Very friendly man, unless you disrupt his class, then he'll embarrass you

Great teacher, he puts up marks for tests the same day that you write them!

holy sh*t his Russian accent is cool! =P hard to understand sometimes though
Russian accent and loves saying... BY DEFINITION!
Great teacher. Can't complain at all
Cool accent, quite clear, overall an entertaining math teacher
by definition...he is very cool...^^
he is very good
He is very very very good.
Good prof. Sample midterms and finals almost exactly the same as real exam
Too mellow, too easy to get a good grade!
Cheezy (pretends to be stupid) but effective teaching style. Thick Russian accent does not hinder teaching ability.

okay guys, it's a bosnian accent...but aside from that, i found him to be pretty fair - and the samples for the exams were pretty much the same as the exams!
By Definition "Don't talk in his class, or you will be very very sorry "
Great workshop co-ordinator
I think he is a great, methodic, well prepared and skillfull professor and his explanations are remarkless. He is great both as coordinator and as a teacher.

he's good in letting you know where your mistaeks are and point you in the right direction, good prof, nice teaching style. didn't mind the accent
Jungic is an awesome guy and an awesome professor. He's always willing to take the time to help you after class. He's even held "mini-lectures" in his office when a group of us don't understand a concept. The course was very hard. The exam was e
Incredibly great prof! This could have been the worst math course ever, but instead he made it one of the best. Midterms were pretty easy, but the final was quite a bit more difficult. Take courses with him if you want to really know what you're doing.
Excellent prof. He has a passion for Math that makes a course that could be as boring and arduous as 242 deeply interesting. I hope to have him in the future
Dr. Jungic is such an excellent professor! He is patient and always willing to offer help to his students. He is also very funny and made going to math a pleasure! His exams are fair and really tries to prepare you. Anyone who gets him is VERY lucky.
His sample midterm is exactly the same as the real one.
Without a doubt, I can say that Dr. Jungic is one of the best professors I've ever had at SFU. He is passionate about what he teaches and takes the time to explain things. I would recommend taking any course taught by him.

Excellent prof. Explains everything very clear, notes are simple and are available for us to print. Very helpful in Math Centre and online discussions. Patient with students. Really wants us to know the material.
He is great prof. He will make maths interesting for people, who hate math, just like me.

Great teacher, trie to be comical when he can. He makes things very clear and answers questions very well even in lecture. Definately recomend him for anyone.
he's the best prof i had so far!! his notes r easy to follow & he answers students' questions in lecture clearly. His sample midterms r almost identical to the real midterms. It's DEFINTELY a good choice to choose him as ur prof for math!
exce llent prof. Funny accent, entertaining classes. Great.
He's a nice and funny guy, but this is not an easy course (it would still be not easy regardless of who's the prof)~ I am not so good in math, so I shouldn't blame him for getting low marks and failing one of my midterms. Overall, great guy!
He makes math alot of fun. Midterms were a little tricky but if you go over his sample midterms you will do just fine. He is also very quick at answering back to you if you send him an email with your concerns.
he is a funny guy, and this course can be easy for you. BUT, if you did not take calculus12 in highschool, then it is gonna be a hard course.make sure that you are ready for this course.
Very good professor. The midterms were fair and the workload was reasonable. 2 Thumbs up!
I had tried taking Calculus in high school and had dropped it 1/2way cos I was so lost and failing. This course is not easy, there's alot of material, but Prof. Jungic made everything very very clear and he's very entertaining and attentive to students. =)
Although I hate calculas, I must say that Prof. Jungic was a very good teacher. He responds to emails quickly, helps out on the online discussions, and is overall a very helpful teacher!
What a great teacher. He's helpful, informative, nice and down to earth...also, if u haven't taken calc before, don't be intimidated, it's bs...i got a B and i got a low b in math 12...as long as u do the sample midterms and listen in lecture, u'll ace it
Excellent teacher. He is really good at explaining, helps out students on his own time and interacts very well with students.
Dr. J is a super good prof who genuinely cares about his students and their progress. He is an enthusiastic and energetic lecturer and a very approachable person. And just because you're in a class of 500, don't think that you will be anonymous b/c Jungic WILL approach and talk to you at least once.
umm.. great teacher, funny, with sexy accent. I guess if you have taken calc12 in highschool, you will enjoy his class. You don't really want to take his class if it's calc is first time for u. He tends to make mistakes often, which causes some confusion. But overall, i liked the prof very much.
He's a very helpful prof--posts plenty of past midterms and gives practice midterms for download. Gives notes on what to study for and answers his emails almost immediately. Practice midterms are the almost the same as the real ones but expect to do it a lot faster on the real thing.
Veselin is a great professor, he really cares about teaching and making sure his students learn calculus. The tests and the marks are fair too. But for the love of God, before you go to his class, turn off your cell and don't start writing a test until he says so. And that's when you say ahhh!
this prof is realli realli realli realli gooooooood! funny jokes, midterms are similar to the sample ones, final isnt too bad, friendly and approachable. must take math 157 with this prof!
He was great. He made a hard course an interesting one. Very helpful.Have you seen his hot hot hot green eyes? They are so kind.
easy midterm/final,just do the practice midterm/final and u will do GREAT on ur actual one.it's hard to understand what he is trying to say at first but u will get used to it eventually.don't skip any lecture they are helpful.the workshop is USELESS.i just go there to hand in my homework every week.
best prof in math~!
He makes math fun!
THE BEST PROF IN SFU!!!!! His notes are great!!! His accent makes u wanna listen!!! The best part of him is: HE WOULD RUN THE STAIRS TO TELL PPL TO SHUT UP!!! so don't talk in his class!
He is a great teacher. Extremely caring and helpful. Clear and concise.
very good prof, sometimes makes mistakes..
Best prof at SFU - he somehow made me understand calculus!
great teacher, real passion for the subject. if youre "lucky" he'll show you his pride and joy "math girl"
Amazing math prof. Enough said
Jungic is just about the best prof around. He may have an accent, but he's one of the few profs around who still gives a crap about his students. He once pulled over to drive my friend up the hill to SFU because my friend was late & it was raining. He's always helping out in the assignment labs and he will sit there til u get it. Whatta guy.
