This is a great class. Burton makes his lectures very interesting and easy to follow. He also makes your grade based on tests which are very easy if you pay attention. I didn't even need my book and i got a B. I highly suggest his class.

Intent on teaching, not one sided in opinion. Very helpful in that he makes sure you have all the information you will need in order to take an exam effectively. All you need to do is show up and listen, in addition to the reading assigned. Good method

only take psychology with this teacher! He is the best there is. He explains things in a way that make sense and he teaches in a way where you actually want to learn. He made me LOVE psychology and he is a great guy!

Vic Burton is in ecclectic shambles. The guy cant make up his mind about anything, if you spit any idea out at him hell say that it is valid. The entire class will be disgusting to you if you believe humans are heroic.

You will learn, but you will sweat too. Extremely amounts of information to process. 7 books, 4 exams and a comprehensive final. Overall, the lectures are clear, fun and deep, but the info can be overwhelming. CAUTION: READER HATERS SHOULD STAY AWAY.

Vic is a great teacher-you really should take him!!! He is so clear on everything. He can be a bit odd sometimes, but then again who isn't. If you aren't a test taker then don't take him. He only offers 4 tests and the final. No assignments-just tests.

Vic is a great teacher, he makes sure you understand everything and he makes the class interesting. He does seem to talk about sex too much though. But If you pay attention to lecture and read teh chapters you will do good on his tests.

Vic is an excellent teacher who obviously enjoys what he's doing. I took his summer course in '04 so his fall term courses may be different, but i found him to be extremely helpful and involved even under the condensed summer schedule.

Great teacher,but sometimes gets lost in his conversations. Vic doesnt cover all the material, so alot of it is done on your own. only 400 points w/ one drop. SO you have to stay consistent to get a decent grade. I learned alot... on my own.

Mr. Burton was a wonderful teacher and a really nice person. He went out of his way (Sometimes a little off subject) to answer a student's question. He really seems to love psychology. I would recommend taking psychology with him. Interesting class.

BIT OF ADVICE: Tests on the syllibus first week!... lol Study groups necessary... Not easy but very interesting. He has a great sence of humor!!!

This class is fairly easy. Study notes and the book. Typically the class is not stressful. Sometimes he can be a passive aggressive type. Don't let it bother you and you will succeed be sure to study because you do have to earn the grade.

i thought he was great. He was very helpful, down to earth...but not the easiest teacher in the world.

Vic is awesome. He would never set anyone up for failure, and never has suprises on exams. Very compassionate about his work. Some people may see him as a radical because he expresses views that most people are afraid to. VIC IS NOT GROSS.

This is not the easiest class you'll take. However, Vic helps out alot and makes the class interesting and funny. You gotta love his sense of humor! And for all you that think Vic is gross, face it, he's old!

This is my 6th psy class, but it's the first time I've been able to understand Freud. I might not agree with "Sigi" but at least he's no longer such an enigma. I have Victor Burton to thank for that. It's to bad he'll retire soon.

I took him for the summer, was really easy was very nice and helpful, the tests are easy if you study and he drops the lowest grade you have for your final grade!!

Not an easy A class, but he's an EXTREMELY clear and helpful teacher. Answers questions extremely thoroughly and is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. I love his personality and he's always in a great mood. And whoever thinks he's gross probably is a moron that failed his class. Hahahaha!

He is a great teacher! he explains things very well! He is kind of gross. He talks about "blowing chunks" and orgasms and orgys. Which is kind of wierd to hear a teacher talk about. Other than that, Great Class! Read, take notes and Study and you will do fine! I would recomend him to anyone!

Vic is a really nice guy and an excellent psych professor. The format of the class is easy, just a few multiple choice tests! He is very helpful oustide of class and makes the subject material interesting.

he is awesome! hes one of the best teachers at grossmont. hes really helpful and gives great lectures. only four test (lowest test score is dropped) plus final, no hw and up to 40 points extra credit. i highly recommend the ec because thats almost half a test score. so if you do ok on a test the ec will keep your grade up.

