Vicki Day is the worst math professor I have ever had. She didn't even have the answer to who developed calc, her only response was that the history books were so heavily bias towards men that it very well could have been a woman.

It says something bad about the teacher when EVERYONE in the class fails EVERY TEST! That says that it's not the students who are the problem. I had to drop this class or my head might have exploded! F- for Day!

She never brought her own pencil and assignment sheet and always needed to borrow mine, that got a little old. She's a math bully, she forced us into groups to work on stuff no one understood, even when reviewing for the final! And she refused to work problems! TOTALLY insensitive to the needs of the students. She should go back to Washington.

Vicki's philosopy of teaching is "read the book". Very little lecture time here. I found her to be unclear in answers to questions. She makes demeaning comments to her students, followed by something to cover her tracks. she will take phone calls during class. Most in my class failed because Vicki doesn't want to teach. Find someone who will teach.

She likes talk about her learning disability, so you'll feel sorry for all that she has overcome, but I think she has a TEACHING DISABILITY! Avoid her class at all costs.

She is the worst teacher that i have ever had she doesn't explain things she does all of her work out of the book and as far as homework goes she gives only what's on the computer. Her tests are horrible, more likely than not they will have nothing to do with what you have tought yourself, if you want to pass MATH A do NOT take her class.

Ms. Day is the one of the worst instructors I've encountered. Her communication skills are barbaric at best. She's curt, rude and lacks empathy for her students. She fails nearly half the class or students drop because they are failing. What a sorry example of the instructors Sierra College has to offer. I expect more for my money. BEASTLY!

Vicki Day seems like a nice lady, but sorry she cant teach anything. I highly recommend not taking a class of hers. She even admits onthe first day of class that over half of her students fail/drop.

I have had so many Math teachers at Sierra College and this teacher was by far the worst. Her "lectures" consisted of showing PowerPoint slides that came with the curriculum without even explaining them. I left this class with no knowledge or understanding of statistics. Whatever you do DO NO take her class!!!

There are some words in the human vocabulary which cannot describe certain people. She is one of those people, she is by the far worste teacher by far i have ever seen, to describe her poor teaching abilities would be lacking in words which bring out her true characteristics. I am in calc 2, with her class being the worste.

Spent a few weeks in her class. Enough time to see she doesn't want to teach, doesn't care,jumps around with material like its art class. She should be fired or let someone else who wants to teach do it. teach like its the real times we are living in DAY. Get real. No one has the time to teach themselves via book and fail tests not related to it.

I was blown away by her rudeness. I just can't believe she can have a job and not do anything and get away with it. It is evident the teachers who care..like Becky Simmers, and the ones who don't. Sad students must get her. Becky Simmers gets with the real world. This teacher needs to get real. Self absorbed an unrealistic..no caring, no teaching.

Seriously the worst math teacher ever. She skips around topics and assumes you already know everything. Doesn't answer questions clearly, or explain things logically. Your forced to teach yourself. It really blows my mind that she is allowed to be a teacher. Honestly, it doesnt matter how dedicated you are, over half her students Fail or withdrawal

Not helpful, makes mistakes on basic concepts while teaching. Almost whole grade is from tests, and gives little partial credit.

Worst teacher ever. Won't help you in class and sits in front of the class while we try to figure one of the challenge problems that she has given us. Don't take her go to Rocklin or find an online course.

She was by far the worst teacher I have ever had. if 98% of the class is failing i think its a teachers error and not the students fault. avoid her at all cost unless you thoroughly know the material already but then why would you take it????

Every time I went to this class i dreaded it because i knew I wouldn't learn anything. She pretty much was like learn it by yourself. Try to avoid her!

Unless you are a math whiz don't take her class. She moves super fast and doesn't explain well. Take Rebecca Siemers instead.

She is a strong woman, but just a horrid teacher. She has insane amounts of homework compared to my other Math teacher, and she doesn't teach us anything. She mainly just talks about personal stuff and tells us to learn the material on our own. I really dislike her as a teacher.

Quite possibly the worst teacher in the world. She doesn't explain anything and teaches on the assumption that everyone has the same knowledge she does. Very irritating and demoralizing class to take. Skip her class by all means; it'll help you stay confident in your studies.

Very confusing and disorganized math teacher. I learn well from reading the textbook, which is the only reason I managed a B in the class. I would NOT recommend taking her class.

She is a nice woman, but her teaching method is awful. She warned us her class would be hard, but I had no idea how hard! She doesn't explain anything or help you if you're stuck. Avoid her if you can!

She an absolutely horrible teacher. I have no ideas why she receives a paycheck for saying she is. She has no interest in showing you how to do the problems. If you confront her about it she acts like a victim and takes no responsibility. Avoid her.

Work load is insane!! Expect to learn at a pace so fast that nothing sinks in. You'll spend hour upon hour on mymathlab. She really killed my passion for the subject. More than half the class had dropped after the first 2 weeks.

Ms Day doesn't teach in a linear fashion. She changes the subject frequently making the material hard to follow. Unfortunately, students are patronized as well which ends up causing a lot of friction during classes. If you excel at math then study like crazy, take the assessment test, and test out of this class. Otherwise try to avoid if you can.