Took this a couple semesters ago with him. Awesome prof. Notes are very clear. He is nominated for Excellence in Teaching this year.
not a prof for you if you havent taken calculus before. he expects you to come in with so much knowledge, rather than teaching it too you. dont take this class with no experience. it will be a waste of your time and money
He makes the notes very simple and easy to understand. His exam questions are just a little bit harder, very fair exams though. He has a bit of accent but it's understandable and he is very willing to help.
An amazing prof! He actually reads people's online comments and helps. He's exams are just like the practice exams he gives. He's very funny and very passionate. He answers questions and the TA's are really helpful. This class requires work but the hard work definitely pay off. One of my favourite profs! Only annoyance is the "WHICH is the same as"
Not a bad prof. His midterms and finals are same as the samples. =]. but his english is sometimes funny.
Hilarious prof. Good structure to his lecture notes. Midterms and Exams are the same as sample midterms. Really passionate and caring. He loves what he's teaching and it really shows.
He is a great professor and his midterms are very similar to his real midterms but the final was tough! His sample final was similar to his final, but there were some q's which were just a lot harder than his midterm q's. No calculators are allowed, so its harder to study when most q's in the book require a calculator.
he's a very nice person and he knows his stuff. Midterm is ok but final is way too hard. You need to work very hard to get a decent mark if you have never taken calculus before
Funny teacher, sounds really cool. Sample midterms are very similar to actual midterms and are not too hard, but the final was much more difficult compared to them.
Calculus prof with a sense of humor. Very dedicated, cares that the students learn in his lectures. If I ever get a change I'd definitely take another one of his classes!
friendly prof. has printout notes that you go over and fill in during lectures. midterm Qs are given on midterm review lec printouts. fill them in during lecture and you'll do fine. final is heavy on definitions.
he's awesome. the course is definitely NOT easy. but he actually cares how his students do. awesome prof
He has an awesome teaching style, although expects you to know a ton before Calc I (which I also took with him). Some assignments are brutal, some are way too easy. But in person he is very kind and caring and in class he can be hilarious. I actually enjoy class at 8:30am. Not many profs can do that to a student!
Excellent Prof. Willing to go over any unclear questions. Midterms and finals are easy because he makes a sample exam for you, and then the actual exam is just a slight modification of the sample one.
Never got anything from his lectures... But overall not a bad guy. Except that he offered bonus marks to the highest graded students if they gave him worked solutions to sample final problems. Not exactly high on ethics.
He's a great professor because his lectures are interesting, his paper and online assignments are fair and relate directly to his lectures and the book and the final exam and sample are almost exactly the same... so study them hard and you should do well!
Excellent professor.
best calculus prof I've had so far, funny too! with his "what is the same as" and his love for math (math girl). He has his own lecture notes and goes over examples of questions and how to do them during the lecture. GOOD notes. make sure you go to lectures and take those notes. never bored in class :)
What can I say?? He's not bad as long as you keep on asking questions on stuff you don't know. However, one bad thing about him is that he talks a bit too loud sometimes...makes me go deaf in my ears so I decided to sit a little further during lectures. His midterms are pretty hard.
I took the course in Spring 2007. Good prof as his notes are useful. It is highly recommended to attend the lectures as his notes are very useful. Some of the paper assignments are difficult, and the online assigments promoted learning. The final difficulty varies, but luckily his sample is representative of the exam. Study his sample exams.
he's a great prof. notes relate exactly to assignments and exams. tries to make calculus interesting (sounds impossible but he can help). Make sure to keep with the material and you will do just fine. I had 151 and 152 with him, 152 was def. much harder but i ended up with an A-, only because of his teaching ways!
Oh wow, an enthusiastic, helpful math professor. This guy is amazing.
memorise practice exams
He is an awesome prof. All his notes and lectures are coordinated very well. He is great help when you ask him questions and he definitely knows his stuff well. Make sure you do the assigned questions!
This guy is an great professor. He's enthusiastic and helpful... even at 8:30 in the morning.
Amazing Teacher, it was a pleasure to be in his class. He was funny, enthusiastic and even though he was way to smart to be teaching the intro to math course I was taking, he was always excited about it. Brilliant man, his jokes were great and he is a class act. He was fantasic. 10/10.
One of the best profs I have ever had. He knows students by name in a class of over 100. Very approachable and a genuinely nice guy. Use his practice exams to prepare for the midterms and final.
A great man. Very passionate about his subject, and cares about his students. Won SFU Excellence in Teaching Award in 2007 and he deserves it! Bumped me up from a D to a C- so I could progress to MATH 152 without having to retake 151. Will allow final to be worth 80% if you did poorly on midterms. Make sure you understand his practice exams!
Awesome teacher, his jokes are stupid...seriously...
I LOVE this man, he is soo funny,,and the notes are extremly helpfull if you understand the lec it'll very easy for u to catch up,, his exame are fair and it's like the sample ,so make sure that u understand the sample-exame very well!!
he kept me awake for every single lecture at 8:30 am for 2 semesters! i didn't think it was possible. I got a B in 151 and an A- in 152, he is an awesome and the open labs are SUCH a big help. His practice exams are VERY similar to the actual ones. *two thumbs up*
!!DEFINATELY RECOMMENDED!!
very passionate about math, somewhat organized schedule, online assignment are somewhat tricky and paper assignment somewhat trickier. MT were FAIR, practice MT and MT were VERY similar and lets u know in advance what to study. HATES laptops, don't let him see u with a laptop in his lecture. Definitely Recommended
Very funny prof, passionate about mathematics and tries to influence his students as well to take the same interest. EXTREMELY energetic esp. at 830am! Gives sample midterms that are fairly similar to the real ones, so no surprises really. No laptop in lecture unless you're at the back--he doesn't like how it distracts others. BY DEFINITION! haha
DEFINATELY RECOMMEND!!! He is very passionate about the subject, energetic at 8:30 in the morning and very willing to help.