What a wonderful teacher! I am in graduate school now, and I still remember many of the concepts I learned from Vic. He influenced my perception of Freud, Jung, and the Humanists. Most clear explanation I have ever heard of the difference between operant and classical conditioning. He's very fair, and very clear about his expectations

Had for three classes, and is the best teacher i had, not only in the psychology department, but in my whole experience at Grossmont. I have recommended friends to his class, so i figured i'd let everybody else know. I see that i am not the only person that thinks this, so I am glad i can conform to the norm i guess.

Vic is a nice guy who occasionaly cracks some pretty funny jokes. He does not assign homework but expects you to read from the text. His lectures are probably the clearest I've ever heard from a professor. If you want to take psychology, I recommend Vic without a doubt. You will not find a better Psyc teacher.

Love this teacher. Very easy coarse if you read the book and make notecards of all the BOLDED words. If you do that before the tests you will get an easy A. Vic made the class fun and interesting. HIGHLY RECOMENDED TEACHER...

I had Mr. Burns my first semester in college and he was great. If you go to every class and listen to the lectures you will ace all the tests... although reading the book is awlays helpful. He also drops the lowest test score so it helps the grade. If you like psychology and want and a pretty easy A take Mr. Burns

Mr. Burton is the best! The class is incredibly interested and he's easy to understand. He wants to have a relationship with his students and loves participation. Psych of course is difficult for most people, but he makes it fun, and he sticks with you. Take him if you can, I wish I could take him again!

Great teacher, I only wish that all of my psych teachers were like him... Everything is so straight forward, and you can tell he is an actual nice guy.

All he does is lecture. By the 3rd session you'll get bored and end up not going to class. It is an easy A if you take notes & study because your grade is pretty much based on about 5 exams and the lowest is dropped. BUT it can be hard. The textbook is hard to understand [he even said so himself] the best part is u dont have to write any papers

He's a really nice guy, but tends to relate the subject back to himself or his dog. There aren't any assignments, just four tests and a final...so if you're there, listen, and study a little, you'll be able to pass.

If you want to pass this class you HAVE to read the book, as his lectures won't cover all the materials in the chapter, take note of this heed if you want an "A" in this class. I LOVE listening to his lectures with is quirky and interesting personality. Grade based on tests solely, but most of it is M-choice + matching. Final is all matching for us

Vic Burton is great! Although his class may be a little harder than others, his ridiculous gestures and explanations are more rewarding. 4 tests (lowest one is dropped) and a final. WOW, he's the best teacher that i've had in Grossmont. No homework, only 4 tests plus the final and he gives out extra credit. If you don't pass his class you don't belong in college, that's how easy his class is. He does not require any busy work (i.e. homework) so if you are a good test taker, or have a good understanding of the material you will do well. Outstanding lectures, entertaining and clear. Vic is definitely the most reasonable teacher I've ever had. He prepares interesting and helpful lectures, but it is smart to keep up with the reading. Tests are often based off review questions from the text and he offers several extra credit assignments. There were 4 exams not including the final. If you take this class, I highly recommend him.

Amazing guy who made me declare Psychology as my major. One of those older dudes where you would be totally down to party or chill with. Every class is enjoyable and informative, and the textbook is easy to read. Treats you like an equal unlike most other teachers. Get to know him, he will be a great mentor/ resource for your future

He's such a nice guy - I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't like him. I look forward to this class every week. His lectures are informative, interesting, and humorous. The exams aren't a walk in the park, but they aren't stupid easy either. If you are thinking of taking Psy 120 I couldn't recommend him more. You won't regret it :)

What a sweet teacher! He was so nice and helpful through the semester, he really wants students to succeed. You must read the book!! And flash cards will help too. Missing lecture will bring your grade down, specifically knowledge-wise so attend class! He's sooo nice... I really enjoyed his class!