If you want to have a horrible semester take Vicki Day. I really enjoyed math UNTIL I took her class. She doesn't teach you anything, but expects you to know how to do everything. Taking her class is basically like taking an online class, you have to teach yourself everything! It SUCKS don't take her class!! Professor Siemers all the way! 3

She has her own style, and for too many people it just does not work. If we all wanted to teach ourselves, we would not take a class. Grades very hard. A's are possible, but a large time investment and no small degree of prior skill are necessary. Not for the faint of heart, or the non-math person.

RUN!! Take someone else. She assigns an insane amount of homework problems, if you get stuck she is not helpful and you wont be able to progress to the next assignment. She doesn't care that MOST of her students fail.

She is very good at helping students out and does seem to care about what she does. That being said her class is very test oriented and she grades on things that are not in the textbook. she does lots of word problems so if your ok with those don't worry. Personally was not happy with her but that's just me.

Lectures do not match the tests. Textbook Chapters do not match the tests. Tangents about her politics. Complains about the college, seems bitter. The only option for Nevada County campus. She gives warnings about success in her class first thing in the form of "Drop my class if ______". Her heart seems to be in the right place. Scattered teaching

Neither the classes nor the textbook curriculum match what is on the tests, never collects homework, changes assignments partway through resulting in massive backtracking. Would not recommend unless you're very strong-willed.

Coming from a student who is pretty good at math, she expects too much for an online class. she asks you questions that you have not covered in mymathlab on her "capstone" quizzes. uses terms that have not been covered yet, and then goes against her own instructions when explaining how to solve a problem. i feel bad, i think she means well.

Gives specific instructions to solve equations using methods that she has not covered. Her quizzes and tests are completely different than what is taught and questions are made far more complicated than they need to be. Final is worth 60% of the grade. Take the advice of others when they recommend not taking this class.

Unless you are a very good & interested in math, do not take a class from Vicki Day. She is COMPLETELY hands off. Don't expect lectures, feedback, or a flicker of help from her. Her idea of teaching is to assign copious amounts of homework for you figure out alone, & grade without feedback on incorrect problems. Also the final is 60% of your grade.

She literally did not know the content of the course, students were teaching her the whole time. This woman shouldn't have a job after the pathetic display she gave. If you try to give her the slightest criticism she will blow it off as you being pissy even if the criticism is valid. Do not enroll in any of her classes ever, you will drown.

Probably the most difficult professor I have ever had and thinks everyone is cheating. Says she is bored because no one zooms her so she is trying to catch all the cheaters. Would not recommend to anyone who wants to pass math!!!

Leaves harsh comments on graded assignments. Did not teach at all, learned everything from khan academy or the textbook. Tests do not match up with any criteria she assigns.

We're two classes into the fall semester of online class due to Corona virus. My advice? Heed the warnings of those who posted at the end of summer 2020 session. Good lord she is bad. The final is more than half your grade, she can't explain at all, and she wants you to "exercise your brain" by figuring out proofs yourself.. Don't take her.

She assigns extensive homework, doesn't accept late work for partial credit, and makes you teach yourself with the textbook and Khan Academy. Her syllabus recommends 20-30 hours of work a week.

Day isn't a tough grader. The homework is far harder than the tests; however, there is a ridiculous amount of hw. No one needs 80 problems in one hw assignment. The first day of class she was kind of hostile while talking about cheating. There is no reason to suspect anyone on the first day. NO LECTURE only khan. The final is worth over half grade

Does not do a very good job at teaching material making you instead have to teach everything yourself. She plays favorites and doesn't even bother to hide it. In the first day of class she told a student that they were not good enough and should drop out. Weirdly paranoid about cheaters as well. Would not take again, Buchwald is a better option.

hardest class i have ever taken. she was not very present in the zooms and went fast. tons of book work. i would spend about 3 hours straight every day at my desk getting the homework done. i went to my peer tutor's study sessions because she didn't teach us. youtube and khan academy taught me everything in this class.

Awful professor we have to do the extra zoom with her after the final so she can finalize the grade. This is professor is very tough grader doesnt explain problem nicely . I would not recommend this professor.

This class is the first class I've failed in my life, I loved math before this class. She's not mean or calls people out she just doesn't teach well. Her teaching strategy is hw after hw. 85% of this class is hw and its worth 0% of the grade. Final was 55% of class. As a last ditch effort she gave us a grade bump before final to get good rating.

Literally scared me away from math. Took embedded support version of course so zoom lectures were helpful. Withdrew after 2 weeks bc prof is super unorganized and assigns overload of hw that barely contributes to grade. Tests had material that wasn't taught. Very strict, comes off stand-offish, and weirdly worried about students cheating.

Out of her mind with the amount of work she asigns per week. I Filled 3 college ruled notebooks front and backs of pages, in just the first 2 weeks, with the required notes from the lectures/videos/textbook. And that doesn't even include the actual homework assignments. Expect up a bare minimum of 25 hours of work related to this class a week

Vicki is a lady who wants to ruin peoples lives. She tends to emphasize the cheating aspect of academics so much, that it seems like shes addicted to the term cheating. Her class has been a nightmare and is NEVER accessible out of class. The 5 star reviews you see on here are all written by her. I found out a way and confirmed it. DONT TAKE HER!!

Run. Better off watching Organic Chemistry Tutor to learn the material and help you ace this subject with a different teacher that's not sadistic in grading, course-load and lack of instruction with instead, "self-oriented learning" from the text.

Do not take her she is evil, assigns insane amounts of homework saying that she "needs to assign 20 hours of homework for every lecture," doesn't teach in class, drops massive horrible tests out of nowhere worth 90% of your grade on stuff she never taught.