Just Take It. You'll love it
Great prof... Especially for the early classes. He always has energy and gets your interest in the class and material he is teaching. During the semester i took this course, It was the only course where i did not skip a single class of even though it was at 8:30 AM... It was by far my favorite class. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PROF!!!
Best prof ever. Very passionate about what he teaches. Approachable, willing to help. Replied my email within 5 minutes.
So far, best prof I've had. He loves to teach, and really wants to educate the class. Plus, he showed us Math Girl on Youtube which was so funny. Definitely recomment as prof.
One of the best math profs at SFU. His lectures are great. As long as you study for the exams, you'll do fine. Sometimes Jungic is hilarious eg "The thing with math is... You never really understand it. You just get used to it." =D
Dr. J is God. Nuff said.
Dr. J is awesome. His lectures are really interesting, and he's a very dedicated teacher.
He is so passionate that he pretty much yells his entire lectures which is good because at 8:30 in the morning, you wont fall asleep. His exams are exactly like the samples so if you know how to do those, you wont fail!!!
What a great guy, he WILL keep you awake during your 8:30 math class, even if the subject may bore you. His midterms are almost IDENTICAL to his samples, except perhaps a few numbers changed around. Homework load is very fair, since papers are usually 2~3 questions each. Best if all, he can make extremely hilarious comments - in class or lon-capa
Excellent prof, especially for a morning class. Super friendly and helpful when you needed. The most dedicated math prof you'll ever find. I would definately take another math course with him. Like said, exams are pretty much like his practice ones, so study that and find similar questions in the text and practice, then you'll be just fine.
yea,he really is a good prof, and YES, MT1,MT2,Final are identical to the samples...but the class avg isn't very high, avg final 54%, so if u r just taking this course for "fun" (not really loving math), think about it twice before u enroll!Otherwise, do every Q on the txt book!it would be better if u have the 5th one, i think he uses Qs from 5th.
Just like all the other comments; he IS the BEST. Very organized and clear and interested in the topics. He is not a boring prof. mid terms and final are just like the sample.
He's organized and very fair. Samples are identical to midterms and exam so master those when prepping. Go to lectures, the notes are so useful. He can make you laugh too.
He is the best educator I've ever had. No wonder he won toty. You will walk out of his lectures confident that you know the material. His exams are virtually the same as his samples. Most importantly, if you study and work hard, you will do well in his class! Guaranteed! I got an A- and I didn't even pass the calculus readiness test.
very very very very fun teacher and very very very very nice.
Let's just say when the average on a midterm is a fail, something's not right...
he is an awsome prof, keeps you awake 830 in the morning. However, his test are VERY LONG, no one finished it in 50 mins. The class avg was 14/30, even though the midterm was similar to the sample. He expect you to know your stuff,eg.definitions WORD by WORD(paragraph).over all, he's a good prof, just the midterm is NOT FAIR.
worst prof in this whole universe
Best prof of all time. Period. I've had a lot of profs over the years, so that's saying something. If you see him during his office hours, or workshop hours, he'll patiently break it down for you until you understand - no matter what your level is.
love him for his lectures, hate him for his tests!
good prof and knows how to teach. he expects you to know every single detail from whatever the pre-requisite course was. high expectations on students. hard assignments and midterms/final.
He is the best proffesor i have ever seen. while his midterms may not be easy, but the way he teaches you, it is amazing, He is the BEST.
I didn't learn as much from the lectures. Taught myself 90% of the course. He makes lectures interesting, but he goes too fast and tends to skip questions to save time. Tests are VERY hard. Class ave. for the two midterms were 46% and 51%. Homework assignments were very hard too, and usually marked unfairly.
Fair proff, extremely helpful and really realy enjoys teaching. your in good hands if he is teaching.
Its a tough course but u wont find a better and dedicated prof than him for this subject. makes u work really hard for the assignments & midterms and marking is extremely harsh. But all is made up in the final grade to be a just reward for your efforts.BEST FEATURE: Comprehensive online support (notes & practice material) KEY 2 SUCCESS: study group
By definition Veselin Jungic is the number one professor. Best professor I have had so far at SFU. "This is a good news."
it is not a very tricky business that out of the ~40 profs i've had, he's the best.
Dr. Jungic is truly a gift from the heavens! Calculus I is not an easy course and having it at 8:30 am makes it all the more the harder - however, Dr. Jungic has approached every lecture a sense of charisma that can make one excited about learning math! He really cares about students and it clearly shines through!
Very enthusiastic professor! He always worked to keep his class focused and entertained. He took the time to go through smaller details that other professors would overlook or assume you already know. Only negative comment: if you are not acing the course, and go to meet with him, he will not be nice at all. He has made multiple people cry
I've always hated math, until i took calc 1 with him. He's THE best prof i ever had. Really helpful, gets to know the students. All in all. Awesome prof
Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Math. His enthusiasm is infectious. His tests are extremely fair and definitely related to his hw. Attend his lectures, do his hw, and your efforts will be rewarded. Definitely recommend.
I had him for Math 150 online. He was knowledgeable for sure, but made many simple mistakes that threw me off for a few minutes, making me miss new things he was teaching because he was say adding instead of subtracting.
I hated and avoided math before Dr. J's class. Now I enjoy it... "This is a good news!" He is enthusiastic and encouraging to students. Best prof I've had at SFU
Final was satanically hard, beyond anything in the class. His sloppy handwriting and sloppy words are maddening. He is better than most math teachers, though.
Best prof at SFU. Extremely helpful, teaches at the right pace and explains everything. Welcomes in-class questions. Holds regular office hours and is very approachable. He's very friendly too.
I started to do better in the class when I stopped trying to take notes from his mess. Attend only to find out what he covers/expects. Learn from the book and youtube. Unless you are a true mathematician like him, better take this with ANYONE ELSE. Too much (fake?) drama in the class, as well. "Nice," but not really helpful.
Crazy prof and obstinate,
really passionate about math
Final didn't test many "must know" items, but complex applications worth 10% of exam each were either proof-like or based on some obscure geometry we only saw once (triangles). 30% of final was off-base and too-hard, did not really relate to the homework or Loncapa. If you are not a mathematician at heart, stay away.
Best prof ever. He loves teaching. Midterms/Finals may be hard but they are scaled so don't worry.