Very clear, very organized. He welcomes questions and takes the time to explain something if you don't fully understand it. Straightforward, tests are basically notes + textbook. You can easily get a B if you NEVER open your text book. He teaches in a way that will definitely keep you interested if you don't slack off too much.

He's awesome. It's a lot of hard work, but I came out of this class all the more knowledgeable. He'll actually take the time to make sure you understand his lectures before moving on. Dont take his office hours for granted. I started the semester with a D, but saw a significant improvement in my grade as I took the advice he and his TA gave me.

He is THE BEST teacher I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. My father had his about 27 years ago and remembers him being just as amazing as I see him today. I can see his passion for psychology which is very motivating and inspiring. He real cares about whether or not you understand the material. He can be silly at times too which is rad.

My B was my fault (lots of family drama) but anything he actually talks about in class for some reason just sticks. He also teaches an empathy class that I HIGHLY recommend. if you want to learn psychology, Burton is the right professor. No quizzes, no homework,no study guides, 4 tests and 1 final that's cumulative.Attendance isn't mandatory, but very helpful since he does not put his powerpoints on blackboard. He is a very passionate, funny teacher however, his class is pretty hard because your grade is only based on your score on 4 tests. There is no other way to earn credits.

Mr. Burton is an inspirational teacher. He knows his subject and communicates it clearly and with humor. I always looked forward to his class. He posts his classroom presentations online, which I found extremely helpful at test time. While you cannot phone it in, he is very fair in his test grading. He is everything a teacher should be.

This professor is a student's dream! It's clear he loves teaching and does it really well. His lectures are very well thought out and he explains the more difficult concepts and offers interesting anecdotes. He seems to genuinely respect his students and is very fair in his grading. He gives four exams, a final, and drops the lowest of the four exams. He gives five extra credit assignments all at once and the windows to turn them in are spread throughout the semester. Also, he adds ten points to the end of the course. The tests are easy as long as you take good notes and read the book. He's very helpful and adorable :)

This professor is one of the best professors in the campus. He will his hardest for all his students to pass with a good grade and gives a lot of free points on exams plus extra credit assignments. Just do the reading because exams are based on his lectures and text. That aside, he does a lot of jokes and makes the class fun!

Mr Burton was great! I will be honest his lectures are long and time does not got by quickly. Nevertheless, he is absolutely inspirational. He loves what he teaches, and has a great sense of humor. He gives you everything you need to pass and his tests are so easy. He literally makes the class easy. No homework by the way only the extra credit was.

All the classes consist of him lecturing the whole time, so if you are not a fan of lectures, this class is not for you. He always asks if anyone has any questions and tries to answer in a way youd understand. Read the textbook!! You are only graded by your tests and extra credit if you do it. Vic is a genuinely nice person. At times he can be blunt, but I can tell that most of the time he means well. He likes making friends and cares about whatever is going on in your life if you talk to him about it. He wrote the textbook and knows the material very well, and he expects his students to read the textbook because of its valuable info.

Best prof ever! Failed PSY120 last semester so I decided to retake it with him. His lectures are amazing and does such a good job at explaining the material. The second exam is known to have a class avg of a F so beware. If you attend lectures and study the chapter quizzes in the book, the other exams should be easy. He has a great sense of humor!

Hes so funny and the material is pretty straightforward you just have to study for the tests. He gives an overall 25 points of extra credit which really can help you since there are only the 4 exams being graded I recommend taking this class!

I like him! He really cares about students situation. He gave five extra credit homework. His test was not very difficult, except the second one... but he gave us 20 bunus for it because he felt sad about that. His class was very interesting and well-organized. I recommend you read the textbookand do the multiply choices. Really useful!

Vic is a genuinely nice guy who wants his students to learn. Classes are taught via powerpoint with the book being helpful for summaries and review sections. Ask questions and be involved and he will have a good time along with you and the class will thrive.

