reyna had a great class. I recommend this class.
The class is straightforward, but you have to follow her instructions as she has a way she wants your work submitted. If you need help giet with Prof. Reyna, the earlier the better, & she will work with you to do well. She's funny, she' easy to speak with, & I enjoyed our many conversations. She's truly the best. ::: )
(asynchronous class) this class was self paced, but this professor is a severe grader for online students. I studied well and healthy for each exam and journal entry , but I still did not always do well. She provides extra credit, but is pretty severe with grading on the journal entries. WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING (PPTs, PODCASTS, and TXTBOOK)
I was not a fan of this teacher. She is a ridiculously tough grader, there's 4 tests and 4 journal entries for the 5 wk summer class. Did not provide helpful feedback, all answers come from either the book, her pre-recorded lectures, or the podcast and even then the answers aren't clear.
ENjoyed this class. It was a tough class, but I learned a lot from Reyna. She was helpful when I was having trouble with some of my journals. I liked how clear her instructions were. Great class!
Hadn't taken a gov class since H.S. Professor Reyna was fun and i learned a lot during this class in a short time. I wish I had taken her class during fall semester in person. This a good class!
Took this class as a fully asynchronous course during the summer and I couldn't recommend it enough. The tests have very specific questions, but that's because it's entirely open book and note, and the real study and learning process comes from finding the information you need. Definitely an easier class, but thought provoking.
If you are Ok with zero feedback on test and accusations of using AI for answers. she is the perfect professor for you. Take any feedback on the journals and use it. She is a very slow grader and her lectures longer than needed. Points deduct if questions are answered differently from only what the book says or added information not in the book.
Podcasts were great! They helped so much with the tests. I enjoyed listening to her lectures. Plus, the journal entries were interesting and made me think about the material in a different way. Great class. I hope to take Ms. Reyna again.
She is great overall. Not bad just do the assignment and follow her instructions carefully when submitting your work on BB. She gives a few extra credit opportunities, very easy so do them if she offers them. Listen to her lectures you get the majority of the test questions from there. I took a 5-week summer course, 4 Journal Entries, and 4 Tests.
I took the online GOV2306 this summer with Professor Reyna. If you watched the online lectures, read the textbook and listened to the podcast, you can find all the information you need for all the assignments. I really enjoyed Professor Reyna's lectures and found them interesting. She responded to messages via Remind and was helpful.
She is very unforgiving and is not a good professor
As someone with sensory issues, it was stressful being in class bcuz she will lecture at the top of her lungs (yelling) for no reason, given how small the room. Her tests/podcasts were set up for her online class and wouldnt line up with what we covered in class. some test questions/journal entries were hard to answer because we hadn't gone over it
CONS: weird policies: students can't work together or collaborate on notes, etc; tough grader; doesn't clearly communicate what she is looking for; Extra credit can be inaccessible; VERY slow grader; nonresponsive to test/grade reviews. PROS: The lectures are informative, tests are open book.
Lots of homework and assignments but grades came a month or later with little to no feedback. It was week 8 or 9 before we received grades on our first exams because of written portions. Professor may have too much workload to appropriately give feedback. It is the last week of the semester and we have only received grades on 3 assignments.
She was very informative, but I think her teaching style isn't suitable for me.
Professor Reyna was my favorite. She made jokes and it was fun to have roundtable discussions about different political issues! Professor Reyna was passionate about government. It was refreshing.I told several friends to take her!!
I had taken her class over the summer, but had to unexpectedly drop. I'm back cause Reyna's class is pretty straightfoward. She's working with me. It's really nice to have a caring instructor. I'm a government major, I really appreciate her way of lecturing. She includes anecdotes to help us remember. THanks for the podcasts to study for tests.
Online course. It is a fairly easy course, with journal entries and 4 tests; however, she does not grade things on time. It's the end of the semester, and I still don't have a grade for multiple assignments—or overall. You have to watch the lectures (even tho they are useless, unrelated rants). No outside sources, no AI; pretty strict about it.
do NOT take this prof. never graded anything until literally the last 3 days AFTER the semester had already ended. and still had high expectations for attendance. total hypocrite about submitting things on time when she couldn't even grade assignments in a timely manner and was always late for her own class.
Professor Reyna was great, I really enjoyed her class! The textbook is lengthy and the lectures are long, but as long as you put in the work you will be fine. My class had 4 tests, all open note. She gives constructive feedback on journal entries which is nice. Would definitely take her class again.
She posted lecture videos that are ok but were recorded many years ago. She should've recorded new lecture videos. She cuts points in tests, still don't know why. It takes more than a month to grade journal entries. She may be so good at teaching, but she definitely needs to learn how to use blackboard and other online tools.
Professor Reyna was great! Though there aren't very many assignments, they are fairly easy to get a good grade on as long as you read the relevant chapter/watch lecture and turn in on time. Tests are all open book/note (no lockdown browser) and she gives great feedback! She is a very slow grader, but also very communicative and open to discussion.
Great class. I loved this online asychronous class with Mrs. Reyna. Anytime I texted or email she'd get back to me ASAP. I loved doing the Pro/Con Presentation - I got to discuss an issue that meant a lot to me. I know have an appreciation for Texas government. Mrs. Reyna was easy to speak with and cared about helping me.
Summer classes are not my favorite, yet Professor Reyna's was good. I didn't care for the journal entries. However, I really liked that the tests were open book n open note w/help podcasts made the tests much easier. She made us signup for text app that i didn't care for, but then she'd send out texts to remind us of deadlines which helped a lot.
Took the 5 week session, and it was easy theres 4 tests, 4 journal entries, and 1 presentation which was fun. The tests are open book but the questions are based on the book or recorded lectures. The answers aren't hard to find!
Had a negative experience with this professor. Expectations felt strict and inconsistent. I lost points for writing too much, even when answers were correct. Feedback was limited and grading was delayed. While I understand she has many students, her tone and approach felt discouraging and unhelpful.
Great online class, I wish I could've taken in-person during fall or spring. I had to take this for the nursing program. I learned a lot. I enjoyed the way Reyna had her class setup. I liked that she wrote the textbook. She always got back to my emails quickly and she communicated well with our class.
Reyna was fair. it was nice not to have a professor biased. she was good at communicating with us. i wish there wasn't an attendance policy but it kept me in check plus we got extra credit points for coming. didn't like journals, loved the presentation. loved the podcasts for the tests, really helped a lot.
Every other sentence she speaks in lecture is about how terrible white Christian men are. Every other page in the textbook talks about racism. I get it's important to the history of Texas govt but I think the issue was talked about excessively and as a Christian it felt very hostile. She means well though, and the class is well structured.
Prof. Reyna is a great professor with clear, easy-to-follow slides. Journal entries require specific writing. Tests are long but doable. Grading can be delayed, but extra credit is frequent. Assignments/tests can't be redone. Overall, a great instructor I would take her again.
Absolutely loved her, great lectures, super clear rubrics, very helpful, encourages discussion and questions, tests are open note and open textbook( you still need to attend lectures and study because a lot of test questions are answered in class) she's super kind and all around an amazing teacher!