Without a doubt, the best professor I've had.
The best prof ever! So polite and go to his office hours, he will NEVER disappoint you. Awesome notes and nice lectues. I don't need any more MATH courses but I will take them as electives if he teaches them. MTs / Finals may be hard but they will be scaled.
excellent prof, exams and midterms very reasonable and he was very willing to help any problems students had
He knows what he is doing. Classes are interesting .His assignments are long (really long). Midterms and finals are fair. He does not scale. Great prof overall.
Very Easy Exams
Assignments are time comsuming but not really hard. His midterms are easy since sample midterms are given. However, the final is killer. KNOWING HOW TO DISTINGUISH AND SOLVE DIFFERENT KINDS OF EQUATION IS ESSENTIAL!!!
He is genuinely helpful to his students and an awesome prof. I was missing lectures due to personal issues and failing the exams, and he understood and gave me extra help during office hours. I found his notes organized and easy to follow, and attending lecture is a must (though it doesn't help that math lectures are 8:30am 3 days a week).
It was my best luck ever to do the course with professor Jungic. He has the real insight into material and readily shares it with you. Always helps and inspires. I fell in love with Math because he shown me its beauty.
Veselin is a really nice guy. He teaches well too. His notes and pre recorded lectures were a big help. Exams are fair, no big surprises, however they are very different from the practice tests he gives.
Awesome prof. If you need help he is there to welcome you into his office and go over anything you do not understand. Exams were pretty challenging, but nothing special. Very, VERY fair grader.
the class is fun and even has group project. dont be scared, the projects are drawing comics, dances, writing songs...
He is an amazing professor. Midterm exams are hard but will help you succeed in the course and do well in the final. My favourite professor at SFU so far
Honestly, one of the best profs I've had at SFU. His lectures go by very quickly and his explanations are clear and concise. If you don't understand something, he'll make sure you do. Really there for you and is always offering help to his students whether in office hours or the algebra workshop! Super sweet, adorable and amazing!
Very helpful friendly and approachable. No tricks up his sleeves, will tell you what you need to know. Loves when people ask questions, so don't be shy to. Gives sample exams before each one but without the solutions. Theres clicker participation. There's weekly quizzes based off the homework he assigns and also easy loncapa. DON'T BE LATE TO CLASS
I took Math 100 before with Nancy Khalil and failed it... she would rush through problems without explaining clearly. But now I'm really understanding the material thanks to professor Jungic's lectures. He's able to explain things in a way the average person who isn't strongest in math can understand. An excellent teacher and really helpful
This noble man goes above and beyond for his students. Available almost every day for 23 hours for help. Lectures are extremely intuitive, he knows exactly what the level our class is at and adjust accordingly. Put my math career back on track. If you have him, be grateful and PRACTICE REGULARLY. Very fair marker.
Has him for Math 100 as well. He explains things very clearly and if you don't understand it still, he'll go over it again till you do. He also heavily encourages questions and participation. Before each exam, he gives you a practice exam that's VERY representative of the one he'll give on exam day, so you should know what to expect.
Favourite prof so far. He rewards hard work, and does his best to explain even the simplest concepts so that everyone is on the same page. He even cared to learn the names of half the class! Tip: study the practice exams he gives, as the questions are identical to the real exams. They even had some of the same values.
The best professor I've had. Lectures are organized and clear. Very encouraging and willing to help anyone who is willing to ask. He was available for plenty of office and tutorial hours. His expectations are high, but he is very fair.
Taught my MATH100 class. An absolute badass at math. He usually teaches upper level mathematics but took FALL2016 to teach MATH100. Teaches with dedication. Does his best to make sure you understand, especially during office hours. Extremely approachable, caring and dedicated. If you have any questions, email him, set a time to meet him.
Dr. Jungic is an exceptional professor. Extremely kind, extremely caring, always available to help. His exams were practically identical to his practices, so make sure to go over that and understand the questions because some are basically copied and pasted into the exams. Weekly quizzes are identical to homework from the textbook, not his lecture.
Prof is difficult to understand. Horrible handwriting and unclear notes.
The best math proffessor I have ever had. He cares more than anybody else about his students and giving you whatever help you need to pass. Seriously, give him a minute of your time and he will do everything to teach you. long assignments, but TONS of sample midterms/finals, study the additional q's on the quizzes, they basically make up the final.
Exceptional professor. Very knowledgeable, cares about students' success, fair marker. Explains complex ideas in a clear way. His course is not designed for you to fail as long as you put the effort in and practice on your own time, you will do well and learn a lot. Like all math courses you need to keep up with the material. Highly recommend!
Dr.J is truly just amazing and you can feel that he cares about the students. I have nothing bad about him to say. I took math 100 to get ready for 157 and it definitely helps. He gave exams that are very much the same as practice exams that are composed of old exams, maybe it is only in Math 100, but maybe not. I wish he is teaching Math 157 now!!
Respectable professor with fair exams, good lectures, and very generous office hours. If you're taking MATH 100 with him, just got to lectures, do the assignments, and do every question on his sample exams (almost identical to his real exams) and you'll do just fine. Dr. J's MATH 100 class is great primer for MATH150/154/157, definitely recommend.
He is one of the best prof/ teacher I've ever had, if you have the option to be his student- take it! He's very caring and if you ever need help he is always there. I recommened getting to know this prof bc he is a true gem of SFU. Keep up with your work and always ask for help when you need to and you will most likely end up with a decent mark.
One of the best profs at SFU, he explains questions clearly and in a very detailed way, the only downside is that his writing is kinda messy. He's responses E-mails, and available at math workshop after class, and office the second hour.
He is very passionate about math and teaching. Very excited when teaching which rubs off on you when you his attend class. By the end of the first midterm he knows everyone's name by heart. He is a fair grader, gives you sample questions ahead of time to prepare for the midterms and exams. He is literally one of the best prof I have ever had
The best prof i've had to date. You can tell he cares about teaching. Quizzes and midterms are fairly easy if you do the weekly assignments and practice midterms. He's approachable and very kind to all his students. Take math 152 with him!!!