I learned a wealth of information and enjoyed every class meeting. He is clear, just read the syllabus. And you should be prepared for the exams if you listen to what he says and use his lecture schematics. Definitely the best class i took that semester

The Professor really knows his material (He wrote the book) There was a problem with students being disrespectful and trying to run the class. There was a leader in this effort. But this was not the professors fault. He really tried to run a great class and he is willing to help those who want to learn. Extra credit work is given.

Really enjoyed his psy 120 class! He made it really easy. There was a quiz and discussion almost every week and four exams. The exam you scored lowest on is dropped. Attendance is mandatory!! Its most of the grade. I found it awesome that you get extra credit everytime you make yourself visible on zoom. Hard to not pass his class.

Lectures were amazing! They were easy to understand and he stopped for people to ask questions. He offered extra credit every class if you had your camera on, which is the main factor of my good grade in his class. Tests were reasonable, but you have to read the book and take notes to pass. He was a great guy, I highly recommend.

Professor Vic is super sweet and you can tell he genuinely loves psych. 4 midterms, quizzes, discussions, final. This class is a lot of info, though. His lectures are mandatory and have info that isn't in the book that you need to know. You HAVE to read the book to do well. He explains concepts well and wants to help. Very anti-Trump just an FYI.

I’m writing this about 20 years after having Vic for (I think) 3 different psych classes. He’s the teacher from my past I think about most. Wonderful teacher and a kind/caring person. He truly cares for his students and the subject matter. Vic is truly a gem of a teacher.

Really nice and caring teacher. He's very funny and good-natured. His class is very easy and he offers a lot of extra credit opportunities!

Professor Burton is so amazing and really cares. He makes sure everyone, and I mean everyone, fully understands what he's teaching. He's got a lot of experience teaching that you can really tell/see when he gives lectures, he's such a fun teacher too, he's genuinely one of the best teachers I've ever had. Highly highly recommend him.

Really kind professor and a super fun class! The way he sets up the curriculum is easily accessible and clear on what he expects of you, he cares about his students and their participation, along with being passionate about psychology. All of the exams are online with additional quizzes, discussions, and other assignments.

Vic is such a wonderful person and if interested or just want to learn more about pyschology he is the best professor to have. He is extremely passionate about what he teaches, he cares about his students and wants to see them succeed, he is very supportive and gives amazing examples during lecture to help concepts stick and make more sense.

I had Vic back in 1998 for his psych 180 class. I will always remember him. The most caring teacher I ever had. Learned a lot.

Professor Burton is great—and hilarious as well! He is very passionate and informative about the study of psychology. I've had other psychology professors before, but Burton really stuck with me, got me engaged, and made me want to learn more about the field. You also need to attend lectures; it works out well in your favor (and grade).

He's a great teacher, makes things simple. He drops you from the course if you miss too many classes, and he doesn't upload the lecture slideshows so take good notes. He did go on this really weird political rant at the end of the semester. It felt super unnecessary and it made everyone in the class uncomfy.

Vic is a great professor, he will provide honest feedback whenever asked and he respects people who participate and show they want to be here to get an education. He is very emphatic and hilarious to listen to when he gets going on one of his "story tangents" lol.

Kindest teacher ive ever had. his teaching is straight forward, show up to class and youll have all the material youll need to succeed. you do need to purchase online book for chapter readings. there is many extra credit options.

Super caring and understanding, always willing to work with students outside of class. This class was amazing and so interesting, throughout the semester I was looking forward to the class constantly. Only reason he didn't get a 5 was that he got REALLY racist/homophobic/etc on the last day of class- it was really insane. Still a great class.

He was so funny and kind I loved going to his class he always ended up going on a story telling tangent which I always looked forward to he is one of the sweetest teachers I have ever had I HIGHLY recommend him he makes you feel important and wants people to participate in his class so please do!

I highly recommend this class! he is a great teacher and he really cares about his students. Lectures are fun and engaging and you learn a lot without it feeling tedious. Work level is really reasonable and manageable as well. Take this class if you can!