Dr. Jungic truly has a passion for teaching math, and his love of his chosen subject area is contagious. Although the course I took with him was challenging, his humour and desire to help his students succeed made the course enjoyable. Aside from his sometimes confusing explainations, hes a great prof who wants the best for his students.
Excellent teacher! He loves what he is doing and cares about doing it well. Exams are fair if you pay attention to the material he provides. Very enthusiastic and encourages questions. Makes himself easily available outside class for extra help to those that need it. Very highly recommended.
Math dept has started introducing same exam for all sections of the same course. So first thing you do is to find out if he's writing the midterm/final exams or someone else. If he's the one doing it, then I cannot stress enough how important it is to start early on his sample exams. Make sure you are very comfortable with them & ask for help early
Arguably the best prof I've had at SFU. He makes his lectures engaging and from the minute you walk in you can tell he's super passionate about calculus even after like 40 years of teaching. The material hasn't been too bad and he warns us of hard questions that will be on exams. Only downside is his handwriting is an absolute disaster to read tho
dr. j was my professor for both MATH 150 and MATH 152. we often spoke outside of class and i felt honoured that 2/3 through the first semester, he remembered my name. he solely cares about his students, is understanding, and really passionate about math. he is also charmingly hilarious! i hope to take more classes with him.
One of the most amazing math prof you will ever see.
He's a very caring man, he makes sure you understand the material. Very interactive with students. Engaging. Worth coming to class, even if you don't think you're passing.
MATH 152 is a really hard course, content-wise, but Dr. J makes it much less painful than it could be. He's always willing to help students outside class, and if you get to know him, he'll really go the extra mile to make sure you succeed. Do all the web assign questions, as weekly quizzes are identical to assigned questions. Worth going to Surrey!
He is very awsome and friendly, his lecture notes are well coordinated. The tutorials are helpful and his exams are so-so.
A very wholesome influence on the youth.
Good Teacher, a little dull tries to be funny, very nice guy, would take again for future calc classes. Quiz every Friday, Calculus Hw every week, there are online questions plus paper questions. 2 questions on the quiz, and you get 10 minutes; sometimes these are difficult. Also two midterms, first midterm is typically 3 weeks after class starts
Very engaging lecture, very open to questions. Hands down one of my favorite professors thus far. He always talks to the students in the first couple of rows before class. If you feel like you would need help sit up front and ask him stuff.
Fantastic professor, he tries to remember everyones name during seminars, and gives good feedback. His office hours are great when you're struggling. Calc 1 is a tough course, and he tries his best to ensure that you study and practice for exams. Overall, a great professor, I would definitely take the course again.
Dr J is a great choice for a notoriously difficult class. He is a kind and caring professor and wont talk down to you if you're stuck. If his office hours don't work for you he is happy to accommodate. No iclickers, homework is online via webassign and crowdmark, quizzes are weekly with questions pulled directly from that section's assignments.
Dr. J is the best Math teacher I have had ever. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I found his office hours to be particularly useful, as he is good at explaining math one on one. He will assign a fair amount of homework and the exams were pretty hard I found. Put in the effort, and it will be worth it!
He. Is. Amazing. Don't miss out on any chances of having his class because he is the most caring and helpful prof you can ever get. He loves what he teaches and that makes his lectures so much more interesting. Tests are very fair, work for it and you'll get by fine. Go to his office hours, he'll explain all your questions clear as day
An absolute gem of a prof. If you have the chance to take a class with Dr.J, I highly recommend it. He is always willing to help students with questions no matter how difficult or easy they are.
One of the best professors I've ever come across. His lectures are both informative and funny. He really encourages asking questions and is always so happy when someone asks a question. Great office hours, again, he is actually happy that you are trying to learn. You can tell he loves what he does . 100% would take a course with him again.
Calculus 1 is difficult and yet it was one of my favourite courses because of Dr. J. I have rarely met someone who is so committed and caring about his students' learning. He is one of the kindest and most approachable professors and so encouraging. But don't expect to breeze through just because Dr. J is nice; work hard and do all of the homework.
This man is the most caring prof I have had at SFU! He is an amazing teacher and person. Attend the lectures, do the homework, and you'll see yourself succeed in his class.
Excellent professor! Had him as my calculus 1 professor and you could tell that he was passionate not only about the subjects that he taught, but also had put in the time and effort to rehearse the subject matter that he wanted to deliver in front of his students. Made learning differential calculus a lot more fun than it would have been otherwise!
He's such a bro. So soft and caring, I'm glad that he's my professor.
Maybe since its online Its hard to understand compared to in class. Just handing in assignments and keeping up with lectures. Veselin Jungic was rated such a high prof yet the only thing I rely on is the additional YouTube videos of Jamie he has up. Highly recommend to avoid this class until it resumes back in person. TAs also mark way to hard.
I can't believe this, but I only chose this Professor because of the reviews here. His online lectures do not cover ALL the topics in a section and I have to watch Mulholland's YouTube videos instead. Really? Tuition for Youtube? Not only that but his tests do NOT cover foundational textbook and web assign practice/concepts.
Just a heads up, if you take Math 150 with this prof and it's online, know that the test questions tend to be convoluted and only loosely related to the lectures/assignments. Prepare yourself. Or don't, because it makes no difference.
He's a great teacher but his tests are very unconventional. The class average is pretty low due to this.
AVOID THIS PROF FOR ONLINE MATH 150!!! He doesnt finish the notes and u have to go to Jamies videos after on YouTube to complete it and understand it. Handing in assignments and TESTS R INCREDIBLY HARD. Our class has told him to stop with the nonsense and he believes its just us who dont understand. A prof who doesnt care. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!
Do textbook questions, do his webassign work, do the seminar questions, do the optional review, and the TEST will have nothing to do with it. DONT BE FOOLED by test 1, it wasnt that bad , TEST 2 was something else and he said it only gets harder from here. Do not take this class ONLINE WITH JUNGIC , WAIT UNTIL IT RESUMES IN PERSON!!!!!
This class is so bad online, impossible to understand anything. Veselins writing is so bad and makes so many mistakes in his work. Doesnt finish the notes, expects u to know why it works rather than doing the actual solving. TAs mark harshly , expected to keep the class mark below the average of 55. NO CURVE!!!! I 100% not recommend this prof.
Absolute waste of time going to class. Jamies video JUNGIC himself uploads is 10x better than his notes. Tests r way to hard, u cant prepare for a test that goes completely off book. He says the final will b calculus 2 level which makes no sense. This class is calculus + REVIEW but the review is so bad. Just wait until the class resumes in person
Online -> incredibly hard. Wait until this class is in person. Cant understand veselins notes , Youtube is what is keeping me on border line pass. This class has messed with my confidence. I feel like crying because of him. He gives you so much non - related review and the test is something else. Trust me, trust the others, take it with diff prof
What a joke.
Notes r a joke, u learn the basics , and the test is something else. If u need to take this class, I recommend someone else. If YOUR A 1st YEAR, TAKE IT WHEN CLASS RESUMES IN PERSON!!! THIS CLASS IS DREADFUL ONLINE! TAs DONT CARE EITHER, AVERAGE IN HIS CLASS IS AROUND 50%
This class killed me. Such a pointless class. I used YouTube most of the time in teaching myself the concept, which werent even on the test. Instead. BDAY sequence was. Dont take this class online, its incredibly hard. Prof jungic doesnt make it easier with his inability to complete notes and constant mistakes and horrible hand writing.
Dont get me started with online school. I think since its online, Jungic is struggling in teaching and understanding that we students have more than 1 class. Doing all this practice and then seeing the test have things we never covered just shows how bad his teaching ability is online. Beware, take this class in person for a good mark.
This is for sure a gpa booster.
Dont take this prof.
Jungic tests are made to be cheat proof but instead makes the tests wording very confusing and unnecessarily difficult on top of the already tough test.
Dr. Jungic is a super helpful and nice person, whenever I ask him a question he gets back to me as soon as he can and always wants the best for the students, however, he doesn't mean he's good at teaching online. He never finishes his notes on time and just tells us to do it ourselves. The tests are not even related to anything thought in class.
Jungic is a nice person, although taking this course online with Jungic is near impossible and will certainly drive you insane. You will spend so many hours every day studying for this course just to fail every single exam. The exams are insanely confusing and completely unrelated to the material taught in the class. Avoid this class at all costs!
This class is extremely difficult. Dr. J is a caring prof but that is not enough to get you through this course. Notes are always incomplete and I heavily rely on youtube. Assigned questions and notes are barely relevant to questions on exams. You will need to put all your effort in to fail with 49%
Dr. J is a caring professor but his online exam system is horrible. Its hard enough knowing material but his personal spin on the test makes it so u have to insert numbers and functions into questions, just over complicating everything. Terrible experience.
READ what everyone has said about this class being online. Due to COVID-19, everything online is difficult and this class has been made where its much more difficult compared to in person. I highly recommend taking this class in person. Jungic leaves us to finish off the notes through YouTube and his tests r quite confusing. Overall, Avoid it.
Dr. J I heard was quite well in person. Online, its a huge NO! Take this and everyone elses consideration, this class isnt the same online. Its set up in a way to constantly make u depressed and feel demotivated. Those who thrived in high school are border line passing. Avoid Dr.J, hes not what the earlier reviews seemed to b. Screw COVID.
Hardly getting a passing grade, youtube this more useful than his lecture.
I agree with what everyone has said. If u have to take the class, avoid prof jungic until it is in person. Hes a different person online.. in a bad way.
His tests r a joke. Where r the actual questions that we study through notes, assignments and seminars. Instead we have to input numbers from a table our selves and become even more confused on how to simplify whatever its asking for. Huge let down of a prof. YouTube > all the math profs especially jungic. Just know, he doesnt even finish notes.
Extremely nice professor, but watch Mulhollands lectures alongside Jungic. Really don't understand those complaining about the birthday sequence when it was basic stuff. Literally just product rule two values and quotient rule two values. Don't expect the very basic assigned homework to be enough for the exams.
Ignore the mob mentality below. Dr. J is a very good professor - very useful lectures that helps understand the course material. Only reason why there are so many bad reviews is because he uses a unique birthday code for his tests so everyone has different values for test questions. If you put in the effort you can get an A in this course.
Caring and a nice prof. Dr. J I heard was one of the best for math 150, but I feel that online is quite different for his teachings. I would highly recommend taking it with Dr.J in person. If you cant, avoid it at all costs, the class itself is quite hard and nearly a struggle for most students trying to just get over 50.
dr. J is a caring prof but is not currently doing a good job with online teaching. The exams are much harder than any practice question he assigns. with very limited time on the test it is quite unreasonable to have to spend time thinking how to arrange the questions based on the bday algorithm. I strongly suggest not taking this course.
If youve Galen AP Cal in high school, you would still average a low mark in this class. Its set up so the average is around 55-60. This class isnt curved according to Dr. Jungic so I highly recommend not to take this class with him since his notes are horrible and he doesnt even finish them. He posts YouTube videos and they are way better.
He's a good prof, he wants his students to understand the concepts behind the math, and you can tell he really likes math too. He tries to tell jokes in class too. Probably my favorite math prof so far.
All the eaters who say 5/5 for Dr. J r liars. This class is hard and prof J cant teach due to the online switch from in person. I heard he was a really good prof in-person , online its a diff story. Look at all the reviews below. Youll know what I mean. Do not take prof J or MATH 150 at all online. So many liars with the average being 55. LOL
Took him for the Spring term when the transition to online class happened. He is the most devoted prof I've had so far- he organizes as much office hours as possible and always willing to answer emails. He is approachable and very passionate about what he does. Though I admit Mulholland's videos is still the superior choice for lecture materials
Dr. J is very passionate about math, and it really shows. He's energy always wakes me up whenever I am listening to his lectures. Explains topics very clearly and always repeats himself at crucial points in the lesson so he can drill the information into our head so we don't forget. I love that aspect about his teaching and I heavily recommend him
His notes are quite hard to read as his writing is messy. His connection is an issue and lag is constant throughout the online lecture. I believe in-person Jungic would b the best option but online this course is in incredibly hard as I rely more on YouTube than him. Tests are in a way where u cant cheat and so diff from the concepts we did. Avoid
I hate cal. Never attended his lectures for a month now, he posts Jamies videos himself which r far more cleaner and understandable. I dont understand why theres so much why we need to do this in the course rather then just apply the work. This isnt a theory and proof class, I really dislike math 150 online and based off others, I agree, avoid.
I dont understand why he doesnt understand that we students cant do a test in under 50 min especially the way he makes it. And then the TAs r marking like their life depends on it, I dont get why theyre so strict on it, course is already dreadful and who goes to lecture now. Jamies vids r way better and I understand more. What a waste of $$$
I pay money to watch videos of another prof teach. Prof jungic put them up himself also. What a waste of money and I hate this class. SFU first year, first sem here, online, hate this already, what a money grab of a school. Such a disappointment on everything especially there rise in tuition fees for next sem. Go to ubc or kpu, sfu is such garbage.
Nicest guy, cares abt students, and is overall sweet. Office hours are a good idea, he has lots available too. gets off topic sometimes but he has resources for material he doesn't cover. responds to feedback + makes sure no one feels bad if they get a question wrong in class. is honest with you even if it sucks, but he is nice abt it 10/10 guy
Test 3 done. What a joke. The average would have been much higher but the TAs had to b picky where it would bring everyone down. I had all my work correct yet lost so many marks for explaining that I possibly went from a 90% to a 73%. Actually so disappointed in this overall course and prof. Needs to b fixed and revised for next sem. Stay away.
Test 1 was in the medium difficulty. Test 2 was hard. Test 3 was actually surprisingly easy but the TAs had to bring the average down cuz guess what THIS IS SFU. Average was 26/40 so just shows what this school cares about. This course is rigorous to. Nothing again jungic. Just hate the overall class structure and grading by the TAs. Jungic is eh
I think Dr. Jungic is finally beginning to realize on how to construct tests. The first and second test, the second test especially, used a birthday algorithm to prevent cheating. Solving the algorithm was more of a challenge than the actual test. I'm really glad he chose to hand out the algorithm before the test so we can spend time figuring itout
Even though class was online and remote, Dr. J did his very best. He made sure to answer every questions and was very active on Piazza. His office hours were also very helpful, definitely recommend going as often as you can. His Tests are definitely on the harder side but doable if you study the webassign and seminar questions.
Great professor who actively goes out to make sure you under stand the material. He individually assigned everyone a time to meet up with him after the midterm to make sure you understood the material. If you did good and understood it you were free to leave but you can stay to ask question. Best professor I've ever had and very caring.
Im surprised a prof this bad some how still manages to get 5/5 on this platform. Usually its the students who are getting As and probably cheating/already knew most of Calculus 1. Trust me, i know people who took Calc 1 and are failing as of now. Prof J is such a horrible prod; notes r messy, connection issues, hard test, not enough time, etc.
Messy notes, intense tests with limited time, algorithms set up that confuse you, TA harsh marking, quizzes that are only 10 min yet would take 20+. To much proofs rather then apply. You can get the work right yet if you dont know why this is happening by explaining it you wouldnt get 100%. Most students watch Jamies videos. Connection issues
Dont take this prof remotely. Save yourself. If any1 else tells u other wise, its a lie.
If this class somehow resumed back in person, I wouldnt wear my seatbelt driving there because I would rather die before making it to his class.
A classmate asked jungic if he can post the solutions to practice final and he said post your solutions first. Not even giving us the ability to compare answers. Horrible prof, I dont like him. Hes weird. 0/5 if possible. What a joke of a class. Hate it.
Having this course be over is the best thing that has happened all semester. By far the hardest final exam I have ever taken. It's so heartbreaking to work your butt off for a half-decent letter grade all semester just to end up being screwed over. Strongly do not recommend taking this course. if you do prepare to be your own prof.
I got a decent mark in this class but that wasnt bc he was a good teacher I had gotten almost 100% on calc in high school. Hes lectures are a waste of time, assignments and exam dont match the level of difficulty. We were expected to solve tuff questions under 1 hours with little time to take pictures of THINK. Exam questions are worded poorly.
What a final exam. All that practice work he gave us just for nothing to be on it. No point in studying. This class is study on your own after attending the lecture to be confused. Almost everyone relied on YouTube/Jamie. The average was a 55%. Think about that. The online precede is a killer for MATH 150. Wait until it resumes in person.
What a joke of a prof. The exam was unfair, his tests were unfair besides the last one he gave us. the average is so low. No curve, no scale. If u get a D u cant take MATH 152. He doesnt care if you fail but rather he has stated to drop the class if you are failing to retake it and waste even more money.
HOW IS HE CARING!? He said after test 2 if you are failing drop the class and re take it. Meaning get a 40% refund and pay again so they can get more money out of you. If he was so caring he would actually try to help you pass not tell you to drop out. The fact that you need to teach yourself shows how bad Prof J is. Avoid at all costs!
I failed... well I will never take a class with this prof again. Horrible experience as a first year student at SFU. Not only does he do everything against you such as the time you have for exams/tests/quizzes, the notes he gives, the TA marking, but he also doesnt care if you pass. Hes so scared of people cheating yet then dont give tests.
The tests were extremely hard, especially the final exam. Also Jamie Mulholland's pre recorded lectures are much more useful than the live lectures. This class is much harder due to being online and I would recommend waiting until class resumes in person. However, Dr. J is extremely caring and also replies to messages. His office hours were useful.
Dr. j is not caring at all. I dont understand what people mean by that. If he was so caring, why did he tell those who failed test 1 to drop the class and those who failed test 2 to also drop it to get some sort of refund. He should be encouraging others to keep trying, yes he does reply to questions but most profs do also. Hes just bad overall.
Will never take a class with this prof again. Had high hopes as before remote classes Dr. j was considered a legend. With my first year experience, what a horrible choice. The other section had a much higher avg as Dr.J just told people to drop the class. Hes not meant for online teaching at all. Hes making me even consider not doing a math class
If I was on an island with the only way to get off it is to take this prof. I wouldnt. Why should I? With extremely difficult tests/exams, barely any time for them, horrible connection, messy notes, always confusing, never finishing the notes, leaving us to self learn from Jamie, going in unprepared always with no practice review, just a huge no.
I dont know how I got a B- but I did. This class isnt what it was once. Remote classes really just stepped up their levels. Highly avoid taking MATH 150 online and wait until its back in person. Prof. J showed that he clearly cant teach online with his incredibly messy notes and extremely hard tests.
I dont recommend this prof.
I went through this class purely off of Dr. Mulholland's YouTube videos. Lectures are horrid at 8am. Dr. Jungic tried his best to make his tests anti-cheat for online, but made them confusing in the process. Final was insanely difficult. Very caring professor who's lenient with part marks, and probably one of the better Calculus teachers out there.
Calculus 1 is always a difficult course, and the final in this class was insanely difficult. That being said, calculus is hard no matter who the prof is. In my opinion, Dr. J is a fantastic prof. He is very kind and is always willing to help students out, replies quickly on piazza, and is very accessible outside of class. Just study hard!
Ignore these one star reviews. I agree his teaching may not be clear sometimes, but there's a reason he posts external resources to help clarify topics. Besides his second term test, the tests were fair and doable. The WebAssign assignments help you boost your mark and gives a lot of extra practice for the term tests/final. Would recommend.
The online semester is difficult for everyone, and although there were some technical difficulties; Dr. Jungic and his team are always available for help. You must study for his exams since questions on his exam are can be easily misinterpreted. Math 150-course load is heavy due to his daily assignment that can be tedious.
Maybe Some would say he is a caring guy, But he was not a good prof. Please avoid this class at all cost. Calculus is already a difficult course and this prof does not make it the slightest bit easier, in fact is probably 10x harder than it should be. AVOID!
Such a bad experience as a first year first semester student in SFU. This class was tough but Prof Jungic made it much harder. If the question was whats 1+1 and u write 2. You will get 2/5 as the other 3 marks will come from why it equals 2. Like the amount of explaining and marks it takes up is a joke. I would never take a class with him again.
The online course has definitely made this course a lot harder than it should be, but Dr. Jungic tried to help us out as much as he could.
The most honest review u can get is here. Veselin jungic is not caring , as he told people to drop the class if they failed test 1. His TAs mark harshly and make sure the average is 55%. He himself remarked the tests since the average was like 65% one time. His notes r messy. He doesnt finish them. You will need to teach urself. Just avoid him.
Incredibly hard for a first year course. Veselin jungic doesnt help either. He just says keep studying and good things will happen. I did that and he told me to drop the class. Even though I tried and needed help, he just answers 1 question in office hours from u and moves on. Hes a bad prof and dont get me started with the TAs. :(
Horrible. Will never take a math class with him. Messy notes, incomplete, extremely hard tests and grading.
Dr. J cares so much about student success, but this class was hard. I was an A student in high school Pre-Calc and got a C with a lot of hard work. If you do every homework assignment and go to most office hours you can pass the course because Dr. J will respect your effort.
Sad to see Dr J receiving all the 1 stars since the pandemic. He recently wrote an article about pandemic difficulties that I hope other students can find and read. I found him empathetic, caring, and extremely passionate about math and further studies. Often I visited him to speak about my academic career and moving forward, I value that time.
Veselin is a great professor, he takes the time to make sure everybody is caught up to speed, loves to answer questions. He also makes Mathematics very easy to understand.
Horrible save your money and sanity
The recent 1 star reviews from Dr. J instructing people online do not do justice to his passion for teaching mathematics, nor his sheer generosity as a professor. Dr. J gives amazing feedback, and his in-person instructing is magnetic. People who had him online truly missed out on an amazing professor who wants nothing more than for you to succeed.
He is amazing and his class is very easy for us to understand.
Dr. Jungic is very passionate about math, which makes him such an engaging teacher. He cares a lot about his students and wants everyone to succeed. One of the best teachers I've ever had.
Honestly, I did not find the lectures helpful, but as someone who wants to study math, they were enjoyable. His passion for math is clear-- I respect him. Exams are very fair--do the assigned homework and they're easy. Provides a checklist for each exam and practice exam/qs. Keep up with the textbook readings (DO read) and course will be pleasant.
Dr. Jungic is by far the most passionate professors I've met to date. I don't ever rate profs or even go on this website but his passion and care for students swayed me to write this. He encourages questions and doesn't make you ever feel bad for asking them , he also makes you feel engaged and helps you understand in and out of lecture.
He is an amazing prof who really cares about his students. I highly recommend going to his lectures as they were very insightful and he is very willing to answer questions during and after lectures. So long as you are not interrupting. His exams are tough but you will see similar question to the ones he does in class or you do for homework.
you should appreciate have Dr. J as professor.
So so
Veselin Jungic is the most caring, supportive professor I've ever had. He genuinely wants his students to enjoy the class. The lectures were complex and the assignments were tough but you learn the tricks to solving them in class. The group project had lots of freedom and was fun. The exam was extremely fair. I hope Dr. J. has a great retirement!
Super nice Prof, I recommend. However some of the proofs in this course might be hard to figure out on your own in a short time frame, so you might not want to cram half the course in a day or two if u want a really good grade
Happy retirement Dr. J! The Passionate lecture will always remind me purpose of studying.
Super passionate about math, and very caring & helpful if you have any questions! Happy Retirement Dr. J!
Not a real teacher, he just loves to show off in class with derivations that he ends up screwing up anyways. I'm glad I never have to take courses with him again.
This is the second class I've had with Dr. Jungic (I also had him for calculus 3) and it's been a terrible experience overall. Just really disorganized lectures and confusing explanations. I did much better this time by just reading the textbook and not going to his classes.
I stopped going to lectures after the first midterm and it was the best decision I could have made. I think I would fail the course if I went to lectures. Very bad explanations and useless tutorials.
Never ever go to lectures. They won't prepare you for the midterms or the final.
Lectures were so useless it was basically just random derivations that he felt like he wanted to show the class.
The lectures can be disorganized, but reading the textbook and using resources like unstuckstudy ai helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course.
